chapter 21:Patrol
After their little meeting in the command all of them were busy gearing up right now. Checking over all their gear and dust supplies making sure they had everything they needed for their journey into the city. As they the others from yesterday headed to the medical tent to clear the mental suggestion up.
"Alright so you kiddies ready for a little field trip into grimm city?"leon asked as he slung his rifle over his back.
"You know it my fellow deadeye"may said offering a fistbump as he returned it.
"Well for starters i'm surprised to see some of you here today"nezumi pointed out as joining them was miyuki and trifa.
"Hey pearson you aint going with us on this. Your suppose to stay here remember?"naca remind frimly.
"Look for starters i can't just stay here sitting around all day. Eden resting most of them time and–"but she was stopped by some others.
"I agree with her look just stay here where its safe"akasha supported.
Cardin looked at the girl hip seeing a sword on her hip. The sword in question was in sheathe scabbard on her back. But the handle of it was plain dark brown with an icy blue sheathe on it. Although on the grip a purple glow came from it.
"Yeah even if you got that fancy sword their you don't got huntsman training"cardin stated as she drew the sword holding it with both hands.
"Hey i can handle myself stu taught me a thing or two about handling a sword"miyuki said
"Who the heck is stu?"earl questioned close by as he checked his shotgun pistol over for enough dust shot. A somber look came over her face as she sheathe the sword.
"He..he was eden and piper dad….that mutt killed him. Then he took her dads weapons as trophys"miyuki said gribbing her wrist for a second. Glynda closed her eyes walking over placing a hand on her.
" please go to the medical tent. Peach said early actually your friend could move around the base with the use of a wheelchair"glynda said getting her attention as she walked off toward it. Then she refocused her attention to the group.
"Since we've taken out a grimm knight. We can start clearing more the city since those soldier have retreated. Their number have dwindle it seems. But from what we were told this morning their is already a new leader"glynd stated
"Wait how the heck do you guys know that?"gwen questioned loading her prosthetic with enough knives as they snapped in place. Trifa shivered slightly clearing her throat.
"Uh well we integrated a soldier this morning and confirmed with the doc. They got eight captains that have equal ranks to hassan"trifa said
"Great guess we might be dealing with more merc here"aksaha said annoyed
"Nah my guess is their tasked with different divisions in their company. Probably won't even run into any here"leon reassured as picto stepped forward.
"Besides that your too head to three major locations around the city. The first being the festival grounds it is in ruin. But i sent two patrols over their but they haven't returned yet. We'll send a group of five"picto said
"Hmm well i'll go over. But i'll take my fellow deadeye, earl, port and lets see…panda ears"leon stated
"Alright then i'll head over to the business district. Cardin, gwen, and trifa your with me"tulip ordered as they nodded.
"Fianlly the rest of you will head with me that being akasha, dew, naca, octavia. Your clearing the tower with me"picto ordered as they all nodded. They all separated into their groups approaching the gate. But before they left someone called out to them.
"Hey wait up i'm coming too"tia said approaching the group which confused them.
"Uhh why do you wanna come with us?"dew questioned holding her spear out.
Tia panted slightly before catching her breath"for starters i've lived in vale all my life. I know the place like the back of my hand. The business district especially."she replied
Picto thought for a moment nodding as he grabbed a small pack handing it too her along with a standard atlas rifle.
"Fine you can join their group. But don't be dead weight out their got it"picto ordered as she nodded. Then in an instance all the groups started to separate where they neded to go.
It took them about a couple hours to get where may, leon, earl, port and yumi needed to go. Once they got to the festival grounds it was a mess as the tents around the place were tattered. Their was some of them still standing but only pieces of them remained. The ground was littered in trash and old rotten found dotting the ground.
As they walked through may glanced seeing a bloodstained stuff uras on the ground which upsetted her. Yumi noticed the girl pause.
"Look it was a pretty sad day for everyone that day. Especially seeing something like that"yumi said with her magnums out ready to shoot anything that move.
May sighed as she held her sniper close"i know…its just…so many people are gone. This day was suppose to celebrate the end to the great war"may begun as they began walk through the fair grounds.
"But now its just one of the biggest tragedies in the world. I remeber my team coming here after i lost the single round. They tried to cheer me up telling me i did great but.."may paused before covering her left eye as her she placed her sniper in her offhand.
Earl noticed her pause walking back placing a hand on her"look you don't gotta continue. You still managed to save your best friend before he died. That means something" earl wisley said as the girl smiled nodding to her new teammate thanking him.
"Well for starters kid don't start blaming yourself for their deaths. I speak from experience"leon said which peeked their interest a little. That made earl recalled something that he said when they went to the supply shed to take it back.
"You said this before…you talked about survivors guilt or whatever"earl said as the man nodded whichs surprised may he had that. Because she does feel guilty at times being alive while her leader and other teammate died making sure they lived. It still hurts at time but she just has to keep looking toward the positives.
Leon sighed as he held both his pistol out at the ready"look i'm just saying when your in the military. You see alot of friends die but…that for another time. Keep focus"leon stated firmly avoiding the subject. They agree on that as they kept moving throug the fair ground.
After about ten minutes of searching they soon spotted something that stuck out. That being an atlas soldier assult rifle laying against a ring toss game.
"Hey over their that looks like an atlas soldier weapon."yumi pointed out as they walked over. Once they were over their the most apparent thing was the spent dust caseing that lined the ground. Their was also several deep claw marks groved into the ground.
Port noticed them kneeling down caressing them seeing hooked like claws into the ground. May noticed him examining it as she joined him.
"What do you got over here teach?"may asked
Port moved his figner through the groove then brought his figner up tasting it to their disgust"judging by these grooves we are dealing with a teryx. Normally only found in solitas, why is it here"port replied
But leon just went wide eyed hearing what he found as he tighten his grip harder onto his silenced pistol grips.
"What the heck are those extaclty?"earl questioned
"Their annoying little pest is what they are. Dealt with them several times back in atlas when in recon. "Leon said with venom in his tone. Which didn't go unnoitce by them but they didn't question it. May though noticed a blood trail as she placed her hand on it. It was hard as it looked hours old probably from the two patrols that went over here.
"Hmm this blood pretty old though i don't know where those soldier are because it goes everywhere"may said
"Well that gonna be a probably the fair ground are huge how we gonna find them"yumi replied
Leon without a word stepped over grabbing the automatic weapon in his hand tight. Then soon enough he activated his semblances as they all watched something happen. An appereitatn appeared of a small squad of six atlas soilders like they were right next to them.
"What how did you do that?"earl questioned
"Its my semblnaces its known as echo i'm able to play certain things that happen. Sort of like a flashback if you will. But only from something from about two months ago"leon said as they decided to watch the memoire play out in front of them.
"Alright squad search the area for any signs of grimm activity. Along with that watch out for anything that we might run into"the atlas soldier said as they all nodded. They watched as the six soldier started to spread out as the owner of the rifle spoke to another.
"Man can't belive we actually found survivors in the city"a male atlas soilder said baffled.
"I know right heck they even had kids."a female soldier said as it showed her picking up a small plush that she waved it around
"You think we should bring something back after we clear the grimm here. Pretty sure that little kid been scared"the female soldier replied as the male soilder chuckled
"Eh sure why not though i don't regret staying here. I wo–"but the soldier was caught off mid sentence as a blur like ghost took him away. It showed him screaming in pain as the other soldier began to open fire onto what attacked them. Gunfire could be heard from the echo until eventually it ceast as it disappeared in a wisp of smoke.
Yumi looked at what the soldier had and it was a small little panda plush"guess not everyone in atlas is bad. But where did they go?"she asked.
"Hmmm perhaps over their in that yonder foodstance"port said as he pointed over toward a neabry food stall with the windows close. It was a metal stand that had a giant hotdog on it. Although they all looked to see several grimm surrounding it along with something ontop the foodstand.
Their stood a large raptor like grimm with large, trasnculcent red wings with visible veins. It has a bone like spine on its neck and tail almost resembling feather quills. Their toes are also raptor like claws.
"Seems thats were out guys are. I count at least maybe five grimm two beowolves, one uras and a banshee. Including that teryx"earl stated bringing his weapon out ready.
"Alright but that teryx looks pretty strong. How we gonna kill it?"yumi questioned lookng toward port who thought for a moment before coming with an idea. But he also noticed something strange about the teryx behavior.
"For starters that teryx is acting awfully strange"port said pointing toward the grimm.
"What do you mean its acting weird?"yumi questioned
"Those things claw are sharp enough to rip through bullheads in an instant. My guess is that things trying to lure more prey in. look at its victims"leon said gesturing to close by. They all looked close by to see four dead bodies that were either half eaten or torn to shreds. Earl gagged slihglty from the sight but kept it down.
"Alright that isn't disgusting anyone got an idea to deal with them?"earl asked
"I have a suggestion. Those four other grimm are easy prey while the teryx will be tough to handle. "Port explained his plan.
"So what your suggesting we take the four other grimm out first then kill the teryx?"may replied but he shook his head.
"No while the outsider of its tough the inside of it's vulnerable. Mainly when it uses it mouth to attack."port continued.
"Alright so what the plan then teach?"yumi asked as port walked over close by placing a hand on someone. That someone begin earl whos tail drooped to the ground at what he was suggesting. Use his semblance to keeps its mouth open.
"Oh i see what you mean alright you all ready to kill ome grimm and rescue some soilder?"leon asked as they all nodded in agreement. May quickly hoped up onto nearby destroyed cargo truck as she got a nice little perch. She nodded telling them she was in position.
"Alright move out!"leon shotued as port was the first to engage using his axe to hack away at the lunging beowulf. It was launched back but this resulted in two more joining the fray from nearby. It wasn't a problem for him as he blasted one back instantly killing it. The other grimm didnt expect as he lunged toward the old huntsman to duck. Though as he did his back slihglty cracked, port quickly recovered blasting the beowulf back
An uras ran up on yumi to swipe at her with its paws as it swung its maw at her she dodged it expertly. Then she brought her fanblades out as she tossed one into its chest bruying it deep. She quickly pulled out one magnum proceeding to fire several shots into the fanblade digging it deeper until it went through killing it.
With may she lifted her beanie up as she focused her attention at the banshee. The grimm opened its head ready to deliver a devastating shriek. But this was just what she wanted as she pressed trigger as a purple beam shot out. Before the grimm knew what hit it, its head was taken clean off as it stood their wobbling for a bit before disappearing into black smoke.
Leon and earl doubled teammed the teryx as it looked down at its new prey. Leon kept firing several pistol shots at it to get its attention which it did. The teryx roared at the man rearing up unfolding its wings to full length before taking to skies then dived bomb at him.
Seeing hes got it sattention he quickly dodged it as he kept firing at it as his bullet bounced off it. Then it dived at him again as he dodge it as its jaws got stuck in the dirt for a bit. Quickly holstering his pistol he pulled his sniper out. Then with a press of a button the large caliber sniper changed. It started to take the shape of a large claymore like sword. It gleaned in the light as some initials could be seen etched onto the hilt of the sword in gold.
"Alright kid get ready i'll district it you be the chew toy!"leon shouted to earl who gulped nerovusly nodding. Before they knew it the teryx broke free as it reared its head back then launched a hail of ice breath at him. But leon was quicker to the draw rolling out of the way as he slashed at its wing but barely made a begin to flap its wings as it knocked the man hard into a nearby stall hard. Leon groaned as he felt like he was implanted into the wall.
The teryx saw its prey down roaring at it lurched forward to snatch him up. But this gave earl the chance as he acitvted his semblance causing a giant protective bubble to form. The donkey faunus smiled he was alive.
"Hey i did it! Ha eat you overgrown chicken"earl jabbed sticking his tongue out but the sound of something cracking could be heard. He looked to see his bubble slowly cracking as the teryx pressed down hard with its teeths. May noticed the two in trouble quickly sheathing her sniper jumping down.
Once she rolled into a sprint as she dug through her pouches for a bit. After some searching for a while she found what she was looking for. An epxlosive dust shot, she quickly loaded it into a brand new clip then loaded it in. time seemed to move at a snail pace as may lined herself up as their was a small spot in its mouth for her to shoot.
The pulled of the trigger was loud bang was heard as the burning bullet came out of the barrel heading right into the grimm mouth. It bounced into its throat as it caused it to jump back.
The grimm roared in pain as small explosions began to erupt inside its body as it was blowing apart. Then one final explosion desotryed the grimm entirely as the blast also blasted both earl and leon back. The others were done with the grimm as leon landed hard onto the ground as his aura slightly flickered.
"Are you alright gent?"port said walking over offering a hand to him. Leon grabbed it but winced in pain slightly as he rubbed his side. The man exhlaed slowly but his knees buckled as he panted slightly. Yumi noticed this walking over moving his shrit up to reveal a small red rash starting to form with small purple spots starting to form.
"Looks like you bruised your side pretty bad might be a broken rib"yumi stated as they all regroup. Earl panted in relief sighing right now as he wiped the swet away.
"That was…very intense…i thought that thing was going to swallow me whole"earl said panting heavily.
May slung her rifle as she walked over helping yumi guide leon to a nearby picnic table"eh well your alive. Though tough luck man guess your…"may stopped mid sentence as she eyed leons left hand. The glove was torn off as it revealed something a metal prothseitc hand that war dark gray with yellow lining it. Along with five people initials on it with the words"remeber recon 3-6, keep on living for them" it read.
"What…what with the little monto on that prosthetic hand?"may questioned as they sat him down. Leon looked at her as he sighed removing his shades. Then he just stared at the cloudly skies above them as the man caressed his metal hand.
"That what i meant early by my experience with survivors guilt. I was the only one of my sqaud to survive an attack"leon begun his little tale of guilt for being the last one standing.
"We were the best in our company back in atlas. Me and five of my buddies, two of which i helped get together actually. Best sharpshooters in our platoon when i used to serve with them."leon paused swallowing for a moment as a tear welled up.
"But…we get sent to soltias to deal with some grimm that been terroziing the local convoys their. Though once we get their we get attacked by a small flock of teryx. They took our bullhead down like it was nothing. We crash two of my friends died, we surived. Made a last stand teryx took my hand…when i killed it…saw my other three friends dead."leon finished as he had some small tears escaped but wiped them away.
"So that what you meant by survivors guilt….i..is that why you left the military?"Earl asked as he nodded.
"Yep but piece of advice…it'll be hard to mourn for your friends you lost. But keep living for them don't forget their scarfieces"leon stated with pride it seems.
May just looked at him for a moment thinking about his words. She missed her two teammates everyday wishing they were still here. That if she wasn't weak relying on sniping so much they could still be here. But she took his words to heart they died saving her and nolan. They need to keep living for them.
"Y-your right…it hurts their gone. But i'm sure they want us to keep up the good fight"may said smiling. Port walked over pounding on the stall door as it opened. Soon seven atlas soldier stepped out greeted them with weapons at the ready.
"Thank remannt you all got here finally. That dam bird trapped us in their since yesterday"an atlas soldier said
"Well your lucky we came to your rescue. Let get moving shall we"port said as they helped support who was wounded, then they started to make their way back to base slowly.
Meanwhile across town town right now where the CCT tower was akasha, octavia, dew, naca and picto reached the outer perimeter of the tower. But it was still a short walk as they made some small conversation.
"So how bad is it over here near the CCT tower?"dew questioned.
"Pretty bad last i saw it was swarming with grimm. With it down it makes communication pretty hard"picto replied
"Well let just clear some of them out then keep clearing some places out"akasha said in confidence.
But as they did octavia seemed very annoyed right now which got naca attention slightly.
"What up with you? You seem very annoyed about something right now?"naca questioned as the red haird girl gripped her dagger tight.
"Oh i'm more than annoyed. That grimm hybrid keeps joking around likes it nothing back in the base"octavia said anger as picto scoffed hearing that.
"I agree dam kid needs to stop joking around like he did nothing wrong"picto said with malice in his tone. Dew wanted to speak but didn't wanna start a fight with everyone since grimm could be around.
Akasha rolled her eyes holding her shotgun out watching their backs"come on give the guy a break. Maybe joking helps him destress everyone keeps giving him crap back in base."akasha argued
Octavia turned looking at the girl as she got in her face"oh really? Because does that thing even feel guilt for what it started?"she started a small rant as they stopped looking at the two. Akasha glared at her for pointing a finger in her face.
"For starters i'm glad that dumb lynx isn't being all pissy now. But seriously that thing killed hundreds of people and i don't like how its going to menagerie. We aren't sending him to jail for the crimes it committed."octavia argued as naca stepped up pushing her back.
"Hey relax embers sorry your piss–"naca couldn't even finish as octavia decided to hit a very sour spot.
"Shut up naca. Pretty sure no one likes your family name back in vacuo. Your own ancestor helped kill one of your family. Then became a long line of serial killers over the years"octvia spat making naca back up visible. Without even saying a word she continued onward with picto following her as dew and akasha hanged back with naca.
From dew point of view she could see several butterflies that showed sadness, anger, shame and regret. But this made the falcon faunus curious what exactly she meant by that. Because it sounded like everyone in vacuo hated her family.
"What did she mean by your family being a long line of serial killers?"akasha questioned as naca hugged herself looking away.
Dew sighed stepping forward with her spear at the ready"look back in the day me and her knew each other. I know naca better than anyone else"dew said as she placed a hand on naca shoulder who sighed.
"That you do gayle, kinda sucks that i moved kingdoms because of my dumb ancestor"naca said in disgust which intiruged akasha a little.
"Alright so what did this so called ancestor of yours do"akasha questioned
The girl paused for a moment thinking how to answer, she rather not reveal to them yet about who salem is. But she just sighed deciding to begin the small tale.
"Well long ago hundreds of year ago. I had an ancestor by the name of will vicent he was this well known thief and charmer in all of vacuo. Depsite his status as a thief he did some good in the world. Along with that he went on many adventures with some stuck up guy named ozlo"naca begun her family little tale.
The two listened intensively it seem as it might help them pass the time while they walked to their destination.
"This guy and him went on so many grand adventures together. Despite both of them being from different types of backgrounds. Eventually they became friend but soon enough tragedy struck"naca continued with a somber look.
"What exactly happened?"akasha asked hesaintly.
Naca sighed rubbing her arm"that my ancestors brother killer him with his wife help. Then pledged themselves to serve a local cult in the continent. My family split in half as that side became serial killers. "She continued before gesturing to herself.
"Then their my side of the family…we got ran out of vacuo because of it. But i'm lucky that other half of my family not near me"naca finished her tale as they took into account.
Akasha sighed patting her on the shoulder"that sounds tough though just keep your chin up. Your doing that ancestor of yours proud"she reassured which brought a smile to her face.
"Let catch up with the others. Their probably waiting for us"dew reminded as they nodded. They quickly caught up with the two as they looked over a small wall at the CCT tower. Once their they noticed the large amount of grimm their. It mainly seemed like uras and beowulfs.
"Doesn't look like too much trouble. We can take these guys no problem"octavia replied
"Not too much trouble. I can count at least thirty grimm down their"akasha pointed out not really liking this already.
Naca chuckled as she activated her semblance spiting off into three clones"well its seven of us against thirty of them. We can handle this"the three clones said in unison.
"Alright then heres the plan. Dew you use your spear to launch a hurl of ice dust at them. Octavia you use your dagger to try and damage that ursas. Take care of it quickly. Naca you use your clones to quickly try and sweep throught those beowulf."picto beugn but looked at akasha for a moment because he didn't know what she could do.
"Uhh alright what can you do?"picto asked
The girl stared at them before placing a hand on a nearby wall making a purple hole appear. She didn't answer as she hoped down quickly sneaking her way through the grimm. This worried them as they were about to get involved. But dew stopped them.
"Wait i think she showing us her semblance in action"dew stated
Picto ready his magnum"you sure kid because that girls asking for a death wish."picto stated as they watched her from a distance.
Down below akasha quietly snuck around the grimm since they were all near the outer perimeter of the tower. Quickly getting close to a car she placed her hand on it. Then on their side the purple portal quickly changed to reveal her waving to them. Without a second though they crossed through as they were right behind the grimm.
Picto looked at the group nodding as he moiotned for them to attack. Immedialty the first to engage was dew as she tiwlred her spread around then launched a devastating gust of ice at the grimm. The grimm noticed their new prey as they roared at them deciding to attack them. But as the cold wind blew through three of them got frozen.
Naca blue clone raised her handcannon firing at the three killing them as they shattered to pieces. A grimm came at the clone swiping at her several times but she cartwheeled backwards avoiding its attacks. The clone was nervous but fired into its skull stunning it. It snarled at her making her yelp slightly.
"I'm sorry….please don;t kill me"the blue clone said as the grimm didn't care as it went for the kill. But quickly the blue clone fired into its head killing it. Another grimm tried to attack her but the black clone came rushing in with her uzi. She quickly filled it with holes as it stumbled backwards for a bit before being killed.
Another two grimm came toward the two but a white blue came in from the side. The white clone quickly whacked out its leg causing the grimm leg to buckle. But she quickly placed the bottom part of the tonfa under its chin pressing a button. A blade extended stabbing it in the jaw killing it. But the second grimm swiped at her sending her flying as she tumbled for a bit. After some tumbling she got up proceeding to attack it again.
But close by an uras charged toward octavia but using her dagger she aimed at the grimm. With a press of the trigger it fired a fireball at the uras stunning it momentarily. The uras roared at her but was quickly silenced by her dropkicking it's jaw which didn't kill it. The grimm saw this as it decided to as it tackled her sending her flying into a wall hard. It made her gasp slightly from the back as her aura took a large hit.
"Ahh my back…that really hurt"octavia groaned trying to sit up but as she did. The grimm took the chance to swip at her sending her into a nearby car hard. It resulted in more of her aura getting knocked down.
Nearby akasha was blasting away another grimm which made four in total. But the falcon faunus noticed the girl close by as the grimm slowly apporahced her. Octavia kept trying to stand up but kept failing several times.
"Crap i'm going for her!"akasha shotued as the others were dealing with grimm. Dew buried her spear into a beowulf head killing it. Then she went wide eyed seeing her teammate on the ground which worried her. But couldn't head off after her since the grimm kept coming.
Picto brought his magnum up friing into a beowulf stunning it momentarily. But it didn't count it out yet as it roared trying to impale him with its claws. But the captain dodged it as he jumped up spin kicking it in the jaw sending it flying into another. Without a second thought he ejected the spent clip, then pulled a new one in reloading. He then rentered the fray.
With octavia she stared at the uras that breath ehavily over her. She just stood their frozen as her life flashed before her eyes just for a moment. The uras opened it jaws ready to gobble her up. But as it closed its jaw quickly a blur came through grbabing the girl.
Akasha panted slightly as she looked at her"you okay? Because you got tossed around alot"akasha asked
"I'll be fine"octavia argued but as she was set down she tried to get up but a bolt of pain came from her back making her hiss as she fell down. The others quickly regroup seeing their still being large amount of grimm still closing in on them.
"We gotta move. Octavia hurt so we gotta retreat"akasha said picking her up wrapping her arm around her shoulder.
"No…no we got this…shade academy huntresses are the best around"octavia said panting slightly as she tired to look tough.
Picto looked at her current condition along with the large amount of grimm. Without arguing he nodded in agreement as he pulled out some grenades. He pressed down on the button tossing them as they immediately ertuped into a wall of fire. It blocked the grimm from chasing them as they all decided to make a hasty retreat.
They quickly found a nearby alleyway to recovery from their fight as akasha set octavia down who tried to stand up. But she placed her hands on her to sit down.
"I'm fine…i just got bruised is all or whatever"octavia argued but akasha shook her head.
"Nope because from how your moving your hurt. Cap and vincent keep an eye out for any grimm"akasha ordered as they didn't argue walking toward the edge of the alleyway.
"Alright dew take a look at it i'll hold her up"akasha ordered as dew nodded as she hoisted the girl up.
With her back turned dew lifted up her teammates shirt careuflly moving the pieces of clothing of her outfit to get a better look at it. Once she moved it around for a bit octavia winced in pain slightly.
"It'll hurt octa just be patient let me check this bruise out"dew replied gently as octavia nodded. Then she lifted it up carefully seeing the full extent of the injury that being a large brusie on her back. It seemed to start turning into a large red rash over her back but some spots were already dark purple due to her aura being low.
"How bad is it?'akasha asked
"Its starting to turn purple right now but it looks like a red rash on your back. We should head back miss peach should have something to speed up the healing process."dew stated before lowering her teammates clothing straighreing it out.
"Good then we'll head back. I'll send someone tommorrow to deal with the CCT tower"picto replied as the five began to make their way back to camp.
Inside the mindscape a nightmare beowulf went flying into the air curiosity of a hammer swing from velvet. The bunny faunus quickly changed into a grenade launcher as she fired at the nightmare. It roared at her but it soon died from the grenade shells imapcting it as it turned to black dust.
She sighed in relief for a moment but soon was soon met by another nightmare. It howled trying to claw at her to slice her up. But as it snapped its jaws as she held it back with maginhild. It snarled as several bolts were buried into its side. All of them caused it to back up dying on the gorund.
Nebula was close by as she quickly blocked a strike from sabyr lunging at her. Three of them surround the girl as they swarmed her. But as she waited for them to pound they all did but using her enhanced agility. She leaped over the three nightmares who collide with each. In the air nebula smirked before launching several bolts at them killing them.
Once back on the ground safely they disappeared into dust as she looked close by. Vance was busy dealing with another two nightmares. He quickly dodged one that seemed to resembled a person surprisingly that being rogue.
The fake rogue and vance were duking it out as this time he was ready for her. Quickly seeing she brought her submachine guns out to kill him. He quickly threw his rope dart around her as it coiled around her. It cuased the fake to lay on the ground as he sliced it as it vnaished into dust.
Close by both zane and bane doubled teammed a large ursas. The two both brought their revolver under its jaw firing simtualnlosuly. Causing it to go up as both brought a sword up stabbing it in the lower jaw killing it. It vanished as they all just killed the remmaining grimm.
"Well that is that"nebula said putting her weapon away.
"Since were done dealing with those nightmares how far are we from the trauma ward?"velvet question
Bane looked over close by as a small frown came over to his face. The copy just rubbed his eyes pointing in a direction.
"Were here finally. Welcome to the worst memories inside my host head"bane said as he moved his arms to show them where they were. Because it didn't look appealing at all to them.
The front entrance of the memeorie hall was devoided of light as the lights in the long hallway like area flickered several times. From the looks of the place it rsemsebled a hospital wing from the looks of it. But their were cracks against the wall as screams could be heard in the distance.
A chill went up velvet spine"am i hearing thing, or does anyone else hear someone screaming down their?"velvet aksed pointing toward the path.
"You aint hearing thing bunny ears. I hear that too guessing whatever done their is messed up"vance said looking at his cousin.
But with zane he just started to take small rapid breaths staring down the hall. Because he really doens't wanna go see memories related to his time at the lab. Even thinking about it sometimes just causes him to start freaking out. Its why he never talks about.
"M-maybe you guys go..i'll be fine here….i can kill any nightmares that come our way"zane said stuttering in fear right now.
Celeste noticed him visible shaking which made her curious. What type of sick experiments were done on the people in those labs. Maybe after their done finding that mental sugestion she'll give that doctor a piece of her mind.
"Hey you gonna be alright over their. Because you look uh…scared"nebula pointed out the fact he literally shaking.
Velvet nodded walking forward placing a hand on his shoulder but he visible flicnehd as he prepared to block something. It caught them all offguard that he even did that.
"I wasn't going to hit you. "Velvet said concerned
"She right Z just relax. Look it'll be quick we just find the memorie then hope on out after destroying it"vance reassured as he gently took his cousin hand guiding him. Bane decided to lead them through the place. But unknown to them the terror was hot on their trial smiling that it caught up to its new playthings.
Once they were inside the trauma ward of the his head. Immediately they saw some statues that were severely cracked but still glowed bright. Along with several mirrors as something played out on each of them.
Celeste glanced at one as it showed a little kid being thrown into a room with a grimm. The women jaw just dropped seeing that as she looked over at zane. He had his hands over his ears with his eyes shut tight.
"Deep breath…don't look…don't look"zane kept telling himself over and over again. Vance just looked at a few mirrors as it just pained him seeing some of the stuff happen to his cousin. For starters he watched one seeing his cousin getting shocked over and over again with a collar. Another was him getting a beating it seems from the guards of the facility maybe for not taking a test.
Velvet ears flopped over trying not to get scare"this…this isn't right. All these memories just keep showing something terrible. Done to a little kid"vlevet said in shock this happened to him
"Your right…seriously i…i didn't expect this to be seeing this done to you?"nebula replied
"How the heck are you not insane from all this"she added
Zane fidgeted for a moment as he threw his hood up hiding his face as he tried to think of how to respond. It was silence for a bit until he spoke.
"I..i..i had therapy…it…it took me a while to even talk about it. This doesn't bring back pleasant memories"zane answered stuttering as he just kept visible shaking on the spot. Celeste soften her gaze walking over gently placing a hand on him making him jump slightly.
"Look kid i've seen people with PTSD. you got that but if it means anything sorry you had to go through this"celeste said but he just looked down as they kept moving for a bit. One of the memories caught velvet attention a little. The bunny faunus watched for a bit before gasping getting their attention.
"Whats up. You find the memeorie of the mental suggestion or something?"celeste asked as they looked at the girl who had a look of horror on her face. This worried some what she saw.
But zane froze slightly visible shaking"p-p-please don't tell me..its the memeorie of..that..that surgery"he begged in fear. Velvet hugged him trying to keep him calm but he just kept shaking as she rubbed his back to help him relax.
"Well then what the memorie. Quit leaving us in the dark"nebula said as bane walked over toward the memories. But a gently smile came over his face as he looked at them.
"This was when you met the other six grimm knights who weren't volunteers. And the first time someone showed you kindness"bane said which surprised then. But before they knew it he touched the memoeire as it transproted them into it. As he did the terror caught up to them growling in rage as he smacked a nearby wall.
"Dammit…guess i'll wait here for them to return"the terror said as it decided to wait for its prey.
All of them slowly opened their eyes from the bright light as they found themselves in what appears to be a hallway. This confused them for a moment as some looked toward bane who just stared at them.
"Okay i'd like for us not to spend alot of time here. Because we don't have all day"nebula said but paused as celeste pointed something out.
"Although if we can get intel on three more grimm knights. This memeorie will be benfeifcal"celeste said as they decided to watch the memeorie. But they were met by something just troubling that being a younger zane being escorted through the hall. Arthur was infront of him guiding him through a facility but a women was also with him. The women in question was sangie his handler, along with conri close by. Nebula glared seeing him again.
"Ughhh its the mutt. Let me guess he was his personally bodyguard or whatever"nebula said
"Nope. although that women from what i discuss with nez last night. After we did this yesterday. That women right their was your handler right?"celeste asked as zane hled his head for a moment as a flash went off. It showed sangie with a stun baton with a wicked grin on her face.
"S-she…she was…i..i..she'd beat me sometime..if i recall…she broke my arm one time"zane said trying to recall some memories that just came back from the women.
Vance went wide eeyd in rage as he immediately memroized her face"oh then next time i see her shes going to be in one hell of a beat down"he said cracking his knuckles.
"Same here because i really don't like her now"velvet said with hate
"Hope you find her. Heard from that bear faunus chick that she was that little uras you guys mentioned"celeste added which just made some of them despise this women. Even if they never met her. They watched the memorie play out as sangie kept shoving the younger zane forward every few moments.
"Keep moving brat or do i need to shock you again"sangie threatened making the little kid start picking up pace.
Conri laughed"seems the little one is scared….good soon enough he'll meet our future siblings"he said grinning showing his canine.
"Alpha calm yourself. Along with that the only reason were doing this is too keep an eye on all of them. Subject lota seems to be breaking soon"arthur said as he approached a keypad to a large metal door. He retrieved a keycard placing it in the card reader as it scanned it then it dinged telling him it opened. They watched as sangie started to move him forward as arthur talked to someone.
"Good evening subjects. Today we have fantasciat news your all getting another sibling."arthur stated as someone spoke up. But they couldn't see them since the memories held them here.
"Oh so what you turned someone else into a monster you viel bastard"a male voice could be heard. Conri laughed stepping forward into the doorway grabbing the little kid then he threw him into the room. They got transproted into a white padded room it seems as they stared at the door.
"You can say that meet our youngest sibling omega"conri said as they all looked behind them in shock. They all stared to see six people standing their in patient gowns and pants. But three of their faces were obseucred by shadows. While three of them weren't that being diego taupe, aarne crowley, melissa bines.
"Whoa i…i guess this was worth visiting"nebula said in shock seeing these people with grimm like features. But all of six people had shocked looks but one sat in a corner talking to himself like a crazy person resembling a teryx. Sangie noticed their shock as she laughed at them.
"What? Surprised to see a little kid become one of you. you play nice now"sangie said taunting them as she closed the doors on them. They expected for them to attack him but something else happened.
"You..you gotta be kidding me. Their taking kids off the streets now"Aarne said shocked as feather molted off her. A man who seemed to resemble a centinel but he had large metal cuffs on his hands restraininng him in place.
"It appears so. They don't care who they take to do these sick experiments on"he said calmly.
"m-m-monster…..go away….don't eat me"the younger zane cried balling up in fear. Melissa just backed up hearing that comment as she slowly approached him.
"Its okay….were not going to hurt you"meliisa said but they all noticed the lancer stinger on her arm which looked graft on. But the little kid became even more scared retreating a nearby corner in fear. A women with wyvern wings just scoffed at them all right now.
"We don't have time for this. We all need to escape remember leave the dam kid alone"she stated with earned a shove from melissa who pointed her stinger at her throat.
"Shut up. For starters i know we all need to escape this hellhole. But hes a little kid…his family proably worried about him."melsisa saldy said as her wings buzzed around.
The younger zane sniffed crying still"the…scary dog…told me mommy and foxy are dead. And my uncle and cousins sold me"he cried which just made vance go wide eyed hearing that come from his cousin mouth.
"That…z we would never do that. Auntie and zoey are alive…did..did they tell you that?"vance asked as he regrettable nodded. But soon the memeorie it showed diego just cautiously approach the crying child. The sabyr knight gently placed a hand on him as he flinched but he just rubbed his head.
"That terrible to hear little one. But don't be afraid were not monsters"diego reassured the little kid who stop shaking slightly but just hugged himself still crying quietly.
"I wanna go home"he softly said as the sabyr knight just took a spot next to him with an upset look.
Diego chuckled ruffling his head slightly"well with you being here our numbers reached seven. Maybe you'll be lucky since you seem normal unlike our ugly muggs"diego joked slightly which casued some to groan. But the younger zane just lunged for a hug as the man accepted it.
Soon enough the memeorie ended putting them back in the hall of memeorie. But they won't expect the deadly foe they'll encounter.
It seems that some of the knights of grimm were once normal though this trip down memory lane of trauma might dig up terrible things. While it also seems that we got some backstory for leon and naca who family was responsible for the unseen eye. Thanks for reading till next chapter!
