A/N Cat got your tongue

Alt title: nothing, I'm proud enough of the first one as is

.

.

Resurrection99: I love it too!

Attttth: There was, in chapter 3. Summer mentioned Teams get, very close.

The horniness is mostly confined to Weiss and whenever Ruby reads the book she stole from Blake. Other than that, it's slice of life. But it is 4 teenagers living in a dorm together. It's gonna get horny.

As for the poly? Unlikely to be heavy handed.

Samejake: I think you're giving me too much credit.

Rex-Mortuorum: Gotcha! Anyway, I'm fairly certain people are not expecting the talk to go the way it does.

Aaron Dawn: As of right now, Ruby is trying to see if Cyril is right for her, if a future is feasible. Blake, has issues I won't spoil. And Weiss is just horny while also looking at Cyril as a valuable political piece. She would not be nearly as interested in dating him if he didn't have silver eyes and no clan attachment. Any real relationship, will likely be solely between Ruby and Cyril.

GideonBlackthorn: Last chapter was so good, I'm honestly afraid I'll be unable to match it.

The dancing leaf: Ah, politics. I remember when a live debate over the funding of schools in America, was derailed because one of the senators called the lady arguing for more funding, a boochie ass ghetto bitch.

I'm paraphrasing a real event so as to not actually reference real events. But that is essentially what happened. As for the world building, it just, flows for me. I look at one thing, and my mind comes up with a hundred explanations and then narrows it down to what makes most sense with all given info.

To be fair to Kitsu, the early chapters were between 4-5k words. Like this. Now, I keep a standard of 8-10k for Kitsu. That, and you've seen how I right, my proofreading takes hours.

WaxMan939: I do in fact write these and translate them from my borderline ancient runic chicken scratch.

Herws a god evxapme of snr wirting without out cheixmng.

"Here's a good example of me writing without checking."

BunkerfreakHD: Why are so many people addicted to this!?

MoinLeute: That was the joke, yes.

Cyril Leon POV

.

"Take a seat." Tai says as he closes the door.

Doing so, I take a seat at one of the four chairs stationed at the front of his desk. The room is nice and homey enough. Deep red carpet, brown walls, forest green curtains.

"So, are you going to tell me why you brought me in here?" I ask slightly nervous.

"I think you know why." He says as he takes the seat behind his desk. "So, Ruby huh?"

See, I would not care nearly as much if I didn't have to see this guy on a daily basis! That, and unlike Whinechester, he has the ability, and probably the will, to make my life difficult.

"Yes, she is my partner and teammate." I say after an awkward silence.

"What are your intentions?" He asks with a flat glare.

"Um, in, what regard?" I ask.

"Gonna date her?" He asks with a raised brow.

"We, agreed to another date." I say honestly.

"Gonna get her pregnant?" He asks.

"What!?" I reel back a bit. "No!"

"Not even if she wants you to?" He asks with a raised brow as he leans back in his chair.

"I, don't think this is an appropriate topic." I say awkwardly.

Tai stares me down, and I feel the tension getting thicker as time goes on.

"You weren't this nervous with Councilor Winchester." Tai points out as he pulls out his scroll to check something. "What's got ya so uptight kid?"

'Is it not obvious?' I think to myself.

This guy is the father of the girl I just went on a date with. And, unlike, ninety percent of shovel talks from dads, I'm pretty sure this one could back up his claim.

"You, have actual power over me." I answer honestly.

In more ways than one. Again, I don't even think he'd need a shovel. Guy could probably pummel me into a red mist.

"Hmm, alright!" He says casually, shifting in tone immediately. "Good enough for me."

Wait what?

"Huh?" Is all I get out in my confusion.

"Hmm?" Tai hums as he looks back to me, before he starts laughing. "Oh, oh you're, you're from a civilian family aren't you?"

'What the fuck does that have to do with anything?' I find myself asking.

"Yeah?" I answer the man.

"Okay, okay." Tai says as he calms down, a hand to his chest as he takes a breath. "That, explains a bit. Whooo, okay. Look, I don't care that you're dating my daughter so long as you make her happy. We're Hunters, our lives are often too short to get hung up on small things like paternal pride."

That's, not what I was expecting.

"Really?" I ask. "I'd thought you'd be upset."

"Upset?" Tai scoffs, before bobbing his head a bit. "Okay a little bit. But I'm just glad Ruby is actually looking to date someone. Quick question though, how old do people in your family usually get?"

"Um, well, my uncle died of cancer at forty seven, but he married into the family so-" I begin to explain.

"Blood relatives." He clarifies.

"Oh, youngest person to die of natural causes was, my grandma at seventy six." I answer, seeing his eyes widen. "Why does this-"

"Oldest person to die?" He asks, cutting me off.

"My, great great great grandma, I met her once before she died at a hundred and eight." I answer.

Yeah, my mother's side is cursed with longevity. Hell, my great great great grandma was very vocal about how she was waiting for death. She had outlived everyone. Her siblings, cousins, husband, children, and most of her grandchildren. I met her, and she cursed my mother out for having kids and making her feel old.

"Well, I have no issues with you dating Ruby." He says easily. "Heck, if anything I'm proud she's finally coming out of her shell."

"Um, okay?" I say before gesturing back and forth between us. "Then what was, all this?"

Seriously, he went from godfather to fishing buddy in less than a second!

"Wanted to see if you'd lie to me." He shrugs. "Other than that, I'm messing with Ruby."

"How?" I ask.

He pulls his scroll out and slides it across the desk. Picking it up, I see the camera feed from the end of the hall. Ruby and Weiss are up against the door to one of the rooms, their ears pressed against the surface.

Tai reaches over the desk and presses a red button on the screen, the little rec sign now blinking in the corner to show it's recording.

He then opens a drawer on his desk. Pulling out a ball, he then throws it at the door. And I watch as Ruby and Weiss freak out once the ball hits. Weiss jumping back and standing straight at attention, dusting her dress off while Ruby disappears in a burst of petals.

Tai then takes the scroll back as he sits back down.

"Room's sound proof." Tai says with a grin. "Ruby thinks I'm about to do to you what I did to her sister's last three boyfriends."

"What did you do to them?" I ask.

"Challenged them to a fight." He shrugs. "Needed to make sure they were willing to protect my baby girl."

"You're not, going to challenge me to a fight?" I ask, still confused.

"Want me to?" He smirks. "I mean, I'm down to put you down if you want. No, in all seriousness you already earned a bit of good will with me. For the cafeteria, and the office. Hell, the disrespect you put on Winchester's kid with fighting him while he's unarmed? Damn kid, savage."

I really need to figure out what that means. Like, is it an honor thing? A legal thing?

"Yeah, what's that about?" I ask.

"What?" He asks, looking to me curiously.

"The whole, fighting him unarmed thing." I clarify. "Why's that such a big deal?"

Tai stares at me, blinking a few times before sitting up and putting his arms on the desk with a huff.

"Wow, um. Okay." He says. "It's a cultural thing, and an old one at that. Long story short? It goes back to a time when the saying, every man should be allowed to defend himself, kay? Well, this, didn't apply to two groups. Slaves, and violent criminals. By fighting him with weapons while he was unarmed, you basically told him that you don't consider him to be a person, you consider him to be the lowest rung of society. And for you to do that to a hunter in training? You just told him through actions that you don't consider him worthy of being here at Beacon. And, coming from someone with Silver Eyes. Yeah, you might have socially killed the kid."

That, is a lot to process.

"Huh, still would've done it." I tell him.

"I'm signing you up for remedial culture studies." Tai says seriously. "If you don't know that. Well, I'd rather not assume anything."

'That's fair.' I think to myself.

Still though, all things considered, this is going a lot better than I expected.

"You know, I was prepared for a whole, you hurt my daughter I'll kill you, speech." I say as I sit back. "Gotta say, this is a pleasant surprise."

"I trust you have a better sense of self preservation than that." Tai glares at me.

'Bold of you to assume so.' I think but don't dare speak.

.

.

-5 minutes later-

.

.

Stepping out of the room and into the hall. I do my best to look as shellshocked as possible for the audience of Weiss.

"Good talk kid." Tai says as he pats me on the back. "And remember what we talked about, got it?"

"Y-yes sir." I say shakily.

"Good man." He says and pats me on the back before heading back into his office.

Weiss looks to me, wide eyed with concern as the door behind me closes.

"Cyril, are you okay?" Weiss asks.

"Y-yeah." I say with a forced smile. "I-I'm fine. We uh, just had a, talk is all."

Weiss awkwardly shuffles in place as she darts her eyes around.

"So um, quick question." Weiss starts. "Did-"

"Cyril!" Ruby shouts as she appears from practically out of nowhere to my side. "Are you okay!? Are we still, did you get expelled? You're not rethinking or, what happened?"

Turning to the hyperactive Faun, I get to one knee and enact the plan.

"Ms. Rose I solemnly swear to never hurt you or harm your feelings in any way so long as we are partners and hopefully more!" I say loudly, forcing a blush to her face.

"C-Cyril, I, you, me I, we just, and, you and my dad were, what happened!" She squeals as she covers her face with her hood and runs off. "You can talk at the dorm!"

Watching her run off, I hold my laughter back just enough to be sure she's out of earshot. Then, it just comes out in full.

Ruby, is horribly shy. Doubly so in public settings.

"You did that to mess with her, didn't you?" Weiss asks.

"Ha, yeah." I admit as I stand up. "In my defense, her dad put me up to it."

Weiss stares at her feet in thought at my statement. Before looking back up to me with slight worry.

"So, you're not in trouble?" She asks.

"Not as far as I'm aware." I say as I rest my hands in my pockets.

"Ah, that's good." She smiles. "It'd be a shame to lose you from our team."

She turns on her heels and begins to follow after Ruby. Heading towards our dorm. Then I get the urge to mess with her.

"Yeah, I just got a whole new wardrobe too." I say as I begin to follow her. "It'd suck for you to lose the chance to steal my new clothes."

I laugh as she nearly trips over her own feet. Before she walks faster, pretending to have not heard me.

Wonder what she'll do when she learns I'm starting to date Ruby. Steal her clothes as well?

Probably.

.

.

-Halls outside SLBR Dorm, 3:40pm-

.

.

Following behind Weiss to the dorm, I notice her flinch slightly as we turn a corner.

"Something wrong?" I ask.

"Um, sounds like the team across from us is, having issues." Weiss says. "It's not our business."

'Team PRJN is having issues? What for?' I think to myself.

Though I don't have to wonder too much. Seeing as I hear them as we get closer.

"Nora, just, calm down." I hear Ren say.

"NEVER!" I hear Nora shout manically before another crash is heard, causing both me and Weiss to flinch.

"Who gave her an energy drink?!" Jaune shouts hysterically.

"I'm sorry!" Pyrrha shouts over the noise.

"Yeah, they got it covered." I say as Weiss opens our dorm.

"Agreed." Weiss says quickly as I close the door behind.

Looking over just in time to see Ruby shove something under her pillow. She looks to us with a blush before an awkward smile makes its way across her face.

"Hey!" She waves as she sits up.

"Hey." I wave back as she jumps up and moves to stand in front of me.

"Ehem." She coughs into her fist before addressing me. "Cyril, as your, your partner, on this team! I, would like, I, demand a hug!"

She opens her arms wide, clenching her eyes shut as her face heats up.

Rolling my eyes, I lean down and hug the girl. Stifling a chuckle as she squeaks when I wrap my arms around her, she wraps hers around me. Seemingly trying to squeeze the life out of me in the process. But, well, it's Ruby.

Separating from her, she looks to Weiss and sticks her tongue out at her.

"That proves nothing." Weiss says before walking to her bed.

'And I am once again, left unaware as to what is going on.' I think to myself.

"What!" Ruby shrieks. "But we just, and the, you, dybdi ba! PROOF!"

"A hug just proves you're friends." Weiss says as she turns around to face us, a small blush on her face. "I've no doubt Cyril would acquiesce a hug from me as easily as you should I desire so."

Ruby gets notably frustrated at that. And I'm starting to think I'm being used in some sort of rivalry here. And, I could figure it out, but I'm too tired to care.

Future Cyril's problem.

"Cyril!" Ruby looks to me.

"Nope." I say and throw my hands up. "I'm not here. My social battery is drained for the day. You need me, I'll be getting a bath and going to bed."

I then head to the bathroom, and just before I open it.

"And no, that's not an invitation." I clarify for the resident underwear thief.

.

.

-15 minutes later-

.

.

Stepping out from my soak in just a towel, having forgotten my clothes. I notice Ruby and Weiss arguing.

Not getting involved with-

"Cyril!" Ruby calls out.

Shit.

"Mara's compassion Ruby." I sigh tiredly. "Yes?"

Weiss starts stammering and covering her eyes as she turns around. To face the mirror on her dresser and peek through her eyes.

"Mara?" Ruby tilts her head.

"A different god." I wave my hand. "What do you need?"

"Um, oh!" She perks back up. "Blake's been missing all day and we don't know where she is."

"Explains the headache I currently don't have right now." I comment.

"Cyril!" Ruby glares, though it just comes off as a pout. "We need to find her!"

"Why?" I ask.

"She's our teammate!" Ruby says. "And as her team, it's our job to make sure she's safe and okay."

'I'm not getting out of this am I?' I think to myself.

"Alright, just, let me get dressed?" I ask.

"Hmm?" Ruby hums before looking me up and down. "Oh, right. Sorry." She says sheepishly.

About five minutes later after putting some clothes on. Basically some jeans and a black undershirt because I'm too tired to care.

"Alright, what's going on?" I ask as I put my belt holster on.

"We haven't seen Blake since this morning." Weiss answers. "She sort of, woke up and left."

'This is getting old, fast.' I think irritably.

"Have either of you talked to Adam?" I ask the obvious question.

"Who's Adam?" Ruby asks.

"Blake's, boyfriend? Best friend? Friend with benefits?" I shrug. "Not sure. Weiss, what about you?"

"I, haven't left the room for most of the day." She admits sheepishly.

"And here I thought I was the lazy one." I breathe out.

"Hey!" Weiss challenges. "I was sick!"

"Seem fine now." I point out. "Weiss's laziness aside, Ruby talk to your dad, he has access to the school cameras. Weiss, check in with Adam. If anyone knows where she is it'd be him."

"Um, what about you?" Ruby asks.

" I'm going to take a walk around the plateau and the cliffs." I say.

"But that-" Weiss starts.

"Is the least likely place to find her. I know." I cut her off. "You really think if I find her, she'll come back?"

This is just my token effort. If they find her, they do. If they don't, well, what's the policy on teams again?

"He, has a point." Ruby says.

Weiss looks between the two of us and sighs. Her ears splaying back and her shoulders going slack as she relents without a fight.

"Fine." Weiss says.

Weiss Schnee POV

.

'I swear, when I imagined being put on a team. The last thing I imagined was playing babysitter and round up.' I think to my myself as I knock on the door.

"I swear to the heavens Adam, if that's her." I hear another girl say.

"Just, I got it okay?" I hear Adam's voice before the door opens.

'Why is everyone here an exhibitionist!?' I bemoan as the door opens and I'm face to bare, chiseled chest with the bull Faunus.

I mean, has he no decency? Or, maybe he does and I interrupted a moment between him and the girl? No he was bare chested at breakfast the other day too!

"Hello!?" I'm brought out of my thoughts as a hand is waved in my face by the tall, dark and chiseled man.

"Um, oh! Um, yes, ehem!" I compose myself. "I'm looking, looking." My eyes are drawn to his chest before I snap back out of it. "I'm looking for my partner, Blake. Have, you seen her?"

Adam sighs as he rests his forehead against his forearm on the doorframe. Almost, posing and showing off-

'NO!' I yell at myself. 'Focus!'

My eyes drift to his chest as-

'On what he's saying!' I yell at myself. 'You're better than this! Show some class!'

"My apologies." I say as he finishes talking. "It's been a long day and I've not had much rest. Could you, repeat that?"

"I said, if she isn't at your dorm. You can check the library, or anywhere quiet and secluded." Adam says.

'Quiet, and secluded.' I think to myself. 'Where would, oh, oh no.'

"Like, the cliffs on the edge of Beacon?" I ask with a bit of a sinking feeling.

"No, I don't think she'd go that far." He says before adding. "I hope. Honestly if she doesn't want to be found, you can check the roofs."

"The roofs?" I ask curiously.

.

.

-Cafeteria Roof, 5:30pm-

.

.

"Honestly! The lengths I go to for this team!" I vent as I climb the access ladder. "This better not ruin my dress."

It's hot, humid, and the sun is still up! Why? In Atlas it'd be the end of sunset already!

Making my way to the top, I let out a huff as I rest my chest on the roof. Opening my eyes, I spot the black and purple covered Menagerian.

"Blake!" I call out as I climb up. "Do you know, just how long we've been searching for you?!"

"We?" She says in a whisper.

"Me, Ruby, and Cyril." I say with a huff as I start walking towards her.

"Cyril isn't looking for me." Blake snides.

"Blake, I know you may not, get along with him." I say as I stop behind her. "But he does care about this team."

"No, I mean I can see him from here." She says and points out towards the grounds.

Following her direction, I look over and spot, Cyril. Napping under a tree.

'Darn it Cyril.' I find myself cursing the boy. 'You could at least pretend.'

"In his defense he's had a long day, and admitted he wasn't trying to find you." I explain.

" Sure." Blake scoffs.

"Blake, he specifically said he was the last person you'd listen to and follow back." I say as I sit down beside her. "Blake, just, what's wrong? Talk to us."

"I've said enough." She says.

Looking to the girl, I see she's glaring at Cyril's direction. Side eying him as she brings her knees up to hug.

"I, don't think you have." I say lightly. "Blake, please, just, talk. Okay? I get that, being on a team with us might not be what you wanted but, we're all trying here."

"Not what I wanted?" She scoffs with a bit of emotion in her voice. "Weiss, nothing has gone the way it was supposed to. Everything has gone wrong."

"What do you mean?" I ask, more than a tad perplexed. "If this is about-"

"I tried, I tried so hard to follow Adam." She ignores me. "I, I love him. And, I thought he loved me!"

'What?'

"He even dropped out of initiation, twice for me!" She says. "What was I supposed to think?"

'This, is not what I was prepared for.' I think to myself as I listen to her vent.

"I'm not-"

"I thought when he said we should part ways, he was just talking about teams and Beacon!" She gives a soft laugh. "But no! He meant it literally!"

I was ready to hear about some trauma involving humans. I had a speech ready to validate her feelings, while also explaining not all humans are like that.

"Is it me?" She asks. "Am I the problem?"

'Based on all the evidence, yes.' I think dryly as I watch Cyril nap. Envious of his position.

This is going to be a decent amount of time. Isn't it?

.

.

-20 minutes later-

.

.

"Am, am I really that bad?" Blake asks, and doesn't continue.

"I don't think you're any kind of bad." I lie, a little. "Are there things you could work on? Yes, but that applies to all of us. Ruby needs to calm down, Cyril needs to be more serious and learn some tact. And I, can be a bit uptight, by Vale's standards."

'Please please please!' I beg. 'Let this be the end of it.'

It's as I say this that my scroll goes off. Checking the device's caller I.D., I see it's Ruby and answer it.

"Weiss!" Ruby yells.

"Ruby!" I yell back. "Keep it down, I'm right here not, across the street."

"You're not in the security office." Ruby says in a tone of confusion.

"It's a figure of speech, Ruby." I sigh, growing ever more envious of Cyril at the moment. "Why did you call me?"

"Oh! I found out where Blake is!" Ruby says cheerfully.

Blake snorts as she looks over to me with a wry smile.

"Oh really?" I ask.

"Really! I looked through the cameras and found she went to the cafeteria's roof about an hour ago." Ruby says excitedly. "If you check it out you might find her!"

"Ruby." I say after a moment's pause. "Turn the cameras back to real time."

"Oh, um. Hi Weiss! I see you!" She says in an awkwardly excitable tone. "I guess you are right here, uh, there. … Cyril's sleeping on the lawn!"

"I know." I say dryly. "I can see him."

"Um, I'll uh, get him, and, yeah." She says before hanging up.

I put my scroll away with a sigh and just, sit here on the ledge with Blake.

"How did you know where to find me." Blake asks after a bit of pause.

"Adam told me you'd be somewhere quiet and away." I tell as I see Ruby running across the lawn towards Cyril.

"Oh." She says as we watch Ruby shout at Cyril, only for him to roll over and ignore her. "Do you, think he's with that Trifa girl?"

"I don't know." I sigh, remember the lengthy description of the girl she gave.

Ruby moves to the other side so that Cyril is facing her. And is now saying more things and making wild gestures.

"He's not taking me back is he?" Blake asks.

"From what I've heard, no." I answer bluntly, now understanding what Cyril refers to when he talks about a 'Social battery.'

Speaking of, he motions for Ruby to get closer. Which she does, only for him to grab and hold her down with him.

Which turns into her petalling around. Her petals now having a tint of white and a tad more black in them. They reform a bit away after circling around the tree. With Ruby stumbling, and Cyril collapsing to his hands and knees and, throwing up.

"Hmmph." Blake chuckles at Cyril's misery.

"You know he doesn't hate Faunus right?" I say.

Blake just turns her head away.

"He apparently went on a date with Ruby." I add, getting an odd, flinch from Blake. "She was pretty happy. Personally I don't think it was a date. Cyril didn't say it was and we've seen how Ruby is when she gets excited over, anything."

I need to stop trying to justify that to myself.

'But nothing is proven.' I remind myself.

"Blake." I say tiredly. "Please, just, give us a chance?"

"Fine."

Cyril Leon POV

.

That soup did not taste good the second time. To be fair it was kinda meh the first time.

I go to open the door. Only before I can smack my face into it this time, I put a hand up to catch myself.

Taking a breath, I get my keys out and unlock the door. Opening it to see Blake and Weiss chatting from each other's bed. When Blake looks up to me with a glare.

I flip her off, which only gets a confused look from her.

"Um, what's that supposed to mean?" She asks.

I stare blankly as I contemplate the melancholy of my situation. I've been stuck in a world, where the middle finger means nothing. Either that's a net positive for humanity, or a net loss.

"Seeing as you don't know, it has no meaning." I sigh as I head to my bed and plop down face first.

I've had a rollercoaster of a day. And kind of just want it to be over at this point. Don't get me wrong, it had its ups and its downs. Kicking Cardin's ass, telling his dad off, and the date with Ruby were all great! Everything else just exhausted my patience with how quick things went.

I'm half in and half out when I hear Blake walk up to me.

"Cyril." I hear her say. "I understand that, I may have made some, hasty judgements about you."

'Resist the urge to snark Cyril.' I tell myself. 'You'll only make it worse, Cyril!'

"And, I would like you to know, I'm willing to move past it if you are." She says. "Deal?"

Bit of a non apology but okay.

"Coolio." I say and give a thumbs up.

I get to enjoy a few more moments of silence before she speaks up again.

"That's it?" She scoffs indignantly. "I offer to start putting aside our differences and you just say, cool?"

"Oh no." I hear Ruby moan.

'Oh no is right.' I think as I push off my bed and stand up.

"Yes, that's all you get." I say as I regard her with a strained smile. "Because in case you haven't noticed, the only one caring about differences, is you. I don't give two shits or a flying fuck about what extra parts you do or don't have, hell! In some cases I find them cool or cute!" I point to Ruby. "So yeah, you're getting over your issues and I'll meet you half way, but don't pretend this wasn't a you problem from the start."

I think I did a good job holding myself back there.

"So you're fetishizing Faunus now?!" Blake accuses.

Weiss smacks her head against the wall behind Blake. And, I'd be upset, but, I mean, she's not entirely wrong. Hear me out, point one. Bunny girl. Not enough? Point two, who wouldn't want their own pair of wings?

" That's your takeaway?" I ask tiredly before turning back to my bed and laying down. "Go to bed Blake."

"Don't tell me what to do!" Blake says indignantly.

"Fine, do what you want." I wave a hand in the air.

"I will!" She says and stomps over to her bed. "You're an ass!"

"Takes one to know one sweetheart!"

Silence, once more.

"He called me cute!" Ruby snickers proudly.

"He called Faunus cute Ruby." Weiss points out.

A few moments later, we all jump as our door smashes open. Jaune on the floor as Nora puts a foot to his back.

"Haha!" She cheers. "First shower of the morning is mine!"

"Nora go back to your dorm!" I yell at the hyperactive ginger.

"You can't tell me-"

"Now!" I shout, which, causes the room to rattle a little and for Nora to flinch.

Great, I have canonical Dovazhul. Fun.

"Right then I will see you later!" She says with a salute before sliding out of the room, leaving a groaning Jaune on our floor.

"Thank you." He groans as he gets up. "And sorry, about, yeah."

He trudges out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Must be a safety latch. One of those things that just give under a certain amount of force to keep it from breaking.

I sleep.

.

.

-Beacon, SLBR Dorm, 09/04, 7am-

.

.

"Come on!" I hear as I'm shaken awake by Ruby.

"I'm up, I'm up!" I say as I get up.

"Good!" She says. "Class is in an hour and I'll not be late this time!"

"Okay?" I yawn. "Wasn't Weiss the reason we were late? Why address this to me."

"Because you're the only one I had to wake up." Ruby says defiantly. "Besides, we all know what Weiss was doing and she knows we know so we don't need to talk about it."

Okay, Ruby once again showing that perceptiveness.

"Wait, why do we have class today?" I ask. "We didn't have class yesterday."

Now it's Ruby's turn to look at me weird.

"What, did you think we were just, done with school?" Ruby asks. "Actually, where's your schedule?"

Pulling out the drawer on my nightstand, I notice there's some more cash and make a mental note to check what piece of clothing Weiss took later.

Moving it aside, I grab my syllabus and hand it to Ruby. She takes it and sits down next to me, flipping to the second page and pointing out our days off.

"This, only covers the month." I point out. "And there's no consistency to the days off versus the days we have class."

"Well, yeah." Ruby scoffs with a roll of her eyes.

"Why?" I ask. "Ruby I haven't gone to school here and know nothing."

"Oh." Ruby says as she remembers I'm, officially, raised with zero knowledge of, well most things. "Well, we get our schedules one month in because that's all the teachers can guarantee to be here. Next month we might not have Grimm studies. Or it might get replaced with something else."

That, can't be good for retention.

"Why though" I ask.

"All of the teachers are Hunters, Cyril." Ruby says. "Most of them are partially retired and might still set out on missions to nearby areas."

"Okay, and the inconsistent days?" I ask.

"Many reasons!" She says proudly. "The teachers have their own lives, there are celebrations and events to plan around, the more work we do, the more rest we earn, and it's to prepare us for the inconsistent and chaotic life of a Huntress, er, Hunter!"

Ruby finishes with a proud smile, holding her head up at the exposition she just gave.

"Okay, I guess that makes sense." I say as I stand up and stretch. "So, who's in the shower?"

"Weiss is on the toilet and Blake is showering." Ruby says. "So, you're last today."

Of course I am.

Taiyang Xiao Long POV

.

My little gemstone is growing up. I knew that of course, but, every father wants to hold on to their daughter forever.

But, we don't get that luxury. Hell, Summer's retiring when she hits forty. And I plan to fully retire with her. Qrow is dodgy on the subject, and I suspect he intends to die a Hunter and just leave his wealth to Ruby and Yang.

"A hundred and eight huh?" I think out loud as I see the kid and my daughter's team walk through the doors.

Assuming he's not lying, which I don't think he is. I think he'll make a decent father to any kids Ruby has. So long as she has them after she graduates of course.

Kid earned a lot of faith with how he tore into Councilor Winchester.

Though, even if I might not trust her partner fully, I trust my daughter not to do anything too dumb.

The way things are, I might actually become what my father didn't get the chance to be. A grandfather, there for his grandchildren.

"Alright, today we'll be doing partner battles!" I say as I move through the scroll's interface.

'Hope I'm making you proud old man.' I think as I start explaining today's routine. 'I took your advice, and I gotta say you were right.'

"First up! Ruby and Cyril versus Pyrrha and Jaune!" I announce.

Life is pretty good when you focus on what matters.

A/N

Funfact!

Cyril can't handle energy drinks, same as Nora. He gets too hyped up.

.

Keep in mind, Deathworld. Tai isn't upset his daughter is dating, hell, in canon he let Ruby leave to travel Anima after Beacon fell. Didn't even try to stop her.

.

Now we just wait for Qrow to find out.

.

Also, Cyril has yet to realize that Hunter teams being, open with each other is normal. Hell, he isn't even aware of the concept.

That'll be a fun reveal.

The idea to have Blake and Weiss talk was FannonDummy-D's. Originally I was going to have Cyril have a fight with Blake after either running into Blake while searching the cliffs, or be the one to talk to Adam and find her. But, 1, that's too coincidental, 2, Cyril, would not be the one trying to find Blake.

Also, Blake had like, 5 hours to cool off and think.
