Keep this in mind readers!

Story Format as always:

****READERS TAKE A LOOKIE!****

Youko's Thoughts: ^What in the hell is that?^

Kurama speaking to Youko in his head/his own thoughts: *Is what?*

Inner thoughts of other characters: 'I'm lost?'

Hiei's Inner thoughts/ speech when he is talking to someone in their head: ~Get away from them.~

A Few Inventions from the Spirit Lab! (Really my creations...-cue evil laugh-)

Articulation gum: The user gains the ability to speak any language temporally as long as it is carved into the gum itself and spelled properly. This gum requires a bit of spirit energy. Over time it is possible to gain the ability semi-permanently. The downside is a horrible lingering bitter taste and must be swallowed at exactly the right time otherwise one will speak the language backward. (The same thing will happen if it is spelled incorrectly)

Spirit Bands: Comes in various colors, it appears as a typical rubber/silicon wrist band, however, it contains excess spirit energy in case of emergencies. The phrase 'Spirited' is on all bands. The only side effect is the material may be a possible minor skin irritant.

Healing Seeds: An exclusive Kurama invention and can only be powered by him! Light tan, tiny bean size seeds that heal minor demon injuries while human injuries it heals drastically. However, overuse can render them useless. Kurama must apply a bit of his healing power for them to work. Side effects may include the taste of dirt, dizziness, confusion, and tiredness.

Healing Paste: Another one of Kurama's inventions, has the same consistency of Aloe Vera, slime, or green hair gel, but is a duller shade of lime green. This product uses a combination of human and demon world plants and minimal spirit energy. Depending on one's pain tolerance, endurance, and species stinging may range from mild to severe (Typically for humans the pain will be excruciating). This product can be used by anyone who has spirit energy.

Demon Healing Seeds: Another exclusive Kurama powered invention item! Coffee bean-like in appearance and color these seeds pack a punch for healing. Made consistently of demon hybrid plants and requires larger amounts of Kurama's healing power to function properly. Side effects may include stinging in areas of healing, and apparently in humans weakens their sense over their emotions (Similar to the effects of drinking alcohol).

Portal Sealing Solution: A sticky purple substance that is used to close portals to different locations. Requires spirit energy and can only be applied by 'grim reapers' because of their distinct auras.

Chapter 31: A CD, a Vodka Binge & Portals Galore!

(DAY 4) 5 pm

Yu Yu Hakusho World, Eastern Europe; Russian Federation aka Russia

Hiei's POV:

~'Scientists are trying to find intelligent life on other planets. I'm trying to find intelligent life here on earth.'~

I can't help but to mentally chuckle as the statement proves itself true over and over again, especially in the human world. Russians are just as idiotic as the Japanese ones; I conclude to myself as I observe Kuwabara carry a conversation (more like an argument) with a young blue-eyed male about his mind tormenting "music". Another irritation that makes my eardrums bleed so if only I could burn it all; this so called 'rock' music. I believe the human group his obsession revolves around is called Megallica.

"This CD costs me 1,288 Rubles! (Forty US Dollars) Not exactly cheap to come by, and it is limited edition!" The Russian human shouts loudly.

"Uh, so that would be…" Kuwabara mutters and starts to count on his fingers. After a while, he pulls out his spirit phone and punches in a few numbers brutishly.

'I gotta thank Koenma for the converter on this thing!' He states mentally to himself, his face contorting into one of his many hideously signature grins.

"3,917 Yen…How about…uh…965 Rubles (About 30 US dollars)?"

"What? That price is far too low! Sorry, but no thanks…" The young human male shrugs his shoulders and Kuwabara slumps slightly; clearly, he's disappointed.

I crack a slight smile because finally, he will give up this ridiculous quest to 'own the greatest album of all time.'

"You should be thankful that you can even negotiate in Russian, considering how imprudent your mind is." I state as Kuwabara and I exit the small store.

~Without that articulation gum, and knowing Kuwabara's luck for attracting unneeded attention, a brawl would eventually break out-all simply because of a language barrier. ~

"What was that pip-squeak?" The orange top's face twists into irritation.

"You heard what I said, or are you as deaf as you are foolish?" I state, when will this idiot ever learn?

"Why you…!" He growls in annoyance, and I choose to chuckle internally from his amusing "rage".

"Where has the Detective wandered off to now?" I ask the tall angry male, and he calms down for a second stating;

"Uh… I think he went over there." He points to a hefty cabin with a gaudy yellow sign over its roof. As I step towards the cabin, I overhear Kuwabara shouting again, this time in glee. "Oh! Really man, you'll give it to me?" I turn away, shaking my head at how easily he expresses his emotions. Apparently, the blue-eyed human followed us outside and agreed to Kuwabara's offer.

"Such a simple oaf." I state to myself but as much as I don't actually enjoy admitting, he isn't all that bad…for a human. If anything at all, he keeps me mildly amused with his antics.

This icy environment oddly feels soothing, though the vacuous idiot we had to capture was tricky. The little brat Koenma had directed Kurama on to a separate task beforehand and had the rest of us go catch a specific wanted hybrid demon.

This cretin acquired several thousand human souls in Bangladesh and Sweden and fled to Russia. If the fox had been here, we would have quickly tracked down this vermin and be on our damned ways back home, days ago. At least I can stop this incommodious game of playing hero.

Finally locating the Detective inside, I question him. "Yusuke, do remind me why the hell are we out here looking for useless human crap?

"Aw, come on Hiei, don't be so grumpy, we should be celebrating the fact that we sent that bastard's ass back to hell!" He takes a long sip from an alcoholic drink and grins brighter.

"Tck. You're only wasting time; perhaps I should take my frustrations out on you." I respond with a glare and gesture to my sword.

The Detective is never fazed by any of my threats and strangely enough it does not bother me. Yes, I recall preaching 'Friends are a crutch for the weak' but these fools almost make it seem I am mistaken…not that I will ever state so.

"So, Hiei, which kind of Vodka should I order next?" The Detective enquiries, and I only mentally roll my eyes, this is not very amusing. In fact, he is boring me. "You should try some too."

"Don't be a fool; I have better things to do then drink such idiotic things."

"You really gotta learn to live a little; you're WAY too stiff, Hiei."

"Better stiff then sluggish like yourself, Yusuke."

A shrill bell rings as the hefty door swings open wildly, the humans inside stare up at the oaf in amazement as he steps towards us, clearly happy.

"Hey Kuwabara! Did ya get that Steel Maiden CD?" The Detective's speech is starting to sound slurred, such a dim-wit.

"No, but something even better!" Kuwabara holds up his CD and smiles brightly. I roll my eyes again.

"Urameshi, I can't wait to listen to it when we-" He halts short, eyes slightly wide. "Is- this a bar?! Urameshi! What the heck are you doing? We aren't even old enough to drink yet! Hiei, you should have stopped him!"

"I didn't come here to baby-sit, and besides it was his own stupid choice." I reply, not giving a damn.

"Yeah! Besides Kuwabara, the drinking age here in Russia is 18! I'm 19 for fuck's sake!" Yusuke blurts out.

"That doesn't matter, back home you'd have to wait another year!" The orange haired male retorts back and quickly pushes the drink away from Yusuke and begins to drag the slightly drunken Detective outside.

"Hey! Kuwabara! I wasn't done with that-DAMN IT!"

"Keiko is gonna be so mad when she finds out, Urameshi!"

Perhaps I'm wrong about this being un-amusing.

(Day 4) 12:30 pm

2nd Earth, Human Realm, The Middle East, Qatar

Botan's POV:

"Finally, it's good to see you again Botan. I know it must have been difficult to contact me. The signals have been god awful. So, what do you have to report, how are things?" Koenma questions me through my pink spirit phone.

He had sent me to originally accompany Kurama, but unfortunately portals have been popping up all over the place. Instead, I've been closing them and taking notes on their effects on this world. Oddly enough it isn't that different structure wise, at least in the human plane.

"It's good to see you as well, Koenma Sir. Yes, I haven't really kept in contact with Kurama either. Hopefully, I can join him once I wrap up here. As for my report, this human world is eerily like ours. I believe I am in the Middle East, in a country called Qatar. Things in this area of the world aren't ideal, though that's mostly due to the suffering these people face." I reply as I fly over the tall modern looking Skyscrapers. Soon enough, I pass over the oceans, which are a gorgeous shade of blue and look refreshingly inviting.

Although it is peaceful now, I can't help but to worry about the random portals sucking in everything in its wake, and not being there in time to stop it.

"I was able to keep parts in Africa under control from the portals, but they're spreading at a faster rate. It's already starting to effect smaller parts of Europe, like in Germany and England."

I try to keep myself calm, but panic starts to bubble within my chest, many lives will be at stake, because of these ridiculous openings.

"That isn't good, damn it all…." Koenma replies, his face expresses distress. "At least there aren't too many demons amuck or 'better yet' the undead ones… Thank you for everything you've done so far Botan. I know you're doing your best and it isn't an easy feat to be doing this solo. Has the Portal Sealing Solution been working well?"

Ever since Koenma redid the spirit lab six months ago, many new creations have been made to be quite handy…except maybe in Kurama's case. I really do feel for the guy. Having your soul split in half must be quite the dilemma. Though, he doesn't speak much about his experience. I wonder if it's embarrassing to him?

Anyway, Articulation gum, Spirit bands, Kurama's healing seeds and paste are a few things that have been a blessing; though they still have a few kinks to work out.

The Portal Sealing Solution is this purple gluey stuff that can only be used by Grim Reapers (such as myself) on bothersome portals. At least I don't have to touch this gunk with my bare hands…I honestly don't think it's washable if it can shut portals closed.

"Yes Sir, it has been quite effective to close the portals, though it does drain me of energy."

"Well, at least it is working for now. Though it is only a temporary fix to a much dire situation. Be sure to keep yourself well, and as soon as you can please join Kurama. The last time I spoke to him, he did indeed find the girl. Her name is Aisha, by the way. Kurama seemed to be having a bit of trouble."

"Okay, I will try to finish up here, Koenma sir. Though, what kind of trouble is he facing?"

"… It was partially due to a minor blunder of mine, but I'm sure it's fine now." The young ruler laughs nervously, and I mentally question this statement.

"I would hope so, I mean we are talking about Kurama. He has a relatively swell track record…Is there something else you need to tell me, sir?"

"Well, besides the massive mortality rate of the members of the SDF, and demons, and the portals overwhelming our reapers…"

Koenma goes on to explain that since I haven't been able to assist him, Sayaka has stepped in. Ever since the blueprints have been stolen, Koenma has been having more difficultly generating them, and he now requires a grim reaper's spirit energy.

"Yusuke and the others aren't even home yet from Russia, and they won't be too pleased to hear they already have another mission…"

"Uh oh…Well, they didn't have too much trouble defeating that hybrid demon, right?" I ask, hoping they won't be so tuckered out.

"From what they last reported, no it didn't seem that difficult. And at most I can give them half a day to recuperate."

"Is that really enough time sir...?" I ask feebly.

"It's better than nothing. I know what you're thinking Botan, just be aware we don't exactly have time to fool around."

"I understand sir, but…" I try to reason.

"They'll be fine, as long as the portal doesn't fall apart…." Koenma mutters the last part of his sentence and before I can really question him, he interrupts me.

"S-see you soon, once you plug up those portals, but be sure to let me know, okay?" The nervousness in Koenma's voice is obvious. "Bye Botan!"

"Yes-but-"

*BEEP* This connection has been terminated. Thank you for calling Spirit world; have a nice day.

'Hopefully, Koenma-sir finds a way to make that portal to this world safer. Who knows what could happen to the boys if he doesn't…I also wonder how Kurama is holding up. I'd really like to meet this girl Aisha! I should go and check on them since my signal is still jammed. So long as the portals stop popping up like crazy!'

To be continued….

My Notes: I know there was no Aisha or Kurama this chapter, but you finally get to see what our Yu Yu Crew was up to! I hope you found this chapter a bit amusing. :D This chapter is about 7 pages long on 12 inch font.
