Episode 470: The Celestic Town Contest
Before we begin with his chapter, I thought I shall share that I plan on introducing a new OC into this one. She's going to be Fantina's niece, and she'll be given Fantina's Japanese name. That's what I wanted to say.
(Flashback)
Young Johanna has made it to the final round of the Pokémon Contest. Young Johanna wore a blue dress and an apron as young girl around Johanna's age has light skin, maroon eyes. She wore a lavender kimono and has her regal purple hair styled in buns. Young Johanna had her Glameow as the girl has her Delcatty. The clock was down to thirty seconds left as the young Coordinators both had equal scores.
"Glameow! Iron Tail!" Young Johanna ordered. Glameow went and twirls Delcatty in its curly tail. Both feline Pokémon spun around in the air. Glameow lands on its side as Glameow lands on its feet.
"Well done! The way Johanna's Glameow utilizes its opponentss momentumto make its pose is nothing less than outstanding!" The emcee announced.
"Oh, really?" The girl asked. The Delcatty vanished, revealing to be a fake.
"Lila's Delcatty was a decoy! So then, where's the real Delcatty?" The emcee asked.
"Delcatty! Use Shock Wave, now!" The girl ordered. Delcatty came at Glameow and lands in its curly tail and gave a powerful Shock Wave onto Glameow.
"Glameow!" Young Johanna gasped.
"And the flowers have bloomed!" The girl proclaimed. She does a pose, taking out a hand fan.
"And there it is! Lila's famous Tiger Lily smile!" The emcee announced. Johnanna has lost some points as the clock runs out. "Times up! And our big winner is Lila from in Celestic Town!" Young Johanna and Lila went up to each other and shook hands.
"An excellent battle, Lila," young Johanna said.
"Johnanna, you put up a great fight!" Lila said. The crowd kept on cheering.

Shortly after taking their leave of the Battle Tower on Mount Coronet, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel arrived to Celestic Town. The first thing the couple did was come to the Pokémon Center to have Pikachu, Torterra, and Abomasnow healed from their past injuries. Sora didn't wait long since his Pokémon to be healed. Along the way, Sora exchanged Bronzong for Stunky.
"You feeling better, buddy?" Sora asked.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"Great," Sora said, petting his partner.
"Excuse me," a girl's voice spoke from behind, grabbing Sora's attention. Sora turned to see a girl who is a younger version of Fantina, having the same hairstyle, and wore purple clothing, much like the Hearthome City Gym Leader, but it's a purple blouse and pants, and purple shoes. And she lacks the French accent. "Aren't you Sora Ketchum, the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn?"
"Yeah, I am, and no, in case you're asking, I'm not gonna go out on a date with you," Sora said. His Croagunk came out of his Pokéball, ready to strike.
"Oh, no, no, no, it's not that. I don't wanna date with you," the girl said. Croagunk stands down. "I just wanted to meet you since I heard about you from my aunt," he girl said, leaving Sora puzzled.
"Your aunt?" Sora asked.
"Oh, you don't know! My aunt is Fantina, the Hearthome City Gym Leader. I'm her niece by the way. My name's Melissa, and like my aunt, I specialize with Ghost-type Pokémon," Melissa said.
"Is that so?" Sora asked.
"Yeah. In fact, my aunt is the reason I'm here because she's going to be judging in this contest," Melissa said.
"I figured she'd be out an about again by now. Any special reason why you're looking for her?" Sora asked.
"I'm glad you asked. I was going to ask her if I could act as the Gym Leader on her behalf since she's always stepping out, leaving no one to take care of it while she's gone," Melissa said.
"Is that right?" Sora asked.
"Yeah. I wanted to be a Gym Leader for a long time, and I thought this would be perfect to ask her before she heads off for the next Pokémon Contest," Melissa explained.
"So the reason you wanna be a Gym Leader was because you wanna help out your aunt, isn't it?" Sora asked. "You'd be in charge of the Gym while your aunt gets to judge Contests, and traveling Trainers will get a chance to challenge the Hearthome City Gym, and everybody's happy."
"That's right," Melissa said.
"Well, I hope your aunt will go along with it, Melissa," Sora said.
"Me too. I just wanted to meet you. And since we're on the subject, have you seen my aunt by any chance?" Melissa asked.
"No, sorry," Sora said.
"Oh. Guess that would have been too easy. Thanks anyway," Melissa said.
"No problem," Sora said.
Meanwhile, Kairi is training hard for the Contest, deciding to go with Arcanine and Electrode for the Contest.
"Arcanine! Flamethrower!" Kairi ordered. Arcanine fired his Flamethrower, creating a flaming ring of fire. "Now, use Extreme Speed!" Arcanine dashed at the ring of fire and jumped through it like a lion jumping through it in a circus. "That was great, Arcanine! Now, let's go with you, Electrode! Rollout!" Electrode uses Rollout to roll around and around and struck some Heartless dummies. "Great! Now, use Thunderbolt!" Electrode unleashed Thunderbolt. Seed Bomb!" Electrode fired a Seed Bomb.
"That's impressive," a voice spoke. Kairi turned to see a woman with fair skin, maroon eyes and regal purple hair. "I take it that you're participating in the Celestic Town Contest as well."
"Yeah. Are you taking part of it?" Kairi asked.
"Guilty as charged. My name's Lila. I'm the owner of the local fashion store," Lila said.
"Oh, are you a Pokémon Stylist?" Kairi asked.
"Yes. I've became one since I retired from being a Coordinator," Lila said.
"Really?" Kairi asked.
"Of course, Kairi," Lila said.
"You know me?" Kairi asked.
"I've been watching your career since Hoenn. I was amazed by the fact you won the Hoenn and Kanto Grand Festivals. I saw you in the Lisia Cup," Lila said.
"I did my best in the Lisia Cup and I plan to the same for the Contest," Kairi said.
"I don't doubt it, Kairi. Looking forward in seeing you there," Lila said.
"You too," Kairi said as she and Lila shook hands.
Over to Sora and Pikachu, they were watching something on TV along with some of the other Trainers. It shows an old TV show entitled Gliscorman.
"And now, back to Gliscorman!" A voice announced. The screen shows a man wearing a Gliscor-themed costume. He had a large cape as the teenage boy wore a Gligar-themed costume. Coming before the duo is a man, in a white lab coat and wore a king's crown.
"Creaking rusty gears, Gliscorman! It's the Robot King!" Gligarboy gasped.
"I see him, Gligarboy," Gliscorman said.
"Go, get them, robots! Crush them!" The Robot King ordered, laughing. Several men, wearing robot suits came running and the twosome fought the men. POW! CLAMP! CRACK! THWAP! The group watched the fight go on, hearing the sound of metal hitting the ground, knowing the crew were throwing it. It went on until Gliscorman and Gligarboy has cuffed the Robot King and some metal were scattered all over the ground, indicating that they were broken down. The fight goes on with the Robot King being arrested.
"Good work as always, Gliscorman! You sure have put a real number on Robot King's two week crime spree," the commissioner said.
"All in the day's work, commissioner. But as long as crime is still rampant, Gliscorman takes to the sky!" Gliscorman said as he and Gligarboy uses the wings on their costumes to go up.
"Once again, the day is saved, for now!" The announcer announced.
"Totally different from the movies, don't you think?" Sora asked his partner.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Kairi and Angel came up to their boyfriends.
"Hey, get some training done, Kairi?" Sora asked his girlfriend.
"Yeah, so Angel and I to come and spend some more time with you," Kairi said, lovingly. Sora blushed.
"Which Pokémon are you going to be using for the Contest?" Sora asked.
"I thought of using Arcanine and Electrode for the Contest," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"That would undoubtedly knock everybody's socks off to see some rare Pokémon," Sora said.
"Yeah, but having rare Pokémon isn't enough. It's all about the appeals," Kairi said.
"You're right, Kairi. But whatever you got cooked up is what you're gonna do," Sora said. "Anyway, you're not gonna believe who I met here."
"Who?" Kairi asked.
"I met Fantina's niece just when I was picking up Pikachu, Torterra, and Abomasnow. She said she came here looking for Fantina," Sora said.
"I didn't know Fantina had a niece," Kairi said.
"Neither did I until I met her. She told me she's planning of taking over the Gym for her aunt while she's out judging Contests," Sora said.
"That sounds reasonable," Kairi said.
"Yeah, and she seems dead serious, too," Sora said.
"Well, Melissa sounds like she'll make a great Gym Leader," Kairi said.
"I don't doubt it," Sora said.
"Since you met someone interesting, I thought I'd share I met a Pokémon Stylist here in town," Kairi said.
"Really?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, she caught a glimpse of me practicing, and she's planning in entering the Contest, too," Kairi said.
"Sounds like you got a fierce competition. That makes it more fun," Sora said.
"You've said it," Kairi agreed.
On the very next day, it was time for the Celestic Town Pokémon Contest. Before Fantina could take her role as a judge, Melissa approached Fantina.
"Aunt Fantina, I'm glad I caught up with you," Melissa said.
"Melissa? What are you doing here? I thought you were at home," Fantina said.
"I was, but I came all the way from Hearthome City to have an important talk with you," Melissa said.
"Whatever it is, cheri, it'll have to wait. I have a Pokémon Contest to judge. We will have this discussion as soon as the Contest is over," Fantina said.
"But, Auntie!" Melissa said.
"And not before! Compris?" Fantina asked in a stern tone.
"Oui, Aunt Fantina," Melissa said.
"Very well. Now, go find a seat," Fantina said. Melissa knew better than to argue with her aunt, so she did what she was told. As soon as Melissa found a seat, the Celestic Town Pokémon Contest has officially begun.
"Ladies and gentlemen, look around you. Feel the excitement! With every step we take together, we make history! And history's about to b e made again, because Marian's back in Celestic Town! Which means of course, the time for the Celestic Town Pokémon Contest is here!" Marian announced as the crowd cheers.
"Yeah, yeah!" The crowd cheered.
"The Celestic Town Ribbon will be awarded to whichever Coordinator emerges victorious!And all Trainers who earn five Contest Ribbons will be admitted into the Sinnoh Grand Festival!" Marian announced. "And now, I have the honor of introducing our judges for today! First, our head judge and chief of Pokémon Activites Committee, Mr. Contesta!"
"Thank you! I look forward to witnessing the fruits of all the Coordinatorors' traning!" Contesta said.
"Next, we have the head of the Pokémon Fan Club, Mr. Suziko!" Marian announced.
"Hi, Celestic Town! You're remarkable!" Suziko said.
"And last but not least, it's the Hearthome City Gym Leader Fantina!" Marian announced.
"Truly lovely to see you all here today!" Fantina said.
"Alright, let's get things started! We'll get underway with the beautiful and always exciting appeals round! Presenting our first Coordinator! This lovely lady's making her first appearence in twenty years! Please welcome the Tiger Lily of Celestic Town, Lila!" Marian announced.
"Tiger Lily of Celestic Town?" Sora asked.
Lila took out a Pokéball in a Ball Capsule with a Flora Sticker C.
"Now, Cherrim, out you come!" Lila called out as she threw it. The Pokéball opens as purple flower petals come out with Cherrim in its Overcast form. Cherrim then transform into its Sunshine Form.
"The way Cherrim came out is like Lila never retired," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Cherrim, Magical Leaf!" Lila ordered. Cherrim unleashes Magical Leaf all around. "Sunny Day!" Cherrim brightens up the entire stadium in bright sunlight, making a lily made out fo sparkly lights. It captivates the entire audience.
"Celestic Town's Tiger Lily is still blooming!" Contesta said.
"Which means remarkable!" Suziko added.
"It feels like a flower has bloomed in my heart!" Fantina said
Other performances has gone and went as Coordinators had done their performances. A Delibird made fireworks thanks to Present, a Crawdaunt does a Bubble Beam dance, a Nosepass uses Sand Storm all around, a Donphan rolls around on the stage, and a daredevil Coordinator does a flying Silver Wind act performed by a Volbeat. It was now Kairi's turn o come on out.
"Up next, we have our next contestant, Kairi!" Marian announced. Kairi came out with a Pokéball in a Ball Capsule with a Fire Sticker A.
"Arcanine! Come out!" Kairi called out. Her Pokéball opened in a burst of flames as her Arcanine emerged from inside, much to everyone's surprise and awe.
"Amazing! A Hisuian Arcanine! I never thought I'd see one up close and personable!" Marian announced.
"Use Flamethrower!" Kairi ordered. Arcanine fired a Flamethrower, creating flaming rings. "Use Extreme Speed!" Arcanine ran in incredible speed and jumps through the flaming rings.
"Arcanine is jumping through the rings of its Flamethrower with Extreme Speed!" Marian announced.
"The use of Flamethrower and Extreme Speed is a creative combination, showing the beauty of Arcanine's movements!" Contesta said.
"Remarkable!" Suziko said.
"Fabulous! Just watching Arcanine jump through the hoops of fire makes me feel like a petite girl at the circus!" Fantina said.
Once Kairi's performance was done, Lila went up to her and she smiled.
"You were impressive out there, Kairi. Well done," Lila said.
"Thank you. You were amazing out there too," Kairi said.
"Well, be ready for anything, because when make it to the finals, just know I will give it all I got, so show me if your dad's skills has rubbed on you!" Lila said.
"Thank you for your patience! And now for the results! After careful consideration, the judges have made a decision! The following eight Coordinators will be moving right along to the next round!" Marian announced. "Now, take a look at the monitors!" The computer displays the eight finalists. Lila had made it in. And Kairi has been named as the eighth finalist. "Now, using the computer, we've randomly decided all our abttles for Round Two." The computer shuffles them and shows who will be battling who. It turns out that Kairi's the fourth battle and Lila's the first. "So have a look at our four pairings!" The crowd cheers.
Lila had won her first round against the Coordinator with her Delcatty. Kairi won her battle against the Coordinator with Delibird using Electrode. Lila won against the Coordinator with Crawdaunt as Kairi had won against the Coordinator with Nosepass.
"This is the last round that will prove if Kairi will earn her fifth Contest Ribbon," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"So! Following round after round of fierce battling, we now come to the final round! Over there we have Lila and over is Kairi!" Marian announced. "They got five minutes! Let's go!" The clock starts running as Lila took out a Pokéball in a Ball Capsule in a Party Sticker B. She threw it.
"Delcatty, out you come!" Lila called out. Delcatty came out with blue confetti. Kairi took out her Pokéball placed in a Ball Capsule with a Leaf Sticker A.
"Electrode! Go!" Kairi called out. Electrode came out while surrounded by four-leaf clovers all around.
"Thunderbolt!" Kairi ordered. Electrode fired a Thunderbolt at Delcatty.
"Substitute!" Lila ordered. Delcatty creates an exact copy of itself. When Thunderbolt had hit, it disappears in a puff of smoke.
"Lila starts things up with Substitute! Where could the real Delcatty be?" Marian asked.
"Shock Wave!" Lila ordered. Delcatty lands a Shock Wave, damaging Elctrode just a little due to its resistance to Electric-type attacks. Lila does her signature pose. "Well done, Delcatty! Yes! And the flowers have bloomed!"
"There it is! The famous Tiger Lily Smile!" Marian announced as Kairi had lost some points.
"Electrode! Use Thunderbolt, but upwards!" Kairi ordered. Electrode fires Thunderbolt and goes staright up. The attack struck Delcatty. "Now, use Rollout!" The Sphere Pokémon plows right into Delcatty with Rollout.
"Yes! Electrode starts up with Thunderbolt and then follows with Rollout!" Marian announced.
"Rollout gets stronger with every hit Electrode lands. And it's a good thing Kairi used Electrode because Delcatty's Cute Charm has zero affect on Pokémon who are the same gender or genderless," Sora said.
"Such a pretty flower deserves a tight, Delcatty, Sing, Please!" Lila ordered. Delcatty sang as multicolored music notes come and struck Electrode, but does nothing, much to Lila's surprise.
"Uh-oh! Delcatty's Sing didn't do a thing! Kairi's Hisuian Electrode must have Soundproof as an ability!" Marian announced.
"Awesome! Since Electrode's ability is Soundproof, any and all sound-based moves are useless," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee, vee," Angel said.
"Another flower doesn't bloom for me, but I can make up for it. Iron Tail!" Lila ordered. Delcatty came at Electrode with an Iron Tail.
"Dodge and use Seed Bomb!" Kairi ordered. Electrode dodged Delcatty's Iron Tail and fired Seed Bomb at the Prim Pokémon, but phased through it. "What the?"
"Could that be...?" Marian asked as the real Delcatty appeared. "Yes! Kairi and Electrode fell for another Substitute, courtesy of Delcatty!" Marian announced.
"Use Chloroblast!" Kairi ordered. Electrode unleashes a Chloroblast and it struck Delcatty on the mark. Electrode took some damage and decreased in speed.
"Electrode lands a beautiful hit with that dazzling Chloroblast! Kairi is making a big push, but how will Celestic Town's Tiger Lily push back?" Marian asked.
"Kairi's taking a big gamble with that move. Chloroblast not only it deals some recoil damage, but it also cuts the user's speed, too. Knowing Kairi, she's gonna make a big bounce," Sora said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"Yeah, I know, Angel," Sora said.
"Seed Bomb!" Kairi ordered. Electrode fired a Seed Bomb, hitting Delcatty.
"Iron Tail!" Lila ordered. Delcatty lands a hit onto the Sphere Pokémon. "Use Shock Wave!" Delcatty fired a Shock Wave.
"Thunderbolt!" Kairi ordered. Electrode fired Thunderbolt and blocked Delcatty's Shock Wave.
"Electrode cancels out Shock Wave with Thunderbolt!" Marian announced.
"Not bad, Kairi! I can expect no less Hoenn and Kanto's Top Coordinator," Lila complimented her opponent. "But only one of us is winning that Ribbon today! Flowers will bloom will bloom like never seen before on a grand scale! Delcatty! Use Shock Wave!"
"Electrode! Thunderbolt!" Kairi ordered. Electrode fires Thunderbolt and it collides with Delcatty's Shock Wave.
"Thunderbolt and Shock Wave are locked on! Which one will keep going with thirty seconds remaining?" Marian asked. Both have held on. It was anyone's guess on who would triumph over the other. Both were losing points at a rapid pace. Electrode's Thunderbolt has overpowered Delcatty's Shock Wave and landed a hit onto the Prim Pokémon. The clock has run out. "Time's up!" The scoreboard shows that Kairi has a little more than Lila does. "And the winner is Kairi!" The crowd cheered as Kairi had won. No one was more proud of Kairi than Sora was.
Delcatty felt bad for losing, so Lila went to comfort him.
"You were just great! Thank you, Delcatty," Lila said. She went up to congratulate her opponent. "Congratulations, Kairi. That was a great battle. You really are every bit of a Pokémon Coordinator as everyone says you are. You definitely earned your reputation," Lila said.
"Thank you, Lila," Kairi said. Kairi stood with Arcanine and Electrode as she is to recieve her fifth and final Contest Ribbon.
"And now, the chief of the Pokémon Activities Committee, Mr. Contesta will present our winning Coordinator, Kairi, with the Celestic Town Contest Ribbon!" Marian announced.
"Congratulations! That was quite a spectacle!" Contesta said. Kairi takes her final Ribbon. Now, she had all five of her Ribbons. All that was left was to cheer on Dawn in her Contests and her boyfriend in his upcoming Gym battles.
"Thank you very much, sir," Kairi said.
Meanwhile, Saturn stands before Cyrus in an undisclosed location.
"Master Cyrus," Saturn said.
"You may speak, Saturn," Cyrus said.
"Yes. I am having the plan to steal the Lustrous and Adamant Orbs simultaneously go into effect, and we will proceed with our plan as soon as you give the word," Saturn said.
"Excellent, Saturn. Rejoin the others and await your orders," Cyrus said.
"As you wish, Master Cyrus," Saturn said.
Back to Celestic Town, Melissa stood before her aunt to make this discussion.
"Now, Melissa, what is it that you wish to speak with me about?" Fantina asked.
"Well, Aunt Fantina, I wanted to tell you that I wish to run the Hearthome City Gym in your stead," Melissa said. Fantina looked at her niece, surprised.
"You want to run my Gym, Melissa? When did you decide this?" Fantina asked.
"I have been thinking about it for quite some time. I thought it would be fair to keep the Hearthome City Gym running while you were out judging Pokémon Contests throughout the Sinnoh region. That way, traveling Trainers will have the chance to challenge the Gym, and you would be judging Contests, and everybody is happy," Melissa said.
"I do admit, it is a promising proposition, Melissa, but I must ask, are you sure?" Fantina asked.
"Oui, Auntie. And I will promise you I will do everything that I can to be the kind of Gym Leader Hearthome City deserves," Melissa said.
"I know you can, dear niece. We will depart for Hearthome City in the morning. We will make a discussion with the Sinnoh Pokémon League Association and see if they approve of your proposition," Fantina said. Melissa smiled and hugged her aunt.
"Merci, Auntie! I will never forget this," Melissa said. Fantina hugged her back.
Meanwhile, Lila led the couple to a shop she owns since being a Pokémon Stylist, so Lila decided to let them have anything they want, free of charge.
"Kairi, to celebrate your win, I feel that you can pick out anything you like. All of it, is free. That goes for all of you too!" Lila said.
"Thanks so much, Lila!" Kairi all said.
"Yeah, it's really nice of you," Sora said.
Sora and Kairi's Pokémon went for whatever styles they liked.
Now that Kairi has earned all five of her Ribbons, the next order of business is going to be Sora's remaining Gym battles and the other four Battle Frontier facilities in Sinnoh. But the question is, what sort of evil plot could Team Galactic be cooking up? Find out as we continue.
