Chapter IV: First Day, First Impressions
It was the first day of school and Kazui decided to leave early.
While classes don't start until eight in the morning – not to mention the opening ceremony – he was interested in knowing who his classmates will be.
There were already a few names he wanted to share this school year. First on the list was Momo Yaoyorozu, for obvious reasons. Being the first ever to get the true meaning behind his name, the rich girl became an important person in Kazui's lonely life. So, if she ever ended up in the same class as him, it would be a great blessing.
The second was that green-haired boy. While he seemed timid and unsuspecting, Kazui believed in the saying "More than meets the eye." Izuku Midoriya was the closest person to match his power and the different kind of spiritual energy swirling in the greenette was something to be both curious and wary about.
The third would be the gravity girl. Nothing complicated; just that she seemed like a fun girl to hang out with. Also, he found it would be fun teasing Ochako with Izuku, as evidenced by their interaction a while back resulting in the devious little grin he had right now.
"Hehehe. I guess the playfulness I got from Mom is rearing its head."
Opting to take the scenic route, Kazui took a stroll over Musutafu on the way to UA and when we say over Musutafu, it meant using Flash Steps while traveling on air.
The method certainly helped in avoiding traffic. However, he just wanted a good view of the horizon and the many buildings adding to the city's beauty.
It didn't take long for him to reach the gates of UA Academy. Just like last time, it was still as impressive as he remembered. Kazui reached for the letter he got a week ago confirming his admission to check which class he belonged to.
"Let's see… Class 1-A."
After a quick walk through the school's halls, he finally found his classroom; not that it wasn't hard to find considering the large "1-A" sign on the equally large front door.
"Is it just me or are they over-compensating for something?"
The carrot top just shrugged, chalking up the overly large door as a convenience for students with quirks that affect their height. Pushing the door in, Kazui was greeted by around ten students, all busy mingling with one another.
"Am I too early?" he asked no one in particular.
"Nah man," replied a redhead boy who looked familiar. "It's still at least an hour before the entrance ceremony."
The red-headed student approached the death god and paused a bit, examining him with utmost scrutiny.
"Is there something on my face?" questioned Kazui. However, he would get a different reply instead.
"Aha!" exclaimed the student before him. He turned around and called for another student; this time, a girl with pink hair, pink skin, and two small antennas. "Mina! It's the guy that helped us during the exam!"
"Really!?" Not a second later, the all-pink girl ran to Kazui and began shaking his hand. "I can't believe you're in this class, too! I'm Mina Ashido and this pack of muscles in Eijiro Kirishima."
"Nice to meet you," Kirishima said with a smile.
"It's no big deal," Kazui stated, downplaying the rescue. "I'm Kazui Kurosaki, by the way."
"Cool, bro!"
"It seems you're making new friends already, Kazui."
Kazui recognized that voice. Turning around, he smiled when his eyes landed on a familiar raven-haired rich girl.
"It's great you're in this class with me, Momo."
"Same here," replied the Yaoyorozu heiress. "It's nice to have a familiar face in here."
"You can say that again. Oh, these two are Eijiro Kirishima and Mina Ashido. I helped them during the exams," Kazui said, pointing to the two new acquaintances.
"How are you doing?"
"'Sup!"
"I'm Momo Yaoyorozu." Momo held out her hand which was accepted by the two classmates.
"Nice to meet you, Yao…yo…ugh," Mina groaned. "I can't say your name right. Can I just call you Yaomomo instead?"
"Yaomomo?" questioned the bewildered girl.
"Yeah! I mean, it's way easier than your full name."
For the most part, Momo didn't know what to say. She was a tad embarrassed that her name was shortened like that. While she understood that her surname was indeed a mouthful, she still preferred if they used her full name rather than the one Mina came up with.
"It's kind of cute."
"Huh?" Momo's head snapped towards Kazui. "What did you say?"
"It sounds cute," Kazui clarified as he stared at the raven-haired girl beside him. "It suits you."
A shade of pink filled Yaoyorozu's cheeks. "Stop embarrassing me."
"I'm not." The carrot top feigned innocence. "I'm just being brutally honest."
"Ha-ha, very funny, Kazui."
"Well, anyway, how was the exam?" Kazui asked, changing the topic.
The bashful demeanor of Momo disappeared and quickly turned into smug confidence. "I have you know I aced all of the questions. There was a bit of a hurdle in one section of the written portion but all in all, I got a perfect score."
Kazui whistled before replying, "I know I expected it to happen, but I'm still impressed, nonetheless."
The smart girl's attention focused on the other two. "How about you, Ashido-san, Kirishima-san? How was the exam?"
"We had a bit of trouble during the practical portion but thanks to Kazui," Kirishima jabbed a thumb to the young hybrid, "we got more than enough points to pass!"
"As for the written part…" Mina mumbled while sheepishly scratching the back of her head.
"Yeah…we barely passed that," clarified the redhead.
However, Kazui just smiled at the two and said, "Hey, at least you got in! That's what counts the most."
Momo observed Kazui as he cheered up their two classmates. He may not notice it, but the girl could see that the young orange-haired boy was very empathic about other people's plights. It was one of the things about the reaper she was attracted to.
"Huh? Did I just think of that?" Momo shook her head to get those thoughts out.
The door opened, gaining the attention of the eleven students present to an ash-blonde boy who went to the seat in the far-right corner near the front and sat down with his legs resting on the desk.
"One look alone and I already know his attitude is a pile of horse manure," Kazui remarked after observing the new arrival.
"I wouldn't jump to conclusions, Kazui," Momo said.
"Yeah," Kirishima agreed. "Just because he looks a little rough around the edges, doesn't mean he's bad."
The young reaper just shook his head in disagreement. "Trust me, I know an egotistical punk when I see one."
Yaomomo, Kirishima, and Ashido took a step back from Kazui's sudden voice change.
"Dude, you're voice just became scary," Mina nervously commented.
"Oh, sorry about that," Kazui apologized. "It happens when I get a bit pissed."
"No shit," said Kirishima, remembering the more ruthless side of the carrot top during the admission tests.
After a tearful goodbye from his mother, Izuku left his house to start his first day at U.A. Academy. The greenette could still remember the time he received his acceptance letter from the prestigious school. Heck, his mother was a fumbling mess when she barged into his room and handed him the letter. As for Gojo, he wasn't as excited as the other two since, as per his words…
"With my impressive powers, I'm confident you could get in without much effort!"
There was some effort, truth be told, but you get the idea.
It was fifteen minutes before eight; a good time to arrive before the opening ceremony. While he looked like he was silently walking through the halls toward his designated classroom, he was actually in a conversation with the spirit living rent-free in his head.
"So, do you have any thoughts on who'll be your classmate?" Gojo questioned.
Izuku stared at the ceiling in thought while minding where he was going. "Hmm…I don't know," he answered.
"Okay…how about the people you want to be in the same class as you?"
Perking up at the question, Midoriya quickly replied, "Ochako."
"Figures," Gojo remarked with a knowing smirk, embarrassing the boy.
"Then there's that orange-haired guy that saved me and Ochako."
The moment Izuku mentioned Kazui, Gojo became serious. "Listen to me, Izuku." He got a nod from the boy. "The boy, Kazui, was it? I want you to be careful around him."
Izuku understood Gojo's concern. Here was a boy who could harness a purer form of curse energy.
They had this discussion multiple times and for them, it was better to be safe than sorry.
The master and student sorcerers still have no clue as to how strong the boy was in using curse energy. At least, the demonstration with the Zero Pointer a few weeks back gave them a baseline.
"I will, sensei," assured the sorcerer-in-training.
"I know you will. He might look like a nice guy, but best be careful when there are too many unknowns."
"Right!"
"Oh, and by the way…" Gojo pointed at a figure prancing in their direction. "Gravity girl incoming."
"Huh?"
Izuku didn't have time to react when a pair of brown-colored eyes on a round face with permanent blushes was in front of him.
"Hey, Izuku!"
Ochako Uraraka greeted excitedly with a bright smile, leaving the boy in question all flustered at their proximity.
"H-Hi, Uraraka!"
"You remind me of Yūta with that stuttering of yours," Gojo remarked with a sigh. "I really need to get that fixed."
"I'm so glad you passed," Uraraka exclaimed. "I thought I won't be able to get in but thanks to the rescue points, I got enough to pass!"
In a sudden twist of events, it appears that there was more to the exam than just beating villains. The testing committee incorporated the concept of "Rescue Points" into the overall scoring rubric. This was to assess who among the candidates has what it takes to be not just a crime fighter, but also a person willing to risk themselves for the safety of others. With that fact made clear, Ochako and Izuku were given high marks in that category, thereby granting them entrance to U.A.
"Umm…yeah," the boy stammered. "I actually got seventy-four points thanks to that hidden criterion.
"Neat! I got sixty-nine points! Say, what class are you?"
"1-A."
Ochako gasped. "No way! I'm also in 1-A! We get to be in the same class, that's so awesome!"
Izuku gave her a wobbly smile, thanking whoever deity decided he could be classmates with someone he knew – and was on good terms.
"I heard we'd get a short day today," Uraraka went on. "They'll probably just do an orientation or something."
"That makes sense," Midoriya said when suddenly, Uraraka grabbed his hand and began sprinting off to their classroom, dragging him along.
Ochako made sure to only let four fingers touch Izuku's hand to make sure the boy doesn't accidentally float away. "Oh! Izuku, look!" she pointed at the massive door with the equally massive "1-A" sign. "There's our classroom!"
Izuku wasn't overwhelmed when he saw the gigantic door of his designated class. Really, if you encountered a gigantic building-sized robot as part of the exam then what more could surprise you?
"This is it, kiddo," Gojo said encouragingly. "Behind this door begins your journey to become a hero."
"…And I couldn't have done it without you, Gojo-sensei," was Izuku's sincere reply. Taking a deep breath, he slid the door open and heard a familiar voice that almost want to make him shut it in an instant.
"What? You think you're hot shit, you worthless extra!?"
"Oh, for the love of God!"
"Well, so much for an easy high school life," remarked the ancient spirit upon seeing the source of his successor's plight.
As usual, Katsuki Bakugō was acting like your typical high school thug; with his legs propped up on his desk, clothes rumpled up with his red tie absent, and an expression begging for someone to give him a reason to blow them up.
"How rude! Is that the kind of attitude a student at this school should have?"
When the greenhead looked at the one arguing with the ash-blonde, he groaned in annoyance when he saw it was the blue-haired teen with the glasses.
Luckily, there was someone else in the room that Izuku could consider a friendly face.
"Yo!"
Izuku turned to the one who called.
"If it isn't Izuku and Ochako!"
Midoriya's face brightened when he saw the person who rescued him and Uraraka. As for the brunette, her face lit up and waved at the approaching carrot top.
"Wow! It's the one with the big red laser attack!"
"Your name was Kazui, right?"
"It's called a Cero," clarified Kazui for the girl and then answered the greenette. "Yeah. Good thing you still remembered my name."
"How could we!?" Ochako exclaimed excitedly. "You just obliterated that second Zero Pointer like it was made of paper!"
"Hey, I know it was impressive." Kazui then pointed at Izuku. "But your friend here blew off the head of the first one with just one punch."
All eyes fell on the two people mentioned. Everyone in the class had heard of the impressive feat yet they still didn't know who was responsible for the spectacular stunt. Now, they have a name and a face.
"BULLSHIT!" yelled Bakugō as he pointed to Kazui and Izuku. "You mean to tell me that shitty Deku and that baby-faced extra destroyed two Zero Pointers!?"
Nobody answered. Kazui just dismissed the angry boy and said, "Don't mind the angry Pomeranian. He's been like that since he arrived this morning."
That remark only agitated the ash blonde. "You got a problem, carrot top?"
Kazui wasn't intimidated in the least. "The problem began when you opened your mouth."
Meanwhile, Izuku was getting worried. "Umm… Kazui? I don't think it's a good idea to antagonize Kacchan." He didn't want his new friend to get hurt for fighting back against Bakugō but sadly, the greenhead couldn't stop the orange-haired boy from retorting.
"You know what they say, the best problems are the ones that solve themselves." Kazui then shrugged. "So I suggest you close your mouth so we could have a problem-free day. Oh, mind keeping it shut for like… forever?"
That little display of witty sass made everyone chuckle or hold back fits of laughter. It even made Uraraka and Izuku giggle at the backtalk. As for the angry blonde, it only made him more livid at the orange-haired punk for the insult.
"Oh, you think you're a smartass, huh?" Katsuki stood up and stomped toward the three.
Izuku was beginning to panic and quickly got in front of Ochako. Meanwhile, Kazui wasn't afraid in the least. The hybrid could see sparks coming off from the furious blonde.
The tension only increased when Kazui's eyes turned black with golden irises. A mass of white began coalescing over the right side of his face and a heavy feeling began enveloping the entire classroom.
This made Bakugo stop and stare at the blonde with an emotion foreign to him. Nonetheless, the explosion boy will not let this extra go after insulting him. Whatever this pressure was, it won't stop him from reminding this punk and Deku of their place.
Just when an altercation was about to erupt, a new voice called for the two to stop.
"If the two of you came to school just to pick a fight, then I suggest you get out!"
Attention diverted towards a yellow sleeping bag with a cranky-looking man inside glaring at the two. The sound of a zipper being opened followed, revealing the stranger with black hair in black clothes with a strange beige scarf around his heck.
"Sit down, all of you," ordered the man. "I don't want any trouble on the first day of class."
Immediately, everyone went to their seats out of fear. Katsuki was still furious at Kazui while the young reaper calmly proceeded to his chosen seat which was next to Momo.
"Eight seconds," the stranger said looking at his watch. "Too slow for my liking. Anyway, my name is Shoto Aizawa, and I'll be your homeroom teacher. Nice to meet you, I suppose?"
While everybody else was surprised to find out this hobo was their homeroom teacher, Izuku found this Aizawa person oddly familiar. The scarf and the black clothes reminded him of a hero, he just couldn't figure out who.
"Get to the locker rooms and change into the gym clothes provided," Aizawa said. "Meet me at the grounds for some evaluations."
While the school uniforms looked where somewhat subdued, the gym clothes were bright and loud. They were blue with red and white highlights; the white parts spelled "UA" across their bodies.
The boy's changing room was filled with tension from the near confrontation between Kazui and Bakugō. Every once in a while, the rude ash blonde would glare daggers at both Kazui and Izuku. The former wasn't intimidated in the least while the latter tried to use the others as a shield so he would be out of his former friend's view.
Eventually, all students managed to get dressed and arrived at the training ground with their teacher waiting for them.
"It took you ten minutes just to get changed into your gym clothes," Aizawa said in mild disappointment. "A pro hero can get into the most complicated costume in five. That would've been useful during quick-response crises where time is of the essence." He turned around and walked to the field. "Come on; we'll be evaluating your quirks and physical abilities today."
"Aizawa-sensei," Uraraka raised her hand, "what about the entrance ceremonies?"
The hobo-looking teacher could almost scoff, if not for the effort of it. "UA isn't your typical school. Unlike the rest, we have a more freestyle education that lets me do what I think is best for my students; meaning I could drag you away from unnecessary stuff like an entrance ceremony."
The pro hero/teacher stopped in front of a few pieces of exercise-related equipment and stared back at his students. "I find it illogical and counterintuitive for the current educational system to limit people from using their quirks. Just like a muscle, a quirk is also part of the body. Preventing it from being utilized and measured in a society dominated by quirks is the height of stupidity."
Inside Izuku's head, Gojo was listening to Aizawa's little speech and was rather impressed. "He would've made a great teacher back at Tokyo Jujutsu High if he lived four hundred years ago."
Aizawa took a tablet and skimmed through the list. "Kazui Kurosaki."
Kazui stepped forward. "Yes, teacher?"
"How far was your longest ball throw in middle school?"
"Physical or quirk-enhanced?"
"Just physical."
"Two Hundred fifteen meters."
Everyone looked at Kazui like he had a second head. Even Aizawa was a little stunned at the claim.
"Is this some kind of joke, Kurosaki?"
Kazui just shook his head. "No sensei," he confidently replied. "Let's just say I'm built differently."
Whether Aizawa took that statement as arrogance or confidence, we'll never know. He just sighed and urged the carrot-top kid to go on with the assessment.
Kazui took on a pitcher's stance. The familiar red artery-like lines emerged on his skin.
Mina and Kirishima were the only ones who got a close look at the red lines. Based on their memory, it increased their classmate's strength. However, what they didn't expect were the wisps of gold and red dancing around him. It mesmerized not just the two but most of their classmates with the beautiful display of colors surrounding Kazui. The only one not amused was Bakugo.
From within Izuku's mind, Gojo was observing this "purer" curse energy from the boy in the circle; noting the fundamental differences between regular curse energy and Kazui's own.
Those flakes of colors all converged into Kazui's throwing arm and with a powerful swing, hurled the ball into the stratosphere with so much force that multiple sonic booms cracked the sky.
Aizawa lazily looked at the tablet and whistled at the score before showing it to the class. "One thousand five hundred fifteen meters."
"Holy shit!"
"Over a kilometer!?"
"Is that even possible!?"
The homeroom teacher of Class 1-A dismissed those exclamations and continued giving his opinion. "This test is aimed to give us a baseline on your quirks. That way, we'll know what to improve during your stay here."
With the prospect of using their quirks without restraint, the entire class of first years became excited; so much so that Mina couldn't help but let out a comment she would come to regret.
"We could use our quirks however we want!" exclaimed the all-pink girl. "This is so much fun."
That last word caught the attention of Aizawa, making him grin with so much sadism that most of the students wanted to hightail it out of there.
"Fun, you say? How about we make this more interesting? The person who scores the lowest on this test gets expelled."
"WHAT!?" the same, pink-skinned girl exclaimed.
"That's not fair, Aizawa-sensei!" Ochako yelled.
The outburst didn't faze him. "Unfair? How about natural disasters? Do they only pick the people they claim? How about villain attacks? Terrorism? Face it, kid, life isn't fair. All of you should understand that now than during your future careers. As pro heroes, it's our job to make the world fair."
"Wrong."
All eyes landed on Kazui whose face held a serious expression.
"No matter what you do as heroes, you can never make the world fair," Kazui stated. "We can't fight the forces that shape the world; that dictate what's is meant to happen. Even when all the cards are in the favor of the good and righteous, it won't mean a thing if destiny decides that the unjust would be the victors.
"Men aren't born equal. No one is perfect. Even gods are meant to fall." He said that last sentence as if he experienced it. "The only thing we can do is make the best of what we got and do what it takes to extend that to those who need it."
Silence.
Nobody said a word after Kazui's speech. They were all basically floored at how blunt the young reaper had laid it. None of them could find a reason to disagree with the hybrid and it even made both Aizawa and Gojo impressed.
"This kid knows what he's saying," thought the sorcerer.
"What the kid said was right," Aizawa recovered. "You have three years in U.A. to become the best heroes you can be. As of right now, I'm your judge, jury, and executioner. If I see anyone trying to half-ass his way through my class, then you should just get out. This school is considered the best in Japan and thus we expect you to give it your best and then some. That's what it means to go beyond, to go Plus Ultra."
…And thus the Quirk Apprehension Tests began.
Meanwhile, four people were busy watching the first years performing the assessment.
One was a beautiful blue-haired girl bouncing excitedly after Kazui's throw. "Hey, hey! Wasn't he the one who scored the highest during the admission tests?"
"I think so," lazily replied a black-haired boy who had an expression of abject misery on his face. "Still, if Aizawa-sensei was serious about expelling them, then better them than me. I know I'd fail if I was in their place."
"That's so mean of him!" the blue-haired girl expressed.
"They'll be fine, Nejire," assured a tall blonde teen standing next to All Might. "I've seen the footage and I've got to say, this year's freshmen are truly amazing! Right, Tamaki?"
"Whatever you say, Mirio," said the black-haired teen known as Tamaki.
The three students observing the freshmen were U.A.'s best students dubbed the "Big 3" which consists of Nejire Hadō, Tamaki Amaikiji, and All Might's successor, Mirio Togata.
The muscly hero simply gave a hardy laugh at the antics of the three, third years. "Indeed, young Togata! No doubt this year's batch of students would be the best one yet!"
When All Might chose Togata to be his successor at the behest of his sidekick, Sir Nighteye, he knew that the other two would be added as a packaged deal. While the secret of his Quirk, One For All, should be revealed only to those trusted by the wielder, at least the young inheritor kept it to himself until he could convince All Might that his friends were trustworthy.
"Hey, look!" Nejire pointed to Class 1-A. "They're starting with the other tests!"
"Then let us watch!" And watched. However, All Might's attention was focused solely on the green-haired boy he met months ago. "Maybe this will help me figure out how you obtained a quirk so powerful, young Midoriya"
The first test was a 50-meter race. Each student did their best to achieve the fastest score possible. Most, if not all of the freshmen have less than ten seconds of running time. However, it was Kazui and Izuku who performed the best in this.
Izuku used his Limitless to bend space and teleport himself to the finish line, surprising his partner which happened to be Bakugo of all people. The arrogant ash blonde had his expectations shattered when the greenette only took a blink to reach the finish line. As for Kazui, all it took was a Sonido, leaving his partner, Tenya, to catch up.
The next was the strength test. The most notable individuals in this category were Kazui, Izuku, and the multi-limbed student Shōji Mezo. While the others all had average strength, the three mentioned scored well over the hundreds; with Shōji and Kazui tying using their enhanced strength while Izuku came in a close second with his curse-enhanced body.
The rest of the tests were done rather equally in the first years. Izuku and Kazui performed exceptionally during these tests with the others not far behind. The former was thanking Gojo in his head for the ten-month physical training he had while the latter wasn't worried because of his experiences. As he said earlier, he was just built differently.
Finally, it was time for the softball throw again. Kazui sat this one out since he was already done. The others did the best they could - some only gained an average ball throw while those with strength-related quirks scored higher. Some utilized their quirks in unique ways to achieve considerable distance like Momo creating a cannon to fire the ball.
Now, it was Bakugō's turn. He snatched the ball from his teacher and glared at the two boys who he despised. He was determined to show these extras, especially the carrot top and worthless Deku, that he was the top dog around here.
Stepping into the circle, he reared his hand back and with all his bottled-up anger, threw the ball into the sky with a powerful explosion.
"DIE!"
And the ball rocketed across the field, leaving a trail of smoke before harmlessly bouncing on the other end.
Aizawa checked the display on his tablet and announced Bakugō's score. "Seven hundred five meters and fifty centimeters."
"…The fuck!?" the ash blonde exclaimed internally. He couldn't believe it. "Carrot top's throw is still hundreds of meters ahead of mine!?" His internal denial would only be compounded when Izuku stepped into the circle.
Just like Kazui, the sorcerer-to-be took a pitcher's stance. From his hand, a gentle flame-like glow was flaring around the ball with its emerald-green hue. Immediately, the appearance of the fire-like power caught the attention of Kazui and Momo.
"So I was right," the Yaoyorozu heiress confirmed her suspicions. "It is curse energy."
Meanwhile, Kazui was feeling the difference in his spiritual energy from Izuku's. "There is no doubt this is spiritual energy; only that it's acclimated to a negative spectrum. Maybe this kind of reishi adapted to the unique environment of this realm."
Izuku eventually threw the ball; the object disappeared into the clouds as it shattered the sound barrier. He then looked to his homeroom teacher for his score and was shown the numbers on the tablet.
941.31 m.
The result made Gojo's successor smile. Finally, he was able to show he meant something and that he was closer to becoming a hero.
However…
"DEKU!"
Izuku flinched once he heard Bakugō stomp toward him. The boy could see the hands of his former childhood friend crackling and sparking while sporting a face full of hate and jealousy.
"You motherfucker!" Katsuki yelled. "I don't know how you fucking did it, but you're gonna tell me how you got a quirk and you're gonna do it right–"
Aizawa was about to intervene when suddenly, Bakugō was tackled to the ground. It was quick even for the pro hero. When he and the others looked, they found Kazui pinning the furious blonde with his left arm positioned next to the hybrid's knee ready for a snap.
"The fuck!?" Bakugo squirmed under the young reaper's weight. "Let go of me you fucker or I'm gonna kill you!"
"Try it and this arm of yours bends in the opposite direction," threatened Kazui.
The rest of the first years, and even All Might and the third years, were taken aback by Kazui's threat.
Katsuki, though, wasn't intimidated. He tried to use his quirk to blast Kazui's face, but the orange-haired teen used his knee as leverage to apply force on the ash blonde's elbow. This caused Bakugo to wince and squirm from the pain, making him stop his attempt.
"Kurosaki, stop!" Aizawa ordered.
Kazui didn't want to let go since Bakugō might still attack Izuku. However, his sight found its way to Momo. She was looking at him with concern; fearing that he might do something he'll regret. The girl shook her head, signaling the boy to finally stop. This made Kazui release his captive's arm and stood between Izuku and Bakugo. The latter was massaging his left elbow while looking like he was about to commit murder.
"I don't know what problems you have with Midoriya, Bakugō, but I don't want to see it in my class," the hobo hero/teacher stated. "Make sure you get that attitude straight, or I'll be forced to take drastic measures. Am I clear?"
Bakugo looked away and "tsked." He wanted to get back at the carrot top for humiliating him but with their teacher here, he wouldn't risk it if it meant expulsion.
"Crystal," was all the angry teen could say.
Aizawa then turned to Kazui with the same glare he had for this bruhaha's instigator. "It's not your job to punish misbehaving students, Kurosaki; it's mine. While I do appreciate your defending of Midoriya, you were excessive in dealing with Bakugō. Leave the disciplining to me from now on."
"I won't make any promises sensei, but I will try," Kazui answered.
Aizawa nodded. "That's all I need." He then turned to the entirety of Class 1-A, specifically, to Ochako. "Alright, Uraraka." He threw a new ball to the brunette. "It's your turn to throw."
Now, everyone thought the round-faced girl would only get an average throwing distance, given her petite frame and support-oriented quirk. That said, behind that cute and lovely face was a clever girl who knows how to use her quirk. All Ochako did was touch the ball with all five fingers and chucked the thing into the distance.
It went away, and away, and away, and away, and… HOLY SHIT, IT'S GONE!
Aizawa stared at his tablet and then showed it to the rest of the class.
...The Infinity symbol covered most of the screen.
"Holy crap!" a student with a tape quirk, Hanta Sero, exclaimed.
Another student, Denki Kaminari, was trying and failing to grasp what just happened. "How the heck is that even possible!?"
"She canceled the gravity and let inertia do the rest," Momo remarked.
"The girl set a galactic record, hehehe," Kazui chuckled as he stared at Uraraka rejoicing while taking compliments from Midoriya.
After tallying the scores, the homeroom teacher/pro hero presented the rankings of the test. It went as follows:
1.) Kazui Kurosaki
2.) Izuku Midoriya
3.) Momo Yaoyorozu
4.) Shōto Todoroki
5.) Katsuki Bakugō
6.) Tenya Īda
7.) Fumikage Tokoyami
8.) Mezō Shoji
9.) Mashirao Ojiro
10.) Eijirō Kirishima
11.) Mina Ashido
12.) Ochako Uraraka
13.) Kōji Kōda
14.) Rikidō Satō
15.) Tsuyu Asui
16.) Yūga Aoyama
17.) Hanta Sero
18.) Denki Kaminari
19.) Kyōka Jirō
20.) Tōru Hagakure
21.) Minoru Mineta
Upon seeing his name in last place, the midget with grape hair known as Mineta dropped to his knees and spilled tears of frustration.
"By the way, no one is getting expelled," Aizawa suddenly said, earning him looks of shock, relief, and disbelief. He took out some eyedrops and applied them to his eyes. "It was a logical ruse to force you to give it your all."
"Of course, he won't," Momo chimed. "It was obvious from the beginning," the rich girl confidently claimed.
However, Kazui knew otherwise and whispered into the girl's ear. "No, Momo; he wasn't lying."
"What do you mean?"
"I know a liar when I see one," answered the carrot top. "He was willing to expel one of us, heck maybe even all of us, if no one met his standards. The lie was that logical ruse part."
While the others cheered that none of them will get kicked out, Momo fell into contemplation after hearing Kazui's opinion. She stared intently at her class adviser while deep in thought. "Why would he go to such lengths?"
Unfortunately, that question would be answered at a later date since Aizawa-sensei was letting them go for the day.
"Alright, everyone!" Class 1-A's homeroom teacher called for his students' attention. "That's it for today. Get dressed back to your uniform and grab a syllabus for this year's subjects and the student handbook on my desk back in the classroom. Dismissed."
