Karin Kurosaki was a bored girl as she stood near the left edge of the field, watching as her friends passed the ball between each other while trying to score a goal.
She would join in, but the moment she joined in, she knew that the team she was on would win the match and since Jinta and Ururu were not out to play with them today, she decided it would be best if she just stayed out of the match.
She kind of did miss her new friends, but she also knew that they were only able to play yesterday because they didn't have to attend any home school classes or do their extra chores for the day.
Thus, here she was, bored and standing in the field while looking up at the sky.
'Hah, man~ When are Jinta and Ururu going to get here so we can have our own ga-What is that?' Karin thought with a frown as she narrowed her gaze at the sky, a bit confused at the streaks of light pink fluttering through the air before being even further confused as she felt the air shifting.
'Something isn't right here. We need to get out of here.' Turning to look at her friends, she was even more bewildered to see them continuing to play, her confusion just increasing as she watched them play on despite the pink streaks swaying in the air.
Looking around to see if it was happening anywhere else, she nearly jumped out of her skin as a loud thump echoed across the field, thankful that the sound made her friends stop playing as they all looked to the entrance.
However, Karin was both shocked, awed and horrified to see Chad, her big brother's best friend, rushing through the gate at a blistering pace and with two gigantic monsters hot on his heels.
'This isn't what I meant when I said I wanted an exciting day!'
'Okay, I got their attention! Now what?!' Chad thought frantically as he raced through the streets of industrial Karakura, thankful for the fact that the streets were empty and that no one was around as he felt the two Hollows keeping track with him while making sure that he went slow enough that they didn't lose interest and tried to attack someone else nearby.
'Then again, if I saw a tasty snack that looked far better than the others, then I would try my best to eat it too.' Chad smirked at his thought as he leapt over a large pipe lying on the ground, feeling the air around him fluctuate as the ape Hollow tried to swipe him out of the air.
Landing with a soft grunt, the ground under Chad cracked as he leapt once more, this time flying in between the double fist slam from the other Hollow before flipping over the other hand swipe from the first Hollow, landing upside down on an air platform before leaping back towards the ground with a grunt.
That was how his chase went for the next few minutes, Chad leaping and diving from any random object that came onto his path while trying his best to dodge the attacks of the two Hollows that were doing their best to kill them.
However, as their chase went on, Chad cursed as not only were their attacks getting closer and closer to tagging him, but he couldn't find a safe enough place where he could fight the two Hollows without endangering anyone or the infrastructure around him.
'I guess I'll need to take them out soon. Wait, I didn't notice, but am I not heading to an abandoned soccer field nearby? Yeah, that will work perfe-Oh, crap.' Chad cussed in his mind as he caught sight of not only Karin, who was Ichigo's younger sister, but also what was probably her group of friends all looking at him.
Without thinking, he quickly reached out and picked up Karin with his left arm while turning around to punch at the beasts with his right, managing to catch their attention as the blast of spiritual energy from his punch managed to make the orangutan Hollow stumble before it roared in indignation and chased after him.
"On my back!" Chad shouted as he helped Karin climb onto his back, the girl just following his orders without delay as he spun back around before leaping onto the fence around the field.
However, instead of leaping over it, Chad grunted as he flipped backwards and over the charge of the ape-like Hollow, corkscrewing around and landing with a roll before his eyes widened as he remembered the second Hollow just as he caught sight of a fist tearing up the ground while coming towards him.
'Enemy attack on the front. Protect Karin on my back. Need to absorb attack. Shift air's composition to have elastic properties while shifting Bringer Light to Karin to make sure she survives.' The entire process of mental calculating flashed by like nothing as Karin felt herself being surrounded by some kind of aura, Chad frowning as he shifted the area in front of him to that of rubber before bracing himself as the Hollow's attack landed.
The elastic air wall managed to mitigate most of the damage, but Chad gritted his teeth as he could still feel his arms being rattled, pushing off of the ground with the force of the attack qne flipping over the attempted tackle of the ape-like Hollow that attacked him.
Karin squealed as she found herself being picked off of Chad's back qne tossed into the air before blinking as she bounced off of a series of trampolines made out of air, just as confused as her friends as she found herself standing next to them.
Now longer needing to protect Karin, Chad caught the wide swing of the large-armed Hollow with a furrowed brow before grunting as he leapt into the air and pulled the beast with him, his muscles bulging as he spun through the air and slammed the Hollow down onto the orangutan Hollow with a roar.
Letting his body flip over with the force of the attack, Chad was not done as his Reiryoku flowed into his right fist, pulling it back before the field trembled with a devastating explosion as he slammed his fist into the large-armed Hollow.
Being sent flying through the air by his own attack was not part of his plan, but Chad was not worried as he simply pushed off of the air and towards the ground, landing with a grunt and a loud thud on the dirt.
"Woah~" Chad blinked as he heard Karin's voice whisper before turning around to see her and her friends still standing behind him, all of them having a look of awe as he winced and scratched the back of his head slightly.
'Well, this was not part of the plan. How to explain th-Oh, come on~!' Chad thought in alarm as he spun back around, cursing as he watched the orangutan Hollow standing up while growling lowly under its breath.
Unfortunately, his attack had not been powerful enough and the beast had managed to survive his explosive punch by using its companion as a meat shield, Chad readying himself as he watched the orangutan glare at him before his eyes widened as the beast reached over and ripped its partner head off.
The large-armed Hollow's mask had twisted into a look of shock and horror as its partner cradled its head in his grasp before Chad frowned as the Hollow reached up and ate the head in one gulp.
'What is it doing? Wait, don't tell me…' Having a theory and not wanting it to become true, Chad was quickly coated in Bringer Light before lunging forward, the explosions from his feet boosting his speed even more as he appeared in front of the beast in the blink of an eye.
However, as he went to punch at its skull, his eyes widened as the orangutan grinned and leaned out of the way of the attack, a wheeze escaping his lips along with the air being knocked out of him as the orangutan snuck a heavy fist to his chest.
The Hollow was not done as it caught Chad before he could fly away and rapidly slammed into the ground from side to side, adding in a few stomps before screeching and kicking him away with a deafening boom.
Chad could feel the edge of his vision darkening as he was sent rocketing back and ragdolling across the ground, gritting his teeth as he shook the pain away and flipped over to his feet to skid to a stop.
The teen could feel a few of his ribs had cracked along with his shoulder and left leg being dislocated at the knee, but he simply grunted as he snapped both back into place whilst looking back up at the beast.
Surprise flushed through his body as he saw that the beast had thrown him down nearly the entire length of the soccer field they were fighting on before he cursed as he saw the kids rushing to him with the orangutan hot on their heels.
Karin was the only one he noticed to be able to see it as she was pushing her friends to run faster while not daring to look back as the beast tried to get them.
'No more underestimating people. No more holding back. Ichigo's sister is in danger and if she dies, it will be your fault that it happened because you let it happen. Now do your job and protect those around you!' Chad thought with a determined frown before he blitzed forward, Karin's eyes widening as the orangutan Hollow tried to reach for her only for a reddish-black blur to rush in its path.
Watching as Chad slowly pushed its hand to the side while pulling his right fist back as Brazo Derecha de Gigante slowly formed around it, Karin felt shock and awe coursing through her body as she heard Chad chant softly.
"Cañón Gigante." However, instead of the light blue stream of spiritual energy that he expected, Chad was surprised as sparks of scarlet flashed around his fist before a large scarlet beam erupted from his punch.
The beast was not given a moment to think before its entire upper body was erased by the blast, Chad quickly raising his fist to the sky and watching in awe as the scarlet laser went on for a while until it exploded high in the sky.
'…What the hell was that?' The teen thought as he slowly lowered his fist, slowly looking at it and then the disintegrating Hollow before blinking as he turned slowly to see the kids frozen in place.
Wanting to quickly tell them that he was a magician, his eyes widened as he felt another monstrous Hollow's energy appearing from thin air and he cursed as he felt it near Ichigo's Reiatsu.
'…Ichigo will explain everything.' That and he didn't feel like explaining right now, so Chad simply nodded at Karin before launching himself through the air with an explosion from his feet, the young Kurosaki watching him flying before she did the one thing she could.
She turned, picked up her soccer ball and began walking home while leaving her friends still shocked on the field.
'Nope, nope! Big Brother's either explaining why his buddy can fight with the monsters or I'm kicking him in the balls.'
Chad frowned as he skated through the air, looking down at the sight of both Ichigo and Uryu standing on the ground while facing against the monster in front of him.
With a black cloak that covered the entirety of its body, a pristine white mask with a beak-like nose on the front and a row of white spikes around its neck like a collar, the huge Hollow slowly pulled itself out of the gaping hole it had created in space before letting out a shriek.
The shriek sounded like a mixture of hundreds of voices wailing in despair and Chad flinched slightly as he felt it making his ear ring with a dull hum, quickly slapping his hands over his ears while slowly skating down towards the ground.
"Hey, Chad! Did you finish on your end?!" Ichigo shouted and Chad leaned back slightly while gesturing for Ichigo to lower his voice, the orange-haired teen giving a sheepish grin while Uryu rolled his eyes and lowered his hands.
"I would like it if you spoke in a normal volume."
"Well, I would, but I can't hear anything but ringing because someone broke some bait and decided to bring this monster to our town! Who was that again? Oh, right, it was you!" Ichigo exclaimed and Uryu grimaced slightly as Chad shrugged and nodded.
"He does have a point. Why did you even break it?"
"He's from some guys called Quinchies or something and they hate Shinigami, so he wanted to show me up by taking out the most Hollows in some kind of competition."
"It's Quincies and as far as I'm concerned, I'm up by 2 points."
"The hell you are?! That big bastard killed them before you could so those last two don't count!"
"Um, why don't we save the fighting until after we beat that thing?" Chad spoke while gesturing towards the large Hollow, rolling his eyes as both teens simply huffed.
"Fine."
"If I must."
'Hah, why am I the only grown one here?'
"So, what kind of Hollow is it?"
"It's called a Menos Grande, but…I've never seen one outside of textbooks." They all turned as they heard Rukia's voice, Ichigo looking relieved while Chad smiled as the short woman walked towards them.
"Glad to see you're okay."
"You too, but we won't be okay if we stay here. We need to run."
"What do you mean? It can't be that much stronger than a regular one, right?" Ichigo said with a frown and Rukia had a frustrated look on her face as she shook her head.
"You don't understand! A Menos Grande is an amalgamation of hundreds of Hollows that have fused together into one being, which means it has the power of all those Hollows inside its body. Every Menos Grande in the history books have always been defeated by a lieutenant or a captain of the Gotei 13 and last I checked, none of you are on that level."
"Speak for yourself, Shinigami. I am very capable of taking that beast down." Uryu spoke with a scoff as he walked forward and pulled his bowstring back, Chad watching as an arrow formed out of thin air before Uryu let the arrow fly.
Watching as it sliced through the air and impacting the Menos' mask, Chad was not surprised to see the arrow shattering the moment it touched the mask, Uryu looking both shocked and now slightly horrified as Rukia cleared her throat.
"Let me repeat my words. None of us are capable of taking it out! Now, let's go!"
"Nope! If we do, it will just follow us and if we bring it to a populated area, there will be more harm than needed." Ichigo spoke with a frown as he grasped his sword with both hands and Chad nodded as he formed Brazo Derecha de Gigante on his right hand.
"Ha! No way am I leaving and letting a Shinigami show me up." Uryu spoke with a scoff as he pulled another arrow back, Chad smirking while Ichigo rolled his eyes before the trio rushed forward.
"Chad! You hit like a truck so aim for the mask and make sure you keep its attention on you! Oi, glasses! Aim for the body and pepper it with arrows! I'll take the feet and hinder its movements!"
"Got it!" / "You are not my leader, Shinigami!" Chad rolled his eyes at Uryu's words before the ground under him sunk in, the teen crouching low before grunting as he leapt high into the sky.
Pulling his right fist back, Chad punched the air in front of him and frowned as a light blue blast of spiritual energy slammed into the beast's mask, now fully confused at its colour change once again before shaking those stray thoughts away as his blast had managed to make the Hollow's head tilt back slightly.
On the ground, Uryu was pulling back his bowstring at a rapid pace, arrow after arrow flying through the air and exploding upon impact with the Menos' body from all sides as it made the beast sway from side to side while Ichigo ran around it for his moment to shone.
That moment came when both Chad and Uryu landed a blow on the beast from the front, the teen quickly rushing at the Hollow from behind before the Menos let out a loud screech as Ichigo slid past its legs while carving a chunk out of its right ankle.
As soon as the beast falter and looked as if it was falling down, Chad wanted to attack before looking down and catching Ichigo waving for his attention, Uryu kneeling next to his friend with a powerful arrow aimed at the beast.
"Chad! Clean Blow!" Ichigo shouted while placing a hand on Uryu's shoulder, Chad's eyes widening as he saw Ichigo fuelling his energy into Uryu before he nodded and rushed around the beast, diving towards the ground before pulling back at the last second &nd flipping around to face the back of the Menos' neck.
Sparks of yellow and orange flashed around Chad before he sent himself rocketing upwards like a ballistic missile, clenching his right arm and holding it out to the side as absurd amounts of his Reiryoku flooded his arm.
"RAAAAAHHH!" With a roar, scarlet energy flashed around Chad's arm right before his lariat connected, ignoring the pain from his attack while proud of himself as the Menos' head craned back from the impact of his attack.
With its neck fully exposed, Uryu let his arrow fly and his eyes widened as the world flashed an azure blue before a monstrous arrow sliced through the sky and into the Menos' head, Chad falling to the floor just in time to see a pillar of azure piercing through the top of its skull and continuing on into the sky.
However, just as he felt victory within their grasp, his eyes widened as the Hollow turned its head towards him with its maw wide open, staring in horror at the small red orb already fully charged in front of its maw.
'W-What is that? Is that what I think it is? Was that what I did? Can I dodge it? No, Uryu and Ichigo are below me along with Rukia and they won't be able to dodge it nor can she pull them out of the way in time.. I have to tank it. Can I? No, it's not a matter of whether I can. I need to.' Chad thought with a determined frown as he watched the orb flashing once before it rushed towards him in the form of a scarlet beam.
Gritting his teeth and readying his body, Chad stifled the scream in his throat as he reached forward and slammed both palms into the beam, already feeling the skin on his palms having been melted away before creating a series of elastic air platforms behind him.
He could feel the blast pushing him further and further into the elastic air, but the teen was determined not to lose as he elasticised the air around his hands and pushed back.
Unbeknownst to Chad as he had clenched his eyes shut the moment he felt the burning acidic pain, the coin necklace around his neck was flashing a dark crimson as he kept the blast at bay, his Reiatsu overflowing into it as Chad unconsciously pulled a fist back before roaring as he slammed his fist into the blast with an ear shattering explosion.
The next moment, a monstrous scarlet beam just as big as Uryu's arrow erupted from his knuckles and eviscerated not only the blast pushing against him but also the head of the Menos itself, Chad's arm shaking as he took gasping breaths while watching tiredly as the beast's disintegrating body slowly fell over with its head gone.
Not caring for his body absorbing the Hollow or the fact that there were numerous dings echoing in the back of his mind, Chad felt himself sinking back into his consciousness as he passed out with one final thought in his mind.
'If that isn't a near death battle, then this system can go jump in a lake for all I care.'
A/N: And we have the first serious battle of Chad against a powerful being and I hope you all liked the little trio tag team.
I know that Chad should have been strong enough to at least take the thing on his own, but he was also fairly injured in his fight against Bulbous G & the oranguton Hollow because he underestimated them.
Thus, he couldn't fight at full strength against the Gillian.
That and I wanted to make this Gillian the one & only Gillian that stood out from its group as one that was near its evolution to an Adjuchas.
Also, to add this so everyone can understand how their power dynamic is currently, Ichigo is the most powerful out of the group in terms of pure Reiryoku, but Uryu is the most skilled and Chad has the most combat experience since he has been training with skilled fighters almost daily for the past two months or so.
