"You look ridiculous, you know that right?" Rosa asked.
"It's better than the spare clothes you and your mom provided." Ash said, pulling on a blue jacket with back sleeves and silver cuffs. He also had on a créame shirt and dark blue jeans. "What do you think Pikachu?" Ash asked, putting on his hat.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"So what do you want to check out while we're waiting for your mom to show up?" Ash asked.
"Preferably the snacks the studio is providing us." Rosa said. "You've got the bill, right?"
"No. You already took my reward for finding, catching, and bringing back Riolu, I don't need to pay more money because of you." Ash said with an annoyed huff.
"I left you some of it." Rosa commented.
"500 is not some it's a fifth of what I got." Ash said with an annoyed groan. "Come on there's an entire city out there to check out. Besides you said it yourself your mom won't be here by tomorrow at least, so let's see what we can find."
Near the south end of the city
"The entire city, and you choose here of all places?" Rosa asked.
"Virbank Complex, from what I've heard anyone who's anyone trains here to get stronger." Ash said.
"So you're here to train." Rosa said.
"Nope, we are." Ash said, taking a few steps back.
"We? I don't battle." Rosa said.
"Last I checked no one else is here." Ash said.
"Get away from me!" A man's voice called out.
"You were saying?" Rosa asked, as Ash ran towards the voice. "Why do you always run?"
Further in on the side of the complex near the docks
"Please just let me go, these Pokemon are meant as research opportunities." A sailor said.
"Not happening, those Pokemon need to be free, what you're doing is wrong!" A familiar Team Plasma grunt said.
"Yeah so hand them over!" The other grunt said.
"You two again!" Ash exclaimed.
"Hey it's that kid, and some bystander!" The first grunt said.
"I was there last time!" Rosa argued.
"Whatever, our fight isn't with you." The Plasma Grunt said.
"Too bad you made it with me. Pikachu use Volt Tackle!"
"Sunflora use Leech Seed!"
Sunflora launched a single seed, tying up Pikachu and halting his movement momentarily.
"Dunsparce use Rollout!"
Dunsparce rushed forward, slamming into Pikachu and knocking him back.
"Any time bystander!" Ash said, trying to remove the seed from Pikachu.
"But Lillipup only knows one move and we don't battle!" Rosa argued.
"Rosa, I just need a distraction off Pikachu, so for once stop arguing!" Ash said, pulling at the seed.
"Lillipup use Return!" Rosa said shocked at Ash's anger.
Lillipup leapt out of Rosa's arms, slamming into the rolling Dunsparce, and knocking it out of the attack.
"Wow." Ash said in surprise, finally freeing Pikachu. "Alright Pikachu use Iron Tail!"
Pikachu leapt forward, striking Sunflora and knocking the grass type into the box, sending three Pokeballs tumbling into the ocean.
"The Pokemon!" Ash, the sailor, and the grunts all exclaimed at once, before Ash dove in without a second thought.
"Go on." The first Plasma Grunt said to their partner.
"Oh no, I can't swim, you go." The second grunt said.
"Are you kidding, look at those waves, no one can survive that." The first said before they ran off.
"Come on Ash don't be dumb." Rosa said, trying to see where the Pokeballs were in the rough current.
"Pika." Pikachu said with a worried tone.
"Lu!" Riolu said running from the city, jumping into the water, a yellow glow faintly in his eyes.
"Was that a Riolu?" The sailor asked.
"Yep." Rosa said deadpanned.
"And it just willingly jumped into the water?" The sailor asked.
"Yep." Rosa said still in shock.
"Can Riolu swim?" The sailor asked.
"No clue." Rosa admitted.
A few minutes later
"BWAH!" Ash exclaimed as he surfaced. "Did you guys see Riolu jump in?"
"Did you?" Rosa asked, before Ash lifted the soaked fighting type up for Rosa to grab.
"What about the Pokemon?" The Sailor asked, helping Ash up.
"I'm sorry, I tried I could only find one." Ash said holding out a Pokeball. "I have no idea where the others are."
"I'll let Professor Juniper know." The sailor said, hesitating at grabbing the Pokeball. "Can I have your name?"
"Ash Ketchum, why?" Ash asked.
"Because I feel that Pokemon might be safer with you than with me, I had those three for all of an hour before those two cornered me." The sailor said.
"What kind of Pokemon is it?" Rosa asked.
"The Pokemon were a special kind of Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott." The sailor said.
"Special how?" Ash asked.
"Their abilities aren't of the normal variety." The sailor informed.
"So which one did Ash find?" Rosa asked.
"Come on out!" Ash said tossing the ball into the air, a green snake like Pokemon coming out.
"That's the Snivy. A grass type." The sailor said.
"You said their abilities are different than normal, what exactly are they?" Ash asked.
"Well normally Snivy has an ability called Overgrow, where their grass type moves get stronger when they're in a tough battle." The sailor said.
"That sounds like my Infernape's Blaze ability!" Ash exclaimed.
"It is, Tepig also normally have that ability as well, while Oshawott normally have a water type variant called Torrent." The sailor said.
"So what abilities do they have then!" Ash said excitedly.
"I wish I knew, but all I knew is that their abilities were different than the standard." The sailor admitted. "That poor Tepig and Oshawott though, their Pokeballs should hold up, I just hope they end up safe."
"We'll keep an eye out, I'm sure they're out there." Ash assured.
"Thank you." The sailor said.
"Are we done here, this place is hardly… clean." Rosa commented.
"Yeah we're done here, we can head back and meet with your mom tomorrow." Ash said.
