Phoenix Project Black Site/ Lair of the Instruments of the First Will, Australian Desert

"Resurrection Day"- Year 2018

Elijah Miles- Age 13

Juno had been born again with the help of the Phoenix Project, Abstergo's transhumanist project, the Instruments of the First Will loyal to her, the stolen Shroud of Eden, the device that was responsible for bringing Jesus back from the brink of death…

…and Elijah's own DNA.

"Quick, child!" said Juno. "Give me the jewel!"

Standing before the surreal, glowing, megalomaniacal Isu being, Elijah could hear the voices whispering in his mind's ear as his body trembled with nervous energy. Sweat was running out of every single one of his pores.

Don't do it, Elijah…

Is he mad?

She's just using you!

For a moment, he hesitated.

Then he heard the voice that he disliked the most.

"Give the Koh-I-Noor to her, Elijah," said the voice. "She loves you. You know that. Together, you can rule the world alongside her."

Elijah frowned as he could see the face that belonged to the voice.

It looked a lot like his– black hair and heterochromic eyes– but the face was not that of a teenager's.

As he could see Otso Berg, Charlotte de la Cruz, and the other Assassins that were still alive sneaking up on Juno, he tensed himself for what he was about to do.

His entire life leading up to this moment flashed before his eyes as he walked towards the Isu being, towering over him considerably more than any human adult he'd met. He was terrified.

"Elijah?" said a familiar voice, one that brought him comfort and pain simultaneously.

Suddenly he saw himself on the streets of Manhattan with her again, back when he was a toddler.

"Mom!" said the younger Elijah. "I'm seeing things… and hearing things too."

"What are you seeing and hearing, sweetheart?" said his mother.

"Just… some really colorful patterns. Right now at least," said Elijah. "And I'm hearing whispers."

"Whispers? Colorful patterns?" said his mother with a worried expression on her face. "Right now?"

"Yeah," said Elijah. "Although some of them disappeared now that I'm talking to you."

His mother began to sob.

"Are they real?" said Elijah.

"No," said his mother while sobbing, "I don't think they are."

"Then why am I seeing them?"

His mother walked closer to him, and cupped his face in her hands. "Look at me, Elijah. Listen to my voice. Focus on me."

"Okay."

"You have to do your best to shut the voices and images out," said his mother. "You're sensing things that aren't there because you're…" She suppressed a sob, "...scared of the streets."

"How do I shut them out?" said Elijah.

"You have to be brave," said his mother, "and you have to be strong. I know you can do it. You're my baby boy."

"If we get off the streets, will the voices and patterns go away?"

Tears formed in his mother's eyes.

"When will we stop having to live on the streets, Mom?"

His mother began to sob uncontrollably as she hugged Elijah tight.

"Oh, Elijah," she cried, "I'm so sorry… I'll do everything I can to get us an apartment… but for now…"

"...you have to be strong."

Elijah shut the voices out and approached Juno while maintaining a poker face.

"Quick, Juno…" said Elijah as he held the Koh-I-Noor–the ultimate Piece of Eden–toward her…

Then watched as Charlotte's blade pierced through Juno's neck.

"...die."

"Aita…" Juno croaked with her eyes wide open as she stared at Elijah in shock before she started to choke on her own blood.

As they shared their thoughts, Juno said to him as she lay on the floor of the White Room of Death, "Why, Aita… we could have ruled the world… controlled humanity… created an everlasting peace."

"Aita is a ghost in the wind," said Elijah. "Your line ends here. I swear it."

Juno looked at Elijah and smiled slightly for some reason before she lay her head down against the floor. Elijah wiped the blood oozing out of her neck all over her face with his hand, then her body dissolved, and the White Room dissipated.

As Elijah awoke from the White Room, he found that the black site was crumbling all around him.

He quickly made his escape.

As he made his way through the desert towards the Abstergo hoverbike he stole, he contemplated what to do with his life now that his act of vengeance was complete.
