Chapter 4- The Queen Bee
The bell rang out for lateness as soon as I walked through the front door for potions "Nijhoff, Freya." I knew her, she sat behind me in charms class in year 2. A teachers pet from what I remember. "Nott, back." Snape looked up to find me slip down next to Cassie and he rolled his eyes "Very well Miss Nott, now turn to page 247 in your books and copy out the next 10 pages in great detail and after, we'll be making a concoction of veritaserum and whoever makes the potion even close to the true brew will only have to do 10 out of the 15 pages that will be for your homework." We all groaned and Mattheo looked over at me and sent me a quick fly Note, a noting system made by the Weasley twins and were made to send quick messages across class and once the message is opened, it shows you their recipient. I caught the Note and I saw Mattheos name in bright red ink and the message read
Look, I know how to make Veritaserum, I'll show you once you're done, trust in me. Fellow Slytherin.

I leaned back in my chair and looked him straight in the eye, I took out some fly Note paper and scribbled a reply
Alright, I promise on our founder Salazar Slytherin that I will buy you sweets and a round of butterbeer next time we go to Hogsmeade, that's a promise.

He nodded in reply and I quickly flipped open my book and stared writing and nudged Cassie to start writing and slipped her a scrap of fly Note
If we get a move on, Mattheo will show us how to make the veritaserum. Roughly copy mine. X
She nodded and started writing a detailed paragraph about the makings of veritaserum. I smiled and we wrote in silence until Cassie wrote me a Fly Note
U done? I'm gonna go over, I'll save you a spot.
I nodded and smiled and she headed over and sat down next to Mattheo and chuckled. I finished up my last page and scribbled down my name. I sat down next to Mattheo and he carefully crafted the ingredients and then slipped me a note under the table, he nodded, I spied it a quick glance under the table and chuckled.
Snapes nose looks like a coat hook when he looks down, watch.
I spun around and watched as Snape looked down on Susan Bones' concoction and as I observed, Mattheo was right. I chuckled and held in a laugh, I bit my tongue hard until the coppery taste of blood filled my mouth. He chuckled whilst stirring his cauldron, I rolled my eyes and stirred mindlessly.
"Wanna sneak out?" Mattheo whispered into my ear. He handed me my bag and whispered it to Cassie and she started to slip under the table.
I smirked and followed them out and we raced down the corridor until we reached the Slytherin common room. "Missed being in this place." I took a bowl of pumpkin fizzles, a gift from the Weasley twins and held it on my lap as I laid out on the velveted couch as Mattheo poked the fire and rested in a leather armchair. "Was it nice not having to worry about anything, no homework, no teachers on your back."
I shrugged, I guess I'd never thought about that. "I don't really know, it was mostly father on my back about the fact of me not doing with my homework or hanging out with my other friends from Beauxbatons. But now, I'm happy to be back with old friends and new friends and maybe new alliances." I looked back at Mattheo and he smiled. The bell rang out for dinner as I had been taken out of all my morning classes to get settled back in. Cassie fixed up her hair and changed her large hoops for studs and all three of us headed down to the great hall, deep in conversation and laughter. We looked around and finally found Pansy and Theo playfighting, Cassie looked at me and whispered in my ear "if they're not dating before the school year ends, I'll give you 200 galleons." She offered and I observed the body movements of Pansy and Theo, when you're suspended and nearly every day is full of couples around Diagon Alley with romantic body language you start to learn the idea. It was seeming to be romantic. "You got yourself a deal, come on. Sit next to me." I grabbed her wrist and we ran to sit next to Pansy."Hey." She smiled and hugged my shoulders, Mattheo sat himself down on the opposite side of Cassie. Astoria and Val came few minutes later before Professor Dumbledore made his mandatory speech. "Welcome back but I have an announcement to make, one of our fourth year students will need to be under protection by staff and students and a certain dark wizard has left them a Fly Note letter which I will read aloud
Be very careful what you're doing, you're stepping over the mark. Perhaps I'll kill your father like I killed your mother. Mark my words Miss Nott.
