Hangar
Ren Amamiya, a teenage boy with messy black hair, and glasses.
Ryuji Sakamoto, a boy close to Ren's age with spiky blonde hair, hunched over with his hands in his pockets.
Ann Takamaki, a girl with pale hair styled into pig tails that fell over her shoulders.
Yusuke Kitagawa, a boy with finely combed blue hair.
Makoto Nijima, a girl with short brown hair, with a braid across the top of her head.
Futaba Sakura, a girl with long orange hair that fell to her waist.
Haru Okumura, a girl with platinum blonde curled hair.
And a black cat with blue eyes named Morgana.
Together they were the Phantom Thieves. And they had an important assignment to complete.
Goku walked up to them. He said, "Since we're keeping this quiet, I'm gonna teleport you right to the surface near the strongest energies I can find. So far there are three, two in one spot and one in another."
Ren said, "Alright. Then we'll split into teams. I'll take the one with Morgana, Yusuke, and Makoto. Ann will go for the other two with Ryuji, Haru, and Futaba."
Morioh
MORI MORI MORI MORIOH CHO RADIO MORIOH CHO RADIOOOOOOO
The jingle sounded along every radio among the small Japanese town of Morioh. The days were bright and the students were hopeful and joyful as they made their way to school. One boy of particular note was a japanese boy with purple hair styled into a pompadour, named Josuke Higashikata. He wore a purple modified school uniform with gold fasteners on his chest. He was accompanied by his friends Koichi, a short boy with grey spiky hair and Okuyasu a boy with a black flat top hairdo, grey faded hair on his side.
Okuyasu, in a gruff voice, said "Oi Josuke! Koichi and I were gonna hit up Tonio's afterschool if you're in."
Josuke said, "I'd love to but I promised Jotaro I'd help him investigate some weird tremors in the sea."
Koichi, softspoken but firm, said, "That's alright. Next time then."
Ann, Futaba, Ryuji, and Haru were walking through the town, admiring the small town humility.
Ryuji said, "So, what exactly what are we looking for?"
Ann said, "Anything really that's out of the ordinary."
Futaba said, "Define 'ordinary'."
Haru asked, "Should we split up?"
Ann said, "Yeah. Keep your phones on, and message if you see anything. Futaba you can go with me."
Futaba breathed a sigh of relief at having a companion to explore with.
Ryuji said, "Wouldn't hurt to make friends with the locals too. Just in case they might know something."
Rome, Italy
Ren, Yusuke, and Makoto walked through the sun touched cobblestone of Rome, Morgana resting on Ren's shoulder. Yusuke said, "A truly wondrous work of art, this city!"
Makoto said, "Indeed. If we weren't on a mission I'd suggest sight-seeing. Not often you visit even an alternate version of Rome."
Ren said, "We can always come back later. Now...to start exploring."
Morgana mewed, which Ren heard as, "Hopefully this spiritual energy won't be too hard to track down."
Makoto replied, "Honestly it being harder to track down just means it'll be harder for Omnigul too."
Yusuke said, "Let's split up. The moment anyone sees anything..."
Ren finished, "Phones."
Ren and Morgana walked one direction, enjoying the city but watching the populace going about their cheerful daily lives.
Ren said, "Everything seems so normal here. It's like they don't even know what's happening outside."
Morgana said, "Can't blame them for not knowing. We didn't even know about all that until the Infinity showed up."
Ren said, "I just wish we could contribute more than just these stealth missions."
Morgana said, "Well until a new Metaverse grows out from a planet's butt we're kinda stuck."
Ren's eye caught something. A teen man, in a blue shirt with a white diamond ridged pattern, and a beanie with the same pattern but red instead of blue. He was buying ice cream, but Ren noticed something. With his mystic third eye, one of the only things he kept from his metaverse adventures, he focused on it and saw it.
Six, small yellow devils, with cone shaped heads crowding around the man, saying things.
One said, "Mista get the strawberry!"
Two more of them said, "No no chocolate!"
Others said, "I want vanilla!"
The teenager, exasperated said, "Can I get a scoop of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla please?"
The little devils yelled out in cheer as the ice cream man scooped together a three layer ice cream cone.
Morgana said, "What's up? Do you see something?"
Ren said, "You can't see it? That guy with the patterned shirt. Look at his head."
Morgana said, "I just see the guy. Are you the only one who can see whatever is there?"
Ren said, "He sees them too. They specifically asked for the flavors of ice cream he's getting, but the ice cream guy didn't even acknowledge him."
Morgana said, "How are you gonna do this?"
Ren said, "If I'm the only one that can see it, then I'm the only one who can approach him about it."
Ren ran after the man and said, "Excuse me sir!"
The teen turned to Ren, surprised by his attire. He said, "Uh...hi. Can I help you?"
Ren walked up close to the teen, whispering to him, "I can see them."
The man's expression darkened. Before Ren could react he was yanked into the nearby alley and pinned to the wall, Morgana flying off his shoulder. He pulled out a revolver and pointed it at Ren's chest.
Ren held his hands up in fear and said, "Woah woah woah, hold on."
He said, "What do you mean you can see them?"
Ren said, "The little yellow guys with the squeaky voices! I see them floating by your head right now!"
Ren looked up and saw their faces. Their pupils were squinted, with massive eyeballs, and the six of them were numbered 1 through 7, with 4 being skipped.
Number 1 said, "How the hell...?"
Ren said, "It's a long story."
Realizing Ren responded to number 1 made the man realize that Ren could see them.
He put the gun away and said, "What's your name?"
"Ren Amamiya."
"Guido Mista."
Ren asked, "What are those things?"
Mista said, "We call them Stands. They're your fighting spirit made manifest. But only other Stand users can see other Stands. So unless you have a Stand yourself..."
Ren said, "We?"
Morgana recomposed himself and rose to his feet.
Morgana said, "Don't dance around the point. Just tell him he's in danger!"
Ren said, "I'm getting to that."
Mista raised an eyebrow. "Are you talking to the cat?"
Ren shook his head and said, "Yes. You hear meows, I hear words. Not important. Are there other Stand users around here?"
Mista said, "Before I answer, can I ask why you're even asking about them?"
Ren said, "You're in danger. You and these Stand users."
Mista sighed. He said, "From who?"
Ren explained, "It's a long story. But some aliens called the Hive are after you. They want strong sources of spiritual energy from this planet, which I'm guessing must be these Stand Users. I need to know who the strongest one among you is."
Mista said, "Listen. I have a million more questions beyond that, but my Boss is gonna want to hear everything. I can take you to him."
Ren nodded. He said, "I brought friends."
Mista said, "How many total?"
Ren said, "Adding me and the cat, that makes four"
Mista winced. "That's a bad sign."
Ren asked, "What is?"
Mista said, "Four. That number is always a terrible omen. I do a lot of work to avoid anything involving the number four. I avoid picking from four options, I make sure I'm not the fourth person in a counted group, I try to avoid firing off the fourth bullet in my gun."
Ren said, "Ok...can you take us to your boss?"
Mista sighed, "I guess if I don't count the cat it's just three. I can live with that."
Upper floor suite, Italy
Ren, Makoto, Morgana, and Yusuke were lead by Mista into a velvet lined room. It was an office, and sitting at the main chair was a boy, roughly 15 or 16 with blond hair styled into three curls atop his head. He wore a black suit with a heart shaped opening that exposed his chest, and golden lining on the edges of the fabric. Mista said, "Yo, Giorno!"
Giorno turned and gave a near imperceptible smile. He said, "Mista...you brought guests?"
Mista said, "We've got a problem..."
He turned to Ren while gesturing towards Giorno. "Tell him everything you told me and everything beyond that."
Ren explained everything. The merger of worlds, Oryx, Omnigul, the Infinity, everything.
Giorno's expression remained stoic, but his eyes shifted with thought.
Giorno said, "Why did this Infinity only send you? You have no powers, no real skills."
Makoto explianed, "We had to blend in. Before this merger happened, we could enter another world called the Metaverse. Where we could manifest our defiant spirits the same way you do, but with Stands. Once the merger happened, the Metaverse was gone. We learned a lot in those days about infiltration and espionage, so the Infinity still keeps us around for just this. Omnigul is somewhere in hiding, and we couldn't risk alerting her and getting people caught in the crossfire."
Giorno nodded. He said, "I don't think I have enough to find this Omnigul, but I have a theory I want to test."
The four thieves looked at each other. Giorno stood up and began walking to another room. He spoke up to be heard, "You said these Personas are manifestations of your spirit, right?"
Yusuke said, "That's right!"
Giorno walked out with a tortoise in hand. The shell had a key implanted deep into its shell. It nodded its head, and spoke in a deep gentlemanly voice. "Greetings. It's nice to meet you."
Giorno said, "This is Polnareff."
The Thieves were a little shocked, but the fact that they regularly speak to a talking cat alleviated that shock. Giorno reached his hand into the red gemstone on the base of the key. In a single instant, his body vanished. Moments later he reappeared.
Makoto, eyes wide, said, "What was that?!"
Giorno said, "This tortoise's Stand generates a pocket dimension. Where I stored this."
He pulled out an arrowhead, large enough to cover his hand. It had silver edges, razor sharp with golden embroidering on the faces.
Giorno said, "This arrow is how a Stand user gets his Stand. One prick by this, and it manifests if your fighting spirit is strong enough."
Ren said, "I think I know where you're going with this."
Giorno said, "Maybe it'll manifest these Personas into reality. Maybe it'll make entirely new Stands, but if this Omnigul is coming for us, we'll need all the help we can get. Mista, get Trish and Fugo on the horn and tell them to meet back here ASAP."
Mista nodded, "Got it boss." before exiting the room.
Yusuke said, "You said it manifests if our fighting spirit is strong enough. What if it isn't?"
Giorno said, "You die."
The four gave concerned looks to each other. Giorno said, "Trust me. If what you told me is true, you have the strength to withstand the arrow."
Ren said, "I'll go first."
Yusuke said, "No. You're our leader. If you die, we're lost. I'll go first."
Makoto said, "No. I'll go first!"
The three started arguing over who should prick themselves first, not noticing Morgana sauntering up to Giorno. He pawed at his leg, catching his eye. He knelt down to pet Morgana which he took gladly, before suddenly grabbing the arrow, cutting his paw on its razor edge. He hissed in pain before jumping back.
Giorno said, "What the... guys?"
He was unheard over the arguing. He yelled, "Guys?!"
The three turned their heads and saw Morgana, with a cut paw.
Ren said, "Morgana!"
They rushed over to him, surrounding him.
Morgana began coughing and shaking, before curling up in a ball.
Ren said, "What's happening?"
Makoto felt Morgana's forehead and shuddered. "He's burning up."
Giorno said, "The arrow is doing its work. Why did the cat want to cut itself?"
Makoto said, "Morgana is a Phantom Thief too! In the Metaverse he can move and talk like any person and has his own Persona. He must've wanted to end the discussion."
Giorno said, "I see...all we can do now is wait. He'll pull through."
Suddenly, Morgana opened his eyes. Slowly he rose to his feet, pupils dilating. A mystical blue fire that only Ren and Giorno could see burned from him, and a mighty spirit burst forth. It was a trapezoidal figure, dressed in a black butler's suit, with a massive silver belt with a Z shaped buckle, covering his entire stomach. He wielded a rapier betwixt his massive fingers, and wore a black mask with silver embroidering that had eye holes cut out to showcase his determined frown formed on his yellow eyes.
Makoto said, "Ren, Giorno, what do you see?"
Ren said, "That's Morgana's Persona..."
Giorno said, "Not a Persona. His Stand...what's it's name?"
Ren said, "Zorro..."
Giorno said, "Zorro, the legendary outlaw. He is your Stand, Morgana."
Morgana let out a satisfied meow.
Ren said, "We've got to let Ann's group know."
"Now...", Giorno said, holding the arrow.
"Who's next?"
