Jak sat at the starting line, the countdown about to start. Ashelin and Sig pulled up, almost protectively, beside Jak on the track. Jak scoffed to himself. He didn't need their help, he was a hero after all, he could look after himself, if anything, he should be protecting them. He glanced over and spotted Razer, Edge, and Shiv. His blood boiled. He wouldn't just race and win today, he'd kill all three. It was just a shame Cutter wasn't here, so he could take all of them out in one go.

"Jak, are you sure you're fine?" Daxter asked.

"Never better." Jak replied, as the countdown began.

Go.

And Jak gunned it. Pushing pedal to the metal, he set his sights on Razer. He zeroed in on him, tailing the other driver, trying to find an opening to fire at him. So focused on Razer, Jak nearly careened into a wall.

"Jak!" Daxter cried in warning, as Jak managed to turn at the last minute.

"Come on, come on." Jak growled.

Daxter could only stare at him in horror.

Jak followed Razer, and at a large clearing in the track, managed to get a clear sightline on that black and red vehicle.

Jak fired, peppering the hull with bullets, feeling immense satisfaction as each bullet hit their mark. Suddenly, Edje slammed into the side of him and knocked him off course. Daxter screamed, as Jak momentarily lost control, scraping the side of his car against the barrier. Jak growled, they knew he was focusing on Razer and were trying to stop him. Well, they wouldn't stop him, even if he got himself killed, as long as he took Razer down with him.

Jak regained control, Edje had now put himself between him and Razer. Well, two birds, one stone. Jak fired several missiles, and Edje swerved to avoid them. The third one he just missed avoiding, and it struck the back left tire. Edje skidded sideways, his car banking hard left. Jak maneuvered around him, and was now back behind Razer. He had another barrage of missiles with his name on it. Jak locked on, ready to fire.

"I've got you now!" Jak roared.

"Jak!" Daxter cried, and then suddenly everything went black.

Jak awoke groggily, his head pounding and his body feeling numb. He could hear a rhythmic beeping, some people talking. He moaned, where was he? What was going on? Jak felt a pair of hands on him. His adrenaline spiked. No! They were going to hurt him, going to violate him again! Jak thrashed, and suddenly more hands were on him, holding him down. He cried out, trying to fight these intruders off. But he couldn't see, everytime he opened his eyes his vision would swim, and god, his head! He felt something cool on his arm, then a sharp prick. They were cutting his arm off! They were going to chop off his limbs, so he couldn't fight back anymore. He felt his movements slow, the hot tears streaking past his closed eyelids. He couldn't stop them. It was happening again. He was going to die!

Jak opened his eyes again, bleary eyed, blinking, his vision slowly returned to him. He could hear the beeping and talking just like before, but now he realized; he was in a hospital. He glanced over at his arm, the one he thought they were trying to cut off. An IV, they had just been giving him an IV.

"You're finally up!" A loud voice boomed. Jak flinched, his head still throbbed painfully.

"You've been out for hours." Daxter said, lowering his voice, after seeing Jak's reaction.

Jak looked at Daxter, who carefully hopped up on the bed, his arm was in a sling.

"What happened?" Jak asked.

"The bit where you went psycho trying to chase down Razer, or the part where we got shot at and crashed?"

"I did?" Jak murmured, putting a hand to his head.

"I don't remember anything since this morning."

"What?!" Daxter cried.

Jak grabbed his head from the noise.

"What do you mean you don't remember?" Daxter continued.

"Well, I woke up this morning feeling awful, but then Dark started talking to me, telling me he'd take care of Razer for me. So I went into the closet and found our dark eco supply, and then…"

"But you didn't have the horns or hulk out or anything like that! You're telling me that that was all Dark?" Daxter interjected.

Jak grabbed a fistful of blanket.

"I, I think it was because I'm…" Jak clenched his fist in the blankets tightly.

"...because I'm in a weakened state right now, it was much easier for him to take over without having to transform."

Daxter sighed and put his hand on Jak's clenched fist.

"Hey, you're alright. I'm just glad you're still alive. You scared the shit out of me back there. Promise me you'll stay off the dark eco until this is all over?"

Jak nodded, wiping the tears that had formed from his eyes.

"D-Did, Did I kill Razer?" Jak murmured.

"No, unfortunately, but you actually managed to get one of his men, Edje."

"Edje? I killed Edje?" Jak leaned forward in disbelief.

"Yeah, the most normal looking of the bunch, not the guy with the cut off ears, or the freaky mask. You shot at him, and he lost control, he went right through the barrier." Daxter explained.

Jak lay back on the bed. A small smirk crossed his lips.

"Mizo's gunna be pissed."

"Hell yeah he is!" Daxter said, raising his fist in the air.
