Disclaimer: I wish I did, but I wouldn't be writing this now would I be? So, don't bother trying to sue me because I'm poor. -.-

Thought format:

Youko's Thoughts: ^Enter some sort of text here. ^

Kurama speaking to Youko in his head/his own thoughts: *Put in some more text here too! *

Inner thoughts of other characters: 'I want some buttered toast.'

A Few Inventions from the Spirit Lab! (Really my creations...-cue evil laugh)

Articulation gum: The user gains the ability to speak any language temporally if it is carved into the gum itself and spelled properly. This gum requires a bit of spirit energy. Over time it is possible to gain the ability semi-permanently. The downside is a horrible lingering bitter taste and must be swallowed at exactly the right time otherwise one will speak the language backward. (The same thing will happen if it is spelled incorrectly)

Sprit Box Tracer: A special device that can locate any soul so long as a fragment of the soul itself is available, DNA also counts as a fragment. Able to produce images of a soul's shell. (current or final appearance, unless in limbo)

Healing Seeds: An exclusive Kurama invention and can only be powered by him! Light tan, tiny bean size seeds that heal minor demon injuries while for human injuries it heals drastically. However, overuse can render them useless. Kurama must apply a bit of his healing power for them to work. Side effects may include the taste of dirt, dizziness, confusion, and tiredness.

Demon Healing Seeds: Another exclusive Kurama powered invention item! Coffee bean-like in appearance and color these seeds pack a punch for healing. Made consistently of demon hybrid plants and requires larger amounts of Kurama's healing power to function properly. Side effects may include stinging in areas of healing, and apparently in humans weakens their sense over their emotions (Similar to the effects of drinking alcohol).

Healing Paste: Another one of Kurama's inventions, has the same consistency of Aloe Vera, slime, or green hair gel, but is a duller shade of lime green. This product uses a combination of human and demon world plants and minimal spirit energy. Depending on one's pain tolerance, endurance, and species stinging may range from mild to severe (Typically for humans the pain will be excruciating). This product can be used by anyone who has spirit energy.

Spirit Bands: Comes in various colors, it appears as a typical rubber/silicon wrist band, however, it contains excess spirit energy in case of emergencies. The phrase 'Spirited' is on all bands. The only side effect is the material may be a possible minor skin irritant.

To keep in mind (Non-spirit lab-related):

The Anrokku-Isei of pain [ An-roku-Is-hi] (Unlock the power of pain): An evil, rare, powerful, tiny red seed. Used by the demon enemy Aiden against Aisha. The seed forces any dormant abilities to awaken but also awakens the ugliest of irrational emotions. Pain, fear, hate, and anger only allow its host's mental destruction to grow at a faster rate. Side effects vary species to species however include weakness, dizziness, headaches, confusion, vomiting, internal bleeding, burns, consistent bleeding, permanent psychological damage, and death.

Chapter 19: Yu Yu Inquiry; There's a Spirit Lab?

(DAY ONE) 7:45 pm

Kurama's POV:

10 or 15 minutes have passed since Aisha fell unconscious once again. As she rests in my bed, I'm sitting at my desk trying to keep myself occupied. I am now reading one of her books, it's titled; Raven's Gate by: Anthony Horowitz. So far, the story leans well into the horror and supernatural genre. My ears prick up from sheets rustling and I place the novel down.

"Good morning, do you feel better now?"

"Yeah…Wait… It's not morning, is it?" She moves to sit herself up and groggily says, "Man, my body feels like a brick…what happened?"

"No, it's still evening, you've only slept for about 15 minutes. Your fatigue could be due to several things, though having to consume demonic healing seeds and the calming pollen contributes to that sensation."

A baffled expression presents itself on her face. "Okay, I've heard of your calming pollen, but what's the difference between Demonic healing seeds and your other healing seeds? Was it really that necessary...?"

"I had no other alternative; the pain became too much for you to bear. Demon healing seeds aren't typically meant for human use, but considering the power of Anrokku-Isei…" I go on to explain the difference between the healing seeds and that her shoulder injury has become worse, so she requires another healing session.

Aisha is silent, her thoughts elsewhere, but then she apologizes; "I'm sorry about all the trouble this has caused you Kurama. You know you don't have to waste your energy on me…"

She then goes on to ask if I am wasting my life energy healing her, which takes me by surprise that she even possesses that information; it is a little difficult getting used to the idea that millions of humans know this information, all retained from an anime television show and manga series. I wonder how the others will react once they learn about this...dilemma.

I smile softly, and say, "No, I am not, this doesn't hurt me, so long as I rest a bit. Besides, you cannot be kept safe if your wounds aren't tended to, Aisha."

"I guess you have a point. Okay, let's get this over with." She beams, trying her best to not let the dread break through her smile, but I can perceive it reflecting in her eyes.

"I am sorry for the stinging this will cause, but with a bit of luck this will close your injury." Though in all honesty, I am not sure myself. I have only heard tales of the evil Anrokku seed, but I never have seen its effects this close-up, until now.

^I am still astounded she hasn't succumbed to the clutches of death. Lower-level demons would have, or least old rumors have stated so. ^ Youko comments.

*Perhaps her survival was the real 'test' to see if she truly has the soul fragment…I worry for her mental state though, considering the horrible torture she endured. *

^ Things seem to lead in that direction. If that seal is as unstable as Koenma stated, her human emotions will be quite pestilential. ^ Youko adds, and I agree.

As she pulls my oversized shirt sleeve down, she carefully removes her arm. I unbind her shoulder of the gauze and I gradually smear the paste in a circular motion, adding my energy.

I can sense her twitching in discomfort, but I continue, attempting to distract her. Faintly, the burning tingling pulses through me, but before I can blink it vanishes. Deciding to ignore it, I ask,

"So, what happened to 'My mom won't take that long' hm?"

She mumbles quietly. "No clue." She hides her face and says nothing more.

*Did I strike a tender topic...? *

^Perhaps so. Tell her about that little girl and man. ^

"Sorry, I suppose it's none of my business." I say, and she utters "It's okay."

A minute later she inquiries, "So who did you help out?"

I beam and tell her about the panicked daughter and the father who was going into Myocardial Infarction.

"You could have just said heart attack Mr. Smart ass." She grins and I do the same back.

"Now, now there's no need for insults." I say, chuckling.

"Haha. You know I'm just messing with you. So, did you give the dude a healing seed?"

"No, but I did perform CPR and he was breathing when the ambulance arrived. I'm sure he'll be alright."

"Wow, that's amazing. Seems your medical skills are on par. Hell; you'd probably be a great businessperson too. You should sell healing seeds; bet you'd make a ton of money Kurama."

"Perhaps, but I would not be able to keep up with a massive supply nor any sort of demand."

"Oh right..." She utters, and laughs, "Then sell 'em on the black market to the highest bidder!"

Before I can respond she interrupts me, "Then again you might get involved with stupid gangs-urg never mind. It wouldn't suit your human side's image anyway. Gang banger demon Kurama…"

I can't help but laugh at the absurdity of her remarks. "Rather creative imagination you have there."

"Nah, maybe occasionally. So, if you're on this mission alone, what happened to Yusuke and the Yu Yu Crew?"

"Yu…Yu Crew?" I query.

"Oh, that's just a nickname fans made up for the gang, cute, right?" She gushes, grinning.

"To some, they may find it endearing." I don't even know what to say, it sounds a bit strange to me. "To answer your question, Koenma had placed me on a task to retrieve something of importance to him in demon world, while Kuwabara, Hiei, and Yusuke were sent to locate a wanted hybrid demon in our human world, which happened to be in Russia."

"Wow, they went to Russia? I thought shit only happened in Japan, in Yusuke's city..." Excitement illuminates in her eyes.

"No, of course not. Although countless incidents happen in Japan it's most likely due to Mushiyori City containing a large portal connecting our human world with the demon world."

"Oh, that makes sense. I was under the impression it was because of plot convenience. So, if they went to Russia, how'd they stay undercover? Did they learn to speak Russian?"

"Yet another excellent question, you could say they learned, then again maybe not." I pause, finishing up the healing session and handing her a glass of water from my nightstand and a packet of ibuprofen labeled Bdvil.

She fixes her sleeve, tears the packet open, sips the water and swallows the green-blue liquid pain pills.

"Koenma has recently opened a science/research department in Spirit world, and with the ogres and my occasional advice they have created some more useful devices."

"Such as...?"

"Spirit bands which store extra spirit energy." I hold up my wrist exposing an orange silicon rubber wrist band that reads "Spirited".

"Nice accessory there, you have those in pink?" Her eyes light up in delight.

"Yes, I believe Botan is wearing one." I answer, and then go on to say; "My healing gel and my healing seeds were perfected in the lab. Their latest addition and to answer your question about the language barrier is called Articulation gum.

"Articulation gum?" She questions, appearing a bit confused.

"I have some with me actually." I pull a single strip of the gray experimental gum from my back pocket and show her. "Since it's still a prototype it's bound to have a few kinks, its major one is its bitter aftertaste."

"So, how does it work?"

"It is relatively simple to use. First, you carve the name of the language you wish to speak. It does not matter what language it's written in, and after adding a bit of spirit energy you just chew until it dissolves in your mouth."

"That sounds way too damn easy, guess I'll never have to take another language class again...You should probably lend me some-" Aisha states then nearly shouts; "Wait! Are there any catches, like crazy side-effects? I don't find the idea of suing Spirit World very thrilling. The last thing I want is a hairy tongue."

Her silly comments and animated mannerisms are too funny. I laugh, trying to hold it back with my hand.

"No, just the bitterness may linger a bit, but I hear mouth wash does work wonders."

We both chuckle and she responds;

"Darn, it's a shame I don't have any spirit energy..."

"I can actually sense a bit of your energy, Aisha. As I stated before you probably haven't unlocked your full potential yet." Before I can give more information regarding the gum, she utters;

"If you work out the taste and the spirit energy thing, they'd be a serious hit, well if it could be marketed towards normal consumers…"

"Too bad, devices such as these would be hard to get approval."

"You'll find a loophole, with that big 'ol brain of yours."

"You're too kind." I smile, and she giggles a bit.

To be continued...

My notes:

This chapter is 8 pages long with 12-inch font. Yes, I realize its been nearly 20 chapters and Aisha still hasn't gone home? 0-o The pace will be picking up soon. I hope I'm not boring y'all. Please let me know what you think!

Rock Out and Peace On.
