Chapter 8:Sandy Days
In another part of the world right now to be more correct the city of vacuo to be more correct the home of certain family that being the scarltinas. As it was nighttime right now as all the residents in the great city where sleep all except for one person that being jaki hayely. As he wore a simple pair of black swetapnts with an icy blue shirt on. The man was up very late right now for one reason thinking about many things that led him to where he was today.
That being why he even came here in the first place to try and find out where his daughter was. But now hearing that his other daughter was kidnapped recently was tearing him apart. Hes all the way over across the continent while both his girls could be dead.
In his hands was a picture that showed his girls with him and his wife. He was holding calida close as his daughter rogue was smiling at the camera while his daughter eria gave an icy stare at the camera. He stared ahead in the photo smiling…because this was the day they got accepted into beacon.
"I should have kept an eye on you more. I knew i shouldn't have trusted that boy giving him my blessing to date you. He drags you along to kill people."jaki begun as he placed the photo down before placing his hands on a railing close by clenching it tight.
"I should have checked if you were alright…i should have seen if you wanted to seek help for your grief."jaki continued starting to slowly freeze the railing infront of him at that moment as ice hissed over it until someone cleared their throat.
"Jaki your rather up early today, pretty sure you'd be asleep right now"a male voice spoke up as he glanced looking at will scarltina wearing a simple pair of light brown silk pants with a white t-shirt.
"Oh will sorry i…just couldn't sleep right now old friend is all"jaki said letting go of the railing infront of his friend home. But will noticed it covered in ice chuckling joining his side.
"I take it your still very worried about your daughters. But rest assured their safe i know they are"will reassured again for the hundredth time
Jaki held his head looking at the picture in his hands"how would you know old friend? My own little girl left home to try and kill people. It hurts to hear that she would even consider anything like that"he replied as his voice cracked slightly.
Will sighed because they've known each other for a pretty long time but it hurt seeing his friend acting like this. Right now hes very worried about his little girl since apparently her and that girlfriend of hers which worried him as well along with her dealing with the loss of someone she loved. Placing a hand on his shoulder jaki turned to him.
"I know it does my friend. I'm very worried about my daughter myself right now but we just need to look for the positives right now."will reassured him before patting him on the shoulder.
"Because tomorrow i got some news for you"will added before walking back inside as jaki chased after him wondering what it was
"What is it? Did you get a letter that was meant for your daughter from my little girl?"jaki asked eagerly making will sigh slightly shaking his head.
"I'll explain it to you tomorrow old friend alright. Because it'll be very impotant related to well…i'll talk about tomorrow"will said before he could question him further will entered a bedroom that was where the man wife was. The weaponsmith stood in the living room deciding to return to the room they provided.
Once inside the room it was rather simply since it was just one bed big enough for him since he doesnt like the traditional hammocks of the area. But he just fell onto the bed face first right now. He felt very exhausted right now and sleep sounded alright.
Jaki slipped under the covers to get comfy for tonight as he still held the picture in his hands. The man then held it close to his heart as he may be emotionless at times but he was hurt not knowing where his daughters where right now as he drifted to sleep.
All he hopes for right now is the safe return of his daughters wherever they are right now in the world. As he soon let sleep take over for a new day to rise over the city.
After a night of sleep jaki didn't know how long he was out right now as he was slowly opening his eyes right now. Mainly because something was stirring him awake as the sound of several things could be heard mainly things being moved around from the sound of it. As the man opened his eyes regretting it slightly as the sun shined through the windows.
But soon he opened his eyes rubbing them for a moment as he wondered what time it was right now. As he reached for his scroll to check it showed that it was around nine am right now, last night he recalled being up at three am being unable to sleep.
"Alright what is going on….why do i hear movement outside the room"jaki thought before thinking it might be some bandits
Quickly retrieving his dane axe he gripped it tight in one hand as he approached the door to the outside of his room slowly. Once he reached for the handle to open the door it clicked open startling him as he moved his axe back ready to chop off anyone head.
But instead of an insutrder he was met by a pair of rabbit ears that being meg as the women stared at him with his axe in hand.
Their was silence as she broke it"well if your thinking of training in your current attire. Your picking a rather odd time of doing it"meg joked making him sigh before relaxing his stance.
"Sorry dear i'm just rather startled is all. I heard alot of movement this morning and i…"jaki was stopped as he peered into the room past her.
The movement in question was that being several people in workers uniforms that being some causal clothing. But with a jacket on them that showed a stroke carrying a box on its back. As their were several people packing up things along with moving furniture out of the house. The man placed his axe on the desk in the room before grabbing his glasses to adjust his vision.
The weaponsmith quickly figured out what that surprise was that will mentioned last night meaning that he was moving back to mistral it seems. Already dressed up with a suitcase in hand was will. He noticed him awake.
"Ah my friend. It seems i woke you up with the surprise this morning. How'd you sleep?"will aksed as he was sighing a clipboard right now.
"Here you go please make sure everything is handled with care"he added talking to the worker taking the clipboard walking off.
"I slept fine my friend. Though i thought we weren't leaving for mistral for another few days"jaki asked
Will sighed rubbing his eyes"actually i just recently got a letter from the general. I'm required to return to atlas right now."he said taking a seat as the workers still packed up and moved boxes out of the houses placed neatly inside cardboard. Meg joined them as the dinning table still remained.
"But what about your daughter and her things? She would be very upset to see you leave without saying her goodbyes"jaki said
"I know she will but we really need to leave. But well…"meg tried to find the words but paused which meant their was a big but.
"I assume that the surprise is resolved around your daughter and her leader?"jaki knowingly asked as the man snapped his fingers.
"Right you are my friend, look i know she volunteered to go on that expedition to vale. Which worries me dearly right now. But i was thinking that since i need to head to atlas and i want to make sure my wife gets to mistral safely."he begun before taking the man hands for a moment.
"I'm hoping you can go check on her for me and her friends. Their will be a ship leaving for vale in a couple days since theodore will send a pickup for them. Could you do that for me?"will asked but begged it seems.
It made him freeze for a moment for asking for such a request right now he still very worried about his daughter right now. But also understands as a father himself he'd be worried if his kid was in some grimm infested city right now. With reports of two grimm knights being their.
As he was deep in thought meg decided to pull one card that might work.
"Maybe your daughter might be their, i heard that lynx who was related to her leader keeps visiting…someone graces"meg mentioned
Jaki sighed that she even suggested that"Dear i don't need you to try and bribe me to go their. You and me are good friends i'll go check on her for you."jaki gave his answered which made will smile upon hearing that.
"Excellent my friend, i asked around the city for someone to take you in. grab your things and we'll head their"will said as jaki got up from his seat returning to his room closing the door. It felt rather strange to be leaving her after staying her for quite a while he still not used to the atmosphere of this awful place no wonder it has the least favorite academy.
After making sure he had everything he grabbed his outfit changing into it. As he quickly packed his things into his suitcase along with another one. Along with his trusty toolkit for any use when he needs to repair a weapon on the fly.
But after maybe after twnety minutes he soon returned with his luggage in hand along with his weapon strapped to his back. He had a light blue suitcase in one hand with a backpack on his back since he brought some things from home.
"Their you are my friend, now lets get going to meet this esteemed family i heard about"will said
Jaki just gave a simply nod to him as they left the home as the movers were still in the process of moving everything in the home into a cargo truck to take it to the scarltina new home in mistral.
But across town right now all the way in the outside part of the capital right now sat a about thirty minutes outside the capital was a camp. But the camp was actually very large in appearance as it was property that was owned by one person it seems. Around the entire property the front entrance was heavily guarded with eight patrols guards out front holing automatic weapons with a metal door for porection. These guards were the hired gun of the despardos standing at the ready.
While the entire front entrance had barbed wire surrounding the place along with wooden large tree spikes tied together. Around the entire property their were four towers in total that had soldiers stationed in them with heavy caliber turrets at the ready for any bandits or grimm that come their way. While their were also several house just on the side of the property varying in size and shape.
Inside the camp their were several soldiers at the ready doing drills with their insutrctors running around the base preparing for anything. While their was also four hangers that contained bullheads, gunship and even a few transport ships. Their were even a couple cargo ship all bearing the depsardos colors and ensigna. While several of them where all preparing for anything right now as in the center of the camp sat a flagpole. The flag blew oin the winds that was colored black with the picture of the skull withs it lower jaw off with a cowboy hate atop it symbolizing its group.
But right now in the main building of the camp was someone very busy right now that being decker looking over a map of the capital but their were two others by his side. The first being a male and the second a female.
The male seemed to be in his mid hrities as he had slightly tan skin with short brown colored hair. He had a three slash marks on his neck from a bladed weapon it seems. He had a average build to him standing at 5.8 ft tall.
While his attire consisted of the standard despardo outfits that being a pair of blue jeas with greaves on his legs with some kneepads as well. Over that he wore a simple black hoodie with the leeves tornoff. As he wore a pair of fingerless gloves with armor on his biceps along with pauldrons on his shoulders. On his back was a flamethrower from the looks of it as he had dewrag tied around his head.
The women seemed to be in her mid twenties as she had a set of deep green eyes along with very pale skin despite living in vacuo. While her hair was toxic green tied into a pair of twintails. As she had a slender build to her along with a modest bust standing at about 5.2ft tall.
The outfit she was was wearing consisted of a long sleeve crop top shirt colored dark grey. Along with wearing a pair of blue jean shorts that reached the middle of her thighs showing her toned legs. While she wore pair of puke green sneakers that looked very worn down. Along with that she sported a gas mas on her face that showed her eyes.
On her back was a large tank like storage device with a small case attached to it as the container obsuecred what was inside the canister.
As the three were in silence the girl was patting her knees rather impatiently right now hating the silence. She kept patting her knees for a bit until the man snapped.
"Can you stop patting your dam knees already its annoying!"he shouted praticuarly making the women yelp slightly.
"Sorry its just that well…the silence is killing me rigth now. I..i'm just trying to pass the time"she replied quickly
The man rubbed his eyes"kinda obvious where trying to figure out how to deal with a certain problem right now remember"he retorted as the girl seemed rather annoyed taking a breath through her gas mask.
"Well sitting her with our thumbs up our butts isn't doing anything right now"she retorted as he glared at her.
"You aint helping with noxa becuase all you've down is just sit their and keep tapping your dam knees"he countered making her stand up glaring at him despite her gas mask.
"Hey at least i aint standing their looking like an idiot…idiot"the women known as noxa tried to retort as he looked at her being childish right now.
"How in the name of remnant did you even join the military. Seriously your like a dam child at times it fricking frustrating"the man said
This made noxa kick him in the knee as he went wide eyed jumping up and down right now holding in rubbing it to numb the pain.
"Gah! You dam brat! I swear to remnant i'm going to clock you if you weren't a women"he groaned as the girl gave a proud huff crossing her arms under her bust.
"Suck it brann because i'll mop the floor with you. I remeber that sandra even whooped your butt and shes a medic"noxa retorted
This resulted in the two to start getting in a bickering match right now going back and forth with each other. As decker sat their as anger was slowly boiling right now as he slowly put pressure on the cigar in his mouth right now. Anger was soon reaching the boiling point as noxa and brann got into it by scrapping with each other.
After a few minutes of this he had enough before slamming his hand on the table getting their attention right now.
"Enough you two! Knock that shit off before i have half a mind to send you two on latrin duty got it!"decker shotued in rage chomping down on his cigar cutting it half.
Right now noxa had brann in a headlock as his face was close to her bust as he was blushing slightly. But the two quickly separated before they both stood tall placing their hands behind their back saluting their comamdning officer.
"Sorry sir we won't do that again"noxa qucikyl apolgized to him.
"Same here sir, terrible sorry the silence has been killing us for the past hour"brann added
Decker sighed before sitting back down"at ease you two sit back down. Your not wrong about the silence killing yah same applies to me"he said before the two quickly returned to their seats.
Then he pulled out a cigar box his preferred brand as he opened the wooden box retrieving a fresh cigar. As he then retrieved a gulitontine cutter as he placed the end of the cigar in it. Then he pressed down on it snipping a piece off. Then he closed the box placing it in his mouth.
"Well then what are we planning to do sir. We sent about six of our squads into that city and well in my opinion it was a bad call"brann stated his opinion.
Noxa huffed"the might leader of paladin squad is scared of a few grimm. Please most of us may be discharge from the military for stupid reason or retiredd..or left because of stupid orders"she stated before propping her feet up on the table.
"But we showed atlas who the better military group, we may be mercs. But seriously they pulled all their troops back hiding them behind their grand floating city"she added snarky.
Decker pulled out a match swiping it against the box lighting it right now before holding it up to the cigar. The flame eventually light it as he took a deepbreath from his cig before exhaling with a plum of smoke from his nostril.
"Look i understand your concern mickey, but i had a favor i need to cash in. along with that you woudln't agree that this is what my outfit is all about"decker said as brann listened to him itnetly judging his conviction it seems.
"Helping those in need and taking in soldier who were kicked out for stupid reason. If i recall you got kicked out for what was it again?"he asked kwnoignyl looking at him
The soldier growled slightly crossing his arm knowing he wanted to hear his answer.
"I got kicked out for defending my friend after our dam C.O. assaulted him in the showers. I'm happy he left afterwards but the poor bastard still hasn't been the same since. I'm happy with the work were doing but look at our numbers right now"brann said before walking over to a filing cabinet.
He began to dig through it for a bit until finding a file throwing it onto the table. That file being a list of the soldiers under their command along with those they lost during the fall along within the last month.
"Were losing soldiers right now cutting our numbers down severely. Seriously every dam week we send someone back into that city they return with body bags"brann said
Noxa rubbed her arms for a moment"okay i can agree with you on that is troubling. Buts it what they sighed up for isn't it?"she asked receiving a glare from him making her sink in her seat.
"Look i know that what their sighed up for. But i've been having to break the news to people here about their loved one being dead. And…i seriously can't take it anymore"brann admitted rubbing his eyes that looked very tired.
"Eventually we need to pull out of that city if we don't get anymore…"brann was stopped receiving a look from decker silncing him as he returned to his seat.
Then decker stood up walking over to a window overlooking the property right now. He stared at the new recruits which wasn't much since some arent willing to join a group of ex soldiers since most of them would be reuqired to go through strict training to be on par with them. But he knows they should pull out of that city soon but he wanted to honor torch wish on making sure that city wasn't lost.
Their the last thing standing between those grimm and apparent mercenaries taking it over. Along with that he heard report of the crimson talon leader hassan being in the area which meant he was paid to properly do some dirty work.
Taking another puff of his cigar as he blew smoke outside the window as the sun shined bright into the room as he turned to face them.
"I understand that is concerning with our current loses. I don't like it either having to break the news to those who died during the fall. Alot of people where lost that day"decker sadly started before tapping his ashes into a nearby ash tray slightly.
"But i do agree we should pull out but where the last stand with the huntsman and huntresses their. We need to retake that city back so we can start rebuilding it. It'll take time but i can talk with theodore maybe about maybe sending word to some huntsman or huntress to join up. Maybe even do a dumb recruitment drive"decker explianed before walking toward the exit of the building.
"I suggest you two get things in order here. I'll be thinking about tonight though mick you still on for poker tonight at the club?"decker asked
Brann sighed rubbing his eyes"i am seriously i'm going to beat that dumb lion tonight. Tricky cat always keeps beating me….and that monkey faunus"he said firmly.
Decker laughed slightly as he took another puff of his cig"good because i plan on too shame adel aint here. But you two get your work done today and then your dismissed"he said as they saluted him separating from him as he walked down the halls past his soldiers for a bit.
After a bit he reached another room before stepping inside that being his room that had a two person bed, along with a desk and a dresser for his clothing and military gear. Along with a rack of weapons varying in sizes and types on it. As he flipped the lights on he took his beret off placing it on a desk as he sat on the bed as it creaked.
The man held his head trying to wrap his brain around on how to solve this issue because it'll be at the cost of his entire military oraganization.
"Should visit theo later when i get a chance…but i need a nap"decker said falling onto his bed not bothering to go under the sheets as he drifted off to sleep right now to escape his troubles for just a bit.
After leaving scarltina former home they left the home as it was daylight out right now. As everyone in the capital were hard at work enjoying their daily routine right now for the day. But he could feel the tension in the air still despite it being the appearance of several huntsman and huntresses right now.
As all of them were gearing up for any sigh of trouble right now from the looks of it which worried him right now.
"Alot of huntsman and huntresses out today? Any idea why?"jaki asked
Will shook his head"no idea my guess is gathering up anyone that will be heading to the city to assist them in clearing it out. Some of them are willing too but some are from nearbying cities i heard"he answered
Meg nodded carrying a basket in her hands it seems that might contain something for this mysterious benefactor taking him in.
"It might be also the increase of those bandits and cultist in the area"meg stated her concern
"Ah yes i recall about their being a local cult in the kingdom. Who were they again…"jaki tired to find the words until he accidentally bumped into someone kncoking him flat on his back.
"Ow! That really hurt watch where your going"a female voice said as he adjusted his glasses to regain his vision.
Then he stood up offering a hand to the person"i'm sorry miss i didn't mean too.."he stopped at who he was seeing infront him. That being meadow who was wearing what she wore long ago during the vytal festival.
Meadow rubbed her head for a moment helping herself up since he paused at that moment. But then she went wide eyed slightly seeing him.
"Oh …its nice to um meet you again. "Meadow greeted with a bow
Jaki waved his hand"don't be so modest dear. Its nice to see you again i'm terrible sorry for running into you i was just lost in my own world."he replied as she smiled slightly.
"Well sometimes people get lost when their little world. Though…i heard what happened to your daughter i hope she gets home safe"meadow consoled
"I hope so too though….how are you doing right now dear?"jaki asked as she decided to join them as they walked down the market still taking in the sight.
Meadow rubbed her arm for a moment"i've been better as of late. Though um…well..rusty been better i guess. But tama…"she paused at that which meg noticed.
"Oh your leader, how is she dear because i heard you two aren't taking your teammate being gone"meg sadly said
This made meadow have a wave of grief wash over her right now as the girl had an upset look with tears starting to form. As the bunny faunus quickly relazleid she hit a sensitive topic right now. She decided to try and quickly fix it.
"Oh i'm so sorry dear, i didn't need to be rude…please accept my consoelcens"meg apolgozied setting the basket down.
Then she did something unepxcted pulling the young girl into an embrace who cracked slightly burying her face into the women shoulder right now crying into it. Jaki didn't expect this to happen on their little trip but understood that the girl was very much hurt right now. It just reminded of him how his tinkering daughter acted about her leader being gone she must be in pain.
"Its okay just let it out dear"meg said soothingly.
This went on for a few minutes until the sound of someone footsteps could be heard running toward them until someone snatched the girl from the rabbit arms.
"The hell are you doing to my teammate rabbit?"a female voice growled at meg
The women looked up to see the current leader of team Tamaska Flores who was now sporting something different than her usually attire.
That being a pair of leather pants that were jean shorts that reached the middle of her thighs. While she wore a pair of light purple legging to complete them with a pair of leather boots colored black with spikes on the end of them. Along with sporting the same armor on her legs and armor on her calves. But the light shade of purple on them were slightly faded mixed with some scratches on them.
She still wore her signature biker jacket with small spikes on the shoulder. But traded it out by tearing the sleeves off to reveal her toned arms undenreatth it. While she wore a different t-shrit compared to her gray fox shirt. That being a brown shirt with a pair of deer antlers on it.
Her weapon was strapped to her side at the ready as she held meadow for dear life.
Meg dusted herself off standing up as her back cracked slightly"nothing i was just consoling her dear. We were talking and she started to cry"she answered as meadow still had some tears on her face.
Tamaska backed up holding her tight"bullcrap. You probably giving her crap why the heck should i believe you? Your daughter dated a monster"she commented with venom in her tone.
Jaki sighed stepping forward"young lady you need to relax. Meg over here was just checking up on the poor girl. She acidnelty mentioned your teammates you–"he was stopped as tamsska let meadow go then surpsignly shoved him back creating some distance between them slightly.
"Oh you mean my partner that died because of that stupid loudmouth dragging him along to save your daughter?"tamaska growled at him
This made him back up hearing that right now rather hurt from that commnet. Because it seems she as well doesn't like his daughter's team.
"Dear their is not need to be rude. Your friend died as a huntsman with honor"will stated with some pride it seems
But this seemed to peeve tamaska off letting meadow go who hugged herself looking down not liking her acting like this it seems. Tamsksa got in the man face before jabbing him in the chest.
"Listen here buddy i don't care who you are. But shut the hell up about my partner. He died because of his damn daughter running off or whatever. And he get killed by some dumb scoprian faunus while i watched carrying off some injured chick with a busted leg"tamaska begun cosntously jabbing him in the chest.
Meadow decided to chim in"tama please don't start a scene right now. Please"she begged but was ignored.
"Another thing for the all mighty weaponsmith that seems to be showing compassion all of sudden"tamaska said turning her attention to jaki who kept a clam demanor to him.
The girl had a mix of rage and sorrow across her face before realing her hand back slapping him across the face as he didn't even react which left a red mark across his face.
"Its your daughter dam leader fault hes dead. I'm happy that thing is burning in the deepest pits of hell right now. Along with that seriously that dumb rabbit upset over a monster shes a freak. And your daughter going missing is a sigh that their getting what what they deserve"tamaska said making the man go wide eyed at that statement. Then she walked off placing her hands in her pockets.
It was an awkward silence right now as meadow decided to apolgize on her teammates behalf.
"I'm…i'm so sorry for her beavhior..she..she just taking his death pretty bad. She doesn't mean it"meadow begged it seems.
Jaki had a few tears to his eyes hearing that thinking maybe it was a sign that his daughter were gone for a reason. Because he never really disciplined them that much as kids maybe causing rogue to fall in with a bad crowd. But she was such a sweet girl who wouldn't do anything to harm anyone let alone….kill anyone.
Then their his other daughter who gets kidnapped maybe her prothseitc manlfunctioned and it was his fault maybe. Part of him told him that wasn't the case but his worry made him think about it.
"Your alright dear…i know she hurt. But she doesn't need to disrespect my daughter and her team. Those two cared about their leader…but she didn't need to say that"jaki replied fighting the urge to chase that girl and slap her upside her head for her rude behavior.
"Yes i know your family has gotten a bit of backlash for being associated with him. But don't worry my friend at least some know when not to be rude"will reassured
"I wouldn't mind giving that girl a piece of my mind though. Sorry my little girl loved someone…dam brat"meg said with venom cracking her knuckles because she may look delicate but she can teach someone a lesson.
"Yeah well i'm going to go check up on her alright. I'm terrible sorry thank you…for trying to make me feel better"meadow replied as she quickly sped off to chase her leader down to check on her. As they stoodin silence for a moment as they decided to keep heading through town for a bit.
But as they did a loud gunshot rang out surprising them right now which caught them offguard that sounded very close from a certain part in town grabbing their attention.
"Gunshots at this time of day whats happening?"meg questioned scared as her ears flopped over her head.
"I don't know but i'm checking it out it might be something serious"jaki said taking out his weapon before handing his suticase to will.
Then he spritned off toward the direction of the gunshot as it was close to one place a gunshot would be very common that being shade academy. He quickly reached the place as a crowd was gathered around the momentum to those they lost during the fall.
But they got their as their were a few despardos their along with two others in the center of town right now. But one of them was a male and the other a female on each side as the male person was down on the ground cltuhcing his leg as it bled.
"Now its rather rude to try and destory something so lovingly for those we lost you creep"the women said
The women in question has light tanned skin with long back length wavy auburn hair with a single silver streak along with a crismon colored scarf around her neck. She has gold colored eeys with freckles on her face. She wears a dark navy cropped long sleeved shirt with a metal chain like top attached, a silver shoulder cape with a crimson trim. She also wears crimson colored torn off booty shorts with thight high black leather boots with folder over tops and small lace up detaiining.
On her right torso is a black stylish tattoo running down to her upper right leg. On top of her head is a pair of goggles. On her waist is a black belt that sheathes her weapons along with a single belt on the right sleeve and left leg. Finally she also wears worn bandages on her wirst.
The man cried in pain as his leg gushed blood"you bitch! You shot me for no reason. I was doing nothing wrong!"he shouted
The woman laughed"oh i'd be happy to teach you some manners,"she said in a cold tone. However before she could pull the trigger another shot rang out hitting the gun out of her hand. She almost goraned wodnering who did that facing the shooter with a surprise look being jaki.
Jaki submachine barrel smoked slightly as he apporached her as the people murmured slightly.
"What are you doing to that man exactly? Because i'm sure public executions are illegal here depsite you have such a bandit like city"jaki said keeping his weapon at the ready.
The women laughed slightly"i wasn't going to execute him just mess with him for what he was doing."she said in a sweet voice but he wasn;t falling for it.
"I don't care what you were doing. All i'm seeing is you shooting an inncoent man"jaki spat but the soldiers with her seemed to argue otherwise.
"Uhh sir, she actually has a point. Because this psycho was planning on blowing up the momentument here"a soldier said gesturing to a bag close by. One soldier retrieved it unzipping it revealing its content.
He went wide eyed seeing a large stockpile of C4 mixed in with some dust shards and crystal even. Jdugign by the amount it was large enough to destory the monument but along with leveling the area around it even part of the academy if he wanted to.
Quickly holstering his weapon"And why exactly would he be doing that?"jak questioned for some answered.
Then from the side someone decided to speak up on the matter emerging from the crowd.
"That because that psycho over their is probably one of those unseen eye followers."a women voice spoke up as he turned to face her.
That being a women who seemed in her mid fotrites with fair skin with long jet black hair that reached her back with a pair of dark blue eyes with dark blue highlights. She wears a dark red square neck crop top that presented a bit of her clevage. As she had black lining it as she sported a pair of gravestone earring.
While she wears a black long skirt that reaches the sandy dunes to stay modest as. On her right and left arm she had some arm warmers their thin enough to not die from the heat colored dark grey as well. While she had a couple pouches on her waist, along with that sporting a golden wedding ring on her right hand.
However, in her arms was a bouquet of roses along with a bag in the other, it seems that it contained some candles from the looks of it. While on her lip was a small scar barely noticeable.
"I take it, you know this woman?"jaki asked as she nodded looking at her.
"Carmine, is he one of those psychos that have been going around lately?"the women asked, seeming like an old friend of hers from how they were chatting.
The women nodded"yep lilith, we got ourselves another one of these psycho cultist here"she said as the man felt shocked by that accusation.
"I'm not one of those…p..p..py…pys.."he couldn't even find the words as he decided to drop the act right now.
"You shouldn't be stopping our progress for our speaker. The speaker demanded we fix the statue to represent what truly happened to that blasted tower. That it lays in ruin thanks to the ones who desotyred that awful city. With the help of the knights of–"he was stopped as jaki placed a hand on his mouth.
The man was rather annoyed before socking him across the jaw making him slump over in an instant as he was passed out. The soldier then cuffed him before cofnistating the explosives as they were taking him away. This was when the crowd decided to disperse right now.
Right after that will and meg caught up as will was panting for air right now as meg was causaulyl walking over.
"Ah their you are jaki. We were worried if you got into trouble"meg said walking over eyeing the people he's with.
"Who are you two?"she added
The first women offered a hand to jaki who took it shaking her hand with a firm gripp but she yelped slightly rubbing her hand because it felt very cold right now.
"For starters, name carmine escaladores. I'm a resident huntress here in the city though your hands are pretty cold"Carmine said rubbing her hand trying to warm it up by blowing on it.
Will caught his breath chcukling"thats my friend for you the man with the coldest demonor and the coldest touch"he joked making the weaponsmith groan from hearing that pun.
"Must you make such terrible puns? Because qutie franticall that was terrible"jaki coldy said confirming his cold demoner.
Lilith chuckled slightly"at least your not like someone i know. Though i'm lilith forger pleasure to meet you"she itnroduced herself with a small bow.
"I'm meg and this is my husband will. Were the scarltinas"meg introduced herself
Carmine finally got her hand warmed up"oh right heard about you big shot in atlas last i recall. Heard you've been helping the people of the fall supplying porshetics to people"she said before eyeying him for a moment.
"That means your jaki hayley weaponsmith exotornar"she added
"That would be me though, is that type of thing very common here.?"jaki aksked which made Carmine have an unpleasant look come to her face.
"We do thing is we try to get rid of those freaks. But they keep coming back like cockroach faunus though lucky me and the despardo here provide a police form. Along with the vacian police as well"carmine said
"You run your own miltia or do you serve under the government?"jaki questioned
"Sort of like my own gang but don't worry we aint so bad. Though nice talking to yah gotta run back to my property"carmine said saunterring off in a different direction. Then lilith took this chance approaching the monument as she gentle placed the bouquet at the head of it.
Then she placed the down gently as it clinked reaching inside to retrieve a candle with a skull imprint on it. It had a dark blue wax candle inside it still solid. Then she gently placed it on the base of the monument before taking a small match lighting the candle.
The flame started to flicker as she gently arrange them like she was mourning for someone. This made jaki curious slightly wondering if she lost someone during the fall of beacon.
"I take it you lost someone during the fall as well"jaki somberly asked as lilith nodded
"I did, i take it you three where on your way to visit the memorial to pay your respects"lilith asked but they werne't though will wouldn't mind for his daughter two teammates.
'We weren't but i'll be leaving today. I should pay my respects to my daughter teammate and her partner."will replied kneeling infront of it as he closed his eyes which made lilith curious who he was mourning.
"Who would they be if you don't mind me asking?"lilith softly asked
"They would be fox allistor and yatsuhashi daichi. If your wondering their should be a picture of them on them here. If its not torn down or blew away"will softly asked still hurt that his daughter is going through such grief. Jaki was curious about that picture too glancing it which revealed that party that was thrown to cheer his little girl up.
But it resulted in causing even more heartbreak since she told him it made her so happy that her friends would do that for her. He saw many missing people from that photo closing his eyes deciding to say who he was mourning.
"If your wondering who i might know here that would be pyrrha nikos, tanner mcckay and finally…"jaki couldn't even finish the words as lilith spoke up.
"Your talking about the boy name that crossed out. Zane graves I presume?"lilith suddenly said catching him offguard hearing her say that regretting talking to her guessing she is going to belittle him for his daughter team.
"If your going to talk ill of my daugther team i suggest you don;t"jaki warned but this seemed to hrut the women who shook her head. She gently placed the boqueut with all the other flowers standing up before giving a somber look to him.
"I knew his mother. I was very good and close friends with her back in the day"lilith correct to his shock as he guess this women was friends of nadia or that amber the girl on her team. He recalled those two back in the day
"You mean the savage huntresses, seems you know of that rough boxer"he coldy replied but she gave a puzzled look right now.
"I think your mistaken by that. His mother was hel graves i don't even know who your talking about right now."liltih corrected to his surprise actually hearing of that. Which meant that boy family might be here but he heard they died.
"Oh really? I feel sorry for her why would she leave her son in the care of that women did they know each other?"meg asked which seemed to hurt lilith.
"That women is dead, she died a very long time ago. Along with her husband i heard rumor of her son being dead but i guess that was wrong. All i hope now is that she glad to be reunited with her family. "Liltih replied harshly making the womnes ears flopp over.
"I'm sorry. Though if it means anything sorry for your loss my daughter did date him though it was nice meeting you"meg said as the women nodded apperciaitng it. Then she took her leave as she let the candles burn as the flames flickered slightly as everyone cotninued on to their day.
"We should get going to meet that friend of mine"will said as they took their leave but jaki was wondering who this mysterious benefactor was right now.
Seems we got to see what jaki is up to in vacuo while decker seems to be struggling with gathering forces for his group. Though with the return of tamaska and meadow from team TMBR. Along with introducing carmine and lilith who has connections to zane family it seems. Thanks for reading!
