"Here we are boys, the Medal Society." Rosa said.
"The what now?" Ash asked.
"The Medal Society, it's like a club, you can earn medals like you earn badges, except these are for weird things that no one really cares about." Elliot said.
"Hey I care about them!" Rosa said angrily. "Take a look." Rosa said, opening a box containing a few medals.
"There aren't a lot here." Ash admitted.
"Hey you said I got to decide and I want help earning these!" Rosa said angrily.
"Okay, you're right." Ash said.
"But what about my battle information?" Elliot questioned.
"We'll get to it, just relax, soon as Rosa has had her excursion." Ash said, patting his shoulder.
"Please, stop touching me." Elliot said.
"Right, sorry." Ash apologized.
"I'm going to go in, see if there any we can do here today, and we'll go from there." Rosa said, excitedly running in.
A few minutes later Rosa came back out holding a few sheets of paper.
"So what do we have?" Ash asked.
"First one, buy 10 drinks from a vending machine." Rosa said.
"Alright let's go find a vending machine." Ash said. "What's with the camera?"
"I need it to show proof." Rosa commented.
"Of course." Ash said.
At the north end of the city
"Alright, that's 9." Ash said as another Lemonade rolled out.
"Wait there's another challenge to get two for one!" Rosa said.
"Rosa, how many lemonades am I supposed to buy?" Ash bemoaned, as he, Pikachu, Riolu, and Snivy were all a bit water logged.
"Maybe I can help." Elliot said. "Porygon come out."
"What's Porygon going to do?" Rosa asked.
"Porygon is made of code so it should be able to isolate the code so now when Ash buys another lemonade, two more will drop out." Elliot said.
"It, urpp, better." Ash groaned, inserting the money and pressing the Lemonade button once more as two cans rolled out.
"Success!" Rosa cheered. "Okay what's next? Aha! These are easy for you Ash, it's battle medals."
"Okay, give me like five minutes." Ash groaned.
Fifteen minutes later
"Alright so we need to find some trainers then." Ash said, looking around. "Hey those three look tough!"
"Yes, but maybe a bit too tough." Elliot said, seeing the three in a back alley.
"No such thing, just make sure you get the evidence Rosa." Ash said. "Hey you guys who wants a battle?!"
"Kid thinks he's tough coming onto my turf, challenging us to a battle. Ricky show him what's what." The girl said.
"Got it boss, Scraggy, let's go!"
"Snivy I choose you!"
"Ash, Scraggy is a dark and fighting type, a flying type would have been far more advantageous." Elliot called out.
"A little late for that one Elliot." Ash said. "Snivy use Vine Whip!"
"Scraggy use Headbutt!"
Snivy shot out their vines, striking Scraggy on the head and tripping it up.
"Now use Energy Ball!" Ash called out.
"Scraggy use Focus Blast!"
The two orbs collided into a smoke cloud covering the area.
"Snivy use Tackle!"
"Scraggy use Leer!"
Snivy rushed forward with more gusto than before, slamming into Scraggy.
"Incredible, I've read about Contrary but that's the first I've seen it." Elliot said.
"Con what now?" Rosa asked.
"Ash's Snivy's ability, that's Contrary, it switches any stat changes around. So while normally while Leer would lower a Pokémon's defense, for Snivy it actually rose." Elliot explained.
"Huh, neat." Ash said. "Snivy use Vine Whip one more time!" Snivy sent out two vines, striking Scraggy into submission.
"Alright kid, you messed with the wrong gang!" Another guy said making his way to the front. "Darumaka let's go!"
"Snivy take 5." Ash said.
"Ash I need to see a Super Effective Move!" Rosa called out.
"Consider it done! Riolu let's go! Use Dig!"
Riolu dove into the earthy ground of the alley, disappearing from sight in an instant.
"Darumaka use Uproar!"
The Darumaka let out a cry causing everyone to cover their ears before Riolu leapt out of the ground, striking the fire type into the air.
"Now use Force Palm!"
Riolu continued his forward momentum, striking Darumaka back down towards the ground.
"Ash, I also need a not very effective move." Rosa admitted.
"Easy enough. Riolu use Ice Punch!"
"Darumaka use Fire Punch!"
The two elemental fists collided in a cloud of steam, leaving Darumaka defeated on its back.
"Oh is this all a game to you!" The girl said angrily.
"No, I swear we're just trying to earn some medals, but I do enjoy battling." Ash said quickly.
"Well let's see how you enjoy this! Liepard come on out!"
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed getting between Riolu and Liepard.
"Ash, Riolu would have been a far better choice, with Pikachu I predict your chances of winning to be much smaller." Elliot said.
"I like those odds." Ash said. "Pikachu use Quick Attack!"
"Liepard use Slash!"
Pikachu dove out of the way of Liepard's claw, before slamming into the dark type from below.
"Liepard use Shadow Ball!"
"Counter with Iron Tail!"
Pikachu sliced right through the shadow ball, the two parts of the attack separating and going off behind Ash.
"Again, he used an offensive move to defend, how?" Elliot wondered.
"Now Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Ash exclaimed.
A bolt of electricity shot high into the sky before going back down, striking Liepard, sending sparks up and down its body.
Elsewhere in the City
"Jess, look up there." James said, noticing the bolt of electricity.
"Yeah, what's your point, we have a job to do remember!" Jessie said angrily.
"I know, but do you think it could be the twerp?" James asked.
"Come on James, we both know that the likely hood of the twerp being here at the same time as us after what happened is as likely as you marrying that fiancé of yours." Meowth said with a chuckle. "Sides Jess is right, we gots bigger fish to fry in this city."
"Right old chum." James said, as the three headed towards Thumb Pier.
Back with our heroes
"That, was shocking." Rosa said, her hair frizzy from static.
"Nothing in my calculations could have prepared me for an attack that strong." Elliot admitted, seeing the defeated Liepard.
"That was fun! If you three ever want to go again we'll be around!" Ash said with a wide grin.
A bit later, back outside the medal rally
"Look, a whole bunch of new medals." Rosa said, showing her box a bit more filled.
"That's great Rosa." Ash said with a smirk. "Glad you had fun with it."
"The battling was quite enlightening I can't wait to learn more." Elliot said.
"MAHHHH!" A cry echoed from the skies as a shadow swooped down at the trio.
"Bwarp!" Lillipup growled.
"Everyone down!" Ash said, pushing Rosa and Elliot down out of the way of the talons.
"Lillipup!" Rosa cried out seeing the pup in the talons of the Pokemon.
"We'll get him back, I swear." Ash said. "Let's go!"
