Chapter 74: Dream come true

Together.

The word circled in Izaya's mind like a drunken bumble bee aiming for a flower's mid. A dream.

He had to be dreaming, right?

It was early morning, barely a few hours since the sun rose.

Birds were chirping away happily from the top of trees and a warm breeze quietly sneaked into the chamber. Sunlight grazed past the border of the stone cold window ledge and touched Izaya's shoulder.

There he was.

Peacefully resting like a freshly budded flower in the midst of spring.

Shizuo.

The king.

The one he loved.

Brighter than the sun's rays, Shizuo's hair glowed in the late morning hours. How? Why? Those words circled in Izaya's mind non stop as he looked at the king's peaceful expression.

As if having noticed Izaya's eyes resting on his body, Shizuo's suddenly opened. Slowly, a little perplexed and disheveled.

It was an expression that caused Izaya to chuckle. "Good morning," he whispered quietly, and Shizuo's mind finally arrived at the current setting.

Izaya.

Wearing nothing but his queenly nightgown. They were sleeping in the same bed. Izaya's bed. Together.

And it was as if yesterday's events suddenly replayed in Shizuo's mind as he spotted the hints of his actions. A few kiss marks, small, but present, aligned right underneath the shallow scar on Izaya's collarbone. His hair was disheveled and the red dress he had worn resting on the bed's side stand.

Happiness of unknown magnitude threatened to transform Shizuo into a grinning mess of a man. "This is also a way to wake up."

"A bad one?" Izaya suggested, and Shizuo couldn't help but laugh.

"The worst."

Pillows shifted and the blanket brushed off his body as the king reached out for his fake queen. Palm cupping Izaya's face Shizuo's mind remained trapped in the sight presented before him and the sheer bliss he felt.

"Did I fall asleep?" Izaya asked quietly, and Shizuo smiled.

"Fast as lightning."

Their ride home from lord Karch's estate had not been what they had expected. "Sorry," Izaya apologized- for what he wasn't even sure of.

"Don't be," Shizuo chuckled. "Mika's sister had some questions anyway."

They had given her a ride.

Fixing their attires as well as they could, they had headed towards the carriages with the intention to go home as quickly as possible.

After everything that had happened at the banquet neither Izaya nor Shizuo had been willing to talk to anyone but each other.

But fate had yet again crossed their plans.

A young girl with striking similarity to Mika's face had waited by their carriage. It was her sister. Having finally ascended the proper age she wanted to offer her service to the queen directly and join her sister in her work at the castle.

An ambitious goal, and certainly not the way servants were usually added, but Shizuo liked her guts and Izaya-

"You think Mika scolded her?" Izaya mumbled quietly, referring to the younger sister and Shizuo smiled.

"She is motivated, just like her sister. I think that's a sweet trait."

Izaya agreed. "So do I."

They had given her a ride. Inside the carriage.

Of course she offered to ride outside but Izaya saw it as cruel to be out in the dark and cold for so long as the only real woman present.

The ride had taken a while and by the time they arrived back at their castle Izaya had been too tired to keep awake for long.

Apart from heading for his chamber and putting on his nightgown he barely remembered anything that followed. Shizuo had yet to follow, and for the tiniest fraction of a second Izaya recalled wondering if all of the previous evening had been nothing but a blissful dream.

But it wasn't.

Shizuo's presence, his hand reaching out to brush across his cheek and vibrant expression was enough to make sure that this was his new reality.

"I still can't believe you are here," Shizuo suddenly whispered and Izaya felt his heart skip a beat at the way they even shared their disbelief of their current situation.

"You act like you expected me to run away the second you close your eyes," he whispered and Shizuo snorted.

"You know what I mean."

"Do I?" Teases, whispers of love and everything accompanying those were something Izaya thought he would never hear or speak himself. Not back at his father's mansion with his body's condition. Not after heading out in the disguise of a woman, faked to proceed with a marriage that wasn't supposed to happen.

And yet right now-

Glancing towards Shizuo's lips the king needed no extra invitation to lean in and follow the silent request.

Softly his lips pressed against Izaya's. It was a simple kiss- or at least it started as such as it went on and on and on.

Only after what felt like a blissful eternity did they part and Izaya smiled as he toppled the king into his back.

"Bold." Shizuo hummed, not resisting the action in the slightest.

"You dislike it?" Izaya asked, but his question was by no means a real one.

Leaning up Shizuo brushed across Izaya's cheek with a quiet whisper. "I wouldn't dare to."

Everything was just too smooth, too pleasant, too easy- it caused Izaya's expression to drop for a second as he started to doubt what they had.

"... we didn't really get to talk," he mouthed slowly and Shizuo seemed as confused by the topic change as he was surprised.

"About what?"

Sighing softly, Izaya met Shizuo's eyes.

"... us?"

Nothing but innocent questions appeared in Shizuo's eyes at the single word and Izaya almost regretted bringing the topic up.

"Is there anything left to discuss?"

"No, but like-" hesitating for a second he tried to put the mess they were getting themselves into, into words. "What are we going to do from now on? What about the maids? The servants? How are we supposed to act and-"

Lips on his knuckles caused his rant of worries to cease as Shizuo had scooped up his wrist and brought it to his lips.

No shred of doubt, worry or insecurity laid in Shizuo's eyes as he gazed up at his worried queen.

"Stop wrecking your head," he ordered, as if it were an action so easily ceased.

"Easier said than done," Izaya whispered, and suddenly Shizuo leant up. A kiss was brought against Izaya's forehead- soft and gentle, just like the one Shizuo had cast upon them before heading towards the banquet.

It caused Izaya's swarming thoughts to halt for just a second and allowed him to focus on the here and now.

"Let me take care of you," Shizuo pleaded as he trailed the kisses down to his eyelid, to his cheek, his neck. "I will be here. Wherever you want me whenever you want me. No matter what anyone says, no matter what happens." Smiling against Izaya's skin, Shizuo seemed a bit amused by his own words as he lifted his face to look at Izaya. "You better tell me off properly or I will just be fawning over you day and night."

Looking at his king, Izaya couldn't help but wonder- how?

How did a few gazes and pretty words make him feel as though everything was going to be fine?

"You act like it's so easy," he whispered, but most of his doubts had already miraculously vanished.

"It is," Shizuo persisted. "I love you. You love me. What else is there to think about?"

And suddenly it was there.

Blissful laughter. Quiet chuckles, bubbling right from Izaya's heart.

"What?" Shizuo asked, as his own lips curled into a smile.

"Nothing. It's just-" Izaya sighed content. "I can't believe I can get this close to you without having to think about it."

Close, huh?

Misschief of a pleasant nature snuck onto Shizuo's expression and he hummed.

"You can get even closer."

Within a split second the warm and cozy atmosphere turned up the heat. Shizuo was just looking at Izaya, and yet he felt as though those eyes were undressing him from top to bottom.

He was still sitting on top of him- which certainly didn't help the craving sensation gathering in the pits of his stomach. Shizuo's hand, having rested on his lower knee, was suddenly gliding upwards.

Slowly.

Just beneath the rim of Izaya's night gown, and Izaya shuddered.

"Anything I want?" he whispered and Shizuo swallowed.

Almost immediately he felt heat gather in his body and it certainly didn't help when he felt Shizuo's arousal come to life and press against him from below.

"Then I would like you," Izaya whispered, and grasped the thin fabric separating his skin from Shizuo's. "Right now."

It was a bold request, something Izaya wouldn't even have dreamed to ever say out aloud and yet right now they were just the right words.

Just where or when Shizuo had brought walnut oil to their room was a riddle only the king himself was able to discern- but apparently it was near and the king even faster in applying it.

Thighs were grabbed and before he knew it Shizuo's dick aligned.

Head lowering into Shizuo's shoulder Izaya suppressed a soft moan mixed with both a slight bit of strain as well as straight out pleasure-

He had never done it with a man before, nor considered it- but now? The previous night hadn't moved all too far into the distance and yet he was already here again wishing for this sensation to never end.

Bedsheets were grabbed, names toppled off each other's lips and for a second nothing but their skin pressed against each other mattered.

It was as beautiful as it was scary. To lose oneself to emotions and cravings as hard as this.

Birds chirped on without sparing a moment to even glance into their direction, and only upon one last high pitched moan did they take off as Izaya's body trembled in Shizuo's arms.

He could feel it. Shizuo deep inside him. And the way he had reached his own peak.

Out of breath and hot Izaya was left to gasp for air as he tried to recollect his earlier thoughts. But he met Shizuo's eyes again and all coherent strings of thoughts were immediately abandoned.

How?

How could a single man drive him mad to this degree? A single glance was all he needed and everything on his mind was just a blank slate filled with the stupid urge to smile.

"Is this how we will wake up every day?" Izaya breathed quickly as he tried to catch his breath and Shizuo laughed before letting his forehead connect with Izaya's shoulder.

"Don't give me any ideas." Patterns of touch trailed up Izaya's arms as Shizuo's fingers wandered and Izaya smiled.

"Could get used to it."

It was then that the smell of meat and vegetables being roasted in a stove traveled all the way up to their window and inside the room.

The blinding sun was all the way up and it took Izaya a second to realize just how long they had slept and how much time they had already wasted just resting in bed.

"We should get breakfast," Shizuo announced and Izaya laughed out loud at the funny description.

"You mean lunch," he corrected, but Shizuo already seemed far gone again as he was mesmerized by Izaya. Every action, every syllable spoken, every expression made just seemed so perfect in his eyes. Shizuo felt as though he was looking at an infinitely gorgeous painting, discovering new details every time he dared to blink and set his eyes off it for even a moment.

"You are so beautiful," he whispered and Izaya snorted.

"Am I?"

Quick flicks of knuckles meeting the door from outside startled them both in their daze and Izaya quickly moved down from Shizuo and pulled the blanket up to his chest.

"Yes?"

Slowly the door to the chamber opened and Izaya's favourite maid stepped into the room.

"My king, my lady, lunch is ready if you would like," Mika announced with a quick bow- a bow that seemed somewhat off. Izaya had seen his favourite servant so many times and she had always carried an air of ease and happiness around her. But right now that seemed to miss and his brows furrowed slightly.

"We are coming in a moment," Shizuo announced with a gentle smile, oblivious to the arguably small change and so she motioned to leave.

"Mika, wait."

Startled to be addressed by her name the woman stopped in her steps and turned with mild perplexion. Shizuo mirrored the expression as he looked at Izaya.

"You look troubled," Izaya pointed out, and it seemed he had hit the nail on the head as Mika quickly brightened her expression.

"I apologize- I didn't mean to."

That was not what Izaya meant to achieve.

"Tell me," he insisted with gentle strictness. "What's wrong?"

And suddenly it was as though he had set a cannon loose.

"I'm very sorry!" Bowing as deeply as possible the woman blurted out with her true feelings. "I had no idea what my sister intended to do. Had I known I would have told her off. Approaching you at the banquet like this and even imposing on you for a ride here-" Blinking surprised it took Izaya a second to understand why she felt the need to apologize. Offering her a ride was Izaya's choice and even her offer of working at the castle had not struck offense. But now that he thought about it, nobility was more often than not inconvenienced by such actions and he smiled.

"It's fine," Izaya interrupted her quickly and she raised her gaze.

"My lady?"

"Your sister reminds me of you in both her manner and appearance, how could I not take her back with me?" Izaya explained, sparing no effort to show her how much he appreciated everything she had done.

"Then-" Mika mumbled and Izaya nodded.

"I'm neither mad for her approach nor do I hold any ill grudges for taking her back. She wants to be a servant in this castle, right? Show her around and help her so she can act on her new role to the fullest."

Not even the sun's brightness could have rivaled Mika's expression at that moment as she bowed with her usual excitement.

"Thank you very much! I will do so right away!"

And with those words she left, eager to act on her lady's orders and Shizuo chuckled softly as he hugged Izaya from behind.

"What?"

"Everytime I think I can't fall more in love with you, you convince me otherwise," the king pointed out and Izaya snorted.

"She is like family to you. Just like James and all the others. Did you expect me to treat her poorly?" Of course not.

Shizuo had seen how Izaya interacted with the servants of the castle.

"You say that like you are putting up an act but I can see you truly like her," he pointed out and Izaya tilted his head back as he gazed at Shizuo's face.

"Is that bad?"

Bad, huh?

"In the eyes of proper nobility it would be scandalous," Shizuo whispered but all Izaya had to offer was a smile, pure as the feelings he held and showed for Shizuo and everyone else.

"Good thing we aren't proper nobility."

YO xD Happy new year haha

Sorry I took a while to write this chapter xD Sometimes, especially when I write intense scenes or small climaxes of a story I get so hyper focused on the important scene that I forget to plan out the little dialogues that should follow xDDD

Which happened here hahaha I got almost the entire rest of the story fleshed out, just this small bit until….. a certain event- has been left with no dialogues xDDD

With that being said, enjoy the honeymoon phase as long as it lasts and see you next friday C:
