Chapter XIX: Liberty On Ryloth.

The Costs Of War Can Never Be Truly Accounted For.

Invasion! Separatist leader Wat Tambor has taken control of the planet Ryloth and subjugates its people through a brutal droid occupation. In a daring surprise attack, Jedi Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano defeated the space blockade guarding the planet. Now, Jedi Generals Mace Windu, Naruto Uzumaki, and Obi-Wan Kenobi lead a massive invasion to liberate the starving people….

Ryloth, Dawn.

Naruto Zule, Alpha, and a group of their clones landed in a gunship in a forest with Obi-Wan and his group before running through the trees and came up to a gate for a ravine before they were fired on by droids in the towers with holes in them.

The two groups fought their way up to rocks just in front of the walls. Naruto and two of his clones at the one on their right, Obi-Wan, and two of his on the left. "Take 'em out!" Obi-Wan yelled as one clone from each side threw a grenade up.

Only for them to fall just before hitting the towers. "Can't get past the wall!"

"Throw again, Obi-Wan and I will help," Naruto ordered and as the clones threw another, the Jedi used the Force to toss the grenades in the towers and had the droids fall from the E.M.P.

The groups then ran through the gate and saw a small empty village in the raven.

"Let's scout ahead," Naruto said as he looked at two of his clones. "Knockout, Hound, you're with me. Zule, stay with Alpha."

"Got it, Master," Zule replied, crossing her arms as Cody looked to two clones in his group. "Waxer, Boil, go with them."

"Yes, sir/Yes, sir."

The five then started walking with Cody having two more clones follow before walking down the ravine to where it split off. "Knockout, Hound, we'll go South.

"Waxer, Boil, you two go with them," Cody said as they nodded before the group split.

Naruto and his group walked down the empty street and houses with the clones wondering where the Twi'leks were before Naruto heard something. Walking down an alley, Naruto and the clones come up to a young Twi'lek girl with teal skin and is wearing a brown dress and sandals.

"Hey, little one," Naruto said crouching down as the girl hid behind a trash can as the clones walked over. "It's all right," Naruto said before reaching out and spoke in her language. "We're here to help."

She slowly walked up as Naruto pulled out an energy bar and gave it to her while BD looked over Naruto's shoulder. "We've got a mission to finish sir."

"We'll take her with us," Naruto said as he held his hand out to the girl.

She took it and walked out with Naruto before she looked at the clones. "Nerra."

Naruto then looked up to see a recon droid before Hound shot it down. "Good work."

"Thanks, sir."

The girl then started speaking and pulled on Naruto towards the road. "She wants us to follow her."

After walking for several minutes, they came to a house with an open door before going in and saw it was destroyed as the girl looked at a hole. Naruto saw Waxer pick up a squeaky doll and give it to the Twi'lek who took it and started to cry. Naruto picked the girl up and held her as BD looked at her as well. "(Boop.)"

After several minutes, they walked out and saw two large reptilian/insect animals that are 2 meters tall. "Well, sh-oot," Naruto said watching his language before the four clones started firing as they ran to the house and closed the door. "I've got the door!" Naruto said let the girl down and used the Force on the door.

The girl pushed a rug away and showed a hidden door that leads to a tunnel before the group jumped down as the animals got in via a large hole.

With Obi-Wan and Zule.

As Obi-Wan, Zule, Cody, and their troopers moved their positions forward, they came under attack by a herd of animals, which attacked.

"Look Out!"

"Go for the eyes!"

"Behind you!"

The troops fired at the animals as they ran up and killed several clones. Obi-Wan then held his hands out and used a mind trick to lure them away from his troopers and trap them in an alleyway as the clones shot a stone bridge over them. They then got ready as a manhole cover opened up before Waxer, Boil, Knockout and Hound walked out with Naruto behind them holding the girl on his hip.

"What'd we miss?"

Obi-Wan looked at the girl who closed her eyes and tried to hide on Naruto. "Hello, little one."

"She showed us the way here," Naruto said looking at the girl as Obi-Wan spoke in her language and she replied.

"She can take us to the hostages with the tunnels. Cody, Alpha, we're going to need a diversion."

Later, they made their way to a building with cells where they destroyed droids before seeing one cleaning a cell floor before Naruto spoke. "You know if you're willing to surrender and be slightly reprogrammed you could join me and make a positive impact."

The droid then stands and throws the sponge to the ground. "Sign me up to get out of cleaning up this filth!"

Naruto, Zule, Obi-Wan, Knockout, Hound, Waxer, and Boil ran out to see Twi'leks tied up in a hole before running to free the Twi'lek prisoners. After Obi-Wan frees the prisoners, Numa is reunited with her uncle, Nilim Bril. However, a battle droid reports the rescue attempt, and TX-20 turns his AAT around.

Naruto and Zule deflect blasts as Obi-Wan takes control of a proton cannon, and with the help of Waxer and Boil, he manages to destroy the other cannons.

Boom!

However, a blast from the tactical droid tank destroys their cannon and knocks the three to the ground. Numa runs to her clone friends and huddles close to Naruto. "Stay behind me Numa."

The tactical droid targets Naruto and Numa, laughing evilly. Incensed by the threat to Numa, the Twi'leks rush out of hiding, swarm over the tank and tear the droid to pieces with their bare hands. "Does not compute... Does not compute...!"

The Acclamator transports then lands, and Mace Windu commends the Jedi on their victory. "Now, we must free the capital of Lessu and free this world."

Waxer, Boil, Knockout, and Hound then say goodbye to Numa. As the army heads toward the capital, Numa calls out to them "Nerra!"

"She's saying 'Brother'," Naruto said Smiling,

The clones turn and wave back at Numa, before moving out toward the sun, intent on freeing this world.

Republic victory is at hand! Clone troopers under the command of the Jedi have successfully invaded the Separatist-occupied world of Ryloth. Anakin Skywalker battles the enemy in the skies, while Obi-Wan Kenobi, Naruto Uzumaki, and his Padawan free villages from the grip of vile Separatist leader, Wat Tambor. Now, Jedi General Mace Windu leads the attack on the enemy lines in the final offensive to liberate the capital city of Lessu...

Ryloth.

Naruto and Mace with their clones are walking along a cliffside path with AT-TE walkers, and several AATs ambush them. The tanks incapacitate the first walker in the line and then target the rear walkers, seeking to trap and destroy the Republic forces. Mace saves the gunner, and then Commander Ponds comes up to him and informs Windu that they're pinned down.

"Stay down, we'll clear the road!" Naruto ordered Alpha as he and Mace went to the downed walkers and used the Force to push them off the cliff.

"All yours Generals!"

Naruto looked to see two clones, one in Mace's troop and the other his run-up in the mechanical-legged vehicle.

It's 3.2 meters tall and 2.9 meters long, with a saddle-like seat for a single driver and an open cockpit, and has a nose-mounted repeating blaster cannon and mortar launcher.

He and Windu got on and ran with a group of clones to the clone tanks firing at them. They quickly took out the droids in the area as Naruto and Windu shot at them with their walkers. Naruto saw the clones throwing grenades at the tanks and disabling the weapons on top and started attacking the droids as Naruto and Windu looked to Alpha and Windu's Clone Commander Ponds.

"How many men did we lose?" Windu asked as they got off the walkers.

"32, I think." Ponds replied, taking his helmet off revealing he's bald. "Including three walkers." He finished as BD looked over Naruto's shoulder. "Good news, General Kenobi and Commander Xiss have broken their lines." He said as they walked around not noticing a recon droid watching from a downed tank.

Lessu, Wat Tambor.

Watching the stream at his command center in Lessu, Emir Wat Tambor confers with his Tactical droid. "The Republic is progressing faster than I expected."

"I calculate they will reach the main gates by morning. I recommend a retreat."

"I do not retreat! The Jedi do not have the troops to take this city!" Tambor said to the droid. "Bring our units inside the wall and secure the bridge."

Naruto, And Mace Windu, Conference Room Inside AT-TE.

In a holographic conference aboard Windu's lead AT-TE, the two looked to Palpatine, Yoda, Orn Free Taa, and Anakin via hologram, before Palpatine looked to Anakin. "What's your progress, Skywalker?"

"My fighters have secured control of the space around Ryloth. We have the Separatist cruisers on the run."

Palpatine nodded at that as Mace brought up a city. "Very good, General Skywalker."

"Master Kenobi has taken the Jixuan desert, so the southern hemisphere is ours."

"Then, it's almost over," Taa stated as Naruto shook his head as BD tilted his head while he stood on the console.

"Not yet. The key position is the capital of Lessu. My spies are certain the Separatist leader Wat Tambor has his command center there." Yoda then looked up at them before speaking.

"When we take the city we have, capture Tambor we must."

Naruto sighed at that. "It's not going to be easy, Master. Tambor has chosen his stronghold well." He said bringing up a hologram of Lessu with a force field bridge over a gorge. "That's the only way out."

"I'm afraid a siege could drag on indefinitely," Palpatine said sitting in his chair as Taa looked at him.

"My people have suffered so much already."

"A plan you have, to take the bridge?" Yoda asked the two Jedi as Mace looked to Naruto who spoke.

"With our forces stretched so thinly I'm gonna enlist the help of the freedom fighters led by my friend Cham Syndulla. His fight against the droids has made him a symbol of freedom for the people.

"Cham Syndulla…" Palpatine said, looking at Naruto before continuing. "… Was a radical before the war. He is very unpredictable."

Taa then spoke up. "He can't be trusted. I know Syndulla seeks to gain power. We were political rivals."

"You deal with the politics, we'll deal with saving Ryloth," Naruto said to the two before Palpatine spoke.

"Maybe we could send reinforcements."

"There are none available," Thrawn said, coming up on the hologram. "I've thought of that in case Cham wouldn't be able to help. Any available forces are too far away and we're spread thin at the moment with those closest."

Naruto then looked to the others before speaking. "I'll take Mace on the walkers to where Cham is hiding at the moment. I won't say where in case this transmission's been tapped."

Lessu.

Meanwhile, Count Dooku via hologram informs Tambor that his tactical droid has informed him of the "pitiful job" he has done. Tambor insists that the droid has exaggerated, and asserts that he has not lost; Dooku crosses his arms and states that Tambor is no match for Naruto let alone Windu, and orders him to retreat with what valuables he can and destroy everything else.

Tambor is rather alarmed, but Dooku explains: Ryloth's fate will demonstrate to the galaxy the cost of a "Republic victory." before turning the transmission off. TA-175 notifies Tambor that their bombers are ready for launch and states he will ready Tambor's ship for evacuation. However, Tambor is not yet ready to leave.

Naruto And Mace.

Naruto stopped outside Cham's hideout under a wrecked C-9979 landing craft. Two Twi'leks guards looked at them before Naruto walked inside with Mace. After walking through the tunnel, BD used his light for them and came to a large cave where BD dropped down when Naruto saw Cham's daughter run up and started chasing BD around with other kids.

Meeting up with Cham and explaining the situation, he offers them some food and drinks as a group of Twi'leks gave a show with dancing. Cham explains that he doesn't trust Senator Taa. Even though the clone troopers will stay for a while after the war to ensure security and keep the peace, Cham insists that another armed occupation is not a free Ryloth.

Suddenly, Alpha came up on Naruto's commlink and explains that he and Ponds lead the troops and the AT-TEs to a village where they planned to spare some of their rations to the hungry Twi'lek women and children in the village, but the village is suddenly blasted to bits by bombers.

After a moment, Cham looked to Naruto. "Make the arrangements… I will speak to Senator Taa."

Naruto and Mace then walk with Cham into a small room of the cave where they brought up the Senator in a hologram.

"Senator Taa, so glad you could join us from comfortable Coruscant," Cham said to the Senator who turned to him. "Our people have survived with only me."

"I knew you would try to turn this into a campaign to take power. Need I remind you that it is I… who leads our people in the Senate?"

"And it is I who leads our people here and now!" Cham yelled before Mace spoke up.

"There will be nothing left to lead if you two refuse to work together."

Suddenly, Anakin spoke up on the commlink.

"General Windu, do you copy?"

"I hear you, Skywalker."

"My fighters are taking out the bombers as fast as they can, Master Windu, but there are just too many. I doubt we can stop them all!"

"Destroy the bombers and then meet us at the capital," Naruto said as he heard Anakin continuing to engage the bombers with assistance from Ahsoka.

With assistance from Mace, Cham and Taa finally reach an agreement: Taa will not let Ryloth fall to another armed occupation, while Cham promises he will not seek power, and rallies his men.

Lessu.

A force field bridge is suddenly turned off having a lone B1 droid fall to the crevice underneath it. Meanwhile, other battle droids escort the civilians of Lessu to the outer wall to slow the coming Jedi down.

Up on the hill, the Jedi and Cham discover this, they spot two MTTs making their way toward the city.

"Tambor's still there," Mace said as Naruto was looking through binoculars and saw tents outside the city walls.

"How are we going to attack with my people there?" Cham asked looking back at Mace.

"Get control of that downed bridge and we win," Naruto said before Cham turned back to the MTTs

"My spies say that those transports are filled with stolen treasure."

"Then that's our way in. Alpha, you're in charge of the troops." Naruto said to Alpha who nodded.

"Roger, I'll have our Sniper teams ready for when you get the bridge on and the hostages are safe."

They then intercept the convoy with Mace, and two of his clones slice a battle droid on a STAP and enter the rear transport, while Naruto and two of his clones do the same to the one on the front. As Cham prepares to lead the attack, Mace and Naruto order Alpha and Ponds to create a diversion and get their squadrons ready.

The plasma bridge is activated for the transports, and they begin to cross; Tambor prepares to leave with the last of the treasures he stole. However, the battle droids scan the transports, and they pick up an anomaly in them. As the droids open the transport's doors, the Jedi and the troopers exit the transport and destroy the battle droids, while the Republic forces begin to open fire.

Naruto saw the bridge start to flicker before yelling out. "The bridge's deactivating! Move!"

Naruto and Mace use the Force to push their clones across. They then use STAPs that were escorting the MTTs to get to the other side, and battle droids begin to attack the group.

"Get to the building!" Naruto yelled, blocking a blast as Cham began his charge.

Mace takes out an entire droid squad and a tank on his own, while two clones get the bridge up just in time for Cham, Alpha, Ponds, and their forces to cross. The citizens of Lessu wave happily at the passing freedom fighters. "We'll get Tambor, you take the droids," Mace ordered as he and Naruto ran inside.

They then came to the Separatist as his ship left without him as Naruto saw Anakin and Ahsoka attacking the bombers that were flying towards the city as Cham ran in.

Wat Tambor turned to Cham. "What are your terms for surrender?"

"They are unconditional."

Tambor then pauses in disgust. "… Agreed."

"I thank you, Master Jedi, Naruto. Today, all of Ryloth thanks you." Cham said looking at the two Jedi.

"All of you earned your freedom today," Mace said as the rebellion force ran in.

Later.

Later, Cham and Senator Taa wave to the people in a parade with both the freedom fighters, Jedi, and the clone forces watching in satisfaction.
