"Eren?" Eren heard the voice calling his name. It must be Armin; he remained asleep. The voice called his name again. Eren kept his eyes closed, not wanting them to open and see them again. His head started shaking, opening his eyes.
"Historia?" Historia was wearing a simple dress, a small bundle of cloth resting in her arms.
"So you came back?" Historia's eyes were glowing as they were, though they also carried weariness. She was wearing a simple dress, not her usual uniform, and finally, there was a bundle of cloth in her arms. "You didn't even tell anyone and straight up arrived here."
"Did you name her?" Eren asked, surprising Historia at first before looking at the cloth bundle and smiling.
"I thought you would do it for me." She said this before handing the bundle to Eren. He rested it on his arms before looking into it. A little pair of green eyes looked back at him, his lips stretching wide into a smile. "Isn't she cute?"
Eren was frozen, and the eyes of his daughter mesmerised him. Her smile gave him happiness. All the strain and all the wounds he had accumulated all his life disappeared for that moment. Only happiness remained. Eren gently raised his finger, poking the infant's cheek with it.
"Eren, what will you name her?"
"Carla." Eren said as he bent down, kissing her forehead. "She looks like my mother."
"That is a nice name." Historia smiled at him. "So, is it done?" Her smile disappeared, and so did his.
"I eradicated most of the world. I spared Hizuru and people in places where my titans could not reach. Be assured, though, that Paradise is now safe for a thousand years. No one outside can even dream of attacking us."
"I think Kiyomi will be glad." Historia opened her mouth again to ask about them, Armin, Mikasa, Jean, and Connie, but by looking at Eren, she chose not to. "Hanz wanted to meet you."
"Yeah, I wanted to thank him. Bring him." Historia gave a nod and went out of the room, closing the door, leaving the father and daughter alone in the room. Eren looked at his daughter, and a smile came all over his face.
"Aw, you are so cute." He said this before kissing her forehead. "Carla is the name that suits you the most." Tears started falling from his eyes. "I miss mom a lot. And I am so sorry I was not there when you came into this world." Eren kissed his daughter again; she looked at him for a few seconds before sneezing, her nose turning pinkish. "Carla, you are free." He hugged the infant. "You are free; no one outside will harm you. But…"
Eren looked as he saw a congregation of men and women gathered around a man as he held a shotgun, hugging it.
"God arrived on the island; he in Mitras, taking his rightful throne. We must aid him; thus, let us march to Mitras."
"What about the queen's daughter? I heard that…"
The man cuts in, "if young girl indeed his daughter, then she be his heir, God daughter." Eren wished that he could wipe Carla out of the man's memories and convince her that she was not his daughter. Alas, he could not.
"Carla, if they realise that you are my daughter, they will steal your freedom. Carla, I am so sorry. I won't be with you after this either. But you will not end up like me; you will be loved." The little girl squealed as Eren's eyes turned purple. A smile came all over his face. "I love you."
The door opened as Historia and Hanz entered the room. Eren was still holding the little girl in his arms, crying. "Eren?" Historia went to him. "Why are you crying?"
"Nothing; I just can't believe that this baby is so beautiful. She looks just like his." Eren looked at Hanz, "his father."
"Thank you, sir. I am very proud of her." Hanz told him, pride filling his chest as he took the little girl from Eren. He looked at her eyes, her brown eyes. "I love her a lot."
The door opened again as a woman and a young man entered, wearing the uniforms of MPs. They saluted Eren.
"They are Simon and Martha; they are currently leading the Yeagerist." Historia introduced them to Eren.
"Sir!" Both said it in unison.
Eren was heartbroken; this was the price of the Rumbling, still too small to really pay. The millions he trampled under his feet—all those children and infants he had crushed to their deaths—were innocents. The anguish of being forgotten by his own daughter was nothing compared to what he did to them.
"Sir, now that you have arrived, we have much to discuss." Martha said as Eren looked at her.
"I have one last work to do; I will end the titans; our people do not deserve to carry this curse anymore." He looked at Historia and said, "The fate of this nation and our people now depends on you."
"Eren, why are you talking like this?" Historia was perplexed as Eren sighed.
"Historia, I am tired; can we talk later?" Eren smiled at her. Historia gave a nod. "Please leave me alone now; come back after a few hours." Everyone looked at each other before walking out of the door, with Hanz being the last one. Eren watched as her daughter left the room, leaving him all alone.
Eren sighed as he looked at his side. Armin was sitting on the bed, looking down. "You don't have anything to say?" Eren then looked at Halil and Ramzi and asked, "You?" He looked at his grandparents and asked, "You?" He looked at the couple who once passed through the street he was walking on. "You?" The entire room was filled with people—people he trampled. All looking at him, no anger or resentment. All except Floch, standing beside him. "You?"
"Don't do this; take your place as the leader. You are gambling on our future." Eren looked around and found a notebook and a pen. He took it and ripped some pages out before writing on it. Minutes passed as he filled up seven pages. He placed the notebook and pages back in their places.
"Let it be; I protected Paradis from external threats; now it must learn how to sustain itself without any omnipotent beings controlling their destiny." Eren laid back down, his eyes turning purple again. "Mikasa, I am coming."
"Ugh." Gustav cried as he felt a strong current flowing through his body for a second, nearly toppling him from his seat. The buggy was driving at full speed. "What the hell was that?"
"Did you feel it, sire?" The driver was looking back at him through the window. His face was darkened by the overhead sun, but Gustav could read the tension all over his face. "That current?"
Gustav said nothing; there was already enough going on, which made him mad. Eren appearing at Mitras out of thin hair; Marleyan refugees arriving on the island; Simon and Martha now seemingly defecting to the queen; the soldier he dismissed claiming to have followed Eren and two kids to a village before he disappeared. But most of all, he was being escorted by Uriah and his fanatics.
Outside the buggy, Uriah was riding far ahead. He felt the current racing through his body. His gut was telling him something was wrong. He lashed his horse again, racing faster towards Mitras. What could have happened? Was it his god? Did he?
"Pastor! You are going too fast." Someone was calling him from behind. "You are breaking the formation."
"I feel no right; something gone wrong. God, you okay?"
"Gabi, Falco, come down now; dinner is ready." Mrs. Braus called them as the two kids came down from the stairs. Falco yawned before he looked at Gabi; her face tensed. "Gabi?"
"Huh?" She looked at Falco before rubbing her eyes. "How long have we slept?"
"Night has come; we have a special dinner today." Kaya said, sitting next to Greg and Louise. Gabi and Falco took their seats opposite them.
"So, we need to take care of the horses much better than we did. I believe that a reconstruction effort will begin soon. They would need horses to carry the materials." Mr. Braus said as Mrs. Braus began serving the food to the children. Both looked at their plates, and it was steak.
"So, tomorrow I will take ya kids to the ferrest beyond the Wall Rose to hunt; Maria must be plenty with game." Mr. Braus announced as all the children cheered. Everyone dug into their meal.
"Gabi, Falco, did you feel that during the afternoon? Current shock?" Kaya asked both of them as the other children were whispering.
"No, what 'shock'?" Gabi asked them back.
"I felt that too." Mr. Braus said: A loud banging noise was heard at the front door. "Who is this? At this time?" Mr. Braus got up and went to the door. Braus opened it to see a man of his age standing on the other side, panting. "Nikolai?"
"Artur, tuck 'er kids to a safe place; the whole island is going to hell." Nikolai frantically spoke before turning back.
"Hey, hey, Nikolai, what happened with ya?" Nikolai turned around again, worried all over his face.
"Eren Yeager is dead. They declared him dead. The Yeagerists have declared war on the queen. Artur, protect your family; a lot of Yeagerists in this region are preparing for war." He said this before looking at the family as he spotted Falco and Gabi, his eyes widening. "Are those the kids ya told me about?" Both kids' eyes widened as Mr. Braus looked at them briefly before looking at him. "Ya should protect them. I must go; others must be warned."
Nikolai left as Mr. Braus closed the door before looking back at the kids. Gabi was standing near him, almost in tears.
"Mr. Braus, what will happen to us?" She broke down, crying. Artur kneeled down, wrapping his hands around her.
"Nothing; don't fear. I won't let anything happen to ya both." He tried to console her as Mrs. Braus went to Falco, but he was in total shock as the words rang in his mind. "My road has ended."
