Chapter 32:scouting

Back at the mining camp right now was asher as he was walking up the front gate. He still felt like crap but needed to lay down for a bit. Once at the gate the guards looked at him motioing for identifiiction.

"Identify yourslef or we will shoot"the guards ordered raising their weapons at him

The huntsman groaned as he smacked his face"its me you dam bastards…back from town can i come in?"asher asked as the guards waited for a minute before making way for him. He stepped inside the camp as he passed by some cages. Inside those cages were faunus and huamns varying form different ages. All of them looked terrible with tattered clothes and brusies all over their bodie. But as he walked past them a few of them glared at the man with hate and digust.

He didn't care at this point he just needed to lay down and be alone. Though someone else had differnet plans as he felt someone shock his neck jolting him awake.

"What the hell who did…that"asher begun as he turned to see who did it. That being a girl who seemed fourteen judging by her age. She had tan skin with blond hair briadd in a pony tail with dark purple eyes. But her right eye had a large birthmark on it.

The girl attire consited of a victorian rocco dress ball gown that reaches the ground. It was crimson red in color with black lining it as the front part of the gown was jet black while the sides were crimson red. The corset she wore with it was jet black as it pushed her chest up slightly. An LED mask was pulled to side as it suggested she uses it to communicate

Though strapped to her back was a curved sword shaped like a lighting bolt that had tesla coils on the hilt guard as they glowed slightly.

Asher sighed in relief"Oh its just you kid"asher greeted with a head pat

"H-hello…what took you soon long in town?"she asked following his close

Asher rubbed his neck"nothing much had a drink is all, shoudln't you be near yohi? He'll get mad if you aren't near him"asher warned as the girl shook slightly hugging herself in fear.

"I..i..should…but he told me to find you when you return or i get punished"she said scared as he looked very worried about that. Hes been here for a few months now, but this girl seems to be that faunus slave or something.

"Alright asani lets hurry up. I don't want you getting hit for me being an idiot"asher advised as they walked deeper into the camp. While they did asher watched a few of the soilder here hard at work. Their work being forcing their capitive to work in those dam mines for dust crstyals and ores in the mine.

He watched as an old man fell to the ground as his legs gave out. A guard walked over kicking him hard in the gut.

"Get up slave and keep working or you'll go to the cages"the soilder said as he gesuted behind him as asher glanced at it. Those cages being cages contianing a few beowolf as they snarled at any who dares pass them.

The old man coughed"please…i need a break..you've been working us nonstop"he begged but the grunt just rifle bahsed him in the skull as a crack could be heard.

"I don't care get moving now!"he ordered aiming a pistol at the man head. The old man slowly got up as he limped slightly but got back to work.

Asher stood their sighing to himself as asani looked back at him"we need to hurry before they get mad"she said getting his attention.

"I'm coming, i'm coming"asher replied as they continued to walk for a bit. Until finally they arrived at a large command center with yohi at the head. Along with maya close by messing with her crossbow. Though their was another grimm knight

But he was just muttering to himself like a crazy person.

"Just shut up…keep your dam words out of my head"the man muttered to himself as he held his head

Asani walked over bowing to yohi"i..i..brought as requested sir"she said as he smiled pating her head as she flinched slightly.

"Good now sit down near delta. "Yohi ordered as she did hugging herself avoiding the women gaze. Maya loaded a bolt in her crossbow noticning this.

"Aww don't be scared little one i don't bite…much"maya said pressing the crossbow against the girl stomach as she frooze in complete fear.

"S-s-sorry i'm not used to…being near a grimm knight yet"asani replied stuttering in fear as maya removed her weapon from her stomach.

"Your fine. Be a good little slave and i won't kill you"she warned sweetly as she nodded.

Yohi glanced up barely as Asher took a seat glaring at him"guess your finally back from your swill pawn. Tell me see anything interesting their?"he asked

Asher groaned rubbing his neck as it felt stiff when Ted punched him, though he deserved it.

"Nothing much saw my friends in town…they all want me dead. "Asher replied growling a little bit the man didn't care

"Whatever, but right now I got a job for you that you need to do tommorrow"yohi ordered

The huntsman looked at the map seeing that their was a image with the mine their based at. Along with a drawing of the town on it. But what he found strange was picutres of some girl with silver eyes along with that blonde girl they took. Though their was also one of the mayor office along with his long time friend Percy. He didn't like the look of this at all.

"What do you want me to do?"asher alsed but as reo was about to answer the grimm hybrid muttering to himself screamed to the heavens. They watched as he walked to a wall banging his head hard against it to maya annoyance.

"Mu can you calm that idiot down, he's giving us a headache"maya asked

"His host simon probably is fighting back."yohi suggested as the grimm known as simin screamed in pain.

Simin fell to his knees panting as he winched in pain"get out of head…please…I don't want this"simin cried but yohi groaned as he produced a shock stick. Then he prodded him lighting him up as he fell to the ground.

"Let him take over or you'll be put down"yohi ordered the man who shook a little before sobbing slightly. He did this for a bit before he just started to laugh manically for a bit standing straight up smiling.

"Ah sorry about that let him slip for a moment. Now what are we going to do?"simin asked with a hand on the table.

"Before you interrupted me. Asher here will be heading into town tommorrow with me and maya"yohi said as Asher looked worried immedialty by this

"What do you want me to do?"asher aksed getting straight to the point.

Yohi smiled"your going to make a statement tommorrow that if they keep hiding those rebels. We're going to torch their town you'll use a few of the workers here to do it. And your gonna shoot them"he begun as Asher just stood up slamming his hands down onto he table rocking it.

"Are you that much of a soulless bastard it's not their fault Percy's just stubborn. You killed someone he looked up to as a father figure. I did too"asher replied in anger but the cocking of a crossbow bolt could be pointed it straight at his head for the kill.

"Sit down and be a good boy or we kill your girl"maya warned as Asher complied sitting down grumbling to himself

"She right one false move and she's dead, and that dumb mine owner can rot in hell. I may have killed him but you handed him over to us along with the mines deed. Just follow orders, go relax"yohi finished.

Asher just clenched his fist tight beofre nodding which reo understood he'll do it. Then he dismissed him as the huntsman returned to his tent to be alone. Once their he just layed on his bed with a look of regret for what hes done to his long time friends here.

About hour passed and inside her cell still was rogue who was trying to pass the time best she can. Their wasn't much to do in this cramped, damp temporary place of living right now. She talked to casta for a bit but a half hour ago they took her away for some test.

The hayley girl didn't know what these test are but hoped they aren't bad. Because if her partner wnet through them it begged the question what are they. Though their also the fact her partner is alive she been happy about it for a while now. But was just a teensy bit mad at him for that video he sent.

The blonde sighed as she was laying down on the hard ground then sat up.

"So this is totally boring, i wonder if everyone noticed i've been kidnapped yet"she thought to herself wondering if she was going to get rescued soon enough. But they obviosuly have noticed since she left ember and her weapons back at jaune sister place.

Rogue looked around the room for a bit as she tried to come up with an escape plan"hmm okay that selket chick comes back here at around nighttime i'm guessing. Also she seems to live in here so proabbly his persoanlly bed room to keep an eye on casta maybe. "She thouhgt as she stood up grabbing the bars to try and melt them.

But alas she couldn't since she had an SDC collar on her neck. If she had her tools she could short circuit it to release her. As she sat their for a bit soon enough the doors opened to reveal casta. But flanking her was selket along with two guards carrying her.

They walked to her jail cell opening it as they quickly tossed her in violenlty. Casta landed hard on the ground gasping for air. Selket slammed her cell shut tight.

"Their you are little sister home sweet home. Hurry up rho and take her over"Selket said before glancing at rogue making her flinch slightly which the women smiled at. Walking over to the nearby shelf she got curious.

"Tell me what makes you afraid. Most people have several phobias i used to be psychiatrist believe it or not"she asked smuggly. And just like that rogue had fear set in slowly.

"I mean most people are afraid of typically things. Lets play a guessing game of what your phobia could be"she started

"Afraid of the dark. No you don't seem like the type. Afraid of heights…no i highly doubt that"she began as if she was trying to get a reaction out rogue.

"How about spiders?"selekt asked mockingly. Rogue eyes widden ever so slightly even she didn't say anythnt that was what selket wanted to see as she grinned.

"Ah there it is. Just what i wanted to see your fear is archoaphobia. She replied

"N-no"rogye stuttered not linking where this was going as selket retrieved a jar. The contents being about two large spiders hissing as she approached the celldoor. Unscrewing the top she placed it in the room as the creepy crawlers entered.

Much to rogue dismay her fear of spider was already taking in effect as she tried to find somewhere high out of reach as she began breathing rapid.

"No! Get them away from me!"She cried out with one crawling on her foot as she screamed swatting at it. Selket was loving every second of rogue cry for help. Every sound, every cry only made her smile more. Selket walked over to her celldoor with a wicked smile on her face.

"Get comfortable in their i'll play with you another time"selket said softyl which made rogue glare at her as she left the room. The spider kept crawling toward her as she raised her foot stomping one dead, then she quickly stomped the other one. She began a barrage of stomp flattening the archinids as she slowed her breathing for a bit.

Before she could do anything she heard sobbing close by and glanced at casta. She looked to see the back of her neck banagded as it was stained in black like blood. The tinekr figured out she might have gotten a needle in her neck.

She decided to maybe comfort her to pass the time"hey you alright in their?"rogue asked as casta looked at her with tears on her face she shook her head.

Rogue sighed"guess that does hurt getting that thing in your neck…though why do these guys keep calling you little sister?"rogue asked as casta got up balling up.

"I..i don't know…everysince i got here…they've done things to me. I..i..they made me go through some surgery"casta said craddeling her head as rogue raised an eyebrow at that. What did she mean by surgery, could zane gone through that.

"What do you mean by surgery?"rogue hesiantly asked

Casta shook as tears escaped again"i..i..i they placed something in my back…i was awake while it happened. I could feel them tearing into my back…now their something in my head that never shuts up. "Casta said as she could hear whispers in her head as she winched in pain clutching her head.

The huntresses was very shocked to hear that what they did to people here. But was curious how much she knows but guessed it might be too much for her. Along with it being very sensitive and painful topic.

"You don't need to continue just hold out here, i'm sure my friends are coming up with a plan as we speak"rogue reassured wondering where the others are.

Meanwhile back in town everyone met back up in poppy house as they discussed their current situation. Along with explaining to them who kidnapped rogue and why.

"So your telling us she was kidnapped by her?"nora asked pointing at beth who was sitting on a chair.

"Because her kid was taken by them about a month ago or whatever?"nora added

"Thats pretty much it along with that we've gotten an ally on the inside right now. But we need to plan how were going to attack them and free those kidnapped people and our friend"jaune replied

Ruby nodded for a bit as she thought of something"okay well we can have beth go to their base to get her son back. Once their maybe we can scout the place out from a ridgeline or the forest"ruby began

"But when she gets their and get your son ma'am we'll observe and figure out the best way to infiltrate their base hopefully coming up with a plan to stop what ever their doing here. After you have your son in arms just get out of her as qucikly as you can and don't look back"ruby told her as she nodded udnersanding what she meant.

Beth broguth her scroll but she didn't dial yet before looking at the eight of them.

"Its best if they don't know if their anyone in the room"beth said as they filed out of the house to have her queit.

Once they left beth then dialed the number on her scroll as it rang once before it picked up.

"Ah sweetheart their you are. I was starting to think you didn't want your son"maya said

"My deepest apolgize the calling so late. Can i come meet you to pick my son up?"beth asked

"Hmm okay just come here and come grab your precious baby boy. We didn't harm him…much"maya said as beth tighten her grip slighlty.

"Okay but he better be their when i get their"beth said as maya hung up on her.

The eight re-entered the room eharing the entire conversation.

"That went rather well didn't it. Should we get going?"frankie asked

"Not yet. Let dingo ears over here get a head of us as we trail behind just far enough so that we aren't spotted. Beth its just a short walk their, we'll be close by watching your back. Just get your son and get out of their as fast as you can and don't stop for anything. Hide somewhere till this blows over"qrow ordered before turning to everone else.

"The rest of you get prepared, we leave in one hour"qrow said

"Okay we got this i'll stay behind i need to watch tina"poppy said

Jaune punch a fist into his palm"alright its go time, or like someone would say. Lets kick these slavers butt to the stone age!"jaune cheered which only got everyone to look at him verily. He noticed this and cross his arms.

"It was better when he did the jokes"jaune said getting a laugh from the beacon group as they dispeaersd to prepare for their mission.

One hour elspaed from the plan they had quickly as the group of eight had everything ready for their joruney ahead of them as they were going to the crimson talon base of oeprations here that was in the mine the town owned.

"Alright listen up. When we get their beth start off first giivng you five minute lead. After that we follow her but remain spread out in the woods. We do this right then everyone makes it out alive. Remebr the crimson talon only expect her to showup so don't be surprise we have to stay pretty far away to go unnoticed. And more improtantly were their to just observe, and make sure beth gets her son to get to safety. We can't jump the gun trying to do soemthing crazy that can jeopordize the mission and town"ruby stated

Everyone gave a clear nodded understanding what she mean as qrow smiled produly at her.

"Alright once we know both her and her son are safe we leave like we were never their"she said before turning to beth.

"Beth…your five minutes start now"ruby said as beth ebgan to take off into the forest speed walking.

Five minutes past rahter quickly as ruby gesuted them to follow as they moved hrough the woods queitly and quickly. As they followed they used ren scroll to track beth location on the map as she was traveling to the location.

"Tracker is working perfectly. Looks like she is heading straight their"ren said as he kept track of her location.

"Good were right behind her then"ruby replied as they turned on a path beth took. About twenty more minutes of walking ruby held a hand up which cuased them all to stop in their traks.

"Alright this is where we split up to cover more ground. Were not too far now from the base and dig sight. This requries stealth okay. Jaune, me and uncle qrow are one group. Mercury and frankie your another and that leaves nora and ren as the last group. Rember only observe and make she gets out with her son then we leave"ruby ordered as they separted into their groups as they began the walk to the base.

Luckily they didn't have to walk very far as they shrotly arrived at the mining sight. From just looking at the entrance how heavily gaurded it was with six patrol guards out front holding autmatic weapons with a fenced off entrance with barbed wire on it. Their was also two watchtowers that had high cailber turrets in it with spotlights. Around most of the place was covered by a fence with barbed wire as it spakred slightly suggesting it was eletrcfied. Their was also several tents inside the camp that varied from size. Along with cages that either contained the kidnapped faunus and human, while some had grimm in them. But ontop of the entire camp was a large black banner that had the logo of the crimson talon on it with the a pair of falcon talons opened ready to strike in red.

"Everyone keep a low profile and spread out"ruby ordered as they seperated with mercury and frankie hiding in some trees. Jaune, ruby and qrow took a small ridge line that provided a good amount of cover. While nroa and ren hide behind a large bush to hide in. their was an open field that led to the camp with some rocks but they stayed in the forest to stay hidden.

"Yeah that them alright. No doubt about it"nora said

Ruby though along with jaune had some binnoculars are they watched beth walk to the front entrance of the camp. The six patrolling gaurds immedialty responded by pointing their weapons at her.

"Hold it! Don't move!"one of them shouted

"If you do we'll shoot to kill!"another added

Beth immedialty put her arms up in a surrender posutre"Wait! I came to speak to the selket!"beth said quickly.

The six guards looked at each other before one gestued for one of the gaurds to radio someone.

" we need you over here at the front gate m'am

"he radioed as they waited for a bit.

Ruby watched this play out with her binnoculars as it had a built in microphone to hear at long distance.

"Their bringing out one of the grimm knights"ruby said from her spot on the ridgeline.

The guard came back with selket in tow without her mask as she seemed slightly annoyed to be their. But the others who haven't seen her where surprised by the large deathstalker pincher on her hand.

She looked at the women that was infront of her and chuckled"beth dearie. Good for you to come claim your son."she replied

"You know why i'm here. I did as you ask to do. Now i want my little boy"she said in an almost demanding tone.

"Ah yes of coruse. You hope to reunite with your beloved son we took a month ago. Very well then"she said before turnign to the guard.

"Go take her to her beloved child please"selket asked as the guard nodded as two of them gesutred beth to follow them. Beth did as ordered as she followed them inside the camp.

"Alright now everyone we wait. Remeber once she has her son we pull out of here got it."ruby reminded as everyone nodded.

Though something was bothering qrow about this situation that made him feel uneasy which didn't go unotice by jaune.

"Hey your alright?"he whispered. Qrow shook his head at his question.

"Something….doens't feel right about this. I don't like how its just letting her go"qrow said as he took the binnoculars to watch the camp seeing the guards staring at beth as she was gudied through the camp. But noited asher looking at her with a face of regret on his face fighting tears back it seems. He saw how she was led to a small cage near a few tents . He noticed the small faunus boy inside it but he wasn't moving.

He took a clsoer look to see soemthing troubling that his throat was slit. Which meant he was already dead as he lowered the binnocualrs with a sorrowful look.

A moment later a blood curdling scream was heard inside the camp as beth rushed outside of the camp with a mad look on her face but tears streaming down he rface as she confrnted the women

"How could you?! We had a deal you dam freak!?"she shouted as she grabbed a hold of her dress

"And we still do have a deal. I did promise to reunite with your son did i not"selket said as she smirked at her.

"What do you–"she began before in an isntance before she could finish something sharp was dug into her gut as her eyes went wide. She looked downward seeing selket claw stabbing her as blood seeped from beth wound.

Beth stumbled backward a little but she held her close with his other arm"what are…doing?"she asked as she started to breath heavily.

"Keeping our end of the deal dearie. I'm just taking the fun approach"selket said as she dug her stinger into her right shoulder causing her to scream in pain which she enjoyed

"Our world is on the verge of a new era one ruled by a new race of being. This race is us the grimm hybrids we will make way for more of our kind. For our queen soon we'll slaughter both faunus and humans"she begun

"Three more pillars are still standing but not for much longer. Once the world realizes that this world belong to our queen, not them. Others have joined our cause like those low down crooks in mistral and our faunus allies. Our sibling already destoryed one kingdom"she continued undoing her claw then placed it around the women throat.

"And if anyone gets in the way of our queen. They will be killed for her!"selket finished slowly closing her claw on her.

Beth at this point was panicking trying to come up with anything to keep herself alive a bit longer

"Wait! Please! If you kill me then what about th–"beth began but before she could finish her body went limp as her head fell to the ground. Her head rolled for a bit as it had a look of pure horror across it. Then selket dropped her body to the ground kneeling.

"What was that? Sorry i kinda can't hear you on the account of you having no head"selket taunted as beth head didn't respond but had lifeless eyes.

Selket hummed slightly standing up"get them out of our sight. Maybe feed them to the grimm or maybe one of my little siblings wants them"she ordered as the men dragged her body toward the camp along with the boy bodie. They walked toward a cage containing some grimm as they tossed them inside as they began to feast on them. While asani was close by with a disgusted look as she hugged asher who just looked in horror at the sight as some tears escaped his eyes.

On the outside of the camp the entire group just stood in shock at what happened and they could tell that beth didn't make it. They watched as the grimm feasted upon her bodie and her sons. Jaune stomach coudln't handle it as he rushed far enough as he expelled vomit onto the ground.

Nora though was covering her mouth trying to make sure they didn't hear her cry. Ren just held her close in shock what he just witnessed. While Frankie just covered his face as tears escaped his eyes. Mercury just shook his head at the sight. Qrow just clenhced his binnocualrs close seething in rage at how they treated them like they were nothing but trash to them.

This just made ruby mad as she had tears streaming down her face as she was going to rush foward as her eyes glowed silver a little. But qrow pulled her back covering her eyes stopping her.

"I know your anger kiddio but we can't give oursleves away. The only thing we can do….is fall back. Now that we know what were up against and why asher helping them. We need to come up with a plan to take it back and rescue your friend but….were going to need to have percy guys help us prepare"qrow said as the group had to fallback and decided to head back to the mayors house.

Qrow looked back one more time at the mining camp as he sleitnly swore that he would get some closure for beth and her son. By killing that bastard who killed her.

This chapter we saw the apperance of two more of these new knight of grimm the cyclops and bengerigal. Along with that seeing that beth was exccuted before their very eyes which seems to trouble ruby a little. Asani, simin and any other names mentioned are my own oc. Thanks for reading!
