This story is the first part of a continuation of The Selection by Kiera Cass. Everything that is canon in the books until the end of The One is true. The Heir and the Crown are not taken into account and new characters have been replaced. After all, if he can get a ring on his finger and a crown on his head, does the thoughts of the particularly loud few even matter?

I was a little disappointed with the way The Heir and the Crown were written after falling in love with the other Selection series books, so I re-wrote them. I started at Chapter 29 in The Heir and am working my way through it with the things that I would have done differently; more character growth from Eadlyn, more character development, and a better ending (in my opinion).

Summary: It felt like a nightmare. Like at any moment, I'd wake up screaming, and everything would be back to the way it was. But I knew it wasn't. Everything was different now. The safety. The security. Everything had shifted to survival for the first time since my parents died. Spoilers for The One and The Heir

Summary: Osten Schreave never failed to surprise his family… Even at the very beginning. Timeline: Between The One and The Heir. Note: Previously published as "The Interruption" but that didn't really capture the essence of what happened in the story. I much prefer this title and feel.
