Rex-Mortuorum: Oh without a doubt. Trolling is very much in store for the little weirdo.

vincent moon: A scene with Blake and Adam's team? Soon.

WaxMan939: Yeah, I got a few people complaining about the lore segments and thought it was a majority, only to see it was very much not. Soooo, they stay!

A Dancing Leaf: Some people just want more of what they like. No stopping it.

As for Cyril? Whether or not he's a battle nut or was just venting, little of column A, little of column B. He's definitely discovering a like for the rush, but not to the levels of say, Ruby.

Anyumaaka: Oh, that's good! I was worried because I'm getting strong writer's block for her story.

Aaron Dawn: I was making a joke over how, for some reason, my fingers refused to spell the Latin word for chapters. Nothing malicious here. Just combined the words Chapters and Chimichangas as a joke.

Guest: That, is unlikely to ever happen. Though, I may make it a goofy bonus in the future.

Cyril Leon POV

.

Standard jacket, seventy Lien, runners shoes, eighty, jeans, fifty Lien.

I really missed the mark when it came to the Lien's currency.

"Ooh!" Ruby says as she runs up to me. "What about this!?"

She's holding up a pair of black jeans with red petal embroidery on the left thigh.

"For me, or you?" I ask with a smirk.

"Me of course!" She scoffs. "These are too small for you."

"Hey!" I say in mock offense. "I'll have you know I've been watching my figure."

Ruby stares at me unimpressed as she tilts her head. Before holding the jeans up to my legs and showing how it's not even the same length as my legs. Much less anything else.

"I'm sure I could still pull it off." I say with a smile.

"No you can't." Ruby says plainly. "I'm gonna try these on! Come on!"

She then grabs my arm and pulls me closer to the back of the store where the dressing rooms are.

"I thought we were here to find me clothes." I point out.

"And we are." Ruby says cheerfully. "Doesn't mean I can't get some stuff. Besides, I'll help you pick out some clothes as well."

This is starting to feel less like her showing me around. And more like her taking me out on a date.

"Alright, if you think we have time." I go along.

"Plenty!" Ruby says as she sits me down on a chair, next to a pile of clothes that she grabs. "Just sit still and wait!"

'We were here for twenty minutes.' I find myself remarking. 'How did she gather so many clothes?'

Might as well think on some more words as I wait.

"Done!" Ruby shouts behind the curtain.

Nevermind.

Though, I'm not too upset. Seeing as she walks out in a loose, frilly black top with red accents. The black jeans from before that are tighter than I realized, and a red beret.

"Well?" She says with a smile, pivoting from side to side to show off the outfit. "Think it looks good on me?"

"Um, yeah." I say, earning a bigger smile from her. "It's uh, really nice."

'Don't stare at the butt Cyril!' I yell at myself. 'The rubooty is real. You'd never guess with the combat skirt and loose pj bottoms.'

"Scale of one to ten!" Ruby demands with a smile as she turns from her side to her front to face me.

"Eight." I say as I stand up and walk forward.

"Hmm, what could it be missing then?" Ruby mutters as she steps back and checks herself in the mirror.

I reach forward and grab her beret, pulling it off and letting her wolf ears out.

"Ten." I say with a smile.

Ruby slowly looks to me, then to the beret in my hand, and then to the mirror where she stares at her ears. A blush as red as her namesake runs up her neck as her eyes widen.

"Sit back down!" She shouts, pushing me back and closing the curtain.

I find myself laughing at her embarrassment. I mean, how could I not?

"Stop laughing!" She shouts as I sit.

"Okay! Okay." I sigh as I get my laughter under control.

"Good." She says and opens the curtain.

Revealing herself in a red rib tank top and black skirt. Black leggings with crisscrossing red lines. No hat or hood this time.

"Well?" She says with a little less confidence than before.

"Nine out of ten." I say, and keep myself from laughing as she pulls out a hat from behind her, and puts it on. "Seven."

It's to be noted that the rest of her outfits had neither hat nor hoods. Except for a few jackets and hoodies. But she never put them up. Except for one that was made for Faunus and had those prop up spots for her ears to fit into.

I'm not an idiot, okay that's a lie. But unless this is a normal thing for two people to do here. Then this is a date. Ruby, asked me out on a date. And is fully committed to treating it like one.

Yeah, still processing that a bit. Not the date part, I got that. The Ruby asking me on a date part is what I find difficult to understand. Especially considering we've only known each other a week.

.

.

"How about this?" I ask as I step out of the changing room to the eager girl.

I'm wearing jeans and a loose, white button up. It's cheap and effective.

"If you've got nothing to do and nowhere to go, then I guess it's a good outfit to laze about in." Ruby says with a smile.

And she's ruthless.

"Different outfit, got it." I say as I close the curtain and change.

"How about this?" I ask as I step out in a black jacket and red shirt. Jeans and black sneakers.

This one earns a blush from her as she takes in the clothes.

"Um, I thought, blue and black, were your colors." She says.

Black and red was my preferred combination when it came to clothes. Blue was my favorite color , but I didn't look good in it. Made me look as generic as possible.

"I can't have other colors?" I ask jovially. "I think I pull off red and black rather well."

"Y-you do." She mutters with an awkward smile as she looks away from me. Her knees clamped together as she rubs her hands awkwardly. "I mean, you, look good in it. If that's what you want to wear, I have no, problems with it."

Her voice tapers off more and more towards the end. And I can only assume this is another cultural thing I don't understand. Though, with Ruby's reaction, it's not hard to guess it's a romantic thing. Though, this is working on a lot of assumptions.

.

.

"Why don't you get some night clothes?" Ruby suggests as I separate the clothes into what I'm getting, and what I'm not.

"Why?" I ask.

"So that you have something to sleep in?" She says plainly. "And so that Weiss stops throwing a fit while she pretends not to stare at you."

"You are weirdly perceptive sometimes, you know that?" I point out. "Like, the gaps in your perception don't add up."

"Says the boy with so little social awareness he calls a cat Faunus kitty when claiming he's not racist." She glares at me.

She's, got me there. Not my brightest I'll admit.

"In my defense, you were literally the first Faunus I'd ever seen in person." I tell her, hoping to get that info out there.

Hopefully it'll get to Blake without it coming off as an excuse.

"Wait, really?" Ruby says, her glare softening to a look of understanding. "That, makes a lot of sense. Huh. I just thought you were being a jerk to mess with her for being a jerk to you."

I mean, I was. But I'm not about to admit that.

"Nope, just dumb." I tell her with a smile.

"Agreed." She nods. "So, the night clothes?"

"I don't see the point." I say immediately. "Weiss's constant blushing and freak outs are honestly amusing."

"Okay, well." Ruby trails off, a light blush dusting her cheeks as she looks away. "What if, I didn't like it?"

'Aww, the cinnamon roll is jealous.' I note.

I, am going to tease the fuck out of this girl.

"I would ask why." I say with a smirk.

"And, if I said, I don't like how she ogles you?" Ruby almost whispers.

"Then I'd get a pair of sweats to use at night." I answer, watching as a small smile tugs at the edge of her lips.

"Well, that was a fun what if." I say casually as I gather my clothes.

"Wait what?" Ruby says.

"I mean, if all that was true. I'd look for some sweats." I shrug. "But like you said, it was just hypothetical."

"W-well whu, you just." She stammers. "It was real!"

I can't stop myself from laughing. See, this is the proper way to bully a Ruby.

"Hey, hey I was being serious okay!?" She says while shaking my arm.

"I know Ruby!" I say through my laughter. "I was messing with you."

It takes her a few seconds to register my words. And in that time I watch her go from desperate embarrassment, to frustrated embarrassment. It's a fun transition to watch her go from wide eyed, to pouty.

"You're a jerk." She huffs as she lets go of my arm to cross her own.

"It's your fault for being so adorable to tease." I counter. "Maybe if you weren't so cute I wouldn't mess with you so much."

Am I laying it on thick? Yes. But if you were seeing what I'm seeing, well. No man can resist temptation. I'm like, sixty percent sure that's a saying.

"Rrrrmmmm!" The screams as she pulls her hood down to cover her face, before disappearing in a burst of petals.

Maybe I took it too far.

Nah.

.

.

"That'll be five hundred and thirty two Lien for the boy." The lady says.

Handing her the cards and accepting my change, she gives a friendly smile as she bags our clothes.

"Now would you like to take these with you or would you like these delivered somewhere?" She asks.

"Delivered to the Beacon dormitories." Ruby answers.

"Wait, we don't know what the delivery fee is yet." I stop her.

"Beacon handles any and all delivery fees." Ruby says.

How do I not know about this stuff?

"Oh, neat." I say. "Then yeah, have them delivered to the Beacon dorms. Labeled Cyril and Ruby."

"Of course sir." She gives a smile and takes the bags. "You two have fun on your date!"

"Will do!" I say with a smile and a wave as we leave, earning a squeak from Ruby as I do.

"Everything all right?" I ask the hooded girl.

"You, didn't correct her." Ruby mumbles.

"Should I have?" I ask, causing her to tilt her head up to look me in the eyes. Before immediately looking forward once more.

"Mno itsh fmmm." She mutters.

"I'm sorry, what was that?" I say as I lean over and cup a hand to my ear. "My ears aren't as good as yours."

"I said let's check out the arcade!" She shouts and dashes off.

I watch her run off in a burst of petals and out of sight. Leaving me far behind. Sighing, I find a nearby bench and sit down.

She'll realize I have no clue where that is eventually.

Meanwhile, it gives me time to think. Mostly on if I want to date Ruby. Don't get me wrong, an adorable, hyperactive and dorky girlfriend is a dream come true for most men. I just can't wrap my head around it is all.

I know I resolved to just, stop questioning certain things here. But this one is a head scratcher.

Though, seeing as I'm not coming to any clear conclusions. I think I'll just ask her when we head back for Beacon. That seems like a good enough time.

.

Ruby Rose POV

.

This is nothing like the book!

Well, on my end at least. There's the butterflies and warm feelings I get that. But why isn't he acting all shy!? I thought both partners are supposed to be awkward around each other!

I need help!

Pulling out my scroll, I dial for Yang. She's had dates before, lots of them! She'll know what to do.

"Yo! Rubes, what's up?" Yang says. "You're off school today right? You miss big sis already? Wanna hang out?"

"Um, no, well, yes but no, to the uh, other, hang on." I say as I get my thoughts in order. "Okay! You there?"

"No, I'm in Atlas." Yang says dryly.

"Wait, really?" I ask.

When she'd go to Atlas? Why didn't she tell me? Why'd she go to Atlas?

"Ruby, I'm kidding." Yang says in the same tone. "I'm on my smoke break at the shop. What's got you so, you more than usual?"

'What is that suppose to mean!?' I think to myself. 'No! Not important, for now.'

"Yang you don't smoke." I point out the immediate concern.

"My boss doesn't know that." She says.

'Fair enough I suppose.' I think to myself.

"Well, you know about my partner right?" I ask, getting back on track.

"Cranky weird guy with the axes?" Yang asks. "Likes messing with people?"

"Yeah that one." I answer. "Well, we're on a date and I don't know what I'm doing! He keeps saying things and I keep not saying and I need help!"

I wait for an answer, and wait. And-

"Are you still there?" I ask, hoping the connection didn't break.

"Yeah, I'm still here." Yang says. "Is he hot?"

"Eh, eight out of ten." I answer. "Why? Is that important?"

"Just curious." Yang says. "Well, what is he saying, and what are you not saying?"

"He keeps calling me cute and messing with me!" I tell her. "And he keeps saying it in ways that I can't think to say anything back and I just wanna hit him!"

"Yeah that sounds about right." Yang says. "My breaks about over so, just hang in there! And relax, if he's a jerk just punch him in the face and if he's not, just chill out."

The call ends with a click and I sigh in defeat. Not knowing what I should've expected. Yang's been on many dates, but hasn't had any boyfriends as far as I'm aware.

"Thanks sis." I say sarcastically. "See if you get that fire dust engine converter for your birthday."

Okay, useless sisters and their useless advice aside. Who do I have.

"Okay, mom? No she's in Anima, dad? No he'd never stop talking about it." I say as I pace in circles. "Uncle Qrow? No no no no."

It is now that I realize, I am on my own. This is what I get for not listening when dad told me to make friends.

"Okay, okay." I tell myself to calm down. "You're Ruby Rose! You got into Beacon at fifteen! You built one of the most sophisticated and customizable weapons on Remnant and you're awesome! You can do this!"

"Mommy why is that weird girl talking to herself?" A little girl asks while pointing at me.

"April don't point!"

Looking around, I see I'm still on the sidewalk, and everyone is walking around me.

What is wrong with me!?

.

Cyril Leon POV

.

"Aaaannny moment now."

.

.

-5 minutes later-

.

.

"I'm so so so so sorry!" Ruby frets. "I was sure you were following me and I didn't-"

"Ruby, you're fine." I say but she keeps going.

"-realize I used my semblance so I waited a bit after I called, well it's not important who I called, but I waited and then I realized I was further down the street and-" She stops to take a breath.

"Ruby you're fine." I say as I put a hand on her hooded head to gain her attention.

"I'm, I just-" She stutters and mumbles off. "You're not mad?"

God, how do you get to be this adorable. And not have people crusading in your name?

"If I was mad, I would've left for Beacon." I tell her.

That's a lie. If I was mad I would've gotten some food without her and then left for Beacon. But, eh, details.

"That's good." She says, slightly calmer now.

"Now come on." I say as I rub her head. "Where's that arcade?"

.

.

-Bink's Arcadium-

.

.

"What's an arcadium?" I ask.

"It was opened a long time ago and words like that were cool." Ruby says. "About forty years ago I think. People liked naming things to sound foreign."

Neat. I'd make the argument that forty years isn't a long time, but just look at 80's fashion back on earth. And compare it to the 50's.

"Now come on!" Ruby says as she pulls me into the arcade.

Ruby drags me along and goes through most of the ticket buying process. One hundred Lien for a game card. Each attraction and game is one ticket, and you get one try to earn as many points on your game card at each game.

So, it's just an arcade without the hassle of keeping track of all the tickets you win.

"Cyril!" Ruby says as she drags me along. "This way! I want you to try the punching machine!"

I'm honestly surprised no one's stopped me. Seeing as I have weapons on my hips. And they're clearly visible.

I guess this is just, another cultural thing.

Ruby takes me to a machine that has a soft plastic plush of a Beowolf's bone mask. Glowing red lights around the machine as they swirl into the center. A digital screen above the mask saying, Kill the Grimm!

"Alright, I'll bite." I shrug as I tear off a ticket.

"You're suppose to punch it." Ruby corrects.

I stop as I'm about to put the ticket in the machine. Turning to look at her curiously, she tilts her head and does the same.

"What?" She asks.

"Nothing." I shake my head and insert the ticket.

"Knock'em out!" The machine says as the platform below it lights up.

I rear up and throw a full body cross punch, putting my shoulder into it and everything.

The machine goes off with a low pitched ding, the lights blinking blue as I step back.

I look up at the screen and watch as a blacked stickman punches a chibi beowolf back, the wolf flying back and laying down with X's over it's eyes.

(856)

"Great job Hunter!" The machine says.

"Huh." I say to myself.

Wish I knew what my score was back on earth. Though, either they don't use pounds of force, or there's some bullshittery going on because it places me at fifty eighth out on the score board.

The highscore being above three thousand.

"Awesome!" Ruby cheers behind me as the machine turns my score into eighty five points.

"Alright." I say with a smile as I turn to her. "Your turn."

Her cheerfulness get's replaced with an awkward shuffle at my suggestion.

"Oh, I don't know." She says as she puts an arm behind her back. "I wouldn't want to steal your thunder or anything! Why don't we uh, check out the air hockey table or something?"

"No, I insist." I say as I tear off a ticket and insert it into the machine.

"Knock'em out!" The maxhine says once again.

" Fine." Ruby pouts with sigh as she walks onto the platform and gives a punch.

(87)

The digital screen shows a small chibi dog barking at the Grimm before throwing itself at it, and bouncing off.

"Keep training!" The machine mocks.

"I am in training!" Ruby shouts at the screen while I keep myself from laughing. "You stupid machine! What do you know about killing Grimm!"

It's at that point that I start laughing.

.

.

After spending about two hours at the arcade, I learned that Ruby is a very animated person. Pouting at every loss and preening at every win. She gets over these moods quickly enough though, so I wouldn't call her a sore loser or sore winner.

Now we're at a café, ordering our lunch. A small Beowolf plushie sticking its head out of Ruby's purse that we won together. Yeah, two hundred Lien and a thousand points, and the best we could get was a Grimm plush about as big as a vase.

Arcades are scams even here.

"And I'll uh, have the club sandwich with no lettuce." Ruby says.

"Soup of the day is fine with me." I say as the waiter takes our orders.

"Of course, and your drinks?" The waiter asks.

"Milk." Ruby says.

"Black Cherry Soda." I answer, surprised to see it's a thing here.

He gives us a nod and walks off after writing our stuff down.

Looking back to my date, who is currently staring at the table, her hood concealing her eyes from view. Though the few times her head moves, I can see she's staring at me.

"So." I break the silence, causing the top of her hood to jerk as her ears perk. "I gotta say, I'm curious as to why you asked me out. Care to share?"

She looks away from me as she fiddles with her hands awkwardly. Mumbling and muttering something under her breath.

"I, didn't catch that." I say as I rest my head in my hand.

"Well, you're my partner." She mutters out. "And, I figured this would, be a good way to get, closer. As partners."

"Partners, is that it?" I ask as I smile at her shyness.

"Well, f-for now at least." She mutters softly. "And, well, we-"

She jumps in her chair as a scroll starts going off. Checking my pocket, I see it isn't mine, and look up to see Ruby nearly drop hers.

"S-sorry!" She squeaks out an apology as she checks the caller I.D. "I need to take this real quick!"

"I'm not going anywhere." I offer with a smile.

She offers an awkward smile before answering her phone. I expected her to get up and walk away to have some privacy. But, she's leaning over the side of the table, whispering into her phone.

"Now… you… here?" I hear her whisper.

"No… I'm… right here!"

It'll never not be awkward hearing a third of half a conversation.

"Look… I… later." She finally says before popping back up as she collapses the scroll. "Sorry about that! My sister was just, checking up on me. At the worst time." She mutters that last bit at the end.

"You're fine." I give a chuckle. "Besides, I was gonna ask about your family anyway. I've met your father, what about your mother or sister? Any aunts or uncles?"

"Oh, well, my dad is my mom's wife." Ruby says awkwardly. "And, well, my sister is my dad's daughter."

"That is how families tend to work." I remark lightheartedly.

"I'm sorry." She mumbles as she tugs her hood over her eyes more.

"You're fine Ruby." I reassure the cinnamon roll. "Just, take a breath, and take your time."

She does so, letting go of her hood and taking a deep breath that straightens her back to ease her nerves. Before exhaling and peeking up at me through her hood.

"Well, dad is partially retired." Ruby starts. "He teaches and, takes the occasional local mission when available. Mom is on the Guild's council as one of their elite Huntresses and gets called on missions every now and then. My sister, Yang, she's a mechanic for the general goods merchant on Patch. Fixing any machines for a fee and just, living life."

"Is she not a huntress in training as well?" I ask, curious as to this divergence.

"No." Ruby says with a shake of her head. "She has some training and has her aura and semblances. But, she wants to be an auto mechanic in Vale. She's saving up to move here."

'Huh, that's, interesting.' I think to myself as our food and drinks arrive.

"Thank you." I nod to the man, who nods in return and leaves us.

"What about, your, nevermind." She says quickly. "What do you plan on doing in the future?"

"Hmm, you know." I start to trail off. "Never really, put much thought into it I guess. Before I was, just gonna live my life. Get a job, meet a girl, have kids, go fishing when I could. I was just, gonna go where life took me I suppose. Never really had a plan before. Guess, that hasn't really changed."

It's true. I, never planned anything. I was gonna go to community college and, I guess I just kept putting off making any commitment to anything. I was so spoiled for choice, that I couldn't bring myself to choose.

"Well, that's not so bad." Ruby says. "It's, not a bad thing to be happy with where you are."

But I wasn't happy. Or, I didn't think I was. Now, I might as well be dead to my family for all I or they know. Hell, the worst part is I don't know. Did the brothers erase me? Kill off my old body? Leave a clone in my place?

I don't, know. And, I don't suppose I ever will. And, I need to stop thinking about this.

"What about you?" I ask Ruby to take my mind off of, that.

"What about me?" She asks.

"What are your plans?" I ask.

"Oh!" She perks up. "Well, I, want to be a Huntress, obviously. And, I want to travel around. See the world and its people. Save people and, maybe settle down, have a, kid or two." She starts muttering towards the end.

"Well, it sounds like you have things more figured out than I do." I chuckle.

"It's okay Cyril." Ruby speaks up. "You have time to figure out what you want. And, well, you'll have a team to help you until you do!"

I smile at her optimism. Taking a sip of my soda, I look her in the eye.

"And my partner as well?" I ask, causing her to tilt her head down shyly and hide her eyes as she blushes.

"W-well yeah." She mutters as she starts to munch on her sandwich. "I'm part of your team too."

This girl is too cute.

.

.

-Bullhead to Beacon, 1:20pm-

.

.

"Thanks for taking me out Ruby." I tell the girl next to me. "I had a lot of fun."

"Mrrm." She gives a noncommittal hum before scooching closer to me. "You know, Vale is, a big city."

"So I've seen." I say as she scooches closer again.

"I-it's a good thing, I-I, I know a lot of it." She says, scooching closer, now right next to me, pressing against my side. "And, we're so close. To the city! I mean."

I say nothing and let her calm herself.

"I, i-if you'd, if you ever, what I mean is." She starts fumbling harder as she stares at her twiddling thumbs. "The city and, being so close to it and how I'm, and what I'm saying is, well I wanted to know, maybe."

"Ruby." I cut her off, causing her to flinch against me. "Would you like to do this again sometime? Go out on a date with me?"

I swear I hear her brain shorting out as she squirms next to me. She doesn't say anything, rather just nods her head as I imagine her face being redder than her hood.

This was a nice distraction.

But of course, all good things come to an end.

.

.

-Beacon, Ozpin's office, 2pm-

.

.

"And now Councilor Winchester is on his way over to handle the situation personally!" Glynda rants as she marches back and forth behind Ozpin's desk.

The spoiled little brat ran crying to daddy. Turns out Cardin's daddy has a seat on the council that runs Vale.

Because of fucking course he does.

Remnant Culture: Hunters, the unofficial caste

.

Hunter's the protectors of our future! Valiant, brave, and self sacrificing. They live a short and hardship filled, glorious life so that we may hope to see longer, peaceful ones.

However, being a Hunter is no easy feat. No, in truth, becoming a Hunter, is as harsh and unforgiving as being a Hunter. For to be a Hunter, you must face every harsh reality this world has to offer, and bear it with the will to keep going on. And even then, there's the matter of training, and equipment!

Unlocking your aura is not something one does freely or without consequence. Everyone knows the sacrificing nature of the Silver Eyed Warriors and how they draw the Grimm away from others. But, aura does the same, just not nearly as much. Negative emotion attracts the Grimm like a moth to a candle, Aura, does so like a lantern. It is why unlocking aura, is a closely guarded act. It is also one of the reasons the Academies are kept in the locations they are. Beacon on a plateau safe from the city. Haven deep in the center of Mistral where they're far enough to not attract the Grimm. Shade on an island in the middle of an oasis, Atlas academy on the floating city itself and Menagerie's academy, Shelter, is built on the rocky outcropping's of a coral reef.

Every citizen with aura, is registered. And of the registered citizens, 98% are capable of fighting the Grimm they attract. So if someone has aura and isn't a Hunter, it is of no concern.

Now, this brings to what many sociologists refer to as, the unofficial caste of the modern day.

Preparatory combat schools are expensive. On average running the cost of 90,000 lien a year. Equipment is costly as well, with cheap, effective armaments being as low 500 lien, a good mechashift weapon can cost as much as a house. It is why many Hunters have at least a basic understanding of smithing. Then there is the hidden cost of supplies. Ammunition and food, as well as travel. Travel expenses are discounted for active hunters of course, but it is still something to note.

Coupled with the steep competitive field that is the life of a Hunter, and you see a bit of separation from most civilians.

Add on to this the specialized training Hunter children receive from their parents, and the added assistance afforded to the rearing of said children. Not to mention the accumulated wealth that experienced Hunter's get. It is far easier for a Hunter to train their child to follow after them, than it is for any other individual to become a Hunter.

There are of course exceptions to this. Grants and scholarships, many individuals from the outskirts manage to acquire the skills of a hunter and earn themselves the materials to craft their own gear. As well, wealthier families hoping to earn the veneration of the public, will often go to lengths to ensure their children become Hunters.

Cost, experience, training, resources, talent and even place of birth all factor into a child's likeliness of successfully becoming a Hunter, should that be what they desire. It is no surprise that with these limiting factors, a Hunter is less of a profession to learn, and more of a trade that is passed on or earned. This separation is further exasperated by the sheer difference in lifestyles.

The average Hunter may live to 32, have two or three children, and the odds of those children being from the same partner are, dubious and depending on several factors. They will travel to at least two continents, three kingdoms, one hundred and fifty three villages, and earn up to a low estimate of 50,000,000 Lien in their lifetime.

The average citizen in the city may live to 60, have four to six children, marry once, or sometimes twice should the couple separate. They may live their entire lives in the city, and have an accumulated wealth of anywhere between 130,000 Lien in their life, or 100,000,000 Lien depending on their role.

A citizen of the outskirts may live to be in their 40's. Have anywhere between 5 to 15 children, marry once, will travel to other villages an indeterminate amount of times, and travel to the city maybe ten times in their life. Having accumulated 30,000 Lien in their lifetime.

Yes, Remnant is harsh and unforgiving. Those who are born in safety, never leave it. Those born outside of it, will rarely see it. And those born to Hunters, are destined to run from safety, to make room for others.

I had a lot I wanted to add, but felt it would be cluttered and best saved for later.

Now to just break the news to Weiss and Blake!

Wonder how they'll react.

The reason Weiss is so set on dating Cyril is twofold. One, he has no political connections, while being a Silver Eyed Warrior. Silver Eyed clans have some political weight, though it is hardly ever used. If she were to date say, Ruby? People back at Atlas could claim she's trying to gain a foothold in Vale's political scene, even though Ruby is only loosely involved in politics. Being her mother is one of the elite Hunters of the Guild. It'd be a minor scandal, but a scandal that has the potential to pull her back to Atlas.

Cyril? No such issue. And, since he has Silver eyes, there's no claiming he's not good enough for her. Because anyone claiming a Silver Eyed Warrior isn't good enough, is a scandal in and of itself.

And the longer she goes without doing anything, the higher the risk of her father setting an arranged marriage becomes.

The second reason, is she's a little weirdo closet pervert. And Cyril's attention, is actually fueling it.
