The story you're reading right now is a short story of mine called "Abandoned Theory of Hypnosis", and rewrote it from the original idea. I found this version a little more exciting than the previous one.

Their team consisting of the main Naru, aka Shibuya Kazuya owns the SPR office and is the full boss, as well as Oliver Davis, a professor of parapsychology and generally he's cool in that field.

Next we have Lin. He's Naru's assistant, his position in the office is investigator, and he has to watch a lot of videos and keep an eye on his boss to make sure he doesn't use his powers (the latter is a bit more complicated). He can also summon his shikigami, which makes him pretty cool too.

And I, Mai Taniyama, am in my third year of high school. I work part-time and am about as much of an investigator as Lin. Although sometimes that's putting it mildly: if we're on an investigation, it seems like being an investigator is tantamount to being a slave who's constantly lugging around a bunch of equipment. One of the investigations revealed that there are hidden abilities, it is later revealed that Naru's brother, his name is Eugene, or simply Jin, had a hand in developing them, and he is the one she seems to have an affinity for.

Now they were on their way to another order, another investigation at the school, it was called Nekumo, in it, according to those who asked them to look into it, supernatural things were happening, many students were injured under unexplained circumstances.

The newspapers announced the following: "Numerous hooligans have filled Nekumo School, causing its students to be seriously injured, so the school has been temporarily closed, while law enforcement investigates, unfortunately their investigation has reached a dead end and we are appealing to citizens who may have witnessed this incident, we ask citizens who know any information to contact the nearest police station, it may help and save people who have not suffered such a fate."

Naturally a few days after this article their director came to us asking for an investigation, Naru declined the request with the words "I can't help it if the police work is so terrible and can't handle a case like this", he then looked at Mai: "Please escort our guest out."

Mai did so, apologizing to the director for their supervisor.

But two days later, a call came in from a girl who studied there, and after a few suggestions, the picky and narcissistic Naru-chan agreed, and he was ready to get to work.

"I don't need to worry about that, the world is full of people who are as quick to persuade as Madoka-san, and Naru's personal life is of no concern to me," the girl convinced herself as she looked at the dark-haired young man.

He shifted his gaze to her: "What?".

"No, nothing," and she turned away from him, now looking out the window, ignoring the strange look in her boss' eyes.

"It's not something I should be thinking about, and he doesn't care about such things," she decided.

May leaned back against the back of the seat, felt a strange heaviness in her head that swayed in time with the hum of the van and was about to fall, and all the muscles in her limbs relaxed, yes so much so that her eyes closed and she drifted into sleep.

When the brunette opened her eyes she saw the familiar surroundings, everything was black and the buildings were see through, only the lines made it clear where they started and where they ended.

Now she saw a two or three story building that was over forty years old, the sign read "Nekumo School", inside each classroom sat students, clearly there was a lesson going on right now.

"And why am I here, since we just left on a case?" - she thought, until she noticed movement in one of the classrooms.

A girl with blonde hair the color of copper, whose face she couldn't make out, was drawing something with chalk on the floor and walls. When she finished, she patted herself, pleased with her work, and picked up dust from her fingertips.

Then she sat in the lotus position, clearly preparing herself for something that would require a lot of time and effort. But still she continued her actions, her lips moving, she was reading something, but Mai was too far away to hear.

Usually she saw souls in the form of spheres, sometimes silhouettes of the dead themselves. But simple puffs of smoke were new to her, as if they were gathering in a whirlpool around the girl herself.

And when the most interesting thing was about to happen, there was a loud click, changing the scene from the school to the temple.

The temple looked like the kind you might see in flyers for those wanting to study history, and it was clearly western, not eastern, surrounded only by a couple of conifers on either side of a curved stone path.

"Why was I attracted to this temple?" - Mai wondered, "Does it matter too?"

"So I was able to contact you after all!" - exclaimed a melodious voice.

"Who are you? and why do you need me?" - Mai asked, looking around for the source.

"First of all, I am before you," said a voice that made her jump when she recognized the stranger. She wasn't Japanese, but she had the same hair as the recent girl, gray eyes, and was dressed in a simple white dress that developed as if in the wind, which of course wasn't here, "I don't have much time and I can only answer the second question, the girl you just saw is in very great danger, please hurry and tell Ollu about it, he will understand immediately," the stranger said and disappeared.

"Ollu, is this some variation of Oliver?!" - Mai guessed as her consciousness dissolved into sleep.

Waking up, she stretched and looked at the road - they hadn't arrived yet, so not much time had passed since the dream.

"You're finally awake? I thought you were going to sleep all the way to school," Naru said wryly.

Mai sighed to calm down and not fight with her boss, they didn't have time for that. - "I actually have some information for you."

"Another dream? What was it about?" - and Naru looked intently at Mai, as if she were the most faithful and attentive listener.

Ignoring it, she recounted what she had seen. "And then I woke up."

"I see, but it wasn't Jin, right?" - Naru asked.

"Would Jin have grown his hair to his waist, lightened it, and worn a dress with lenses?"

"No, he wouldn't."

"Besides, she was obviously an acquaintance of yours since she said 'tell her to hurry up, Olla will understand'."

"What did she call me?" - Naru's eyes looked at her in surprise.

"Ollu, so she's really your acquaintance."

"You could say that!" - he lowered his gaze in sadness for a second, but quickly looked at Lina, "please hurry up."

"Okay."

Naru's assistant picked up speed, even though it was against the rules.

"Who is she, and why is Naru so worried? No, it's normal to worry about others, he's human too and he's no stranger to it, but why am I so worried about this girl?" - Mai shook her head and occupied her thoughts with what could be wrong with this school.

They pulled up to the gates of the school, no one greeted them as they arrived a little early, luckily they didn't get a ticket.

Naru of course jumped out, "Mai, do you remember where the room where the girl did the ritual is?"

"I think I can show you the way."

"Great!" - Naru shifted his gaze to the Chinese, "Lin, while we're gone, please find a place and hide, we'll find you later."

"I will, but promise not to do anything rash?!"

"Lin-san, don't worry, I'll be with him and can keep him from doing anything unnecessary," Mai assured him.

"Good, then I'll entrust him to you, Taniyama-san."

"Hurry up!"

"On my way," Mai said, catching up to Naru and taking the route.

Ignoring the guards trying to stop them, they found themselves in the office they needed, and Naru jerked the door open with a jerk.

The room was like that dream she had a while ago, and in the center sat that very same girl, she was breathing heavily and full of wonder... "Ollu?" - called out the stranger, quite like that girl from her dream before she passed out.

"Ellie!" - Naru shouted, rushing over to her to see if the girl was alive.

Mai rushed to her as well, she checked her pulse. "Naru, she's alive, we need to get her to a doctor right away," she told him, but he didn't hear her, he just stared at the body in front of him, with one hand she tugged on his shoulder. "Naru!" - Mai shouted a little louder, and it helped bring him out of his trance.

"We need to get her to a doctor."

"Yeah," Naru replied hesitantly, taking the girl in his arms.

As they left the room and closed the door behind them, they ran into the principal.

"You've finally arrived," he said cheerfully.

"Now is not the time, we need a doctor right away," Naru said.

"Excuse me, follow me," said the principal, but he was interrupted by Mai, "Naru, in my dream I saw a hospital nearby."

"Lead the way," Naru said and followed his assistant, leaving the director and a few others behind.

They were admitted very quickly, and the girl was already lying in a room under an IV with a diagnosis of anemia.

Mai was returning from the doctor's office, having provided personal information about the patient. She saw a pale, dark-haired young man sitting outside the girl's room - "and yet I envy her a little," she said.

"The doctor said the worst is over," Mai said, taking a seat next to him, "Ellie, is she an acquaintance of yours too?"

"We just happened to cross paths," Naru sighed.

"Hmm, so she has psychic abilities too?"

"Ellie's a parapsychologist too, like me."

"Also? But she hasn't used anything related to parapsychology."

"Those are her abilities as a medium."

"So she's a parapsychologist and a medium?"

"Yes," Naru replied as she stood up, "I think we should get back to school, we've kept people waiting as it is."

"Does it really bother you?"

"No, I don't like leaving cases unsolved."

"Right, that's what you're all about," Mai whispered so the young man wouldn't hear, but looked at Naru, "I left the number on the post, when she comes to, we'll get a call."

Naru stopped and looked at her with warmth in his eyes, "Thank you," a rare thanks full of tenderness.

Mai blushed and began to study the walls, "It's kind of my responsibility. I think Lin is waiting for us," Mai said, unable to contain such a rare reaction.

Soon they were at the school and apologized to the principal, luckily he understood them, or rather he didn't dare to say anything as he wanted to get over with what was going on here as soon as possible.

One of the teachers volunteered to guide them around the school, Nitokami-san, that was the teacher's name, didn't give the impression of someone who didn't believe in the supernatural, but that was a first impression.

''Do you need anything else? " Teacher Nitokami asked, heading to the conference room that was now their base.

"Could you bring those students here who were injured too badly in the first cases?" - Naru asked.

"Will do," replied Teacher Nitokami and disappeared from sight.

"He makes a good impression," Mai decided to share her opinion.

"But that doesn't mean you should trust him unconditionally," Naru said as he circled the room with his eyes and handed Mai a tape measure. "For now, measure this room."

"Okay," Mai said and set to work, deciding it was better to take measurements than to lug around equipment.

Soon everything was measured and set up, now it was up to the whole school to do the same job, and not to forget the cameras, thermal imaging cameras with microphones.

Walking out of the office, Mai almost bumped into the teacher who had brought the students in.

"Thanks for your help," she thanked Naru.

"I'm always happy to help, if you have anything else, how can I help?" Teacher Nitokami didn't want to go anywhere, but wanted to be directly involved.

Naru thought for a moment, then looked at Mai: "If you want to be helpful, you can help my staff member measure the entire area."

"Then direct me on what I need to do?" - He turned to the brunette.

Mai sighed and got to work, realizing that her boss had just dumped a teacher on her. "Use this slave as you see fit," his words said, but the brunette was glad she had someone to use; she would never have been able to do that with Naru or Lin.
