Chapter 1: The 2 Broke Boys
Inside a run down apartment, a skinny man that has blue eyes with a buzzcut that's wearing pajamas with a robe on him comes out of his room and goes to the kitchen to make some coffee, he yawns. "Jason, I'm making some coffee this time, because the last coffee you made was just mostly ground." He yells while opening a cabinet and grabs a coffee bag then starts making some coffee.
A minute passes, then another man with brown eyes that's medium weight walks out of his own room, he has brown hair that's medium cut with a beard, what he's wearing is a gray t-shirt and a pair of green boxers. "Great, I need to get some caffeine in my system." He says and can't wait to get some coffee, but he sees his friend giving him a disappointed look on his face. "What?" He asks with confusion in his tone.
The buzzed head man just shakes his head. "Are you forgetting something, Jason?" He asks while pointing down at his friend's boxers.
Jason looks down at his boxers and just shakes his head. "Nope, just don't feel like wearing pants." He says while sitting down on a chair beside a dining table. "And plus the air conditioner is broken again, we need to tell the landlord about that, if he's not drunk, high, or better yet maybe both." He says while his friend sets down a mug with coffee in it. "Thanks, Alan." He says and starts to drink his coffee.
Alan just shrugs and sits down also in front of Jason. "Well, what do you expect, we do live in a crappy apartment building, people would fight over something, I mean come on everyone it's just a street, it belongs to everyone. Oh yeah we need to also tell the landlord about the bullet holes on the floor and ceiling again." he says calmly, while drinking his coffee and enjoying the taste.
Jason just shakes his head. "I swear, ever since you convinced me to move to New York with you. But when we got here we're out of money already." He says while putting his hands up in the air. "The only money we have left is six hundred dollars. The only thing we could afford now is a crappy apartment that rent is one hundred dollars a month, and the only food we can get is ramen, potatoes, and off brand canned food." He says as he takes another sip of his coffee.
Alan is offended a little. "Well excuse me, Mr. There's no place like home, people from Texas keep saying that New York is a New Life." He defends himself. "And plus we got a great view from this apartment." He says leaning against his chair while taking a sip from his coffee and thinking won the argument.
Jason just shakes his head. "Alan those people were announcers from a college, that's their job, they come to the high school where we used to be custodians and they tell kids a bunch of bullshit stuff to blind kids of the reality, they should really make that illegal about lying to the kids." He says but then gives Alan a deadpan look. "And for the 'the great view' from the apartment is a brick wall from another building that makes an alley where the homeless are at, and I saw one of them masturbating and we made eye contact." Hey says making his friend spit his coffee out in his mug.
Alan sets his coffee down slowly and grabs a napkin and wipes his mouth. "Oook, didn't want to hear that when I'm trying to enjoy my coffee in the morning." He says while shaking the thoughts about the horny homeless out of his head. "But what about our small business we have, I thought that's doing well?" He asks while talking about their business.
Jason scoffs and gets up from his chair. "Alan our CauseMorgan's services is not big enough, who in this city is gonna call." He says, but then his phone starts to ring and answers it. "Yes, that's us, we also can do that too, what's the address? Alright thanks for calling CauseMorgan services." He says as he hangs up the phone and writes down the address, then he turns towards his friend.
Alan raises his eyebrow in confusion. "Who was it?" He asks, wondering who called.
Jason just sighs. "That would be our new customer." He says while sitting back down and then takes a sip from his coffee.
"And?" Alan asks, wanting to know the answer.
Jason just sighs but smiles. "And he wants us to deliver a cake from a bakery to a birthday party for someone." He says, while finishing his coffee then starts to get up and goes toward his bedroom to get ready for the job.
"Welp here we go." Alan says, as he finishes his coffee and goes to his bedroom to also get ready.
Two minutes have passed, Jason and Alan are on the sidewalk walking to their destination in their casual wear. Jason is wearing black t-shirt, blue jeans with a black belt around his waist and a pair of blue tennis shoes while Alan is wearing a black cap, a green button up shirt that's completely open with its sleeves rolled up, under it is a gray t-shirt, a pair of blue jeans with a brown belt around his waist and a pair of brown cowboy work boots.
"So, what's the pay after we're done with this job?" Alan asks while still walking while wondering what the pay is gonna be.
Jason just shrugs. "Don't know, he didn't say. All he said was go to a bakery that he ordered a cake from, pick it up and deliver it to him." He says while he and Alan are passing through some people. "Whatever it's cost, I hope it's a lot of money." He says hoping that the job pays well.
After eight minutes of walking Alan and Jason reach their destination. "Ok, we're here. So all we're gonna have to do is to go inside the bakery, pick up the pre-ordered cake and deliver it to the guy who hired us." Alan says and just shrugs. "Sounds simple enough." He says to which Jason gives him a deadpan look which he notices. "What?" He asks, a little confused.
"You just said something that will jinx us." Jason says with an irritated tone in his voice then he points at the bakery. "And there better be a wooden table, door, wall, or a counter, that i can knock, so we can have some luck for this job." He says while starting to walk towards the entrance of the bakery.
Alan just shakes his head. "Oh come on Jason, it's not gonna be the end of the world with what i said." he says while walking with his friend. They enter the bakery and come up to a wooden counter with the cashier behind it. "Hello miss we're here to pick up a pre-order cake." Alan says while giving the cashier a smile while Jason is knocking on the counter.
The cashier smiles. "Sure thing sir, what is the name for the cake?" She asks, but then she notices Jason still knocking on the counter. "Um, is he alright?" She asks, wondering why he's knocking on the counter.
Alan just looks at Jason with an annoyed look on his face, so he taps Jason on a shoulder making him look. "We are in public." He whispers making Jason stop while giving him an eye roll. Alan looks back at the cashier. "Sorry about that, but the name for the cake is Robert Smith." He says making her nod, so she goes to the back and to get the cake.
Three minutes have passed and the cashier comes back with a white box. "Here's the cake, hope to see you guys again." She says with a smile on her face and gives the box to Jason, which he grabs it and starts walking to the exit.
"Thank you and you too." Alan says while following Jason behind. "Welp we got the cake now all we have to do is to go to the destination and drop the cake off and get it delivered." He says while reading the paper with the address on it.
Twenty minutes now both Jason and Alan are running away from a crazy homeless man with a broken bottle as a weapon and all he's saying is 'give me that coke'. "The hell is wrong with homeless people in this state, and where did he get the word with coke from cake!?" Jason yells in panic while still holding the boxed cake as he runs. "We would have avoided this if you hadn't given him those quarters, Alan!" He yells with an irritated tone in his voice.
"Well I'm sorry, he looks like he needs some money!" He says in panic while running with his friend. Both Jason and Alan turn a corner to escape but Jason runs into someone knocking both of them to the ground while Alan stops and checks on his friend. "Jason, you ok?" He asks in a worried tone.
Jason lifts up his upper body a little. "Yeah I'm fine, just bang my head a little." He says while being a little dizzy, but he notices something. "Um, Alan, when does concrete start being soft and squashy all of a sudden?" He asks while being worried about what he's feeling under his hands.
Alan is just shocked and shakes his head. "Sorry to tell you this buddy, but that ain't concrete that you're touching." He says while still being shocked at what he's seeing.
Jason looks down to see what's under him, and under him is a beautiful woman with dark brown hair, blue eyes that shine like two diamonds, her attire is a black jacket with a yellow waitress outfit under it that shows off her curves with two bright red lines going down to her skirt and a pair of brown leather high heel boots. But then he realized something, both of his hands are on both of her large breasts. Surprise what he did he gets up real quick with his face being shocked while his hands are up. "OH MY GOD! I am so sorry ma'am! And are you ok!?" He says with a panic tone in his voice but sees that the woman is still on the ground. Then he sticks his hand out for her to grab which she did.
The woman just rubs her to get the pain out. "Yeah I'm fine, not the first time having a guy knock me down on the ground and then starts to grope me." She says not really caring what just happened to her. She looks for something and finds her brown leather purse laying on the ground with the white box beside it, she picks them both up. "So what were you guys hurrying anyways?" She asks, looking at Jason's brown eyes while putting her purse on her right shoulder.
Jason is lost with her beautiful blue eyes. "Umm, well to be honest we were being chased by a drug addict homeless guy, because he thought we're carrying cocaine but we actually have cake that we need to deliver." He says while still in daze by her beauty, but realizes something with his eyes go wide. "Cake? OH GOD WHERE'S THE CAKE!?" He yells in panic while looking for the box.
Then Alan taps Jason on the shoulder making him look, to reveal that he has the box. "Don't worry, man i got it before you even notice it's not in your grasp." He says with a smug look on his face, just knowing why his friend took so long to realize the cake wasn't in his grasp. But then Alan hears the yelling from the homeless man making him widen his eyes, then he grabs his friend by his right arm, and starts to run while pulling his friend.
Jason just looks at the woman and gives her a wave good which she gave back while having a little smirk on her face. After running for about ten minutes and losing the crazy homeless man, now they're walking in a nice neighborhood with Alan still holding the box of cake. "Man I can't believe this day, a homeless man was chasing us." Jason says while shaking his head.
Then Alan just just gives a teasing smirk. "And you knock a woman down on the ground with you on top of her and having a feel on one of her melons." Hey teases, making Jason blush in embarrassment. "Be honest, were they soft and most importantly are they real?" He asks while still having a teasing smirk on his face while making his friend blush even more.
Jason is just walking in silence while still embarrassed of what happened, but then he shakes it off and looks at his friend. "Well to be honest, Alan, that was an accident because we were being chased by a crazy homeless man." He says trying to defend himself. "And yes they're soft and they are naturally big real." He says while smirking at the memories.
Alan slaps Jason's left shoulder playfully. "You perv." He teases.
Jason laughs. "Hey, you're the one wanting the truth and plus you're just jealous." He teases back.
Alan just shrugs. "Guilty." He says making both him and Jason laugh while still walking to their destination.
After walking about ten minutes, they finally reach their destination. "Alright we're finally, so let's get paid." Jason says, walking up the stairs with Alan following behind him. When coming up the door, Jason knocks on the door.
After a minute of waiting a man opens the door. "Yes?" He asks, wondering who the two men are.
Jason gives a smile. "Hello, you must be, Robert Smith, we got the cake you've ordered." He says making the man widen his eyes.
Robert smiles. "Finally, I was worried that my grandpa's birthday would be a bust." He says while sighing in relief. "Please come in, I'll get my wallet to pay you one hundred dollars." He says opening the door wider to let them in. Jason and Alan enter the building and let Robert get his wallet. After two minutes of waiting, Robert comes back with his wallet and pulls out a one hundred dollar bill and gives it to Jason. "Alright and let me take this off you guys hands." Robert says while grabbing the box of cake from Alan's hands. "Alright can't wait to give this to grandpa." Hey says with a smile on his face while opening the box to look at the cake, when he does his smile fades. "Um, what hell is this? This better be a joke." He says with an angry tone in his voice.
Jasson and Alan are now confused. "What's the joke now?" Jason asks not sure what Robert is implying. So Robert turns the box around to show them, to their surprise instead of a cake in the box there are a bunch of cupcakes in there.
"I want my money back, because you idiots got my order wrong." Robert says while still holding the box full of cupcakes.
Jason got irritated from being called an idiot. "Well to be honest jackass, I don't think this is our fault, I bet it's the cashier from the bakery, she's probably the one you should be mad at." Jason says with an irritated tone in his voice while defending himself and his friend.
"Don't be ridiculous, I've been going to that bakery for three months and they never got my orders wrong ever since." Robert says defending his favorite bakery shop. "Now, give me my money back dumbass." He says with anger in his tone while about to grab the money out of Jason's hand.
But then an old man enters the scene. "What's going on here?" He asks, wondering if everything's fine.
Robert calms and smiles at the old man. "Oh nothing grandpa, just these mess-ups to leave because they messed up your birthday, because they brought the wrong order." He says while showing the cupcakes to his grandpa.
The grandpa's eyes lit up. "Cupcakes, how did you know I love cupcakes?" He says while getting a vanilla cupcake and eating it, he melts from the flavor and points at Jason and Alan with a smile on his face. "Now these boys know how to get a perfect birthday cake, pay them extra for giving me the best birthday ever." He says while patting Robert on the shoulder and then starts to walk away.
Robert is just shocked at what just happened and so is Jason and Alan. Robert clears his throat getting their attention. "Well umm, I guess this is the best accident that ever happened." He says while pulling out a fifty dollar bill and giving it to Jason with the hundred dollar bill. "Thanks for the service. And can we just say we just forget what just happened, alright?" He asks, just wants to go back to the party and forget everything.
Jason and Alan both nod their head. "To be honest I don't know what you're talking about." Alan says, pretending to forget.
"Yep, don't know why I was mad." Jason says also pretending. He gives Robert a smile. "Have a good day sir, if you need anything from us again, we'll be there." He says giving Robert a card and both him and Alan start to leave the apartment.
It's about to be night time, with Alan and Jason are on the streets of williamsburg at Brooklyn in silence. "Well that was a crazy event." Alan says finally breaking the silence.
Jason just nods. "Yep." He simply answers while still walking. Then he looks at Alan. "What did we learn today though?" He asks, making Alan look at him.
Alan just rolls his. "To never say anything that might jinx us." He answers with a sarcastic tone, but he smirks. "But at least that jinx got you some luck." He teases making Jason look at him.
Jason rolls his eyes while chuckling. "You're not gonna let that go, are you?" He asks.
Alan just shakes his head. "Nope." He answers simply, making him and Jason laugh together.
Jason's stomach starts to get hungry. "I'm getting hungry. What about you?" He asks while both him and Alan stop.
Alan thinks about this a little and then realizes he's also hungry. "Yeah I could eat." He says and then he starts to look around to find a cheap place to eat. "But where are we gonna eat anyways?" He asks while still looking around.
Something caught Jason's eyes. "Maybe that place has some good food over there." He says while pointing out the direction of what he's looking at, making Alan look.
In front of Jason and Alan is a diner called The Williamsburg's Diner, Alan just shrugs. "Yeah that could." He says as both him and Jason walk towards the diner. When they get close enough they both enter the diner.
When Jason and Alan enter the diner, it's not really have a lot of people in there, but it's enough, so both of them go towards two stools and they sit on them to be close to a counter with cupcakes in a glass container with Alan on the right stool and jason on the left stool. A minute has passed and then a waitress, that's the same woman from before, comes up to them making Jason widen his eyes while Alan is looking at the menu, while she looks at Jason with a grin on her face. "Well if it ain't the man that groped me." She says while leaning against the counter to show her breast to him which looks at the ceiling. "Come back to have another feel and steal my cupcakes again." She asks, making him look at her with a confused look on his face.
Jason raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean I steal your cupcakes?" He asks, wondering what she's talking about.
Alan widens his eyes in realization he taps Jason's shoulder making him look at Alan. "We switched the boxes by accident when you crashed on her." He explains.
Jason widens his eyes and looks at the woman who's now crossing her arms. "I'm so sorry if I stole your cupcakes and ran into you." He apologizes.
The woman then raises an eyebrow. "Aaand?" She asks while at her breasts.
Alan just laughs while Jason just sighs. "And I'm also sorry for grabbing your boobs." Jason says while blushing from embarrassment.
The woman smirks in victory and laughs. "It's all good, I was just yanking your chain." She says, making Jason sigh in relief. "But the cupcakes will be a different story, but thanks to the cake, Caroline found another old geezer to celebrate his birthday, probably his last." She says rudely but not really caring.
But then a beautiful blonde haired woman with blue eyes wearing the same waitress attire but with a necklace with pearls around her neck and she's wearing a pair of brown high heels shoes. She looks at the dark brown haired woman with a shock look on her face. "Max, you can't say that, that's really rude." She says, giving Max a disappointed look.
Max just shrugs. "Eh, whatever." She says, but then uses her pencil to point at both Jason and Alan. "Caroline, these are the cupcake bandits." She says, but then she points at Jason with her pencil. "Be careful with this one, he gropes." She says with a teasing smirk on her face making him roll his eyes but he smirks also.
Caroline looks at both Jason and Alan with a glare with a glare but mostly at Jason which makes him nervous. "Well, thanks to guys Max over here had to go back to our apartment to make more cupcakes, while I had to give that cake to an old man that's actually his birthday. BUT YOU!" She says but aggressively points her finger at Jason which makes him jump a little. "How could you grope a woman, she's a human being, you know." She says with an irritated tone in her voice.
Jason raises his hands up. "But it was an accident, and I apologized to her." He defends himself while pointing at Max, then he looks at Alan for support. "Right Alan?" He asks hoping that Alan will help.
Alan just shakes his head. "Don't get me into this, I'm just a cupcake thief." He says while looking at the menu again.
But Max puts her hand on Caroline's back. "Calm down Caroline, don't want you to get Oleg out here so he could watch a catfight." She says calmly. "But he did apologize, so everything's good." She says which calms Caroline down, but she looks at both Jason and Alan. "So what can we get you boys?" She asks while she and Caroline get their notepads out to take Jason's and Alan's orders.
Both Jason and Alan look at each for a moment and they nod in agreement so they both look at Max and caroline. "Me and my friend both want a cheeseburger with french fries and two waters to drink please." Jason says, making both the women write down on their pads.
After taking the orders Caroline gives both Jason and Alan a smile. "Alright, that will take five minutes to get prepared." She says but then points at the glassed cupcakes. "Would you guys like a free sample of the cupcakes so you can wait for your burgers?" She asks hoping they could try the cupcakes.
Both Alan and Jason shrug their shoulders. "Sure/ I'm down." They say at the same time.
Caroline smiles and looks at Alan. "Alright, what flavor do you want to try, Sir." She asks
Alan points at a vanilla cupcake with white frosting on top. "I would like to have that one please, but you can call me Alan." He says while giving her a smile, making her blush to see his wonderful smile, so she gives him his cupcake and goes to the kitchen.
Max then looks at Jason. "What about you groper, which cupcake is your taste in women?" She asks while messing with him.
Jason just rolls his eyes and just smirks at Max which she gives back. "My name's Jason by the way and I would like that one please." He says while pointing at a dark chocolate cupcake with dark chocolate on top.
Max nods and gives Jason the cupcake he wants. "Alright here you go, and I'm not you mom, so none of that please and thank you bullshit stuff alright?" she says, making Jason nod which she smirks. "Alright we have an agreement, now if you excuse me I'm gonna check the other customers while Caroline takes care of you guys with your food." She says while walking towards the other customers to take care of them.
Both Alan and Jason look at their cupcakes. "Hey, Alan?" Jason says.
Alan looks at Jason. "What up buddy?" He asks, wondering what Jason wants.
"Do you think this will be our regular dinner to go to everyday?" Jason asks while both him and Alan look around to have a good look at the inside dinner. "But I sure hope so because this place looks like the only place to afford the food." Jason says while enjoying the view of the dinner but his eyes lands on Max as she's busy with a customer.
Alan just smirks at his friend knowing what he's staring at. "Well I say you are right my friend, because this place seems to be the right one to hangout and have some coffee." He lifts his cupcake up towards Jason. "Here is the greatest discovery for our hangout." He says jokingly, giving out his smirk.
Jason just chuckles and lifts his cupcake up to Alan's and they both clink. "Here, Here." He says with a joking tone, and they both laugh. Minutes later Caroline comes up to them and gives them their burgers and drinks and tells them to have a good day which they both thanked her and tell her to have a good day also. Both Alan and Jason sat on their stools just enjoying eating their dinner.
