Chapter 2: A Mermaid's Tale of a crush.

With Ruby and Brill, they were on the trail of this mysterious Kraken, with Brill acting like a ninja

"So the quest for this Creature has begun, it is out there, probably stocking us right now, we must find clues to where it is." He said looking around for clues.

"Could it be... here? Or there? Or anywhere? Wow, you know the triplets made dectective work so easily, I give up."

"Hey look, over here." Ruby said as she found a pit.

"Ah ha, Excellent! I knew it was here all along." Brill said as she rolled her eyes while he picked up a bit of dirt, and tasted it.

"Hm... still warm... it seems a face was planted on here... it's not human ... or Kraken either."

"And you got all that by licking it?" She said a but disgusted

"No, it could be just a pit too, I thought I'd know how to study by tasting dirt after I watched a detective movie with your brothers, or I probably got this talent after your Mom ran me over once." He said as Ruby looked surprised at that last part.

"I don't think I wanna know." But she ignored it as she brought her pet Loch Ness, Nessie, out of her bag.

"Ok Nessie, sniff it out." She said as Nessie sniffed around the area, and then he got the scent, followed it and found foot prints.

"Good Boy." Ruby said as she and Brill followed Nessie into town, with Sonic, he ran down a road that led into town, he then stopped and backed up to look at a sign and read it.

""Welcome to Oceanside, home of the Kraken protectors, the Gillmans" great out of all the places, I end up with one about water, and what's a Gillman? Guess I might be on someone else's Territory, better lay low." He then looked down to see his hand still glowing even more.

"Ok, there's something up with this, but I'll deal with it later." He said dashing off again into town.

Meanwhile in town, a tour bus that was also a boat just finished a tour, with tourists leaving.

"Thank you for coming aboard on Captain Lighthouse's tour, come again any time." Said an old man with a peg leg, talking like a sailor, who is Captain Gordon Lighthouse, along with him is a Crab on his shoulder whom he calls Davey, the Captain then breathed in his nose and let it out.

"Another successful tour, thanks to yours truly." He said as Davey snipped.

"Yes and you too, I didn't forget ye." He then started to leave.

"Take 20 Mermaid Girl, I'll be back!" He said.

"Keep a sharp lookout, Davey. Them Mermaids are Sly Devils." He said to Davey, he saluted to Captain before he left.

Leaving the Crab behind to watch a Red haired girl wearing a sailor outfit who was actually a Mermaid, and none other than Ruby's Ex bestie, Chelsea Van Der Zee, also known as, Queen Nerissa.

Davey marched back and forth like a gurad, then glared at the mermaid giving her the "I'm Watching You!" signal then back to marching, She sighed, feeling trapped, which was her fault, but doesn't want to admit it.

"How did it come to this? Me, Pretty and misunderstood, trapped in a dump like this, if Gillman didn't survive, the entire Ocean would have been in my grasp, and my people would have been free, now I feel like I'm getting wrinkles just moping." She said, then soon felt a small breeze.

"Ha, that actually feels nice." That small breeze got huge as something blew past, with her nearly falling over but caught herself, unlike Davey who fell into a bucket when he got blew away.

"Now that was unacceptable!" She said furious, about leave the bus, looking for the one responsible.

"Who in the right mind would- huh?" She saw something blue, or someone, Chelsea/Nerissa then hid.

"What is that?" She said in her mind as the thing turned around to reveal his face.

She then widened her eyes as the thing moved it's head in slow motion, Chelsea's was blushing all over, her heart beating crazy, as the creature started walking towards her.

"Hey there, you need a rescuer?" He asked with a shiny grin.

"Oh yes, free me my knight in shining armor." Chelsea said as they got so close to each other they were about to kiss, until the bell rung, Chelsea woke up to see she was daydreaming.

She looked to see her new idol was there, and he was, he looked so to his hand and then dashed off again before anyone spotting him, without noticing, Chelsea saw him from far away.

"Who was that?" She said still feeling love struck.

"I must have him! But I can't leave. Well good thing I secretly made this dummy, humans are so stupid anyway." She said bringing out a dummy version of her and left after her knight in shining armor, leaving the dummy out.

Davey was able get himself back up to keep watch of the Mermaid, he was a bit suspicious of her, but the got back to guarding... over the dummy.

Sonic felt like he searched high and low for any kind of emerald and need a place to hide from any human, he found an empty place and went inside to take cover.

"Oh man, I feel like I searched the whole place, but I couldn't find one emerald." He then sat down.

"Just where can I find them?" He looked down to his hand to see it still glowing, he took off his glove to see he it was bigger than his other hand and had tentacles for fingers.

"Whoa?" He looked to see his Legs getting bigger and longer, with two more legs, and his Tail extended out too.

"What the?!" He then saw both his hands glowing and growing longer, and he started to get bigger and bigger.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what's happening!?" He grew even more bigger and bigger until he was to big for the place, outside, Ruby and Brill still followed Nessie, who was still hot on the trail.

"You know I wish I had extra legs, man that loch ness is fast." Brill said as he was once again out of breath, Nessie then pointed to the building, where the "Unknown Kraken" is hiding.

"Great job, Ness." Ruby said petting him.

Then they heard something coming out of the bushes.

"Come back my Knight-" Said Chelsea/Nerissa, she then stopped to see her Ex bestie and they both gave each other the stink eye.

"Ruby."

"Chelsea... Nerissa... whatever your name is."

"Awkward." Brill whispered to Nessie.

"What are you doing here? None of your business!" They said at the same time.

"How do you escape from Gordon?" Ruby asked.

"I have my ways, that don't concern you." Nerissa replied.

"Oh yeah, you're all pretty and misunderstood, how could I've been so blinded?"

"Why Thank you, you know me so well." She said as Ruby grew a vine on her head.

"I was being Sarcastic!"

"I wasn't."

"Whatever! Shouldn't you have another tour to do?"

"Shouldn't you be on a Royal business?"

"Well, now that you've said it-" Brill said as Ruby then covered his mouth.

"That is none of YOUR concern, and FYI, my job is more difficult than yours."

"Excuse Moi?! Do you have any idea how many times my hair has been pulled by little brats?"

"I wish I had popcorn." Brill whispered to Nessie, just then they both saw the building in front of them quaking.

"Uhh... girls?" He tried to get their attention.

"Oh yeah? Well try to save a sinking cruise ship, you can't!"

"Maybe if I had, I Dunno, the Trident still on me, I can do whatever I want to any ship!"

"Girls!"

"We'll maybe you'd still have it, If You Hadn't Lied To Me And Almost Killed My Family And Friends!"

"Well Didn't Your Mommy Tell You Not To Trust A Mermaid?!"

"Girls!"

"I Was In A Desperate Phase!" Ruby blushed.

"Well If Your Mom Hadn't Lied To You Your Whole Life, We Would Have Been Best Friends Then Enemies Sooner."

"I'd Just Be Your Enemy Anyway If That Made Sense!"

"Girls!!"

"Shut Up You Fat Idiot!"

"Don't You Talk To Him Like That!"

"GIRLS!!!"

"WHAT!?!?!?" They Shouted, Brill pointed behind them, they looked to see the building quaking, they went to hide as then something huge busted open the roof, and it revealed to be Sonic as a Giant Weird looking Kraken Like Hedgehog.

His eyes are still green but with weird symbols inside his pupils, the inside of his Ears are dark blue with suctions inside, the Tan around his mouth is now light blue, His Hair and Spikes on his back extended longer with a line of suctions on each, his arms are now Blue and more longer with white hands and Fins on each wrist and tentacles for fingers, the inside of his chest was the same only light blue with Ancient markings, he has 4 legs, each with Red feet and a white stripe horizontally, Ankles have some kind of white fin around, and His Tail Extended out, being the size of his legs, looking like a fifth leg, but more like a flipper.

"Whoa, whoa whoa!" Sonic struggled balancing on 4 feet and took one step at time getting out of there, causing alot of destruction.

"Oops." He said leaving the area and hid in the trees.

"Right, surely no one noticed, just find a place to hide, until I somehow shrink, I'll worry about finding the emeralds later." He said looking around for a place to hide while laying low and without noticing, Ruby and the Rest widened their eyes.

"Is this how you felt when you found out about me at the library?" Ruby asked Chelsea.

"Oh yeah." She replied.

"We found it! We found the other Kraken." Brill cheered.

"But that couldn't be a Kraken, he looks so weird." Ruby examined.

"Kraken? You mean your not here for a Handsome looking Dog?" Nerissa asked.

"What?" Ruby and Brill both looked at each other.

"Earlier, I saw a Blue spike looking dog with gloves and shoes and followed it here."

"Hmm, I dunno what you saw, but since it came up here which we happen to be here for, I think that Kraken is this person thingy your looking for." Brill said as Nerissa widened her eyes in realization.

"All you want is a Knight in shining armor, and all I get is a Kraken." She moaned.

"Ok, how about this, you help us out and I'll explain to the Captain everything if he finds out your little trick, so... Truce?" Ruby said holding out her hand.

"...For now." Chelsea held out her and and they shook on it, and the group left, following this new creature.
