Harry & Daphne: An Untold Destiny is a Harry Potter fanfiction project/challenge. The story will be written in collaboration with the readers with the use of prompt polls and comment suggestions. The world has been developed with a unique history, laws and rules of magic that will work as my guide. How far and how close the story sticks with canon story lines is dependent on decisions made by the readers. Absolutely no plot has been decided besides that Harry Potter and Daphne Greengrass are the main characters and the two will end up together.
I'm probably crazy and this probably won't work out the way I want but I figure I should at least try. Hopefully it will be fun. The concept of this is 50% choose your own adventure and 50% dungeons and dragons.
I've written a bunch of notes expanding and changing the Harry Potter universe. I invented a religion, a history and my own vision of how magic works. Using my notes I'll kind of act as a dungeon master, you vote what you want the characters to do and I'll dictate how the world responds.
So for example choosing a Hogwarts house. You choose Hufflepuff for Harry and Ravenclaw for Daphne. The consequence would be Ernie McMillan would end up in Gryffindor and Padma Patil would end up in Slytherin. Draco Malfoy also wouldn't take Harry seriously because he is a duffer and is less antagonistic as a result. It might not work out exactly like that but every choice will change the story in a logical way. Some things you might not see for a long while.
So before starting out with the first chapter I've made up a survey to help establish what kind of Harry and what kind of Daphne you want in this story. I'm also leaving the main antagonist to be decided by the reader.
You can find the survey on my website there's also a discord where you can answer the polls /7XCfWkha or simply just write in the comments your choices. You can even do all three and no one would know.
The first question is who was Harry raised by…
Option 1 would be being raised by his parents Lily and James Potter. Meaning they would have lived in this story.
Option 2 is being raised by the Dursley family.
Option 3 is being raised by Sirius and friends. I'm being vague on who the friends are.
Option 4 is that Harry was raised in an orphanage of some sort.
Each question will also have an Other option if you don't like any given options and box to fill in your suggestion.
The second question is who in regards to Daphne's parents
Option 1 is that they are Blood Supremacists which is kind of self explanatory.
Option 2 is The "Grey" Faction. If you're not familiar with the trope essentially Daphne's parents don't believe in blood supremacy but have traditional values opposed to Dumbledore and don't take sides in the war.
Option 3 is they are just normal parents, who love their daughter and want what's best for her, no weird crap.
Option 4 is that her parents are dead and she is an orphan.
The third question is what kind of personality does Harry have. The options are all basically aligning with different Hogwarts House traits. This is really only determining who Harry is at the beginning of the story and his personality will change as he grows.
Option 1: Independent & Powerful. This Harry doesn't trust easily and sees both people and magic as tools to further his own ambitions.
Option 2: Withdrawn & Curious. This Harry would be traumatized in some way and likes to keep to himself. He has trouble relating to people but desperately wants to. Magic for him is a mystery that he is constantly trying to solve.
Option 3: Confident & Self Assured. This Harry knows who is and isn't shy about it. Magic is awesome and cool and so is he.
Option 4: Awkward & Charming. This Harry is a little clumsy, a little shy but a really nice guy. Everyone that meets Harry likes him. Magic is just something he does.
The fourth question is obviously what kind of personality does Daphne have. I based these options more around popular interpretations of Daphne in fanfiction.
Option 1: Prideful & Arrogant. This is essentially the female Malfoy archetype where she believes she is great and is entitled to whatever she wants.
Option 2: Uptight & Closed off. This is the classic frigid royalty trope (I refuse to say ice queen). She does not trust easily nor does she show affection. She was raised to be very reserved and keeps people at a distance.
Option 3: Awkward & Shy. This is dorky Daphne. She has a nerdy hobby she talks about passionately and kind of just blushes and mumbles through most conversations.
Option 4: Capable & Well adjusted. I'm basing this off of Dorothea Greengrass's version of Daphne, who's just kind of a really cool but mostly normal witch. Normal Daphne?
Question 5 is who do you want as an antagonist?
Option 1: Canon Voldemort. Very similar to how Voldemort was in canon which was kind of a children's cartoon villain level of competence.
Option 2: Evolved Voldemort. Smarter, more charming, less crazy and competent.
Option 3: Dumbledore. This would honestly be the hardest for me to make fit into the world I designed but not impossible and I know he's a popular villain.
Option 4: Grindelwald. There's lot of interesting things that could come from this.
Option 5: OC Villain. A new world could use a new villain. The story will contain some OC villains already but this one would be bigger and span across the whole story.
Option 6: None. You don't feel the story needs a big villain and rather have it just focus on the world and smaller antagonists.
The last two questions are just about certain tropes. You can vote; Yes, No, or Don't care.
Question 6: Do you want the story to feature the Wrong Boy Who Lived Trope? This would mean Harry isn't famous and instead Neville or Someone else is the boy who lived. In most scenarios the Potters also live.
Question 7: Do you want the Marriage Contract trope? Harry and Daphne will end up together regardless but it's popular so I ask.
You can also suggest things you want, if there's a certain trope or idea you wanted to see and I can see what I can do.
