BREAKING THE FANTASY
Written by Gwendolyn Frost.
Note: Made some changes to chapters 5 and 11 to include the reference to the real name of Adegast's puppet whose name is Nevareth Bladestrife. I honestly forgot this character had a name, I'm so sorry! Also, I'm sure I may have retconned some of Vee's past lore, but I'm taking some creative freedom for the sake of the narrative.
Trigger warnings: Death, Murder.
Gravesfield is a town that's dormant during the late hours of the night. There are hardly any people awake at this time, let alone roaming on the streets. However, no matter the place, even in a quiet town just like this one - you will always find people built for the nocturnal life. Whether they're loners drowning their worries in alcohol, workers of all kinds from doctors, nurses, janitors, security guards, etc. But also… there's people who can only operate at night. Those with something to hide from the public eye.
There on those poorly lit streets where the Green House Foundation Shelter is one of those people unloading boxes from a truck into the building; Bret Blanche. The man has crossed paths with Luz and her friends twice now, for Luz… he is known as the guy that looks like a human version of one of Adegast's puppets - Nevareth Bladestrife. But in the Human Realm, this man is not a puppet, at least not in the literal sense of things. He and the people helping him work for someone much more powerful in town.
"It's done." Bret spoke into a small phone that seemed to pre-date smartphones, possibly a disposable phone.
"Good." The voice of a mature woman replied to him on the other side of the phone. "Congratulations, this is the last job of this kind you will do. And a brand new job is awaiting for you in the office. Better hours, better pay. Are you sure you're ready for it, Mister Blanche?"
"Of course, don't worry. I won't let you down, Mrs Greene." The large muscular man said with a cocky smile on his face.
"You better, I invested a lot in you. Your family has never failed me, so you better not be the first one to do so."
"Thank you. But no need for lectures. I'm ready, I assure you."
"Great. Now go home and rest. And I mean it. Don't go off parading yourself in the middle of the night for your oblivious fans online like you always do. It's a risk that you let everyone know where you are at every hour of the day." The woman said with a rather frustrated tone in her voice.
"First of all, it's cute that you're concerned about my well-being." Bret said with a soft playful laugh. "And two, this is Gravesfield. The most boring place on Earth. Nothing exciting ever happens here, which is perfect for you and your business but… it does need a little more flavor for someone like me. You got to see things through my eyes, you keep the morons engaged and you will have them willing to take a bullet for you. Mindlessly investing in you in many ways you can think of. My life is secured, I'm untouchable now!"
"Heh…"
"What's so funny?" Bret was taken aback by the response he got.
"No one is untouchable, Bret. Not even me. Hence why I'm worried that this little fame of yours doesn't interfere with your obligations with me. I hope you don't get to learn this the hard way, because if I have to choose between you and me…" She didn't say anything for a few seconds, the silence conveyed exactly the point she was trying to make. "Understood?"
Bret's cockyness was killed right there and then, the seriousness in her tone made the large muscular man once filled with confidence and defiance to a scaredy mess who was sweating and swallowing his spit as he humbled himself in order to give her a response that was somewhat stuttering out of his mouth. "U-understood."
"Now, go home."
When Bret hung up, he palmed his jeans as he made his way into his car only to realize his keys were not there. Frustrated, he looked around the site with no luck and was forced to walk his way back home.
As Bret continued to walk off following a trail close to the forest, he pulled out his smartphone to stream live, completely forgetting the warning he got from his boss.
"Heeey, it's your boy Bret, hope you all night dwellers are having a good night… or morning even! I just walked off a party, I'm celebrating early for my upcoming victory in a few weeks. Campaign is going smoothly and I got no one else to thank but you. You are amazing! Seriously, as soon as I get back home I'm doing a toast for each and every one of you that have supported me all of these years, in my ups and downs…"
The man, obliviously, continued ranting on the streets, what he only cared for were the comments on his chat that were boosting his ego:
vynilenjoyr: ur amazing!
tcgduelist: aww, no thnk u for doin all that great content!
memereviewer: Bret, give me a shout out plz!
"Chat, you are the amazing ones. We did all this content together fam, don't discredit yourself!" He winks at the camera. "Memereviewer, always a pleasure!"
dbLooper: whos that behind u?
"Thank you! Eh?" Bret said while he kept streaming before turning to look behind him to see… no one. "T-there's no one behind me, chat, stop trying to scare me." The man laughed before he got a few more concerned messages in his feed.
tcgduelist: oh, I see it now!
oolongslayer1000: behind you!
fgcscrublord: someone is literally stalking you! turn around now!
vynilenjoyr: don't turn around! just run! RUN!
Bret was trying to pay attention to his surroundings while at the same time looking at the screen of his phone reading those panicked messages on his feed. The streets on his left barely lit the place, but the pitch-black darkness of the forest was soon swallowing whole. For a little short of a minute he was moving his eyes while his ears were able to hear something… something that was stalking him in the dark awaiting an opportunity to catch him by surprise.
"You better not mess with me! Whoever you are!" Bret exclaimed as his words landed on deaf ears in the dark open space until… something launched towards him when he got distracted and plunged a sharp object into his abdomen which was able to pierce through. The phone flew off his hand as he tried to push the dark figure before him with both hands which caused the object to be violently removed making the open wound start spraying some of that internal vital red.
Bret groaned in pain but was given no room to agonize as he reacted to the light being reflected in something swung at him in rapid movements. The sharp object was now cutting his arms which he lifted to protect himself from the attack, cutting through his skin, flesh, veins and nerves. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight… they kept coming, leaving diagonal wounds on his large thick arms.
When the adrenaline kicked in, Bret waited for his chance to fight back just as soon as the incoming blade swayed one last time before he clenched his teeth and threw a swift punch towards his attacker who was caught by surprise when the incoming fist connected.
The stream was live, therefore the phone was still recording the sound of the struggle taking place while the shocked fans of Bret Blanche were powerless to do anything but listen. Grunts, punches, kicks, heavy stomping on the ground crushing old withered leaves and branches until…
"AGH! Wait! STOP!" Bret pleaded.
The chat was loaded with all sorts of messages, from people genuinely disturbed by the situation while others were adamant about the whole thing being staged.
oolongslayer1000: is someone from Gravesfield? call the police!
voidzeeker: guys, this isn't real, this is just like the time that he got 'robbed', remember?
memereviewer: i hope this isn't real…
jillssandwhich: it's not, this is so fake
The struggle seemed to be over by then, all they were able to hear were the screams of agony as whatever was stalking Bret this whole time kept diving their blade down on him further making him bleed profusely.
"Stoooop! Agh! Money, I can give you money!" Bret tried bargaining as his last resource and to his surprise… the stabbing subsided. "Yes… money! I got money in my wallet… and and… I… there's more… there's so much more I can gather for you…"
Bret was practically screaming which allowed everyone watching his stream to hear what he was saying but the moment he stopped shouting… they were met with an unnerving silence followed by Bret's voice replying to that unheard voice.
"What?! Then… what do you want?!"
Silence.
"I… cannot, I can't tell you that, she'll kill me… agh! AHHHH! STOP!"
The blade dug deeper before Bret screamed once more a desperate response.
"OK! Ok ok! I'll tell you! Ok?! I did it… I did it all!" Bret whimpered while groaning with pain. "You want a confession! Fine…" Followed by more whimpering. "I did it… we were just trying to have some fun, we never thought that was going to happen… I did it. And they covered it up for me… I owe them now, I owe them so much."
For a minute… no one was able to hear anything else but the soft crying of Bret in the pitch-black forest. But eventually… the whimpering, the screams, the groaning, the struggle all vanished and what was left was the deafening silence of Herlock Woods until a foot shattered the phone and the stream came to an end.
THE LOOKING GLASS.
Chapter 12: The First Killing.
That same night, Luz was confronted by the creature from the woods that has been making people go missing throughout centuries. The Unknown, The Face Snatcher - those are the names that she and her friends have given it. The question lingers in her mind about its true nature, that being something known to them like a Basilisk or a shapeshifting Witch… or perhaps something still unexplored by them.
But all Luz could do for the rest of the night was sit down on her couch and stare into the darkness in her backyard where that thing had been standing there just an hour ago. The place in the glass of her sliding door where it tapped with its elongated finger until it cracked a small fissure still present, now evidence of its existence and the threat it might pose.
'You, I want you…'
Those words spoken by her own voice, stolen by the Shape on those curtains, were echoing in her mind every so often. She knew now what it wanted… but what would she do with her once it'll get to her, she wondered?
But in the end, Luz fell asleep on that couch… eventually.
The sun woke her up an hour or so later. It was then when she closed the curtains just in time before a yawning Camila was heading into the kitchen as she found Luz awake.
Of course, Luz made up an excuse for being up so early but Camila brushed it off before asking her to help her make breakfast for everyone that morning to which she agreed to.
One by one, her friends started to wake up, first Vee who joined the two in helping make breakfast. Then was Willow who made her way outside to water the plants, next was Amity who was served an early cup of coffee by her attentive girlfriend. Finally, there was Gus and Hunter who joined them upstairs in the living room.
Luz wanted to say something… start venting about what she experienced. But Camila was still there and she dared not to, she didn't want to worry her for now. After all, other than Vee… she hasn't been exposed to the horrors that she faced in the Boiling Isles.
Amity was able to tell Luz was hesitant to share her something. She whispered to her several times if she'd like to head back to her bedroom so they could talk but Luz shook her head and promised to reveal what she was holding onto later.
Breakfast went down swiftly, with the exception of Luz, everybody acted normal and expressed themselves lively. When Camila changed into her scrubs, she headed to give a small hug and kiss to everyone - a proof of the affection she has for them.
"Me voy chicos! Cuidense! Don't eat too many snacks, I'm bringing something for dinner tonight!" Camila said happily before shutting the door, leaving Luz and her friends alone at home.
Amity turned to look at Luz, followed by Willow and Vee who also took notice of her behavior that morning. "So…"
"Wait…" Luz said with a large smile on her face.
The door opened once more, with Camila excusing herself as she walked and rushed into the kitchen. "Sorry, I forgot my phone! Los quiero, byeeee!"
The door closed once more as Luz was counting the seconds in a whisper while everyone awaited for the incoming explosion.
"THAT THING WAS HERE TONIGHT! ItsaidthatitwantedmeittooktheshapeofEdaandsaidithadbeen- huntingherforalongtimeandandand…!" Luz was practically shaking while she paced from side to side explaining what happened to her the night before.
"Whoa, whoa! Slow down!" Amity rushed up to her girlfriend to hold her by the shoulders until Luz launched herself to her chest and began to cry a little, a proof of how disturbed she was. "Hey, it's ok… you're safe now." The pink haired witch whispered to her girlfriend who's legs became a wobbly mess, forcing them both to their knees for a few short minutes while the rest of their worried friends gathered around them until Luz calmed down…
For half an hour, Luz explained what happened the night before - not breaking down for the time being. Amity and Willow were visibly upset at the fact they were unable to do anything that night.
Luz was sitting on the couch facing that same sliding door where that monster was standing hours ago. Hunter and Gus examined the crack on the wall with Vee standing close by. Amity and Willow were sitting with Luz on the couch, still trying their best to make her human friend feel comfortable as she kept narrating every detail she could remember.
"Only two people have been able to escape from It. Flor and Eda. For the way they spoke about Eda, it seems that she was able to fight back - at least on her own Owl form. Flor on the other hand, I believe that she was lucky… maybe?" Luz suggested.
"Yeah, Eda was a strong witch on her own. I doubt she was an easy target. But…" Willow asked with curiosity. "Did she never tell you about this? About that thing?"
"No, Eda didn't take most things seriously. But I did find it odd that she would randomly go to my Realm without a hint of consistency. But I suppose that Eda was trying not to be so predictable about her visits to my Realm." Luz said with a soft sigh.
"Makes sense." Willow nodded. "So, what do we do now? Like… are we fighting this thing?"
"Of course we are." Amity exclaimed. "Luz is in danger now."
"Yeah, I agree, but we need a plan. That's what I was trying to say." Willow said nervously.
Luz got a little distracted while Willow and Amity were discussing a possible plan with one another. Her eyes were fixed upon Vee, the only one in the room that had any semblance of knowledge about shapeshifting, but… seeing how timid she was most of the time, she thought she may not be someone to recur to on hunting this creature… then the mere thought of word 'hunting' made Luz to turn towards Hunter who was talking with Gus at that moment.
"Amity…" Luz blurted out without warning which caught her girlfriend by surprise.
"Uh… yeah? Is something wrong?" Amity asked while leaning towards her with a worried expression on her face.
"Would you… keep an eye on Vee for a bit? While I go talk to Hunter?" Luz asked as her eyes locked with Amity's.
"O-ok… sure." Amity said while biting onto her lower lip as Luz brought herself up to her feet.
"If she heads towards us… stop her. I don't think she wants to hear what I'm about to ask Hunter." Luz said with a serious look on her face which made both Willow and Amity a bit worried but they both nodded at her in the end.
They watched Luz walk up to Hunter who was still talking to Gus while Vee was standing next to them tapping at the small crack on the wall in human form, not taking any chances of being spotted by a neighbor with the curtains wide open.
"Hey, Hunter." Luz said to get the guy's attention. "Can we talk? In private?"
Gus and Hunter looked at her with confusion before Hunter nodded in agreement. "Uh, of course. Yeah…"
Luz gestured to him to follow her as they walked away from the distracted Vee, or so they thought, because Vee did narrowed her eyes at them for a brief moment.
"Hunter…" Luz whispered. "How did you catch the Basilisks that were in Belos laboratory?"
"Whoa…!" Hunter exclaimed which immediately got Luz to start shushing him so that he lowered his voice. "I… didn't do it." Hunter whispered now.
"What?" Luz asked in confusion. "But you said that you hunted a lot of beasts for Belos?"
"Yeah… but I never faced a shapeshifter in my life. At least… not me, not the Hunter you know." Hunter seemed a bit uncomfortable speaking of his life before leaving Belos. "I remember her, I mean Vee. She has been there in the lab ever since I gained consciousness." Hunter rolled his eyes with a bit of anger, trying not to say the words 'since I was created.' But looked back at Luz with worried eyes once more.
"I'm sorry." Luz said as she leaned to place a hand on Hunter's shoulder.
"I think she never saw my face. But… ever since we've been living together I've been wondering if… the Hunter before me was the one that put her in that cage… it tortures me to think that… I hurt her in the past… that the Hunter before me hurt her…" Hunter said, trying to fight the tears about to escape his eyes while shaking his head from side to side briefly.
"I get it." Luz said before she and Hunter turned to their side as Amity's voice raised suddenly as she tried to stop Vee from going into the hallway.
"Vee! Vee! Hey, would you come to sit with Willow and I at the couch for a moment? We'd like to show you something…" Amity said as she tried to prevent Vee from taking a step further by getting in her way, all while Willow backed her up standing behind the Basilisk.
"Yeah… yeah… it's a really cute video." Willow said before the serious-looking Vee interrupted her.
"I know what you're talking about." Vee said, going back to her Basilisk form. "I know I'm not the bravest one in the room, but I'm stronger than you think." She said, not with anger towards Luz, but with a sad look on her face.
"No one is saying you're not strong, Vee. I… thought… you wouldn't like to hear about…" Luz was interrupted again by her younger sister.
"About what Belos did to me." Vee finished what Luz was going to say, making the older human nod in response while rubbing on her arm nervously, at the same time… Hunter was leaning against the wall with stressful eyes staring into the ground as he gathered the courage to say something.
"Vee… I'm so sorry. I never got the chance to apologize. You know who I am now… I worked for Belos. I was the one… with the golden mask." Hunter forced himself to look at Vee in the eyes so that his apology felt more sincere. "I knew what he was doing and I did nothing to stop him. If there could be something I could rectify from my past, it would be that. I honestly have no idea if the man that took you from your family was me… because I have no memory of it. You know the story, right? There was a Hunter before me and… and…"
"You didn't do it." Vee cut Hunter off which caught everyone in the room by surprise. "If you're blaming yourself for it… stop." Vee smiled. "You didn't do it. You may think I was probably too young to remember, but you never forget something like that…"
Amity and Willow walked up to stand near the young Basilisk to comfort her but Vee continued, showing a somewhat sad smile while she spoke.
"I never knew of many other Basilisks in my life up to that point. All I had were my parents. But they were adults… and all Belos wanted was those he could control. I don't know what happened to them afterwards. After years inside that cage… I gave up on the hope that they would come back for me. Because… they were probably gone."
"I'm so sorry Vee." Luz said, unable to hold back tears as she rushed up to hug the Basilisk she was proud of calling her little sister now.
Vee hugged Luz back but didn't break into tears like she did, a testament of how strong the Basilisk truly was. "None of you have to be sorry for it."
"Still, you didn't deserve that." Amity said while still close to her alongside Willow.
"It's fine, it's in the past now." Vee said as she gently held Luz by her shoulders to reassure her with a smile before looking over to Hunter with that same confident look on her face. "You didn't do it."
Hunter was unable to hold his tears either as he wiped them off his face with the sleeve off his left arm. "T-thank you, Vee." Relieved, he now could let go of that guilt.
"Luz." Vee gave her older sister a serious look once more. "I don't know if this will help you or not. But I believe that this thing… is not looking to eat you like we discussed before."
"What?" Luz wiped her own tears with her wrists before looking back at Vee.
"Unlike witches, you don't produce your own magic. And if it had wanted to eat you, they had a chance of doing so during yesterday's morning when you mentioned you went to the shack. You were all alone and it could have taken you right there but didn't." Vee said with conviction, a side that she doesn't show that often.
"What if it's trying to replace Luz?" Gus suggested as he joined the conversation.
"Don't say you got that idea from your movie…" Willow said with a sigh.
"No no, think about it. It's clearly preparing for something. If it was able to mimic both Eda's and Luz's voices so easily… why hasn't it tried to shapeshift like them? Why haven't we seen a Luz out there yet?"
"Maybe it can't." Hunter suggested.
"Then how come Flor and Thomas Morton saw that thing pose as people they knew?" Amity asked.
"I'm not saying it can't shapeshift, I meant that maybe it can't shapeshift in a traditional sense like Vee does." Hunter replied.
"It's not a Basilisk, I'm sure of it." Vee said. "If it was, it would have tried to get to Amity, Gus and Willow or all of your palismans. We can detect magic, it wouldn't have been able to resist it. Yet, it wants Luz."
"What if your theory of the Skinwalker you mentioned before is right?" Gus asked Luz with a grim look on his face, making Luz a bit anxious.
"It could be a witch…?"
"Maybe not a witch, like us." Amity said with a worried look on her face. "But maybe it's something else that needs a different sort of magic to wield. And if it's true… that… it's trying to…"
"Wear my skin?" Luz asked, horrified.
"We will stop it. I'll help you, I won't let it near you, I promise." Amity said as she leaned to hold Luz's hand tightly as everyone else gathered around her for a group hug.
The moment was soon disturbed by the sound of a message in Vee's phone which was resting on the kitchen table not far away from the entrance to the hall. Vee briefly looked away for a short moment but her attention was brought back to Luz who seemed more relaxed now knowing that her friends were selflessly supporting her.
"Thank you guys, I really mean it." Luz said with a smile on her face as her friends took a step back from her to give her some space.
"You don't have to thank us, we're your friends." Willow said with a smile.
"I know, it's just that… I wish I could still do magic. Then I wouldn't feel this useless and defenseless." Luz said with a sad look on her face.
"Hey." Amity said as she leaned forward to hold Luz's face with her hands. "You're not the only one that can't do magic right now. Other than Oracle Magic, I wouldn't be able to hold my own weight in this fight. But… I'll protect you, somehow."
Luz blushed and grinned. "Well… I hope I can do the same for you."
Again, the second time that Vee's phone vibrates on the table in the kitchen, yet another message popped up on the screen which they ignored once more.
"Ok, we need to talk about a plan." Hunter said. "This time we cannot leave Luz alone, that thing is on the hunt for her."
"Well, I have no idea how long it has been stalking the house, but maybe I can make use of my Illusion Magic to set up a decoy during the night." Gus said.
"We need to talk with Mrs Noceda about this, though." Willow proposed.
"Wait, no!" Luz panicked. "We can't tell her yet… it's… too soon."
"Luz, I agree with Willow." Hunter said while rubbing the back of his head. "Your life is at risk, and so is hers and… well ours too."
This time, there was no message - but the sound of Vee's ringtone echoing through the house, causing Vee to finally go up to check her phone while the gang was still discussing what to do next.
"No, I get it, but… I have no idea of how she will react to something like this." Luz said while fidgeting with her fingers.
"I believe she'll want to protect you too." Amity said as she rested her hand on Luz's back to reassure her. "It's only fair that she's aware of what's happening. Otherwise… if that thing just appears without warning… who knows how she'll take it…"
"Yeah… but…" Luz bit on her lower lip while staring at the ground. "Can we just wait a bit longer?"
Vee picked up her phone and on the screen were displayed a couple of unread messages sent by Masha alongside the missed call from them.
Masha: hey, ru still home? is Luz with u?
Masha: watch the news!
Calling them back, Vee heard a rather relieved-sounding Masha on the other side.
"Oh, thank goodness. I thought you were in the woods again. You got to watch the news!"
"Huh? Why?" Vee asked in confusion.
"Something gruesome happened. I can't stress enough how dangerous it is to go to the woods on your own. Please… don't go to Herlock Woods for a while."
"Masha, what happened?"
"Someone died…"
"What…?" Vee's eyes widened in shock before she looked at Luz and their friends, still oblivious to the situation.
"My bus is here… I gotta go to work. But I'll be monitoring the internet all day to catch you up on the details. So far, the police have made a small statement about the body they found in the woods was attacked by a large animal, possibly a bear…"
"Ok. I'll tell Luz."
"Just be careful, alright? Gotta go, see ya soon."
Immediately after finishing that sentence, Masha hung up and Vee nervously made her way to join the group once more as Luz was still asking her friends to not let Camila know about the Face Snatcher.
"Luz…" Vee caught the attention of her human sister. "Masha says we should watch the news."
"Huh?" Luz was caught by surprise. "Why? What happened?"
"She says…" Vee gulped. "That someone was found dead in the woods."
The group was in disbelief for a brief second but then they exchanged looks, wondering if this had anything to do with The Face Snatcher creature.
Soon, they all gathered back in the living room, as they watched the news on Utube's feed. By now, the body was identified and the entire town was now aware that the person that was found dead was none other than one of the most famous people in town; Bret Blanche. The same man that Luz associated with Nevareth Bladestrife.
The picture of the famous Utuber was all over the news, while the news anchor reported on the available details of the gruesome attack.
"The famous Utuber, Manager to the Green House Foundation Shelter and former runner for the DA office was found dead today in the outskirts to Herlock Forest. This morning during a jogging routine, a pair of unlucky people found the body lying on the ground with multiple wounds on it. When they called an ambulance and the police shortly after, Bret Blanche was declared dead on the spot. The police didn't allow anyone near the body and encouraged everyone to get out of the woods for the time being, believing that this is the act of a large animal in the area. However… the internet disagrees with that sentiment, since last night, Bret himself was streaming late at night before the attack. What you're about to see might be disturbing for some viewers…"
Shortly after, they played a few clips from the stream LIVE which they edited in order to highlight a few instances during the time that Bret was oblivious to the shape that his chat was warning him about. Luz and her friends saw the dark figure behind him, a tall humanoid shape that was carefully sneaking behind him at several moments in the stream. It even circled around him once that Bret was warned about its presence.
The video was playing those moments a few more times, in slow motion… even edited it enough so that there was more contrast in order to see a pale face hidden in that large black shape. Its features… unrecognizable.
What followed was the attack itself. In shock and uncomfortable, some of them were unable to look at the screen as they heard the screams of Bret while he struggled with the black shape until he was pinned down and subsequently killed away from the camera.
"More as it happens…" The news anchor said before moving onto a different note. "In other news. We ask our viewers to be on the lookout for a missing person by the name of Koume Takamura. Last seen last night working her shift in Michiru…"
Before everyone had the chance to move their eyes away from the TV, they were surprised to see another familiar face on the screen… the missing person that the news anchor was talking about had a picture, and it was none other than the waitress from last night. The one with the purple hair and unfriendly face that they all jokingly identified as a human-like Kikimura.
Luz's eyes widened while her arms began to shake a little when the memories from last night began to flash before her eyes realizing something important. "It was her…"
"It's the girl from the restaurant." Amity nodded before being startled by Luz raising her voice.
"IT WAS HER! That thing was her!" Luz exclaimed.
"No way…" Hunter said in disbelief.
"Guys… she might be right." Willow said as she explained. "Remember how off she behaved during the second half of the evening?"
"How was it able to take her in a crowded place during the ten minutes that she was away from our sight?" Gus asked with a nervous tone in his voice.
"It killed her…" Luz whispered as tears were running down her cheeks. "To get to me…" And shortly after… she fainted on the ground making everyone in the room to shout her name:
"LUZ!"
End of the chapter.
