Total Eclipse Saga Episode 13: Last Resort

Things have gone from bad to worse after Knuckles and Shadow battle against each other for the Master Emerald. Meanwhile, Eve and the others have been ambushed and defeated by Eclipse and his Dark Arms.

And now, Shadow and Knuckles are being dragged by the river in the Marble Garden on Angel Island. Luckily, the two are able to help each other out of the water and get on solid ground. After some deep breathing, and gathering their barings, they both glare at each other. And they both begin fighting again.

Knuckles shouts, "The Master Emerald stays put!"

"It's going in a vault!" Shadow shouts back.

The two continue fighting and roll on the ground.

"You should've taken Rouge's offer and evacuated!" Shadow angrily says and kicks Knuckles off of him.

"And then what?! Protecting the Master Emerald is my purpose! This island is my life!" Knuckles argues.

"Then find a new purpose. It is not easy - I know - but it can be done," Shadow says.

Shadow then prepares for another kick.

Knuckles shouts, "It doesn't need to be done! Now get off my -!"

Knuckles grabs Shadow's food, but then, the ground begins shaking. The two stop to feel the rumbling sound and feel the island moving.

Knuckles realizes the worst, "-Island…" Knuckles responds. But then, he realizes something, "I know that kind of tremor…" and realizes the worst, "THE MASTER EMERALD'S BEEN MOVED!"

Then glares at Shadow, "IF YOU HADN'T DISTRACTED ME-!"

"Quiet." Shadow sternly says. He then uses his earpiece to contact the others, "Rouge? Omega? Dr. Julian? Does anyone copy?"

Back at the Master Emerald Shrine, everyone is trying to recover from the attack. Eve slowly begins to regain consciousness as she grunts and groans in pain.

"Ugh, my back… my head…" Eve mutters in pain.

"Eve, you okay, girl?" Nic asks.

"I'm okay, but ow… that Eclipse really did a number on us," Eve says.

Rouge, still holding her dislocated arm, says, "Eve, thank goodness you're okay."

"Thanks, but your arm…" Eve says, noticing it.

Just then, Fixit gets a call, "Shadow is calling in for you, madam," and turns to Rouge.

"Just a minute," Rouge says. Then turns to Omega, "C'mon, Omega, my shoulder isn't going to set itself."

"This will hurt," Omega says.

"You of all people don't get to be squeamish. Do it!" Rouge says.

Omega uses his strength and mananges to fix Rouge's shoulder. Relic faints from sight and sound.

"That must be painful," Fiona says.

"Well, you and Nic weren't hurt too badly," Julie-Su says.

Then Omega turns to Julie-Su, "Do you wish to get fixed?"

"Yes," Julie-Su says.

Omega then does the same to Julie-Su's back like she did to Rouge's shoulder.

Yacker, Jade, and Jazz fainted as well.

Rouge takes the phone and answers, "Hello?"

Shadow answers, "Rouge? Why aren't Omega and the Doctor answering? Are you alright?"

Relic helps Julie-Su stand up after waking up. Fiona and Nic check on Eve, who seem to have been injured from the incident.

Rouge trying her best to not explode, "Omega's conserving power since Eclipse ripped out his Chaos Drive. Julian's tele-pod was blown up. And 'Su and I are a second away from barfing. Eve was knocked out for a little and the rest of Team Treasure was injured. Y'know why?" And with that, Rouge explodes, "Because all of this would've been avoided if you two muscle-brains had just talked instead of fighting like CHILDREN! And now we're all weakend and Eclipse is escaping with the Master Emerald! WAY TO GO, BOYS!"

Knuckles and Shadow glare at each other.

Shadow has to admit, ". . . She's right."

"I know. That's what's so infuriating," Knuckles says.

"Yes, well. She wasn't shouting into your mini earpiece," Shadow says.

Then Knuckles says, "But we found his shuttle. And it's busted! How is he getting off the island?"

"He can't, unless…" Shadow says.

He then asks Rouge, "Rouge, does he know about our shuttle?"

"Yeah, he's heading for it now. He's got four wisp-like creatures backing him up. He calls them 'Dark Arms.'" Rouge says.

"You guys landed in the Launch Base, right? I know every shortcut on the island! We can cut him off!" Knuckles says.

"We don't know how much of a lead he has on us. We need a way to slow him down," Shadow says.

"Well don't look at us. We're in no position to chase him, let alone fight him," Rouge says.

But Realize remembers something and takes Fixit's hand phone, "Pardon the interruption, but - Knuckles? When I first met you, you warned me to beware of all the traps on the island. Is there some way we can use those against Eclipse?

"There are hidden traps across the island?" Shadow asks.

"Yeah, built a long, long time ago by my people when the island first took to the sky. They're supposed to be a secret . . ." Knuckles says.

Shadow points out, "We're running out of time!"

"Grr…" Knuckles responds in frustration, "There are a few command hubs hidden on the island! Tell them to cross the bridge to the mainland. There's a cave leading right into the mountain. If they follow the left wall, they'll find a small hidden alcove. It's hidden and easy to miss. After that, it's a short walk to the Control Hub."

The group follows Knuckles' instructions and soon finds the Control Hub.

Relic is amazed, "Oh, my gracious . . .! This is positively splendid! And ancient! It looks like it pre-dates even the echidnas' dynasty, meaning . . ."

"Easy Relic, we need to focus on the task," Julie-Su says.

"I'm amazed Sonic and I have never seen it before," Eve says.

"Do you know how to work this?" Rouge asks Relic.

Relic sheepishly answers, "N-No. I'm rubbish with computers. Modern or ancient."

"We'll, I'm a quick study. Let's see if I can at least find…" Rouge says, and places her hand on the pod.

Soon, one of the monitors shows Eclipse appearing on screen, walking out of the tunnel.

"Got him. He's in Sandopolis," Rouge says.

"He's really far from here," Eve says.

"Great! That place is a pain to travel through. Have them slow him down! Now follow me!" Knuckles says.

"Did you get all that?" Shadow asks.

"We got it," Rogue says.

"Good. Then we're on our way!" Shadow says.

"I'm going over! I know a quick way to get there from here!" Eve says.

"But Eve…" Shadow says, concern.

"I know, but I gotta do something. There's something strange and familiar about those Dark Arms," Eve says.

"How so?" Relic asks.

"Well, the way he fuses with those aliens and uses their powers, They… they remind me of when Sonic and I were assisted by the Wisps with their…" But then Eve gasps in shock.

"What wrong Eve?" Fiona asks.

"Yeah. You look a bit pale," Nic says.

"Hyper-go-on," Eve says.

"What?" Relic questions.

"Hyper-go-on! They're the wisps' life source. They share their powers to those they're close with. That's how Sonic and I were able to help them free their planet and the others Eggman used for his theme park," Eve says.

Fiona asks, "Are you saying those Dark Arms are really…?"

"Wisp Black Arm Hybrids," Eve says.

Yacker and Jade nod and panic as they try to explain themselves.

"I have no clue what they're saying," Julie-Su says.

"Well, we can't worry about that now. I need to get there, now," Eve says.

"Be careful, Eve!" Nic asks.

"I will," Eve says.

Tacker and Jade then talk to Eve.

"You both want to join too?" Eve asks.

They both nod.

"I'm going too," Julie-Su says, and brings out her gun, "I'm going to help my boyfriend!"

"Then hang on, everyone!" Eve says.

Yacker and Jade hang on to Eve's quills as Julie-Su wraps her arms around Eve. Eve then speeds out of the room.

"Even if we manage to stop Eclipse . . . Then what? What if Knuckles has to . . .?" Julie-Sy says, sounding concerned.

'Slow him down,' Easy for you to say. I'm not even sure what I'm doing," Rouge says.

Then Relic says, "Perhaps it's an intuitive system? The Trolls of the Second Great Civilization had many crystalline . . ."

"Do you mind?" Rouge questions.

In Sandopolis, Eclipse and the Dark Arms still have the Master Emerald in tow. Just then, rocky pillars rise from the ground.

"What the-?" Eclipse exclaims.

Eclipse then uses his tail to slice the sandy pillar in pieces. At the same time, the Dark Arms are getting tired.

Eclipse says, "I know it's heavy! I know it's hot! I've got sand in places I didn't know I had! But we need this thing if we're going to have the power to devour this world! So move it!"

The Dark Arms continue on as they carry the Master Emerald.

However, Eclipse continues to run into more traps, and each time he needs the Dark Arms help to repel, fight, or even out of the situation.

Meanwhile, Knuckles and Shadow go through a secret passage and a tunnel that leads them to a quicker way to the Launching base.

At the same time, Eve continues using his speed to get through Sandpolis, but in a different direction so Eclipse and the Dark Arms don't notice them. To help get there faster, Yacker uses his Boost abilities on Eve to increase her speed as Jade uses her Ghost power on Julie-Su to help phase through places and fly across the area.

Soon enough, Shadow and Knuckles are able to reach the snowy mountain area close to where the base is.

Time has passed, and Eclipse along with his Dark Arms reach the Launch Base, and they're all very exhausted.

Eclipse lets out a breath, "Once we've taken this thing's power… we'll sink this stupid, hateful island… to the bottom of the ocean…" But then he notices something, "Wait a minute… THERE! That's got to be it!"

And what he and the Dark Arms see is the shuttle that Team Dark and Team Treasure use to get to the island.

And with that, the group begins to rush over to him.

Eclipse says, "Come on, little ones! We're home free!"

But a Chaos Spear hits the ground close to Eclipse. Soon, Shadow and Knuckles arrive to attack.

"Of course he shows up…" Eclipse says angrily. Then says to the Dark Arms "Get to the shuttle little ones! I'll teleport our prize the rest of the way!"

Eclipse tries to teleport the Master Emerald.

But before he can do so, someone zips at Eclipse with a spin dash and knocks him off the Master Emerald. Shadow and Knuckles stop to see Eve landing on the ground as Yacker fuses out of her body. Soon, a green ghost arrives and defuses to reveal Julie-Su and Jade. Seeing them surprise both Shadow and Knuckles.

"Eve?!" Su?! What are you two doing here?" Knuckles asks.

"Helping you two," Julie-Su says.

"Yeah. Think you can keep us from the action, you've got something scrambling your heads," Eve says.

Shadow smirks, "Aren't you a couple of stubborn girls?"

Knuckles smiles, "Of course. Should've known that we couldn't keep you away from a fight."

"Thanks," Julie-Su says.

"Now let's take down this creep," Eve says.

Eclipse mananges to stand up, "Well, at least I can kill you two and take the-!"

But then, Knuckles punches Eclipse in the face. Then pins him to the ground. Julie-Su points her gun at him.

Knuckles is also ready to punch him, "Nothing personal. But if I have to shatter something today, it's gotta be you!"

"And don't even think of trying anything, or else!" Julie-Su saus.

But then Eclipse shouts, "Blurk! Cregal! Cyzer! One of you! Grant me your power and get these savages off me!"

Soon, the Dark Arms, minus one rush in to defend him.

Cregal fuses with Eclipse, making his wings and smacks both of them off of it.

"Didn't expect these powers, did you simpletons!?" Eclipse says before taking flight.

Eve turns to Yacker, "No, but I do!"

Eve then spin dashes as Yacker fuses to increase her boost. That knocks Eclipse down.

"Smart," Shadow says.

"Thanks, but be careful. Those Dark arms are hybrids of the Wisp who use a special power called Hyper-go-on," Eve says.

"So that's what it is. And if they're also Black Arms…" shadow says.

"Yeah. I realize that the reason why Yacker and Jade are here. They came because Eclipse and the Black Arms invaded their planet and they were forced to flee," Eve says.

"Should have known," Shadow says.

Soon, Shadow and Eve charge to attack Eclipse.

"OW . . . Darn it. It's just like I thought! I'm too worn out to keep up the fight…" Knuckles says in thought."

Knuckles watches as Shadow and Eve are fighting Eclipse.

"And after all the fighting they've done today, Shadow, Eve, and even Su must be hurting, too," Knuckles says.

Julie-Su soon joins the fight and fires her gun at Eclipse and Eve punches him.

Knuckles turns to the Master Emerald, "We can't lose this fight. If we do, Eclipse will use the Master Emerald to empower his monster babies-or whatever they are…"

Soon, Shadow and Eve spin dash, but Eclipse has Blurk to create the armor and repel their attacks and Julie-Su continues to fire her gun at him.

"But if we win, Shadow's going to take it anyway. The whole trip here, I've been racking my brain, but the only way I can stop them both is…" And soon, Knuckles clenches his fists in anger.

Julie-Su lands on the ground after being knocked down by Eclipse, but notices the frustrated expression on his face. She has a feeling why. Julie-Su walks to Knuckles, places her hand on his shoulder, and gives her a soft nod. Knuckles nods back. He then approaches the Master Emerald.

Meanwhile, Blurk fuses out, feeling tired.

"Blurk? Buddy. C'mon, we're not finished yet," Eclipse says.

He turns to the other two, showing exhaustion, "Cyzer? Cregal?"

"It's over, Eclipse," Eve says.

"You're finished," Shadow adds.

Eclipse angrily says, "Oh, shut up! You can barely stand!"

Suddenly, they hear Knuckles calling out, "'The servers are the seven Chaos. Chaos is power enriched by the heart…." The three turn to see Knuckles having his hand placed on the Emerald, "'The controller serves to unify the Chaos,' and Knuckles has a saddened expression on his face, "'You are in danger. I have to send you away. I will find you and unify you again. I'm sorry."

Knuckles lets out a loud scream as his fist is energized with Chaos Energy. Then punches the Master Emerald, causing it to break into multiple pieces.

"NO!" Eclipse cries out.

Then multiple flashes of green light and the pieces are sent flying in all directions through Mobius.

"Why would you do that!?" Eclipse exclaims.

"Was that . . . Chaos Control . . .?" Shadow questions.

Eve realizes in thought, "Knuckles must have done it to protect the Master Emerald."

Just then, Knuckles flies to Eclipse and punches him in the face, very hard.

Knuckles gives him a vicious glare, "You made me do the one thing I swore I'd never do again!" and actually making Eclipse flinch.

Just then, Rhygenta, the music note Black Arm begins to merge with Eclipse arm.

Still weakened, Eclipse begs, "Rhygenta . . . No . . . They'll kill us both . . ."

But suddenly, his arms turn magenta with a single eye at the end. And suddenly, lets out a sonic blast or a powerful sound wave, knocking everyone away. It ends up knocking everyone out.

Eclipse is surprised as Rhygenta fuses off of him, seeing how strong and powerful she is, and how much she is willing to help. However, he can see it took a lot out of her. With the Master Emerald gone, the two hedgehogs and echidnas knocked out, Eclipse picks up his Dark Arms, and climbs inside the shuttle. He then uses the shuttle to take off and leave the island. However, his desire for revenge lingerie in his mind.

But by the time the group regain consciousness, Eclipse and his Dark Arms are long gone, along with the shuttle.

The next day, a GUN Carrier arrives at the island with soldiers and scientists from the tele-pod to gather the wrecked alien shop. Along with Dr. Julian and his wife Amber.

Dr. Julian calls out, "Careful, careful! I want as much of that alien vessel intact as possible!"

"We don't want any loose ends here!" Amber adds.

Soon, Knuckles, Julie-Su, Team Treasure and Team Dark arrive, along with the wisps.

"Ah, Team Dark! Team Treasure! Good to see you back in one piece! There's a shuttle waiting to take you back to the carrier," Dr. Julian says.

"And Knuckles and Julie-Su are with you too," Amber says, "Come to see our work?"

"Yes. And as soon as you get that trash off my island, I want you gone," Knuckles says.

"Of course, of course. G.U.N. would like to thank you for . . . We'll, most of your cooperation," Dr. Julian says.

Just then, seeing them more closely, Knuckles, Julie-Su, and Team Treasure realize who the two scientists really are.

Knuckles is the first to speak out, "Wait a minute . . . Don't I know you two from somewhere?"

Both scientists start to get nervous, and Amber hides her face behind her clipboard.

Dr. Julian tries to calm down, "O - Of course! We were on the screen of the tele-pod that -"

That's when Eve, Knuckles, and Julie-Su realize, "SNIVELY!"

Then Nic turns to Amber, "And the same goes for you, you're the Iron Queen, aren't you?"

Knuckles jumps towards Snively and glares at him, "I don't know what you and your Iron Queen are doing with GUN, and frankly, I don't care! You can have the alien junk, you . . . You - GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!"

Dr. Julian yelps and ends up landing in his wife's arms, "Yeep! Y - Y - Yes, sir!"

"Okay okay, no need to lose your temper," Amber says. Then takes her leave with her husband.

Eve turns to her group, "I knew those two look familiar."

"Yeah. What are Snively and the Iron Queen doing with GUN?" Fiona asks.

"Who knows, but from the looks of it, those two have been quite busy since the incident at the Dragon Kingdom," Nic says.

Julie-Su turns to Rouge, "You keep some questionable company."

"Comes with the job," Rouge says.

"Whatever, Rouge," Fiona says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz replies.

Then Rouge turns to Knuckles, "Smart move with the Master Emerald, by the way."

"Huh?" Knuckles says, confused.

"You kept it out of everyone's hands, and now you can piece it back together while the rest of us are busy, distracted with other things. Of course, with the island floating on water, it should be safe for a while. Pretty cunning, handsome."

"...Thanks, but it never should've come to this," Knuckles replies.

"Yeah. When we told Locked what happened, he was shocked, but he understands that it needs to be done to protect the Emerald," Julie-Su says.

"Take care, Knux, 'Su. Until next time," Rouge says, calling out.

Then Knuckles says, "Hey, Rouge?"

"Yeah?" Rouge questions.

Knuckles smirks, "Tell Shadow that he's a jerk."

Rouge laughs at that as they take her leave.

"Everything's sorted, then?" Relic asks.

"I guess," Julie-Su saus.

She then says, "Y'know, I'm sure the Captain of that Carrier would take you home if you wanted."

"That would probably be the smart thing to do, but I can't bring myself to leave this place. And I promised I would help you both look after it. I can't do much, but a promise is a promise," Relic says.

"Thanks Relic," Knuckles says.

"I will endeavor to assist her as well, sir, miss," Fixit says.

"Heh. Thank you too, Fixit," Julie-Su says.

"What will you do now?" Nic asks.

"We need to find the shards of the Master Emerald," Knuckles says.

Soon, Jade and Yacker fly over.

"Well, at least they managed to decrease your load a little," Eve says.

Jade then flies to Knuckles and presents a Master Emerald piece. Jade talks in language and gives it to Knuckles.

"I have to guess Jade found it at the launch base," Eve says.

Knuckles calmly smiles and pat Jade on the head, "Thanks Jade."

Jade smiles and blushes a bit.

"Well, with one piece down, now Su and I need to find the rest of the shards," Knuckles says.

Then turns to Eve, "I'm guessing it's back to Freedom HQ for you."

"Yeah. We gotta get back. Knowing Eggman, he's planning on something," Eve says.

"And We've been gone for a while," Nic says.

"Darned if you do, darned if you don't, eh?" Relic says.

"Tell me about it," Knuckles says.

"We'll grab the Chaos Emerald we got from the Chaotix and see if we can find Sonic," Julie-Su says.

"And I'll see what we can do on our end," Eve says.

Yacker and Jade chat with smiles and stay with Relic.

"I'll keep an eye on things while you're gone then," Relic says, "I believe Jade and Yacker plan to do the same.

"But remember, it's not easy to track down Sonic, or me for that matter," Eve says.

Knuckles scoffs with a smirk, "Pssht. Easy? You two are trouble magnets."

"Hey!" Eve says, offended.

Meanwhile, somewhere on Mobius, in a forest-like area, the GUN Shuttle Eclipse stole, has crashed into the ground, and it remained hidden. Eclipse and the Dark Arms remained inside, resting and Eclipse also plots for his revenge.
