Chapter 26:trauma resurfaced
Early though over in the business district cardin and his group were hard at work dealing with the grimm in their section. A beowolf went flying through the air as cardin swung his mace launching it into the air. Gwen quikly threw her knives into its lowr stomach kill it vnaishing in the winds.
"Excellent work you two"tulip complemented as cardin offered a high five as gwen shrugged her shoulder returning it.
"Well we've had an easy time dealing with the grimm in this section"gwen said in confidence.
"Hey don't get too over confident kid. It can end up killing you more grimm are porbably around"trifia warned with her knife out at the ready.
Gwen flnched slightly recalling the last time she got overconfident it ended up with her losing an arm.
"Your…your right…just saying this is going by quick. Wonder how the others are doing"gwen replied as they began to continue walking forward.
"Don't know but from where we are right now. Were close to a small line of stores."tia mentioned as she turned a corner toward it.
"Alright maybe their we can search for some supplies along the way. Might be something useful"tulip suggested bringing her rifle up at the ready. They quickly got in a small formation with cardin at the front, trifa guarding the back. While gwen had three knives out in each hand at the ready. Both tia and tulip kept their weapons trained on the nearby rooftops or stores that were smashed to pieces.
They kept walking for maybe about five minutes until they didn't run into any grimm which was strange. But soon enough as they venture forward into the business dirsrict something was bugging cardin. Mainly trifa for some reason like he wanted to ask her something.
"So uh trifa right?"cardin asked as she nodded at him.
"What up kid? Let me guess your gonna ask me if i'm single"trifa jokingly replied as he shook his head.
"No i got a girlfriend. I just got a question you were apart of the white fang for a long time right?"cardin asked which got the other interested slightly.
"Look if you wanna disucss this lets duck into a nearby store to discuss this. Rather not get jumped by some grimm"tulip stated
They looked around for any stores that weren't completely destroyed until one caught gwen eye. A old music store that seemed like it was still intact as the windows weren't completely smashed in.
"How about that old music store. It could have something too boost everyone moral back at camp"gwen suggested as they nodded in agreement. They got over their quickly as they opened the door luckily it was unlock. The five quickly dukced inside as tia placed a chair infront of the door.
The inside of the music store looked completely ruined like several people went through here. Instruments lined the floor of the store torn to shred unable to play their wonderful tunes. But they all just sat down using whatever they can.
"Alright so back to your question early. Why do you wanna know?"trifa questioned cardin as they all decided to dig into some provision. Tulip handed them out as she ate a power bar. While gwen ate some jerky, cardin ate a snack bar along with tia. Trifa had a small bottle of water drinking it.
Cardin rubbed his neck because he had to ask about one thing, if she know who killed his dad.
"Look uh about five years ago my dad adler winchester. He was a governor in mistral well used to be the governor till mom took over"cardin sadly begun.
"Really? What did he get attacked by the white fang crippling him"gwen asked but a sad look came to his face as she realzied she might have hit a sour spot.
"Oh i'm sorry i didn't know i–"but he stoped her putting a hand up.
"Its alright you didn't know. Its just five year ago my dad had great ties with faunus back then. Back then he went to your island to drop some supplies off to a settlement struggling after a grimm attack. Though…appernelty white fang attacked them, then killed him."cardin continued then looked at trifa with a serious look in his eyes.
"Do you know who might have killed my dad?"cardin asked as the spider faunus studied him for a moment. To trifa she didn't even recall any raids in menagerie,Soon the spider faunus gave a answer confusing them.
"Kid we never conducted a raid on any ships on menagerie five years ago"trifa said to their confusion his especially.
Tia choked oh her water for a second pounding her chest hearing that. Because for starters she doens't believe her one bit.
"Bull crap. Your probably lying to us to save your own skin. Your probably the one that killed him since your adams persoanl enforcers along with yuma"tia said which got them all quiet for a moment. Then the women realzied her mistake as tulip eyed trifa along with gwen. The two placed their hands on their weapons as the spider faunus looked scared right now.
"Give us one good dam reason why we shouldn't arrest you on the spot right now"gwen said pulling a knife out pointing it at her throat. Tulip pulled out some handcuffs as she stood behind trifa ready to cuff her if need be. The spider faunus didn't like how they were acting but she sighed holding her head.
"Wanna know my reason…i served this cause thinking i could do something right for my people."Trifa begun as she pulled her glove up to reveal the web sacs on her wrist.
"Their are alot of faunus who have rare traits mine being that i'm a spider faunus. Even that chick with dual traits is a very special case. But i wanted to do something after seeing humans attack my kind like it was nothing."trifa begun as she stood up which made them react but she dropped her knife.
The spider faunus walked around caressing a nearby destroyed drumkit with an upset look. She only joined the white fang to try and do some good for her people. If it meant killing someone to get it so be it. But after spilling so much blood it started to make her sick, when that order came in. she coudln't bring herself to kill her own kind she wanted to run away.
"But after weaver gave the order to kill anyone who leave. I..i couldn't do it anymore…i needed to leave. We've already told you before but…this gonna sound crazy"trifa said trying to find the words.
"Oh really? Try us because the last few days have been pretty crazy so far"cardin reminded running into grimm hybrids, learning what makes them, killing a grimm knight and fianlly finding a dead freind alive.
The spider faunus exhaled to find the right words"the old highlander…tarrus he never wanted to any faunus to die. Actaully it was ollie who kept telling him that we should kill humans."she said which surpised them slightly. But it didn't really make them buy it tia especially because she dealt with them perosnlly. And it costed her girlfriend.
"And were suppose to believe you? My girlfriend died joining your dam cause because of those stupid fox brothers!"tia shouted but quiet enough to not draw any grimm. Trifa looked down hearing that hoping onto the counter rubbing her wrist. Then she fired a web retrieving her water bottle, then unscrewed the cap drinking knows they don't believe her for her guilt but part of her just wished for all this bloodshed to stop.
"I..i know you don't believe me…but those two were very close brothers even. After the night the construction incident happened ollies enforcers yenna and duke they told me and yuma. That if anyone leave we kill them, that jae girl she tried to leave."trifa begun ringing her hands together like crazy.
"Several of them did with our group but..but…one of them placed a gun in my hand. Telling me to kill her…i coudln't do it. I did it so many times but that time i coudlnt"trifa continued as some tears formed in her eyes which surprised tulip a little.
Trifa exhaled shaking now because she become disgusted with what she done for all faunus everywhere.
"I-instead…i shot duke then we ran to roman place. He told us he would hide us but after we escaped, yuma joined up soon after. But…that wolf girl and cat girl sort of gave us the push we needed. That the white fang needed to change"trfia finished with some tears escaping as she quickly composed herself wiping them away. They sat their for a bit taking in what they heard as tulip eyed her handcuffs placing them back into her pouch.
"From what i'm hearing you regret what you did. And if you are his enforcers…your heading to vacuo. "Tulip begun walking over placing a hand on her shoulder with a determined look.
"Make sure shade prepared for an attack. Let hope these kids can save havan academy. Work with those depsardos alright"she added
"Oh i plan on it…but as for your dad. Adam respected him for what he was doing he never sent anyone to kill him"trifa said to cardin shock that the now runaway leader of the whtie fang repsected his dad. His dad did treat fuanus like people he did too before he started to blame them for his death. Maybe when he gets to menagerie he does some digging on his dad deaths their.
"Alright i…thank for that…still feel like a jerk for how i treated faunus"cardin said decdiing to explore the store with gwen for a bit. But tia took her words in for a moment thinking about when she lost her girlfriend. It was about a couple years ago when she lost her to that protest and when she met her.
Flashback
About nine years ago in the city of vale walking the streets right now was a younger tia williams. She just turned twnety recently and now pursuing her career in boxing. Currently she was just coming back from a gym after a long pratice. It was hotter than usually in vale as she wiped her brow.
"Man its hot…seriously the weather didn't say anything about a sorcher"tia said to herself slipping her headphones on. She turned her music up playing some pop punk humming to the beat.
The passerby were minding their own business for the day. All of them trying to avoid passing out from the intense heat of the sun. but with her she was curious what today will bring, because she plans to head to that boxing tournament in a few days. She heard how a certain retired boxer might be their. She was in her own world humming to herself as she rounded a corner.
But as she did she bumped into someone knocking them to the ground as her headphone fell off. Tia landed square on her butt rubbing her ehad.
"Ahh that going to hurt in the morning"tia said annoyed for who bumped into her.
"Ow…uhh are you okay…i'm sorry i wasn't watching were i was going"a timid voice spoke up
Tia looked toward the voice to see a girl close to her age it seems she had bright blonde curly hair. Along with a pair of light blue eyes. The women was wearing a pair of black jeans paired with a cyan colored long sleeves shirt. She wore a pair of simple brown shoes. Though ontop of her head was a pair of ram horns for her faunus trait. But a drink was on her head that soaked her shirt slightly presenting her bust.
Tia blushed slightly"oh uh no problem here let me help you up. Your all good"tia said helping the faunus up.
"Thanks though uh i'm so sorry here take my wallet"the women said presenting her wallet which confused her.
"Why would i take your wallet?"tia asked as the ram faunus stood up with a nervous look.
"I..um…well i thought you like compassiantion for running into you."the ram faunus spoke up covering herself up as she could feel her staring. But tia looked away blushing slightly seeing her actually because she was cute in her opinion.
"Your alright….i may look intimidating. But i can be sweet to a cute chick like you"tia said as she realzied what she did blushing bright red. The ram faunus blushed to as she tried to clear the misunderstanding up.
"Wait..i…um…i didn't mean you were cute…i mean you are but…um well. Dammit"tia said groaning as the ram faunus covered her face hiding her blush. But soon pulled out a notepad writing on it then presented it to her. Tia looked at it taking it to her confusion seeing her scroll number on it.
"Well um if you think i'm cute. Why don't we go to this thing in a few days. This boxer i liked will be at a–"before she even finished tia did.
"That the savage huntress will be at a tournament during autographs."tia finished which peeked the girl interest a little.
"Oh are you a fan of her too?"she asked as tia nodded then the two exchanged pleasantries planning their little date in the next few days. But that might soon start something that will end in tragedy.
Present.
The women stared at the picture of her dead girlfiedn upset because she still misses her at time. Back then they bonded over their love of boxing at times. But lily was so timid at times being forced to do thing she didn't like. Those two fox brothers forced her to join a protest and a week later. She see her dead on the new, she confrotned them but they said she served her purpose well.
"Alright lets get going everyone. We should return to base"tulip said as they all grabbed their gear ready to leave. But gwen eyed something through some rubble. She began to dig through it for a bit before pulling something out a pristine guitar with no strachs.
"Hey guys why don't we bring this back to base. Maybe it can help boost everyone moral"gwen said presenting the guitar.
"Great idea. Maybe someone knows how to play"cardin replied as the five headed back to base.
But early inside the mindscape once the memeoire ended all of them were transported back into the hall of memories. Taking in what they all just saw at that moment.
"So the those guys used to be normal. It..its weird seeing that sbyra guy act like that"nebula said
"You mean how he gutted two of my buddies like it was nothing"Celeste reminded still anger he killed liam and dyaln. But she saw how guitly he looked that parasite must have made him do terrible things.
Bane sighed rubbing his forehead"look from what you saw those six used to be normal at the time. The first to take control was lota then upsilon..gamma…theta…zeta then finally epsilon"he said as he eyed his still shaken up host. Because zane had tears in his eyes seeing that as several memroei came rushing in which caused him to slightly crie in pain. His knees wobbled but vance rushed over catching him.
"You good over here cousin?"vance asked
Velvet knelt down seeing tears as she quickly concldued something"i think seeing that memeorie might have uprooted some more to surface. Probably alot of…traumatic ones"she sadly said which worried her and vance even more. If they stayed in here any longer could he become mentally broken from seeing these memeories.
"Alright look we can take a small break. Rather not see the kid cry his eyes out"celeste said
Nebula stretched slightly"yeah though wonder how the others are doing on–"she was stopped mid sentence as two gunshot rang out hitting her in the side. It launched her away from them down the hall. All of them immediately got up drawing their weapons all except zane who looked up slowly at their attacker. To their surprise it was him.
Their standing with two smoking revovler stood another perfect copy of him. But it was very different as it had ghost white skin with crimson eyes. Along with a monster looking arms like in his monster form. Their was also his feet were sharp claws that curled slightly along with a tail that swayed around. But for his face it had a grimm like mask that his creature form had.
But for his attire he wore a pair of black combat pants with red lining it. Along with a tattered dark blue muscle shrit hoodie like the one he wore at beacon. But he had bone white armor on his chest with the symbol of omega craved into it. Their was also how he wore no shoes as blood stained the armor on his legs, arms and chest. It looked very fresh.
"What heck is this thing? Another nightmare or something"vance questioned drawing his pistol.
Velvet nodded backing up"and why does it look like you?"she asked looking at zane who froze up shaking in fear. The second copy began to manically laugh at them holster its revolver as he gave a wicky grinn.
"Aww you don't know…i'm whats known as a terror. Or better yet what you are…a monster"the grimm copy said in a distorted dark voice pointing toward zane. He began to take a few rapid breaths freaking out because he was right. Everyone just views him as a monster now because its true, he killed so many people.
Celeste rolled her eyes"okay you aint that big of a deal. Your just a mental manifesation of the kids worst aspects. "She said but was preparing to run which they noticed doing that themselves. But the terror noitced this grinning at them as he pulled out his falcata swords that had bits of flesh hanging off them as he scrapped them across the ground.
"Where you running off to…don't you wanna play my prey. Our siblings are waiting for us to join them"the terror said as bane scoffed at it.
"Ah this thing also must be acting like my siblings…great. Lets hurry up now shall we"bane said with haste as they decided to start booking it down the hall. This made the terror grinn for the thrill of the chase. It began to chase them shooting at them cackling like a madman. It hit a few of them but they returned fire at the terror. To their surprise it hardly phazed it as it wnet right through it creating bullet holes.
"Oh man this is messed up. Its shrugging off our bullets like nothinng"vance said heistating to shoot at it because it looked like his cousin.
nebula back pettled firing two explosive bolt at it as it made contact creating a small dust cloud. The girl stopped for just a second with a proud look on her face.
"Hey i think i got the thing"nebula said in confidence.
"No you didn't that thing can only be killed by the person mind. Keep running kid"celeste said as the girl looked to see something emerge from the cloud of dust. The terror had some bits of flesh missing but its jaw was dislocated. But it quickly relcoated it chomping down grinning at her.
"Too bad little girl…maybe i'll do what brother alpha did to your girl. Tear your limbs off"the terror declared. Nebula immedailty began to sprint catching up with the others as they kept turning corners trying to avoid the terror. They did this for what seemed like minutes.
"So uh we just gonna keep running away from him. Or does anyone have a plan?"velvet asked as she was starting to get tired. All of them were after fighting so many nightmares early when they entered.
"Well for starters…the only one who can kill it..is my host. Sort of like uh deep route fear"bane replied
"Okay then kill it, then we don't gotta deal with it anymore"nebula demanded but zane just had a look of fear across his face.
"I..i um..i don;t know if i can"zane replied which confused them.
"Seriously its just you, you know yourself better than anyone. But guess people have been getting to you. "Celeste said getting their attention as they turned another corner.
"What are you talking about?"vance questioned
Celeste looked away sighing what she was going to say"well everyone been calling him a monster everyime hes around someone. Guess his fear is that he might have become one already"she said which upsetted a few of them. But nebula eyed him feeling bad for him for some reason. As they turned another corner they were met by the terror.
"Oh their you are i was busy having fun…say hello to your friends"the terror said gesturing to the hallway infront of them. Because infront of them it showed all the people some knew from the fall dead. Velvet noitced immedialty yatsu with his fulcrum sword buried into his chest. While fox had his neck snapped with it turned all the way around.
"No..no"velvet said several times holding her ears.
Vance noitced something just terrible that being neo with her throat torn out. Their was also rogue with her axe buried into her skull as blood gushed from it. Along with dove with his sword drive deep into his back as he layed dead. Though their was also pyrrha laying their with her spear through her chest keeping her standing still.
But in the terror hands shook zane to his core as he held onxyia in his hands. Then in an instant she snapped her neck throwing her toward then as she landed by them with dead cold eyes.
"All your friends are dead…and its all your fault"the terror said cheerfully as he approahced them dragged his claws hands against the wall. Zane just had tears break through as he held his head closing his eyes.
"Oh this is just messed up, your a real piece of work pal"nebula spat at the terror who snarled at her.
"Shut it bitch. I'll kill of you making him watch as i do it. Nice and slow"the terror said preparing to lunge at them. They began to keep backing up as nebula fired a few ice bolts to try and slow it down. But it smacked them away getting on all fours continuing to chase them.
Velvet had some tears in her eyes"that…that was just upsetting….we need to get out of here"she said firmly.
"Your not wrong but does that thing like to mess with people or something?"vance questioned.
"Yep the thing preys on causing trauma and fear to take over. Worst thing about my semblance is how it functions like one grimm in our world. But makes it ten times worse"Celeste said hoping over some debris infront her. As they kept running for more minutes they were starting to get tired.
But nebula eyed something close by a statue that semed to resemble a surgery table. With some qucik thinking she dove toward it touching them transporting them to another memeorie. Just in time as the terror tried to snatch velvet up but they disappeared. The terror kept seething in rage for a bit before smacking the ground roaring in rage.
All of them were blinded by the bright light again but quickly adjusted sighing in relief. Velvet fell onto her back panting for air to get back into her lungs. While vance wiped his brow from the swet beating down on it.
"Whoa nice thinking kid…dam…i thought we were goner"celeste said panting
"Seriously…we need to find this memerioe….if i die here i blame you Z"vance said panting as he expected a response from his cousin but got none. Nebula panted for a bit getting air back into her lungs.
"Well i saw some memeroie of some surgery room…guessed we go their an–"nebula was stopped as bane lunged at her socking her across the jaw. It sent her to the ground which shocked them when he attacked her.
"What was that for?!"nebula said with anger slowly boiling.
"You being an idiot! Do you know what you just picked? You picked one of the worst mememroeis to even visit right now"bane said in anger. Nebula stood up rubbing her sore jaw checking if it was dislocated.
Celeste huffed crossing her arms under her bust"kid didn't have a choice we could have died. What so bad about some dumb surgery?"she asked
Without answer he just pointed close by as they looked at what he was pointing. That being zane who kept taking several rapid breaths pacing around like crazy. He kept muttering to himself with tears streaming down his face.
"No..no..no not this day…not the day i got my back cut open."zane kept repeating over and over again in fear. Immedaitly velvet hoped back up to try and calm him down. She pulled him to face her as she tried to get him focused on her.
"Look at me and take a deep breath. Slowly count to three then exhale"velvet insutrcted but he couldn't as he just kept taking rapid breaths choking sobs back. This just worried them as they decided to see where they were. Were they were was a large room with several people in hazmat or doctor scrubs. Along with several guards lining the room, as celeste quickly figured out what they were going to see. How a grimm knight is made.
"Oh its a memory on how those grimm knights are made"celeste stated which got them interest.
"Alright but where the little….kid"nebula said as the memoeire played out like it did during his coma. It showed the guard rifle bashing him to the ground. But she immediately noticed all the bruises and shock collar on his neck.
Vance just tighten his grip seeing this because it paiend to see this happen to his family. But part of him worried how bad this memeorie was.
"That…don't worry man it'll be over soon. Once it over can you just take us out of his head"vance asked as celeste nodded. But velvet was still trying to calm zane down but he kept choking on his sobs as he shut his eyes covering his ears. The bunny faunus didn't know what to do as she tried to rack her head around it.
"Umm, I need help over here. He won't calm down even with all the exercises I'm doing that aren't working"Velvet said but soon bane walked over pulling him facing him away from the surgery table.
"Your not watching this again…just shut your eyes"bane ordered as he was already doing that. Though zane peeked noticing something that was different that being the two obseucred faces. It was merlot along with carmine standing their with tired looks. Though close by a dead boide was dragged away as the memory played
"Arthur the last patient died from shock due to the surgery. But you don't care"carmine said glaring at arthur who wasn't phazed.
"Hmph then lets hope omega is a success. Strap him down to the table then begin the procedure"arthur ordered as they watched them strapped him down onto the table. Though as they waited for one thing to be admisntraed, ansehtetic. But velvet quickly noticed arthur walking to a control panel activating the surgical tools it seems.
"Wait…they…they put you under right? You can't do surgery without anstheitcs"velvet said scared.
"Bunny ears is right. Don't tell us they tore a little kid open while he was awake"celeste asked very nervous right now. All of them looked at bane who had a look of regret nodding his head which answered their question. But vance couldn't believe that was done to his cousin.
"Your..your lying right..no…way that how the sur–"he couldnt' even finish until scream of agony could be heard. His ears flopped over immeidialty as all looked at the operating table. It showed the surgical tools beginning to tear into his flesh peeling it away. While he was awake crying in pain.
Velvet yelped pulling her ears over"no..no..i can't see this…this is..i'm going to be sick"velvet said feeling queasy all of sudden. Because it was gut wrenching.
Nebula covered her mouth as some tears escaped her eyes"i'm sorry…i..i..didn't know…oh my god"she said holding her head in shock. Celeste stood their mtoionless in horror at what she was even seeing infront her. But the others are also probably watching it right now as well.
The lynx had tears breaking through his eyes"make this stop…make this stop right now dammit!"vance demanded shaking celeste who had tears beginning to escape her eyes.
"I…i can't…the kid only can kick us out…oh my god"celeste said in horror. Nebula looked at zane trying to avoid looking at it as she regretted what she had to do. She walked over then tore his hands from his ears then forced his eyes open to make him watch.
"I'm sorry for doing this!"nebula cried as zane just looked in horror right now. Because soon enough they finished tearing his back open. Now the black haze soon revealed what was placed inside a chimera grimm. It showed the grimm known as bane being placed inside his back as he cried in pain. It began to latch onto his spine making him cry out in pain. Soon enough he broke as soon enough the memory stopped kicking them out of his head.
Once they all woke up, zane woke up screaming at the top of his lungs. It shocked the others who were they right now. But velvet immediately sat up holding her stomach rushing over to a nearby trash can gagging into it puking. Celeste gasped as tears stained her eyes as the orb fell to the ground disappearing. Vance sat up holding his head as tears ran down his face. Nebula just sat up with a look of regret on her face.
"Oh my…oh my god"celeste said over and over again. But soon nebula noticed something the current situation. Because nezumi had merlot by the throat slamming him down against a table several times hard as it kept banging onto it several times with each thud being louder than the last.
"I'm going to fucking rip your porthsetic eye out then shoved it down your throat!"nezumi shouted in rage slamming him down several times hard. The doctor let it happen as faba was trying to pull her off the man. Glynda was in a chair holding her head at what she just saw. Coco was just finishing up puking into a trash can coughing.
"Oh that…that was not right…uhhh i don't wanna eat tonight at all"coco said but noticed the others awake. More importantly the crying velvet who was covering her face at what she saw.
"Who would do that to a child? Why would they do that to little kid? Why would you never talk about this?"velvet cried as her voice cracked. Coco rushed over pulling her into a one arm embraced tight trying to comfort her
"I don't know…i don't know bun"coco shushed whispering sweet nothing in her ears. She kept doing this to calm her down. But vance just sat up pacing around holding his head crying still. Eventually faba tore nezumi off of merlot as she was beginning to strangel him to death. Merlot coughed gasping for air as she kept kicking and clawing trying to break free of his grip.
"Nez chill out i wanna kill this guy more than anyone. But we need him"faba brugnenly said but she didn't care because she'll string him up with her webs.
"Screw that! I'm going to hang him by my thred then snapped his neck. Then feed him to the grimm since hes a monster just like them!"nezumi shotued in rage.
"Miss. hollayway calm down. I'm sure were all shocked at what we saw but–"glynda was immediately stopped as zane started to cry out in pain for some reason. Some turned their attention to see him choking small sob back.
Because his scared back started to feel immense pain that wasn't stopping. It felt like his entire back was getting torn open again with his spine getting ripped out. He fell to the ground holding his heading as tears streamed down his face.
"It hurt..it hurts…make it stop…please make it stop"zane kept crying over and over again. Immediately taking action was nebula who got up from her cot. Then she picked him up cradling his bodie as he kept crying in pain. Her face was filled with regret for even touching that memory. She dind't know it was that bad.
"I'm so sorry…i'm so sorry…i didn't know…i'm sorry"nebula kept repeating over and over again trying to appolgize to him. But soon enough nezumi calmed down panting heavily seething in rage at what she just saw. Because she didn't expect to see their so called surgery being cutting people open while their awake.
As they sat their for a bit eventually after a few minutes zane just cried himself to sleep. Peach walked over with a look of horror as she gently helped the girl place him in the cot. Then she placed a blanket over him. They sat in silence as soon someone broek it.
"Your a psycho you know that right?"celeste said with venom glaring at merlot who looked at them with an upset look.
Faba glared at his cracking his knuckles"yeah how many people did this boss of yours kidnap over the years. How many of them were kids?"he demanded to know determining to judge the main. Glynda stepped forward using her crop to move the two back as they approach the doctor.
"Step back. I'm quite as shocked as all of you what i just saw. But the doctor here is valuable with the information her has"glynda spoke but then walked over as she cocked her fist back socking merlot across the face. The doctor stumbled still but had a bruise appear on his chest.
Glynda rubbed her hand"but i'm atone to punching a madman"she added
"Same here do you even feel guilty for what you did? How many people are dead because of you helping with those expeirments."coco questioned still consoling velvet who had tears presnet still as she just hugged herself queitly crying.
Vance growled looking at him seething in rage he was even apart of those experiments. He would like nothing more than to string him up somewhere high to kill him.
"Your going to burn in hell for what you did"vance said firmly.
"He right…because…god that why he never talked about it. Your a monster"velvet cried slightly
But the doctor just stared at them as he walked over to his satchel close by. He began to rummage through again until he pulled something out of it. That being eight very thick leaders that were labeled it seems. Merlot placed them down infront of all of them on the table. This confused them why he would even have this.
"What let me guess is this your little research log on all those experiments you performed"nebula spat cracking her knuckles.
"No its quite the opposite"merlot replied with a somber gaze.
Glynda picked up one ledge as it felt slightly heavy like several notes where in it. The women flipped it open seeing a random citizen of vale, she flipped the page seeing another. She did this for a bit seeing citizens from different kingdoms all around remnant.
"What is this. This ledger seems to show a random citizen that varies from vale, vacuo, atlas and mistral"glynda said as some of them of them took a peek at the ledge. They all studied them seeing people names, their birth place, date of birth who they are. But soon enough the doctor revealed what he knew.
"That right their are ledger containing every person who was kidnapped over the last decade. Its not all of them but i tried my best. Varying from each kingdom from vale where we are. To the floating city high above in the skies. To the harsh desert landscapes of vacuo and finally to the home of havan academy. some of which who are still alive"merlot begun as he walked over to the cot zane layed in.
The man sat down at the bedside holding his head with a somber look across his face.
"You think i don't feel shame for what i did? Regret for even being involved in these experiments. There isn't a day that goes by that i tell myself i should be dead for what i did. But i can't"merlot added as he looked up to reveal some tears in his eyes.
"If i die now i'd be avoiding my punihsment for what i done. I spent the last decade cataloing all those innocent people. Memroiizing who they are, their family, where their from. I wanted to make sure their families got closure for what happened to them. "Merlot continued as he just pulled the blanket over zane even more. Then stood up placing the ledgers back in his satchel.
"I regret torturing those poor souls. But i hope the other four can be put to rest like diego and aarne. I'm sorry"merlot finished as they decided to take his words into account for a bit. Vance just held his head sitting down wondering if his cousin is broken from what he just saw.
"What…what do we do now?"vance questioned.
Peach sighed as she concldued something"for starters that isn't normal. Ansthetics are used to make the area numb for surgery. "She said knwoignly from her medical expeinrce.
"The bonding process only works if someone awake during it."merlot sadly answered which didn't make them happy one bit hearing that.
"That is terrible but i'm guessing your concluding something on what you've seen peach?"glynd asked as she nodded.
"Yes judging from what i just saw he suffering from immense PSTD. that little memory might have resurfaced severe trauma. So severe it caused him to have phantom pain from that surgery scar"peach stated
Nebula held her head in regret hearing this because she might have just broken someone mind. All they might be suffering from relieivng past trauma.
"Are you saying i probably caused his mind to become broken?"nebula asked with regret in her tone.
"Probably not, I don't know. But uhh maybe we should tell the captain when their are back from patrol. To let the kid sleep in an actually bed. "Celeste said as she looked at the still very dark circles under his eyes.
Faba nodded in agreement"agreed. In my opinion kid still a monster for starting this mess. But uh he didn't ask for this. "He said as they all decided to bid each other goodbye waiting for the patrol to return.
"I hope you'll be alright cousin."vance thought to himself. He wanted to know what happened at that the lab. But that was just heartbreaking, maybe heading to menagerie seeing his family will help him.
We got to see why trifa and some others left the fang along with some of tia backstory. Their was also merlot annoucing the guilt and burden he has for the crimes he commited. Though vance is worried if his cousin is mentally their right now. Thanks for reading!
