Chapter 1: In the beginning

"It's been such a long time since then..." she said to herself, sitting outside on the balcony of her new room. She had to move yet again- for she had graduated yet another high school, and therefore could no longer attend it.

She sighed to herself, looking up at the blue-colored sky. "How long must I wait? How long will i stay this way?"

She looked down and closed her eyes, remembering a happier time, in a small village long long ago...

-flashback-

"Jackson!" She said, running after her friend. "Wait up!"

She heard him laugh as he continued to run away, and climbed quickly up the nearest tree.

It was a quiet spring afternoon, Melody and Jackson had wandered out to have fun, as kids do.

"Jackson!" She called to him again, getting closer to the tree.

Jackson pops out of the tree, hanging upside down. "Hiya, Melody~" he said, smiling. He was so close to Melody's face, she backed up slightly startled and blushing.

"H-hey!" She crossed her arms and stared at him. "Get down from there, you'll hurt yourself!"

"What? No I won't, I've done it before." He said, hopping down and landing on his bare-feet.

"That's what you said the past five times and each time you've fallen out of the tree." She replied. "I'll pull you down this time, come on."

"You're no fun, Melody!" He whined, but jumped down anyway. "There, happy?"

"Yes, actually. Thank you." She said.

"So what did you want?" He asked.

"Jackson, did you forget its chore day?" Melody crossed her arms and looked at him.

"Aw darn... that's no fun." He said, but started walking back to the village with her anyway.

"Melody!" Jackson yelled as he knocked on her door.

"What?" She answered, opening the door.

"We're going skating on the pond today! Remember?" He exclaimed.

"Oh, right. Let me grab my skates and i'll meet you and your sister there." She replied.

"Alright!" He said, running off with his sister.

Melody went back inside and grabbed her skates, hurrying up to catch up to the two of them.

When she had reached the pond, Jackson's sister was already skating away. Melody sat down to put on her skates and watched his sister skate.

All of a sudden there was a loud cracking sound.

"Oh no." Melody and Jackson looked at each other.

"Stay calm! I'll get you." Jackson called to her and grabbed the nearest branch.

"Jackson, wait we should go get an adult!" Melody yelled.

"There isn't time!" He yelled back.

"We'll play a game, sis. It's fun, you'll see! Keep your eyes on me." He said to her.

All Melody could do was watch.

"J-Jackson I'm scared.." she stammered.

"It's okay." He said.

His next move, made Melody gasp.

"Jackson!" She yelled, but it was too late.

Jackson had switched places with his sister, and because he was too heavy the ice couldn't hold him. He had fallen through- he was lost forever...

Melody was heartbroken- she had lost her only friend and the only boy she would ever love. The night that Jackson had passed she made a wish on a falling star.

"Please, let me see him again. Let me live to see him again..."

-end flashback-

"It's been... so long... where are you Jackson?" She sighed again, looking up at the sky. "Can I take back my wish? I didn't think that I would have to live this long on my own..."

To be exact, Melody has been living now for four hundred years. Waiting for Jackson- when she made her wish, she had no idea that she would have to wait so long.

She begins her first day of her new school in the morning, since she has been seventeen for four hundred years, and is now required to go to school by law. Even though she knows everything they teach inside and out.

She really is not looking forward to it.

-the next morning-

Melody gets up early for school, as always, gets breakfast and waits at her new bus stop.

The bus arrives at the school promptly at 7:30, and the students unload into the building.

Melody stops outside for a moment, looks up and down at the school and sighs. Then continues walking in. She finds a quiet spot to sit down and starts to draw, how she imagines meeting Jackson again.

After a few minutes a boy sits down across from her.

"Hey, you're new." He said, "What's your name?"

"I'm sorry, I'm not the type you want to be making friends with..." she replied without looking up.

"What- what's that supposed to mean?" He asked. "That's a little harsh don't you think."

"I guess it is, but that's how I've always been..." she replied.

"Really..? So you don't have any friends?" He asked.

'I want to say all of my friends that I did have are dead...' she thought.

"No..." she said, still looking down at her paper.

"Well, consider me your first then." He replied happily. "My name's James Frost."

She looked up at him. He had light brown hair with streaks of silver and his eyes were a crystal blue color. Somehow he reminded her of Jackson.

"Alright, if you're that insistent. I'm Melody Overland." She replied.

"Ah, that's a pretty name." He said smiling.

"E-eh.. Thanks..." she said, blushing slightly.

"So, what'cha drawing?" He asked, curiously.

"Oh um-" she turned her drawing around to show him. "It's- just a random couple... two characters of mine." She explained.

"Wow- thats, that's really awesome!" He said. "How'd you learn to draw so well?"

'Well I've had a few hundred years to practice.' Is what she wanted to say-

"I just draw so much, i guess." She replied. "I was featured in a few art galleries actually."

"That's super cool. I wish I could draw." He replied, just as the bell rang.

"Crap, guess we should get to homeroom. What room are you in?"

Melody packed up her things as she replied "32."

"Ah, i'm down the hall. Maybe we'll have classes together! Or I'll see you at lunch?" He said.

"Yeah." Melody smiled as they walked down the hall together and went into their classrooms.

'Maybe... could he be... Jackson...?' She thought to herself. 'Or maybe... the universe is just trying to make me happy. For this will be... my final year.'

She thought.

A/N

I had been working in this for quite a while, I believe I started writing this just after I ended My FrozenHeart. Since I cant seem to get away from My Frozen Heart, Here's an AU, in which instead of Serena being the Reincarnation of Melody, Melody had lived the 400+ years to see Jackson again due to a wish she had made- Manny had granted this wish, knowing Melody's love was so strong for Jackson.

I hope you all enjoy this. I have a few chapters written, and im not sure how long it will be.

Please leave a comment telling me what you think!
