TheAlienHeart: Hey there, just know that I appreciate you, lol. I appreciate the passion and I take it as a huge compliment that you're still here cause I know I've been torturing you for a while now haha. xD That said, let's not be too hard on her, she had to shield/harden her heart in order to avoid losing it entirely and actually becoming a monster, so she's lost important pieces of herself, she's not totally gone but she's not really whole either. Also, my bad, I definitely don't mean to make you miserable for two hours LOL.

Krumelmonster: That review nearly made me squeal and I rarely do that, hehe. Thank you soooo much!

Guest: hehe there you go, I got you. This one's for you! XD

To everyone who's just reading: I appreciate you too! xD

I promise there'll be light-hearted chapters still in part two, lol. For now, happy reading!

Bring Me to Life

The next morning, he looked and felt a lot better so Raven said he could go downstairs for breakfast if he was curious, which he obviously was. Garfield also thought maybe he could get some sort of useful information to give Nightwing to make up for however much money he'd had to borrow from Bruce Wayne. He was still in handcuffs, but Raven conjured some clothes on his body after helping him bathe again. So here he was, sitting across from Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Catwoman while Raven made him tofu and 7 Rings (Ariana Grande) played in the background. The empath did warningly tell her teammates to play nice before she left, but he was still a little nervous.

"So…" Harley charmingly rested her chin on her hands. "What's your childhood trauma?"

"I, uh…" The Changeling looked around unsurely.

Pamela rolled her eyes. "Honey, I told you, you can't just go around asking people that."

Garfield smiled. "Wait, honey? Are you two like, a thing?"

The blond Siren grinned brightly. "As a matter of fact-"

"Don't give him information to use against us. He's just searching for weaknesses." Catwoman said, caressing Salem's fur.

Ivy nodded and glared at him. "That's right. Just because Raven has some weird fetish on you, that doesn't mean you should feel at home."

"No, I really wasn't trying to-shit." The shapeshifter suddenly closed his eyes, because he could feel his insides being manipulated again.

Pamela smiled wickedly as she worked on altering his hormones at her will.

"Ivy…" Selina said warningly.

"Honey, stop. That's Raven's toy. She'll be angry." Harley whispered, as if they couldn't all hear her anyway.

"Relax, I'm not killing him." The redhead dismissed them before turning her attention to Beast Boy again. "You're gonna do something for me."

"Yeah?" Garfield felt absolutely compelled to do whatever she asked of him. Maybe wearing your heart on your sleeve unfortunately also really does make you a little easier to manipulate.

"Take the bacon. Now."

"I-I…I don't eat meat…" He frowned, struggling to resist the absurdly sudden sense of passion.

"You do now because I say so. Pick it up and eat it."

The Changeling started sweating because it got even harder to fight it once she made eye contact with him. He picked up two slices of bacon and grimaced at them. Wait, no. Please, no. I can't eat this.

"Go on. Eat it." Ivy insisted through a chilling grin.

"Maybe you should stop. What if he pukes?" Catwoman whispered.

"Shhh. Eat it, prisoner." Pamela repeated in a more demanding tone.

The shapeshifter resisted her immensely, but her hold on him just grew stronger and eventually he parted his lips as his hand approached his mouth. Fuck, I'm gonna do it. And then…someone else took over.

"Put that down, Garfield."

He exhaled in relief and dropped the bacon at the sound of Raven's voice. Then he glared daggers at Poison Ivy. "You were gonna make me eat bacon!? That is so uncalled for!"

The empath placed a plate of tofu in front of him while also glaring at the redhead. "What did I say?"

Pamela sighed. "…to play nice. But he was prying and looking for weaknesses!"

"I was not!" Garfield protested, eating a mouthful of tofu. "You called her honey and I was just asking to say that I fully support this!" He gestured between the two villains.

"Awwwe that is so sweet!" Harley squeaked.

He smiled at her. "Yeah. The Joker sucks."

The blonde's eyes twinkled. "Raven avenged me, you know?"

"Oh, I know." He nodded, chewing more tofu. "You should have seen what she did at that secret lab when she saved me."

"What did you do?" Catwoman asked the empath, now fully interested.

"She destroyed them. It was so wicked!" The Changeling said excitedly as Raven rolled her eyes. "First, the lights started flickering, right!? And then I was like, maaan you're so fucked!"

Raven remained mostly stoic while Garfield theatrically told the Sirens everything about his rescue in details and their eyes sparkled with mischief and interest, because they obviously loved that story. Even Pamela leaned forward.

The sorcerer dismissed the excitement that followed when he finished. "He's making it sound more dramatic than it was."

"I am not. It was super dramatic!" The shapeshifter exclaimed.

"I actually believe him." Selina said. "You can get intense when people touch your stuff, Raven."

The Changeling opened his mouth to argue that he wasn't stuff, but then he remembered she had implied he was her property and that was definitely meant to protect him, so he stayed silent and continued eating his breakfast.

Raven sighed, standing up. "Whatever, maybe it was a little dramatic. Listen, I need to meditate. Do I need to worry or-"

"No, go. We won't let Ivy mess with him or anything." Selina assured her.

Harley nodded enthusiastically in agreement.

The empath narrowed her eyes. They mean that. She turned to the redhead. "You know, you like plants, he likes animals. You should get along a little better."

Pamela rolled her eyes and stared at the Changeling again.

Garfield chuckled nervously. "Uh…so, humans suck, right?"

Raven smiled when she saw Poison Ivy's muscles relax. She went to her room and meditated for about two hours and as she came back, she could hear his raspy, clear, loud voice.

"…and I thought that I could have saved my parents, you know? Because I already had my powers. And I know it wasn't my fault, but I really can't help but feel like I could have done something. And then every time I mess up it takes me right back to that and I feel like a total and complete failure. Anyway, after that I got kidnapped by these criminals who forced me to use my powers to help them and then after I got rescued, my guardian was Galtry. And he sucked. He tried to kill me, actually. Doom Patrol saved me and I joined them, and that was better. I mean, Mento still gave me a hard time though…anyway I left and then I found the Titans. And I guess that's my childhood trau-waiiit." Garfield sniffed. "That's Raven."

"You can sniff her?" Catwoman asked, thoroughly amused.

"Yep. She smells like lavender."

"Garfield, don't tell them that stuff." The empath said, appearing out of thin air beside him. He used to avoid talking about any of this or he'd start crying.

"I didn't make him, don't look at me." Ivy said pointedly. "Your boy toy is just…unguarded."

"He's not my boy toy."

"Yeah, I wish." He said playfully, making them laugh and then beaming at her. "It's okay, I've been talking about it more openly now."

Raven smiled softly at him. "That's great, but…they might use it against you. They're mean."

"And risk making you mad and being turned into a rat or something?" Catwoman chuckled. "No, thank you."

"Yeah, I'm pretty much untouchable." Garfield smugly leaned back on the chair, smiling up at the empath. "No one wants to get on your bad side."

Raven rolled her eyes. "You're not that untouchable. You are wearing a collar."

He blushed and chuckled sheepishly. "Right…but the guy who put it on me is a dog now!"

"Well I can't just go turning everyone to…" The empath gave up on trying to reason with him because he wouldn't stop grinning, so she sighed and rubbed her temples. "Fine. Just go back to my room."

"Yes, my dark queen." Garfield said cheekily as he went back upstairs.

Raven buried her face in her hand while the others chuckled. The shapeshifter walked away slowly so he could hear what they were saying with the help of his heightened hearing.

"Well?" Raven asked.

"Okay, he's not that bad." Poison Ivy admitted.

"Salem adores him, that's a good sign." Selina pointed out.

"I definitely see why you like him so much!" Harley squealed. "He's adorable!"

"Yes, I'm aware." The empath said blankly.

She still thinks I'm adorable. Garfield couldn't contain the size of his grin or the fluttering of his heart as he entered her room. He argued with himself for a few minutes as he waited there alone. I should try to find something to give the Titans the upper hand, right? I mean, that would be the heroic thing to do…but…would it? She saved me. She's healing me. And I can't betray her trust again. He sighed and sat on her bed to wait for her. It didn't take long this time and soon enough, Raven opened her door.

"You're not sneaking around." She pointed out, slightly surprised.

He thought about joking or flirting, but then he decided to be honest. Honesty worked so well last night. "I'll never betray you again. No matter what you do."

Raven inhaled sharply and a lightbulb exploded in the corridor. Change the subject, this is dangerous territory. "So…I'm taking a day off today." She rolled her eyes when he beamed at her. "But I need to rest a little before I keep healing you. I had to spend some energy making them forget all the vulnerable stuff you told them about your childhood. Don't worry; they remember the rest of your bonding session."

Garfield bit his lip. He did realize he'd opened up too much. She's still taking care of me. "Oh, that…you didn't have to do that."

"Yes, I did." The sorcerer said pointedly, sitting beside him on the bed. "I like them, but I don't trust them. I did it to protect you."

I know you did. He smiled lovingly at her. "Thank you. I'm sorry I'm so dumb and overshared."

Raven frowned slightly. "You're not dumb. Listen…"

She moved to look directly into his eyes and Garfield held his breath, because he was once again trapped in her gaze and unable to look away.

"I know I've told you this before…but maybe this time you can actually believe me." Raven said in a kind voice. "You were just a kid when you got your powers. You had no one to guide you through them because no one understood. You were just a kid when your parents died. All that shit that happened. None of that was your fault. You are not a failure. You are wonderful."

That caught him off guard. The shapeshifter had to fight back the urge to sob into her shoulder. Instead he just looked down and wept. She waited until he wiped his tears on the back of his hands. "I…I miss you so much." He looked up with wide, regretful eyes the second he said it. Don't make her feel bad, jerk. "Sorry, that wasn't fair. I meant…thank you."

Her frown immediately disappeared. "I mean it."

"I know." Garfield chuckled and sobbed at the same time. "I…I can't believe you're saying this to me after what I did to you."

Raven tilted her head slightly and reached out to gently wipe his wet cheek with her thumb. He immediately stopped moving and closed his eyes, relishing in her touch.

"You made a huge mistake with me. But that doesn't change who you are. You're a good person and a hero. Okay?" She said softly. When he smiled gratefully through the tears, her heart involuntarily soared. Dangerous territory again. Raven cleared her throat. "So, um…let's watch a movie so I can recharge and heal you again."

They watched two movies – a psychological horror flick and a comedy – and had some lunch before she resumed healing him. And then it got really intimate, because she healed him slowly as they cuddled and lazily watched a show Starfire liked – and luckily it didn't require paying too much attention to it, because they were gazing lovingly at each other the whole time.

At one point, Salem climbed onto the bed with them again and nestled on Garfield's stomach. The shapeshifter caressed his fur and chuckled and Raven almost leaned in to kiss him. Instead, she tenderly closed his eyelid with her finger and allowed her magic to heal his black eye. He kept leaning into her touch and melting under it, appreciating every moment. He thought of a thousand things to say and kept them all to himself, because he didn't want to risk ruining this. She even healed the scars.

"I'm done." Raven finally whispered, with a tired smile on her face.

His own smile was absolutely blissful and lazy. "Again, are we sure you're not an angel hybrid?"

She chuckled. "I'll get dinner. Do I need to cuff you to the headboard while I'm gone?"

Garfield shot her a flirty grin. "You don't need to, but you can if you're into it."

Raven rolled her eyes and blushed a little. Just kiss him. You know you want to. She stood up and left to meditate on her throne for half an hour and then get them dinner.

"You know…" She said casually as they ate. "I like this confident, grown up version of you."

Garfield's lips spread into a gigantic and proud grin. "You do? I still make silly jokes, though."

"Well, I should hope so." The empath chuckled slightly.

This feels like a date. His heart ached while he watched her eat. But it's not. Settle down, this is not a date. Maybe she still loves me and that's what this is. But she still doesn't trust or forgive me. I'm still in handcuffs. I still ruined her life. I still ruined everything. After coming down from cloud nine, the Changeling cleared his throat and made sure to swallow before he spoke this time. He told her more about The Red and she listened intently, with wide and interested eyes.

Garfield lay down and silently damned the fact it was their last night together. And then he realized Raven didn't lie down. She was hugging her knees again and looking away. He frowned. "Rae? Are you okay? Do you want me to sleep on the floor tonight? Cause I'm all healed, so…obviously, I mean, it's all good."

"Would you let me go today?" She whispered so quietly it was barely audible.

The Changeling wanted to sit up straight so he could properly look at her, but with his hands cuffed over his stomach it was difficult. "…what?"

Raven took a deep breath and chanted the words to deactivate her powers, making her crystal glow inside her closet. It would be safer without them and she was done healing him. Then she braced herself for the question she had been dying to ask and avoiding terribly at the same time. It was all there was left to say. It was all she needed to know. "If...if Radiant's offer happened now instead of then and the portal opened today…would you let me go?"

Garfield's heart tightened and he braced himself for talking about his biggest mistake some more. He would talk about it as many times as she wanted. He didn't hesitate to answer. "Yes, I would. I mean, I'd miss you like crazy and I'd cry like a baby, but…" He chuckled sadly. "…I'd let you go. I'd kill for another chance to not sabotage your happiness. I…I tried. Damian and I, we've been trying to find another way, but…"

"…but it was a once-in-a-lifetime offer." She said quietly, but not quite sadly, because her heart had been released from an oppressive grip that had been twisting it for months. It was lighter and less bruised and it was aching for him, because she didn't need powers to know he meant every word. Raven turned around and lay down, staring into his eyes. "Well…just to be clear I'm not going back to Titan Tower or to you, but…I forgive you."

I forgive you.

I forgive you.

I forgive you.

It echoed in his mind a few times before his eyes widened and his heart pounded. WHAT!? Did she just say she forgives me?! She…no, but…wait.

"No, don't. Please." He whispered desperately as his wide eyes filled with tears.

Raven tilted her head in confusion. "You don't…you don't want my forgiveness?"

The Changeling exhaled loudly and sharply. "Of course I want it, more than anything, but…I don't deserve it." He bit his lip to suffocate another sob. "You were right before. You can't forgive me. I…I did curse you. Don't forgive me, please."

"Well, I kind of already did." She said, watching his agony with a calm and tender expression on her face. "Besides, it's my forgiveness to give. I decide who deserves it."

"But…you said you never would. You said you couldn't."

"Things changed. You changed."

"But I…I want to suffer." Garfield choked up and allowed several tears to roll down his cheeks. "I know that sounds like a line from a bad movie, but…you suffer. You suffer so much every day because of me, so I want to suffer too." When she reached out to tenderly wipe his tears he cried harder. "Stop being so kind to me. You should be punishing me. I should have lived with it knowing I can never fully redeem or earn your trust back or your forgiveness…that was my punishment. If you're going to take it away, at least punish me some other way…take the healing back, leave me wounded…anything."

Raven gently cupped his face in her hands. "The thing is…I don't want to punish you, Gar. All I want to do right now is this." She leaned down and kissed his lips sweetly, but passionately.

His body immediately responded by melting into it and deepening the kiss before his brain even registered what was happening. All the craving and longing from the last few months begged to be appeased and he cursed his handcuffs for keeping him from cradling her face or hugging her waist or massaging her thighs and pulling her closer. Then his brain finally caught up to it. Wait. She's kissing me. Raven's kissing me. She forgives me and she's kissing me. He tried not to feel overwhelmed but it was just way too much at once and way more than he expected, so he sobbed against her lips.

Raven caressed his cheeks and looked at him with worried, regretful eyes. "I'm sorry. Did you not want me to do that? I can't sense you now, I'm sorry…"

Garfield smiled at her through the tears and chuckled softly. "Are you kidding me? That's all I've dreamed about for months."

She relaxed and smiled sweetly. "Then what's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just…" He took a deep breath to steady his breathing and his strained voice. "I thought you'd never do that again. Or even touch me like this again."

"I can't go back, Gar. This isn't us getting back together. I can't go back to that. I'm too…"

"I know, love. I know. I'm so sorry."

"I got that. You can stop apologizing for it."

"Never."

Raven rolled her eyes and leaned down to kiss him again. It started out soft and it became more and more urgent as all their repressed lust rose to the surface. One of her hands moved from his face to his chest and she smiled against his lips.

"You know…if it's punishment you want…" The empath whispered.

Garfield heard his heart pounding in his ears with anticipation when she pulled back and pushed his cuffed hands to the headboard above his head again, smiling at him with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

"…I might have an idea." She said sensually.

The shapeshifter flushed and stared at her with a mixture of excitement and disbelief. Is this really happening? "You're gonna punish me with sex? That's not actual punishment, love."

"Well, that's my only offer. And it can be. I could torture you."

He chuckled breezily. "Sexual torture is still a reward."

"It's okay if you don't want to. We don't have to-"

"No, do it. Do whatever you want with me. I'm yours." Garfield said quickly. I missed it so fucking much. "I only meant it's not real punishment, not that I don't want it."

"Are you sure?" She raised an eyebrow while she cuffed his hands to the headboard and removed his clothes. "Just tell me to stop if you're uncomfortable, okay? My forgiveness doesn't depend on this."

The shapeshifter chuckled, already feeling his breathing become unsteady. "I told you, I'll always be sure about this. Punish me all you want. I'll take it."

Raven smiled wickedly and kissed down his chest while teasing his pointy ears with her fingertips, making him moan. "Mmm maybe I won't give you back. Maybe I'll just add property of Raven to that collar of yours and keep you tied to my bed. You'll look cute."

Fuck, I'd forgotten how filthy she gets. The Changeling leaned his head back and parted his lips, breathing heavily as his chest burned with lust. "O-okay."

The empath teased him mercilessly, not allowing him to finish at least ten times on a roll. At one point she even left him there whimpering and squirming helplessly while she went downstairs to pick up a book she then pretended to read for a few minutes as he panted, spread out and naked on her bed. She admired her work with dark, lustful eyes. "All you have to do is give up."

"I-I'm fine." Garfield said in a breathy voice, with his eyelids half-closed and his toes curled up.

His eyes had rolled back in his head so many times but she kept denying him permission to release the tension, so it had built up to a painful peak. She stopped touching him entirely whenever he was too close and it had reduced him to a babbling, submissive, sweaty and trembling mess. She was watching him intently looking perfect in her Siren uniform and he could smell it on her – she was deliciously aroused. The shapeshifter had promised himself he wouldn't beg for mercy. He wanted her to go as far as it pleased her. He just thought that maybe he would faint soon.

Raven smiled. "You're really enduring this."

Garfield nodded groggily as his chest rose and fell heavily. "Whatever you want."

"That's so sweet." She said teasingly. "Maybe you've been punished enough."

"Whatever you want." He repeated, keeping his eyes closed. It did hurt, but it wasn't regular pain. It was pleasure pain. It was as blissful as it was agonizing.

Fuck, he's so hot. Raven decided he'd had enough. It was cute how much he committed to it, but she didn't actually want to torture him. "Look at me; I want to see the desire in your eyes."

The shapeshifter immediately obeyed and stared at her with pleading and lascivious eyes and it drove her crazy. She removed her own clothes while he watched with dilated pupils and then she finally satisfied both their urges by getting on top of him, kissing him deeply the entire time. Garfield nearly fainted when the accumulated tension left his body in an explosion of sinful pleasure. He did scream her name, though. Raven didn't take too long to follow because watching him had done a lot for her. And then she collapsed on top of him, resting her head on his chest, and they lay there panting for several lazy seconds.

"Well now I'm gonna have withdrawal all over again." Garfield smiled to the ceiling, fully enjoying the sensation of her bare skin on top of his. "But…so worth it."

She giggled against his chest and heard his heart accelerate slightly. "What withdrawal? You had so much sex after we broke up."

"Raven-withdrawal. There's no comparison." He stated easily. Please just keep lying there and touching me. Don't stop yet. "Seriously, my skin is tingling."

The empath chuckled softly and nuzzled his chest. He said there's no comparison. Her heart fluttered. "Mmm cute. I did miss sex."

The Changeling's heart skipped a beat. "You missed…sex? As in…you haven't…?"

Raven rested her chin on his chest to look up at him. "I haven't." When his mouth hung open in shock, she rolled her eyes. "What? You know it's not easy for me to get vulnerable and intimate enough to…you know."

"No, I know, I just…I thought maybe you and the warlock…"

She shook her head. "I would never be powerless around him. I thought about teleporting us to some pocket reality for it but…it felt wrong. I didn't really want to."

Garfield bit his lip to disguise how happy that made him. "So you've still only ever been with me in that way?"

Raven shrugged nonchalantly, as if she didn't know how much that meant to him. "Well, yes."

The Changeling watched her with adoring eyes as she detached him from the headboard. How could I ever doubt her love!? As soon as he could, he lowered his arms, wrapping them around her so that his cuffed hands were now resting on her lower back. She smiled sweetly at him and his heart soared. She's smiling at me. I get to hold her like this. His smile widened involuntarily and he caressed her bare back with his fingers.

"Am I really forgiven?"

She stroked his hair. "You're really forgiven."

And then Raven lay down, resting her head on his chest again and drifting off to peaceful sleep – the best sleep she'd had in months for sure.

"Rae? Are you awake?" Garfield whispered at some point in the middle of the night. He stayed awake to watch her sleep. He'd go back to Titan Tower the next day and as excited as he was to see everyone and get his freedom and powers back, he didn't want to waste his last hours with her by sleeping. He smiled affectionately and continued whispering when she didn't respond. "Okay, good. There's some stuff I need to get off my chest and it wouldn't be fair to tell you while you're awake. I wanted to say that…I still love you so, so much. I'm just completely, helplessly, deeply in love with you. I'll miss you every day of my life and I'll never be as happy again as I was when I was with you. You are the exclusive ruler of my heart and I'm just…I'm just entirely devoted to you."

Raven struggled to keep her breathing steady and thanked Azar and The Presence that he couldn't see her face well enough to notice her eyelids twitching and that he couldn't feel her heartbeat racing wildly, because she had been awake enough to hear that. She was absolutely sure if she hadn't been powerless the whole Mansion would have collapsed, and it took her several minutes of controlling her breath and calming her mind to drift off to sleep again.

"Mmm…" The empath grumbled against his chest in the morning. She noticed his cuffed hands were now tangled in her hair and smiled, reaching up to stroke his cheek.

The Changeling woke up to a gentle, lavender-scented touch on his face and grinned before he even opened his eyes. It wasn't a dream. It really did happen. When he did open them and realized she was smiling up at him, the shapeshifter beamed, playing with her hair and feeling peace like he hadn't felt in ages. "Morning, my lovely captor."

Raven giggled softly and moved, propping herself up on one elbow so her face was hovering over his. "Morning, my lovely captive."

Garfield smiled breezily, rested his hands on her back again and admired her. The narrow rays of sunshine that entered her room danced around and reflected on her face, making her skin glow and her eyes glisten. And then he noticed something that made him completely mesmerized. "Hey…there are like…tiny flecks of violet in your scarlet eyes."

She frowned. "There are?" That's so weird. That definitely wasn't there before.

"Yes, it's absurdly beautiful. I'll have to make another drawing." The shapeshifter said through an awed grin.

Raven failed to fight back a coy smile and her cheeks turned pink. "Whatever."

Garfield chuckled freely. Not whatever. She's being all cute. "Well, I fully enjoyed my stay here in Siren Mansion."

The sorcerer chuckled as well. "Excited to go back to Titan Tower?"

"I'm excited to get this thing off my neck, but…I admit, I'll kinda miss being your prisoner." He grinned cheekily.

Raven covered her face with her hand, chuckling softly again. "I didn't mean for it to get this kinky, I swear."

Garfield grinned his gigantic, toothy, stupid grin as soon as she went back to locking eyes with him. "Yeah but…I'm so glad it did."

She chuckled yet again and laid her head on his chest, enjoying the way he was caressing her lower back and inhaling his scent one more time. After a few blissful seconds, she sighed. "I think we need another shower."

Once the Changeling was back in Titan Tower and after everyone had hugged him and welcomed him home, Robin and Ravager requested the full detailed version of how Lex Luthor and Madame Rouge's demise went down. Garfield told them the whole story in the ops room as both teenagers leaned forward on the couch and Starfire, Bumblebee, Cyborg and Superboy listened intently from the table. Nightwing was listening too while he pretended to strategize battle plans. When the shapeshifter finished, Damian and Rose leaned back on the couch with smiles on their faces.

"The Titans East came over when you got kidnapped, BB. But once we heard Rae had you, we all figured you were safe." Bumblebee said with a cheeky grin.

Cyborg noticed his friend's cheeks blushing. "I see that we were right. You look better than when you left." He teasingly waggled his eyebrows. "She treated you nicely, huh?"

The shapeshifter got a little flustered. "Ah…well, I…I mean, yeah." He chuckled coyly and scratched the back of his neck. "Actually, she did."

The half-robot narrowed his eyes at that reaction. "Wait a minute. Did something actually happen between you?"

Richard looked up at that, his curiosity getting the best of him.

Garfield strutted casually to the kitchen counter and grabbed an apple, taking a bite and shrugging nonchalantly. "Well, you know how it is. Sometimes chemistry is just more intense than which side of the law you're on."

"Garfield Logan." Kory practically squealed. "Tell us what you're implying right now."

"Sorry, Kor." The Changeling grinned and took another smug bite of the apple. "That's between me and her." And then just as he was walking away to his room leaving a bunch of frustrated people behind, he stopped. "Oh, but…Damian? Pay Rose."

And then he left and Robin immediately grunted, handing Ravager her payment while she chuckled wickedly.

"I knew it." Rose said with a wide grin, counting her money.

It took the others a few moments to remember their bet and then they either gasped in shock or let out celebratory squeals, or both. Garfield was back in his room already, working on a pair of soulful red eyes with violet spots in them.

Bring Me to Life (Evanescence)
