And after a little bit, here's our next chapter!
Yeah, we're gonna try to focus on this for now, we really need to advance the story here since we have some plot points we can't wait to reveal to you all, and I'm sure you'll love them as they pop up.
Trust me when I say that the current arc will not go the way you expect it to.
Journey of Redemption - Part 2
"So...how long have we been walking already?" Emerald groaned.
"I lost count…" Morphomon groaned. "I think we took a wrong turn…"
"Gee, what was your first clue?" Emerald groused, remembering how Morphomon had told her that there was supposed to be a settlement nearby.
"Don't have to get grouchy...though yeah...my bad…" Morphomon groaned.
Emerald sighed, before she heard her stomach growl out "Dammit… when was the last time we ate anyway?"
"Uh… I think last night." Morphomon said.
"Right… and we didn't have anything for breakfast or lunch." Emerald groaned at that "Dammit… I don't want to feel like that again." she said to herself.
"Don't worry. We'll find something...eventually," Morphomon encouraged. It...wasn't really working.
"Great. When exactly is 'eventually'," Emerald groused.
Morphomon grumbled a bit as she looked around...and brightened. "It might be right now!" she said as she ran to a particular direction.
"H-Hey wait!" Emerald said as she ran after her apparent Digimon Partner.
Chasing after her, they soon arrived on what looked to be an old and abandoned farmland, with Emerald looking around in surprise "Well… this might actually be what we need." she said before she started walking, heading to where she could see a field full of vines "What kind of crops do you usually have in the Digital World?"
"Well, the most common one is Diginoir, which is basically like cereal, but the most luxurious one is definitely…" Morphomon trailed off, before she gasped in delight once they got closer "Yes! I knew it smelled like a meat farm!"
Emerald stopped at that, blinking slowly as they came up on the area full of vines "Meat… farm?" she repeated slowly as she looked at the literal chunks of meat on bone that were growing untamed on the many vines in the area.
She just kept turning her head slowly, until she stopped when she saw one piece of meat that was 10 times bigger than the rest "How does ANY of this make sense?!" she asked incredulously.
"It's pretty normal around here," Morphomon shrugged.
"That's what makes me worried," Emerald facepalmed with a groan. Eventually her hunger won out over her need for some kind of sense. "Okay, so we have a farm where literally pieces of meat grow. What do we do now?" she asked. Sure it might seem obvious, but despite being here for only two weeks, she'd quickly learned that logic did not exist.
"We cook it of course! Can't eat the meat raw." Morphomon said with a smile.
Emerald sighed "Alright, at least THAT makes sense."
A short while later the two had a fire going with some meat they harvested roasting over the fire, the smell wafting into the air and Emerald had to admit...it smelled really good.
"Let's eat!" Morphomon cheered once it was ready.
"Finally, I'm starving." Emerald said, before grabbing one of the pieces and biting into it, humming in delight at how good the meat tasted.
"Pretty great huh?" Morphomon asked knowingly.
"It's delicious." Emerald admitted with a nod once she swallowed the bite she had "I guess this little side trip was worth it in the end." she said jokingly, pausing after a moment to replay what she just said.
Did… did she just make a joke? And mean it too?
Apparently so considering Morphomon had caught a case of the giggles.
"You know, you look a lot better when you're happy," Morphomon said.
"But I'm happy...most of the time," Emerald said. Okay that one was a bit of a lie, but she didn't feel like admitting that. She was VERY happy to be at Cinder's side… right?
Morphomon seemed to disagree with how she was looking at her, but ultimately said "Alright, if you say so."
The two of them descended into a slightly uncomfortable silence as they continued to eat. After a while… "So...what do we do now?" Emerald asked.
"Well...we can get some as supplies, but I guess we have to keep moving," Morphomon said. "After that it's really hard to say. We'll have to regain our bearings to get to town and get more directions."
"Think there's a town around here then?" Emerald asked as she got up and grabbed a few smaller pieces of meat to carry with her.
"Possibly, considering there's a farm, and it doesn't look like it was abandoned TOO long ago." Morphomon shrugged "By the way, try to keep the bones from the meat farm produce, if you plant them in the ground, you can grow a whole other vineyard of meat."
Emerald blinked at that "A vineyard of meat… from planting a bone… who came up with this world sometimes? I swear to Oum." she said incredulously.
"Yeah, I hear rumors that the Chosen Children over in Server see some crazier stuff sometimes." Morphomon giggled in amusement.
"Chosen Children?" Emerald blinked. That sounded VERY important.
"Well, it's a bit of a misnomer since I hear they're about your age, but they were apparently chosen by Yggdrasil himself to save the Digital World during its darkest hours." Morphomon explained. "They're the reason the Digital World hasn't already fallen apart, especially when the Dark Masters got loose. The Dark Masters were a nasty group of Digimon. They tore apart and reformatted almost the entire continent of Server for their own means, and they were planning to do the same to the entire Digital World so they could rule everything," Morphomon shivered.
"Woah." Emerald said with wide eyes. That sounded a MILLION times bigger than anything Salem could do, and from what she understood, the old witch could apparently use magic of some kind.
"Yeah, I don't know if its an embellishment or not, but there were only 10, well...20 of them with their Digimon, but they took on entire armies and beat the Dark Masters one by one. The Dark Masters killed thousands when they first began their conquest, and it took them decades to build up that Spiral Mountain of theirs. The Chosen Children took them down in a week or less," Morphomon said. "Then again, I suppose that's what you can expect when they were literally chosen by our god."
"I… damn… that's pretty impressive." Emerald admitted in full honesty, before she got curious "Do you know anything else about them?"
"Well… I know that they apparently first arrived in the Digital World on File Island, which is just south of Folder, and they took on an evil Digimon that had taken control of the island, before they apparently got to Server and then took out the two biggest names there at the time: Etemon and Myotismon."
Emerald committed that to memory. She had a feeling if these Chosen Children ever got wind of what Cinder's boss was up to, they'd march right up to them and well...she had a feeling that this wouldn't be like taking apart Beacon...and THAT went sour really quickly too thanks to the apparent leak of information those 'Foretellers' made. "Where are they now?"
"I dunno," Morphomon shrugged. "They kinda dropped off the radar for a while, but I've heard rumors there's some guy calling himself the 'Digimon King' over in Server. Seems not everyone is happy with what he's doing so maybe they're fighting him? Then again if they were they'd have probably stomped him easy."
"Digimon King huh?" Emerald repeated, committing everything Morphomon said to memory.
"Well that's all I know really. Folder isn't really the kind of place anyone goes to. It's only because we get some signals and the occasional traveler that we know what's going on. Other than that, pretty much every other continent leaves us alone...not that each Continent really meddled in each others' affairs to begin with," Morphomon shrugged.
"Why is this place mostly left alone?" Emerald couldn't help but ask.
"Well… let's just say this place is pretty lawless." Morhpomon said simply.
"Ah… good to know." Emerald said, frowning a bit. At least she was warned, so she'd know not to expect any kind of rule following.
"So yeah, just be careful," Morphomon sighed.
"Gotta admit, seeing how you were acting when we first met, I didn't peg this place as being well...lawless," Emerald frowned.
"Well...some Digimon decided to go with the flow, others decided to try and make it better. I'd like to think I'm one of the latter," Morphomon sighed.
"Right…" Emerald said, sounding a bit skeptical of the idea.
"You don't believe it's gonna work," Morphomon said. It wasn't a question, it was a statement. "Well you wouldn't be the first one to be that way, but honestly I'd rather know I at least tried rather than just giving up before I even tried to do anything," she shrugged, for once lacking the usual energy she had.
Emerald stared at her in surprise at that "I… think I can get where you're coming from there." she admitted after a moment, before sighing a bit "I kept trying and trying too… once." she said, thinking back to years ago when she kept trying to get justice for her father, but nobody wound up listening to her in the end.
The heavy atmosphere returned, before Morphomon decided to break it. "Let's...turn in for the night. We can continue travelling in the morning," she suggested.
"Y-yeah, let's do that," Emerald nodded. Clearly both of them weren't really in the mood for heavy stuff tonight.
The next morning saw the two of them continuing on their way, having taken some of the meat with them for the trip. At first things were rather uneventful, but eventually they found something. A sign.
"Castle City?" Emerald read.
"Oh! I've heard of that place. It's basically a city that is inside of and part of a large castle hence the name," Morphomon said.
"There's a castle around here?" Emerald asked in surprise, not having seen any signs of one when she had a clear view of the horizon, so far at least.
"Well we're not THAT close to it. But the sign points the way," Morphomon said. "Should we go?"
"A City means we'll be able to get directions," Emerald said simply, earning a nod from Morphomon.
"Okay then, let's go," Morphomon nodded, the two of them following the directions of the sign and eventually they saw what looked like a castle in the distance.
The two of them eventually reached the castle and true enough, it was quite a large one at that, large enough that it indeed seemed to have a small city inside its walls.
Going up to the gates, unsurprisingly there were guards on watch. "Halt! State your business!" the guards, a pair of PawnChessmon, albeit one white and the other black, said together.
"We're just a pair of travelers," Morphomon said. "We're looking for old lady Babamon."
"If it's her you're looking for then she isn't here," the white PawnChessmon said.
"Can we at least enter to rest and restock on supplies?" Morphomon asked.
The two PawnChessmon looked at them then at each other and seemed to silently debate something. Eventually…
"Very well, but be warned, if you cause any trouble you won't like the consequences," the black PawnChessmon said.
Emerald frowned a bit at that "Right… noted." she said before the two Digimon made the gate behind them open up, permitting the two access through it and into Castle City.
Stepping inside, it looked like an old timey rural town, the kind you'd see in a period piece, and apparently the entrance let out right into the marketplace.
"Wow… never seen a town like this before." Morphomon said, sounding impressed.
"I've seen places like this, but mostly just on TV." Emerald said with a shrug "Still… what those guards said… pretty ominous if you ask me… watch yourself in this place."
"Wise words for just about anywhere here," Morphomon sighed.
The two of them were soon exploring the town, while also getting anything they needed.
At the same time, Morphomon asked around if anyone had any clues as to where Babamon was. Unfortunately it seemed nobody knew anything. However, as they moved, they couldn't help but notice an oddity of the town. It was like the town had this… oppressive feeling, a permanent state of glumness somehow.
Emerald frowned at this "Something's going on in this town." she said, earning a nod from Morphomon.
"Even more reason we should be careful," Morphomon frowned.
The two of them continued on their way through the town, the feeling that seemed to permeate the town never seeming to fade. It wasn't long before both were starting to feel thoroughly creeped out, and decided now was as good a time as any to get out since they had everything they needed. However, when they were making their way towards the front gate, that's when things went awry.
"Let's get out and keep going." Emerald said as they neared the gate, despite the fact Morphomon was looking behind her in worry.
"Right." Morphomon eventually said with a sigh, the two reaching the gate and about to request it be opened, before…
SLAM!
A shutter of some kind slid down the gate, making it impossible to open.
"What the-?!" Emerald gasped, caught off guard.
The surprise only continued as more shudders slid down, barring the many windows within the castle, preventing further escape.
"What's going on?!" Morphomon gasped.
"I don't know, but I don't like it." Emerald grit her teeth in annoyance.
"Think we can still go over the gate?" Morphomon asked.
"Definitely better than being stuck here," Emerald agreed. But before they could put that idea into motion, a PA was suddenly heard, which allowed them to notice all the nearby Digimon cowering in fear.
They heard a slow and dark chuckle come from the speakers, before a voice finally spoke "Well, well, well… it looks like we've got a human in town. I suppose it's only fair I show them how things go around here. Besides… they look like such a deletable little morsel."
"...did that guy just say...morsel?" Emerald gulped.
"He did yeah," Morphomon gulped as well. This...didn't bode well.
"So to all residents of my fair little town, you have nothing to fear. I've made my decision for this month's offering. Of course I'm sure you can all guess what it is now, no?"
The moment that was said, literally every Digimon in the area emerged and surrounded them with the kind of movements only fear could bring out.
Emerald frowned at that, quite familiar with what was going on, as she remembered her younger self acting out of fear and desperation many times growing up "Sorry, but I'm not gonna be an easy meal." she said, giving them a smirk, before focusing her semblance on a single brief image, that despite giving her a headache, she was able to apply to all the Digimon watching her and Morphomon, making them all look down as they saw her sink into the ground, while she instead used Thief's Respite to hook herself up onto a perch and escape their sight, Morphomon flying up with her at the same time.
"That was quick thinking." Morphomon told her in a hushed tone.
"Thanks." Emerald smirked despite the migraine she had right now from pulling that, before she looked up. The Castle was designed to be built around a central tower, with the town itself apparently in layers going up, the bottom layer being the marketplace "He's probably at the top of the tower."
"We're going to fight him?" Morphomon asked in surprise.
"Well… no choice if we want to get out of here." Emerald said with a shrug, earning a nod from her partner.
"Alright then," Morphomon nodded. "Though...with how things are, we'll probably have to try to find a way to sneak in. Think we can do it?"
"Sneaking into places? Please, that's Tuesday for me," Emerald chuckled.
Morphomon giggled a bit at that, before Emerald used Thief's Respite to swing to another area, keeping within the darkness of the high ceiling. She was actually grateful for the shutters, as they stopped any light from illuminating the area too much, meaning she had the perfect cover.
Still… looking down to the ground, she could see the various Digimon trying to hunt her down, making her frown a bit. The Digimon running this place was basically toying with them and giving them hope he wouldn't eat them.
Certainly a viable tactic in this kind of situation, but…
She wasn't one for it.
Reminded her a bit too much of some people that almost caught her when she was younger.
Slowly, to make sure she didn't accidentally alerted anyone to her position, she made her way to the stairs that would take her up to the next floor, breathing a sigh of relief that nobody had gotten smart enough to realise they should guard it as she lowered herself to the entrance to the stairs and started running up to the next floor.
"You know… this might be too easy." Morphomon frowned when they got to the top of the stairs, looking out the entrance into the second floor, which looked to be the residential district.
Emerald frowned at her words "You're right… gotta be ready for anything they might throw at us."
"Hopefully it's just him being overconfident since everyone is too afraid to try anything, but yeah. Keep our guards up," Morphomon nodded. The two of them continued onward, entering the residential district. Following Emerald's lead, they quickly got into a position that gave them cover and slowly moved through the residential district. Much like the lower areas, the Digimon in the area were clearly searching for them, not wanting to disappoint the mon in charge. "Whoever this mon is he's some piece of work," Morphomon muttered with a frown. "He has the whole town running scared just to please him."
Emerald nodded with a frown "If what he was saying earlier was literal… then he probably eats them whenever he starts to get hungry."
"Some Digimon do that yeah. They eat others to get stronger, but the way he said it… I think he takes ALL of their data when eating them." Morphomon frowned.
"They don't normally do that?" Emerald asked her.
Morphomon shook her head "No, they usually take just a portion of it and let the remaining data reconfigure back at the Primary Village, where all Digimon are born, but this one… I don't think he cares about that."
"Primary Village?" Emerald asked.
"Digimon don't really live and die the way humans do from what I understand. Be it from battle or old age, we normally break down into data...which will eventually be reformatted into a new Digimon. We functionally reincarnate each time we die," Morphomon explained. "The place we reincarnate is known as a Primary Village. But what this Digimon is doing...its denying even that. It's abominable," she shivered.
Emerald frowned at that, while she wouldn't openly admit it, she found herself agreeing with Morphomon. Even though she'd tried to kill people in the past, she always tried to aim for quick and painless, rather than disrespect them by drawing it out. The only exception would be… what she almost did to that Penny girl.
Looking back… maybe it really was a good thing that she'd been stopped.
Shaking her head, she steeled herself, before continuing onward, focusing on stopping the Digimon in charge.
Reaching the next set of stairs, there was, yet again, no one guarding it, but that just put her more on edge as she slowly lowered herself down before making her way up the stairs quickly.
From what she remembered when looking at the castle from the outside… the next layer would be the final one, with the tip of the central tower sitting in the middle of it.
Reaching the top of the stairs, she could confirm what she thought, as the final layer was actually the roof of the castle, meaning she was now outside.
That made her stop short as she realised she could just climb down the outside walls and leave right then and there.
But…
Looking to Morphomon, the little Digimon was psyching herself up for the upcoming fight, with Emerald looking down with a frown as she considered what to do, before ultimately shaking her head with a sigh.
She'd already made it this far, so… might as well go the extra mile.
The two of them soon entered the top of the castle. What they found turned out to be a bit...unexpected.
"It's...a communications room?" Emerald blinked.
"Well...it DOES kinda make sense how this mon has been keeping an eye on everyone," Morphomon frowned, the two of them surveying the room and noticing a large throne. A large empty throne at that. "They're...not here?" Morphomon blinked in surprise.
"Doubt it," Emerald frowned. "They wouldn't just run off when they have the whole city running scared," she said...before her senses went on alert, and she immediately dove for Morphomon, getting them both out of the way as a figure fell from the ceiling and landed right where they had just been. Both of them quickly got back on their feet and turned to their attacker.
It was a red and white furred wolf creature, a very thin one at that, but with a massive jaw full of razor sharp fangs, his limbs covered in leather sleeves while his paws had overly large purple claws "Fast one, aren't you?" the Digimon chuckled as he licked his chops hungrily.
"Careful, that's Fangmon." Morphomon told her in worry.
Digimon Analyzer: Fangmon
Fangmon. Data Type. An Adult Level Demon Beast Digimon. A Digimon who preys on the weak to devour them when they are at their most vulnerable, the data of the Big Bad Wolf from countless fairy tales that makes up his body makes him relentless when he's found a prey. His existence is considered heretical among other wolf and dog type Digimon, as many consider him a being of darkness. Special Attack is Blast Coffin, firing out a volley of dark flames from his mouth.
"So, you're the one who just eats everybody in town huh?" Emerald mused as she shifted her weapons back to gun mode.
"That's right. After all, I'm this town's savior, it's only right I get to do what I want." Fangmon chuckled darkly.
"What?!" Morphomon shouted incredulously "How can you be this town's savior if you're just treating everyone like a meal?!"
"If it weren't for me, there wouldn't be a town. I'm the one who drove those rampaging Digimon away, so it's only fair I get my reward," Fangmon smirked.
Emerald's grip on her weapon tightened at that "Oh you'll get your just deserts alright." she said with a frown, before firing at Fangmon, though annoyingly his claws were faster as he was able to use them to deflect her bullets.
"I'd heard you humans can be pretty tough. Perfect, because the strong ones always taste the best," Fangmon smirked.
"Don't think we're gonna make it easy for you," Morphomon frowned.
"By all means, please do so," Fangmon grinned and lunged forward. Both Emerald and Morphomon quickly got out of the way, Emerald shooting him as he passed, while Morphomon spread her scales. However, Fangmon suddenly pulled into a spin, causing the bullets to actually bounce off while the scales were blown off as well.
"This guy's gonna be tougher than Raremon," Emerald growled.
"Hah! You've seen nothing yet if the best you can compare me with is a Raremon!" Fangmon laughed. "Blast Coffin!" he called out, aiming at them as he opened his mouth and released blasts of dark fire aimed at them.
"Whoa!" Morphomon gasped as she and Emerald barely evaded the attack, to which Fangmon lunged for them again, this time he was faster and they were unable to evade...until Fangmon snapped at Morphomon and spat out violently as he found he'd ended up taking a bite of a chair.
"What the heck?!" he growled….before several shots rained down on him.
"Chew on that for a while!" Emerald smirked slightly. Fangmon snarled and fired at her again, but she continued to evade, while Morphomon took the opportunity to pepper him with some of her scales, hopefully slowing them down. What that got her was having to evade as Fangmon started opening fire on her next.
Even so the shift in focus wasn't wasted, as Emerald went on the offensive, firing shots at him, and even cutting down one of the large lights hanging in the room, narrowly crushing Fangmon.
"You two are REALLY getting on my nerves!" he snarled.
"That's the idea!" Morphomon shouted.
"And we're about to do more than get on your nerves!" Emerald shouted as she went after him with Thief's Respite in sickle mode. However…
"Gotcha! Snipe Steal!" Fangmon shouted, suddenly moving in a blur and suddenly Emerald found her weapons missing, Fangmon reappearing not far away, Thief's Respite held firmly in his jaws...to which said weapons went out the window soon enough. Literally.
Emerald's eyes widened at first, before they narrowed as she started to snarl angrily "You bastard!" she shouted in rage at how he just disrespected the only memento she had of her father, before trying to rush him just to punch that smug grin off his face.
Fangmon casually leaned out of the way, before slamming down with his claws, pinning Emerald to the ground.
"Emerald!" Morphomon shouted in alarm, only to get a Blast Coffin to the face, knocking her into a wall, leaving her to slide to the ground.
"Morphomon!" Emerald gasped before she felt Fangmon press down more.
"Now that that's been taken care of, dinner time," he smirked, opening his jaws wide, about to close them around Emerald's head as she looked on in fear at his gaping maw.
Morphomon groaned from the hit that wedged her into the wall a bit, before opening her eyes, only to gasp at the sight of Fangmon starting to close his mouth "EMERALD!" she shouted, right as Emerald's Digivice glowed brightly.
(Play 'Brave Heart')
The Digivice released a signal into the sky, which called forth a light that released a waterfall of data. The data descended and soon entered into Morphomon who was slowly rotating. "Morphomon, Evolution!" she called out as she spun faster and in a flash her form changed. She was now grown into a humanoid woman with a slightly curvaceous figure. Her thighs were exposed, with her legs below the knees covered in silver chitinous armor, a skirt in the shape of butterfly wings at her waist while her whole upper body was covered in more light armor that sported yellow highlights, a yellowish collar of fluff around her neck, the upper half of her head covered by a helmet with large yellow compound eyes, a pair of antennae above them while her mouth was exposed, strands of blue hair falling out the sides of the helmet and reaching her chest while a pair of large blue butterfly wings came out the pack of her head "Hudiemon!"
Just as Fangmon was about to snap his jaws shut, he was kicked right in his open mouth, shattering off a few teeth as he was sent flying into his throne, smashing it to pieces.
Emerald suddenly suck in a breath, only just now realising she'd stopped breathing in her fear earlier, before looking up at her savior "Morphomon…?"
She got a chuckle in return "Close, this is my Adult Level, Hudiemon."
Digimon Analyzer: Hudiemon
Hudiemon. Free Type. An Adult Level Insect Digimon. A Digimon that appears cautious at first, but once you get to know her and earn her trust, she will reveal her true cheerful nature. She travels all over the Digital World, dancing gratefully in well-lit places. Her special attack is Infinity Dream, flapping her wings to spread about her scales, which will cause paralyzing and poisonous effect to enemies, but also heal her allies.
"Seriously?! What is it with you two and messing up my evening?!" Fangmon roared.
"We'll do it as many times as we have to!" Hudiemon shot back.
Fangmon roared and fired a barrage of Blast Coffins. However, Hudiemon acted quickly, grabbing Emerald and holding her close, before she gracefully evaded every attack, looking almost like they were dancing around the attacks, and at the same time closing the gap, allowing Hudiemon to pull into a spin kick that knocked Fangmon away again. Quickly putting down Emerald (who looked a little dizzy from the impromptu dance), Hudiemon quickly focused on Fangmon, knowing she shouldn't prolong this. "This ends here! Infinity Dream!" Hudiemon called out, sending a whirlwind of her scales at Fangmon who couldn't evade and soon found himself unable to move...and worse, he was soon picked up off the ground. However, Hudiemon wasn't done and took to the air herself. "Flying Kick!" she called out, pulling into a flying side kick as she surged right towards Fangmon, the wind and scales swirling around her, seemingly increasing her momentum before she hit Fangmon dead on, sending him flying back, and smashing right through the wall. The force was strong enough that Fangmon could only manage one last shout as he was deleted in mid-air, all the data he'd consumed up till now also released.
(Song end)
"And that's that," Hudiemon sighed, landing on the ground and reverting to Morphomon, who sagged in exhaustion.
Emerald finally shook off her dizziness, before going to Morphomon, crouching down next to her "Hey… you alright?"
"I'm fine." Morphomon let out a sigh of relief, before looking to her and smiling "I'm just glad that YOU'RE safe."
The sincerity in her words shocked Emerald, making her blush a bit as she looked away "Well… I have you to thank for that, so, thanks."
Morphomon giggled at that, expecting nothing less from her partner.
Minutes later found the two at the gates of the town, Emerald having retrieved her weapons, with the two PawnChessmon at the gate on their knees in front of them "Thank you so much!" they said together.
"That bastard Fangmon threatened the lives of everyone in the town if we ever tried to speak up about what he does to travellers. We're sorry we couldn't warn you before hand!" BlackPawnChessmon said.
"Our shame is greater than anyone else's right now. Please, forgive how useless we were!" WhitePawnChessmon added.
Emerald sighed at their words, unable to muster up enough ire at them after taking it all out on Fangmon "Look, it's fine, just… make sure you don't let this happen again, alright. Maybe you guys should try to evolve so you can make sure nobody else can take advantage of you like that anymore." she suggested.
The two looked up at that, turning to each other, before nodding as they turned back to her "Very well! That is what we shall endeavor to do!" BlackPawnChessmon proclaimed.
"Should you ever return to Castle City, know that the next time you are here, we shall have evolved into the KnightChessmon we are meant to be!" WhitePawnChessmon added resolutely.
Emerald sighed, but she had the tiniest of smiles on her face "Noted. I guess… good luck then, and thanks for this." she said, holding up a backpack they had given her so she could carry her supplies, it even had a bit more space on the inside so it wouldn't be filled too quickly, and they'd let her stock up on plenty of other food beyond the meat she already had on her.
With that said, she and Morphomon soon left, ready to continue on their journey, hoping to find a lead towards Babamon soon.
And there you go!
Yeah, we're gonna try to alternate between the main story and Emerald's own side story, and Emerald's own story is gonna have some surprises that I'm positive nobody will see coming.
Either way, look forward to the next chapter, because...
The Adventure Evolves
