[A/N: and now onto the Prologue.]

It was a beautiful night in the city of C/N (city name). The sun was almost out of sight over the Horizon and people were heading home, ready to call it a day. You were heading home from another boring day at work and couldn't wait to kick back and relax.

"What should I have for dinner?" You asked yourself.

You continue to walk until you hear. What sounds like screaming coming from one of the streets close to your home. Normally, you'd want to just let this slide, but… Curiosity got the better of you, so you decide to go see what's happening.

To your surprise and shock, upon arriving, you spot a blazing, burning building right in front of you and multiple people have just evacuated from that building, but there was one lady who was getting all hysterical trying to get inside, but was being held back.

"NO I have to get in! My baby's in there! My baby's in there! SOMEBODY PLEASE SAVE MY BABY!!!" The lady shrieked.

In that moment… your instincts kicked in. You stare up at the burning building clenching your fists tightly.

"No baby gets left behind." You says to himself.

Taking the big risk, you rushed past the people and inside the building, catching their attention.

"SAVE MY BABY, PLEASE!!!" The lady pleaded to you.

You make it inside the blazing inferno. To keep yourself from inhaling too much smoke, you wrap your shirt around your mouth and look around the 1st floor. The fire was roaring out of control, but you kept going not giving up on this child.

You then hear what sounds like a baby crying… coming from the second floor, so you rush up the stairs to find it. You can hear the sounds of the baby's cries for help and Rush inside one of the rooms… and there it was, laying and it's crib, crying as the flames slowly approach it. You rush in and grab the poor kid and hold him close to you.

"Shhh, it's all right. I'm gonna get you out." You said to the baby.

Taking a deep breath, you head out the door and rush downstairs and just when you thought you were home free, the front door was blocked by the collapsing ceiling. The babies cry only got more intense, but you refused to give up. You look for another way out, and then lock eyes with one of the windows.

It's closed shut, but… there's only one way to open.

"If there ever was a time I need my strength… it's now!" Y/N said to himself.

With all your might and determination, you let out a battle cry and kicked to the window, breaking it into pieces. But the opening was only big enough for the baby to escape.

The woman ran over to the open window, looking worried.

"Here! Grab your kid!" You shouted, as you eases the baby to the woman.

The mother reached out, and by some miracle, she safely, got her baby back in her arms.

Woman looked relieved started crying tears of joy* "Oh, my baby! Thank you so much!"

But there was no time to celebrate. Due to the opening you made, the ceiling now blocked the exit through the window. You looked around to try and find another way out. Heading to the back, you hope there might be a way out through the backyard.

And there is, an open window, but just as you're about to run towards it, you get pinned down by some of the debris. You try to get out, but you're not strong enough. The fire is burning out of control, and the building is about to collapse on top of you. At this point, you can barely keep yourself awake and begin to cough.

No one was coming to save you, they were too scared to rush in and who knows when the firefighters will get here. It seemed like this it was the end of the road for you. You should be scared, but… somehow you're not and you accept your fate. Seeing no other way out of this, you close your eyes, lay down and drown out all other noises around you and play the song in your head… Smiling.

("Lift me up" by Rihanna)

As you hear the song in your head, everything around, you begins to surround you even more, and eventually, you are crushed by more of the debris… ending you.

And just like that, everything went black. You're not sure how long you've been out since you got hit, but you didn't care, because for the first time in forever, you feel so comfortable, drifting away in an endless void, feeling weightless and free.

Meanwhile…*

Back at Pete's world, the young Web head is currently decked out in his regular Peter Parker clothes, walking around the public streets. It was peaceful and quiet, aside from the honking cars and the people chattering while walking on the sidewalk.

Parker was about to go and head into an alleyway to change into his spider suit, but then… his spider sense started tingling.

He turns around quickly and sees a speeding truck heading down the street and a woman and her child are about to get turned into street pizza for no one steps in on time. Pete had no time to change and ran out there without even thinking.

"LOOK OUT!" Peter shouted.

The truck tries to stop, but the brakes didn't stop fast enough. Pete pushes the mother and child out of the way, but in turn, he's bashed by the truck and get sent flying 30 feet away. Poor Pete winds up hitting the back of a taxi and falls to the pavement unconscious.

Screams rang out throughout the city. Little did anyone realize that on that very day, Peter Parker… Had officially save someone for the first… and final time.

Peter's unconscious soul now drifts off into an endless abyss, not knowing that his life is about Peter Parker and Spider-Man has come to an end… but little does he know, your soul is about to clash with his and eventually, the two souls merge into one. A strong, bright light shines within the darkness, that the two of them become one, and for a brief moment… You felt yourself regaining your consciousness.

Opening up your eyes, you notice the ceiling above you with long light, beams and hear what sounds like a heart monitor. Sitting up from your hospital bed, you look around to find yourself in a hospital you're not familiar with… And notice a huge city out the window.

"Where am I?" You asked yourself.

But you realized your voice doesn't sound like your own. You close your mouth and rush out of bed, detaching yourself from the IV and heart monitor stickers and head on over to the bathroom. You look at yourself in the mirror, and… there in front of you, wearing blue drawstring pants, and upper body, from your neck to half way below your chest, wrapped in bandages… was none other than Peter Parker… or in your case… you in his body.

You let out a yelp of shock and backed away from the mirror, feeling your face, as you begin trying to find out if this was a bad dream. You rush out of the bathroom in a blind panic and jump out the window.

Thankfully, you were on the first floor, so no injuries were sustained, but you were still freaked out, not knowing what had happened. 15 minutes later, you could hear cop and ambulance sirens in the far distance of the city… probably looking for you.

"This is… This is not happening." You said, close to hyperventilating.

You lean up against the wall to keep out of sight. When you see a few cops race by, you decide to head out again, but… your fingers get stuck against the wall and you try pulling away you put your foot up against the wall to pull away and manage to free yourself, but now your foot is stuck to the wall because of your powers.

"Stop sticking already!" You said quietly, as to try and not draw attention.

You pull with all your might add… Well, you got off the wall, but you tumbled backwards and landed next to a couple of trash bins. You groan in disgust and get up from your spot and get out of there, risking exposure as you try to find your way back home, or in your case, try to wake up from what feels like a nightmare.

Everyone has eyes on you, even gossiping about you, but you didn't care because you just wanted to wake up.

"Come on, this is obviously one messed up dream, and in no time, I'll wake up and find myself back in my world, probably hooked up to multiple lifelines, but still…" you said to yourself trying to reassure yourself.

As you keep talking to yourself, you pass by your reflection window and see that you're still Peter Parker and not your real self. You get more and more panicked, then you run towards another wall and lean against it before bashing your head against it.

"Wake up!" *Bam* "Wake up!" *Bam* "WAKE UP! *Bam*

That last one… You may have hit your head a little too hard but the moment you feel something rushing down your face, your check and find drops of blood and come to find out the hard truth…

"This… this is real? I'm… I'm… awake? Then… Then, that means… I didn't survive the fire. Now, somehow, I'm… Peter Parker!" You say quietly in shock.

Unable to deal with this new truth, you fainted right there on the sidewalk and causing many people to panic. It wouldn't be long before the police and paramedics arrive to take you back to the hospital and what a story they're gonna be in for.

Your eyes open up, but… You don't see anything you're familiar with… No hospital lights, no busy streets… Nothing. Just a… multi-colored endless void that extends forever. You look around and suddenly, you spot someone familiar to you. The person in question was wearing an ultramarine suit with red highlights, including a large red spider partially resembling a skull as a chest insignia. And you've seen the latest movie to know that when he's involved… it's nothing good and he's probably gonna give you the scolding of a lifetime.

"You… You're… Miguel O'Hara!" You said in shock.

"Then you already know why you're here." Miguel said in a serious tone.

"I… I'm guessing you-"

"That's right. I found out about what happened. Apparently some tonto thought it would be OK to add an alternate route to a canon event and now, as if dealing with one anomaly wasn't enough, I have to deal with two of them… SEPARATELY!" Miguel interrupted you.

"Yeah, I figured as much. So, why are you getting mad at me like this is my fault?" You asked.

"Because… this is an alternate canon event." Miguel explained.

"You should be aware that the universe extends and grows as time goes on and in this world… a new possibility has surfaced. The Peter Parker that once exist in this dimension is no more and in his stead… you have now become him." Said another voice, this one sounded female.

"What do you mean? The old Peter Parker is dead?!" You asked in shock and disbelief.

"It wasn't supposed to go down like that. But apparently, according to this woman, interfering in this particular timeline, would throw this alternate reality into chaos. The point is… you're now Peter Parker and you got a look after this dimension." said Miguel

"That's an awful lot of info to process in one go." You say, trying to process this information.

"Well, don't blame me! I didn't ask for the stupid timeline to get created, but the damn lady insisted that it would happen!" Miguel said in annoyance.

"Lady? What Lady?"you asked, wanting to know who this "lady" was.

"He's referring to me." Said the mysterious voice.

Suddenly, another figure appears, a woman with red hair and a pair of goggles with red lenses. She wears a red costume with a spider-symbol on it. You recognize this beautiful young lady anywhere.

"Whoa, hold up… aren't you the-"

"Madame Webb from the Ultimate Spider-Man universe? Yes. But I'm also the keeper of the Spider-Verse. You've already met Mr. Grumpy Pants O'Hara here, haven't you?" She asked.

"Yeah, I've already met him… and he's already pissed at me." You say, looking at Spider-Man 2099 who looks like he wants to seriously hurt you.

"Don't mind him, he's just upset that a new alternate reality has been born in the Spider-Verse, and you are now destined to be a part of it as the new Spider-Man." said Madame Webb.

"Well… don't get me wrong, I'm happy, but… What about the original Peter Parker? And how will I know I can truly be Spider-Man?" You asked.

"Y/N… the old Peter Parker from that life is gone…" Webb explained "But at the same time, he lives on inside of you. And while I can't tell you how you can be, Spider-Man, all I can tell you is this… You won't know you when you're ready to actually be Spider-Man, because it's-"

"… A Leap of faith?" You finished for her.

Webb nods "You're already learning."

"Hmm… okay then. So… now that I'm going to be Peter Parker, is there anything I should do once I begin my new life?" You asked.

"Balance the two separate lives. Go with what your heart tells you, both as Peter Parker and as Spider-Man see how you can shape this new life the way you want to." Madame Webb explained.

"And don't go screwing up any of the other Spider-Man realities." Miguel said, annoyed. "I've got enough on my plate with that other anomaly."

"Yeah yeah I get it. Sheesh, you really need a Snickers." You said.

"What's a Snickers?" Miguel asked.

"BRUH!!!" You said as you facepalmed.

Madame Webb giggled. "All right, that's enough boys. Now, Y/N… it's time for you to wake up… Peter."

"Wake up?" You asked.

Confused at first, you then feel yourself getting really drowsy again and before you knew it, everything went black just for a brief moment before waking up in the hospital again.

This time, you weren't alone. To your left, sitting in a chair, holding your hand is Peter's… or more accurately in this situation, your beloved Aunt May.

"Peter! Thank goodness, you're all right!" Aunt May smiled with tears in her eyes. "You gave me quite a scare when you ran off like that!"

"I'm sorry, Aunt May. I guess… guess I was… kind of freaked out from before, I didn't mean to cause a commotion." You said to her.

"Well, that makes sense. You did take a nasty hit from that truck after you saved that woman and her child. But still…" more tears started to build up and fall down Aunt May's face. "I wish that you'd be more careful, I had already lost your Uncle Ben, I can't bear the thought of losing you either, you're all I have left in this world Peter!"

She hugged you tightly, quietly, sobbing on your shoulder. You could already feel your own heart, breaking from seeing her like this. She's right about one thing, you're all she has left. Peter's parents… or rather now your parents, are dead, Uncle Ben's gone, we all know how that happened, and who did the deed, and now it's your responsibility to make things right. Try to make sure Aunt May doesn't have to worry about her nephew.

You hold her in your arms, embracing her with the warmth and comfort any good nephew would, and then whispered something to her.

"I'm so sorry, Aunt May. I promise you… I'll do everything in my power to make you not worry anymore." You whispered to her.

"I love you Peter! I love you!" Aunt May sobs, sounding choked up.

[Timeskip]

A couple of days have gone by, and you were discharged from the hospital, and much to your surprise, all of your medical bills and expenses were covered by someone, according to Aunt May. But she didn't say who had preferred to wait until you were brought home.

Reaching Aunt May's house, you both exit the taxi and Aunt May help you guide you to the door. Even though you can walk just fine, You allowed her to at least help out. Soon, she gets out her keys and opens the door after unlocking it, then enter the dark house.

The moment you set 1 foot in…

"SURPRISE!!!"

The lights flash on, and you hear party poppers going off at a party whistle being blown. You recover half a second later, and recognize a few faces in the room.

The first one was boy around Peter's age with short brown hair, wearing a beige collared shirt under a light brown vest, grey jeans and black shoes. You recognize as Harry Osborn… Peter's best friend.

The second one was middle aged adult, also with short brown hair, wearing a black business suit, light purple shirt with a dark purple tie. This is Norman Osborn… head of Oscorp Industries and father of Harry.

The third person was a girl with blonde hair in a hair clip and glasses. She was wearing a white shirt under a pink jacket, grey pants, with pink and white shoes. This is Gwen Stacy.

The last person is a big blonde guy wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and wearing black and white shoes. This is Eddie Brock Jr. College freshman and Parker's childhood friend.

"Welcome home, you daredevil!" Said Eddie.

"Guys! You planned this all for me?" You asked in disbelief.

"Why not?" Asked Harry. "it's good have our old Pete back. You know, your really gave us all quite a scare with you took that hit.

"Yeah, we actually thought we might've lost you!" Gwen said with tears in her eyes, as she goes over and hugs you. "But I'm so glad to know you're still alive and kicking."

"And don't worry about the hospital bill. i've covered the expenses as a thank you for always being there for my son, Harry and helping him with his grades." said Norman.

"Wow… So, you paid for my hospital bill? That's… Really nice of you, sir, thank you." You say.

"You're very welcome." Said Norman. "I only ask that you be careful and… Possibly wear a helmet the next time this happens."

The others chuckled at Norman's little joke.

The others agreed, and the party begins in honor of your/Peter's return to the land of the living. For the most part, you and your friends would dance around to some funky beats while Norman would just stand back and watch, being that, he's not the goofy type.

Next, when everyone was all danced out, you had a movie night, watching all kinds of movies at eating pizza. And finally, you played a few board games, going up against your friends and Aunt May, but only won 2 out of the 4 times, but you still had fun.

After a couple of hours had passed, it was now getting late and everyone was plum tired.

"Thanks again for coming by, you guys. I really appreciate all you've done for me." You said sounding grateful.

"Anytime buddy." Said Harry. "Just be careful next time when the truck shows up."

"It's good to have you back, Pete." Gwen said, as she hugged you again. "I'll see you in a couple days when school starts back up again."

"Definitely." You said.

"You're a real hero, Pete." Said Eddie. "Just try not to do something like every day, You only get that one shot at life."

"I understand. I'll try to take better care of myself." You said. "Thanks again for coming over Eddie, all of you as well."

"You're welcome, Parker." said Norman. "I'll trust you'll keep in good health and congratulations on your recovery."

"Thanks, Mr. Osborn." You say.

"Have a good night everyone." Aunt May said.

The others waved goodbye as they all head out of the house, and now it was just you and your Aunt May. With that being said, and done, you helped Aunt May clean up the house… or rather, you were about to, anyways, as you were grabbing one of the board games.

"What are you doing, Peter?" Aunt May asked.

"I'm helping clean this mess up." You explained.

"Oh, no you don't have to worry about that right now. You just got out of the hospital, so I want you to get plenty of rest. Let your body recuperate a little more." Aunt May said.

"Are you sure Aunt May?" You asked. "I don't mind helping out and I feel fine, despite my accident."

"Yes, and I insist." Aunt May said with a calm voice, but with a stern look. "Now be a good nephew and head upstairs so you can rest up. I'll take care of everything."

"Well… okay, if you insist." You said, looking slightly nervous from the stern look she was giving. "Let me just give you one last thing before I head upstairs."

"What's that?" Aunt May asked.

You approach Aunt May and give her one big hug. She hugs you back, only she hugs you a little bit tighter, as if never wanting to let you go, and honestly, you couldn't blame her. You can feel her trembling a little bit, probably crying quietly to her self, so you peck her on the cheek.

"Thank you, Aunt May. I love you." You whispered.

"I love you too, Peter." Aunt May choked on her sobs.

You hold a hug for a little while longer before she pulls away and she goes you upstairs to Peter's… or more accurately your room. as you head inside, she closes your door and you go over to your bed and lay on it, looking up at the ceiling, thinking about all that's happened so far.

Still, you can't help but feel guilty. You feel like you're living a big lie and worst of all, the others don't know it yet. Sure, Aunt May thinks her nephew is alive, but in reality, all that stands before her is an empty shell that's harboring another person's soul.

'How can I even live with myself?' You think to yourself, a lot of questions, fill your mind, up to the point where you finally fall asleep. Aunt May is downstairs in the living room, crying to herself, remembering that phone call she got.

[Flashback begins]

Aunt May was in the living room, watching TV when the phone rang. She turned off the TV, and walked over and picked up the phone.

"Hello." Aunt May greeted.

"Hello, am I speaking to the parental guardian of Peter Parker?" A female voice asked.

"Yes, I am his Aunt May, who is this?" Aunt May asked.

"I am Doctor Rio Morales and I'm calling from the Emergency Care Hospital." The doctor, now named Rio introduced herself.

"What?! The hospital?! Is my nephew okay?! Please tell me he's all right!" Aunt May said in a worried tone.

"Calm down, miss. We're calling to let you know your nephew's been in an accident. He was hit by a truck earlier today." Rio explained.

Hearing this caused Aunt May to break down into a sobbing mess. "Oh no! Not my Peter! My poor, poor Peter!"

"I understand you're upset ma'am." Rio said, trying to comfort her. "But we have good news. Despite his injuries, he still managed to survive the oncoming crash, so he'll make a full recovery."

Upon hearing the good news, Aunt May breathed out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness. I don't know what I'd do without them, he's the only family I have left after his Uncle Ben died."

"I'm sorry for your loss ma'am." Rio apologized before explaining. "Now your nephew is still unconscious and resting in the hospital. You can come visit anytime before visiting hours are over at 8 PM."

"I'll be on my way, and thank you." Aunt May said, and immediately after she called a taxi.

[Flashback Ends]

She started crying some more, and she has every right to be upset, knowing that her nephew risked his own life for a mother and her child, and Aunt May couldn't be more prouder. And yet, she still felt scared the fact that her nephew could've died.

If only she knew the truth. Maybe she'll learn about it in the future when the time is right.
