Chapter 25:Hearing Voices
It was soon a new morning over the anima as the sun shined over the entire forested valley as the birds chirps their morning tweets and songs to signal it being morning. Although right now the first to stire awake was raven. As she stood up from her bed as her hair was let down, walking to nearby mirror.
The women began to grab a handful of her hair before grabbing a red bandana and began to tie her hair into its usually hairstyle for the day. She gave a proud nod looking in the mirror before looking toward her guest.
That being a sleeping weiss all nuzzled up against falk who had an arm wrapped around her as her tail curled around her. The women shook her head before nudging the two awake to start their morning.
"Get up you two, we got alot of work ahead of us today"raven said as the two teens slowly woke up before both their eyes shot open. Then they eyed each other quickly separating from each other mad blushing right now.
"I..um..uh..i..you saw nothing"weiss screeched heavily embarrassed as her tail wagged in a fluid motion.
"I swear to god if you start teasing us….i'll ram my ship in the middle of the camp"falk warned as all she gave was a small chuckle at that threat.
"I've had alot more worse threats than that."raven replied walking behind a changing blind with her clothes in hand beginning to get change. As falk averted his gaze because he had eyes for one person that being weiss. But as she got changed weiss was rather curious.
"Oh really and whats worse than someone threatening to ram a ship at you"weiss asked and got something unexpected.
"That next time they see me. That they'll feed me to a swarm of pirrahs while my kid watches"raven casually replied not even phazed by saying it. Which caught the two slightly offguard which made weiss think about her teammate. She was curious how yang would react to her new tail probably do some stupid pun or joke to annoy her.
But for blake she might be even surprised by the sudden appendage she got maybe even teach her how to be like a faunus. Which verona and some others volunteered to do with her current look. While ruby she might want to pet it for being fluffy.
"Huh never expected that though i've had my few fair share of death threats. Heck i even pissed off mis walker one time"falk annouced as raven was getting done chuckling recalling that women.
"Oh her, you know she did go to beacon a long time ago. Surprisingly she was partner with the ex white fang leader sienna khan"raven replied
"Really? Well that not surprising it seems everyone know someone. Though….what are we going to do?"weiss asked getting behind the changing blind. She removed her pajams leaving herself in her undergarments with a hole in the back for her new tail. Which revealed a icy blue lacy panty and bra set. As she started to get dressed for the day raven pondered that for a moment.
While she did falk walked around before suddenly he banged his foot against something hard as he went wide eyed.
"Gah! I just stubbed my toe on something hard what the heck!"falk whined sitting on the bed rubbing his sore foot. Weiss peeked out in the process of putting her coat on before something metal clanks to the ground. She slipped her coat on before noticing what was on the ground a certain case with a rose embossed on it.
"Hey thats ruby symbol"weiss said catching falk attention eyeing it. Raven eyed it sighing picking the case up holding it in her hands just staring at it right now. As it was quiet falk was curious.
"So…uh that woudln't happen to be summer rose weapon i'm guessing?"he asked
Raven nodded"it was would you like to see it?"she asked as the two thought for a moment nodding. She opened the box revealing something inside that being a black and gold axe. The axe had a long axe handle colroed black, with gold metal attached to it, forming a gold curved blade. Near the axe blade is a trigger for the weapon, seeming to serve as a rifle, the stock swivels around, parrallel for the blade to extend.
Raven ran her fingers on the weapon as it felt like someone was still with her even though she can't find her. Falk was in awe of the weapon knowing one person might like to see that again.
"Seems that she still holding that on for her. I should still keep that promise to that women maybe tell em after havan is over with"Falk thought
"Is that rubys mom old weapon?"weiss added
"Yes,sundered rose. She would cut down any grimm that would stand in her way. Even during our time at beacon i found it funny how someone so small could lug this thing around"raven said before placing it back in the case then slide it back under her bed for safe keeping.
"So…what exactly is our plan today?"falk asked in the process of getting dressed himself right now since he brought some clothes from yesterday to get dressed. That was a conundrum because for starters she didn't know what to do right now. The first would be to figure out where vernals base was then plan a counter attack against her.
Though another part of raven wanted to go search for lazuli,jay and adam to see if they survived their fall. If their lucky they might have washed up on a shoreline down a stream though it was slim. Along with that she was curious about morgan if she had any answers for them.
"First off get dressed and eat something, then we head off to the medical tent. We talk to morgan to see if shes awake"raven ordered since their was some food already brought waiting for them outside the tent. Quickly eating their fill they got dressed and got their weapons.
As they walked throughout the camp for a good while they soon arrived at the medical tent. Already waiting for them was dravan with someone else a very worried verona. As the women kept pacing around like crazy as he was trying to calm his wife down right now.
"Come on now dear I know your worried about my niece. I'm alot more worried than you but don't worry she'll be alright."dravan reassured but she wasn't having it.
"Can you not try to tell me to calm down. How can i calm down because now my niece might be dead or…or…"she didn't want to finish that thought until one person came to the rescue. That being lee who shook his head.
"Hey bat ears chill out because don't make me do what we did to you as kids"lee warned as raven walked over laughing at that recalling that she freaked out over small things. As raven walked over grabbing verona before scratching behind the women ears.
Verona bluhsed slihglty before her ears flopped over in pure bliss as raven kept scratching behind her ear for a good few minutes. Until the women ears completely flopped over in bliss.
"Are you doing better now?"raven asked as verona blushed huffing slightly crossing her arms.
"I am….seriosuly i'm sorry i'm stressed out. You don't know how stressful it is to think what vernal is probably doing to my niece. Because seriously she was always butting heads with you"verona said
Weiss hummed at that moment"well she might also be mad for eria socking her across the jaw with her bat"she reminded but realzied her mistake which made her start to worry.
"Ah. don't talk like that because i rather not have my snowy niece be tortured. That women better not hurt a hair on her or she'll mess with me"dravan growled flexing his one hand at that moment.
Lee crossed his arm chcukling"i'll probably join yah though you want a quick explanation with what i ran into yesterday?"he asked as they all nodded. Then he sat on a nearby tree stump scratching his chin recalling what happened.
"Alright so we get their like i said we got ambushed. Though thing is its….like they knew we were their. Jumped us like they were waiting for us"lee said which caught dravan attention.
"So what morgan said before she passed out was true….we might have a spy in our midst"dravan backed up which surprised them though this seemed to worry lee at that moment. He kept a calm look but internally he cursed because if that women wakes up it'll be one big problem.
Raven held her head sighing"so my theory was correct. It was rather strange how we kept getting our caravans and patrols hit lately. Alright look lets check on morgan to see if she up maybe she can identify her attacker"she said as they stepped inside which made lee worried at that moment.
Once inside the tribe healers trained with their medical knowledge where hard at work treating any injured they had. As they had their makeshift beds out with a few people with bandages wrapped around various body part. Along with some seeming sick from the look of it since they seemed rather exhausted.
But once they were inside already their inside was mai who was in the process of scolding someone at that moment. That being haru who was laying in a bed at that moment with a cold rag over her head right now.
"Dang it haru i thought my husband told you to take a break for the next couple days. The oprahgne will be fine without you for a few days"mai scolded.
Haru looked down in shame"i..i know but i just want to help out…i*cough* everyone relying on me right now"She argued with another small coughing fit. Which worried weiss because that seems to be getting worse and worse lately. Which made her wonder if they might lose their spring maiden already.
Raven was worried as well walking over"what happened? I thought i told you to take the week off until we head off to havan"She growled slightly as she looked down with even more shame as mai decided to answer.
"Well i was dropping my kids off at the daycare. Though when i got their haru was working again as i tired to get her to go back to her tent. She collapsed on the ground after puking her guts out"mai replied to their surprise.
"Kid i gotta agree with rae. That aint sounding pretty good you need to rest to regain your strength. Worse thing to kill yah is a fever"lee supported as haru coughed again for another coughing fit panting for air. Which seemed to worry raven imenosuly right now sitting on her bedside before removing the rag then placed a fresh one from a nearby pan that soaked. Then placed it on her head.
"Why don't you rest, i'll have ryuu come by later to visit you. Maybe have some of the staff here make something to help your fever"she advised as she reltned slowly closing her eyes passing out.
They continued their way as mai joined them as they stepped into one part of the tent. That being charlie who was just finishing up with morgan who had a bandaged around her stained in crimson red. But she was passed out with a heart rate monitor connected to her. They have a bit of modern tech here to treat anyone along with a blood bag to give her back the blood she lost.
"How she doing doc?"falk qeustioned as charlie placed a bottle of medicine down as he then removed his gloves placing them on a tray.
"Well for starters right now she suffered a serious concussion. She woke up momentarily and i did ask her who attacked her"charle replied which peeked their interest but lee was rather worried if he might be found out.
"Oh really? Did she tell you who the spy was?"mai questioned but he had bad news
"No she seemed to have a hard time remembering things. Probably from that concussion i suggest she get some rest until tomorrow. Hopefully she'll be fine enough for more questioning to see who our so called spy is"charile answered to lee relief as he sighed
"That troublesome although…i have a suggestion"lee announced getting their attention at that moment.
"And what would that be? Integrate everyone in camp to see if one of them is the spy which will be pretty hard in my opinion"falk asked but he had another suggestion in mind.
"Well i'm just going to spitball this….what if someone in the council is our spy"lee said to their confusion as they were about to argue but surpsignly raven spoke up.
"That….might be true the only ones who know of where most caravans and our patrols are would be the council. Along with that i have been rather…suscipious of a few people in camp right now."raven admitted
"So your saying someone on the council could be a traditor. I know it one of us because for starters we've known each other for years."verona replied
Mai hummed at that for a moment"well heres an idea why don't you guys organize the troops. While some of us investigate the other council members. That being lilu and ryuu"mai suggested as it didn't sound half bad.
Lee laughed wrapping an arm around her pulling her in"you got your mom brains to yah kid. Hell maybe after all this is done maybe we should add you to the council"he stated to her shock
"Wait…really? I've never really thought about taking it up since my uh mom spot has been vacant for the last six years."mai replied as raven shook her head
"Maybe it depends on how successful you are here. I'll be busy trying to organzie my warriors for an attack on vernals camp. Along with sending my scouts around the valley to search for her. good luck"raven said walking off with verona, dravan along with lee joining them. The three exited the tent as midney was their waiting for them as she smiled at mai.
"Oh sup mom, you checking up on dad in their"midney suddenly said
"Yeah she was haru collapsed and….wait what did you just say? Did you just call her mom?"falk questioned confused pointing at the women as they eyed him down for a bit.
Mai chuckled at his reaction"yeah she is though uh more like adopted since i knew her parents when i was younger."she answered to their surprise as weiss figured out why she had such a strong resemblance to one person maybe that why lazuli hung around her alot in the last week.
But quickly making sure they were out of earshot mai moved them to her tent as dan and iris weren't their right now. As they did she quickly doubled checked to make sure the coast was clear at that moment.
"Alright so why did you drag us in here?"midney asked pointing at her.
"I think i know why. Because we might need some extra help to find a spy"weiss replied as they quickly explained to her of a possible spy in their midst which the girl was caught offguard by hearing they could have a spy.
"So auntie tasked you guys to see if their a spy…in the council. No way that can be true especially with those two they seem fine with the way we run things"midney argued but mai sighed at hearing that.
"Not always back then lilu butted heads with rae and qrow for doing this. She wasn't all for it at first but seems fine with it now. The same goes for ryuu the guy used to be a spy himself actually. Back then we'd sent people to pose as villagers. Then well…"she didn't finish as they knew what she meant.
"Raid the place. That might make him prime suspect number one though we should split up to complete out task. I'm going with snow angel"falk said pulling weiss over who blushed at that but midney pulled the girl away from him.
"Nah she can go with me because i want more juicy deets on blondie. When she gets here i'm going to have fun messing with her"midney cooed as they didn't argue. As the two split off into groups to figure out if these two were their spies within their midst. Along with saving their friends.
Although at the bandit camp right now eria was having a rather nice sleep right now. Though as she was sleeping soon enough she was awaken by something. That being a cold splash of water on her face as she was wide eyed letting out a surprised breath of air as she now finally got to recall where she was. That being the dingy looking cell as light shined into the place which showed it mainly being mud along with a few wooden beams placed inside the dirt as makeshift and terrible cots.
But the others were all awake at that moment as emerald seemed rather annoyed at what happened. Along with bashira groaning loudly knowing what time it was already.
"Great…guess its time for that this morning"bashira siad
"What would that be exactly?"Eria coldy asked until the clanking of metal could be heard, peering up it was shay. As he had four bandits with automatic weapons with one brandishing a shotgun.
"That being supper now get up slaves, because your getting your gurb then your getting back to work"shay ordered which eria didn't like at all. All of them without question got up as shay stepped inside.
"Alright now up against the wall gotta do a pat down to see if your hiding any weapon"shay ordered as most of them placed themselves against the wall. All except for eria who sat their with an annoyed look.
"Uhhh sorry to say this but she doens't have a leg. Which kinda makes it hard"emerald jabbed as the bandit scoffed. Then snapping his fingers one stepped inside with her prosthetic leg as he bent down placing it against her metal slot clipping it into place. Though his hand was rather close as she could've sworn he groped her leg.
"Alright legs in place now get up"the bandit said as she did as emerald was caught offguard but smiled seeing that right now. They all got patted down though as bashira was getting patted down shay was doing it as he squeezed her by the hips making her growl slightly.
"Try that again asshole and i'll break your jaw"bashira said pushing him away which made him scowl slightly. Then quickly he pulled out a stun baton before jabbing her in the side lighting her up in electricity as she fell to the ground panting heavily in pain right now.
"Don't talk back to your master, now get up and head to supper then your heading back to work. "Shay said as they finished the pat down as all of them escorted out of the cell but with their hands tied together at that moment by rope. Once outside eria eyes hurt but got a better look at the base seeing the sheer number that vernal amazed. It seemed to rival ravens forces even.
Though they were quickly escorted to where some other captives where with bandits surrounding them. As they were forced to sit down as they soon where handed their meal that being a piece of beard with some fish. Shay left them with the bandits in tow as they all began to eat. But the entire time eria kept glaring at one person that being emerald as they all noticed it.
"So…uh you gonna keep giving me a death glare"emerald asked nerouvsly biting into her piece of fish.
Tock munched on her for a moment chewing then swallowing it as it tasted rather terrible.
"Yeah kid because from what i heard last night. Apparently you and this girl over here got beef with each other from the sound of it"tock asked as the cold girl growled at that acquisition.
"Oh i'm going to be mad that my own sister ran away. To go kill people in the name of our friends and our leader"eria growled in anger at her as emerald looked down eating her food. Bashira narrowed her gaze.
"Okay is that why you guys convinced those sisters and me to come along with you. Let me guess that jaune guy and his team was apart of it"bashira questioned which made eria wonder is jaune out for revenge. Because she saw how happy him and pyrrha were together. Along with being very close with zane at their time at beacon, she hoped she can fill his shoes.
Tock blinked for a moment"alright i would be pissed off too seriously kid you forced her to go on what some revenge quest"she asked
"Not exactly…look we all thought about it but i really just wanted to get payback for cinder. "Emerald said
Eria growled at her making her flinch"oh really? Then you shoudln't have made her go…our team already lost one person. I rather not lose my twin sister, that dumb clown already gone but he made me team leader. And i intend to keep my sister and partner safe in honor of his name"she said with pride as tock laughed at that.
"Oh really who would that be exactly?"she asked in mid bite as eria looked away at that moment closing up on it. Which made the faunus guess it was a rather sensitive topic right now.
"Never mind actually though…aren;t you one of the hayley heiress. Your probably going to be lucky being here"tock diverted the topic.
"Why is that exactly?"eria coldy asked
Bashira sighed placing a hand on her chin"because we've been forced to work in the mines. They keep making us work their all day to mine dust for them along with any ores in the nearby mountain"she said as her hands had blistered on them slightly.
"Yeah its been brutal…at least you aint in their fighting pits. They'd set you up against that guy"emerald said gesturing to someone far off.
The girl eyes sank seeing someone who stood at a whooping eight feet tall made of pure muscle as he had very tan skin. Along with only wearing a pair of shaolin monk pants colored deep intense blue. Along with having a long chinese pony tail colored black. As he was eating a larger portion of food but sharing them with his fellow captives.
"That guy over their name is zaff by the way"tock added
"Alright that isn't threatening at all. He could rival my partner size even"eria said scared a little.
"No doubt. But the guy seems all nice though their making him be their entertainment. Who every pisses the guards off they throw them in with him. Most of the time he tries to take it easy but if he does. They uh punish his kid"bashira explained which hurt eria hearing that someone being forced to fight to protect their child. Which she found honorable slightly they soon had a loud airhorn blare as they covered their ears.
Eria rubbed her very sore ears"what the heck does that mean?"she asked as all the captives were getting up as several bandits stepped forward.
"We gotta go for our shift. Let head out"emerald said as they were being guided away but shay stepped forward before taking eria away from them which worried her and them. The man guided her through the camp as they reached a very large tent.
Once inside their was already a small table their with vernal sitting their waiting right now like she was expecting her it seems.
"Brought her for yah boss"shay said before forcing eria to sit down as he stood on guard near the exit. The two sat in silence for a moment as vernal had a small flask in hand unscrewing it taking a sip of it. Then stopped glancing at her offering her some.
"Want some liquor kid…might make those lips of yours loose"vernal said
Eria knew what this was she wanted to gain intel on the camp from her, she won't have it.
"I'm not going to tell you anything you know right"eria coldy and smugly said earning a glare.
"Alright you little brat. For starters the only reason your here is because i would like nothing more than to kill you for what you did to me a week ago. But daddy won't be happy to see you damaged, damaged goods aren't the best. Because after i'm done here by killing raven then her brother, and including her stupid daughter and niece."vernal replied
"Then i'll return our tribe to what my father and forefathers intended it for. A life of raiding, pilaging, and murdering anyone whos weak in our way"she added but then her expression became sour.
"Though i've heard things about you. How you were on a team with a grimm knight, must have been the one to take your leg"she taunted earning a growl from her.
"He didn't cut it off…try some psycho girl with a slit mouth named rosemary."eria popped back. Vernal delivered a punch to the right side of her face as it was hard enough to send her to the ground hard but not before placing her boot on her head.
"Listen here you little shit. I'm going to enjoy picking you apart piece by piece. Finding whatever makes you tick until you beg for me to stop or beg for mercy to become my little slave then i won't end you. Which even works for me either way i sell you keep you as a hostage. Daddy supplies me with a shipment of weapons"vernal said a sinister grin on her face.
Eria said nothing at first but then she…chuckled which made vernal growl at her.
"Whats so funny? Are you going to welcome death?"she growled at her.
"I've faced far more worse thing than you. A grimm knight, the fall of beacon, even my leg being torn off…i'm rather resilient. Anything you do to me is nothing compared with sparring against the champion of sanctum pyrrha nikos"eria said not even flcining.
"Oh. is that so? Whatever will i do"vernal said almost mocking eira. She began to think a moment of what to do to her victim. Siddnely a thought came to mind as she looked outside at one of their cells with a giant metal door, not bars or windows as she smirked.
"Any phobias you developed lately?"she asked smuggly. And just like that the confidence on eria face faded
"I mean everyone got their very own phobia. Something traumatizing from your lose of limp i'm sure. I know lets make it a guessing game of what your phobia could be"she started
"Afraid of spider. No that not it you look like you woudln't even care. Afraid of drowning…no i highly doubt that. Tight spaces…no that not it either"she began as if she was trying to get a reaction of her.
"How about the dark with no light sources"vernal asked mockingly. Eria eyes widden ever so slightly even though she didn't say anything that was what vernal wanted to see as she grinned evily.
"Ah there it is. Just what i guessed. Your afraid of the dark aren't you. How cute like a little child"vernal replied
"N-no" eria stuttered not liking where this is going as vernal removed her foot from her head.
"Lets test that then shall we. take her to solitary confifnement leave her their for tonight"vernal ordered as shay grabbed her dragging her by the leg toward the hatch as she followed as the bandits close by laughed pointing at her.
Then once they got over their shay forcefully removed her prosthetic leg before removing her ropes around her wrist. He opened the hatched and much to her fear it was rather dark like it went into the darkness pits of the world. Without a second thought vernal shvoed her down as she landed hard on the ground.
The moment she slammed the door shut to her dismay fear was already sinking in of her fear of the dark. Without another second fear took affect as she tried to find any type of light source.
"Let me out!"she cried out dragging her way trying to climb up but their was no stairs or ladder. She just scratched at the dirt panicking right right now taking rapid breaths.
Vernal was loving every second of her cry for help. Every sound, every cry only made her smile more. Vernal walked over to the hatch a wicked smile on her face.
"Get comfy down their kid. Cause you'll be in their until tonight which is….twelve hours from now"vernal said softly making her claw harder in the dirt as she walked away from her.
Eventually eria lost the strength to claw at the dirt to dig her way out as she slumped down to what she thinks is the ground as she was curling up into a ball. She had tears running down her face as memories of that time being trapped in a pantry came back. Along with wondering how weak she was.
"Please…someone….help…rogue….onxyia….zane…anyone please help"eria choked out as she cired not sure what to do.
Unknown to anyone on a nearby ridgeline was oscar who peered inside the base with some binnocualrs shocked at what he was seeing right now. As ozpin himself was rather surrpsied it seemed at who he saw down below.
"I can't believe this is even here….what is all this"oscar thought to himself.
"I believe this might be an enemy of ravens. Seems her tribe has split we should find her quickly. Because it seems miss benekei, miss hayley and miss susarti are here. Very interesting"ozpin said as they did just that as he got back on his horse sneakily stepping away from the place
Meanwhile over where yang and the others were right now. They were walking through the woods right now being escorted as with his hands tied right now was adam. Who found it rather annoying but understood why.
Right now leading them through the woods was bert who had wilt in his hands at that moment. While yang had her guanlents but it only had enough ammo for sixteen shots, she needed to use it sparingly. Luckily lazuli had enough for her crossbow bolts as roxy held a small cleaver in her hands. Saxon had nothing as he just kept complaining swatting at bugs.
While lazuli and yang carried jay on the makeshift stretcher with the sleeping bag underneath him as he slept soundly on it.
"Can you imbeciles hurry up because do you know how important i am?"saxon asked to their annoyance
"Hey guess what…you hear that?"yang asked placing her hand over her ear as they stood their for a moment as the chirping of birds in the distance could be heard but their was absolutely nothing.
"I don't hear anything girl"saxon growled as she smirked
"Thats because no one cares about your complaining get used to being in the woods for another day or two."yang sarcastically said making them laugh at the man for a moment as he became very irritated by her antics.
"I'm going ahead you cretins can be here and act childish. Once this is over i'll sue you all into oblivion"Saxon said getting infront of the group now pouting now as he was still relatively close. As he got far enough roxy sighed in relief.
"Finally he realized that no one wanted him around us thank god"she said
Lazuli chuckled"You seemed to really hate that guy"she pointed out as the girl growled with a look of rage across her face right now. Which they all noticed immediately as adam eyed down saxon for a moment guessing from his appearance he might be from the upper class.
"I take it you have a personal grudge against him"Adam asked
Roxy looked down on the verge of tears right now hugging herself before picking up pace herself. Which confused the two newcomers of this group a little right now as bert sighed stretching his arms until they popped.
"Whats up with her? Because she looked ready to cry when she asked why she hated him"lazuli aksed because she had a good reason.
Yang scoffed"she got a good reason to. Like i do for hating this guy over here for taking my girlfriend arm who i'm still happy to hear is alive"she said as adam looked hurt which bert noticed tapping his chin.
"Guess this guy hurt about that girl you mentioned kid. What you two used to date"bert asked as the bull faunus sighed
"We used to be in a relationship. Though we;ve known each other much longer actually"adam replied peeking yang interest a little.
"Oh let me guess you met her when you just a little kid"yang smugly asked as he understood why shes being smug to him.
Though much to her surprise he actually spoke"it was…slow at start i was welcomed into ghira home as offered ollie to stay in his. Blake and onxyia knew each other for years, he even treated me like his own son. I did eventually become friends with jazmine and xander, declans and katherine youngest"he said making lazuli go wide eyed.
"Oh crap. I totally forgot my dad hide those guys out in that safehouse when they defected."lazuli said smacking her face
"Defected? Who else defected other than me"adam asked intrigued now hearing their were more defectors as she thought for a moment.
"That being him, a bunch of others and actually two of your enforcers believe it or not. Told me they planned to meet with someone named ilia"lazuli answered as the bull laughed at that slightly.
"Whats so funny?"yang asked annoyed
"Nothing…surprised trifa and yuma would leave. Though hearing that they've planned to meet ilia my guess akasha was with them. If i recall that wolf hooked those two up"he answered
Yang though had one question because she might as well ask since she knows a bit about blake. But might as well dig into this ex of her before she punches him to with every inch of his life when they get back to her mom and her tribe.
"Alright heres a question….how did you date my kitty"yang asked smugly making him internally laugh at that, he called her darling her nickname suited her more.
"Well…we got paired up for a mission for the high leader and well…she saved my life against some mercenaeris that thought we;d be simple game for them. I'm not sure how i felt an attraction toward blake. We got paired up more and more to handle missions and soon the white fang thought we were a couple. Even jazmine kept teasing us about it"adam said trailing off
"Let me guess you feel guilty for giving the orders to decimate a village that costed her to lose her leg"yang growled but he gave a different answer,
"Actually no…ollie actually suggested we conduct a raid. Back then i took his words to heart but now…i despise that lying bastard"adam said with venom on everyword as yang didn't really believe him. But part of her told her to believe him for some reason maybe giving him the benefits of the doubt.
"Oh really? Then what changed between you and my girlfriend jerk"yang spat
"Me. my hatred for humanity corrupted me and blake knew it. She found an escape and fled…no i drove her away because of my actions and theirs nothing to do to fix that spark. All i hope for is to fix our friendship."he continued before closing his one eye.
"That maybe i shouldn't have listened to ollie for so long. He even tried to give the order to send assassin after her and oxnyia. I told him not to but some were sent after her…he told me they were rogues. That was another lie"he finished with a shameful look as yang took that in for a moment. She still really didn't trust him but groaned punching him slightly in the side as he stumbled but returned to holding the stretcher.
"Okay so what that stupid jerk lied to you. Although…i wonder how wolf ears is holding up"yang suddenly said to adam confusion.
"What are you talking about?"adam asked as lazuli began to laugh for a moment before wiping a tear away.
"Oh she just worried because she was dating my cousin. Heard those two shared a bed back in beacon from princes ice queen. Man i wish i could…"lazuli trailed off before looking very gloomy which they noticed immediately.
Yang didn't take that into account because it slipped her mind they were adoptive cousin. It must be tearing her along with eria right now she guessing since that girl was made team leader.
"Hey look you don't gotta continue. I miss the guy too along with pyrrha and….heck everyone else. Sis was really hurt hearing they all were gone"yang said
"Hey it hurts when someone gone. But you move past it eventually though roxy seems still hurt about her brother being killed"bert said catching their attention.
"Oh thats terrible. What happened to him"adam asked softly showing sympathy before he pointed toward the culrpit ahead of them that being saxon catching them offguard right now. They wondered what the heck did he do.
"That…that guy killed her brother but yet hes still traveling with you guys"lazuli asked digsuted
They caught up with roxy who scoffed at that"he didn't exactly kill him…but he pretty much did. Shoving him down to save his own ass from that thing thats been chasing us for the past few days"she said mentioning that thing again which confused them.
"What are you…"adam was stopped before suddenly something called out to them.
"Somebody! Someone please help me i'm trapped!"a male voice called out close by which caught their attention immediately. Immediately they began to quietly investigate it as saxon joined with them again. Sneaking their way through the bushes they soon found something.
That being a man on the ground sitting down as his leg appeared to be stuck in a bear trap. As he kept calling out for help every few seconds crying in pain.
"Oh crap…think he might be one of vernals guys?"lazuli whispered
"No clue though weird how no one else is with him. Maybe another escapee a few of us did get separated when we escaped"bert whispered but adam decided they might as well inveistgate who it is.
"We should see who they are maybe question him. They might know where vernal camp is which will be valuable intel"he said about to get up but quickly yang pulled him back noticing something as he fell back.
"What are you doing blondie?"lazuli whispered before she shushed them then pointed to somewhere.
That being five bandits walking down toward the man with their weapons out at the ready. All of them carrying automatic weapons with a couple of them carrying swords or spears. As they walked forward they stayed down avoiding any unnecessary fighting at that moment as they stepped forward.
One bandit laughed"oh man this is too easy….looks like one of our escapees got trapped. Anything to say?"she asked pointing her gun at him as something weird happened.
"Someone please anyone please help me!"he called out again to their confusion especially lazuli guessing shock. But this felt weird because he wasn't moving at all. The bandits looked confused until one stepped forward pulling the man to face them.
"Hey buddy no ones going to come save…"he stopped before they noticed one thing about the man. That his entire face along with most of the front part of his bodie was torn to shred along with pieces of his ribcage being exposes. Roxy gaged holding back her puke swallowing it in disgust.
A couple bandits gaged from the sight as well as they all backed up confused for a moment. Until suddenly one noticed the bushes moving close by backing up in complete fear at that very moment as something was coming.
"Crap…crap..crap its the wendgio run!"the bandits shroud as they were about to make their escape but something lurched from the nearby woods snatching two of them away quickly as they screamed for a bit until they stop. They all stayed silent for moment as the bandits kept searching for any sign of this grimm. Until two more were picked off just like that until the last one remained before starting to spray and pray around the places.
The bullet whizzed by them almost hitting bert in the head as he sighed in relief. Until finally the man was stopped as something pounced ontop of him. That being a humanoid looking creature with a black body. With long limbs and long sharp claws to slash anything. Its body looked severely malunutried as its ribcaged showed slightly but its teeth had was very long and sharp. As its eyes were sunken in glowing orange hidden behind a giant dear skull like mask. With one long scar across its chest that looked very old.
"What the hell is that"lazuli whispered in terror.
"That would be whats been chasing us for the past few days. The wendigo"yang answered quietly as the wendigo roared before opening its maw tearing into the man head completely tearing it off. Then in one instance swallowed it whole as roxy covered her mouth to make sure it doens't hear them.
But as they sat their for a bit soon enough jay began to have a coughing fit as it caught them by surprise. It alerted the creature of their presence as quickly bert decided to tear adam biding off.
"Grab the kid and run for it!"bert shouted as they emerged from their spot booking it following him as the wendigo howled signaling the chase. They began to quickly sprint through the woods for what felt like minutes, hours even at that moment.
"God dammit i knew we should have let that filth behind. Drop him maybe he can be useful for something"saxon ordered earning a glare form adam.
"How about we leave behind you faunus hating bastard. This boy has a family back home and i'm not letting him die"adam firmly said as the snob scoffed at that. As yang for some reason found it strange how caring the guy was for faunus.
After some time they soon reached a set of wooden stairs built into the side of a cliff.
"Alright quickly up here once were up their cut those ropes of their. It'll have to go around"bert said as they quickly made their way up the stairs. But as they did as roxy stepped on one step as they all piled at the top her leg went through as her leg got stuck. They all noticed this.
"Crap here i'll help you"lazuli said beginning to pull her to free her along with yang help. But saxon eyed the nearby rope before pulling out a pocket knife before he started to cut away at it. As he did the wendigo caught up howling jumping up at them missing as roxy yelped in fear.
"Please…please don't leave me behind…i don't wanna die"Roxy cried out.
Yang grunted"we aint letting that happen hold on tight!"she replied as they yanked hard enough to free her. But as roxy got to the top the stairs began to creak tipping forward as adam eyed saxon cutting the rope. Lazuli quickly got up but yang began to fall back slightly stumbling.
"No!"adam shouted before placing jay down jumping forward as he offered a hand. Yang was falling down but quickly jumped up grabbing it taking it as he pulled her up. Once up the stairs fell down onto the wendigo trapping it for now as it growled howling to be released. But yang panted surprised he even saved her, though adam just glared at one person as they might need to get rid of one person in their little group.
Well seems that raven tasked the others to find this so called traditor in their group of two possible suspects. While haru seems to be doing worse now with that fever of hers. Along with eria being toremneted with her fear of the dark while we met the new grimm known as the wendigo! Thanks for reading!
