I DON'T OWN HARRY POTTER OR ANY OF ITS ORIGINAL CHARACTERS, ONLY MY OCS AND THE SITUATIONS I PUT THEM IN. WARNING: There will be cussing, lemons, and violence. (Also, someone said I should put please don't steal. Didn't think I needed to, but ok. Please don't steal my stories.)

Some characters may seem OOC at some points at different times in the story, but I hope I explain that in the story when the time comes. Some things happen pretty fast at first (like certain relationships or legal stuff), but again I try to explain it. Some people may go back and forth at times, but I'll explain it! You get the idea. Spelling and grammar errors, I recheck constantly, so sorry if some slip by. Some character bashing in the beginning and for a little while, but that doesn't mean it will last the whole story. I don't hate certain characters though it may seem like that at times. THIS IS A WARNING. Though I will put a warning at the beginning needed. I do not condone all of these things, but my mind can be really fucked up, I apologize now. So, I am mixing both movie and book but I'm mainly following the movie. Though I will try to make a good blend between the two. Big thank you to everyone who followed, and/or favorited. You guys rock! I see them all and I am so glad so many of you are enjoying my story. Also want to thank everyone for their patience, continued enjoyment and coming back no matter how long I take along with the kind words and support. It really means a lot. Also, firebird-fenix, a little something in here for you! For other reviewers that made suggestions and the like, don't worry, I see you and I try to take everything into consideration. Some things might not fit in this story, but it doesn't mean those ideas won't be used for stories in the future. Sorry if it's not mentioned here, but I do see and appreciate all the suggestions. Once more, I want to give a big thank you to everyone who sent such kind and patient messages and reviews. It really means a lot. I can't even explain how much I appreciate it. So, thank you again! Also, if some things seem to short, or mentioned and then not resolved, I know. I'm just setting things up for other chapters. Thanks! Enjoy.

Chapter 21: When Death Speaks. (Part 2).

Today was the day.

The big trial. Sirius Black was finally getting a chance to prove his innocence.

Harry tried to hide his nerves. He attempted to distract himself by thinking of the letters Neville was currently sending out with Luna.

They were asking to speak to Firenze and his former chief Magorian. Pastries and meats with wine was sent as offerings. The centaur Bane wasn't technically excluded from the invitation, but if he didn't show up then none of the Knights would complain.

Of course, Harry was keeping in close contact with Warwick and Rashnok. Harry had gifted them with the three Lestrange's vaults after making a donation of some gold to Saint Mungos. The goblins had been pleased with the gift. They had also gifted Harry something. The name and location of a specific squib.

One with the last name of Umbridge.

A letter was sent with promises of protections to the man along with a few others around the globe. Besides Umbridge's brother, Harry was moving to establish communication with Death Eaters that had been actually forced to join Voldemort.

People that would personally love to see the actual fall of Voldemort and all of his willing followers.

Harry refrained from writing Alex yet. He was giving her and Sirius a chance to get to know one another. Also, he was a little worried about their first meeting. Alex had come to be like an aunt to him, what Harry thought an aunt or older sister should be. A small part of him couldn't help but wonder 'What if she doesn't like me this time?'

A thought that he tried to tell himself had no justification. Yet…it was something he couldn't shake.

It didn't matter though as Harry was about to meet her face to face. Alex was Sirius' lawyer after all.

Vivian, Ron, and Hermione had all been excused from class. They were sitting with Remus in Harry's court box, showing support. Though Neville and Luna wanted to come, both were making sure that Harry had no other worries to deal with and could concentrate.

Both pre-teens sent their mental love and support to Sirius though, which he received. Even if he was too nervous to send a proper thank you back.

Not that anyone could blame him.

Vivian had given Luna a letter to send out to the remainder of Fenrir's pack. Her pack, though she had left the name Cobra Lily. She sent them food, clothing and to a properly housed location in a safe area until she could meet them in person.

Though Fenrir was dead, they were still afraid to even think of leaving the pack. He had instilled a deep fear in them that it seemed even his death couldn't release.

Vivian was determined to fix that. She would take over the pack with Remus as her second. She would have given the title of Alpha to him, but Remus insisted that she earned it, and he was happy to be her second in command.

They were determined to be better leaders than Fenrir!

They would care for the pack.

For the people in the pack.

Molly hadn't wanted Ron to go to the trial at first when he asked, but once he insisted that Harry needed him, the mother hen had caved. She truly did care about Harry. If Sirius was innocent like the kids and Remus were claiming, then she knew Harry needed to be there. Where Harry went, so did Ron.

Harry distracted himself by focusing on his growing impatience when it came to finding Voldemort. He just wanted to find the shadow of a being, eat his soul and then send out Puppetmort! Was that so much to ask?!

Then Puppetmort could go off and make a mockery of himself with the fake Lestranges in tow.

Harry wondered how long Neville would draw out the Lestrange's suffering before killing them.

None of the group trusted fate enough to keep any of the Lestranges around for too long.

Thirst for justice or not.

From his spot, Harry saw the magnificent flash of Dumbledore's robes.

That was really who Puppetmort was for. The fake Voldemort was designed to keep the master chess master busy.

Harry didn't want to kill Albus. He didn't want to torture or ruin him. He just didn't need the man breathing down his neck. A part of Harry still cared for Albus, even idolized him in some ways. Even so, Harry wasn't trusting any of his loved ones' lives with Dumbledore. He'd never do that again.

After Puppetmort served his purpose then Harry would 'defeat' him. That should pacify Albus given the prophecy both he and Tom were obsessed with forcing on Harry. The one that both men helped make come true. Even if it was unintentional and fear driven, that was what they did.

Like Riddle, Albus put too much faith in vague prophecies. Especially when they were made by drunks who washed any actual gift away with alcohol and had a racism towards centaurs. Harry was not putting his faith in Sybill Trelawney's wasted, washed up talent.

Both Voldemort and Albus had a tendency to self-fulfill prophecies.

'Not this time' Harry took a deep breath. He had wanted to distract himself but getting upset wouldn't do any good either. Giving Hermione's hand a squeeze as Ron patted his shoulder, Harry concentrated on what was important.

His friends.

His family.

That was what mattered.

Harry stood, making his way down to speak with the approaching Alexandra.

She was as beautiful and confident as any of the children remembered. Remus found himself briefly staring before shaking himself with a clearing of his throat. 'Alright Pads' he mentally congratulated his best mate, thinking of his last talk with Sirius. Sirius had gone on and on about the beautiful vampire. 'Alright Pads, you were right' Remus thought. 'Good on you, you mutt' he thought amusedly towards his hidden best mate.

Alex's green and purple gaze practically glowed as she reached Harry with a smile.

Though she wore dark, regal robes, Harry was sure that she had on a very modern outfit underneath. Not to mention the metal in her face.

'Modern and punk' Vivian thought fondly on the woman she often pretended was her actual sister and aunt. Those missions had been pretty fun.

Dangerous, but fun.

Alex's canines were not extended fully as she gave Harry a big, charming smile. She had shrunken her canines down as much as possible for court. Harry put on the most innocent, open expression he could. Thankfully, it wasn't an act. He wanted to be open with Alex.

Even if he was trying to work out just how to break the news of the future to her.

He didn't think she'd mind having a sudden family. Still, he knew it could be a lot to handle. Especially with the Master of Death title coming into play.

Once more Harry wondered how much happier he had been if Alex had raised him. 'Imagine her raising you, us with Remus and Sirius' Vivian couldn't help thinking towards Harry whose smiled widened further.

"Mr. Potter, I am Alexandra Debree. Call me Alex, please" she introduced shaking his hand.

Harry wanted to make a good first impression.

'Just, please, like me. Like us' Harry internally begged.

Alex suddenly gave a bit of a dramatic jump, looking back and forth. She seemingly accidentally moved them to a spot where almost no one could watch them. "Did you hear that voice?" Alex asked Harry out loud.

"Um, no?" Harry winced at the unintentional question of an answer. Internally, he tried not to panic. 'She heard that? How? We haven't made the connection yet' his mind raced. He hadn't meant to do that! Why was his magic suddenly not listening.

Alex looked at Harry. Her big eyes, similar to Vivian's in size though catlike in shape, were wide as she blinked rapidly. "There it was again" she whisper-yelled as if afraid.

"I really don't hear anything" Harry tried as he begged for the others to mentally help.

"There are more voices now" Alex made the group have to fight the urge to jump up and run around in panicked circles.

"And they're all super whiny" she added making some of them look up in shock. Alex tsked, shaking her head. "Almost as if someone was forced into puberty again for someone else's amusement" she added with a so-so motion of the hand.

Harry looked at her in shock. 'She-she couldn't' he thought as his mouth did a perfect imitation of a goldfish. 'She doesn't know who I am, who I really am'.

"Of course, I do Harry" Alex tutted before adding mentally to everyone. 'I do think I'd remember my own Master' was teased.

All the kids and Remus looked at Alex in total shock.

Alex then dared to tweak Harry's nose before briskly moving to the defense's desk with a pep in her step.

Harry couldn't even move. He was dumbstruck. He wasn't alone.

Alex memorized their faces, sending Sirius the image through the mind link. 'I was right' she told him. 'That was fun'.

'BRAT!' Hermione and Vivian accidentally thought together. They had almost shouted it out loud before Ron took each other their hands quickly, remembering that they were in public.

"Ah" Alex sighed. 'It's good to be back. Reunited. One big happy family' she reminded Remus that they did know one another before his death. He was able to catch glimpses that she shared. 'Together again. It's like one of those muggle Christmas movies or something' she went on, face professional and smoothed of expression as she set papers on the table.

As he made his way slowly back to his seat, Harry had to fight off a hysterical laugh. That had Remus pat his back so he could pass it off as a cough. 'She remembers. You remember' Harry thought.

It was a shock, yet relief all in one.

'If Padfoot knew' Remus mentally warned both Sirius and Alex. 'Then there will be war!' came the semi-teasing threat.

Then…a certain pink-haired auror caught his eye.

Tonks quickly waved to Remus, even daring to throw in a cheeky wink. Remus' cheeks heated slightly. 'Like a schoolboy' he internally groused, though that didn't stop the wave he sent back with a half-smile. His smile did grow when it was Tonks' turn to lightly blush.

Ron was smirking but quickly wiped it off when Remus looked his way.

The atmosphere became somber as Alex rose to escort Sirius into the courtroom as the different officials took their seats.

A chair with chains was produced, but some whispered words between Albus, Amelia and Alex saw Sirius sitting next to Alex in a regular chair. He was not hand cuffed.

Now Alexandra was all business.

She stood, robe in place and obviously dressed for court. Besides her piercings. However, the metal didn't take away from her professional demeanor.

"Lady Debree" Albus began the trial. He addressed Alex after getting the introductions over and why everyone was there. "Please, begin".

"Thank you, your honor" Alex stated. "Ladies and gentlemen" she looked at the crowd and then the panel. Her tone was clear and crisp. "We are gathered here today to find justice" she told them. She walked back and forth for a moment before stopping. "Justice for Lord and Lady Potter. For Lord Harry Potter, the last of his line" she pointed out. "And for Lord Sirius Orion Black" her melodic voice cut through any whispers that were soon hushed.

"There were many victims from that fateful, tragic night twelve years ago. The muggles killed along with the Potters. However, we have undisputable proof from multiple sources that the real culprit of that night who assisted Tom Riddle, also known as Voldemort" she carried on the through screams.

Alex purposely did not use the title of Lord for Riddle. "That villain is still alive. Even more so, he was seen as a hero!" came the passionate, though paced speech. "Due to shady work in the ministry and auror corps, along with a clever and misguided ruse, not only was Lord Sirius Black robbed of twelve, long years of his freedom, his life" she accentuated.

"But both he and Lord Potter were robbed of the chance to properly be a family. Sirius Black is Harry Potter's legal, magical godfather" she said.

More whispers rang out before quieting.

Alex nodded, hands now behind her back for a moment.

"He is Harry Potter's magical godfather" was reinstated. "An oath in the magical community that is to not be taken lightly. Sirius was robbed of his freedom, abused in the prison system" came the accusation. "While Mr. Potter was abused by his own last living relatives" she went on.

"Twelve years" she hammered in though her voice wasn't overly raised. "Twelves years these two people suffered, along with people who loved them. People who are in their lives now thankfully, but who were alone before. Alone in some cases" she gestured to Remus who, with Vivian taking his hand with Harry, kept his chin up. "Were forced to not only stay away from Mr. Potter, but were forced to mourn a traitor, a killer, Death Eater scum" she let the words ring out. "While believing that their innocent best friend had damned the family they had created" she walked in front of the table.

Though he knew what she was going to say, Sirius' eyes were glued to Alex. Seeing her so passionate, especially over him-! It was hypnotic to the man.

Alex stayed focused.

As eyes went to Harry and Remus, neither disputed any of Alex's claims.

"Today" Alex once more grabbed everyone's attention. "Today, this courtroom will have a chance to be heroes themselves" she announced. "That chance will come by finally seeing proper justice done. Right the wrongs. Finally punish the guilty Peter Pettigrew and set an innocent Sirius Black free!".

Hermione had to applaud Alex's skill. Ron saw it for the great strategy move it already was. People were already puffing their chests out as if important. They were buying the image that Alex was painting.

Harry and Vivian hoped that Alex made good use of the 'adjusted' memories given to her about Peter.

They were technically true, just adjusted to fit their current time period.

When given the signal, Kreacher would pop the man in. Sirius had offered the elf's assistance to Amelia since they were still working through security.

Though he was ashamed, Sirius had admitted to Alex that certain guards at Azkaban had been abusive while he was weakened. They were currently being brought in on charges, even as the trial was going. However, he knew some would manage to at least weasel their way out of it. Make deals and the like.

Neither Amelia nor Alex were going to stand for that. Sirius did worry about what Harry and Vivian would do once they found out. Not to mention Remus.

Alex had kept the three main abusers' names quiet for the moment. She wanted to give them to Harry and have the Knights, with hopefully herself included, take the men out.

Thinking of Pettigrew saw Amelia suppress a shiver. Amelia had to wonder if twelve years of acting, living as a rat, had affected Peter mentally. The man was a right nutter! He was almost totally insane.

Almost.

The clearest, sanest he became was when recalling his crimes. He spoke of throwing suspicion onto Remus Lupin with Albus Dumbledore's unknowing help. How he talked Sirius and James into making him the secret keeper. How Peter led Voldemort right to the Potters, giving the signal when James didn't have a wand to defend himself. He then admitted to cutting his own finger off, killing twelve muggles and framing Sirius Black. With some help from incompetent or even naturally corrupt aurors who went against protocol in their panic and the like.

The aurors had helped by rushing to cover everything up. Seeing Sirius in such a state, instead of taking him to a mind healer, they deemed him mad and evil. He was guilty in their minds as his own coworkers willingly forgot the man behind the dreaded Black family name.

It made Amelia sick!

It also had her taking a fine-toothed comb to all the prisoner records and her aurors. Past and present.

Pettigrew would be useful for the trial. Then, he'd be sent to Azkaban, or the mental ward of Saint Mungos if decided.

Though, unlike the American hospital and prisons, neither Saint Mungos nor Azkaban had wards specifically for the criminally insane.

They kind of just through everyone in together.

That was something else Amelia had to take into consideration.

Albus stood in order to list the offences that Sirius, and now Peter, were accused of. An animagus was not one of them, seeing as Sirius hadn't had to use it in order to break out yet. Technically since the Master of Death broke him out, he couldn't be charged with breaking out on his own either.

Sirius wouldn't miss the title of the only man to escape Azkaban on his own.

Fudge felt like he might puke.

However, an anonymous letter had arrived before the trial. His supposed saving grace, as it seemed. It stated that if he kept his mouth shut then he would not be implicated directly in the technically unlawful and illegal imprisonment of a member of an ancient and noble house. One of the sacred twenty-six no less.

There were old laws about that. Big ones. Ones that made what Fudge did a giant no-no.

Fudge would be 'spared' if he didn't speak out against Sirius.

He'd be spared…for now. Though that part had been left out of the letter.

Harry kept his cool. He looked like the anxious though hopeful child that he currently felt like. Hermione did ignore the less than polished looking Rita Skeeter, who sat as close to the Potter box as allowed from the press section.

Vivian hid a smirk with Ron as Rita kept looking over her words carefully, then over her shoulder. As if she was anxious over every sentence. She was not using a quick quill.

Vivian inhaled deeply, catching the woman's high-strung emotions. Remus smelt it as well making him have to fight off a cringe. Rita apparently bathed in perfume that made Remus all but want to hurl. He slipped some chocolate from his pocket, sharing it with Vivian.

They did not share it with the now pouting Ron.

'It's not like the perfume will keep dementors away' Ron turned his ire to the reporter. It was that or begin to worry about everything that could possibly go wrong during the trial. He chose not to do that.

'Maybe that's why Trelawny uses so much incense' Vivian couldn't help but think.

'Focus' Hermione snapped the other threes attention forward. She was understandably anxious. Hermione was also the one who had the hardest time hiding her anxiety. Remus put a supportive hand on her shoulder making her slowly, very slowly, begin to ease a little.

Hermione bit her bottom lip harshly to trap in a nervous laugh. Now was not the time.

Alex prepared some papers, ignoring Albus' blue eyes on her. She had already worked up an air tight case. However, if anyone pushed for any 'greater good' sort of thing, she also had a few questions set aside for that.

Like why was Hagrid sent to pick up Harry instead of letting Sirius take him? Sirius would have legally been the next person to take Harry. He should have been. Yet, he wasn't. Why? It couldn't be because they thought he was a traitor yet due to Hagrid using Sirius' motorcycle to make sure Harry was safely escorted away. Another sign of Sirius' care for Harry. Harry being taken from his legal guardian could hint to Albus already having his own plans in motion. Plans Lily and James did not agree with which meant he went against a possible hidden will.

How did Hagrid know, how did Albus know? Because of Snape, a Death Eater he had working for him?

Why were the Potters attacked? How did Harry survive?

All things that Alex knew Albus would not want answered. That would leave him very little wiggle room in such a public area.

Especially as she worked the corrupt system for her own uses.

Alex stood once more. "Allow me to present the first bit of evidence. Exhibit A" she announced. The kids settled in for a show as Peter Pettigrew was popped in for all to see and recognize.

The result?

Chaos.

Harry hid a smile.

####SCENE BREAK####

Neville smiled, walking freely in Dumbledore's office under Harry's invisibility cloak. Luna's tracker was still on the Albus. That also made him fail to question the portraits about anyone's arrival. Still, the invisibility cloak made sure that no one would go out of their way to tell Albus or any other staff about the children just randomly in Albus' office. Though, the children didn't know that besides the man in the hall whose job it was to report, none of the other portraits would have reported the kids even if they could see them.

The paintings wanted to see what would unfold and didn't see the children as being actually dangerous.

Pranksters, sure, but dangerous? They were children. Mostly Gryffindors.

Neville placed the candies Sirius and Remus made for Albus on top of his other lemon candies. The goal was just to keep Albus further distracted. Remus and Sirius took that miss to heart, Marauder style.

Neville did find it odd that Fawkes wasn't in the office. There wasn't a little ash pile or anything.

Neville realized that Fawkes wasn't the only one he hadn't seen much of lately. 'Trevor's disappeared again' he thought of his toad. Quickly making his way out, Neville made it back to the tower, looking around while hiding the invisibility cloak. The room was pretty empty, easy enough to sneak in and take off the cloak without detection.

Looking around, Neville didn't see Crookshanks. Seeing a familiar red head walking down from the girl dorms, Neville called out "Hey Ginny, can you do me a favor and see if Crookshanks is on Hermione's bed?"

"Sure thing" Ginny happily supplied, turning around to go to the older girl's dorm. Soon she returned with a regretful shake of her head. "Sorry Neville" she told him. "I didn't see him anywhere".

"It's fine" he tried to wave off. "How are you liking Hogwarts?" he felt the need to ask. She seemed much more at ease, carefree and a bit like the Ginny he knew though lacking that shadow that Tom Riddle had put in her gaze.

Ginny's pretty smile brightened. "I love it. Even with the twins and Lee not letting them help with pranks. Not to mention Percy always going on" she said making Neville smile a little. "Though Ron has been loads better" she chuckled. "It's probably because of Vivian" she joked.

"You know, I think he'd agree with you" Neville chuckled with her. "Well, have a good one Gin" he distractedly made his way out to the hall. He had to find the missing pets. Something was up, he could feel it.

Next stop, the owlery.

Ginny smiled with head titled at the unintentional nickname. Then she went to focus on her charms homework.

'Where could they be?' Neville thought, looking for Trevor under armor and chairs as he made his way to the owlery.

"Ah, young Longbottom" Sir Nicolas floated over. "What brings you to such a studious search dear boy?" he asked curiously.

"Uh, I'm looking for my toad, Trevor" Neville admitted sheepishly.

Nick had to give a small chuckle. This was a scene he had now seen quite often from the last Longbottom.

Neville scratched the back of his neck. He knew how this must have looked to the casual observer.

"Well, perhaps I may be of some assistance" Nick offered helpfully. "I believe I saw your slippery friend with a very orange and quite flat faced feline" the ghost described.

"Crookshanks?" Neville asked himself under his breath.

"In fact, quite the curious sight" Nick admitted, rubbing his chin. "I believe I even saw Dumbledore's phoenix accompanying them outside on the grounds going towards the Whomping Willow" he went on.

Now Neville looked beyond stumped.

"Yes, quite odd. I do hope that helps. Farewell" Nick then floated through a wall.

Now Neville rushed to find Luna so they could go looking for the missing pets. 'What would Fawkes be doing with Trevor and Crookshanks?' he had to wonder. He'd have to check out the owlery.

There was something odd happening and he had to figure it out!

####SCENE BREAK####

"Minister Fudge, you should know just as well as Supreme Mugwump and Chief Warlock Dumbledore that if one were to suggest that Lord Black's recent 'liberation' of Azkaban could be seen as punishable by either more Azkaban time or a loss of rights, then whoever were to try to press these charges would be in for quite a legal battle" Alex spoke clearly.

Seeing Fudge go to speak, Alex easily went on. "Allow me to refresh your memory on the law from 910 that forbids a pureblood, especially one of the families from the Sacred Twenty-Eight, the law forbids them from being imprisoned without right of trial" she tsked as if talking to naughty children.

"That in effect would not only void all previously accused crimes but that would also require the Ministry to pay a fee to Lord Black for essentially breaking the law and in a sense robbing him" she reminded.

Hands out she brought it home. "The choice is yours to make of course but know this" she said seriously. "Whatever you decide, Sirius Black is walking out of here a free man" she stated clearly.

"He is innocent, whether people choice to be blind or not" she went on, now speaking to everyone. "That freedom will not be further denied. The real choice you must make is whether he walked out far richer and perceived a much better man than any of you in the eyes of the people and the press" she gestured to the people watching.

"There is your choice. I will now allow you to deliberate" she nodded to the council.

Albus leaned back thoughtfully as it looked like Fudge wanted to take a dive off the podium.

This was it.

There was no way Sirius wouldn't be free. Alex had pulled on all of her years of knowledge to find any and every possible avenue to use for their purpose.

Harry wasn't able to fully taper down a smile. Alex had done it!

With that, the council went back to the chambers to deliberate their limited options.

Alex sat by Sirius whispering words of encouragement to him.

"Mr. Potter" Rita Skeeter tried to somewhat discreetly get Harry's attention before anyone else could. That prolonged Harry from being able to mentally question Alex. "Rita Skeeter with the Daily Prophet. I'm sure you've heard of me?" she couldn't help but slightly pump herself up at the end. "We've met before?" she mentioned seeing as she had technically done an interview with him before.

She was slightly saddened to not see the handsome Lord Rectus Latronem next to him.

"Have we?" Harry tilted his head with an innocently lost expression. As if he hadn't had a one on one with the woman already. "Sorry" he gave a small shrug. "I've been pretty busy lately, I'm sure I'll remember later" was added.

Rita lost some of her smile but carried on. "I'm sure you will" came the hidden threat. "For now, I was wondering how you feel about the trial so far. I know you already claimed to know of Sirius' innocence but has any of this brought anything else to light. Any emotions or the like" she dug.

Already her quill was writing about Harry's eyes swimming with memories and the like. Even if she briefly looked over her shoulder again for any shadows.

Ron faked a sneeze, shooting out a silent wandless hex at the enchanted quill.

It snapped itself in half.

Rita jumped, grabbing the dead quill before looking around quickly as she shakily pulled out a normal quill with endless ink.

"I'm just happy now everyone else will know that Sirius is innocent, and he doesn't have to hide" came Harry's response. "Now we can be a proper family again" Harry mentioned.

Remus put his hand on Harry's shoulder from behind. "We should have always been a family, Harry. I'm not sure why Albus did what he did, separating us" he pretended to forget that Rita was listening. "But what matters now is that we're together again and that's how it'll stay" he promised. That was a real promise.

Seeing Rita zero in the group knew that between damage control with the press and the marauders' special candy, Albus would be properly busy. They weren't too worried about him. Albus could survive the press. That was something they were all sure of.

"What do you mean-" Rita tried to ask Remus, but was cut off as the committee once more entered the room taking their seats.

That had had to be the shortest deliberation ever.

Once more sitting on his high center seat, Dumbledore spoke as Alex and Sirius both rose.

"Madam Bones" Albus gestured. "Please lead the committee in revealing the vote for Lord Black. Wands up to show innocence" he announced.

Amelia held her wand up, lighting the tip.

All but five wands lit up. Harry made notes of the faces just in case they ended up being Death Eaters or Death Eater supporters, which he wouldn't doubt.

"We find Sirius Black innocent of all accused crimes" Amelia clearly stated. "The Ministry apologies for the terrible injustice done" she added.

Sirius almost sagged in disbelief before Alex twitched her fingers against his, reminding him now was not the time. He stood tall next to her.

Alex nodded along to what Amelia said, yet Harry wasn't able to fully pay attention. He was beaming, almost in disbelief and fear that this was all a dream! They had done it! Really done it! No more hiding!

Words couldn't even describe how Harry, or the others felt right now. Feeling Remus' hands back on his shoulders as both stood, Harry knew he wasn't alone.

Not able to contain himself any longer, Harry ran from his seat and all but crashed into Sirius who caught him in a bone crushing hug with Vivian joining. Remus was only a second behind, almost toppling the four though they managed not to fall.

The three held onto one another for dear life, now totally uncaring of the watching audience.

Harry realized that like the men and Vivian, he was crying. These were happy tears though. Relieved tears.

Somehow, this was what let Harry know that they really were making a change. Fixing things.

It wasn't a cruel dream or his imagination like the millions of times that he had dreamed of this very scenario before.

This was real.

He squeezed Sirius feeling his Godfather kiss the top of his head. He held Harry tightly with Remus as the other overjoyed children rallied around them. Alex smiled softly at the sweet scene. She did keep some composure though given the vultures currently watching.

She would let the kids have this moment with the men. Right now, she was the wall to protect them from those watching on.

Amelia let the briefest of smiles flash over her expression. Albus himself couldn't help but try to memorize the heartwarming scene.

After thanking Amelia and the court, Sirius walked out to the press. The others refused to leave his side. Alex stood next to him, smiling a little as she led the group onto a platform to speak before they'd make their way home.

Sirius was literally surrounded by most of his loved ones. He wasn't complaining.

Reaching down, Sirius took Alex's hand in his trying to hide any hesitation.

She didn't pull away making Sirius ease. He gave a charming and happy smile when Alex shot him a sneaky, cheeky wink.

Sirius was on a high like no other! He was free. Pettigrew would be warming his old cell. Though, Sirius wasn't sure Peter was even fully aware of his surroundings. Sirius had Harry and Remus and Vivian along with all the wonderful kids that truly added to his life. Also, he had Alex.

Getting to know her… Sirius was swarmed with emotions. He felt like running around to burn off some energy while shouting 'We did it Jamie, we did it!' he could just picture James and Lily's expressions now.

"We'll talk to the press then leave the back way. Just to avoid any stragglers before the news has a chance to spread. They'll inform the muggle minister as well" Alex was informing the group.

"Then we need to talk" Harry hinted to Alex. He tried to be stern, yet it wasn't totally working as he was still happy.

Alex put on a confused expression. "Hmm, what about?" she questioned as if lost.

"Don't even" Vivian was also having problems keeping her expression hard.

Alex's smirk showed that none of the children, even Hermione's famous glare, was threatening to her. Not even slightly.

Same ol' Alex.

Blowing a playful kiss to Hermione, Alex went up to the microphones and address the press. She once more stated Sirius' free status. "Lord Black will answer a few questions. Then he will have to retire for the evening. Please keep the questions limited as he is still recovering from the barbaric conditions impressed by the Azkaban guards" Alex announced.

Once more, Alex and Sirius briefly held hands, though it was hidden from most people's view.

"Lord Black! Lord Black" was shouted by several reporters.

Xenophilius Lovegood wasn't there currently. He'd get the scoop from Luna later. His moonbeam had already written to him, promising actual memories from Sirius himself.

Sirius pointed to a young woman with long brown hair and chic, yet modest robes. One of the only ones not screaming. "Lord Black, Stephanie Clearwater with the Daily Prophet" she introduced herself. "Do you believe that there are possibly other people to fall victim to the same lack of protocol such as yourself?" she asked with quill poised and ready.

"I'm afraid so" Sirius nodded. "It was recently pointed out to me that we have such potions as Veritaserum, yet it seems that when the time comes to use it, none is offered. Why is that?" Sirius asked. "It does seem like this wrinkle in thinking seems to play into someone's agenda" Sirius ended thoughtfully.

It was all things he believed. However, he couldn't help but think that this was the greatest prank that he and Remus had ever pulled. He was the victim, but now he got to control the narrative.

"What would you say to the previous leader of the auror corps and Minister that so readily imprisoned you without a trial?" a man asked when called on.

Sirius thought before answering "I'd ask if they enjoyed playing a God just to ruin innocent lives" came the answer.

Alex stepped in. "Lord Black was an auror, quite high in the ranks along with his partner and technically adopted brother, Lord James Potter" she pointed out.

It was as if people forgot that the Potters took Sirius in. That Sirius and James were respected and well known in their ranks.

"That fact that he was a top auror, yet his own department went against protocol?" Alex continued. "That sounds like either panic, which shows those people are in the wrong profession. A cover up" she listed off. "Or jealousy where he was put away for being too good" she ended.

To cover them Alex added "He should have been questioned. If he was behaving erratically as was claimed, then he should have been taken to a mind healer" Alex pointed out. "Of course he was behaving erratically. He had thought one of his best friends was a traitor only to find out it was another best friend who helped kill a third best friend and a woman that was like a sister to Lord Black, and he was denied access to his godson!" she listed off. "I doubt any man would seem sane less than an hour after having to endure all of that".

Finally, Alex ended on "Sirius Black had witnessed a traumatic sight that night. These three" she pointed to Remus, Sirius and Harry. "Lost their family that night. In more ways than one. You show me someone who is totally fine after that. You can't, I can promise you that" she finished.

At that, multiple eyes went to Harry.

"I was supposed to take Harry. I tried" Sirius revealed. "Though an outside force acting on someone else's orders prevented me" Sirius stated. "If I had had Harry…I would have found Remus and he could have talked me out of going for the traitor" he spat, still avoiding saying Peter's name. "He could have talked me into waiting and searching for him with an actual auror unit. But I didn't have Harry, and I didn't go to Remus" Sirius ended quietly. Harry took his hand as Remus rubbed his shoulder.

Alex moved Vivian to Sirius' other side so she could take his hand as well as the others stayed close, showing their support.

Alex moved somewhat in front of Sirius in a protective move.

The reporters got louder as they were eager for names on the outside interference.

Alex held her hands up for silence.

"Now Lord Black and company must retire home to rest. Please respect the whole family's need for privacy" she spoke above the unhappy crowd of reporters.

With that, Alex and Remus managed to work together to get Sirius and the children into a side corridor that press wasn't allowed in.

Ron saw Hermione send off a little something to dissuade a certain beetle from following.

"You were brilliant" Sirius swung an arm around Alex's shoulder.

"Hm" she joked. "Get to know me. I'm full of talents" came the reply.

Before anyone could say anything else, a familiar face showed up. "Heya Watcher Remus, Sirius" Tonks greeted coming up and officially being introduced to everyone.

"You must be Remus' daughter" Toks smiled at Vivian. "Your Da talked about you non-stop" she teased.

"You must be Tonks" Vivian shyly shook her hand before retaking Remus' hand. "He talks 'bout you too" Vivian added with a tiny giggle.

Remus looked at Vivian quickly trying to laugh her words off.

Tonks tried to hide how much she liked hearing such a thing.

Alex and Harry shared a smirk. Hermione lightly put a hand on Sirius' elbow to make him hold back any funny retort. At least for the moment.

Ron smiled brightly cutting in through Remus' embarrassment and confusion with "Well, now that Sirius is free, maybe you can visit Remus at home" came the too innocent suggestion.

Remus didn't know what was going on! Yes, Tonks was beautiful and had proven herself quite funny and brave, but he couldn't spend time with her. He was too old, too dangerous to try and intrude on the wonderful woman's life.

"I'm sure she's busy. She's an auror" Remus tried to give Tonks an easy out to reject the idea. Reject him.

"Actually" Tonks slowly let her smile show as she looked up at Remus with a bit of a bashful expression. He really was too good looking for her own good. "I can always make time" she looked at Remus. Seeing him seem a bit surprised, Tonks' smile widened.

She bid everyone a good day and began walking off. It didn't escape anyone's notice that she looked back unable to keep her eyes off of Remus. "See you soon Lupin" she shot off.

"Uh, look forward to it" Remus got his mouth to start working again and not just hang open in shock. Tonks smiled, finally turning a corner.

Remus was just happy that his words came out somewhat smoothly. Remus had to fight off a small, disbelieving smile.

Getting ahold of himself, Remus turned to look between Vivian and Harry. "Spill" came the order as he crossed his arms with a very fatherly 'Well' expression.

Sirius knew that look well.

"I" Alex quickly cut in. "Don't think that this is the best setting for any talk" she pointed out.

Though he grumbled about everyone conspiring against him, much to Sirius and Alex's amusement, Remus knew the truth in those words. He retook a happy Vivian's hand. Even if she still looked a little too much like she was plotting something for her father's liking.

With that, the decent sized group quickly made their way to the hidden Potter Manor where they'd send word to Neville and Luna.

Silently, away from Remus, everyone made a vow to not tell him about Tonks. They weren't going to let him ruin that because he thought she deserved better.

Vivian and Hermione shared a smile. Looked like they had more matchmaking to do.

####SCENE BREAK####

Yaxley was on edge.

Things had been…off for a few days now. Considering the company he kept, that said a lot.

First off, the listening charm in Amelia's office revealed nothing. Well, that wasn't totally accurate.

He almost believed that the device had been found due to the muteness. Then…he heard it.

Breathing.

Someone was breathing directly into the charmed device. When he went to listen more, the sound only got worse. Creepier.

As the days wore on it began to sound as if the breathing was in the very room with him. Not just from the device, but from Yaxley's side. Behind him.

Today was the worst.

When he got into his chambers, the device attached to the charm was on. He forced himself to listen.

Just more breathing.

Before he could toss the device in frustration, something horrible and unexplained happened. A few long strands of hair loose from his ponytail briefly moved on their own into his line of sight. As if the hair was caught in some unknown wind.

It wasn't due to any movement on his end.

It was as if someone had actually breathed on the back of his neck. Yaxley spun around with wand at the ready in his sweaty palm. Yet, there was nothing. Of course, there was nothing. He was alone in his dark bedroom. He knew that! Now the shadows around the room which he often didn't even notice seemed to be looming in a threatening manner.

He tried to disregard the shadows once more.

"It's just in your head" he told himself speaking out loud. "You're just nervous about reporting back to your Lord with no good news" he felt a definite pit in his stomach.

Even in his tiny, baby like form, Voldemort managed to scare the hardened Death Eater.

Yaxley was nervous to report back to Voldemort. The Potter boy had just gained another powerful ally in Sirius Black. Though he could hope, Yaxley knew he couldn't simply assume that the years in Azkaban had robbed Black of his natural power or skills. And the man had had been very powerful.

Besides, if the hug Yaxley had witnessed was to be believed, then Potter was happy and doing well. He had at least a small support group.

Not to mention Pettigrew being found out. Not only had the man somehow managed to stay the pet of Potter's best friend, but he never took the chance to kill the boy!? Yaxley guessed that Peter either didn't have the stomach to do it, the courage, or perhaps he had regrets over his past actions. Yaxley didn't know nor care.

That was one less spy for Voldemort, no matter how useless Yaxley believed Peter to be. He didn't bother to acknowledge Peter's own power or abilities. They were wasted now anyway.

None of this spelled out good things for Yaxley. Unfortunately, he didn't think that he could simply pass the news onto Umbridge and bolt, leaving her with the punishment. Voldemort demanded to hear it from Yaxley himself.

The nerves had Yaxley even contemplating breaking Peter out of prison so that the man could bear the brunt of Voldemort's anger rather than Yaxley.

The fact that even as an infant like being, the dark lord could lift a wand and cause pain was frightening. Yaxley regretted ever giving Voldemort the wand. He hadn't thought he'd be able to use it at first but…when pushed, Voldemort had risen to the challenge.

Straightening his appearance, Yaxley mentally hyped himself up. He ignored what felt like eyes on him, assured that it was only his own imagination.

He had to try his hand at wooing Amelia again. Hopefully, she was in a good mood since the trial. She seemed pleased with the outcome. Yaxley would use that to wine and dine her then see if he could offer his 'help' with any recent projects.

With that, he was gone. It seemed to escape his current notice that his own shadow stayed behind.

####SCENE BREAK####

Voldemort was not happy.

Far from it in fact.

Day by day, he felt just a little weaker and he couldn't understand why. He blamed Dolores as she tried to essentially baby feed him snake milk and potions. Still, there was something else at play.

Was it the dark magic that he was now mostly created from? Voldemort couldn't be sure.

He could feel ripples of pain roll over him every once in a while, at totally random times.

With fear and paranoia growing daily, Voldemort made a vow. "As soon as I return to my body" he told Nagini in parseltongue. "I will check on…the others" he petted her head. He repeated to himself in English "The others".

"The others my Lord?" Dolores' girlish tones piped up. That reminded the tiny dark creature of her presence.

Despite her sour pout, he didn't respond. He did look at her, making her correct her expression quickly.

Once more in parseltongue he told Nagini "Perhaps I will let you have her someday" he said.

"To eat?" Nagini didn't sound too thrilled. "I do not think she would agree with me" came the counter.

"Hmm" Voldemort agreed. "Then just to kill" he perked up his scaly companion.

Now back to ignoring Dolores, Voldemort was once more lost in thought. There was no way he would reveal his horcruxes to someone like Dolores Umbridge. Not only was he debating how long her life would be once he had a body, but he also saw her as pretty basic. She didn't have much power magical wise. From what he had seen.

The only appeal she had was her hate and cruelty. Now that, Voldemort would admit, was inspired.

His mind went back to the horcruxes. 'There is no way the old fool found them. No one could' he told himself. 'Slughorn wouldn't tell. He was so wracked with nerves even mentioning them. He had so much time to tell, yet never did' Voldemort knew.

Then he had to wonder on that. True, Slughorn hadn't told on one of his favorite students. Yet. However, how did Voldemort that it would stay that way. He doubted Horace would ever willingly come forward with the answer. That didn't stop anyone else from dragging it out of him.

He wondered if Albus would eventually become desperate enough to torture the man or use a slyer approach of finding out the information.

"There is someone I need to find" Voldemort suddenly spoke. "When Yaxley arrives, we will send him out" he told the eager Dolores.

Horace had served up his purpose. Voldemort now needed to make sure there were no lose ends.

Settling back, Voldemort's thoughts soon went over that faithful Halloween night so many years ago. 'What had happened?' he was still wondering. Obviously, the Potter boy had at least begun holding up his part of the prophecy. Even as an infant.

But how? Was the prophecy over or was that just really the beginning. It felt like the beginning. Especially after Potter defeated him and Quirrell the year before. 'How the hell did he do that?!' Voldemort once more silently raged.

When it came to the Potter boy, Voldemort was always left with more questions rather than answers.

He wasn't even sure who told everyone that Voldemort had died, and that Harry had survived the curse. Who had done that? No one was alive to be a witness. Sure, the boy had a scar, but still!

That was a bit of a jump even for Voldemort. He was sure Dumbledore was involved. The old man always was when it came to Tom and Harry. Even when he shouldn't be. Voldemort often thought that Dumbledore never actually interfered when he should have.

However, he gave up on those thoughts and memories and what ifs long ago. Now, his focus was on Potter. The only one that could truly kill him.

When he had tried to kill Harry Potter as an infant, right before things went disastrously wrong, something else happened. Something felt…familiar. 'But that's impossible' Voldemort thought. 'Isn't it? I wasn't even trying' he cut his mind off as his thoughts went racing.

'No' Voldemort thought as Nagini wrapped protectively around him. 'This will not do at all. I will find the answers' he promised himself. 'And I will kill Harry Potter!'

####SCENE BREAK####

Dudley finally finished unpacking. It had been a few days now since his arrival at Potter Manor. He was given a nice modest room.

Petunia was in the room over.

He had just gotten out of her embrace once more. However, he didn't have it in him to totally deny his mother the action. Petunia kept having to assure her son that any tears on her part were tears of joy at finally having him with her once more.

Dudley had yet to see Harry, who was still in school. He had met the elves. Then he met Harry's good looking godfather Sirius Black along with a beautiful vampire woman named Alex Debree. He also met a handsome man with scars that apparently was Harry's uncle named Remus Lupin.

Petunia was excused from some of her duties to homeschool Dudley. Eventually tutors and the like would be hired.

Dudley was tasked with helping in the garden, though Sirius had given him plenty of time for schoolwork and some time for himself.

For now, Dudley would keep his head down and prove he wasn't going to be a problem. He really wanted to speak to Harry face to face though. To see his cousin and apologize. He did mourn his father, missing him, yet Dudley no longer had blinders on.

It was a lot to process. It had been a long hard process, but Marge had 'helped' enlighten him, though unintentionally. He no longer had friends, but as weeks became months he wondered if that was not for the best.

His 'friends' hadn't really been helping him, had they?

It was still a process, but now Dudley was doing his best.

At least he had his mother now. Dudley did love Petunia.

Sitting at his desk, Dudley pulled out his math book preparing to do some schoolwork.

As he drank from a small water glass, Dudley couldn't help but smile. If anything, at least he was free from Marge.

####SCENE BREAK####

Harry was in his full Master of Death persona.

He had built thrones and seats for his Queen and Knights. Everything was in shadows and with rock, floating.

He wanted to break down the veil in the ministry, but Hermione wanted to experiment with it further. If anyone could crack it, he knew it would be Hermione. Of course, the others were helping. Everyone minus Sirius.

Harry had forbidden Sirius from getting anywhere near the archway. The only way the man would ever see it was if it was destroyed and reconstructed into a chair. Sirius appeased everyone by listening.

The Knights set up was in a large though void like room due to the darkness. It was in a section of Potter Manor that had an extendable charm on it. This way no one who wasn't allowed in could just appear.

Everyone was seated in an almost mock-like setting similar to King Arthur's round table. Though the circle didn't go fully around as it opened to face the vast floor. All the Knights were present and dressed up. Remus, Sirius and Alex included.

George, Lee and Fred were standing, waiting as the room filled with a group of nervous looking people. There were quite a few with scars on them that reminded the boys of Professor Lupin.

The three boys were the only ones disguised with cloaks and hoods that totally masked their identities. Soon the room was full of different men and women, many were whispering to each other or looking up at the sitting cloaked figures nervously.

Tonight, was orientation. An invitation to join the Legion. There were different levels and stations within the Master's organization. Levels and the like that they would get into. Of course, the Death Knights were on top right under the Master and Mistress.

Harry didn't see anyone else reaching Knight level. But that was ok. That didn't mean they couldn't rise in rank and flourish. Every level was needed.

This group was those specifically sought out and invited in hopes of joining.

Legion wasn't just for wartime after all.

However, before any specifics could be discussed, the group needed to not only accept the offer, but then prove their worth and where they would flourish.

Though he still worried, Ron couldn't help but be proud that the twins and Lee actually showed up.

The Master of Death stood, still floating in front of his throne. That quieted the nervous whispers. In his enchanted voice, Master began "Hello all" he made sure he had everyone's attention.

"You have each been called here for a similar reason. You are all victims of the imposter lord known as Voldemort" he waited for the unease at the name to calm down. Still, the group on a whole dealt better with the name than others had had seen, making the Master give a hidden smile.

"Victims of Voldemort and the society that allowed him to thrive" he went on. "Either by trying to wipe you out or forcing you to join his ranks. Forced by either the threat of Greyback on your children or enduring torture of your loved ones by his followers" he saw many of the wolf pack shuffle anxiously at that.

"I offer you a chance today for retribution. Voldemort is not fully dead. He found ways to attempt to cheat me, though he is only prolonging the inevitable" Master dropped scaring quite a few.

They didn't want Voldemort to be alive. However, this group of people knew the danger of burying your head in the sand and fighting the truth, no matter how frightening it seemed.

"I will kill him. For good" the Master announced with confidence. "I will swallow his soul" came the almost growl in the deep voice.

The Master's voice held a power to it that many felt shake their very cores.

"I am giving you a chance to join me, both in warring times and also peaceful times" Master told them. "You and your loved ones will be looked out for. You will have a purpose, going on about your lives and following my rule when I call" he explained, giving a brief description. "I will not force you. If you decline, it will not be held against you. I am not asking you to follow blindly, I shall explain more to those who agree. Those who do not, you will be asked to leave. Simple as that. This choice is yours and yours alone to make" he announced.

As everyone mentally went over that, Master finished up "I will now give you time to deliberate on your own. When you have reached an answer, call my name and a way to message me shall appear. If you decline then change your mind or vice versa, tell me and that can be rectified" the Master ended.

That surprised many of the people. They had worried that this was just a new, possibly more dangerous version of Voldemort. However, so far that doesn't seem to be the case.

They'd have to wait to see if that continued to be the case. Words could be deceiving. Actions told the truth.

As the doors opened, showing an almost blinding light, the watching people realized that they were being excused.

People shuffled out leaving only a few.

The wolf pack was headed to their new commune. They knew their new Alpha and Beta were both Knights. They had spoken to them separately. Now they were headed off for a real meal then off to a real bed in a real home.

Very different yet welcomed.

The few that stayed behind had received written instructions to do so. The doors closed once more.

Besides Lee and the twins, those left behind were Severus Snape, Argus Filch, Charlie and Bill Weasley, and a man named Richard Umbridge.

Snape had only come because Albus knew of his invite and wanted a man on the inside. Albus didn't know about the curiosity that Severus tried to squish.

Luna knew such. She also knew that Severus kept looking at her hidden face. She may not look like herself currently, but she still gave off that same comforting aurora that Severus had began relying more and more on as of late.

Argus had been surprised to be invited. For her own safety, in case it was some sort of trap against squibs, he had left Mrs. Norris in his rooms.

"Mr. Umbridge" Master began. "I shall cut to the issue. We believe that you may be in danger due to your sister. She is trying to erase her past. You stand in the way of that".

Richard didn't look too surprised. "I heard she did a runner" came the man's gruff voice. He was also a bit round, especially in the belly. He did have a big mouth, though it wasn't as toad like as Dolores.

His appearance gave one of a worker. Someone who earned their keep and lived modestly.

However, unlike Dolores, the eyes hidden behind some tired and well-earned wrinkles were kind. They were a kind, yet somewhat stern brown that were vastly different from his sister's.

"Yes" the Master answered simply. He tried to hide his annoyance over the hiding Umbridge. "We would like to arm you with potions. If need be, we can find you and your family a safe location until she can be dealt with" the Master offered.

"What's the catch?" Richard had to know.

The Master titled his head. "You do not seek vengeance when I kill your sister" was offered back.

Trying to hide his shock, Richard got out "Fair" before clearing his throat a bit. Filch almost, almost felt bad. He had had the start of a crush on Umbridge, but then caught a bunch of her hateful mutters towards others like Flitwick. With that, he tried to stay away from her.

Besides, it didn't seem like the woman even really liked cats!

"Superb" the Master sat back down with arms resting on the chairs arm rests. "Bill Weasley" he moved on. "I have a good rapport with the goblins. They recommended your curse breaking skills. I recently came in contact with a few horrendously cursed objects. I would like your expertise in trying to find out if one or two can be cleansed without damaging them" Master explained.

After a moment, Bill asked "If I do, would that be accepting joining your ranks?"

"Only if you so wished" Master stated. "For now, it would just be a paying job".

With that, Bill shared a look with Charlie before nodding. "I'll look over whatever you need me to" Bill announced.

Ron hid a smirk. It was a bit funny seeing his older brothers like this while they had no idea he was there.

"Charlie Weasley" the Master stated. "We are working for a better world for all. That includes magical beings and creatures. We are in the process of not only buying the Gringotts' dragon, but creating a clause where they are unable to own another being and keep it in such torturous conditions" he stated. "I have heard of your ability with dragons. I would like you to take this one under your care" he explained.

Not even hesitating Charlie agreed. "When will he be ready" he worried. He didn't like the idea of anyone hurting a dragon. The idea that one was suffering just to protect some gold made his stomach sick.

"Hopefully by tomorrow night. I shall send a message with one of my Knights to allow you time to properly prepare once we know for sure. That is also when we will be able to properly identify the dragon's breed, age and total damage done" Master announced.

Of course, the group wanted Hagrid to join them. However, that would be beyond tricky for multiple reasons. For now, they worked with slightly more attainable individuals.

"Argus Filch" the Master went on. "We would also like to offer fair opportunities to squibs" he explained. "You have a familiar. That should be proof enough of a magical core. We require your assistance in creating an equal world" he stated.

Argus looked beyond surprised at that. No one ever really tried to include him in anything.

He didn't know what Neville had told the others. How Filch had tried to protect the children from the Carrows. It usually ended with him heavily tortured or having to watch a student or Mrs. Norris tortured. He had taken to hiding her in hopes of sparing his companion.

Still, he had done his best. Even if only a few students, the ones he tried to save, actually acknowledged this. He may have been a bitter man, but Argus was not a bad man.

Seeing them waiting, Argus gave a nod. "I will, uh, think on it" he finally settled getting a nod in return.

Now the Mistress spoke up. "Severus Snape" she called making the Weasleys' look at their professor, or former professor in Charlie and Bill's case. "We understand that you were manipulated as a boy. You made mistakes. This led to the death of one Lily Evans Potter" she said clearly.

Sirius and Remus had to clench their hands together from their seats in order to keep themselves quiet.

Severus was frozen. These people knew far too much about him. He managed to keep his calm, cool demeanor though just barely.

"You have tried, at least to an extent, to atone for this. As of right now, you have failed" Mistress laid out.

Severus couldn't stop himself from stumbling back a little at that. That had been like a strike to the face!

He tried to take a deep breath. Severus had to keep his cool.

"We are giving you a chance to atone properly" Mistress continued. "You will work closely with the Knight Billywig" she gestured to who she meant. "Should you choose to accept. Then you shall finally be free from both of your masters. There will only be the Master of Death" she went on.

With some amusement bleeding into her stern tone, the Mistress added "Please do give Albus Dumbledore our regards. Unfortunately, he was not invited, which means he is unfit to know any of our secrets. We apologize for the loss of the listening and tracking charms that he placed upon your person" she finished before leaning back slightly in her seat.

The other Knights snickered and chortled at that.

The noise, almost wind like, bounced around the room in an eerie fashion.

"We look forward to your decision. Until then, have a good day, gentlemen" Master dismissed the five.

The men all found themselves eager to leave in order to collect their thoughts yet yearning to stay due to curiosity.

Finally, they were out and magically sent out of the Manor and close to Diagon Alley. Dobby watched the departures, hidden from human detection.

Now alone, the Knights and their leaders dropped the disguises. That prompted Lee, Fred, and George to follow suit.

Harry introduced Sirius and Alex formally. The boys had met Remus not only at Harry and Neville's party, but as their new part time teacher at Hogwarts.

Lee only knew Remus from class as he had been too sick to attend the party.

"Seeing as you're here, I'm assuming you received Vivian's note?" Harry asked the boys getting nods.

"We want to help" Fred began.

"Anyway we can" George picked up as Lee nodded.

"You don't have to" Vivian tried to tell them, seeing the conflict playing over Ron's face.

"But we want to" Lee stressed.

"I don't' want you to lose your dream" Ron spoke up. "Fred and George, you had the best joke shop ever. Better than Zonko's" he went on. "You three were born to make people laugh. Not this" Ron tried to explain. He was almost begging. "Leave this to me".

"Not bloody likely" Fred and George said together. They looked equally indignant at the very idea.

Lee cut in. "Ron, you can't-. We can't-! We won't let you do this alone!" he declared.

"He's right" Fred cut in. "I know you think we're just childish idiots who-" he was cut off by a now upset Ron.

"That's not true at all!" he argued. "You're all brilliant but you haven't seen what I have! You've just heard us, but you haven't lived it. You don't know what it's like to actually kill someone! To watch as their life slips through your fingers. Even when they deserve it. How you have to live with yourself after. You're afraid about losing yourself as it gets easier and easier!" he continued now standing before them, shouting with hands clenched.

Tears tracked down his face.

Harry and Vivian went to his sides but didn't stop him. They shared a worried look.

"You don't understand, and I don't want you to! I want you to live free of that! I want you to have each other and not know what it's like" he shouted. A magical wind began to whip around everyone as Ron's magic reacted.

Seeing the three Weasley brothers getting worked up, Alex jumped down to offer her help. "I think I have a solution" she suggested. Seeing that she had their attention as Harry and Vivian worked to calm down Ron, Alex continued.

"Weapons and protection devices disguised as pranks. They'd make it so certain targets wouldn't see the threat coming" she told the group. "You'd be helping without having to see direct combat" she moved her hands in a win-win motion. "At least unless you're attacked" she sent an apologetic look towards Ron.

Neville agreed as he helped Luna down as everyone floated down to the floor. "That would also give us a lot of great distractions" he expressed. "We can get through searches with no detection".

"They'd think it was a harmless prank" Remus nodded. "It could work" he shared a look with Sirius who smirked.

"Hope you boys wouldn't mind working with the Marauders" Sirius added.

Fred, Lee, and George were now battling the urge to freak out over working with their ideals as they wanted to stay arguing with Ron. Even though Alex's idea had merit.

"They'd be totally unaware that it was something much greater" Luna helped drive home the point with an easy smile.

"We…do have some ideas that might work" George was the first to concede.

He saw Ron's tense shoulders start to ease.

"If that's what it takes, then we'll do it. But we're helping you, Ron. You're a little brother" Fred agreed. Sure, they gave him a hard time, but they loved Ron. Lee nodded showing he was on board.

The brothers all took deep breaths trying to calm themselves. "Then let's go to a different room, one preferably with a couch" Harry cut in with some humor. "We can work on getting it sorted" he took Hermione's hand. "Besides, we have to find out what Remus and Sirius did to Albus' candy".

"I put it right on top of his others" Neville said making Luna chuckle. "I just don't know what's in them".

Everyone noticed the almost feral smiles that Remus and Sirius now wore. "Oh, this has got to be good" Alex smiled.

####SCENE BREAK####

Filch and Snape both made it back to Hogwarts. Despite what he had been told, Argus worried over his invitation. 'What could I offer anyone' he thought a little depressed.

Both men made their way to the Headmaster's office. Mrs. Norris came bounding up to Filch, jumping and landing as he caught her in his arms. She purred, rubbing her face all over her human in order to mark him and show how happy she was that he was back.

"It's alright my lovely" Filch followed behind Snape, properly easing his pet. "You're so good to me. I'm alright" he held her lovingly.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Albus' voice called through the door "Come in".

The rotating stairs hadn't even fully finished moving yet. Once done, Filch followed behind a still stoic Severus.

The man hadn't spoken since the Mistress mentioned Lily Potter. Argus didn't question Severus over it. He remembered Severus and Lily Evans, not to mention the Marauders. They had been third years when he started working at Hogwarts.

He didn't feel it would do any good to question Snape about the girl who he used to spend so much time with.

Walking in, the men were greeted by Albus sitting eagerly behind his big desk. Fawkes trilled before tucking his head in for sleep.

The humans missed the look passed between Fawkes and Mrs. Norris.

"Ah, Severus and Argus" Albus said as if he hadn't been expecting them. "What news do you bring?" he questioned.

Severus was still somber. Filch shifted a bit from foot to foot. He had reported plenty of students for breaking the rules in the past. This was different, however. Though he wasn't technically in trouble, Argus had the unhappy sensation of a naughty child that had to come clean with an adult.

Mrs. Norris snuggled deeper against his chest.

Severus was the first to speak. "It was the Master and Mistress of Death" he spoke smoothly. "They asked us and several others to join their organization. He claims that Voldemort is not dead" he said while ignoring his own distaste over the name as Argus tried to hide a flinch.

"And his position on Tom?" Albus asked the burning question.

"He wants to kill him" Severus stated simply.

Albus looked a bit wistful while stroking his beard. "If only it were that simple" Albus sighed out.

Finally speaking up Argus ventured "He could probably do it Headmaster. The power that radiates off him, I've never felt anything like it" for once Argus didn't sound jealous. Instead, he was almost awed.

"Of course, my boy, of course" Albus smiled, his tone was almost dismissing if not condescending. "Argus would you please excuse us. I am sure Mrs. Norris missed you greatly" he said.

Albus didn't even ask if Filch knew why Death would request him by name. Nor did he ask if Filch intended to take the offer up.

With mutterings about how he was treated, which went ignored, Filch went off with Mrs. Norris tucked securely in his arms.

Mrs. Norris purred as he held her close. She really hoped her human liked the new friends she made.

Albus was trying to get any and all information out of Severus.

He distractedly ate some lemon candies off the dish on his desk. Albus was worried. There was this nagging feeling that Severus was hiding something from him. A most distressing thought.

Albus was surprised over what the Mistress of Death had told Severus about Lily. Though, Severus currently left out the point made about masters.

"They have a message for you" Severus informed Albus.

Albus perked up. Perhaps they wanted him to join their cause? Maybe they wanted his leadership? Albus hoped so. He could then learn about them while being able to use their resources for the greater good.

Severus continued, expression still one of impassive stone. "The Mistress says she's sorry your charms failed. They simply do not appreciate uninvited guests" he drawled out the abbreviated message.

Albus actually looked shocked. His mouth even parted slightly as his eyes widened.

Severus memorized the look. It was one he didn't see often on Albus, but in his current mood thought it was one that suited the older man.

"But" Albus tried to show his point of view. "I am only trying to serve the greater-" he suddenly stopped.

His face was scrunched up in the oddest fashion.

Severus took a step forward. He was concerned for Albus. What happened? What was wrong? "Albus" he spoke out loud inquisitively.

It was as if Albus had sucked on a particularly sour lemon drop. Then, his expression changed. The changes were so quick that had Severus not been watching with drawn brows and extreme attention, then he might have missed them.

First, he almost looked relieved, then that quickly changed to horrified.

Albus stood almost knocking over his chair and many things on his desk. Fawkes shot him a hidden look through his wing feathers. Then the phoenix settled back into sleep. Albus made a mad dash to his private bathroom.

He wasn't fast enough.

Severus had caught what looked like a dark spot on the front of Albus' light purple robes.

"Albus!?" Severus called out going to follow before hesitating.

"No!" was all Albus shouted back.

Some portraits began to titter or mock. Others muttered in disgust.

Severus did nothing.

He was thinking. This seemed awfully familiar. Severus was sure he had seen something similar before. For the life of him though, he couldn't pinpoint when or where.

Excusing himself to give Albus some privacy, Severus made his way to his chambers. Though his mind was still going over the night's events, Snape knew he had a big day tomorrow.

It was when Lockhart would officially try to take Vivian on as an apprentice.

Severus was going to put up one hell of a fight.

####SCENE BREAK####

"So, you need pranks to spy and distract?" Lee clarified from a couch.

"You lot had amazing gadgets. The twins ran the shop Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. This way you can still have that, and you would be helping out" Vivian told them. "It really was an amazing shop" she promised.

"It seems like just what the world needs" Remus agreed. "More laughter" he said as Sirius nodded from the chair by him.

That really filled the three boys' hearts. It was a dream come true.

"We just want to power jump a lot of the inventions. This time without testing on first years" Hermione said before seeing her red headed best friend's look. "Or Ron" she added to the others' amusement.

"With our help" Sirius added on.

Fred, Lee and George couldn't hide their excitement. Minus their little brother being an all-powerful killer, this was almost a dream come true.

"You'd be helping fight Death Eaters without having to actually combat them" Ron reinstated.

"Yet" Fred and George fired back, showing that they had caught on to what he was trying to do.

"Besides" Alex helped keep the focus. "You can help bring some of the other students around. Secretly scope out any talent or the like for the future. Help Harry and the others at school with making friends and connections" she pointed out. "Prepare them for any possible emergencies".

"We can use Lockhart's farce of a dueling club to restart Dumbledore's Army" Harry jumped in.

Remus scowled at Lockhart's name. He definitely wasn't the only one.

Vivian's face went tight. Ron looked to match the blank look Neville had mastered.

This was another surprise for Fred, George and Lee as they were so used to Ron showing his emotions.

Sirius put a hand on Remus and Vivian's shoulders with Alex whispering calming words. Luna and Hermione offered their own support. Neville and Harry did their best to once more calm down Ron.

"I think the dueling club will be full of opportunities" Luna spoke up. "I cannot wait for all of you to see Severus' progress. He is coming along beautifully. I hardly have to punish him anymore. Now he craves the knowledge I leave" Luna explained. "I can see us progressing to the next step of his lessons right on schedule" Luna told them proudly.

That confused Lee and the twins, but they guessed that eventually they'd know what she was talking about.

They were simply told not to mention Death Knights to Snape and not to look him or Dumbledore in the eyes.

"I'm excited to see" Hermione told Luna.

Neville gave a brief explanation to the twins and Lee, taking some pity on them.

"And" Hermione went on. "I thought of something in case that fraud makes Harry duel Malfoy again" she had a specific twinkle in her brown eyes.

A particularly scary one that made the Death Knights all buzz with excitement.

She had had that same look when first trapping an animagus Skeeter in a jar.

Vivian began to smirk with the others.

Alex's earlier words were doubled. This was bound to be good.

####SCENE BREAK####

It was late at night. Harry was sitting with Hermione in an abandoned classroom. Right now, it was just the two of them. Just a small moment between the two.

"And breathe in" Hermione instructed as they both inhaled. Their eyes were closed as they exhaled on her command.

Harry was attempting to channel his magic inward. He was trying to slowly reach out in an attempt to find Voldemort. He knew that Hermione and the others were right about being patient.

Yet, one could only have so much patience.

Harry's patience was wearing thin.

He knew that that was dangerous. He didn't want to rush into anything and ruin everything he had worked so hard for. Yet, he also didn't want to wait too long and then end up with the same results.

Hermione was attempting to find a sort of inner peace. In order to control many urges and her magic, she had to remain in control. Not to mention the need to control and eventually get rid of, or tone down one maniacal laugh.

With eyes still closed, Hermione reached out to the boy next to her and took Harry's work roughened hand in her soft hand.

Harry realized just how tense his shoulders had been before she touched him.

"Thank you" he said quietly.

"I'm always here for you Harry. I always have been, and I always will be. Even Death couldn't keep me away" she said in a soft voice, not seeing Harry's smile.

"You know" Harry teased, peaking an eye open and looking at her. His fake glasses were on the floor before him. "I think that underneath everything, you're still that eager little swat I met on the Express" he told her.

Hermione almost snorted, finally opening her eyes. "I doubt eager is the word most people would have used" she said.

"Hmm, brilliant but scary" he teased, using Ron's words.

Hermione chuckled with Harry as they looked at one another.

"I like it" Harry admitted, after a moment. Hermione looked down with a small blush. "I like that even after everything, you're still you. Still Hermione. One of the best people I have ever met. The one I fell in love with" he cupped her cheek.

Hermione was a little choked up. Not that Harry wasn't any better.

"You're still the speckled sweet boy with a hero complex that saved me from the troll in the girls' loo" Hermione told him getting an abrupt laugh from Harry.

It worked though. Harry felt both assured and relieved. No matter what, they were still them. He was still Harry, and she was still Hermione. 'I'm not evil' he told himself.

'No, you're not' Hermione mentally responded.

"I love you Mione" Harry told her.

She smiled, slowly closing her eyes again. "I love you too Harry".

The two began to meditate again.

Hermione spoke up once more "But flattery won't get you out of the next dinner with my parents" she mentioned.

Harry's grin grew. "Wouldn't dream of it dear".

####SCENE BREAK####

Azkaban hadn't been the same since the dementors left.

There were less screams for one thing.

Though, some of the guards took it upon themselves to keep the screams going. Not that they hadn't done the same when the dementors were there. Then Sirius had his trial. Many of the guards were taken in for questioning. If they were found guilty of touching a prisoner, then they'd have a trail of their own.

Only three hadn't been called in yet. The three worst of the worst. The wait, the worry of if they'd be next, it was wearing on them heavily as the day wore on. They had survived the Death Knight break in by surrendering and hiding in a corner.

Those three were Josh O'Neal, Gregory Maddison, and Terrance Johnson. Three honestly nondescriptive men that never made an impact on anyone physically, personality wise or magically. That's why they loved hurting the prisoners.

Then people, some of the most feared people in some cases, had to pay attention to them.

They didn't beat prisoners for justice. They did it for fun.

Sirius Black had always been the hardest though.

The handsome auror had always fought back. Even without a wand, they learned not to get too close. If he wasn't able to pull off unintentional wandless, then he'd resort to physical violence. Sure, they'd gang up three to one. However, even then when they'd leave the cell, they'd all be in need of healing.

Sure, Sirius was hurt, but he was not in a 'go alone' attitude. If he was hurt, then he'd be damned sure so were they.

Then some days it was like he'd disappeared. They didn't know he simply turned into Padfoot and sat in a dark corner.

Though Sirius had become malnourished and seemingly mad from the dementors, he was never a weak or stupid man.

However, there was one very efficient way to hurt Black. Though it wasn't a physical pain. They would simply give him extra time with the dementors.

"This place has really gone to the dogs" Johnson huffed to hide his growing unease. He finished cleaning blood off of his knuckles.

Even with the threat of exposure and prison, the men didn't stop. They needed a stress relief, and this was all they had.

"This 'ill cheer you up" Maddison gestured his chin to the three Lestranges' cells.

Now, in the usually secure walls of the prison, the three men felt untouchable. Yet…in the real world, they were cowards plain and simple.

They would have never challenged Sirius Black, even before he was accused of murder.

That went double for the three Lestranges. Not to mention how they had all run and hid whenever coming face to face with the Lestranges or other Death Eaters during the first war.

They never tried to help others. Hell, they didn't even try to help each other.

They just hid then acted big when the threat was long gone.

"Well, well, well" O'Neal called out as they looked in Rodolphus' cell. He was usually the quiet, stoic one. Getting a response from him always felt like a big win.

They were expecting a dirty, superior look before they'd drag out venomous words from the man. He always looked as if he was about to calmly murder someone.

Nothing.

No reaction.

Not even from the other Lestranges who would usually show their displeasure over someone talking to one of their own.

Nothing. Rodolphus was just staring calmly at the wall in front of him. He sat easily on his cot like bed, just sitting. Staring at nothing.

Confused, Maddison went over to Bella's cell and looked in. Like her husband, she was sitting calmly and staring at nothing.

Something was definitely wrong here. Bellatrix was never calm. She was always laughing or shouting at something. Even at herself.

Her doing nothing was somehow disturbing.

Still, the three guards pushed forward. They needed this! They were so worried about Black now being free. What if he reported them by name? What if he came back for retribution? What if he sent the Master of Death on them!?

These were all concerning thoughts. All terrifying. They were praying that others would be forced to take the fall for them, and that Black was too ashamed to admit he was targeted by them.

Now the Lestranges were ignoring them like they were nothing. It fried their already shaken nerves.

They continued to try antagonizing the most dangerous inmates as their egos took a hit. They needed a pick me up and they were determined to get it.

"Oi, Lestrange ya mad bitch" Maddison dared. He waited for the outrage. If there was one way to get a reaction from Rodolphus, it was when someone went after Bellatrix or Rabastan.

Still nothing!

None of them made any noise.

Were it not for the rise and fall of their chests, the men would have thought the Lestranges dead!

"The Dark Lord is dead and you're gonna rot here! The paper said he was a muggle" Maddison tried again.

Bellatrix didn't even twitch.

"He's the same" Johnson smacked the door to Rabastan's cell, still looking through the small peep slot in the door.

Suddenly, laughter from what had been Sirius Black's cell rung out terrifying the three men to their core. Slowly, they all turned to share scared looks. They were paralyzed in fear. Sirius had come back for them!

Through the bars on the door, a voice called out "It's just me. For now" came the singsong like taunt.

It was Pettigrew. They were reminded that he had been thrown in there earlier in the day after Black's trial.

Gaining some composure back, Johnson snapped out "What do you want filth" as he led the other two to look in at Peter through the bars on the door.

As they walked, Peter took up the act of singing "Dead men walking! Dead men walking!" putting them further on edge.

It sent fear to the three men's black hearts.

"Shut it" Maddison demanded.

Yet that seemed to only produce more laughter from Peter. He began playing with the bottom of his prisoner shirt. He bore eerie similarities to a child that was bashful, yet excited over a secret.

An unnerving sight to say the least.

"They won't answer you know" Peter moved a little side to side breaking the men out of sharing more uneasy looks.

"What?" Johnson demanded.

"They won't answer" Peter insisted in a whiny voice. "Not yet" he rolled his eyes.

"What the bloody hell do you mean yet?" the seriously spooked O'Neal asked.

Peter scooted forward a little before looking around. Then he leaned in whispering. "They're waiting for him. He's coming" Peter then sat on the ground crossed legged.

"Who damnit!?" Maddison shouted.

"Voldemort" Peter said as if it were obvious. The name was said as if it was the simplest of surnames, no fear or awe in Peter's tone.

Though shaken, Johnson pressed on. "What rot. The Dark Lord is dead" he insisted.

Peter laughed hysterically.

"Shut up or we'll make you shut up" Maddison threatened angrily.

More laughter was the reply.

"Better try now before they get you" Peter sang with no concern for himself.

"Who is gonna get us. Is-is it the Dark Lord?" O'Neal was almost full-blown panicking now.

Peter only smiled before crawling backwards into an unlit portion of the cell.

"Damnit, come back here" Johnsen went to demand when there was suddenly a familiar chill in the air.

"Too late" came Peter's whisper.

"It's-It's just dementors. The animals probably came back for more souls" Maddison tried to excuse to his companions as none of them felt able to turn and look.

"Well, they aren't alone" a deep voice made the threes blood run cold.

Peter held himself.

Slowly, Johnson turned. His breathing picked up as he took in the three cloaked figures floating, looming before them.

They were Death Knights, though the hoods were simply black and made them indistinguishable from one another.

However, the men remembered the tall figures from the night they broke Black out. They were thin, almost like dementors though that was only based off of their hands since the cloaks also made their body shape impossible to make out.

Yet, their appearances were deceiving as they were ungodly strong; physically and magically.

O'Neal tried to shakily hold his hands up. He hoped that if he surrendered then he would once more be spared.

None of the men could even properly use their brains to try to reach for a wand.

Maddison was shaking so badly that he had to reach back to grab the wall to balance himself. He accidentally let a whimper escape.

"You-you aren't sup-supposed to be here" Johnson managed to get out in a near whisper.

"Funny" the one in the middle spoke. "I thought the same thing for years" it noted.

The one on the right raised a boney hand sending the men's wands flying only to snap midair and fall to the ground.

The men jumped from the movement.

The one on the left sent out a yellow shield to keep the men trapped in with them. They did all of this wandlessly and nonverbally.

There was a small group of dementors floating behind. They were watching with a not so hidden hunger. However, they held back waiting for the orders from the center one, their new assigned leader.

"We aren't Death Eaters" O'Neal was practically in tears. He really hoped that those were their only real targets.

"No, you're just sadists" the right one hissed angrily.

"Cowards hiding behind a badge they don't deserve" the middle one picked up.

"Dinner" the left one hummed.

An acidic scent soon wafted up making the three figures let out noises of annoyed disgust.

Maddison had pissed himself. Now his fear battled the embarrassment, though there wasn't anything he could do. He couldn't run or hide.

"Gross" the left one muttered in their distorted voice.

"Typical" the middle one huffed.

"Well," the one on the right clapped his hands together once. "Let's begin".

"No, please" the three men's begging was cut off by the center one.

"You should feel honored" he told them. "Thanks to tonight, we will officially be full-fledged Knights" he said happily.

With that, the figures descended on the screaming men as the accompanying dementors watched on in silent glee.

Four hours later the bruised, burned, broken and now soulless though alive remains of Johnson, Maddison, and O'Neal were left on the floor in front of Peter's cell.

With the damage they had taken there was no way the three guards would make it to morning. No matter how good the healer was, if they were even found in time to make it to a healer.

Sirius, Remus and Alex had all made sure of that.

As they left, Peter waived goodbye to them.

Gliding out of Azkaban, the three new Knights could feel the ritual finishing.

The power surging through them was amazing!

They were finally full Knights!

Leaving the dementors to sniff out more guilty guards that had yet to be questioned, the three took off for the sky.

Laughter and play fights left them as they shadow traveled in the sky to the Manor.

They couldn't wait to show Harry!

####SCENE BREAK####

The next day saw Vivian in the Headmaster's office. Remus was standing by her side for support.

Lockhart was throwing a hissy fit while Snape looked close to actually killing the blonde.

Albus looked tired. It was as if something heavy were weighing him down.

"I wanted her first" Lockhart whined with an actual foot stomp.

Remus and Severus both looked enraged, almost feral in their anger over the man's audacity.

Vivian could only imagine Ron's expression from under the invisibility cloak.

"I don't want to be your apprentice" she spoke up sharply. "I don't want anything from you. I don't even like you as a teacher" she went on. Those big green eyes were now narrowed in contempt.

Albus began speaking before Lockhart could. "It would seem that young Miss Lupin has already made her decision, Gilderoy. If she would prefer to mentor under Severus, then that is her right" he steepled his fingers.

Though he spoke calmly, his expression was gravely serious.

Right now, the position was between Severus and Gilderoy. Vivian had simply not wanted to be anyone's apprentice, yet that had not been in the cards. So, if she had to do this, then she'd rather it be Severus.

She may not have trusted him, but she definitely trusted him more than she did Lockhart.

Not to mention he actually knew what he was teaching and had earned his masters in potions.

Unfortunately, Remus wasn't an option. She would have loved to have her father as her mentor in the eyes of the school system. However, due to the war, his depression after, and then harsher laws for werewolves, even ones not registered, he had been unable to finish the masters in Defense that he had been working towards during the first war.

Technically Lockhart had a masters. The problem was that like most of his achievements, it was a fake and received under false pretenses.

A fact that the curse on him made Gilderoy tell the room.

Albus sighed. Whoever had cursed Lockhart had obviously been watching him. Many of Albus' attempts to get around the curses and jinx had been either removed or worked around. Not something he was used to people being able to do.

Attempting to further tamper with the magic had proven to have disastrous results for Lockhart.

Things had started off almost in a joke fashion. He had wondered if another unknown party had taken advantage of the situation to have their own fun.

Albus would have even suspected the Weasley twins and Lee Jorden had it not been for the charms' progression.

On top of everything else that happened to him, Gilderoy had a new issue.

He was rotting. It was almost like Lockhart was suddenly a leper.

Pomfrey already had to regrow his nose and four of his toes. What was worse was that Lockhart could feel everything. He could feel himself rot. It was like some sort of accelerated rotting jinx. Like a horrific version of the aging potion or something.

It was a level of magic Albus had yet to come across, at least this specific strand and order of jinxes. He was sure it was dark magic, but what if it wasn't? What if it only reacted to Lockhart's own misdeeds?

Albus had no way of knowing.

'Truly disturbing' Albus thought.

He did have to wonder if the spells affected Lockhart's mental capacities as well. At least that would explain a few things.

"You don't mean that" Lockhart tried to coerce Vivian by stepping closure and trying to charm her with his smile. True, the makeup and wig were momentarily working for him. However, Vivian still thought Lockhart looked like he was a candle of a man who was melting.

Lockhart couldn't get around the noticeably angry Remus.

Vivian had to hold onto the back of her father's suit jacket to calm him as some lights around the room began to flicker. Remus' newly enhanced powers were trying to react to his emotions.

Remus managed to reel his emotions in. Not easy, but he knew he had to. The lights went back to normal.

Albus looked around briefly while thinking of reasons for the fluctuation. He wondered if it was Vivian. Perhaps she was afraid of Lockhart and used some accidental magic.

As the adults continued arguing, Remus and Severus for once on the same side, Vivian tried to analyze the unpredicted side effects from the memory locks on Lockhart.

None of them had anticipated Lockhart's sudden fascination with Vivian. They couldn't compare it to the previous timeline because she had never met Lockhart then. Would this have happened before if they had? They had no way of properly knowing.

Vivian had been fully prepared for Lockhart to keep his distance due to her affliction. Yet, it was as if he simply ignored that aspect of her now.

None of the Knights were happy with these unknown side effects.

"I do mean it" Vivian cut in with crossed arms from her seat. It was hard not to snap out further at the man but momentarily she had to act her age.

Remus was more than happy to handle this for his daughter.

"I'm a fraud" Lockhart tried to convince, still unaware of his own words. "A charlatan, pervert, and predator. Why wouldn't you want me to mentor you!?" he just couldn't understand it.

Remus spun to face a now even more morose Albus while still shielding Vivian.

"Do you hear this Albus?! I mean do you actually hear this man!?" Remus demanded.

"If anything" Severus cut in with obvious anger just under his skin. "He should be with a mind healer, not around children" Severus stated. To show the man's incompetence he added "And now he wants to duel me" he spoke over the upset Lockhart.

"Well at least after Severus destroys him then people may start paying attention to what's coming out of the fool's own lips" Remus insulted Lockhart.

Severus was both surprised over the use of his given name and the technical compliment but ignored it for now.

Albus held his hands up. "I have asked Alastor to bring in a mind healer since it is too dangerous for Gilderoy to leave the castle" he announced. "I fear that if I continue to try and undo the damage, I may end up doing more harm than good" he told them. "We need a trained professional".

"I don't' need a mind healer" Lockhart insisted from the side of the desk. He didn't want updated news about his appearance getting out of Hogwarts. "Besides, the dueling club was Flitwick's idea" he was unable to steal credit. "I need to show the students that I am unable to beat Snape" Lockhart insisted, still unaware of the truth coming out of his mouth. Even if he didn't think him being able to take on Snape was the truth.

Dumbledore rubbed his eyes from all the double talk. His glasses were on the desk momentarily discarded.

"I chose Professor Snape" Vivian cut in. "That's it. Shouldn't that be enough" Vivian tried not to get upset herself. "Why isn't my want what matters here" she saw Albus send her a sad look as if he understood her.

No one noticed the silent portrait of Lockhart watching from another painting. He worriedly looked between everyone.

"I agree" Severus stated as Remus crossed his arms showing he was standing with Vivian's choice.

Lockhart almost ripped off his wig in frustration.

Leading Vivian to stand, Remus stopped to turn back to Lockhart. "If you come near my daughter, I will kill you" he said matter-of-factly.

"You're threatening me" Lockhart placed a hand over his heart in disbelief.

His painting nodded, smacking a palm into his hand as if he too could get in a few hits on the man he was made to reflect.

"I'm promising" Remus countered. Vivian looked proudly up at Remus, holding onto his hand before peeking at Lockhart from around Remus. She then stuck her tongue out at the blonde who further gasped.

"Headmaster, do you hear this" Lockhart looked to Albus for protection.

Shaking himself Albus looked at Lockhart as if coming out of a daze. "Oh, I do apologize dear boy. I was lost in thought, miles away. Heard what?" he feigned confusion.

Spinning to see Snape's slight smirk like sneer, Gilderoy realized that he had no support. He didn't dare challenge Remus head on. The man was too talented and powerful. Not to mention obviously well liked.

With a dramatic cry, Lockhart fled the room in tears. Ron followed from under the cloak. He trusted Vivian with Remus.

Ron had to write an anonymous tip to a certain reporter before the dueling event was to take place.

After signing off on being mentored by Severus, Vivian and Remus made their way down the tower.

"Is it wrong being eager to see Snape thrash Lockhart in front of everyone?" Remus asked Vivian jokingly.

Vivian chuckled back. "If it is then I'm in trouble" came her reply.

"Come on Kiddo" Remus began leading Vivian towards the kitchens. "I think we deserve some chocolate cake" he told her.

"Have I ever mentioned that you're the best Dad ever?" Vivian beamed up at him warming Remus' heart.

"Well" he pretended to preen. "I already knew that, but it is nice to hear" he tweaked her nose earning giggles in return.

Remus and Vivian enjoyed an extended lunch and tea in the kitchens.

####SCENE BREAK####

Alex looked at the three Lestranges with Sirius at her side.

"So…" she took in their appearances. "They're house elves now?" she asked summing it up.

"More or less" Sirius nodded.

The three shrunken beings still had all their signature facial hair and mass of locks.

They really just looked as if a bunch of elves tried to play dress up as evil wizards. A weird sight to say the least.

That same hateful glare resided in all three of the now bulbus set of eyes.

Alex couldn't help but think that these were the nastiest, ugliest elves she had ever seen. Which was saying a lot because Alex usually thought all elves were cute, even the surprised Kreacher.

Not these three though.

It was as if their evil, twisted souls now twisted their new forms.

Alex thought it was definitely one of the top ten most disturbing things she had ever seen. She had had a long life, so, again, that was saying a lot about the Lestranges' 'makeover'.

"Watch your tongue, you filthy half-breed" who used to be the tall noble Rabastan shouted. It was more of a hiss due to the fact that the pitch of his voice was higher now.

Sirius sneered at the transformed wizard who tried to still hold himself like a normal man.

"What?" Alex asked, her wide cat-like eyes managed to grow in size as it looked like she was fighting off a cough.

Sirius looked over and realized the problem. Alex was trying not to laugh.

It was a losing battle. That made Sirius begin to chuckle which soon evolved into a full-blown laugh.

"How dare you laugh" Rodolphus showed his own ire, umping their amusement. The dam finally fully broke when Bellatrix let out a cackle, voice even higher than the men.

She then tried to threaten, "Perhaps someone should teach you had to speak to your betters".

Sirius and Alex were laughing so hard they had to hold onto one another now for support.

A smirking Kreacher stood just out of vision, watching.

Besides physical attacks, the Lestranges couldn't do much. The curse that Orion Black had been working on had not been complete. It changed a person into an elf in appearance only. It could not bestow them with elfish powers. That was something too complicated for the prejudice wizard to even being to work out before his death.

In order to stop any magic from being wizards and a witch, Luna had helped Sirius make an ancient, outlawed binding potion. The Lestranges were then force fed it daily. It wasn't specific if only one dose would be enough to be permanent or not, so Sirius figured there was room for risk and continued the potion use daily.

None of the Lestranges could do any magic. Right now, they thought it was the dungeon they were in binding them. They thought the potions were to continue to force them to keep the elvish form.

Winky and Petunia never had to deal with the Lestranges. Kreacher was more than happy with the chore as Dobby popped around doing whatever was needed. He took his duties as head elf very seriously.

"Wow" Alex finally gained some control over herself. Taunting Bellatrix she said "Not a proper witch. Not a proper elf. Just what the hell are you?"

The three tiny beings began shouting over one another angrily. The magic of the room still kept them all but glued to the floor unable to attack.

"I don't think we'll torture them" Sirius swung an arm around Alex's shoulders. "They aren't worth any real effort" he insulted his cousins. Going to lead Alex out, Sirius mentioned "Maybe if they're good, Harry will let them see their sorry excuse for a lord before Harry devours his soul" he shrugged, still keeping her in his grip.

Alex wasn't complaining.

The two ignored the high screams from the Lestranges that that sentence produced.

Kreacher used magic to shut and lock the dungeon door.

He stayed hidden to watch over his 'charges' as they tried to once more plot Sirius' downfall.

Sirius led Alex up the stairs to the main floor of Potter Manor. She now had an arm around his waist.

"Petunia seems to be in good spirits" she mentioned the woman who was busy helping Winky prepare lunch. Petunia was smiling and talking with her tiny companion.

"Hmm" Sirius hummed in agreement. He gestured his chin towards a window leading to the backyard. "I think that's why" he mentioned.

At a nice table in the shade, Dudley was diligently doing his homework. Petunia kindly asked Winky to pop over some lemonade for her son, which the elf did happily.

Dudley thanked both women, though he was doing his best to not let Petunia baby him.

It was almost as if he was afraid to fall back on old habits. Like he was afraid to be the boy he had worked so hard to leave behind. He didn't mind being home schooled. He got to learn at his own pace to make sure he understood everything.

Dudley was a bit quiet now, trying to find himself.

Harry was a bit worried in his letters home. He never saw Dudley so tame, even when the boy came around and branched off to being a better person.

Alex tried to ease Harry. She suggested finding programs for squibs. That way Dudley could make some friends. There weren't many, but there were a few decent programs out there. If you knew the right people.

It was something else Harry wanted to work on opening up to everyone.

Alex was also in charge of making new programs. Hopefully Filch would take them up on their offer and lend a helping hand in that department.

Harry felt that people like Filch should be just as included in the wizarding world. It was their world as well, even if some wanted to deny it.

Squibs deserved the same chances as everyone else.

"Well, I think it's nice that he and Petunia both seem happy" Alex said making Sirius look at her. He was learning that under all her teasing front and the like, Alex was very kind-hearted. At least, to those that warranted such compassion.

Alex took Sirius' hand and began to lead him upstairs.

To the rooms. Her room to be precise.

"Uh, Alex" Sirius tried to hide any excitement or nerves. He wanted to do right by Alex. He wanted her to be his woman, not a fling or the like. He was worried about messing up and losing her before he even had her.

"We never got to properly celebrate your freedom, did we?" Alex played with a button on Sirius' shirt.

She undid the button. Now there was obvious mischief in those big green eyes.

"Well" Sirius had to clear his throat trying to focus and not get lost in that gaze. Looking away did no good as his eyes automatically went to her bountiful cleavage. "No, we didn't but I want to take you out. I was planning on asking you tonight" he tried to get her to see his sincerity. "I think we've gotten to know each other quite well, but I want to know it all. I like you" he told her.

He held her hands at their sides.

Before he could go on, a happy Alex leaned up and connected their lips. She was kissing Sirius.

Sirius was unable to help himself. He jumped into the kiss, holding Alex tightly as the kiss deepened.

Slowly, Alex pulled back. She smiled softly while continuing to peck his lips.

Eyes still closed, Sirius blindly tried to follow to keep their lips locked together.

"I like you too Sirius" Alex revealed making him smile widely as he finally opened his eyes. She had to catch her breath at the heart-stopping attractive sight. She really liked him looking at her like that.

As if she was the only thing he saw.

"Yes, by the way" she told him softly with arms around his neck and shoulder. "I'll be your girlfriend. I'm yours" she smiled as his grin became blinding like the sun. He spun them around making her laugh.

"Well, now that you've fallen for my devilish charms, which you had no chance again, sorry Love" Sirius teased. "How about we go for another kiss or two. I'd love to have a proper snog with you. Even if it's in the broom closet" he wiggled his dark brows.

"Hmm, come on" Alex got out of his grip, using her speed to get up the stairs a bit before looking back with a come-hither look. "Come on" she said again. "Good boy" she dragged the words out with obvious meaning.

"Oh!" Sirius ran after her. As Alex dodged, running ahead, Sirius eagerly picked up the chase. If he had a tail right now, then it would be going wild.

Not that Alex was much better.

Having Sirius chase her as she playfully evaded him was beyond exciting and arousing for both of them.

"Come on. Show me what you've got Siri" she used the nickname.

"You asked for it" he playfully growled, finally catching her before pulling her in for another deep kiss.

Alex giggled, kissing him back as they stumbled back into Alex's room like randy teenagers. Neither were complaining. It was a heady feeling, touching one another.

It felt like a 'finally' moment for them both. As if everything had been leading up to this.

Thankfully for the rest of the Manor, the two remembered to silence the room.

They were missing for the rest of the day.

####SCENE BREAK####

Albus sat in his office waiting. He had requested Harry's presence. Then he'd speak to Remus and Vivian, all one on one. He had tried to contact Sirius by sending a letter to his lawyer, Miss Debree, however, he had yet to receive any reply.

He was going to question everyone.

Albus knew that the Master of Death had freed Sirius. Given that Sirius had then managed to contact Remus and through him Harry, and by a lesser extent Vivian, that made Albus wonder if they would have any information on the Master of Death.

After all, Harry and Vivian were Black's heirs along with Rectus and Remus watching them. Caring for them. He had found little information on Lord Rectus Latronem.

He was finally getting around to questioning everyone.

He needed to not only have some leverage with the Master, but know the man himself. Albus was sure that whoever was calling themselves the Master, along with the Mistress and all the Knights, all had proper identities.

He just had to figure them out.

Then he'd figure out if they were good and how they could help the bigger cause.

True, they had killed people which greatly saddened him; however, he was sure that he could redeem the Knights.

Everyone deserved a second chance.

A knock on the door brought Albus out of his musings as he finished up another lemon drop.

"It is the Potter boy" the hallway portrait reported.

"Thank you" Albus responded. "Come in Harry" he called out, already looking over his half-moon glasses with a little smile.

Harry walked in, pushing his glasses further up his nose as he gave the Headmaster a subdued and bashful look. He sat on the chair that Albus gestured for him. "Professor McGonagall said you wanted to see me sir" Harry fiddled his fingers. "I'm not in trouble or anything, am I? Ron said no but Hermione was worried" he questioned.

"Should you be in trouble Harry?" Albus asked though it was said with gentleness.

He'd let Harry think he knew something, giving the boy a chance to confess to anything.

"Well" Harry sighed looking a bit disappointed. "I did go to the kitchens after curfew" he admitted looking ashamed. "But I couldn't sleep and Vivian and I like to meet up for coco when we can't sleep" Harry tried to explain his actions.

Albus gave that kind smile.

"That is quite all right Harry. Your secret is safe with me" Albus eased the young hero. "You and Miss Lupin seem to get on quite well. She is an exceptional student" Albus went on.

"She's my sister. I always wanted a sister" Harry beamed up with such joy that Albus' heart felt for the boy.

Despite the plans he had, the ones the saddened him and the unfinished ones, he couldn't help but find some gladness in Harry's moment of joy. Even if Albus feared it wasn't meant to last.

Albus had called this meeting for a reason though.

"Harry" he began letting his tone show how serious his next words were meant to be. "The man who…liberated Sirius from prison" he began.

Harry looked properly curious about what Albus was getting at.

"Have you ever met him?" Albus finally asked.

"You mean the Master of Death?" Harry asked making Albus nod. "No sir" Harry denied with a shrug. "I only met Rectus, then Remus and Vivian. Then Sirius came in after Rectus told me the truth about Sirius and him and Remus knowing my mom and dad" Harry paused looking off a bit. He was obviously saddened due to the topic.

Albus rubbed his beard thoughtfully. He thought Harry had unwittingly helped him after all. "Rectus introduced you to the others" he needed clarification.

"Yes sir" Harry nodded.

"I have not seen Lord Latronem in quite some time" Albus mentioned. "I understand that Sirius made you and Vivian his heirs" he went on. "Remus adopted Vivian. Did Rectus spend any time with either of you" he asked Harry.

"Oh yes" Harry nodded. "We'd eat together and he'd tell these wonderful stories of traveling the world" Harry signed looking off as if lost in a memory of one of the stories. "He's very nice" Harry quickly added.

The last time Albus could remember seeing Rectus face to face was before he had tried to get Remus and Sirius to rejoin the order.

Albus was still using Grimmauld Place as his headquarters. It became obvious after a few visits though that Sirius did not live there though.

No one did.

Albus had wondered if Sirius lived with Rectus along with everyone else in some hidden location. However, seeing how Sirius acted around the young vampire woman Alexandra Debree, Albus had to wonder if Sirius had taken refuge with the gorgeous red-headed woman.

Albus was sure that wherever Sirius was, Remus wasn't far behind. No owls or elves had been able to reach either of the men. They had been the ones to contact Albus. The only time he could send them anything and get a response was when he'd used a owl service hired by Rectus.

They had not made themselves readily available to him.

An experience that he hadn't faced in a very long time.

They had also held their ground and not gone back to the Order of the Phoenix.

He never got a response from Rectus on joining. Since Sirius' trial, he had wondered about asking Miss Debree. He'd have to watch her a bit, learn about her to see if she'd be a good fit.

That was something else Albus hoped to speak to the adults about. If the Order really was coming back, whether to fight Voldemort or the Master of Death, then Albus would need the best of the best.

He needed Remus and Sirius back.

'Could Rectus be a direct link to the Master?' Albus stroked his beard in thought. 'Or' another idea struck him. 'Was Rectus the Master himself?' he had to wonder.

The man had seemed so lovely and bright. Cheerful and strong. A perfect candidate for Albus' Order. Yet…he did just seem to disappear into thin air.

"Do you know where Rectus is Harry?" Albus finally spoke out loud. He was grateful that Harry seemed content to let his eyes wonder Albus' office as he waited for the Headmaster to speak.

Harry looked regretful, striking green eyes now holding a sad spark. "No sir, I'm sorry" he answered.

Albus was tempted to peek into Harry's mind. He managed to fight off the urge for now. It was a thought he found himself having more and more since that summer.

"I wish I knew Professor. I haven't seen him since school started" Harry revealed. He looked so disappointed in himself for being unable to help Dumbledore.

Albus gave Harry another gentle smile. "That is quite all right my boy" he assured. "If you do hear anything" he looked over his glasses once more. "Please do not hesitate to tell me" he offered Harry a candy.

Harry politely declined. Unable to resist the urge to see the candies in effect, Harry asked "Is-is something wrong sir?" looking at Albus worriedly.

He knew nothing could be tied to him. Yes, someone mentioned the chamber being open, but that was all. Nothing else about the chamber had gotten out. He fed the basilisk who didn't bother any students.

Despite what Draco and his lackeys kept trying to spread and hope for, no one had been attacked.

Vivian had reported that Narcissa was worried about Lucius. He seemed beyond distracted and anxious as the term wore on. However, Narcissa didn't admit the truth of why to Vivian.

She was trying to shield her daughter from the truth.

"Nothing you have to worry about Harry" Albus assured him. "Leave this to the adults. We can handle everything" he said before having a sense of a déjà vu from Harry's first year. Albus tried to shake the thought off.

Harry realized he'd have to wait to see someone else's memory of Albus being pranked. Hiding his disappointment Harry sighed "Yes sir".

"Good" Albus said excusing Harry. Just as he made it to the door, Albus called out. "Oh and Harry" he waited for Harry to look at him. "I enjoyed our talk. If you ever feel the need to talk about anything, my door is always open" he assured.

Harry gave a nod before walking out. He ended up bumping into the ascending Remus.

"Hi Uncle Moony" Harry greeted the older man. There was a mischievous spark in his green eyes that Remus had seen countless times from both James and Lily. He also saw the spark in Sirius' eyes and wondered if that was really who Harry inherited it from.

It seemed to escape Remus' notice that he had the same spark in his green gaze.

"Hey Pup" Remus sent back his own playful conspiratorial wink, ruffling some of Harry's wild dark hair as they passed each other. He chuckled at the grumbles that left the boy as Harry then had to work on wrestling his hair back to how he had it.

Harry made it to the hall, hands in his pockets and looking for his friends. They'd eat, finish school then meet up that night for meditation.

Remus knocked on Albus' door, getting the go ahead to enter.

Seeing Albus pop another lemon drop in his mouth, Remus had to fight off a truly marauder like smirk. He did have to wonder if Albus remembered a similar prank Remus' sixth year. The Marauders had gotten back on a group of Slytherin boys that had ganged up trying to send Dorcas Meadowes to the hospital wing.

She had held her own bravely and when she had to spend a week with Pomfrey, she told Remus that seeing all those Slytherins run in and try to embarrassedly hint to the problem is what helped her actually recover.

The memories brought a fond yet sad smile to Remus' face as he took a seat.

"How can I help you Headmaster" Remus greeted. He wondered if this was about his and Moody's lessons. It seemed like all the students, or at least most of them, really enjoyed the classes, despite what house they were in.

Remus hadn't even thought it would be fun to teach. Yet so far it has been an amazing, rewarding job. Especially since he got to see his kids all the time.

Remus believed that if he had the option, he'd like to become a full-time teacher. Moody also praised his lessons and how he interacted with the children.

"Hello Remus. I have heard nothing but praises over yours and Alastor's classes" Albus congratulated him. "I believe you may have found a new career" Albus hinted.

Remus seemed to deflate a little with a smile. "I'm glad. I was worried that I wouldn't be good at it. I enjoy it. The children make it worth it" Remus said.

"They do" Albus nodded his agreement. "I do find that the best teachers are those who were also the best troublemakers in their day" Albus joked making Remus chuckle. That grew when Albus tapped his nose stating "Just ask Minerva". Albus chortled at the slightly surprised look that Remus couldn't hide.

Remus wondered just what Minerva was like in her school days. Before he could get too caught up in thought, Albus continued. "There are some important subjects that I must discuss with you, however".

"Is this about Lockhart" Remus grew serious. "Is he being taken in by the Ministry or Saint Mungos?" came the question.

"Sadly, no" Albus admitted while taking his glasses off to briefly pinch the bridge of his nose. "The healer is busy signing papers with Gilderoy's agent" Albus said. "Seeing as he is not apparently contagious, the healer suggested that in the meantime we try to allow Gilderoy to at least attend a dueling club event in hopes of both lifting his spirits and making him hopefully a bit easier to deal with" Albus went on.

Remus' eye briefly twitched before he corrected it. He couldn't believe it! Why wasn't Lockhart at least taken out of Hogwarts!? 'They'll lock Sirius up no questions asked but Lockhart-' Remus had to stop that line of thinking and take a deep breath.

He didn't want to accidentally cause another storm. One had started after he left the meeting with Vivian. It had taken Hermione to realize that it had been tied to Remus, though she assured that it was doubtful that anyone else would make the connection.

"He shouldn't be around children" Remus settled on. "Why are you catering to him Albus?" he just couldn't make sense of it.

"I am obligated to try and make sure that he is not simply an innocent man fallen victim to vicious curses" Albus tried to explain his position.

Remus shook his head. "Curses don't only affect the innocent" came Remus' retort.

Albus sighed tiredly again. He felt as if he had done quite a bit of that as of lately.

Deciding on hopefully safer territory for the moment, Albus brought up the other issue at hand. "With the recent Death Knight attacks" he saw how unimpressed Remus was with the change of subject as Remus crossed his arms, leaning back. He resisted the urge to pull out a piece of chocolate from the pocket of his modest, though new, suit.

Albus continued on "I am officially reopening the Order. I shall continue to use Grimmauld Place as Sirius has allowed it. I need to know if the Death Knights and their Masters are friend or foe. We can't have another Voldemort" Albus paused to check Remus' reaction.

Remus nodded somberly.

"After all" Albus went on. "No one has been able to fully interpret their messages yet. I wish I could claim to be close, but I currently have no way of knowing if I am even on the right track" he said.

Remus kept on the grave, serious expression with mind properly shielded. "Perhaps it is a mixture of languages?" he offered up.

Albus nodded thought fully.

"Hopefully they can be allies" Remus agreed. "If not an unconventional one" was added.

Getting to the point Albus offered "I was hoping that you and Sirius would reconsider coming back to the Order. I was hoping to also ask Rectus and Miss Debree" he suggested.

Remus shook his head. "I'm going to have to decline Albus" Remus told him in a quiet, yet firm tone. "And I believe I can speak for the others. We will not be joining" he stated.

"So, you will not fight for the cause should the need arise" Albus asked sadly.

"If I must, then I will" Remus cut off the Headmaster's hope. "But it will not be on your orders" Remus told him. Remus soon dropped some hard truths on Dumbledore. "As a student, I held you in such high regard. You gave someone like me a chance. That meant the world to me" Remus told him. "But then…" Remus had to look away for a moment.

"You failed me. You failed my family" he told the now hurt Albus. "Those missions, making me get closer to the very thing about myself that I hated. Sirius, James, Lily, and Harry" Remus listed. He didn't have to expand. These were all reasons Remus and Sirius had listed before when officially withdrawing themselves from the Order.

"Whether you meant to or not, you failed us. I can't speak for anyone one else, but my family was never the same after that" Remus finished shaking his head and looking down with eyes briefly squeezed closed.

"I truly am sorry" Albus tried to instill sincerity in that sentiment.

"I only hope that you have learned from the past Albus" Remus said seriously as he once more looked at the man he used to idealize. "I know I have" was added. After a moment of silence, Remus questioned "Was there anything else Headmaster?"

Coming back to himself, Albus had to ask Remus about the Master of Death, even if asking such now pained him. "As the Master of Death is the one to have freed Sirius, I must know if you have ever met the man" Albus asked.

"Unfortunately, no" Remus denied. "If I did, I would shake his hand. He did more for Sirius in a single night than anyone else had done for him for the last twelve years" Remus stood. "Albus" he bid farewell, walking out of the room and leaving a now slightly defeated Dumbledore in his wake.

Still, Albus had to force himself to hold out hope. If he could just convince Sirius, Rectus or Alex, then he was sure that Remus would follow. It was a farfetched hope that he felt he had to cling to.

He'd send word to Snape to speak to Vivian when she was alone with him. Then Albus could question her himself.

With that, Albus sent off another letter requesting to speak to Sirius and Alexandra Debree. He sent the letter through the owl service that he had found out was hired by Alexandra.

Getting back to Hogwarts' business, Albus popped in another candy looking for some kind of comfort.

He was fairly disappointed when night came and there was still no reply owl.

####SCENE BREAK####

Neville and Ron were tinkering away. Luna and Vivian were busy finishing up their first private lesson with Snape. Luna had been invited, albeit very quietly, by Severus.

Neville and Ron were trying to finish up the Voldemort dummy. They were also taking bets on the coming up Lockhart verses Snape duel.

Both thought that Lockhart would lose. How badly and how quickly, now that was a good bet!

"I can't wait to see Fudge and Dumbledore's faces" Neville chuckled with Ron. The blonde boy gave a distracted small smile which stayed on his face.

Seeing Neville's expression, Ron couldn't stop his own half grin.

After a moment Ron ventured "How are they? Your mom and dad I mean?" he wondered.

"Great" Neville's smile brightened. "They're both talking. Mom's catching up a bit quicker than dad, but I'm not worried. They both recognized both me and Gran…and Luna" Neville said happily.

"This weekend I'd like to take you all to properly meet them" he almost sounded bashful.

Easing any worry that the other boy may have had, Ron easily replied with "I'd like that" he assured.

The two happily went back to tinkering.

Before long everyone came in to greet them in the Room of Requirement. Alex, Remus, and Sirius used the shadow power to appear in the room. Sirius and Alex kept sending little smiles at each other.

They kept biting their lips and looking away or wink and wiggle their brows. Secret, knowing looks continued passing between the two.

Remus knew he'd be hearing Sirius' versions later. With how Alex treated him so far, like the longtime friend she knew him as, Remus realized he'd get both sides. He was more than scared he'd be scarred over what he'd hear.

Seeing the couple was pretty amusing. Especially since they didn't seem to notice that everyone else noticed.

It also went noticed how close Alex and Sirius stuck together.

The Knights and Mistress all got into a circle around Harry. Then they sat down, keeping him in the middle.

"Are you sure about this Harry?" Vivian voiced her concern. Before he could retort she added "I don't want to lose my brother". It was said in a small, vulnerable tone. Ron wrapped an arm around her shoulder, though he kept quiet showing he agreed.

Remus and Sirius soon jumped in. "I couldn't stand that Harry. It'd be too much, for all of us" Remus claimed.

"I-I couldn't lose you too Prongslet" Sirius spoke up, for once living up to his namesake. Alex reached over and took his hand. He held onto her for dear life. She let him while reaching over to also rub Remus' shoulder in understanding.

Looking around, Harry realized that the sentiments were all the same. Hermione looked close to tears with Ron and Vivian.

Not to mention Sirius and Remus.

Neville looked stoic, trying to control his emotions which spoke volumes. Even Alex had lost her smile.

"We love you Harry" Luna told him. "You made us all a family. Not the Master, but Harry" came her airy tones. A tear escaped her as Neville reached over and took her hand.

Seeing his loved ones so worried about him touched Harry. His expression softened greatly. "I love you. Each and every one of you" Harry promised looking from face to face. "You really are my family" he told them. "A real family. The first I can remember loving me. Fully at least" he thought of the dreams of Lily and James that were always just out of reach from his waking mind. Even now.

"And you're all here with me in the first place that really felt like home" Harry fought off becoming too emotional. It was a losing battle. "And I refuse to lose any of you again! Voldemort has made it his mission to destroy me. He knows hurting you would hurt me, even if he doesn't know your names. Since none of you will let me do this alone or forget about me" he had to pause at the protests from all around the room.

Obviously, the idea was shot dead.

"In some cases" he looked at Remus and Sirius, "He succeeded. He helped make me the Master, even unintentionally" Harry said.

"You were destined for that Harry" Hermione told him. "No one has ever been able to do it like you. That's fate" she said.

He looked at her sadly. "That's why we came back" he reminded. "I have to try to end this sooner rather than later. The sooner he's gone, the sooner all of you are safe. I want to protect you. Voldemort has to die. He's always managed to almost break me down, even in his death. People carried on with his beliefs and their attitudes. Nothing really changed. It was like he wasn't really dead, just mocking me" Harry insisted.

"I need to at least try to find him. I can do this. I can as long as you're all here with me" he insisted. "With you sharing your love and trust, I know we can do it. I just need you to believe in me" he practically begged.

"I know it's dangerous. It's a double-edged sword. If I wait too long, there's still the risk of something happening and I lose one of you. If I rush, then I risk ruining everything we've done to fix things" Harry showed he understood.

"But I can at least try" he knew they wouldn't leave him.

Every time he had tried to leave for their own good, each and every member had refused to do so in their own way. They refused to let Harry go on alone.

"Just…believe in me" Harry reinstated once more looking at Ron, Vivian, and Hermione.

"We do believe in you mate" Ron promised. "Always have" he said while discreetly wiping under his eye.

Hermione took over "But don't fault us for being scared for you Harry. You can't stop that. I love you and with that comes a fear that something is going to happen to you. That would be true even without Voldemort. I will never go away" she instilled with Ron and Vivian quickly echoing her.

The others jumped in to agree and promise the same.

After a moment, Harry smiled softly.

"Don't try to fight us loving you Harry. You won't win" Hermione told him seriously.

Small smile still on place, Harry nodded. "Wouldn't dream of it dear" he said making her give a watery chuckle. "Alright" Harry compromised. "Tonight I'll just start a basic search. I'll try to find a direction at the very least. I won't push myself too hard or for too long. Alex can time me" he offered. "And I'll listen when she tells me" came the promise.

"Damn right you will" Alex gave her own smile, adding a mock stern look to the others. "Or I'll sic the others on you, especially Ron, Vivian, and Mione" she claimed. "The rest of us can watch the deserved thrashing" she teased.

"Noted, mother" Harry sent her a sassy look which she returned.

With the atmosphere finally eased some, everyone focused.

They were going to allow their magic to flow and aid Harry. Not an easy task. Especially since they had to still reel the magic in to an extent. Letting go completely would be disastrous for everyone.

Alex asked the room for a timer, which she turned, nodding to Harry to begin.

With that, everyone channeled their core and slowly allowed it to seep out towards Harry.

Harry began to put himself in a deep meditative state.

'Tom Riddle' he thought, preparing to astral project. 'Reveal yourself to me' Harry mentally demanded. Harry's consciousness raced up and out of the castle, looking over the grounds of Hogwarts.

With that, he tried to feel out for the soul matter he knew to be Lord Voldemort.

The hunt was on.
