Three months later...
"Spring break's almost over, huh?"
We were all back in the dorms after spring break, and me and Shoji had gotten our instructions.
"We're going on a trip for our work study," Uraraka was saying, which got my attention.
"Oh, you're right," said Tsu.
"You girls too? For real? Same here!" said Kaminari.
"We've also got a trip planned for that day!" said Iida.
"Huh? What's up with that!?"
"Hang on, us too."
"Me too!"
Everyone in Class 1 A was, in fact, going...
We'd gathered together, me, Yaomomo, Kirishima, Ashido, Sero, Sato, Aoyama, Ojiro, Tetsutetsu, Shoji, Kuroiro, Shiozaki, Tokage. Kaminari was on the front lines. It was finally time to take them down.
The League of villains.
I plugged my headphone jacks into the ground, keeping track of what was going on out front with our friends.
"Get up, GRape Juice," said Sero.
Jeez, Mineta.
"Why? The rear guard's job is just to catch any bad guys who slip past the front line. So getting all pumped up is actually kinda insulting to the pros, right?"
"Get. Up."
"It's starting," said oneof the pros.
"What?"
"You said that so casually.
I was listening in. From a distance, I could hear the sound of many heroic boots in motion.
"They're on the move."
"This operation has brought heroes together on an unprecedented scale. But that's no reason to relax just yet," said one of hte pros out front. "What this means is that we need everyone here to face the massive threat in front of us!"
"I'm not to worried about Tokoyami," I muttered. "But what about -"
I felt a pair of soft hands on my shoulder. Yaomomo looked at me. I could see she was sweating a little too. But she told me, firmly and calmly. "I'm sure he'll be just fine."
Looking out towards the front lines, I couldn't help thinking back to all the things that had gone down between me and Kaminari, over the years. All the fun times...how he'd helped me out when I was doubting myself so much...all he'd done to help our band move forward...he really was, truly, my friend. Even if he could be panicky, foolish, impulsive, and a scaredy cat. I really, really didn't want him to get hurt. And I really didn't want him to panic.
And I told him, not sure if he could hear me somehow,
"Get it done, Chargebolt."
Thomp - thomp - thomp
What the hell is that?
The ground was filled with stamping feet, and from behind I could see that our classmates had come back - Kaminari, Kuroiro, and Honenuki...thank goodness.
"What a relief!" Yaoyorozus started - but -
Thomp - thomp. tomp. "This is bad!" I shouted.
"What's wrong, Jiro-jack?" Kaminari asked me.
"What's going on? Did they break through the blockade?"
"Something insanely huge is coming!" I told them.
"We're going ahead to secure the frontlines!" called a voice. I turned, and saw that the heroes were all - running, leaving us?
"You interns wait right there!"
"I guess the heroes are uniting?' cried Mineta.
There were several awful, silent moments. We all waited. We're alone - all alone - I was shaking. I could see that Kaminari was shaking too. We were alone, us interns. No pros left. They had all left.
I plugged my headphones in. I could hear then, from a distance. Shouts, pushing, the loudstomping -
Mt Lady's voice, shouting "I haven't been this close to a boy in -" something...
She was struggling?
I told them "They're fighting - fighting the villains. The villains have some - some giant fighter with them - he's even throwing Mt Lady!"
" She's not holding up - "
Shoji said, "Miss Midnight is going in for the attack. I can see, almost. She's going to put him out with her quirk." He too, was shaking. "It really is - he really is a massive villain...
He jumped. "No - he's attacked her - she's injured, falling -"
Creeek! "You there, Creaty?"
Miss Midnight's voice came over the comlink. It sounded faded, hesitant, like - as though it was hard for her to breathe? Oh, no.
"Ms Midnight?" asked Yaomomo.
"Do you understand the situation?"
"Yes, thanks to Jiro's hearing and Shoji's eyes!"
"He threw Mt. Lady?" "A correspondence with Midnight?" the others were saying.
"We can't stop him with force. So you'll need to put him to sleep."
"What?" said YAomomo.
"It may be against the law, but it can't be helped in this situation. You need to put him to sleep with an anesthetic."
"What are you saying, Ms Midnight?" she gasped.
"If it's too difficult, hand the anesthetic to the heroes, and then leave - that place! Go ahead and evacuate! I'll leave it to you and your judgment!""
"Ms Midnight?" Yaomomo cried - but there was no answer.
"Ms Midnight!?" she screamed.
There was nothing. The line went - dead.
"What's with that report?" "She's leaving it to Yaomomo?" "If it's putting him to sleep then, why was mis Midnight unable to do ti?"
"Midnight...why..." came Kaminari's voice. Oh man.
"What sould we do, Yaomomo!?"
"Do we just runaway with our tails between our legs -"
Suddenly, Yaomomo's voice came to us in the midst of all the chaos.
"Earphone Jack! Tentacole! Using your hearing, determine the time it'll take him to get here and the path he'll use! He's a massive giant so measuring with your eyes is fine as well! Mudman, please lend us your power! Everyone hurry and get ready!"
"No way, I can already see him! He's fast! It won't even take ten seconds -" I cried.
But I could hear - the stomping had slowed - someone was holding him back. "He's slowed down - but only a bit!"
"He's about 25 miles away, and he's bigger than Mt Lady!" gasped Shoji.
From Yaomomo's arms came some sort of invention. Her face looked absolutely determined.
"I never learned to be a hero that shows their back to the enemy.""
"That's right!" gasped Kirishima.
"I'm going to fight," she told us. "As for you guys -"
"Say no more!" said Kaminari. "When we don these costumes and step outside, we're heroes!"
"This is our domain!" She called.
I felt so reassured. Those two...Always inspiring me.
