Chapter 5: Explanation: The Past They Shared

"Alright- alright... I'll tell you- everything..."

And so he began, with the beginning of course. Telling her everything of their past together...

"And then- I died..." he sighs. "This destroyed you, yet you made a wish to live until we met again... so you lived for four hundred years. I had been reborn and living as Jack Frost- with no memories of my past, until I fought with the guardians to defeat Pitch. Then I remembered you- and finally found you..."

"And then- I died, because of the wish I had made?" She finished.

"Y-yeah... and now you were reborn and don't remember anything..." he said.

"Well- what about if we go see your other friend. You said you got your memories back through your baby teeth, maybe that will work for me as well?" Melody suggested.

"Ah? Yeah- m-maybe. I- don't know why I didn't think of that... haha..." he stands up and holds his hand out to her. "Lets go~"

"Right..." she took his hand.

The two of them flew off to see Tooth, the tooth fairy.

--Tooth's Castle--

"Well, well, Jack Frost. What brings you to my- Oh? Well, who is this young lady?" Tooth says, eyeing Melody- even though she's well aware of who she is.

"My- name is Melody, I guess… and I- was wondering if maybe you could help me… I- was reborn and lost my memories- Jack mentioned he- got his memory back when he got his baby teeth, do you.. happen to have mine here somewhere?" Melody asked, shyly, not quite sure what to make of the castle or all of the tiny flying creatures.

"Of course, I have everyone's baby teeth." She said with a smile and went to her archive to find Melody's baby teeth.

Jack and Melody wait for a bit before Tooth comes back empty handed.

"Uh… so- where are they then?" Jack asked her when she returned with nothing.

"I- don't know. I never throw out teeth. You know me, I keep everything… Where could they have gotten to…" she wonders, putting her hand to her chin thinking.

"Maybe… they never made it back from when Pitch took all of the teeth?" Jack suggests.

"I- thought I had cataloged everything was back in its proper place… I usually never make a mistake.. but, I suppose it might be possible…" she says, "I guess you could go check where he had hid the teeth?"

Melody looks back and forth at them as they talk, wondering what exactly they're talking about.

"He? He meaning Pitch? I- don't know if going back down into that hole is such a great idea…" Jack replied, looking at Tooth with a bit of a worried look.

"It- might be your only option. Or, Melody may not ever get her full memory back…" she explained, "Its your choice what you decide to do. But, you'd have to live with that choice. Thats all."

"Jack… its… okay, maybe- I'm not meant to remember. I'd hate for you to get into trouble because of me…" Melody says, looking at him but obviously a little sad hearing that she might never remember her past with him.

Jack looked back and fourth from Tooth to Melody, finally looking at Melody with a bit of a serious look.

"I'm- going to go. It's worth at least having a look, just to see if they were missed…" he said finally.

"Then I'm coming with you, of course." She replied.

"Absolutely not, its way too dangerous- there's no way I'd let you follow me to a place like that."

"But Jack," she began, but was cut off.

"But, no buts. You can stay here with Tooth until i get back." He said, firmly, clearly not going to change his mind about it.

"A-alright… okay- I'll- stay here then…" she agreed.

"Then, at least take Baby Tooth with you, so you aren't alone." Tooth said, as one of her little helpers zipped over and made some incoherent noises.

Jack chuckled, "Okay, I'll take Baby Tooth-"

The small green bird like creature, with a golden feather on the top of her head nodded, and zipped into Jack's hood for safety.

"I'm off then-" he started but was grabbed by Melody.

"Please- be careful…" she said, looking directly into his eyes, hers clearly full of worry for him.

"I'll be fine, Mel- don't be so worried…" he said with a little chuckle, getting close to her.

"Jack~" Tooth interrupted, "Get going silly."

"R-right-" he smiled and quickly kissed Melody on the cheek before flying off with Baby Tooth
