chapter 9:Inheritance
Zane and company were traveling through the hall of memories it seems as bane quickly told them where they were. They were moving through the place in a formation with bane guiding them through the place. While in the back was velvet watching them with coco mingun. Vance had his pistol out at the ready for any foes. Zane had one revolver out with one sword to defned himself. Nebula stayed in the middle ready to fire at anything from a distance. Celeste just hung out.
"So mind telling us where this memories might be?"nebula asked
"Yeah because this place is massive. It might take us days to find it"vance said as it zoomed out to reveal the large mass like area. Then it zoomed back in.
Bane rubbed his chin"for starters if the memories of mental suggestion is related to the lab. It would be in lab trauma"bane said pointing to a far part of the place
The place in question a very dark and barley lit part of the place with a neon sigh reading"trauma lab". It flickered a bit as it looked very menacing and dark.
Velvet shivered slightly"we have to go all the way over their. It looks..kinda creepy"she said
"You have no idea seriously some of the stuff they did…it…it..its terrible"zane said visbale shaking which caught vance attention. He gently placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry we'll get out of their quick. Though uh what happens if we touch one of the blacked out ones"vance said
"Eh probably nothing most of those ones are ones he lost. They only react to certain people"celeste said
Vance got curious seeing one with something seemed to resemble a little kid. But what peeked his interest was their was a figure with a scorpion tale coiled around the kid in glee it seems. Insitlcy he touched it as it bathed all of them in a bright light.
Back in the real world mostly everyone was just sitting their waiting for them. The four on the cots soundly sleep while in the middle celeste was mediating. As a orb the color of the night sky sat their floating in the air.
Coco spun around in her chair bored"so this is boring they;ve been in their for like thirty minutes and nothing happened"she said
"Your not wrong seriously this is kinda boring. "Naca replied since she decided to join them alongside miyuki. The two were hanging out with eden as they were told what they were doing. Sandra was their since she was also a medic in the tent.
Miyuki tapped her knees for a moment"well it is them just exploring his head. Though why is their a random orb?"she asked pointing to the orb.
Nezumi drank a small cup of coffee to keep herself awake"oh that pretty much when they interact with certain memeroie. It'll play for us in the real world"she replied
"So what we'll be able to learn if that things hiding any secret about its grimm allies?"picto asked wondering if they could get any more intel on them.
"For your information captain he isn't with them. I've discuss with your yesterday that he didn't ask for this. He was under mental suggestion"merlot argued again but the captain didn't care at all since he needed to follow his orders.
"Oh really? Because that thing over their started the biggest trardegy in all of remnant. I don't care if he was under mental suggestion i have my orders"picto said as soon enough from the tent flaps a soldier rushed into the tent. They walked over to the captain whispering something as he rubbed his eyes.
"Are you serious? Dammit"picto said which got their attention.
"What happened? Let me guess we got a problem"nezumi asked as he nodded slightly.
"Seems one of our patrols haven't return yet. I gotta go round some men up to go check their last location"picto replied as him and his soldiers left the tent. But a couple stayed outside to guard the room just incase.
Cardin sighed in relief"finally that guys gone i was ready to clock him in the jaw. Hes getting on my nerves right now"he said in annoyance.
"Me and you both seriously i understand him and some of his men volunteered to stay. But their on my nerves"sandra replied
Though soon enough for some reason the orb shined bright in a yellow hue. This caught all their attention immeialty as from the top of the orb it projected something. All of them just stared at it as they wondered what they were going to see.
"Hmm seems they might have found it already which means our problem may be solved"glynda said impressed how quickly they found it.
But as they stared at the image on screen xander noticed something because it didn't look like the memroie they were searching for.
"Umm scratch that seems they might have found something else"xander corrected catching them offguard as they stared at the memorie being played infront of them. This just made them wondered what exactly they were going to see.
Back inside the mindscape they all opened their eyes slowly adjusting their vision. As zane adjusted his vision he found himself that was very familiar. It looked like an old boxing but it was actually his mom old place but it didn't look ruined or burned down.
"Okay ow my eyes are going to be sore for weeks now. Seriously thats bright"nebula said rubbing her eeys adjusting her vision slowly.
Velvet did the same until blinking looking around"that hurt but where are we because it looks like some old boxing gym"velvet pointed out
Though a certain lynx just went slack jawed at where they were as he rubbed his eyes a few good times.
"This…this is auntie old gym. I think this was before the fire happened. Because all the stuff isn't brand new yet"vance said gesturing to the very old boxing equipment and boxing ring. It felt almost nostalgic to zane as he particularly lived here it seems.
"Its nice to see this though uh why do you look mad?"zane pointed over at a very annoyed celeste right now.
"Oh i'm mad because i told you we can't touch anything. If we do we can't leave until the memories over."celeste said annoyed as they did find that annoying. But soon enough bane cleared his throat getting their attention. All turned to him as he gestured over somewhere they all looked at a nearby couch.
Immediately zane noticed the younger him sitting upside kicking his legs tossing a ball in the air several times. He kept doing this repeating the same process. Nebula scratched her head around this.
"So what were going to see him tossing a ball in the air?"nebula questioned though velvet noticed something strange. That being that the little kid was all by himself in the gym.
"Maybe but why are you by yourself? Shouldn't their be someone watching you"velvet said as vance eyes sank into his skull. He looked around to see any trace of their family here until it clued him in. this was the day the gym was set on fire.
"I..i…this was the day auntie left you home alone. This was the day we thought you died"vance said in shock as they were shocked by that. But zane tried to recall what happened that day all he could remember his one thing, a scorpions tail.
As they watched the memories the younger zane just kept humming until eventually he sat up. Then he began to walk around the place messing with the equipment. Though soon enough a very thick smoke started to emerged which frighten the kid.
Immediately they saw how he rushed toward the fire escape doors to get to safety. But as he did the backdoors bursted open as he cackling of a madman could be heard. Then from the door instep a local serial killer tyrian callows.
Tyrian had the look of a crazy man"well hello their little one…i've come to rescue you from the fire. Come along now"tyrian said offering him a hand.
But the little kid just backed up in fear"g-go away…you look scary. Mommy said not to trust stranger"he replied which brought an unimpressed look to tyrian. Then he began to cackle quietly like a madman as he then swiped trying to grab him, but he jumped back.
"Come now i don't bite. My name is tyrian callows…come along now i'll wisk you away somewhere special"tyrian said as he lunged toward the little kid but he kept running away from him. But nebula noticed how the flames around the building started to spread even more.
"This is kinda messed up. Guess this is when you got kidnapped or whatever"nebula said
"Tyrian callows. Thats the most wanted criminal in all of remant. Hes a murdeerer. Slaughtered of entire villages in a single night. And known for several kidnapping case"celeste said
"Guess he was the one who took you that night"vance sadly said as they watched the memorie play out. It showed him dodging and weaving doing the best he could to avoid his clutches. But the man kept laughing with insanity like he was enjoying himself with the chase.
"Come now little one i won't hurt you but if you keep resisting well….the fun begins"tyrian said licking his lips. Then he lunged for him again but he dodged it tripping.
"No get away please stay away"the kid begged with tears starting to form. He kept running away from him several times until someone called out into the inferno.
"Zane baby, where are you?!"a women voice called out as some looked close to the front door to see nadia standing their as her face was obscured by thick smoke. The little kid looked ready to call out but this gave tyrian the chance.
Quickly he lunged at the child as he covered his mouth wrapping his tail around his shoulder. He had a sadistic look in his eyes as the little kid struggled in his grasp. But he just gently shushed the child as he reached into a pouch pulling out a syringe.
"Shhhh don't let mommy know just go to sleep alright"tyrian said as he jabbed the needle into the kids neck making him go wide eyed with a muffled cry. But soon enough the kid slowly closed his eyes as soon his entire bodie went limb. Then he slung him over his shoulder. Then from the exit back door a couple voice could be heard speaking up.
"Callows, you got the target?"a female voice said as her face was obscured by thick smoke. But she wore some causal clothing though for some reason one of them stuck out. Because their stood a man in his mid twenties it seems as he had tan skin along with black hair. But his face was obseucred by a deer skull mask as he wore an open furcoat that was olive colored opened to expose his toned bodie. Along with wearing some torn looking jeans with hiking boots colored brown. But on his shoulders was a body of a little kid in a patients gown.
The man grunted throiwng the bodie down"their…that should do for the body. I wonder where you get these things?"he questioned but nebula ears perked up because his voice sounded familiar to her.
Tyrian laughed as he grinned at them"don't worry about it….the children hospital provided…some volunteers"he replied but the women just laughed at that.
"Try our little dead subject here. Now hurry up and load him in gotta hurry before the fire department comes"the women spoke as they went to the fire door exit as the building slowly crumbled around them. But soon someone could be heard screaming.
"Dammit zoey let me go, i need to save him!"nadia screamed from the front.
"Mom watch out!"zoey yelled as they watched the building crumbling around them. Then a blood curdling cry could be heard as just like that they were back in the hall of memories. They all just stood their for a bit taking in what they just saw.
"I..so all those missing people over the years…he helped take them. He..took you"velvet said shocked right now.
"Seems so guess they had procedure on who they kidnapped. My guess is they faked arson to fake your death"celeste said glancing at zane who had some tears rubbing them away. His head hurt slihglty but he shook it off.
"Hmm well at least I know who took me. Some screwed up serial killer not surprised"zane said
Vance smacked his fist together"yeah though heard from some people back in vacou he killed alot of people during the fall. Including a guy those twins on your team knew"vance mentioned meaning tanner as he nodded. Guess next time he see him he'll personally clobber him next time.
But with nebula she thought why he seemed so familiar. Until it came to her the voice sounded familiar because she heard it before. Along with that mask seeming similar to someone she met during the fall.
"Wait..that other guy. Why did he look like that beowulf knight during the fall."nebula stated which got them to think about that for a moment. For zane a flash happened in his head but it happened around them as it showed the same man standing their. Then in an instant his appearance shifted to resemble the beowulf knight as he roared lunging toward them startling them but once it got close nothing happen.
"What the heck was that?!"vance shouted shocked.
"Hmm just a small little flash. Not surprised alpha was one of the first grimm knights actually"bane said to their shock he was the first one made.
"Wait so your saying that guy is probably the oldest one around"nebula asked scared as he nodded.
Celeste rubbed her eyes"look that wasn't what were looking for but we got some intel. Lets keep moving"she ordered as they got back in formation continuing onward further into the mindscape.
But back in the real word the orb light died down as they took in what they just saw. Because it was just a sad sight seeing that happen in the first place.
"Whoa…i just mean…that kid sleeping over their got kidnapped by a serial killer"sandra said upset seeing that.
Glynda closed her eyes"yes from what reports state during the fall. That scorpion faunus was sighted slaughter people left and right without concern of safety. Were still trying to sort out who died."glynda said
Miyuki though just clenched her fist in rage as her maiden powers activated on instinct. Outside of the tent above a strom cloud formed as it began to snow onto the base to all their confusion. Miyuki eyes opened with blue flames around them.
"That the bastard who attacked our carriage!"miyuki shouted in rage as cardin glanced outside to see a small blizzard to blow through. Everyone outside was very confused as glynda looked over at the girl walking over placing her hands on her shoulder.
"Dear you need to calm down. Your powers react to your emotion if let them run rampant it'll have consequence"glynda warned as the girl realzied her mistake before taking a deep breath. Then she deactivated her maiden powers.
"Okay you need to learn when to relax. If not they'll find out who you are"naca warned
"I..i know sorry…its just that man was the one who attacked us. He..he was the one who helped kill eden and pipers parents"miyuki saldy said
Coco rubbed her eyes for a moment"sounds terrible. But heard from the grapevine he was the one who did some people in during the fall. "Coco said
"You mean how he killed tanner which in turn made grimm boy partner go on a revenge quest"cardin said to their surprise.
"Wait…that blonde chick. She actuaully went out to kill people, why would she do that?"xander questioned. Both cardin and coco got quiet for a moment as coco looked down with an upset look. While cardin just kept a narrowed gaze as he kept his emotions in check.
"Lets just say she did it because we lost alot of good friends that day. From how i saw it at beacon those two twins were close to pyrrha. With her dying along with their friend along with their leader. Probably the reason she ran away."Cardin begun as he clenched his fist then opened it looking at his palm.
"But all of us got close back in beacon, it still hurts we lost so many people. I just hope firestarter doens't kill someone"cardin finished though merlot just tapped his chin recalling that day. Which didn't go unnotice by nezumi.
"You got something old man?"nezumi asked
Merlot nodded as he walked over toward his satchel digging through it until he pulled something out. He pulled out thick mealnilay files that had greek symbols on it ranging from sigma, tau, theta, alpha, zeta, gamma and lastly omega. Then he placed them on a nearby table.
"Percisly because for starters the files in my hand are dossier on seven of the knights of grimm."merlot stated which got their attention.
"Wait so you got files on half the knights of grimm. Does that mean you know what grimm knights were created. Specifically which type of grimm?"nezumi aksed excited it seems because they might have a winning edge in this fight against them.
Cardin leaned back in his chair with a confident look"if he does then we got a winning hand against these guys"he joked but they stared at him because he wasn't the best at puns.
"Anyway, so your telling us you files on half of them?"naca questioned eyeing the one labeled alpha. Because she knew a certain cat faunus whos got a bone to pick with him.
Merlot nodded as he thought about the grimm they used for the knights of grimm"if my memoerie serves me right. The grimm we mainly implemented in the subjects was nevermore, beowulf, teryx, centinel, wyvern, manitcore, goliath, king tajtu, geist, deathstalker, lancer and finally sabyr"he answered but nezumi thought about the kid laying in the cot fast asleep.
"What about the kid what grimm is he based off of?"nezumi aksed as he gave a strange answer.
"In my opinion i don't know. Arthur took special interest in him back in the lab. Told me his semblance intrigue him."merlot replied which made glynda ponder that for a moment before closing her eyes.
"Very well we shall wait for them to continue searching for the memorie. Later i want to review these files with you along with miss hollaway"glynda ordered as he nodded placing them back in the satchel before he told them something else.
"Although the two in that memories are familiar. The man in question was actually conri before he went under the surgery. While the women was someone who went by sangie abuli"merlot said though someone slammed their hand on a table as they looked toward now anger miyuki who growled hearing that name.
"Whoa okay chill out before you cause an iceage"naca warned placing her hands on her to calm her down. Miyuki took a few deep breaths to calm herself down before exhaling slowly then looked at them with an upset look.
"Let me guess you know that women personally?"cardin asked as she nodded.
"She…she was the warden of our facility pretty much. Along with being pipers handler…that women is pure evil. She has no compassion whats so ever inside her"miyuki saldy replied as merlot soften his gaze as he took a seat next to the girl. Then he took her hands to her confusion as he sighed heavily.
"I recall that women being a heartless monster. Back in the day she was the boys handler as well along with alphas"merlot begun as they listened to him as the mechanical eye stared at the winter maiden.
"But i recall the days at that facility in the anima you along with those two sisters where housed at"he cotninued which made them look at him shocked.
"Wait…you were at the facility they were kept at?"xander asked shocked and surprised to hear this.
"Which mean you still helped with these experiments still for an entire decade"sandra added as her tail thrashed a little. Because she stared daggers at the scientist who soften his gaze as he sighed smiling.
"Though i saw your little escape attempt plan in action. It was smart to stage a riot against the guards when sangie left the facility to meet with their leader. That man who made that handmade hacker was meger at best. Though someone saw your little escape attempt and worked his magic to make it possible."merlot finished which brought a few tears to her eyes. He helped them escape from the facility they were housed at. Alot of people died for it to be possible but he helped save a little girl before she turned into a monster.
Without a word miyuki hugged the older man who felt content receiving the embrace as they held it for a bit before releasing.
"Thank you…you don't know how much this means to me. I thought we would have died if it failed"miyuki replied as they sat in silence for a little bit until eventually they decided to continue watching the orb for any new memories.
But outside in the camp walking around the now snow covered ground as their footsteps crunched in the cold was akasha. The falcon faunus was shivering right now because the weather didn't saw anything about their being snow today.
"Brrr its freezing out seriously if it was going to snow. I would have worn more layers"akasha stated as a cold wind blew through making her try to warm herself up.
Jae was particularly standing stil as she slowly shuffled her way over"t-t-try being c-c-cold blooded. Its a-a-alot worse for me"she replied shivering.
"I know what you mean seriously whats with the sudden drop in temperature"tia replied
Dew tapped her chin for a moment thinking how to respond"well for starters maybe it was a certain girl that caused this little storm to happen"she suggested as akasha was clued in what she meant. As the other two were a little confused by that.
"Uhh what are you talking about? What don't tell me someone semblance did this?"tia said gesturing to the snow on the ground. It stopped monetarily but it just made enough for their shoes or boots to sink halfway through.
"Well that pearson chick did create that ice wall. Maybe she can create strom clouds or whatever"jae suggested as she kept trying to keep herself warm. They all noticed this deciding to retreat to a certain part of the base that being the close by campfire as everyone was gathered around it mainly. But as they walked over some pleated tia in the face.
The women felt something very cold on her face that being snow. The women growled in anger for who ever threw that at her.
"Who threw that?!"tia demanded in anger immediately soften her gaze.
Because the one who did it was a little girl with fair skin along with light yellow eyes. Her hair was colored ivory that reached her shoulder as she wore some simple blue jeans with a tan wool sweater. Along with some plain black shoes.
"D-d-dang it girl…it was just a little kid. C-c-chill out"jae said chattering her teeth right now as her tail drooped to the ground limp.
"She right it just some snow, it won't hurt anyone"dew added
But the little girl had a scared look as some tears formed in her eyes which just upsetted tia. Since when she gets anger she can sound very intimidating at times. She took action immediately as some people stared at her.
"Its okay ivo your not in any trouble. It just caught me offguard"tia reassured the little girl known as ivo. She was from the safehouse if she recalls alongside her mother. Who should be with her right now if she recalls.
Ivo rubbed the tears away"a-are you sure…i didn't mean to do it. I just wanted to have some fun"she sweetly said as the women patted her head.
"Thats fine sweetie though…."tia begun as she sneakily grabbed some snow balling it up real quick. Then before she knew it ivo had some snow in her hair.
"Revenge"tia said with a grin as she began to back pettle away from her. The little girl giggled before chasing her around throwing snowballs at her. Akasha kept trying to warm herself up but decided to join in as the three began to pelt each other with snowballs. Dew stood their for a moment before shrugging her shoulder joining in on the fun. The four just kept doing it to some of the people around them amusement.
Jae stared them down before huffing"i'm finding somewhere warm…b-before i freeze to death"jae said walking off to do just that as the four had their little snowball fight laughing and having some fun.
Tia kept dodging some snowballs from the three to the best of her ability. But akasha quickly rolled throiwng one nailing her in the head to her annoyance. She retaliate by grabbing two in hand tossing two as the faunus dodged one but the other nailed her in the face. The snow fell off her face as tia laughed at her.
"Don't be disappointed kid you aint the only one here to hit their target"tia said smugly.
But as she did soon a snowball hit her in the back of her head. Which made no sense since the three with her were in front of her. Which begged the question where did it come from. Over close by looking at the four as they continued their little snowball fight was may and leon fist bumped each other.
Back inside the minscape they were walking through as they saw a few memories played out. Celeste told them the mirrors can play memories while if you touch the statues they play a memroie out. They saw a couple that were interesting that was the foodfight back at beacon. The formation of team ZERO, the vytal dance and many more from beacon.
"I remember that day when that foodfight happened. It was so much fun spending it with you two"velvet said sighing recalling that day smiling.
"Yeah and uh this all started because someone messed with some chick hair?"nebula asked
Zane snapped his fingers"bingo thats one of her three rules. Touch the hair and you get yanged"zane quipped as they groaned at the very bad pun. While bane chuckled at the pun which didn't surrpsie them.
"Exemplier, i wouldn't have said it better myself"bane replied
"Of course you'd like this puns. Seriously you even make some its so weird to talk to a grimm"vance replied because he found this very strange.
"True though surprised we encounter a few nightmares early. But they weren't much"celeste said as they ran into some early but quickly dispatched them with ease. Though as she said this one lone little blob appeared in front of them. They all just looked at each as they shrugged their shoulder.
"One little blob this will be easy"nebula said in confidence.
"Yeah what its gonna turn into this time. A beowulf…uras…something weird"vance said
Zane had his back turned with one dual sword on his shoulder"whatever it is lets just get rid of it an–"before he spoke the nightmare soon spoke in a familiar voice called out which he dread
"So the bastard who broke my heart and threw it away like it was nothing return"a female voice spoke up as he turned going wide eyed seeing the fake onxyia their again. He thought he dealt with her already, this caught velvet off guard
"Uhh so wait were going to be dealing with one of your girlfirend. This isn't weird"nebula said but the fake just laughed at that.
"Why would i ever associate myself with a monster. A grimm that deserves to be put down like the freak it is"the fake onxyia spat in a dark an menacing voice. He visible backed up with an upset look hearing those from her.
Velvet looked shocked"wolfie…wolfie wouldn't say that…she would never alright"she reassured but he looked down
Vance rolled his eyes"alright little nightmare or whatever you are. If your my cousin fear of being rejected or whatever. Go away"vance said shooing her away. But the nightmare growled as she dragged her glaive across the ground with an eerie grin.
"Really? Why shouldn't i reject a monster. Because i finally call you after you send a sucide video"the fake said
"Then i hear your last words telling me you're sorry. For what…messing with me being a mistake. I'll never love some monster that caused the biggest tragedy in the world"she added bringing her glaive up as they expected for her to instead it brought the glaive up in the air as to their shock she stabbed herself in the stomach. Then dragged the blade across it keeping the eerie grin.
"I'm probably dead by now…and its all your fault you monster"the fake spat before it turned into black smoke. They just stood their very confused as zane just sighed walking away from them holding his head. Vance looked at his cousin with worry as he could see tears in his looked worried as well
"Hey cousin look you–"but the lynx was stopped by someone unexpected.
"Hold up let me go talk to the guy. We'll catch up"nebula said which confused them
"Why do you wanna talk to him? Because he my boyfriend"velvet questions as her ears tiwtched but celeste tapped her foot in annoyance repeatedly.
"Look he can worry about his girl troubles later. We gotta find that memeorie come on"celeste reminded but bane put a hand up.
"Let the two talk real quick my host…has been very troubled everysince he woke up from that coma. They'll catch up"bane said as they relented walking ahead as nebula walked to where zane was. Mainly infront of a statue that bathed in a bright light of the him,velvet and onxyia together. To him his heart aches hoping to see that smile of hers again.
"Guess i messed up royally with your wolfie. You'll probably hate me now…i'm such an idiot. Bun forgiven you probaly won;t"zane said sadly
"Hey don't worry you could patch things up with your girl"nebula reassured which surprised him slightly she was here.
"You come over to mess with me?"zane asked as she shook her head then motioned to follow her. He hesitated but did as they walked after the others but didn't realzied they passed a sigh reading"cherished memories".
"I'm not here to do that more like give you some advice. I've been where you were before sort of"nebula replied which peeked his interest. Pretty sure she didn't send a sucide video to her girlfriend.
"Oh and how is that? I…i messed up the best thing that every happened to me"he replied with an upset look.
Nebula sighed tapping his shoulder"look not ever couple is perfect. Me and gwen get in fights sometimes but eventually we come up with some grand apology. I hate her antics sometimes but…i fell for the girl for who she is"she said as the two looked at each other as she smiled.
"Pretty sure you two had that spark, just keep that hope. Don't worry your bringing her brother back and you two other girlfriend …maybe he knows what might make up for making her think you died"nebula clued him in as he nodded at that. Because he still hoped he can reconnect with her.
"Maybe your right…thanks for uh that little pep talk. But what are they doing?"zane quesionted as they looked at the other surrounding three statues. All feminine in appearance but one had a pair of tiger ears on it. While one had a book in hand while the third was drenehced in tar.
"Hey their you guys are though we lost you"vance replied as they joined them.
"Nope just got a pep talk in uh love or whatever"zane said embarrassed
"Okay well your clone pointed these out to us. And uh he told us the guys got a mom"celeste said which caught the two offgaurd slightly. But zane knew who he was talking about salem.
"Ummm grimm don't have moms their born from pure darkness or whatever"nebula argued.
"She right thugh the other two seem to be your adoptive mother and your real mom"velvet aded which peeked his interest immediately. He never seen what she looks like actually he bareilly recalls her face.
Bane nodded"yes i'll explain later more about the tar drenched statute. But…"bane begun before glancing at zane eyeing the statue with the book. Without warning he tocuehd the statue which transproted into the memorie. Celeste just glared at the copy with annoyance.

"Actually..uh he kind right…i..i don't even remember what she look like. Sorry"he apologies as the women stared at him for a moment before sighing.
"Alright fine your lucky i'm a mom too. Fine we can watch this then we keep moving"celeste reminded as they looked at their current surrounding. It was a simple log cabin very well made from the looks of it. Their was a simple rug in the room with a fireplace close by to cozy up to. Along with a small kitchen area and some beds in the room. But vance noticed one thing.
"Hey uh Z look over by the fireplace"vance said as they all looked toward it, because their sat a particular women.
The women in question seemed to be her early twenties with pale skin and dark blue eye. She also had navy blue hair that was wavy and reached to her back. But she had a slender frame to her with a moderate bust. Her attire consisted of black dress skirt thst reached past her knees with black stocking on. She also wore a dark blue blouse long sleeve with frills at the end of the cuffs. But on the center of it was a brooch of a skull on it.
Zane just felt something familiar about her, like the warm feeling of a mother. Because in her arms was a two year old tot in a blue onesie as she held him close. Singing a sweet lullaby to him.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine"
"You make me happy, when the skies are gray'
"You'll never know dear, how much i love you"
"Please don't take my sunshine away"
The tune was sweet as it surprised them slightly but not as much as he was. Because it made him smile hearing that tune because he recalls hearing something like this a long time ago. He didn't realzie tears began to slowly escape his eyes.
"The other night dear, as i lay sleeping"
"I dreamed i held you in my arms
"When i awoke dear i was mistaken
"So i hung my head and i cired"
She kept singing for a bit until someone interrupted her little tune close by.
"Are you gonna keep singing to him, your putting me to sleep over here"a male voice said as they glanced at a wooden staircase. Their stood a man close to her age with fair skin. His eyes were black like darkness along his hair being the same cut short. Though he had a scruffy beard while wearing maroon pants with a black sweater.
The women rolled her eyes"Well i'm sorry azaril but for starters our son likes the little lullaby i sing. Don't you"she cooed tickling the tot who laughed. Zane just went wide eyed seeing his actually dad standing he kinda looked like him but older.
"Whoa guess you get to see your dad too. Nice"vance said smiling happy for his cousin to see his actually parents.
"Yeah though that was very sweet song she sang"vlevet complimented happy that her boyfriends get to see his actually parents as they watched the man known as azaril sit down with the women leaning against him as the tot reached for his beard pulling it as he yelped slightly.
"Gah! You little rascal seriously its like he loves to mess with people"azaril said as the women laughed at that.
"Well he takes after his mother for one thing, his sense of humor. Along with my family little gift"the women cooed
"Wait…how she phrased it..your semblance wouldn't be inherited. Right?"vance questioned as he shook his head watching the memorie play out. This caused azaril to sigh heavily holding her close in a loving embrace.
"Hel sweetie i know he takes after that. But if you go on about your sister hiding out in vacou and your other siblingsi–"Azaril was stopped as the women known as hel graves stood up with the tot still in hand
"Of course i'm mad at her. I appreciate you taking my family last name. But lilith think going into hiding because of our ancestors semblance. While Mars sort of agree with me then their laz who with my sister. Pana…she probably doing something strange right now"Hel said as she held the tot close with a small smile.
"My ancestors worked hard for our legacy…and i can't wait to see his semblance when he grows up. Then we'll add his to our family book"hel said holding the tot close as azaril sighed as he walked over placing another log in the fire to heat the home up.
"I know dear, though we could visit her some if you want maybe invite your other siblings"azaril suggest before she could respond the tot in her arms began to get fussy.
"That sounds great dear but you stop being fussy…do you wanna do the swing again"hel sweetly said before to their shock she activated her semblance. In an instant organic material crawled up her skin as it covered her body as it was thin in appearance. It slowly crawled up her body as it was dark blue in color with white in the joints of the armor. But instead of a faceless mask like his a hood went over her head as three coattails emerged from her waist curling slightly.
Then she used the coattails as they moved wrapping them around the wooden beams of the cabin. She began to gently rock in the air singing the lullaby again as the tot slowly fell asleep in her arms. Hel smiled holding the tot close like a mother as they expected the memoir to end. But it wasn't as they were soon transported the to a sandy dune from the looks of looked around confused by this.
"Umm okay kids semblance is inherited it seems. That was a major bombshell we got today"celeste said amazed actually.
"And you..actually have an aunt and uncle in vacuo"velvet replied surprised
"I know right your semblance is inherited. Who would've though"vance said smiling but nebula looked around where they were. It looked like the vacou desert since its her native homeland. But it was strange how the memories didn't end.
"Thats interesting and all but why didn't the memories end. It still going"nebula stated which confused them as zane was busy wiping some present tears aways. They were all confused right now but as velvet looked around they seemed to be in cage. Along with that she noticed something the large amounts of slavers nearby.
"Didn't you say that found you, him and at a slaver camp?"velvet asked scared as vance just had a somber look form not answering because he just saw something sad that being hel in the corner of the cell. The women had a collar on her throat tight with a large bruise on her cheek with her dress tattered and ruined. Trying to sing that lullaby again but failed choking on the lyrics.
Celeste noticed her too sighing"not surprised this is in vacou. Dam slavers are more common here than any other kingdom."she said in disgust. They decided to watch the sad memeorie play out before them.
"I'm so sorry…we shouldn't have taken that short cut. I just wanted to vist my sister and siblings. I'm so sorry"hel cried caressing her son face as he cried for someone who wasn't their.
"Da"the tot called out
Hel held him close crying"daddy gone sweetie..he…he got sick and taking a nap"hel cried with tears staining her face which meant azaril died from being overworked it seems. They kept watching as soon enough loud explosions would be heard which made her go wide eyed. Bandits scrambled around to deal with some attackers which brought a smile to her face.
"Oh thank rement were going to be okay sweetie"hel cried in joy but was dismissed quickly as the slaver leader walked over opening her cell. Then he began to try and drag her of it.
"Move it! We gotta save some of our product. Now get the hell up before i blow your brains out"the slaver demanded but she pulled away holding her son close.
"Stay away! I'm not just some merchandise you bastrard!"she cired as the man glared as in the distant gunfire and grimm howls could be heard.
The slaver leader gorlwed"move it you bitch or i'll kill you and your dam brat"he threatened making her glare at him.
"I'm not letting you take my son away from me you monsters!"hel cried as something heartbreaking happened. Another slaver tore the tot out from her arms crying for his mother. Hel tried to reach for him but the slaver leader pistol whipped her in the back of the head.
The slaver cocked his pistol back aiming at her head"then you can join your husband, were taking your kid."he said before she could react a gunshot went off. It was silence as crys could be heard from to the tot as hel layed dead on the ground. zane just choked a sob back. Then immediately in an instance they were kicked out of the memeorie finding themselves in a dark void.
"Oh..that..that was just terrible…that poor women. Are you okay"velvet sadly said
"Thats just messed up…you good over their?"nebula asked as zane had tears staining his cheeks. Before he could answer the floor sunk beneath them as they tried to escape clawing to stay above. But soon fell throug the murky liquid returning to the real world but the figure from early watched upset.
"Awww i wanted to say hello to my prey…no matter"The figure said as bane still remained glaring at the figure obesureced by shadows.
Back in the real world they all woke up sitting up straight immedailty. All of them covered in thick swet as celeste gasped slightly. While they all gathered themselves the others just stood their in shock at what they just saw.
Coco shades slide off her face slightly"alright so uh…that was just a major bombshell we all saw."she said
"You mean how we just hear that guys semblance is inherited. Then see his mom die!"naca shouted in shock right now. This brought cardin attention looking over at the crying zane who had tears staining his cheeks.
"Hey you good over here?"cardin asked worried as he simply looked at them.
"My…my semblance in inherited."zane simply said in shock. He never expected to find out more about his semblance of even his real family today. Things got a while lot more interesting but it made glynda wonder what ozpin was planning with him.
In this chaptwe we saw some interesting thing that being that zane semblance was inherited! though he fianlly got to see his parent faces but had to watch his own mother be shot in the head. Along with that it seems merlot has some intel on those knights of for reading!
