Last chapter we saw ruby and the gang seeing that the chimera grimm in their friend was white with silver eyes. Which might give them the advantage when salem arrives. But it seems that they'll have a peaceful day at belongs to Rooster Teeth and Monty Oum. I own the OC's, AU. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 111:Peaceful Day
Fist were flying through the small training arena inside havan academy as both combatants were giving it everything they got in their training. Currently both rogue and ruby were in a stalemate as neither of them budged from their spot as they were locked in a power struggle. Ruby figured out rogue was a little stronger than her and with those videos more hand to hand experience but she had the speed to comepsnate for the disadvantage
Ruby pushed rogue back and using what yang taught her back on the patch began throwing carefully placed punches to get the upper hand on her oppponet. However rogue saw this coming and acted accordingly blocking and even matched her punches. Though she was impressed that ruby progresses so fast that she not aving to rely on her weapons as much thanks to those vidoes and yang training. Dravan was close by clapping his hands
"Alright you two enough training seems whatever you've been doing is paying off"dravan said as rogue blocked another punch from her
"Yeah. though those videos were pretty useful and the sparring with big sis"rogue replied
"Yeah. though i feel like we got alot more to learn"ruby admitted
"You can say that again. Because it took me so long to get them down luckily all that traveling made up for it"rogue added as she shoved ruby away as she readied again
"Why don't you two take a break for a moment. Rahter not tire ourslve out just yet"dravan suggested as rogue relaxed her stance. Ruby relaxed her stance though she was breathing rather hard from the training.
"Yeah a break sounds great right now"she said as the two walked to the bench as eria offered her sister a drink who took it. As she untwisted the cap taking a swig feeling relieved then handed it to ruby who did as well.
"I will say you two seem better at fighting with your hands but you should work on your stamina. tire yourself out pretty quick out their making it easy for people to attack you. You need to be careful of that"eria advised
"Alright i can handle that"Ruby said as the two sat down as rogue rubbed her side for a moment.
"Though seriously did you have to hit me that hard with your bat."rogue whined as her sister glanced at her huffing.
"Revenge for you deciding to run away from home. But…i wouldn't have left home to find our uncle then. It seems our family is whole"eria said cheerfully as the jackal chuckled as his tail wagged
"Same here because….well i missed my two only nieces. Along with that i'm sure you'll love your baby cousin."dravan cooed
Rogue grinned at that"yeah i totally forget about her oh man i'm excited for that"she said but paused
"But mom and dad will probably ground me for life when they get here….fun"she added at the thought
"Well i'm sure it'll be fine but lets take a small breather before we continue"ruby said as they decided to watch the others train as well.
May was doing some target with onxyia close by shooting some target furhter away as she was hitting most of them but some of them she did miss. While onxyia managed to hit most of them as well praticing with her hunting pistol. Zane was busy praticing with training bots they had on sight as close by watching him was mercury, bashira, velvet,yang and neo. While jaune and cardin were busy training with adam as he was running at the two of them through the ringer as he dodged a swipe from jaune sword and kicked away an attakced from cardin mace but the two are working surprisingly well together.
Jaune rushed at adam feinting a strike from his sword but instead went to bash adam with his shield knocking him back a bit. Cardin pressed a button on the hilt which allowed the mace to slack as a chain was attached to the end of it.
Cardin swung the mace around and launched it directly at adam. He saw this as adam raised blush to block it but it instead wrapped around the sheath. Using this advantage adam yanked back making cardin trip forward as he collided into jaune almost but luckily he dodged it. But this resulted in his sword being knocked out of his hands as cardin weapon clattered on the floor below him
Seeing he had no weapon jaune ditched his shield before going into a fighting stance as adam noticed this doing the same. Ditching his sword the two stared each other down before the first to strike was adam. He swung his fist toward the knight but he raised his arms blocking it before he started to block a barrage of attacks from him
After some strikes to his forearm adam was swinging at him which made jaune seize the opportunity to strike. He cocked his fist back before ducking the swing as he swung hard into his side causing him to stumble a little. But what he was expecitng was adam to side step him then spin kicked him into cardin who was in the midst of getting up as the two groaned on the ground.
The two fo them groaned while adam walked toward the two kneeling down to them.
"You two are improving but you need to work on your synergy with each other. Relying on rbute strength isn't going to win you many battles"adam said
"But surprised your pretty well versed in hand to hand combat who taught you?"he added as jaune rubbed his shoulder for a moment
"Well uh i got videos from zane that showed a bit of boxing stuff. Praticed alot though i never really fancied the place"jaune replied
Cardin rolled his eyes"you mean how everyone their was bigger than the stringbean knight of beacon"he mocked slightly as he returned a tap to the shoulder
"Funny. I didn't have to wear a maid dress as a punishment which is much worse"jaune retorted making the boy feel embarrassed as adam gave a small chuckled before walking back into position.
"Well then lets start again. Show me what you got"adam said while jaune and cardin got back up. Jaune got into a ready position while cardin retracted the mace head and readied himself for another round.
Thisite, bombay, tyra, perun and zephyra were watching from the sideline the entire time
"Wow they're really giving it their all huh?"bombay said
"Yeah their working hard for whats coming. Hopefully this training will be enough for the fight against our enemy"tyra stated
"I'm sure it'll be fine were here too so they won't be alone when the real fights starts"perun added
"Yes though i'm thankfully we have the chance to get help from others to make it easier. With the faunus on their way and several others we actually stand a chance"thsiite replied with slight cheer as zephyra glanced one at one person training
That being zane who was in the midst of dodging the strikes of six bots right now armed with swords. While he had both falcats swords out two of them lunged at him bringing both their swords down as he blocked both strikes getting into a power struggle.
The other four tried to sneak up on him but he was given a headups by someone in his head
"Those other four are sneaking up on you watch out"bane warned as he quickly broke free from the power struggle breaking free of them as the four tried to stab him but hit nothing. Then he flipped one swords backwards as he activated his semblance before going into his prowler form catching a few others attention at that moment.
"Well this is a surprise because that what they meant by him unlocking a new part of his semblance"zephyra siad joining those watching with rogue,dravan, eria,ruby, neptune and onxyia walking over as may kept pratcing.
That being as she looked through her scope again and fired at another target in front of her and saw it go down with meer ease. She kept doming and firing at several target poping up in quick succession as they kept falling down like pins.
"Got to get sharper"she shot at another target but this was furhter out
"Can't afford to miss"another target came up but it went down like the rest.
"I won't fail like i did with my team or nolan. I need to get stronger for them….for roy and brawns"she fired anot shot this time splitting the target in two this time. As some of the others watch zane as he bent backwards doging a bot strike as his tail whipped around before jamming the bladed tip into its head disabling it as it sparked and layed on the ground.
Then he kept dodign another one that stabbed at him several times chipping at his aura a bunch. But eventually it swung for an downward slash but he raised his foot catching it inbetween his claw toes. Quickly he buried the blade into its chaise as it still sparked to life as the other tried to sneak up on him.
But his ears flicked just in time as he turned back before leaning back with his other sword as he threw it into its head. Spritnign forward he lunged forward before grabbing onto its head and twisting his head he snapped its head clean off its shoulder as it was desotyred. Then another bashed him in the back as he growled at it before continuing to attack them.
"Anyone else finding it very weird how he can into a dog now"mercury commented
"Eh well its inherited or whatever seriously that quite a shock to hear his semblnaces is inehirted"dravan replied
Rogue hummed a little"yeah but man with each of ours evolving we could come up with some pretty good strategies for them'she said
"That might be true though he…really isn't mentally their remeber"velvet sadly reminded as bashira looked away from a moment which eira noticed giving the side eyed
"So it seems that benkei is regretting the comments she made early at the camp it seems. Along with what she said early."she codly said as some looked away at that because of what they saw and heard early.
Bashira sighed"look..i…i now i kinda came off like a little big of a jerk"she said before a few of them eyed her
"Alright a really big jerk. But i'm just trying to be safe shocker that why he fine with him. A grimm with silver eyes but…sorry for playing that video still"she apolgized again
"Uhhh yeah that….still kinda freaked out to see that done to a little kid"neptune replied
"Your not the only one seriously it hurt to hear my cousin went through that. It was bad in menagiera"neo signed sadly as rogue eyed her partner for a moment she mad at him for what he did but couldn't help but be worried.
"Well….were lucky we stop it like last time seriously. It sucked being at each other throats"yang replied
"Same but…how is he this good at hand to hand combat. Because i don't ever recall him fighting like that"ruby said as he dodged around strike from a bot before grabbing it arm snapping it half as he opened his maw biting into its face before tearing it off spitting it out. As he kept fighting the other two who changed directives deicing to run away and attack him several times.
"She right because seriously it likes he some expert in fighting with his hands"merucyr replied as yang scratched her head
"Oh thats becuases he a black ops oeprative for atlas sparatans or whatever"yang commented casually making the rest of them freeze for a moment as jaune, cardin and adam were finishing another successful spar but their interest was peeked.
"The atlas who?"jaune asked but that was when zephyra eyes sank into her skull confused right now
Zephyra began to laugh for a moment"oh…oh good one their is no way he is apart of their unit their top secret soldiers in atlas. How do you know about them?"she questined
"Wait okay who are these guys?"rogue asked confused
"Their pretty much well don't say this too anyone else becuases it very top secret. Because its something atlas has for our kingdom denfese"zpehyra replied eyeing some
"Crystal we got crooks in our group and we haven't snitch on them. Heck or even claimed the bounty on this guy over here. Or the 30 million on grimm boy"cardin stated
"Okay but who are these guys exactly?"nora questioned
"Well their a military unit who works closly with ace ops. Their personally the best from each unit in the military from what thisite told me. Her aunt knows their commander artemis since she served with her son units. Am i right?"bahsira asked htisite who now was hearing those soldier being mentioned
"Why are you talking about aunt artemis military unit? "she questioned
"Well apparently their leader mill cho knows my bofyriend or something persoanlly. "Onxyia replied earning more confused look
"Bullcrap…how do you even know his name. Because for starters you aren't from atlas….how do you know that?"thsiite asked very shocked she knows him. As cardin eyed his friend bag before retrieving it pulling out his pin and mask along with the photo album
"Well hes got the pin along with this dumb mask. Even a photo album of his time their guys went on like twenty three missions with them"Cardin replied shocking them but zephyra went wide eyed seeing that pin along with the mask before a thought popped into her head blsuhing slightly.
"Huh weird mask and some dumb pin. Why are they important extaclty?"dravan questioned
"Uhhhh what…i..i how do you have that? They never wear those out in public only on missions…their not allowed to have them out"zephyra said with complete shock as some thought he was just an idiot.
Eria couldn't even believe it right now hearing her leader was some blacks ops soilder. While rogue was starry eyed hearing that right now.
"Are you saying that guy…is a black ops soilders…i call bullcrap"mercury said not convinced
"Their is no way the resident clown of beacon academy second to yang is a military soilder."eria said pointing to yang who grinned before grabbing the photo album in hand opening it
"Well take a look at this stuff because seriously your guys jaws are going to drop right now"she said as they all looked shocked to see several photos of soldiers in atlas unfiroms in picture. But thsiite was caught offguard to see miller their posing with the same person sparring right now. Along with most of them recognizing him in several pictures with a variety of soldiers and ace ops of them couldn't believe it seeing him with a bunch of soldiers in various enviroments right now. Along with wearing military gear as he held a shotgun on his shoulder with marrow and harper next to him. Their was also one showing him in an airship with a bunch of other soldiers and a few people in oil rig uniforms. Another showed him holding a large caliber sniper next to paddy and bediou posing with it.
Rogue jaw dropped caught offguard by this surprised her partner and leader was a special forces operative she has the coolest partner ever. Jaune couldn't believe it either but it made sense what he did over the years. As eria was processing all of this right now like she was going insane.
Ruby was surprised by this"thats so cool! Why didn't you tell us you where in the military!"she called out startling him right now as he removed his claw from a bot as one snuck up behind him whacking him in the head as he growled grabbing a revolver blowing its head off as he molted it off before falling to his knees panting.
While close by was falk, lazuli and weiss who were in the middle of their own training on their own. Weiss concentrated her focus on her semblance as she began to concentrate as she focused on her semblance as she began to remember as she recalled what winter told her back in argus.
"Remeber wiess summoning isn't only just about how to remember your foe. Feel it within you, remember how it felt when you faced your opponent for the first time, remember how it felt when it was defeated, grasp hold of that memory and give it life"winter voice rang in her mind.
"Weiss began shifting through her memories as she began to recall the frist every enemy she defeated. Remebrring its shape, its form, its strength. A large glyph appeared in front of her as she began to concentrate on the sumoing she did like before. She remembered the difficult of it was to defeat, how imposing the opponent was.
Everyone else stopped for a moment at what they were doing as they all turned to see what weiss was doing as they paid close attention. Weiss really didn' see what they looking at as her eyes were closed mainly focusing on the memory of her opponent. Then a picture of the opponent appeared in her mind as the glyph spun a little faster. With now a clear picture of what she wanted to summon she lifted her hand into the air before slamming her palm at the ground causing the glyph to complete the summoning a bright light engulfignt eh field
Everyone turned away from the bright light but then looked back and they coudlnt' believe what they saw in front of them. That smae large suit of armor incases ina cyan colored aura with a large buster sword in its hand with the blade facing down as it held it by the hilt. As lazuli was in the midst of running around praticing with her semblance but stumbled from the bright light tiwsitng her ankle launching herself into a wall.
"Holy cow"nora said comply taken back
"Indeed"ren added to his partner comment
Looking out rhe window raven, qrow, diamona and nadia and currently in control ozpin looking upon the training field and saw what weiss had done.
"The schnee family summoning technique. Only their bloodline could master such a skill with their semblnace"ozpin said
"Not bad for a shortstack"Raven commented
"Nicoles could summon a wyvern…wonder if she could"nadia added
"But your kid turned into a dog walker…..you adopted some weird kids in my opinion"diamona replied
"Like i explained early most of their armor forms in their family is linked to their parents. Either one of them could belong to his birth mother"ozpin reminded
The suit of armor looked down at its master as weiss stared up at her servant meeting it haze. The suit of armor then bend down to a knee and lowered it head like it was bowing to her ready to serve. Weiss gave a knight a bow in return but then a wave of exhaustion suddenly hit her as she went to a knee. Unable to maintain the focus the suit of armo began to vanish into blue particles as ruby, yang, falk, and adam rushed over to check on her as lazuli limps over which nadia noticed rushing down with diamona following.
"Dang weiss that was amazing. I didn't know you could do that"yang commented
"Yeah that was so cool."ruby added
"Thank you….though could someone help me. My legs feel like jello"Weiss said letting out a tired breath as falk walked over placing an arm under her knees and his other arm behind her back before lfitign her up bridal carry which caught weiss and everyone else offguard
"F-falk! What are you doing?!"weiss yelled with a race face
"Taking you somehwere to rest snow angel i wouldn't be a gnetlment then would i"falk replied before walking off with her in his arms
"Y-you don't have to carry me like this! Its e-embrassing!"Weiss shouted protesting her discomfort but he couldn't care less carrying her off to the dorms.
Yang gave a teasing whsitle"oh looks like she got their own prince charming"yang teased
"Good one though my ankle hurts…and this sucks"lazuli said as suddnelty adam saw her hurt before doing the same to her which caught them even more offguard
"W-what are you doing bullboy?! I can walk f-fine by myself!"lazuli yelled embraced
"Your hurt and need to rest for a bit it should heal in a couple hours"Adam said as yang teased her with a whistle as well.
"Well it seems you got one too wonder if you did that for my girlfriend at times"she teased as he didn't care for the comment internally screaming to himself.
"Can someone smack her for me please?!"lazuli shotued back and before yang knew it neo gave her a slap on the back of the head dusting her hand off.
Yang looked angrily toward neo"oh its on on pipsqeak!"yang shouted which in turn started a chase with yang being a chaser and neo the chasey as she had a big grin on her face knowing that yang could never catch her as everyone laughed at this but zane started to wobble before passing out on the floor
"Hey you good over their!"merucyr called out but all of them quickly noticed he passed out from exhaustion it seems
"So hes exhausted….alright which one of you are carrying him bridal style"nadia said teasingly to the two faunus as velvet lifted him up but surprsingly could carry him since she did train alot for that month but he was pretty light as he hung loose
"Bunny ears can lift him up pretty easy. Cute"daimona cooed making the girl slightly blush
"Well thats just funny….and now we can't ask him about his time with the military."nora said as some eyed her like she was crazy as above raven, qrow and ozpin could only look as the mother sweetdropped from this dispaly
"Like mother like daughter i suppose…you two are related"qrow replied
"Yeah yeah laugh it up. Like you and your daughter"raven groaned but then again they all needed a good laugh once in a while. It shows that they are still human and it gives them a sense of peace for how ever long it will last.
Adam carried lazuli into one of the unused dorms though she was still showing a face of great discomfort. He gently places her on one of the chairs to make her more comfortbale in which she was thankful for.
"Is that better?"he asked
"Y-yes"though next time seriously warn me when you're going to do that! It was the most embarrassing thing my life. I'm sure yang, my aunt, little sister will use that to tease me"lazuli replied crossed her arms.
"Wouldn't been worse if i carried you on my back?"adam questioned. Lazuli was about to retort to that but she realzied that he was right it would have been equally embarrassing
"Touche bullboy"lazuli replied
"For whats it worth i apolgize for that"he said with an apologetic look
Lazuli smiled back at him for a moment" Thanks. Though what are we going to do?"she asked
"I think i'll rest up for a while until ozpin calls for something he needs"Adam said and with that he turned to leave. However just before he did lazuli spoke up again
"Wait!"she said stopping him in his tracks.
"Yes?"he asked turning his head to meet her stare
"Um…i was wondering. If you aren't busy…would you like to grab some dinner tonight. I saw this restaurant when we were taken in. if thats okay with you?"she asked with a small blush on her face
At first adam ddint' say a thing as it made her worry if she might have screwed up but then he spoke up
"Seven o'clock. I'll come by and pick you up. Sound good"adam replied
Lazuli nodded"greats. Its a date. See you then"lazuli replied as dam left. That was when lazuli relaized what she just said to him as her face comply flushed as a bright red tomato.
"Why did i even say that? Its a date. God dammit that so cliche. Get a hold of yourself lazuli. I mean sure hes nice, handsome and…"that was when it dawned on her what she was saying
"Oh sweet brothers…i am falling for him…i might win the dumb bet"she thought as it lingered in her mind for a moment as she tried to process everything. What she needed was help and there was one of her friends that could help along with someone else…she just hopes she won't be teased too much.
Back with the others everyone had finished whatever training they did and were now looking about to find other things to keep themselves busy. Ruby went inside the lounge as she had some of her own concerns she wanted to bring up with her dad, raven and ozpin. She still feels bad for what happened early but wanted to ask something else. She went to where the three were talking but coudln't help but overhear what they were talking about through the door.
"Why can't we just grab the relic? We already know where it is and it would save us the trouble later"raven voice said
"Its not as simple as you like to believe. Yes while you could get into the vault using your maiden abilities but to get to the vault you need the artifact to go with it. The key to spring to be more accurate"ozpin added
"And thats the same for the rest of the vault as well. We got beacons at least"qrow replied
"You'd be correct. They were designed as a two layered security system. You can have the artifact but without the maiden powers you can't get into the vault or vice versa. It was to make sure no one cannot enter without having both at the same time"ozpin answered
"Well that makes things a little diffcult doesn't it. So what is this artifact that gets us down their?"raven questioned
"From what i could recall it is a ring. The ring of strength is the key that can get us into the vault. However from what i can tell no one here posses it. Perhaps maybe our allies that are coming from the air and those on the ground might. Maybe even ask the spider gang with that favor we have"ozpin mentioned
"If they can get here in time that is. Could call up those mercs maybe they had a decent base in vale."qrow added
"Also it would appear that we have some company. You can come in miss rose"ozpin said through the door. Ruby let out an eep like she had just been caught.
She gently opened the door to poke her head through"eh sorry…i um didn't mean to evasdrop"ruby said as she entered the room closing the door behind her.
"Something wrong kiddio. You look rather troubled by something you still upset about early?"raven said
Ruby stood their nerovusly trying to get her words out but trying to figure out how to say it makes it troubling for her as she fidgeted with her hands.
"Rubes. Take a deep breath and then say what you want to say alright"qrow instructed
Ruby did just that as she took in a deep breath, held it for about five seconds before letting it out slowly through her nose it helped her stop fidgeting with her hands
"Alright now say whats on your mind"qrow said
Ruby nodded as she started"i do feel bad for how i reacted early but i just hope to fix things. But when i fought tyrian in kuroyuri then when we fought selket. They both said the same thing how they would take me away to salem. Said how i was more important…that all grimm knights are hunting those down with silver eyes. What do they mean by that?"ruby asked
Raven, qrow and ozpin stared at each other for a moment before back to her.
"Kiddio come sit down and we'll talk"qrow said. Ruby found a spot near him to sit down.
"Do you know about the silver eyed warriors ruby?'raven asked as she shook her head
"Some people thought it was just a made up story buts in truth its very real. Said to be a gift from the brother of light. The lineage of silver eyed warriors is more ancient before you and i were even thought of. Said to be some fearsome warriors to this very day guessing those gravekeepers are too. Because ruby with their power they could preserve life but only if you have a strong desire to do so"qrow replied
"So kinda like me and bombay and um…bane for some reason. They have eyes like mine. And mom too but that doens't explain why they came after me. Why are they hunting them down"ruby said
"Becuse kiddio…they want to take you to their master….salem. She sees you as a threat and wants you dead with any other one that posses these silver eyes. Wu shui is gone though"qrow replied
"So that why he wanted me dead…and so do the rest of those grimm knights"ruby said almost disturbed by this fact.
"Don't worry about it too much kiddio. I won't let anything happen to you i promise. For now we've gotta formualtue a plan with this intel so that we can defend havan from the oncoming attack. We'll call up everyone when we have a plan"qrow replied
"Okay. maybe i'll see if mistral has a dust shop. I'm kinda running a little low"ruby replied
"Just stay away from the lower end ruby. Bad things happen down their but you don't want to get wrapped up in. though we will need to visit eventually"ozpin warned. Ruby nodded at this before exting the room.
Once she left ozpin turned to the twins with a concerning looks on their face
"You know thats not all they can do? Why hide that part?"ozpin said
"It almost happened back in deepwald and i don't want her hating herself for her eyes. I know that down the road she'll find out about the other power. I just fear she can't control it"qrow said before returning to the task at hand
A few hours past and lazuli was facing quite a dilemma as it was only five o'clock in the evening the sun just now starting to descend toward the horizon but it only made her feel more anxious about tonight as she actually never been on a date. Though if their was anything she needed dating advice and she knew two people that could help her but she feared they would tease her about it.
It almsot made her feel like she would die from embrassment but in her mind. She had made her mind up beginning to locate the two to help her and she had inde of where said person could be. She entered the academies training field and immediately saw beating the heck out of a punching bad as she delivered a fast yet powerful punche. Holding it was her aunt as next to her was onxyia.
"Oh uh their you two are…what are you doing here auntie"lazuli replied getting their attention
"Sup my only other nice. Nothing much sparring for a bit you need something?"nadia asked as yang wiped off sweat from her workout with a towel nearby.
"Actually yes. But its kinda of unfamiliar territory for me and i might need your help. But shouldn't you be waiting for Z uncle?"lazuli asked
"Oh him rember he said he be by later tonight remember. I hope it cheers him up"nadia said hopefully
"Though why are you here something juicy i guess. What is it?"yang said rather excited
"Have you ever dated someone because i'm so unfamiliar with it. And what does he like since you knew him"lazuli asked
Yang and onxyia stood their a moment not sure what to say to the thief as they let out a chuckle but nadia bursted into laughter pointing at her niece with a grin.
"So you're tell me that you've never dated anyone before"yang said
"How the heck is that possible because for someone your age i thought you meet someone let alone date someone at least"onxyia added baffle but still process what she heard.
Nadia walked over pinching her niece by the hips as she yelped"awww who is it? Because this is just aodabrle maybe you might win that dumb bet"she cooed as she removed herself from her
"Shut up! Seriously i just never fancied anyone kinda hard with my familys rep remeber. But um…."lazuli started but then stopped herself from saying anything more but her face had slightly blushed
That was when onxyia caught on as she knew who she was talking about
"Let me guess my best friend ex lover. Adam correct?"onxyia asked knowidgly. Instead of saying anything lazuli shyly nodded
"I'm guessing you actually like him…and hes not your prisoner"yang added
"Yes"lazuli muttered as she fidgetted from the thought
"Wow. never though i'd see the day that you're flustered about someone. You and your brother are always fighting over stupid things. Its cute"nadia said with a teasing smile on her face
"Are you going to stand their teasing me or are you going to help me? Go tease my cousin while your at it"lazuli replied as she was starting to lose her patients with them.
