11 years later
Yusho Sakaki and Shuzo Hiragi were currently at You Show Duel School watching their daughters have another match.
After taking in the girls, things had changed for both of them. While Shuzo had given up pro dueling to focus more on being a good father, Yusho managed to rise to the top and become the champion. After that, they opened up a duel school to pass down their knowledge and beliefs in dueling to the next generation, obviously including their girls.
As Yusho watched Yuya summon Odd-Eyes Dragon, he remembered how she summoned the dragon for the first time, smiling at the memory. The dragon had practically nuzzled up to her and licked her cheek as if it was a puppy. Now, though, it always helped her out in her duels, carrying her across the action field and protecting her from any attack.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when the duel concluded with Yuya's victory.
After walking over to her friend, Yuya helped Yuzu up and smiled at her.
"That's two wins for both of us. Now we're even." Yuya said.
"Won't last long. I'll win all rounds next time and finally break that endless tie of ours." Yuzu said, to which both of them started laughing. Their fathers watched them fondly.
After saying their goodbyes for the day, Yuya and Yusho left and stopped at the bridge across the stadium.
He could see his daughter was excited to see his title match tomorrow as they looked at the sunset.
After a while, she turned to him and asked, "Isn't Strong Ishijima... the challenger this time really strong?"
"Yeah, but don't worry. No matter how strong he is, Dad will do his best. So you should do your best in your matches, Yuya."
"Yeah, I'll win and become a duelist just like you, Dad," she said, smiling.
Yusho chuckled at that and rubbed her hair.
"Yuya, you've got that a bit wrong. Instead of being like me, it's more important to be like yourself."
"Like myself?"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a card.
"Yes, while it's okay to look up to me, you shouldn't try to be like me. Instead, just be yourself. And maybe this will help with that," he said as he handed her the card.
After seeing the card Yuya's eyes widened in excitement and she smiled.
"Okay, I'll do my best," she said.
Despite not remembering them properly, Yuya's dreams at night are mostly the same as tonight: playing around with the monsters of her deck on a flower field beneath a beautiful night sky and a shining moon, a light breeze blowing, and little birds in the trees.
While she was playing, she didn't notice a pair of eyes watching her fondly from afar. Shining with happiness at the young girl enjoying her dream.
The next day, Yuya was excited to see her father duel. But after arriving at the stadium, things didn't go the way she thought.
The announcer called the duelists to the field, but after a while, Yusho still hadn't shown up, and the crowd was getting frustrated. Even the announcer didn't know what was going on, adding to the confusion.
"Got cold feet, Yusho?!" Ishijima yelled out.
At that, his fans started joining in, jeering that he ran away because he was scared of loosing.
At that moment, Yuya ran to the railing and yelled at Ishijima that her father would come, and until he did, she would duel him. At that moment, Yoko came behind her and put her in her arms, dragging her away while Yuya was crying her eyes out.
Even after everything was over, Yusho didn't even show up at home. He had become a coward in everyone's eyes.
Yuya was lying on her bed, crying herself to sleep.
This time, the plain in her dream was different. Dark clouds obscured the sky, no breeze stirred, and the flowers had all disappeared. She lay curled up in the grass, surrounded by absolute silence. The only sound was her soft sobs, even in her dream. Her monsters watched. Even though they wanted to comfort her, it was as if her sadness had created a barrier that kept them away. The same eyes that watched her fondly were now full of sympathy, as if they understood her pain and loneliness. Unable to go and comfort her, the eyes just gazed at the clouded sky, as if wishing for everything to go back to how it was.
