"Past relationships are difficult to get over when it comes to partners that are responsible for it. Especially when it includes the origin of infamous supervillains, such as Poison Ivy. Who paid back her late ex-boyfriend Jason Woodrue by giving him the same treatment that she gave which resulted in her transformation. Fortunately, Harley didn't have that issue since she understood what it was like to be in a bad relationship and wanted to take out someone who made their life a living hell. It can sometimes fall back if the situation isn't taken care of in the right manner, which can lead to an unpredictable outcome"

Morning-The Daily Planet

With the sun rising on another perfect day in Metropolis and its people enjoying the pleasantries of being looked after by its newest hero. Power Girl, who was right now sitting on the globe of her cousin's job enjoying a cup of coffee and doing some early patrolling from above.

"Babe! I thought you said we'd eat somewhere that has a good sight, not looking at the city!"

A voice shouted below her as it came in from her rhinoceros boyfriend, Rocksteady. Who had two bags filled with food for them to share after she'd invited him to spend time together, Karen smiled at him as she flew over to help him up onto the globe where they could share the food.

"I did have a place planned out for us; it was going to be at a rock concert that came into the city yesterday. But as always I'm on active duty looking after Metropolis."

She informed him about having to put work first since the city required a Kryptonian to look after everyone. Rocksteady said nothing but ate his donuts since it had been several days since Karen had been occupied with numerous crimes happening in Metropolis. Just as they were enjoying their company and enjoying the meal they were having, Karen felt upset about wanting to discuss something personal with Rocksteady.

"Babe? Is Ivy responsible for what happened at Lena's botanic labs?"

Asking him about the incident that resulted in the death of Jason Woodrue who was at the laboratory during the incident. The rhino felt nervous about that question since it was true that Ivy killed the scientist, it was only after hearing about him being a jerk to Ivy and attempting to kill her at the time.

"No."

The rhino responds to Power Girl leaving the Kryptonian to look through the lie as she could hear his heart beating going fast which made her see through the lie. She pulled out her phone to show him photos she had taken during an investigation as it showed a set of footsteps leaving the destroyed laboratory. What made Rocksteady nervous was the footsteps showing a set of dead plants that traveled into a manhole.

"Your boss's wife just made a walking weed man that's going to go after her and destroy the city since there were reports of sewer workers covered in thorns."

Continuing to talk about what Jason had transformed into and planning to get back at Ivy for whatever happened to him. Rocksteady bit his lip at what Karen showed him since it could get them into trouble as well as kicked out of Metropolis.

"Then we could go and handle this guy. It's been a while since I've got my hands dirty, I even brought my sledgehammer with me."

He offered to help out handling the issue and wanted to get into a fight since his arrival in Metropolis. While it was a kind gesture to let the mutant go off and aid her in this new metahuman problem, Karen refused the help since she wanted to handle it herself.

"Please. Harley and Ivy are busy looking after King Shark's kids again and Bebop is checking out bars for us to hang out at. I've got nothing to do."

Explaining what his friends were doing to keep them occupied and having nothing else to do in the city. Power Girl saw him pleading to help out to get his fill in fighting, looking at his brown eyes and moving his ears around in an attempt to make her cave in. She groaned at the attempt and flew off the globe leaving Rocksteady to tumble downward to the rooftop. Confused about why she left him alone at the Daily Planet, he heard the air swooshing and saw her coming back with a bag as she threw it to him. Looking at what Power Girl brought him; it was a costume made in his size with the house of Kal-El on the chest which caught Rocksteady by surprise.

"Bebop told me about your visit to that comic convention a while back, you made a costume that resembled my cousin. I had one made just for you, Rhino Man."

Giving him a codename if he was going to go on patrol with her to find what was left of Jason Woodrue and if he was plotting to go after Pamela. Taking a moment to change out of his clothes, the mutant rhino managed to get into his honorary superhero suit as stepped out to present himself to Karen. Placing his hands on the waist to do a dramatic pose, she laughs lightly at how him enjoying the costume and walks over to pick him up.

"Just so you know. We're taking these suits out on a date night once we find that science guy, and maybe a bit of bedroom fun at the same time."

Rocksteady informed Power Girl about messing around with his costume leaving the Kryptonian to smirk at that offer as she carried him up into the air so they could begin their search for Jason. It took a couple of seconds before Karen arrived at one of the manholes located on the street, taking a look around to see if anyone would see them. They soon entered through the hole to arrive within the sewers, Rocksteady looked around to see the halls and the water was clean to that of not having floating within it.

"Lena doesn't mess around when it comes to keeping things perfect. Shredder would have hired on the spot if she could help clean the sewers back in New York, it would have made things easier with finding those turtles."

Responding to the maintained sewer structure, he could see his reflection against the metal pipes and around that was around him. The two continued their journey through the tunnels where they didn't find anything that resembled vines or anything plant-based. Power Girl took charge and walked ahead as she used her X-ray vision to see if there was anything to indicate that Jason was around the sewers.

"With how things have been going in Metropolis and Lena Luthor taking over her brother's company. She's been trying to make the Luthor name decent like that'll ever happen."

She told him how unlike Lex Luthor who would use his wealth and technology to help the people by taking down Superman and taking a position as Earth's greatest hero. Lena was interested in making the city she lived in perfect and crime-free, however. Karen didn't seem to buy the nice act since Lena grew up around Luthor and could be acting like an angel for Metropolis, only to be a devil in disguise.

"So you don't trust her too? Harley thinks that she might be up to something, but she doesn't say it since it could ruin Ivy's position at the botanic labs."

Rocksteady spoke about while Ivy was jeopardizing her position at the laboratory for almost killing Jason, Harley didn't want to be the first to do it since they had a history with Lex screwing them out of every opportunity that was presented to the crew. Continuing to venture through the tunnels, Power Girl started to smell an unusual smell that was coming from the deepest parts of the sewer. The duo started to notice everything changing from clean wall to rotten with the scent of decay filling the air.

"Now this place is starting to smell like home. Wonder if this 'Jason' fella has food down here, it's making me miss Gotham."

The rhino enjoyed the scent coming to his nose as his pleasant thought came to a halt when he and Power Girl saw a collection of dead rats covered in vines. They looked around seeing that the transformation that changed Jason was affecting the environment he was in, which would make him a threat if he emerged to the surface. Ignoring any doubt in checking out what lay ahead of them, they reached the end to find themselves in the center of the sewers where it transports the waste to where it would be disposed of while keeping things in check.

"All these pipes connect to every home in Metropolis keeping the water flowing and running. Not exactly the place for a plant person to be in."

Power Girl explained to Rocksteady what the purpose of this area represented as it seemed a vital spot for the city. The pair continued to look around while watching their surroundings due to the plants covering the containers with spikes to prevent anyone from touching them as they felt like Jason was responsible for this. They heard the sound of pipes leaking and letting out air in an eerie tone which made Rocksteady feel uneasy as he heard a pipe dropping to the ground.

"I think we should go back up. Maybe get the gang and a bunch of guns."

He spoke out as he was feeling scared about the dead plants and vines around them leaving Rocksteady to not hear the sound of groaning coming from the shadows. Karen was able to hear it as she pulled Rocksteady away from a large branch coming from the shadows as the entrances started to get blocked off. Getting the tense feeling of being trapped around all corners, they saw something crawling out of the container was a man with wooden skin and bushes covering his body.

"I. Can smell her on both of you. The scent of Pamela Ivy."

He spoke out in a weak tone as the couple watched the creature replenish itself with the water which made his body grow muscle mass. Hesitant in fighting the walking plant, Rocksteady went forward to protect Power Girl leaving the Kryptonian to do the same since she could withstand whatever the creature might throw at them.

"Jason Woodrue."

She called out his name as the plant man twitched his head at what Power Girl said to him. The creature had trouble responding toward Power Girl as focused to respond toward her as the decayed plants reacted to the creature's movement.

"Jason. Was a fool to go against nature, to try and profit from it. The daughter of nature killed him in with his hubris, to give birth to me. Floronic Man!"

Introducing himself to the two as they reacted to his announcement in a way to honor the new plant user. Getting the feeling of a new supervillain being born in front of them, Karen wanted to rush him before he could realize his potential and take her by surprise. Rocksteady stopped her because he was getting a flashback of how powerful plants could be since he faced off against Swamp Thing with his friends.

"Just asking because I've been involved in a gross supervillain back in Gotham. Why the hell are you in the same place where garbage goes into?"

The rhino asked Floronic Man about his reason for being here since plants need sunlight and fresh air to grow stronger than being in the dampness of the sewers. Growling toward him and continuing to feed off the water that he came out of, they saw the woodman getting stronger as he stopped twitching his head.

"Unlike the chemicals I worked when I used to date Pamela, the ones that she used in an attempt to kill me resulted in this unnatural form was not from natural resources. I was experimenting with a new chemical I discovered when I attempted to visit Gotham City. It was called Mutagen."

Responding to Rocksteady, the response left him and Power Girl shocked due to the substance Jason was using was responsible for the increase of mutants that were in Gotham City. Stepping down from the water container to touch the ground, he moved his body about to adjust to the transformation as his arms changed into spears.

"I went back to the lab and gathered what was left of the mutagen to have it travel throughout the sewer. I will give everyone the same gift that Pamela gave me, the chance at rebirth. The chance for the city of tomorrow, to become the city of evolution!"

Roaring toward them before lunging toward Rocksteady and stabbing him deeply into his arms. The rhino collapsed to the ground leaving Karen to handle the fight as she saw how quickly Floronic Man was moving, just as one of his spears impacted Power Girl's stomach. It shattered into pieces due to how durable her body was but regrew in a matter of seconds as Floronic Man shot out a set of tendrils to overwhelm the Kryptonian. Seeing his girlfriend in trouble and needing help, Rocksteady ignored the injuries he'd obtained and pulled out his sledgehammer as he decapitated the mutated plant man's head off his body.

"Evolve from that. Bitch."

Making a comeback at Floronic man as they heard him laughing at the pair as the headless body punched his fist toward the ground which sprouted out numerous branches to tie them up. The body made its way toward the head and placed it back on the neck, Floronic Man smirked at the sight and started to wrap them up so they couldn't escape from his grasp.

"Nothing will stop me from changing this city. If only Ivy came to see this, I'd thank her for this new life. But she'll see it soon enough once everyone changes into their true selves."

Floronic Man told them as he was going to squeeze the life out of them. Thinking that he'd heard a bone snapping, he heard something pop out of Rocksteady's pocket. It was his cell phone that appeared to be on as someone was listening through the fight. Confused about who was eavesdropping, he heard the sound of buzzing coming from one of the entrances encased in wood where it was being cut down by a chainsaw. The one responsible was Bebop who was accompanied by Harley and Ivy as they saw their friends wrapped in tree branches and Floronic Man staring at them.

"First off. I'm upset with you because we always break stuff together, second? It's been a long damn down since I got to cut something down."

Bebop told Rocksteady as the warthog reeves up his chainsaw and ignores Floronic Man to free his friend and Power Girl. Harley and Ivy went on to handle Floronic Man as the deranged mutant plant tried to kill them but wasn't able to lay a hand on them. Ivy focused on getting rid of the branches and replacing them with her plants as she glared at Jason for what he'd become.

"I was proud of what I was before you tried to kill me, I only accepted my new self after meeting Harley. But I continued to hate myself for what I've kept hidden from her and everyone who I now consider family. With the new connections I made, I became a part of something you'll never understand. I'm a part of the Green."

Pamela informed Jason leaving him to see her eyes glowing green as she began to wrap him up with her vines and started to tear him apart. Throwing him to the ground by Harley, the clown woman grabbed a metal pipe and stabbed into his chest to keep him from escaping.

"Bebop! Let me have fun with Roberta."

She called out to give Bebop's chainsaw to her as the warthog threw it to her which allowed Harley to cut Floronic Man's head off his body. Noticing the body twitching in an attempt to regrow his body, Harley continued to cut him up to pieces staining the floor with his essence.

"It's too late. The barrels brought down have already started to travel across streets of Metropolis, the age of mutation has come."

Jason informed them about it being inevitable for any of them to stop his plan from mutating the city into various creatures. Ivy rolled her eyes at him as she lifted her finger upward which singled her vines to come into the arena where she presented Floronic man the barrels he talked about.

"My wife's good at doing things at the same time. Which you tried to do when you hooked up with her but couldn't because of your shrimp dick. Which I can barely see because of your bush."

Harley made a joke before cutting up Floronic Man's face into pieces to make sure it didn't regenerate. With the plant man dead, the branches he used started to die and collapse to the ground. The trio looked over to see Rocksteady and Karen scratched up as well as annoyed in getting saved by them since they considered themselves, needless to say, they accepted the help and would treat their friends to lunch once they cleaned up the remains of Floronic Man.

Later-Harley and Ivy's Apartment

The group left the sewers before informing Lena Luthor about what happened as well as Jason Woodrue attempting to mutate the city. Ivy had to explain how she was responsible for the death, needless to say, she understood why Pamela did it after Lena looked into the scientist's paper and read about Jason planning on leaving to make experiments that were similar to the ones that gave Pamela her powers. The five retreated to the apartment where they were having coffee to relax from preventing the city from becoming a mutated madhouse.

"To avoid any bad publicity, Lena told me I had to work from home for the time being. Other than that, I'm getting easy."

Ivy told everyone about how instead of being fired and losing their apartment, she was to resume her work here to not get any paparazzi toward Luthor Enterprises and interrupt her botanic work. Harley didn't mind since it gave her more time to spend with Ivy similar to Rocksteady who could join Karen on another patrol since it felt good to get to fight again.

"Oh, sure. Everybody gets a partner; it's going to leave me looking after the shark biters."

Bebop complained about him being the only one out of having no one to hang out with since Karai was in Gotham City. Rocksteady noticed his best friend looking upset and went over to their room to present him with a bag that was similar to the one that Power Girl gave him.

"Tell that to what's inside. Because I'm going as 'Rhino Man', I'm going need my sidekick. Mighty Hog!"

Rocksteady announced his friend's codename which made Bebop confused as he looked in the bag to see him given a suit. It looked just like Rocksteady's but without Superman's symbol on it since he wasn't in league with him. The warthog tried to keep cool since it meant he could join his friend and Power Girl on patrol if there was a need for them to fight crime together.

"Now I'm getting jealous of you two getting costumes. We should get some ourselves Ivy, I've got her chest size to make it work. You can be the legs."

Harley responding to everyone getting a costume and wanting theirs to be attractive as Power Girl's. Pamela said nothing since it would be interesting to wear that type of costume, it was interrupted with hearing the doorbell going off as she decided to answer it. Before she could read the door, it opened by itself to show the one who ringed the doorbell to be a floating drone with an emblem that Karen was able to recognize.

"That's a Brainiac drone. Why the hell is there Brainiac drone in your apartment?"

She questioned Harley and Ivy about the reason for the robot being in their presence since Brainiac had been an enemy of Superman and his people for years. Deciding to not let it do anything, she attempted to rush it to then be stopped in by an energy beam that came from the drone.

"Hey! Get that shit off my bombshell girlfriend!"

Rocksteady shouted as another beam froze him in place as it came from another drone that made its way inside of the room. Several others came in and freezes them as they couldn't move due to the beam they'd been placed in.

"Your presence has been requested by Brainiac. You are to depart immediately."

The drones informed them as it teleported the four with the exception of Power Girl as she was the only one to be left behind. Confused at what Brainiac would want with them; she was left concern as to what he'd do to them since the alien robot had attempted in the past to either kidnap her cousin or other species to make them apart of his collection. All in the while if she could find help in tracking them down before Brainiac could do anything to the four.
