"This is Cyclops's blood," Jean said, handing over a glass vial filled with blood. "Dr. Ye, are you really able to allow Cyclops to control the use of his laser without the visor? You should know that we have been studying this issue for decades."
Ye Hai smirked. "Oh really? Jean, you've been in my lab for a week now. The experimental data I've collected should keep you busy for years. Do you really think someone as efficient as me can't solve the Cyclops problem?"
Ye Hai took the vial, shook it a little, and then he heard the system's voice.
"Ding: Mission activated: Perfectly fuse the laser genes of Cyclops with normal cells. Mission duration: two months. Completion reward: 10,000 scientific points. Penalty for failure: deduct 5,000 scientific points."
Having fused several mutant genes, Ye Hai had gained a deeper understanding of fusion technology, and his data had become more complete. As a result, the time required to develop potions had significantly decreased. However, he faced a challenge: as Phoenix had previously mentioned, human cells have a limited capacity; they cannot accommodate an abundance of mutant genes. The more mutant genes there are, the greater the mutual rejection, which could even lead to cell collapse.
Therefore, Ye Hai could no longer casually fuse mutant genes into himself. He had to be selective. For instance, the laser gene from Cyclops had considerable offensive capability, so he prepared to fuse it. After he fused a few more mutant genes, he would temporarily cease further fusions and shift his focus to research on increasing his cell strength.
The only being on Earth that possessed powerful cells was the Hulk. Ye Hai planned to collaborate with S.H.I.E.L.D. to locate the elusive Hulk once the mutant academy issues were resolved.
Recalling Ye Hai's confident statements and the vast amount of data he had generated during the past few days, Jean felt disheartened. "You're right; your abnormalities can't be judged by common standards. Well, Dr. Ye, I've been researching Cyclops's condition for decades and have accumulated a lot of data that might be useful to you."
"Great! That means I can save time organizing the fundamental data," Ye Hai replied cheerfully.
For him, organizing specific data was always time-consuming. Instead, finding solutions from the foundational data didn't take him long at all.
Jean smiled slightly, connected her computer to Ye Hai's, and uploaded Cyclops's research data.
Once again, she experienced Ye Hai's abnormal reading ability. It took her a month to familiarize herself with all that information, while he finished it in just one morning, claiming he was being thorough and careful in his study.
"What the hell? How is this guy's brain wired? Is his mutant ability a freakishly powerful brain? But the professor's brain is also quite powerful. Why doesn't the professor have such abnormal computational and analytical abilities?"
Feeling defeated, Jean thought that this freak seemed to exist solely to overshadow other geniuses. The so-called geniuses on Earth didn't even deserve to hold his shoes.
The foundational data Jean provided from her decades of research on Cyclops was extremely thorough, so Ye Hai barely needed to organize it further. He worked quickly and produced a treatment potion in just five days.
"Ding! Quality control system initiated... Treatment potion for Cyclops's genetic defect achieved 99.9% perfection. Recommended for use!"
"Ding! Host has resolved Cyclops's defect, rewarded with 3,000 scientific points."
"Ding! Quality control system initiated... Fusion of Cyclops's laser gene with normal genes achieved 99.9% perfection. Recommended for use!"
"Ding! Host has resolved the issue of fusing Cyclops's laser gene with normal genes, rewarded with 10,000 scientific points."
Ye Hai shook the green potion in his hand and said, "Alright, call that guy with the Cyclopss over!"
Jean glanced at the potion in Ye Hai's hand. She didn't raise any objections and simply nodded, "Okay."
She notified her boyfriend.
Cyclops arrived at Ye Hai's lab, bewildered. Seeing his girlfriend working closely with another man made him a little uneasy. "Looks like you two are getting along well?"
"Is that so?" Jean smiled. "Do you know what we've been busy with these past few days?"
"Who knows?" Cyclops shrugged, unhappy.
Jean took the green potion from Ye Hai's hand and said, "This potion can solve your Cyclops defect. After taking it, you won't need to wear the visor anymore and will be able to control your laser freely without always closing your eyes…"
"What!" Cyclops nearly jumped up in excitement, then felt uncertain. "Really? You've all been studying for decades with no results, and this guy solves it in just a few days?"
Jean looked at Ye Hai with admiration. "Dr. Ye is the most formidable scientist on Earth. While we spent decades and amassed a ton of data that felt like a maze—trapped forever within it—he can see through it and find the exit instantly."
Seeing his girlfriend gaze at the man before him with such admiration sparked a sense of crisis in Cyclops. He shrugged. "This thing hasn't undergone human trials, has it? This is a genetic potion. If something goes wrong, it can be a huge problem!"
"Well…" Jean hesitated, looking at Ye Hai.
Ye Hai confidently replied, "Don't worry, my test subjects never encounter issues. My products are perfect."
Cyclops was speechless; hearing that something could be 100% problem-free sounded rather dubious to him.
But Jean said, "I believe in Dr. Ye's abilities, Scott. You don't understand his capability. He's like a god, and there's nothing in this world he can't resolve…"
"Oh my god, have you lost your mind? You're actually saying he's a god?"
Cyclops was astonished, but seeing the serious look on Jean's face, he realized she wasn't joking. After years of their relationship, he knew that Jean was meticulous, and if she said that, it must have a logical basis.
He relaxed his shoulders. "Alright, I hope your potion works."
Phoenix smiled slightly and began to help her boyfriend with the injection.*
