Chapter 11:coming up with a plan
Maya was busy returning back to the base of operations they set up in the town of deepwald. The guards greeted her with a salute as she returned it. Also their was the workforce they had ehre hard at work getting dust for them. But where she was heading was a large command center built near the entrance to the mineshaft.
Once their the person waiting for her was a doctor in a lab coat also known as wisteria.
"Hello doc, how are things here today?"maya asked as the women turned to her.
"Ah maya your back i take it you got what i needed from town?"wisteria asked as the soldier presneted the box of medical suppiles with them.
"Yep they did was pretty easy but that girl twin sister was their. Brat annoyed me though i didn't kill her we could use her just like that sister of hers. "Maya replied as the soldier walked off placing the box down. Then she just hoped up on a table kicking her legs in glee.
Wisteria scoffed hearing about that"that girl is starting to get on my nerves, she lucky i want her alive. I hope to do what i did to her sister. Speaking of her should be modeling her right now to join us"wistera said as the two began to walk into the mine.
They walked through it for a bit as they passed by faunus and human townspeople hard at work mining for the mineral and dust needed. This mine was a rare find since it has several rare types of dust. But they walked for maybe ten minutes until coming to a metal door built into the mine.
Wisteria pulled a keycard out until it opened a lsiidng they stepped through it was a large lab like area with scientist hard at work. They were doing typically things as conducting expeirments, taking notes and creating new hybrids. Though they passed them walking down a hallway for a bit.
"So doc old buddy where are my other new sibling?"maya questioned
"If your talking about the five new knights, three of them are relaxing right now. While rho is with selket right now"she answered
"That great because i got news for sister sigma about her honey"maya replied peeking her interest but they soon reached selket room. Opening the door it revealed a large room with a bed that had a hold colored comforter on it. Along with a dresser with a picture frame on it, their was also a large shelf containing several things in jars it seems. But their was also a couple cages in the room.
But sitting on the bed humming was selket who finishing texting someone.
"Ah the good doctor and little sister what brings you here? Here to give me more playthings"selket asked creepily as her stinger swayed.
"Here to bring the doctor her groceries sister and yours"maya said placing the box down as selket sealed slightly digging through it grabbing random medicine bottles.
"Excellent to hear. The things i can make with these but anything else? Because you seem to be hiding something from me"selket said as she walked forward as she snapped her pincers for a bit.
"Oh yea because we got some visitors in town it seems"maya replied
"I'm guess if your mentioning this they an important target out queen is after"wisteria asked
Maya hummed at that smiling"oh precisely because you known of our traditrious brother known as omega. Whos dead or whatever"she asked
Selket hummed slightly rolling her eyes"why wouldn't i? Everysince arthurs son used him to destroyed that bastard blasted school and instow sweet fear in remnant. Brother alpha and zeta are looking for his corpse if i recall."she said
Then she looked filled with rage in her eyes"along with being partner with that brat who took my husband stinger"she growled as her tail thrashed about in pure rage.
Maya had good news on that"Well that brat is here i think with blonde hairs. Which means the silver eyed girl isn't far behind along with mercury black"maya stated which made selket freeze for a moment. Then she began to giggle for a bit until going into full blown laughter in joy right now. After a bit it settled as she smirked
"That wonderful to hear! Though i don't wanna risk angering that child my honey said she almost used her other eyes. Our siblings are important…but i'l discuss this with our queen tomorrow. Hopefully she'll let me kill the girl"selket replied with hope as they left her room. Maya grinned waving to someone in a cage.
"Bye bye future little sister your other half says hello"maya mockinyl said to the prisoner in that cage. The girl in question was a perfect copy of pollax but instead she had ghost white skin with light brown hair that reached her back. She wore a paitnet pant and shirt, though on her arms she had red leahtery wings on her arms. Though she had a bone mask on her face that resemblaed a bat as two large fangs were on it. But inside her mouth she had similair one that were hidden.
Selket left her room in anticptation to avenge her husband who lost his stinger to that girl. She hopes her queen will allow it.
Meanwhile with rogue and the others they were just coming back to poppy house as they were met by ruby in the living room along with merucyr. The two were laughing like crazy to the others surprise.
"Why are you two laughing so much?"rogue questioned walking in with a bag full of parts for merucry weapons. They made a quick stop at a weapon store for it.
"Yeah what you find some funny pictures of jaune or something?"nora asked though the knight look at what was in their hands a photo album.
"No don't look at that!"jaune screeched diving for the book but ruby turned into a bunch of red rose petal ddoging it as she emerged infront of the others laughing.
"Look at this its hilarious!"ruby sqeeeled showing them the photo in the album. It showed a younger jaune with all his other sister in the photo but his hair was put into pigtails. He had a sign saying"help me". The other paused for a moment before laughing at it to jaune unamuzment.
"Oh my god you weren't kidding about them doing pigtails"rogue said
Ren simply laughed"indeed its very strange seeing him like that"he replied
Nora was just laughing so loud you could hear it from the broken moon.
Qrow chuckled slightly"that look suits you kid, maybe you should rock it again sometime"qrow suggested but jaune frowned at that.
"I'm not doing pigtails again!"jaune shouted affirming his stance on that hairstyle never returing again. Poppy laughed as she rubbed the top of his head.
"We won't but how did your trip into town go?"poppy asked worried it seemes.
The other soon sat down as they explianed what they found so far. How qrow and jaune trip to the bar wasn't that great since the bartender didn't tell them anything with those grunts around. But saw asher their to poppy disgust it seems, while for rogue group they told them their encounter at the drugstore and their purchases.
"You three ran into casta twin sister that nice along with the thanatos. Those two are very lovely"poppy replied as she broguth a tray of drink for them.
"Heh yeah those two do sound lovly"jaune replied as he was deep in thought it seems, they didn't wanna tell his sister who was responsible for the fall a family member of thiers maybe.
"They are but we ran into some enforcer of their outfit it seems. She took a bunch of prescriptions from them"ren replied
"Why did they do that?"nora asked as rogue knew immediately what they were doing creating more grimm knights.
"I think they uh might be making more grimm knights here"rogue stated with worrie as the others went wide eyed at that. Because their could be more of them here.
"But that would mean they might be performing expeiremnts on those poor people their"ruby said wich caught poppy attention becuase they explained in breif this morning how rogue ran into their mercenary group.
"Wait what do you mean by experiments?"poppy questioned as the group got quiet for a bit before jaune broke it closing his eyes.
"Our friend came from one of those labs they had, several people have been kidnapped over
remnant it seems. Their trying to make more of them…we need to stop them"jaune declared stocily as the other were in agreement.
"No doubt about that kid but we don't know what were dealing with. Asher though surprised to see him hanging out with those mercs."qrow said
"Why is that?"mercury asked
"Because for one asher does do some shady stuff but only to those who are criminals. I know for a fact he hates slavers, they got something or someone he cares about"qrow replied
"What about that percy guy?"nora asked
"They don't know where he is, or their hiding him"jaune replied
"That would make sense but what about those contact lens and parts for merucry weapons and legs"ruby asked as rogue walked over handing the silver eyed girl the contact len hesiantly opeend them surprised to see them and immedialty tried to put them on. But was stopped by qrow.
"Uhh kiddio hold on for a second i'll help you with those"qrow offered as the girl understood because they are hard to put on.
"Ok uncle qrow, i've never used these before so it might be uh difficult"ruby replied as qrow looked away from her as she said that which caught poppy attention again. This made her curious why he keep turnign away from her when he says that.
"Besides that i'll probably get started on these tommorrow morning. With rubes help we can get it done before the afternoon"rogue said
"Ok for now you should all get some rest for the morning? I'm heading into town tommorrow for some shopping. Maybe hopefully run into percy tomorrow, go rest for tomorrow"poppy said as they all headed off to their own seperate rooms for the night. Ruby wanted to try the contact lengs tonight but waited for tommorrow morning. Ruby and rogue took the bed and laid on the covers using a pillow to separate them.
Hours into the night passed it seems as a man was walking through the woods making sure he wasn't follow. After a bit of walking he arrvied an open field as he knew of a hidden entrance that he only knew about as he pressed firmly in the grass as he heard something click. A rather loud sound was heard as a dooryway uneanth him opened that had stairs that lead downward into an underground base.
He walked for a bit until coming to a metal door with a slit as he kncoked on it a few good times like a password. Then the slit open as someone looked seeing it was him nodding.
"Come on in frankie"a women said as the man in question had a toned build to him as he had light black skin. His age seemed to suggest he was twenty was wearing a pair of workmans coveralls with the straps off with a red wool sweater underneath it. Along with a pair of dirty hiking boots, pouches decorated his waist and he had a large pickaxe on his back
The man known as frankie walked into the underground base passing by several people hard at work faunus and human. Most of which wore miner unifroms and their were both humans and faunus like some of them old and young. Though he passed by some doing maintence on weapons and explsoives.
But he walked straight to a table that had a man at the head of it. The man had pale skin and light blue hair that was messy. He seemed to be twenty six. He was wearing blue miner jumpsuit that was slightly dirty. But he had armor on the shoulder, elbows. Along with greaves and a chest plate with some pouches on his hips. He wore a pair of dark black boots.
"Frankie their you are brother what news do you have for me? Is graz gonna actually go through with our attack on those bastard?"the man asked as frankie smirked at him.
"Actually more like our mayor got some actually huntsman to help us. More specifically one of them being the infamous qrow branwhen"frankie replied as a few people stopped what they were doing staring at the man. The man in the mining unfirom went slack jaw for a bit before smiling.
"Fianlly we got an actually huntsman to help us that dam grimm freak. Everyone!"the man called out as they all looked at him.
"We got great news frankie here says that we got huntsman here one of them being the branwhen tribe leader. Which means he might have brought some of his tribe to help us. Tommorrow i'll persoanlly greet him and explain our situation and plan"the man said as the group seemed to cheer for that with hope it seems.
Frankie smiled patting the man on the shoulder"don't worry percy make sure to look presentable. Oh and poppy brother in town go say hi man"frankie said as he agreed on that. Because tommorrow morning he'll go see about getting their support to save their town.
It was a bright new morning in the town of deepwald though right now in slekt room she was antsy. After having a cup of red liquid it seems she placed it down jumping in joy. She had a crystal ball in hand as she cahnneled into it for call her queen
"My mistresses. I call for an audience"selket replied
The ball glowed a dark red and black as smoke came out of the ball and before long a pale figured appeared before her in the smoke. It was salem.
"My dear selket. What brings you to call me?"Salem asked motherly as selket bowed before her on all her knees.
"A thousand apologies my mistresses. I wanted to tell you we have five new sibling added to our little family. Four of which are under control. But sister delta said she spotted that whore who took my husbands stinger. Along with the silver eyed girl"selket replied
This brought a curious, yet small smile to salem as she spoke.
"That great to hear, we've needed good news since yesterday"salem stated to selket intrigue
"What happened my mistresses?"selket asked worried as salem paused for a moment.
"That zeta has been killed by the huntsman in vale. Along with that we've seemed to have found winter maiden for the vault in atlas alongside the traditor omega"salem replied to her shock as she wanted to make a request.
"My queen i have a request can i please slaughter the hayley girl. It'll anger that traditor"selket begged for permission as salem shook her head.
"No i want you to capture her. We can use her to lure the silver eyed girl out and recapture the traditor."salem stated which brought an upset look to the women face. Salem noticed this before an idea came to her.
"I understand you'd like nothing more than to kill her dear. But bring her alive, then you and your husband can torture her for what she did."salem suggested which brought a smile to selket face nodding.
"I shall my mistresses for you"selkt said as salem vanished from her sights. Selket was very disappointed she couldn't kill her but the thought of her and her husband torturing her brings a blissful look to her face. She should visit the town today.
Though right now in poppy house it was a buzz as rogue and ruby were in the living room. The two were working on upgrading mercury boots dubbed talaria. They woke up before everyon else and it was a strange sight to see. Because the two were very skilled in their crafts.
"Okay just need to tweak the barrels here to support using dust shot. If we do that it won't destory his legs if he uses gravity dust rounds or electric dust rounds"rogue stated as she used a small sauding iron on the barrels to increase it durability by heating it.
"Got it oh add insolation inside it so it doesn't short circuit his legs"ruby said as she was doing that to the boots.
"That could work for shock absorption and recoil, maybe once his legs are fixed. We should mod the servos on it to make him jump higher"rogue suggested as ruby nodded in agreement at that. They continued their little weapon building as the other watched while they finished breakfast.
"Man those two seem to be enjoyign themselves"nora said as she dug into a stack of pancakes in delight.
"They both are highly skilled in weapon modding and maintence. Its nice to see our friends enjoying themselves"ren added
"Same here pinkie though they better not destory my legs again"mercury wanred.
Tina hummed as she messed with her scroll"they won't if they do it correctly it can absorb the recoil on your weapons. Also mr. thanatos and his daughter will probably reinforce your legs with stronger alloys"tina casually said as the group looked at the girl becuase she seemed like einstein or something.
"I kinda forgot that shes really smart for her age"jaune replied
"Oh you know my daughter despite her age she got the brain of a top atlas scientist in their"graz said ruffling tina hair as she just continued messing with her scroll.
Poppy nodded as she was cleaning up dishes with ren as she handed them to him as he dried them off.
"I know but today were heading into town, i need to grab a few things their. Poppy said
"Got it though what the plan for when you guys go into town?"merucry asked
Ruby looked over at them but her eyes were different because they were bright red like rubies. Qrow helped her put them in this morning but not before poking her in the eye a couple times but apolgized.
"Well later today me and rogue will finish working on your leg. But we could head to the library to get some info"ruby suggested
"Why should we head their?"nora questioned as she wiped maple syrup off her mouth with a rag.
"Well the nevermore knight that died might have went missing eight years ago. Maybe selket did too, dig up anything on the mine to stage a counter attack"jaune replied
"Extactly the more we know the better chance we have to stop him. But their also finding that percy guy"rogue reminded
Graz was their as he traded his normal clothes for a dress suit with black stripes on it. He also wore brown dress shoes with a bear pin on his collar with a black tie.
"He'll probably visit me at my office later, some of you can stop by later. I'm heading out"graz said as he waved them goodbye with a suitcase in hand. The others quickly finihsed up their breakfast as they set off into town. They soon reached the middle fo town as poppy had tina with them as she stayed close to her mother for safety.
"So where is the library?"ren asked
"Oh its not that far actually its close to the chapel actually the revnard their is nice. But the women who runs it is actually these twin sister mother"poppy replied
"You mean pollax, maybe we'll see her again"nora replied
"Maybe though how we gonna do this?"juane asked because they needed to split up to complete their goal. Ruby thought for a moment as she studied the group then came up with something.
"Well -arc has to visit a place close by to the tavern. Maybe uncle, rogue and jaune go with her. While me, ren and nora check out the library"ruby suggested as they nodded in agreement.
"Alright, but the library is that way just keep following the main road until you get their"poppy stated as ruby and her group started to walk off. But as they did qrow looked worried wonderign if she'll run into trouble their. He just hoped those contact lens kept her identity a secret.
Though their group just walked for a bit following poppy as she made some stops. They visit a general store to grab some grocies then visited weapon store to poppy annoynace. Because tina almost picked up a large axe and she rather not have her daughter become a huntresses.
They did their arrands for maybe about twenty minutes as they soon got close to the tavern of the town.
"Alright all i need to do is grab something from ted inside the tavern then we can head back"poppy replied
"What do you need from him?"jaune asked his big sister.
Tina hummed for a moment"mom wants to get some of dad favorite alcohol that they have here. Along with thats it their anniversary next week"she simply replied
Poppy sighed"sometimes i find it strange how your just like one of your aunts"poppy said as jaune knew who he was talking about. His younger sister who the brains of their siblings of the arc family.
"Hey being smart isn't that bad"rogue reassured
Qrow chuckled"keep telling yourself that blondie. You act smart but also act pretty stupid at times"he jabbed receiving a shoulder tap from her as he rubbed the spot.
"Sprry that i like to be free spirited like my cold sister."rogue said as she seemed upset by that. Eria probably hates her guts right now for leaving home but needed to stop team BRAS from commiting more events like the fall.
"Lets head inside and talk to ted, hopefully those men aren't here"poppy said as they walked inside to the tavern. Luckily no crimson talon grunts were here except a few patrons who seemed happy as the abrtedner now known as ted looked up.
"Ah poppy great to see you and i see you brought your little muchkin. Also you two are back here again"ted said in annoyance it seems. Some of them took seats at the counter as tina spinned around in the stool for a bit.
"Oh come on man were here to help your business out, getting rid of a pest problem that isn't here at the moment"qrow replied
"He right because you should tell us what we want to know. I've seen them control a town before because they were looking for someone. "Rogue added as ted slightly reacted to that but kept his stoic posutre and face.
"Your asking for good old percy…hmm don't know him and his crew hang out alot. Heard he hangs out with frankie or Graz alot"ted said hinting to a contact
"I'll probably hit him up after a nice refreashing glass of water"qrow said as ted gave them some water while poppy talked to one his employees for her delivery. Though while they did loud footsteps could be heard as the tavern door swung open.
Everyone looked over as some were in shock seeing the psychotic women standing their with her mask on. It was selket which was a red flag as rogue sneakily made her way to the second floor to avoid her dection. But selket noticed this deciding to play with her prey as asher and maya flanked her sides, six soldier behind them armed.
They walked in as everyone seemed to be in fear of the group as qrow kept his cool as he drank. But selket walked over to the bar taking a seat as her stinger swayed around.
"Bar keep i'd like some gin and tonic please with hint of dragonfruit"selket asked sweetly.
"Uh right away ma'am"he neoruvsly said as he began to make her drink though sitting right next to selket was tina. The girl stared at her which selket noticed titling her head in her direction.
"Sweetie why do you keep staring at me is their something on my dress?"selket asked
"Why do you keep taking people from town?"tina bluntly asked to some shock she asked her that. Immediately rushing over poppy rushed over picking her daughter up holding her close with a force smiled.
"I'm so sorry…uh my little girl is very curious please excuse her for being so rude"poppy nerovusly said but the psychotic women laughed at that.
Selket placed a hand on her chin lifting her mask up"its alright miss. I have a little girl just like you, my little rosemary gets curious herself."she said booping tina on the nose which made the girl hug her mother closer.
"But for what were doing their just helping us expand your mine like i said before. Like doctor wisteria told you and maya were here to help you"she answered
"Though you seem familiar have i seen you somewhere before?"mata asked looking at jaune who kept a straight face.
"Nope i've never seen you before, sorry i'm her younger brother. Were just visiting then we'll be on our way"jaune replied as qrow sat their ready to attack them incase. Upabove rogue reached into her pouch caressing a grenade in hand if they need a quick exit. While qrow kept eyeing asher which didn't go unnotice by him.
Selket stood up walking toward jaune to their shock which scared him a little putting some fear into him. But the deathstalker knight just inhaled deep as if she was sniffing him looking for a certain scent. Then she glanced up to the second level announcing something confusing.
"You have omega scent all over you…along with the girl upstairs. Pleasure to meet the traditors partner, and the bitch who took my husband stigner. Omega will be so happy to see you"selket said patting his head with her stinger. Rogue covered her mouth in fear that she knows its her as selket turned to the patrons.
"If you all see anything suspicious report it to us. We'll take our leave"selket said taking her drink leaving the fine establishment enjoying it. Then everyone returned to their drinks as rogue walked back down with a thousand yard stare. What did she mean by he'll be happy to see you.
Tina hugged poppy closer as she picked her duaghter up"we told you theirs one here, maybe you should just leave go to mistral and get huntsman to help us"poppy asked
"Can't do that were already involved. And it seems she know who you are kid which means trouble"qrow said finishing his drink
"You took that psychos husband stinger. No wonder shes been pissed latly keeps going on rants on killing you i guess"ted added
"It seems so. But what did she mean by he'll be happy to see you again?"jaune aksed scared.
Rogue gripped the cloth tight in her hand"uh..you don't think they brought my partner back from the dead do you?"She asked with hope mixed with worrie.
Qrow cupped his chin"it could be possible but we'll discuss this later for now we head to your husband place. Be safe on your trip back home"Qrow said to poppy who nodded leaving them while they decided to visit the mayor of the town. But rogue was thinking what if her leader could be alive, could salem bring the dead back.
Though on the other side of town right now was ruby and company as they were lost for a bit but found their way. They arrvied at a medium size building with two stories to it along with some windows all along the buildings. Their was also a set of steps that lead straight to a pair of doors.
"Okay lets head inside to gather some intel on the town and who were dealing with"ruby said as the three of them headed up the stiars and inside the library. The library inside was rather huge since it had two floors and a staircase leading downstairs as it had books shelf upon book shelf worth of books that are just waiting to be read. Their was a amin floor that can seat maybe twenty people at a time. Their was also computers avaible for people to use as they wish.
In the middle of this is a big circular desk that had few computers and a few people running the desk. One of them stood out that being a women who seemed to be in her late thitires with light tan skin, her eyes were light purple as she had black hair in a bun. She wore a collarded blouse that was aqua blue. Along with a pencil skirt with thehem just above the knees that is dark black in color. She wore some legging underneath it colored aqua blue as well with some short black heels.
The women looked up greeting them"ah hello welcome to deepwald library how may i help you?"she asked
"Oh uh where wondering if you have any books on any influential figures here or people who've gone missing eight years ago"ruby asked
The women leaned agianst the counter"i think we do i'll call my daughter over to help you"she said looking behind her since she wasn't far.
"Pollax sweetie could you please help these people"she asked as pollax turned as she had a cart of books she just finihsed putting away.
"Oh sure thing mom…hey its you two from yesterday"pollax said pointing to ren and nora.
"Hello their mrs. dioscuri"ren greeted
Nora walked over hugging the girl to their surprise as pollax gasped for air.
"Hello again!"nora shotued but then several people shushed the loud girl as nora laughed a little. Maybe it was a bad idea to bring nora to a library since she so loud.
Pollax then noticed ruby here as she stared her for a moment before just squealing queitly.
"Aww aren't you just adorable"pollax said as ruby nervously backed up she didn't wanna get suffocated again.
"Uh thank you uh i'm ruby rose nice to meet you"ruby nerovusly said offering a hand as pollax took it.
"Pleasure all mine though mom says you need help finding something. I'll help you out"pollax said as her mother named calypso nodded at her.
"That be alright dear but please be careful"calyps warned to pollax annoyance but she guided them to a certain part of the library. It had several old newspapers it seems from back in the day.
"Here we are some records on news articles, news papers we had in town that date back to eight years. Need help finding anything?"pollax asked
"Sure more the merrier"ruby replied as the four began their search through the records. They started to split up for their search for anything related to missing people in the last eight years. About two hours past as they couldn't find anything but they contineud to look. Another hour came went as nora slammed her head on the table as she groaned placing a book down.
"This is so annoying we've found nothing on these grimm knights"nora replied as they explained to pollax what they were doing and she was all for it.
"Well if your looking for missing people it'll be hard, we might not have any articles on them. "Pollax suggested though ruby was looking through some articles that were in mistral. Until one caught her eye that said aarne crowely dead in line of duty and a few that caught her attention.
"Guys i think i found something on aarne crowley. And a few other one caught my attention as well"ruby said as they gathered at the table. She layed out some newspaper as the one with aarne was strange.
Because it said mistral huntress aarne crowlery found dead in vacou deserts. She was confirmed dead after finding her legs and feathers at the scene. The women was sent on a mission in vacou to deal with bandits but they killed her and grimm took her bodie away. It showed aarne in the news article but less grimm like in appearance.
Another talked about a cannibal serial killer who went missing eight years ago. The man was wanted killing around three hundred and twnety three people. Along with leaving corpse that had piece of flesh missing.
"Okay its a serial killer so what?"nora asked blowing a piece of paper off her face.
Ren tapped his chin"could he be one of those grimm knights maybe?"ren asked as ruby nodded
"He could thats just speculation but we did run into tyrian callows before"ruby said as this made pollax go wide eyed.
"Wait thats the psycho chick last name. Are they related?"pollax replied
"I think their husband and wife. But we ran into him and a cult a while back. They tried to burn me and nora home down"ren replied as this was a surprise to hear that a serial killer married a grimm knight.
"That just great relly hope he doens't visit here soon"pollax said with hope.
"Agreed, but here take a look at this one because look at whos in it"ruby said presenting the other newsarticle with a picture. It showed the moushtache mad scienitst watts front and cneter along with another family face close by. It showed will scarlitina with him as it showed a few familiar names that being someone name pietro polidina.
"Wait a minute thats velvet dad"nora pointed out
"Yes, also isnt that man last pennys?"ren asked as ruby looked down noding somberly she stared at the table as she messed with her cloak.

This chapter was interesting because it seems selket has been tasked to take rogue to hold her for ransom. Along with that ruby and company have split up to cover some ground by digging up intel on these grimm knights. Along with meeting new charaters who are my own oc if new names were mentioned.
