LIFE ON SERENNO

Introduction

Qui-Gon Jinn walked quickly through the ornate hallways. Order 66 had only happened a few weeks ago and still weighed heavily on his mind; how he and Obi-Wan managed to survive, he would never know.

They now lived with Dooku on Serenno; it took a little adjusting too, but Dooku and Obi-Wan had seamed happy with this. Qui-Gon couldn't make up his mind of whether or not he liked it; he was happy they were safe, but him and Dooku disagreed on a lot of things.

He knocked on Obi-Wan's door. To his surprise, Dooku answered, "Who is it?"

Qui-Gon opened the door, Dooku was sitting on Obi-Wan's bed rubbing the back of his hand, "Hello, Qui. How are you doing?"

He took a seat in a chair that was nearby, "Better, but still—disturbed."

Obi-Wan was in his thirties now, but Order 66 had shaken him so much, he would wake up with nightmares and just had trouble falling asleep. It embarrassed him greatly; but Dooku didn't care, neither did Qui-Gon.

And that was one of the few things they could agree on without debate; their parental love for Obi-Wan.

Qui-Gon smiled slightly, "Can't sleep again," he hesitated briefly, "son." For a little while after Order 66, they had struggled on what to call each other. After all, they weren't tied to the ways of the Jedi.

"Yes, Father," Obi-Wan sighed, he was disappointed that he was handling it so poorly.

Qui-Gon stood and knelt next to Obi-Wan's bed, "If it's any comfort to you, I'm still struggling too."

They shared a smile, Dooku sighed happily, "Now, my grandson, please try and get some sleep; I have things I want to do with you and Qui tomorrow."

A light blue cylinder of light surrounded the three and lightsabers were drawn: one an emerald green, one a bright blue, and one a golden yellow.

Before any one of them could say anything, a voice spoke from above, "You have all proven yourselves worthy of my grace. Prepare to receive my blessing, you worthy ones."

They shared a confused glance as the light grew brighter, effectively blinding them. Soon after, they all lost consciousness.

Qui-Gon was the first to wake up, he groaned as he tried to stand, "What in the galaxy happened?"

Dooku growled as he woke up, "When I find out. . ." his voice trailed off. He stood and opened his eyes, he was shocked, "Qui-Gon! You look forty years younger!"

Qui-Gon looked at Dooku, just as surprised, "So do you!"

Alarmed gazes turned to the bed. Where a thirty-year-old man had laid a moment before, there was now a mop of messy ginger hair sticking out above the sheets.

They shared a cautious look, then looked back down the bed. Qui-Gon carefully pulled the sheets back.

It was Obi-Wan, the Force signature was unmistakable. But, just as time had turned back with Qui-Gon and Dooku; it had with Obi-Wan, but he was now a toddler.

Qui-Gon picked the small sleeping child up, "H-how? It's impossible."

Dooku shook his head ruefully, "The will of the Force, I guess. The question is why would, whatever that was, choose us?"

"Does it matter?" Qui-Gon whispered as he gingerly stroked Obi-Wan's cheek.

Dooku moved closer, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Qui-Gon, and actually smiled, "You're right, and I'll have Jamison get on making some clothes that actually fit him."

Qui-Gon looked at Dooku, then his eyes widened and his cheeks reddened. They looked down at the sleeping toddler, there was a wet spot spreading across his lower section. They shared another look, and Qui-Gon smiled, "I think we need to add diapers to a list that's probably going to grow quite rapidly over the next few days."

They shared a gentle smile. Over the last few weeks, all of their lives had changed drastically; and in a way, whatever being had just granted them his 'gift', had given them a chance to start over. Life on Serenno would never be the same.
