Prologue: Forever Changed
Francois' frantic finger tapped against the console before him, molded plastic clacking in repeated abuse. The screens before him flashed with warnings of death. Alarms blared at him from the hallway. Crimson light flooded the room
A dark chuckle escaped his lips at the chaos of the world around him. They had done it; by the heavens above had they gone and accomplished it. They had gone and usurped the Brother Gods in a misguided act of defiance at their natural law. All to stitch the pain and suffering that plagued Remnant.
Their brilliance had manufactured longevity for those who lacked aura; a cure for the ones stricken by the incurable; a shimmer of hope for those that laid broken and defeated.
Project Rex, their magnum opus, had became much more of a success than any of them could even conjure in a dream. A living being that would usher in a new age of prosperity and health. A boon to mend the world.
What fools they were to believe that such follies would go unpunished.
Fast fingers continued to tap away as heavy eyes couldn't help but drift away from the monitors before him and peer into the enclosed white room behind them where his wife comforter their only son. Young hands gingerly tapped at a mechanical white egg, youthful eyes glowed a bright pale blue as traces inked along his fingertips and bled into the device. Every face that made up the egg twitched to life at the boys command, extending and retracting at his concentrated will.
Guilt and shame washed over the man as he observed his son; the weight of their sins were now planted firmly upon the boy's young shoulders as the Gods bared their fangs. Project Rex, his own flesh and blood, would now be the sacrifice to the hounds that demanded their pound of flesh.
It didn't take long for the gods of war to bare witness to the capabilities his son now exercised. After the hounds dreamt of crimsons they came barking, demanding subservience. When their cries for weapons had been met with declination, fangs turned to the weak. Six of his daughters had been slaughtered like lambs in the quiet of the night. Faces twisted in slow agony, left hanging by the entrails as a lesson of what defiance meant. Most of his team were now resting in the earth below
All for the demand of war.
Project Black Knight fell into existence shortly after the trail of bodies were discovered, a young woman taken in from the streets and subjected to the same experiment that saved his son, all to satiate the lust for blood.
A bittersweet chuckle passed his lips at the thought. All of their efforts would amount in vein; Black Knight was incomplete in comparison to Rex. The young woman who was promised power unrivaled would be left wanting.
A small solace at the end of the world.
"We have everything ready on our end, Arc!" Gabriel called out from down the hall. "Their rat is making his way down now!"
Francois cursed at his luck as he gazed upon his wife and son in more time. He believed he had more time than this. He should have had more time to be able to leave a proper goodbye to his only son. To say his farewells to his wife. "May the Brothers' have mercy on our souls," he mumbled under his breath. Lines upon lines of commands lit up the screens before him as his wife placed his son to sleep, sealing him away from the sins they were about to commit. "Be strong, Jaune, don't let the gods make monsters of men."
With the press of a button, he had forever changed the world in the worst way possible.
All to thwart the gods of war.

An explosion rocked the world today as a research facility at the edge of Anima went up in flames-
Strange machines called nanites have been discovered in the bloodstream, what they do and their relation to the research facility still remain a mystery-
Strange mutations have been sighted across the globe-
Many are pointing fingers at the revelation of Exponentially Variegated Organisms, stating that it is either a mutation of Faunus genetics or Humans becoming the monsters they really are-
The link between the Nanites and EVOs have been made, yet no headway to discerning how it happens or predicting when has not been made-
Reports of a boy curing the effects of active nanites has yet to be verified-

His body was wracked in pain, every muscle screaming in agony as he came to the world of fire. He could feel the electric air wash over him as voices of people became clearer. Who were they? What were they doing?
His mind enshrouded in a thick fog, a heavy blanket hiding everything in the recesses of his conscious. Why was it so dark? A yalp of pain escaped his lips as he attempted to sit up, striking against something he could not make out. All he could see were the flames beyond the gaps of his confinement, making him aware of the world outside.
How did he get here? What happened to set everything ablaze? The thick fog came back once again in force, his head pounding as he tried to recall what had led him to this point.
His eyes glowed a blue white as blue traces sprawled along his limbs.
What was he?
