A/N:
Essiter1987 - If there's one thing I love about the DC universe, other than the likes of Batman, Superman, wonder Woman and both Beast boy and Raven, to name just a few, it's that they incorporate EVERY mythology into their universe.
Marvel doesn't quite do it justice.
Also, I know I haven't read all that many comics but when did Arthur beat Clark in a fair fight?! That sounds awesome! Having seen his fight against Namor on Death Battle I know just how awesome he can be, and also pathetic, if you ever saw the Aquaman vs Spongebob fight.
Personally, I still get a kick out of Batman being such a ninja that he's snuck up on Superman multiple times.
I think we all get a kick out of Batman sneaking up on Supes. However, there's this web series called Batman Wayne Family Adventures that's being dubbed on YouTube. One of the comics shows Cass actually sneaking up on Bats. That'll put a smile on your face.

Yeah, I am WAY too broke to be commissioning a comic book artist. Would KILL to be able to hire anyone, but too damn broke. I'm already commissioning someone else to bring another one of my stories to life, and I can only pay her once a month. Can't afford another, I'm afraid.
The people of Gotham were screaming, police shooting in vain at the biggest boar they had ever seen. It was a powerful creature that sent even eighteen-wheeler trucks flying, smashing through buildings like they were made out of cardboard, and tanking bullets like they were made of rubber.
This great pig was the Erymanthian Boar, the hog crashing through Gotham in a frenzy.
The great boar's ear then twitched as it heard the roar of an engine, looking to see the Batmobile at the end of the street. When the vehicle's engine reeved, the boar pawed the ground before snorting.
'Batman, what are you doing,' Wonder Woman yelled through the communicator.
"Getting its attention. It thinks I'm challenging it. Perfect."
'Batman, the Erymanthian Boar is a Sacred Beast of Artemis! To slay it is to perform blasphemy against her!'
"Who said anything about slaying it?"
'It's still too dangerous! The strength that beast has far outclasses even your Batmobile! Just wait until I arrive! I've already taken care of harpies that were attacking Gotham Heights and the Hydra using Slaughter Swamp as a nest! Just wait!'
"No time." Batman then reeved the Batmobile to its limit, the car basically roaring. The Erymanthian Boar roared back, accepting the challenge.
The Batmobile and the Boar charged at each other, squealing wheels mixing with the sound of pounding hooves.
Then, as soon as the two were about to collide, the Batmobile transformed, a battering ram with a ramp-like shape appearing up front. The boar slammed into the ramp, the momentum and the ramp sending the Boar rolling across the Batmobile before flying into the air.
Batman quickly drifted around and activated the vehicle's guns, shooting at the Boar.
When the Erymanthian Boar landed, it was completely covered in a sticky substance that looked like glue, the beast struggling and roaring as it tried to escape.
Batman got out of his car and walked toward the roaring pig. It only stopped when it noticed Batman, letting out a few grunts before it began to roar in rage again, trying to escape its sticky prison.
Wonder Woman then walked up next to Batman, staring at the beast. "You were able to defeat it without taking its life. You barely even harmed it."
"I don't kill, Wonder Woman. Not even animals. Especially not possessed ones."
"You can tell, can't you," Wonder Woman said as she looked sadly at the boar.
"The eyes are too dilated. The froth coming from its mouth is far too unhealthy for any creature, mythical or not. What's more, it's struggling far too much. As if it has too much energy. These signs are comparable to rabies, but that can't be it."
Batman analyzed the boar before looking right into its mouth, noticing something. Batman walked back to his car and took something, heading back and handing it over to Wonder Woman. "Put these on."
"Hm? Medical gloves," Wonder Woman asked as she put on the latex gloves.
"I need you to open the boar's mouth."
Wonder Woman nodded, putting her faith in Batman. She then pulled open the boar's mouth, the beast struggling, but it was no match for Wonder Woman's goddess strength.
Batman then took out a pair of pliers from his utility belt and carefully got into the Boar's mouth. He reached in and grasped something with the tools.
The Boar then squealed, thrashing around violently, trying to escape Wonder Woman.
"Batman," Wonder Woman yelled out in concern.
"Keep it steady!"
Batman then yanked out whatever was in the Boar's mouth, the beast letting out a squeal of pain before it just went limp, panting heavily.
Wonder Woman released the boar, placing its head gently on the ground. She then took off the gloves before looking at Batman, the hero holding...
"By the gods. That tooth... It's cursed."
Batman stared at the pitch-black fang, darkness still floating off of it. "I'll need to analyze it," Batman said as he took out a sample vial from his utility belt, putting the fang in it.
The Boar then squealed, getting the heroes' attention, as it began to thrash again.
"It's afraid," Batman said.
"It was taken out of its home, placed in an odd environment, and used as a tool. Now, it's just a prisoner. Why shouldn't it be afraid," Wonder Woman asked sadly before kneeling toward the massive boar and gently placing her hand on the beast's head, slightly calming it down.
"Shh. Shh," she went gently. She then began to sing. The song was beautiful, sweet, kind, and soothing. It was so soothing that it was calming the Boar down. Then, the Boar fell asleep, its breathing now calm and rhythmic.
"That song you sang. It was the Orphic Hymn to Artemis," Batman said.
"It was. You're quite knowledgeable, Batman," she said with a smile. She then looked back at the sleeping boar. "It only makes sense for Artemis's sacred beast to fall asleep to her hymn." Her smile went away. "This... this isn't how the Sacred Beasts are meant to be treated. This Boar wasn't a task to complete or a creature to hunt. It was used as a weapon."
"Without my permission."
Batman and Wonder Woman looked toward the voice to see a beautiful yet wild-looking woman, a bow and quiver full of arrows strapped to her back, looking angry.
Wonder Woman quickly fell to one knee, Batman not missing a beat as he followed his partner's lead.
"Hail be to Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt," Wonder Woman and Batman said in perfect unison, showing respect to Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt and Moon, Daughter of Zeus, and rightful owner of the Erymanthian Boar.
Artemis walked up to her Boar, kindly stroking the sleeping beast's head. It grunted a bit before going back to calmly snoring away. "You did well, Diana."
"I am unable to fully take credit, Lady Artemis."
"Drop the formalities, sister. We are both daughters of Zeus, are we not? Not that it's anything to brag about, of course."
"You are still a true goddess, sister. I am merely a demi-goddess."
"You are still my sister. As such, I ask you, raise and look upon me."
Diana did as her sister ordered, looking at her in the eyes.
Artemis smiled. "No sign of fear. I can see why Athena wanted you to be the Goddess of Truth and Justice. Still, I'm not here for a social visit." She looked at her Boar, her eyes narrowing in anger. "I'm here to see why one of MY sacred animals is in the world of Man," she all but spat out. She then glared at Batman. "Any explanations, mortal?"
Batman then stood up.
"WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO STAND," Artemis's voice all but echoed, the moon shining brightly like a beacon.
"Sister, please. Batman was the one who captured the Erymanthian Boar without harming it," Wonder Woman said.
"Was he? Not bad... for a mere man."
"Lady Artemis, there are many, both on this planet and beyond the stars, who would say that Batman is anything BUT mere. In fact, there is one whom I fear is after him. The one who took your boar, to begin with."
"Is that so? Who is this blasphemer?"
"We believe it to be Nyx," Batman said.
Artemis glared at Batman and threw one of her arrows at him, not even bothering to use her precious bow. "Now your place," she said.
"NO," Wonder Woman cried as the arrow flew toward Batman.
He didn't even try to avoid it.
Instead, the arrow was stopped... by pure darkness. Everyone but Batman was shocked.
"I thought as much," Batman said as he glared at the arrow, watching it fall to the ground. "This proves it," Batman said as he took out the fang, analyzing it. "Nyx is after me."
"She's back?" Batman and Wonder Woman looked at Artemis, seeing the fear in her eyes. "S-She's back? Why? Why is she back?! She said there was nothing of interest to her in the Mortal Realm! She's not interested in Olympus or this world, so why is she back?! What is the meaning of this?!"
"Sister, calm yourself."
"CALM MYSELF?! DIANA, DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU THE POWER NYX WIELDS?! NO ONE CAN BEAT HER ALONE! NO ONE! NOT EVEN ZEUS! SHE'S... SHE'S... she's. . . She's terrifying," Artemis admitted. She then looked up at the full moon. "I am the Goddess of the Moon, but what completely surrounds that beautiful light in the sky? Why can envelop it? What truly reigns over it?"
Wonder Woman looked up at the sky with her sister. "The night."
"Her power completely outclasses my own. My own brother is afraid of her. After all, the only one capable of defeating a primordial is another primordial."
"Which brings up another question." The two goddesses looked at Batman. "Why is Nyx going through all this trouble?" Artemis glared at Batman. "Explain yourself, mortal."
"Nyx is more than powerful enough to conquer Olympus on her own, yet she's making meticulous plans. Sending out monsters, attempting to free Typhon, trying to recruit me. It's almost as if she's preparing for a war."
Wonder Woman's eyes widened. "But a war against who?"
Artemis looked down. She then sighed. "This isn't for me to resolve. I'm only here for my Boar. However, I'll bring this news to the rest of the Pantheon. Athena's wisdom is needed now more than ever. Diana, can I trust you to protect the world of man in our absence?"
"It has been our duty thus far," Diana said as she pounded her chest.
Artemis nodded before looking at Batman, seeing how fearless his eyes were. "You... have good eyes... for a man, anyway."
"Mm."
". . . Don't you dare let Nyx win."
"I don't plan to."
Artemis turned around and placed her hand on her Boar. "Oh, and I'm leaving behind some of my huntresses. Since you're fighting Nyx, you don't need to worry about petty mortal crimes."
"Tell them not to kill anyone. We may be judges, but we're not executioners."
"Heh, I don't plan on giving my uncle any new servants. I'm not that kind. . . Nike be with... the both of you." Artemis and her Boar then vanished with a flash of moonlight.
"I suppose it's good to have the gods on our side," Batman said.
"Better than having them against us," Wonder Woman said with a smile.
"Mm."
Batman was on top of a building, looking down at Gotham. It had barely been half an hour since he and Wonder Woman spoke to Artemis. Yet, in that time, there hadn't been so much as an attempted robbery or an attack from a monster.
Then, his com went off.
"Report, Red Hood."
'Not this time, old man. I've got a question.'
"Ask it."
'Alright. What the hell is going on?!'
"Elaborate."
'It's bad enough we have literal freakin' monsters running around Gotham now! Did you know I had to stop an entire platoon of sword-swinging skeletons from attacking a freakin' homeless shelter?! Oh, and let's not forget the two-headed fire-breathing dog Red Robin took down! But that's nothing to when I had to help Killer Croc deal with A FUCKING HYDRA IN HIS SEWERS!'
"Is there a point to this?"
'Why yes. WHY ARE THERE FUCK GIRL SCOUTS RUNNING AROUND WITH BOWS AND ARROWS IN OUR CITY!?'
"Girl scouts?"
'They were young. Looked around fifteen. I thought they were Amazons at first until I got a glimpse of them in the moonlight. Took down a mugger. Nearly killed the prick, but they still got the job done. I called Artemis to ask if her Bana-Mighdall Amazons were in town again, but she sounded just as confused.'
"The Huntresses of Artemis."
'No, I already said she had nothing to-'
"Not YOUR Artemis, Red Hood."
'. . . Are you saying they work for THAT Artemis? The freakin' Greek Goddess?'
"I am."
'. . . Alright, we need to have a freakin' meeting about this. Greek Monsters is just another Friday night for us. Amazons coming into our city happens every other Thursday. But actual gods from the Pantheon? We're having GODS come to Gotham?! Seriously, at this point, we might as well help Wonder Woman throw a family reunion party at the manor!'
'A tempting proposition, Red Hood.'
'Seriously, Wonder Woman? How long have you been on the line?'
'Long enough to agree that we do need to have a meeting. Things are becoming far too complicated. I propose we speak with our allies at noon. Do you agree, Oracle?'
'Sounds like a plan to me. None of us have work tomorrow anyway. Convenient, right?'
'Why not just right now,' Red Hood asked.
'Even we need rest, Hood,' Oracle said.
'Yeah, yeah,' he groaned.
"Then it's settled. We're all to meet at the manor at noon sharp."
'Agreed,' Wonder Woman and Oracle said in unison.
'Sure,' Hood said.
"I'll meet you at the manor, Wonder Woman."
'I'll see you there, Batman.'
'You really think you have enough time for funny business AND rest,' Red Hood asked.
"What are you talking about," Batman asked.
'. . . Are you serious?'
'It's a valid question,' Wonder Woman said.
'Wait... Oracle, am I the only one who sees it?'
'No. I see it, too.'
'Oh, good.'
'What are you two on about,' Wonder Woman asked.
'Hopefully, you'll find out sooner rather than later. Red Hood/Oracle out,' they said in near-perfect unison before cutting off.
'What was that about,' Wonder Woman asked.
"I don't know, but I'm on my way to the manor."
"I'm already here," Wonder Woman said as she landed her jet in the vast backyard of the manor.
'Then I'll see you in the morning. Batman out.' The call then ended.
Wonder Woman jumped out of her jet, looking up to see Alfred waiting. "Welcome back, Lady Prince. I have taken the liberty of preparing a bath for you and left a nightgown in your room."
Wonder Woman smiled. "You treat me almost too well, Alfred."
"Nonsense. You are a guest of Wayne Manor. This is the least I could do for one who might be more one day."
Wonder Woman raised her eyebrow with a confused look. "More one day?"
"Oh, dear. Forget my words, milady," Alfred said with a bow before walking away, leaving a confused Wonder Woman before she shrugged her shoulders.
Later, after the incredibly relaxing bath she didn't know she needed, Diana was in her room, wearing a robe while drying her hair, about to put on her nightgown to get at least an hour's worth of sleep. She honestly felt a bit spoiled getting that much.
"My word, that was painful."
Diana's eyes shot open with a glare as she got into her fighting stance, only for her eyes to widen in shock.
"So many obvious hints yet both are so blind. Makes me want to weep," an absolutely gorgeous woman sitting on Diana's bed said, her long and sexy legs crossed over each other.
Diana immediately bowed to one knee. "Glory be to Aphrodite, Goddess of Love."
"How can I serve thee, Goddess of Love and Beauty," Diana asked.
"And Fertility."
"Excuse me, my lady," Diana asked without looking up.
"Do not forget. I am also the Goddess of Fertility. I make it possible for mortal women to conceive. Without me, Artemis and Eileithyia would be without work." Aphrodite giggled. "Isn't it funny how Artemis is prayed to for safe childbirth, despite being a virgin? She never once experienced the touch of a man, let alone carried a child or brought one into the world. Such a silly joke for her to be prayed to for safe childbirth," Aphrodite said as she sprawled all over Diana's bed. "Ooh, this is divine! The mortals sure are fine craftsmen. I could get used to this."
"Forgive me, my lady," Diana said, still bowing. "But couldn't you have Hephaestus craft just as grand a bed for yourself?"
"Tch, I wouldn't ask that fool to make me a new sandal. Now, enough of this foolishness."
"Excuse me," Diana asked, still not raising her head.
"Drop the formalities, child. Look upon me." Diana looked up at the beautiful goddess. She had eyes as blue as the sea she came out of, with skin as tanned as an untouched beach, and the face befitting of the Goddess of Beauty. "There. Now isn't that better?"
"Um, I suppose." Diana stood up. "No disrespect meant, Lady Aphrodite, but what are you doing here?"
"To reprimand you, Diana."
"What?!"
"Why are you hesitating, girl?"
"H-Hesitating?"
Aphrodite sighed. "You did hear what the Cyclops said, didn't you? About how 'With Father and Son at her side, Mother will be Invincible. Mother will be Unstoppable. Mother will be Unbeatable. Mother. Will. Win.' Do you not remember this?"
"What does this have to do with me?"
"Oh, dear Hades," Aphrodite said as she rubbed her forehead. "Alright. Direct approach: you're in love with the mortal. Consummate with him so we can have the Champion we need against Nyx."
"WHAT!? LADY APHRODITE, ARE YOU MAD?!" Aphrodite raised an eyebrow. "BRUCE AND I HAVE NO SUCH RELATIONSHIP! We're partners. Co-workers. Simple as that," Diana said with a blush and her arms crossed as she looked away from the goddess.
Aphrodite groaned. "Truly? THIS situation again? By Zeus's beard. Am I going to have to call on my son for assistance?"
Diana's eyes widened as she looked at Aphrodite. "My lady, please, I beg of you not to place a spell on Bruce. He doesn't deserve to be a slave to love."
Aphrodite stared at Diana before she sighed. "Fine. I've been chewed out too many times for me to care to count on how my Divine Intervention has unintended side-effects."
"Side-effects? You caused the Trojan War."
"EVERYONE BRINGS UP THAT DAMNED WAR," Aphrodite said as she swung her arms. She then sighed as she looked at Diana with a serious expression. "This isn't about me, Diana. It's about the mortal known as Bruce Wayne." Diana got a serious expression. "You need to claim him and create the newest Hero of Olympus."
Diana looked away. "Bruce and I don't have a relationship like that."
Aphrodite sighed. "You Amazons. I swear. . . Fine. I won't force it."
Diana sighed in relief. "Thank you, Aphro-"
"It doesn't have to be you anyway."
Diana looked at Aphrodite in surprise.
"The prophecy says The Mother Will Win. The mortal just needs to impregnate someone and whatever side the child is on will win. By that logic, I could be The Mother. Besides, I wouldn't mind having this temple become mine. Get away from Olympus and enjoy the world of mortals every once in a while. Also, for the child of the Goddess of Love to be the Hero that defeats Nyx? What a legend that would become," Aphrodite said with a smile. "Maybe I will claim Wayne for my own. He wouldn't be the first mortal I've shared a bed within the past cen-"
"NO!"
Aphrodite glanced at a wide-eyed Diana and smirked. "That was an interesting reaction, Daughter of Hippolyta."
"I... I just don't think we need to force ourselves on Bruce. If his child is to be the hero that defeats Nyx, it should be made through natural and blessed love. Not just on his part, but also on his partner's."
"Then why do you hesitate," Aphrodite asked with a raised eyebrow. Diana looked down, making Aphrodite sigh. "Amazons. You relinquished love, deny yourselves the touch of man, and now when you need that knowledge most, it fails you. And yet you wonder why I don't care for your race as much."
Diana wanted to say something, but no words came to her.
"Fine."
"What?"
"I must admit, your reason, though forced, is sound. In fact, if you succeed, and I do mean YOU, Diana, I will personally bless the child. Boy or girl, it will have unparalleled beauty, blessed by the love of existence itself. Only creatures of the purest of evil will be able to harm it, while all others will love it."
"Y-You'd make my child invulnerable?"
"NEARLY invulnerable. Creatures of the purest and darkest of hatred and evil will still be able to harm it, but the child will surely use that to its advantage."
Diana's eyes widened. "My child would never be able to be fooled by evil's temptations."
"Indeed. Through love, your child will know the truth. Through love shall they find evil. Through love will they be able to protect. Only the darkest and most evil of hearts will hate your child, while all others with even a glimmer of love in their souls will bask in your child's glory. Your child's beauty will shine even on the darkest of nights, and shine even brighter than the sun of Helios! Yes, my dear. Your child will truly be blessed."
"Aphrodite." Diana kneeled. "I do not deserve such a gracious and benevolent gift, my lady."
Aphrodite's smile went away. "But know this: this blessing will only be given to a child brought into this world through you. Should the mortal sow his seed in another, I shall curse the child instead. All that is beautiful will turn from the child, while all that is evil will flock to it. The creatures of the night will guard it, while the creatures of the day will hiss at it. Love will never find that child, but hatred will follow it until the end of days."
Diana looked up in shock. "Would that... would that include-"
"If Bruce Wayne conceives with an innocent? Indeed. Should so much as a harlot give birth to his child, who has nothing to do with this tale, I shall still curse the child." Aphrodite looked toward Gotham. "There are many women in that city alone who love Bruce Wayne: Selena Kyle, Silver St. Cloud, Vicki Vale; if any of them were to bear his child, I would curse it."
"Lady Aphrodite, that is-"
"Your trial," Aphrodite said without a hint of hesitation. "This is no mere child anymore, Diana. It's a Child of Prophecy destined to do battle with Nyx herself. Do you honestly believe a mortal child could possibly hope to stand a chance against a Primordial Goddess?" Diana looked down. "And do not forget." Diana looked at the goddess. "Nyx is no fool. She doesn't rely solely on pure strength and power. If she wanted to, she could have swiped your mortal away at any time, correct?"
Diana's eyes widened in realization. Nothing was stopping Nyx from just taking Bruce at this very moment. She already showed she could wisp him away when her magic stopped Artemis's arrow from reaching him. "She's planning something," Wonder Woman realized.
"She's biding her time for a reason. Maybe she wants to seduce the mortal herself, or maybe she's preparing one of her acolytes as a suitable mate. In the end, it matters not. As long as you give birth to a child before Nyx's faction, we will win."
"We?"
"Do not forget, Diana. This child bears the fate of all Olympus on their shoulders. Should Nyx win, we shall lose."
Diana stared at Aphrodite before looking down. "Why? Why is such a daunting fate placed on Bruce's shoulders? He is just a man."
"You speak as if you are not involved."
"I am an Amazon. To serve Olympus is my duty-bound pride. I have trained all my life to be a guardian of the gods. But Bruce? He trained to be a protector. An agent of Vengeance. A tool of Justice, not the pawn of the gods. If I could save him... I would..."
"Diana." She looked up at Aphrodite. "To serve the gods is a great honor. None can deny that fact. But this? This act could serve to save the very world itself. Should Nyx win, we shall lose. When I said that, I didn't mean the gods. All would be under her command. The light of day would vanish. The sun would be hidden from the eyes of all. Darkness would reign supreme, and all that was loved by the day shall be lost. Night would forever rule, and darkness would be-" Aphrodite's eyes widened. "Darkness?"
"Lady Aphrodite?"
She looked at Diana and smiled. "Be sure to succeed in your task, Diana. Much more than you know is riding on your shoulders. May the gods bless you as I do."
"Wait."
"Hm?"
"Speaking of the gods, what of Ares? He despises me. If Nyx wins, wouldn't a great war be raged? One that would empower him?"
Aphrodite sighed. "My dear, though it is true war would occur, and that it would greatly strengthen him, all, even he, knows the truth: he is no match for Nyx. After all, in a world completely under the rule of Nyx..."
Diana's eyes sharpened in realization. "Why would war be needed," she finished.
Aphrodite smiled. "Athena would be proud of you, my dear. Farewell." Aphrodite then vanished in a beautiful flash of light, leaving Diana alone in her room.
Meanwhile, Aphrodite appeared on her throne in Olympus, surrounded by the rest of the Pantheon. "I assume you all heard my talk with Diana?"
"We did," Poseidon said.
"And of course, we all realized what you did," Athena said. "Honestly, I'm impressed you of all people realized it sooner."
"Is peace deluding your precious wisdom," Aphrodite asked snidely.
"Why you little-"
"Enough," Zeus went. "We shall allow my daughter to deal with Nyx. We have more pressing matters to inquire in."
"Matters that we should have thought of the moment Nyx made her move," Apollo said.
"I'm ashamed I did not realize it," Artemis began. "Especially since they're both beings above me."
"And so, we all must ask," Zeus began as he looked among his fellow gods, all of them having the same thoughts on their minds.
"Where is Erebus? Where is the Primordial God of Darkness?"
