Predictions Coming True

Written for The Daily Weird Prompt - Halloween Edition

Prompt - Umbridge/(character of your choice)

It was bound to happen eventually, the two most annoying and twisted people getting together and falling in love. They had so much in common, the both of them stirring up trouble wherever they went. And while one of them would sit back and spew her rules and regulations from the Ministry, the other would delight in watching the children squirm uncomfortably in their seats, her quill darting across the parchment as she took note of everything she saw.

It was bad enough that the teachers and students had to deal with Umbridge, but when she brought in Rita Skeeter to accompany her during one of her classes, several of the students actually fainted, while a few were seen running from the classroom and screaming like Lord Voldemort was after them.

Dolores just smiled, watching the students' reactions as a sly smirk spread across her partner's face, her bright red lips forming a deliciously wicked smile as her enchanted quill began flying across the sheet of parchment in her hand.

The next day the headlines in the Daily Prophet said that the students were thrilled to meet Dolores' partner, and that Rita had received a warm welcome from the teachers and staff. It also stated that they invited her to stay with Umbridge in the castle for as long as she liked, when in reality Rita took it upon herself to move into the castle with Umbridge despite the students' protests.

No one wanted Rita Skeeter to live in the castle, not even the house elves wanted her around. Even the Basilisk's son was seen fleeing the castle when she arrived, followed shortly by Fluffy as they escaped together into the Forbidden Forest. It was later said that they hitched a ride with the Weasley's flying Ford Angelia, and were last seen heading to the remote mountains of Timbuktu.

"Well, this is it," said Severus, as he sat in the teacher's lounge with McGonagall and a few of his fellow teachers. "It appears as though Sybill's predictions were correct. She predicted doom and disaster, with misfortune befalling those who set foot inside the castle. And I daresay her predictions were correct."

McGonagall sighed wearily, turning her head and looking over at the seer in question.

Trelawney just sat there with a smug smile on her face, sipping from a cup of tea while she listened to the others talk. Perhaps next time she predicted that something truly terrible was going to happen they might listen to her.
