A/N: My apologies! Work has been absolutely nutty. Hopefully back on track now. ;)

Chapter 16

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Elliot asked as they watched the footage of the shooting with TARU tech James McNeese. Drew Hurley never saw it coming.

"The weirdest, most screwed up, Strangers on a Train?" Olivia gave him a look.

"Clearly one of them was willing to go further than the other," James spoke up.

"Agreed, but I think Dylan gets more out of the assault portion than the killing portion," the Captain said.

"Why kill Drew? I mean sure the guy was trying to warn Akiko in his weird way, but Akiko doesn't know Dylan. She would just think it's some random guy, especially since her attacker hit her from behind," Elliot frowned. Something still wasn't adding up.

"We know Drew was killed by someone shorter – Caitlin fits that bill. We know Akiko was assaulted with an object – Caitlin could have done that. Regrettably, the AI thing that Jet was working with couldn't clear it up as much as we hoped. Apparently, the cruddy footage and the combination of the angle, it did the best it could but getting an image that we could use in court and say with one hundred percent certainty it was Dylan…" he shook his head.

"Are you suggesting that Caitlin did all of this and is trying to set up Dylan?" Olivia wondered.

"Why would Lance Kirkpatrick agree to hack into Akiko's Facebook page?" Elliot gave her a look.

"Well, we haven't talked to him. For all we know Caitlin or Dylan promised him five bucks to do it. We need to find out how she knows Dylan or Lance, but Melinda first. She promised me some information," Olivia said.

"Thanks James," Elliot gave him a smile.

"No problem," the tech smiled back and the two officers left him to his other work on other cases. Olivia didn't say anything until they had both climbed back into her SUV.

"What's on your mind?" He asked.

"Maybe you're right about Caitlin," she paused and Elliot waited for her to continue.

"Drew might have known too much but all the threats to Detective Klass have not come to fruition. Not even another attempt. Her apartment has not been visited by anyone. I had to pull the officer off the door but Jet had secret cameras installed and she's seen nothing. Between that and the changed locks, all has been quiet. Do you see Dylan as the quiet type?" She wondered.

"Klass said that he had a lot of rage. Can't imagine that got better while he was in prison," Elliot said.

"Exactly," Olivia said as she fired up the Explorer. They needed to get to the Medical Examiner's office. Elliot watched her as she moved the vehicle into traffic.

"He could be biding his time. Waiting for the crime scene to clear. She's been with Betty and a partner so he isn't going to try to go after her if he thinks she has help," he figured.

"Right. Maybe we need to set a trap," Olivia told him.

"Try and lure him to the apartment?" Elliot asked.

"We know that Akiko's Facebook was hacked so maybe we use it to our advantage," his former partner said. She poked the phone button on her steering wheel and told the SUV to call Bruno. The man hadn't been napping for long but it would have to do since Fin and Klass were dealing with Lance Kirkpatrick.

"Get Akiko's friends and bring them into the precinct. I have an idea, but we're going to need their help," she told her detective.

"On it," Bruno promised.

"We're at the ME's office. We'll be back soon," Olivia said.

"See you then," Bruno told her.
