I own nothing
Viserys III Targaryen's wedding was not something anyone in the free cities dared to miss. The wedding feast was in full swing. Serylla was dressed in a fairly see-through white and gold gown. She wore a golden three-headed dragon crown with elephants on the sides of the dragon that her father had made for her. Viserys was trying to drink himself stupid at the thought of bedding a child. This was for his army, he kept telling himself. He would make an heir with her and find passion and lust elsewhere. When Lady Alaera Ostar on the arm of Illyrio caught his attention. She looked like a beacon in a sea of dark hair. She was dressed in a slightly modest yellow-orange silk gown. The gown still showed off her womanly figure. The yellow-orange gown brought out the lilac color of the eyes. Behind them walked Vilor Ostar dressed in a dark teal doublet and pants. He had dark brown wavy hair and bright amber eyes in contrast to the rest of his family. On his arm was Lera Aharah. Her dark tan skin and silk-like raven black hair made her look even more radiant in her revealing teal gown. Lera's eyes were plum-colored showing she had some Valyrian blood in her. Then came Naella, Daenys, and Faeyesa. Faeyesa was dressed in her normal dark red gown. She followed behind the two young women. Naella's silver-blonde hair was pulled to one side hairstyle. It was on the opposite side of her one-shoulder gown made of pale lilac silk. It had slit up to her thigh on her left leg. Naella's honey-colored eyes met Daenys' frantic lilac ones. Daenys by far was dressed in the most modest gown. The gown was sunset orange made to look like what was in style in Westeros only in light fabric not to have her overheat. The orange made Daenys' lilac eyes pop like no other. She looked like a modest Valyrian goddess made flesh. They all came before the newly married couple bowing, offering them gifts. The Ostar family gifted them bolts of Red and black satins, and silks. Illyrio's gift to Viserys was an orange flame-like dragon egg with gold lining each of the scales of the egg. Viserys took the egg like a cold hard stone to him. He was thanking Illyrio and them for their gift. When he caught Daenys' eyes that were locked on the dragon egg. She had a far-off look in her eyes. Naella noticed that her sister had her dreamer look on her face.
"Daenys" Naella muttered under her breath hoping to wake her sister.
"Your Grace, I wish you many happy year… years in your marriage," Daenys said meekly.
Piper's eyes danced over the lioness and two direwolves that traveled with the princess. She was even more shocked to see the mount of Joanna, Balerion. The large black stallion was surprisingly gentle with Joanna but temperamental when some Lannister soldier got too close. He seemed to be very sweet on Ser Aeron's mount Shrykos.
"My father will be honored to host you, your grace, and your party. You tell me what brings you to Seagard," Piper asked as they made their way toward Seagard castle.
"We are on our way to Riverrun," Joanna answered as she lead Balerion by his bridle.
"Riverrun makes perfect sense. Patrek will be so sad he missed you. He completed in the tourney for Hand," Piper told them.
"Patrek, I assume is your brother," Joanna asked.
"Yes, he is heir to Seagard," Piper answered. She looked over at Joanna's party. Most of them seemed to serve a purpose. The only one that seemed out of place in her party was Samwell Tarly. He did not look like much of a fighter. "Tell me why were you at the docks," Piper asked curiously.
"To hopefully see my future maester off," Joanna answered.
"Why would you need a personal maester," Piper asked.
"If you could have one completely devoted to you, wouldn't you?" Joanna asked. Piper thought about it for a long moment. Before she nodded her head. Joanna looked over to Aegon, they had shared a knowing look. Samwell Tarly would help her deliver their future heir. It made perfect sense for a Queen to have a personal Maester. Joanna's blue-green eyes locked on Piper's playful grey-blue eyes. She studied Piper's face for a moment. She had a longer face but even so, she was beautiful. Not so much like Sansa or the uncommon beauty of Lyarra or Joanna's beauty. Her eyes lit up her face. "Besides, my soon-to-be husband is the new Lord of Harrenhal. I'm not sure of the maester that is there. So, to err on the side of caution I procure a personal maester," Joanna explained.
"Make sense," Piper answered as they came to the courtyard of Seagard castle.
Piper motioned for the stable hand to come help with the horses. The horses would be fed, watered, and brushed. One of them noticed Joanna with her hands on the bridle of Balerion. He raced over to help her. Balerion was not having any of them nearly rear up. Joanna calming hand on the stallion. Made many of them gasp as the large stallion calm down and nuzzled his mistress.
"Balerion go with them," Joanna told him.
Mellario of Norvos stood beside her daughter Adrianne Martell. They watched as Viserys seemed to follow the pair of silver hair girls. Mellario's dark hair was pulled up into a half-up and half-down hairstyle. She had dark olive-tan skin and coal-black eyes. She was a beauty but not nearly as much as Adrianne was. Mellario's eyes travel to Adrianne then to Naella and Daenys with nodded her head in that direction.
"What did you see?" Naella asked.
"This marriage will not last. A dragon the color of the sun fire and silver hair maiden," Daenys replied.
Adrianne came over to the pair. She stored that information in the back of her mind that one of them was a dreamer. Naella eyes travel to Adrianne. Naella's mouth turned into a flirtatious smile. Her eyes traveled up and down Adrianne's short five-foot-two frame. She was a buxom beauty. Her hair was thick black that fell in ringlets. She was dressed in a golden gown that was slightly like Daenys dress but more revealing. Her skin was a rich tan color that is common in Essos. Adrianne returned the flirtatious look at Naella.
"Hello," Adrianne greeted.
"Hello, allow me to introduce myself and my sister. I'm Naella Ostar and this is my younger sister Daenys Ostar," Naella greeted.
"I'm Adrianne Martell," Adrianne introduced herself flirtatiously.
Adrianne noticed that Daenys seem to look out of place. She was not very sociable. She was nothing like her sister in that regard. She looked like she wore someone else skin. Naella seemed to be the only one that Daenys was comfortable around. She noted that the priestess of R'hllor stood nearby the Naella and Daenys. She was very watchful of Daenys. The priestess looked over to Alaera who was talking and flirting with Illyrio and Prince of Pentos. Alaera and the priestess exchanged a look. Alaera motioned for the priest to come to her. The priestess made her way to Alaera whispering in her ear.
"Who is the priestess," Adrianne asked.
"That is Faeyesa our family priestess much like I hear Septa are like in Westeros," Naella replied.
Adrianne nodded that made sense. She moved closer to Daenys. Adrianne quickly looked over to her mother. She nodded her head for her to continue. Adrianne and Naella had an instant connection and attraction. It was odd even as Adrianne and Naella talked Daenys did not even look at her. Instead, Daenys eyes stayed on the ground.
"You and King Viserys III had quite the staring contest Daenys," Adrianne commented touching Daenys left shoulder.
Daenys' lilac eyes lock on the large dark eyes of Adrianne. She let out a gasp. Flashes of images from Adrianne's past. It was a younger version of the man from her dream of the dragons returning. The image of young Adrianne and the younger version of the man from her dreams playing together. They were chasing each other through the water garden of Sunspear. Images changed again to show adult Aegon the Conqueror with fourteen flames around him. Adrianne looked at Daenys with a look of horror as a far-off look clouded Daenys' lilac eyes. Naella instantly pulled Daenys away from Adrianne's motion for Daenys to seat.
"Aegon… The fourteen flames gift us…Aegon the Conqueror reborn… Rhaenys and Visenya combine in one return to us to face the coming darkness in the North." Daenys muttered in a haunting voice.
Adrianne when white as a ghost at that name. She had not heard that name since her bother, Quentyn's, death When she left with her mother for Essos, giving up her title as heir to Sunspear and Lady of Dorne. She still had contact with some of her cousins. They exchange letters few and far between. But it was now clear that Daenys was Daenys the dreamer come again. She knew in that instant she needed to stay by Daenys and Naella's side. One for Aegon's destiny the other for her own personal gains.
"Naella come on let's get her outside into the fresh air," Adrianne suggested.
Naella gave her a thankful look. Not many understood what Naella did for her sister. Daenys being a dreamer was seen as a gift by many. But to Naella it seemed like it was a curse. They both took one of Daenys arms and lead her into the courtyard away from the party.
Piper led them into the main great hall of Seagard. It was where her father was at. He was talking to Maester Arin. Lord Jason was a tall lean man. His brown hair was mixed with grey. He had blue-grey eyes that pierced through many men. His face was gaunt and chiseled with high cheekbones. He was clean-shaven.
"Father, we have guests," Piper announced.
Maester Arin turned at Piper's announcement. He was a slightly larger man. He had long brown bread that was greying. His hair was more grey than brown now cut short. He spied Joanna near Ser Barristan Selmy and instantly dropped to his knees. Lord Jason Mallister pinched the bridge of his nose at his daughter's announcement. After he noticed Maester Arin on his knees he turned quickly. His blue-grey eyes widen at the sight before him. Before he also dropped to his knees.
"Your Grace, please forgive me, we were not excepting you or your party," Lord Jason pleaded.
"Arise, Lord Jason, Maester. To be fair I should send word about my pending visit. But I truly thought we would only be passing through on our way to Riverrun. Travel time has gotten the best of us," Joanna explained.
"It often does my princess," Lord Jason nodded. He turned to Maester Arin. "Maester Arin alert the maids have them ready chambers for our honor guests. Also, alert the kitchen staff and tell them to ready a feast fit for the king," Lord Jason ordered.
"Please my lord there is no need for that," Joanna tried.
"Nonsense, how often do we have royalty in our home," Jason countered leaving little room for argument.
"At once my lord," Maester Arin replied leaving them.
Joanna looked over to Tyrion. He nodded at her and motioned for her to continue. Aegon stood by her side took her hand squeezing it. It showed her that he was at her side. As much Jon hated to admit it Aegon seemed to love Joanna and she loved him in return. They were like twin flames. They were meant to burn together. It was wrong to think of anyone else but him by her side.
"Thank you for your hospitality. Allow me to introduce my party. Of course, you may recognize my uncle Lord Tyrion Lannister and my Kingsguard Lord Commander Ser Barristan Selmy," Joanna started. Lord Jason nodded a greeting to each person. Then Joanna motioned for Marleina and Lyarra to come forward. "My ladies in waiting Lady Marleina Frey and Lady Lyarra Stark. Lyarra twin brother my guard and sword and shield Ser Jon Snow. Samwell Tarly, who I hope with your help, will be heading to the citadel tomorrow to become my maester. And of course, my betrothed Lord Aeron Dayne Lord of Harrenhal," Joanna said the last part looking lovingly at Aegon.
"Welcome all of you, we are honored to have you all here," Lord Jason greeted them.
Aegon took their joined hand bringing them to his lips. He softly kissed the top of her hand. Piper was awed that the sight of the loving gesture. She moved over to her father hugging him. She started to tell him how she had found them at the docks. At that moment Meraxes, Starr, and Ghost made their presence known as they played together. Lord Jason's eyes went wide at the sight of two direwolf playing with a nearly adult lioness.
"Forgive me, my lord, these are my ladies and guard pet direwolves, Starr and Ghost. And my lioness Meraxes. I hope it will not deter you from allowing us to stay," Joanna explained.
"Not at all Princess it's just a common sight to see," Lord Jason laughed.
Viserys motioned Illyrio to come to him at the high table. Illyrio broke away from his conversation with Alaera. Lady Serylla was dancing with her older brother, Gyllan Vhassar. He had silver blonde hair. His skin was the same tan color as Serylla's. His eyes were dark brown, nearly black. Viserys silently prayed that his own children did not turn out like Gyllan. He wanted children in the image of himself. Illyrio had finally made his way over to him. Viserys took a large drink of his wine. Viserys' eyes travel the room searching for the silver hair maidens. Namely, the one that looked like a Valyrian goddess made flesh.
"Who was that family that entered with you," Viserys asked.
"The Ostar family from Tyrosh. They are descendants of Daemon Blackfyre and Lady Rohanne through Lady Alaera. There are rumors that Malero Ostar is a descendant of Princess Saera Targaryen. The woman on my arm was Lady Alaera. She is a widow and her three children. Vilor and his betrothed Lady Lera came next. Then Naella Ostar is betrothed to Tregor a merchant of Tyrosh. And finally, Daenys Ostar. She was one in the sunset orange gown," Illyrio explained.
"You told me there were no others with Valyrian decent of marriable age," Viserys growled.
"I was unaware of Daenys eligibility at the time," Illyrio countered.
"What?" Viserys growled seething in rage that he was forced to wed a child when there was a Valyrian goddess alive one of his own blood.
"She was to wed Khal Drago a Dothraki Horse Lord. But that contract fell through when her father died suddenly," Illyrio explained.
"I want her," Viserys stated plainly.
"My Prince," Illyrio tried to dissuade him.
"Aegon the conquer had two wives why shan't I? Serylla brings me my army. While Daenys will birth my heirs. Much like Aegon loved Rhaenys more than Visenya," Viserys stated leaving no room for argument.
"I'll bring her to meet you but I beg you don't want to offend Triarch Nyessos Vhassar," Illyrio told him bowing as he left.
Illyrio's eyes traveled to Alaera who raised her goblet of wine with a smug look on her face. She knew the game she was playing. Dangling Daenys in front of Viserys. Dressing her in clothes that his mother would likely wear. It was all her plan to see her daughter as Queen of Westeros. Very soon the call came for bedding. Viserys and Serylla were dragged away from the party to perform their duty as husband and wife. Serylla's face had gone ghost pale as men started to strip her as she was led to the bed chamber. Viserys had a look of indifference as women removed their clothes. His eyes scanned the room hoping to catch sight of Daenys. He will bed his bride with any luck she would become with child. Thus, Nyessos would have no reason to complain when he took Daenys as his second wife. As he bedded his child bride he would picture Daenys in her place.
Lord Varys headed for the Tower of Hand to meet with Lord Stark. He made his way into Ned's study. One of his guards stood outside of the door.
"How is your son, my lord?" Varys asked.
"He'll never walk again" Ned answered not pausing the movement of his quill.
"But his mind is sound?" Vary asked, shutting the other window.
"So, they say," Ned answered.
"A blessing then I suffered an early mutilation myself. Some doors close forever" Varys started to shut the door, leaving just Lord Stark and Varys in the room. "Others open in the most unexpected places. May I?" Vary asked motioning to the chair.
Ned nodded, looking at Varys fully. Varys sat down before he continued his statement.
"If the wrong ears heard what I'm about to tell you off comes my head. And who would mourn poor Varys then? North or South they sing no songs for spiders. But there are things you must know. You are the King's Hand. And the king is a fool. Your friend, I know, but a fool and doom unless you save him."
"I've been in the capital for three months why have you waited so long to tell me this? Ned asked.
"I didn't trust you," Varys stated.
"So why do you trust me now?" Ned asked.
"The queen is not the only one who has been watching you closely. There are few men of honor in the capital. You are one of them. I would like to believe I am another one, strange as that may seem." Varys stated.
"What sort of doom does the king face?" Ned asked.
"The same sort as Jon Arryn. The tears of Lys, they called it. A rare and costly thing, a clear as tasteless as water, it leaves no trace." Lord Varys said.
Ned stood up looking out to the city. His mind was Jon Arryn. The man was like a second father to him. He thought of the man that shaped him into the man he was now. Who would do this to that man?
"Who gave it to him?" Ned asked.
"Some dear friend, no doubt; but which one? There were many. Lord Arryn was a kind and trusting man. There was one boy. All he was he owed to Jon Arryn." Varys suggested.
"The squire Ser Hugh?" Ned asked.
"Pity what happened to him; just when his life seemed to be going so nicely," Varys said.
"If Ser Hugh poisoned him, who paid Ser Hugh," Ned asked.
"Someone who could afford it," Vary stated.
"Jon was a man of peace. He was hand for eighteen …eighteen good years. Why kill him?" Ned asked.
"He started asking questions," Varys said.
Joanna was led by a guard from Seagard to a balcony overlooking the Ironman's Bay of Sunset Sea. Lord Jason Mallister stood there with his hands on the railings. The sun was setting. The water looked dazing array of colors. She was now out of her riding gown and instead dressed for dinner in a golden and silver gown. It reflected the fading light from the setting sun. Aegon served as her guard. He had both Blackfyre and Dawn on his waist.
"Mi Lord Princess Joanna as requested," the guard stated.
"Thank you, Ser Addam, leave us," Lord Jason ordered.
Ser Addam left them on the balcony. He bowed to Joanna as he left. Lord Jason turned, looking at the pair. They did make a striking pair. He motioned for Joanna to come closer. She did so with a charming smile on her face.
"I have arranged passage for your maester to arrive at Old Town on board the Syren under the command of one best sea captains I know," Lord Jason told her.
"Thank you, my Lord," Joanna said.
"Think nothing of it. I am happy to help you, Princess," Lord Jason started. They stood by each other overlooking the sea. He had a calming presence for her. Even though he was very capable of general. Lord Jason looked over as the light played over Joanna's features. It was clear the story of her beauty where true. There was more to her beauty than outward appearance, she seemed to have a good heart. Piper had not talked about anything else but Joanna since they came back to the castle. "My daughter has talked of nothing else but you, Princess," Lord Jason told her.
"She is a very charming lady," Joanna commented.
"I truly hoped that she was not too much for you," Lord Jason said knowing his daughter.
"Not at all, she reminded me of Myrcella's bubbly personality," Joanna told him. She looked over to Lord Jason. He had a relieved look on his face. Joanna then looked behind her to Aegon. He nodded to her knowing what she was thinking. "I have been reading for many years of Targaryen royalty women having ladies in waiting to be their friends and in the hope that said ladies would find good husbands. Your daughter is not betrothed to anyone, is she?" Joanna asked.
Lord Jason looked over to Joanna in shock. She surely could not be suggesting what he thought she was suggesting. His eyes were wide. Joanna gave him a questioning look. It made him realize that she had asked him a question. His mind played catch up as he processed what she said.
"No, your highness, forgive me. I am shocked you have taken quite an interest in her in just one meeting," Lord Jason explained.
"My sister has been sent to Dorne. I know I'll miss her dearly. As I said, your daughter reminds me of her in many ways. If it is not too much to ask. Lord Mallister, I would like to offer your daughter a place in my ladies in waiting," Joanna told him.
"Truly," Jason asked shocked.
"Yes, my Lord," Joanna stated.
"She will be honored to be. I will tell her at once, so the maids can help her pack," Lord Jason stated leaving them quickly.
Joanna and Aegon are on the balcony watching the setting sun. Aegon came closer wrapping his arm around her. He slowly started to sing to her in High Valyrian.
"Drakari pykiros
Tīkummo jemiros
Yn lantyz bartossa
Saelot vāedis
Hen ñuhā elēnī:
Perzyssy vestretis
Se gēlȳn irūdaks
Ānogrose
Perzyro udrȳssi
Ezīmptos laehossi
Hārossa letagon
Aōt vāedan
Hae mērot gierūli:
Se hāros bartossi
Prūmȳsa sōvīli
Gevī dāerī" Aegon sang. (1)
Joanna turned as the last note was sung. She leaned closer to Aegon kissing him. They were lost in each other they did not notice that Ser Barristan came onto the balcony. He looked like a ghost. He knew that singing voice. That was Rhaegar's voice. Suddenly all became clear to him who Lord Aeron was. He was Aegon Targaryen, son of Rhaegar. To many the right heir to the Iron Throne. The only thing that seemed to calm Ser Barristan's fear was the seeming loving look shared between Joanna, Robert's daughter, and Rhaegar's son, Aegon.
Tywin was in his study. The only light was the roaring fire in the fireplace and the candles burning around the room. He was reading reports from the guard serving Tyrion and traveling with Joanna. A guard knocked on the door.
"Enter," Tywin called not looking up.
"A message from your sister Lady Genna," the guard stated.
Tywin looked up from the letter sticking his hand out for the letter. The man quickly handed it to him. Tywin waved him off. The guard bowed and quickly left the room. Tywin rubbed the bridge of his nose thinking what his sister could want. He could feel a headache coming on. He placed the soldier's letter down. He broke the seal of his sister's letter ready to get whatever it was over with. He rose from his seat and started to pace like a caged lion as he read his sister's words. He had a pleased smile on his face as he read how much of a lioness Joanna was. But that smile quickly faded and turned into a frown as he read that Joanna had not headed toward the King's Road but instead headed in the direction of Casterly Rock and Riverrun. Tywin walked back over to his desk sinking into his chair. The letter fell from his hands. His eyes travel to portraits of his wife and granddaughter. He quickly realized that something had happened. He had no clue as to what, but something happened, he was sure of it. Another knock sounded at the door. Maester Creylen entered the room. He was not giving any time for Tywin to think.
"What is it?" Tywin asked annoyed.
"A letter from Kings Landing," Maester Creylen answered placing the scroll on Tywin's desk.
Tywin nodded his head and Maester Creylen left the room quickly. He shut the door quickly. Tywin's mind was racing trying to figure out why Joanna would head toward Riverrun. Every answer that filled his mind made his frown deepen. His eyes travel to the map of Westeros over the fireplace. The soldiers with Tyrion had written of how she charmed every northern lord. To the point that they were eating out the palm of her hand. Yet, she was a lioness with Lord Walder Frey. Now she was heading to Riverrun. It all added up to one thing in Tywin's mind. And that was allies. But one question filled his mind why would she need allies? He let out a sigh. He could not think of that now. He took the scroll from King Landing. Two pieces of paper fell onto his table. One was shortly writing a letter from one of his spies in King Landing, a maid. It was a way to ensure that Joanna was safe. It said something about finding this in Robert's study as she was cleaning. Tywin set aside the letter to pick up the second piece of paper. As Tywin read the paper his eyes went wide. It was a royal edict that stated that Joanna was his sole heir to Iron Throne. She would be the first ruling Queen. It named her Princess of Dragonstone over Stannis. It bore King Robert's seal and it even had his signature on it will all his titles. Seven Hells, that was why she needed allies.
(1)Firebreather
Winged leader
But two heads
To a third sing
From my voice:
The fires have spoken.
And the price has been paid.
With blood magic
With words of flame
With clear eyes
To bind the three
To you, I sing
As one we gather.
And with three heads
We shall fly as we were destined.
Beautifully, freely.
