"Good to see you've finally arrived Ash." Burgh said, seeing Ash and his friends coming into the gym.
"Are you still good for a gym battle today?" Ash asked.
"Yes, now I understand you are going for your third gym badge." Burgh said. "So how does a four on four battle sound to you?"
"Four on four, that's a tough fight." Ash said.
"Is that alright?" Burgh asked.
"Works for me." Ash said with confidence.
"Very well then, as always you are allowed to switch your Pokemon at any time while I am restricted to the Pokemon I have out." Burgh explained. "Now come on out Dwebble!"
"Riolu I choose you!" Ash called out.
"Dwebble use Rock Polish!"
"Riolu use Dig!"
Dwebble shuddered, their body shaking and the rock shell shimmering as Riolu dug below ground.
"Dwebble use Rock Polish!"
Dwebble's rock shimmered once more as Riolu leapt out of the ground, the bug easily avoiding the attack.
"Riolu use Ice Punch!"
"Dwebble use Rock Blast!"
Riolu rushed forward, freezing multiple of the rocks only to get struck by the final two, knocking him backwards.
"Riolu use Force Palm!"
"Dwebble use Faint Attack!"
Riolu leapt forward, striking Dwebble's knocking it away.
"Alright, switch out! Darumaka let's go!" Ash called out. "Use Rollout!"
Darumaka curled into a ball, launching at Dwebble as it tried to recover its rock.
"Dwebble use Faint Attack!"
Dwebble spun around aiming its claws at the still rolling Darumaka as it was struck down once more, knocking it out.
"Smart thinking, remove Dwebble's defenses and it leaves them open to an attack." Burgh remarked. "However my next Pokemon is a bit more challenging to remove. Shelmet come out!"
"Darumaka keep on rolling!"
"Shelmet use Acid!"
Shelmet launched a strange liquid substance from inside of its helmet, coating the arena and sending Darumaka crashing into a tree.
"Darumaka are you alright?" Ash asked, as the fire type got back up confidently. "Alright then, use Fire Fang!"
"Shelmet use Struggle Bug!"
Darumaka rushed forward, flames crawling from her mouth, biting down on Shelmet as the armored bug flailed about, striking Darumaka a few times.
"Darumaka lay it on, combine Fire Fang and Flame Wheel!" Ash called out.
"Combining two moves, is that even possible?" Elliot asked.
"Of course it is, I told you I learned from all sorts of trainers, like combining moves from my coordinator friends, May from Hoenn, and Dawn from Sinnoh." Ash said. "Now Darumaka!"
"Shelmet use Struggle Bug!"
Darumaka engulfed herself and Shelmet in flames before rolling into a ball, knocking them around the arena.
"Impressive tactics, combining moves like that is truly like a work of art." Burgh said, seeing the knocked out Shelmet. "Now come out Karrablast."
"Darumaka use Headbutt!"
"Karrablast use your own Headbutt!"
The two Pokemon collided with one another, dazing Darumaka in the process.
"Karrablast use Aerial Ace!"
"Darumaka recover and use Fire Fang!"
Darumaka struggled to get up as Karrablast ran at her with incredible speed, striking the fire type once more before Darumaka was able to strike.
"Darumaka might not be able to keep up with this one." Rosa admitted.
"Karrablast use Aerial Ace!"
"Darumaka use Fire Fang!"
Darumaka tried to get a hit in on Karrablast, only to be struck into the air once more by the quick moving Karrablast.
"Darumaka switch out!" Ash called out. "I need higher speed but I can't use Braviary just yet."
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"Alright Pikachu, you're up!" Ash called out. "Use Quick Attack!"
"Karrablast use Aerial Ace!"
Pikachu was able to keep up with Karrablast, the two Pokemon racing at one another with ease.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Karrablast use Aerial Ace!"
Pikachu built up electricity moments before being launched into the air by Karrablast.
"Now use Iron Tail!"
"Karrablast use Struggle Bug!"
Pikachu leapt at Karrablast, the bug shivering with static electricity, only to be struck by Pikachu's tail.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Karrablast use Endure!"
Karrablast held their ground as Pikachu sent out a blast of electricity stunning it with massive power.
"What, there's no way Karrablast can still be standing from that attack!" Rosa exclaimed.
"It's the move Karrablast used, Endure, it allows the Pokemon to survive any hit." Elliot remarked.
"Pikachu use Quick Attack!"
"Karrablast use Struggle Bug!"
Pikachu raced forward, striking Karrablast as the bug type struck back in their final moments.
"Karrablast return." Burgh called out. "We're not quite done yet, come out Leavanny!"
"Pikachu, take five it's time." Ash said. "Let's go Braviary!"
"Even against a mighty bird like Braviary, we will stand tall." Burgh said. "Leavanny use Grass Whistle!"
"Braviary Aerial Ace!"
Braviary dove at Leavanny, striking the bug type as a single note tone causing Braviary to come crashing to the ground asleep.
"Leavanny use Aerial Ace!"
Leavanny danced around, slicing at Braviary with expert precision.
"Braviary you need to wake up!" Ash called out.
"Leavanny use Razor Leaf!"
Leavanny spun around, leaves shooting out of them from all angels striking Braviary with dangerous accuracy.
"Leavanny use Aerial Ace again!"
Leavanny dove and spun, striking Braviary once more, sending the flying type into a tree.
"Bra." Braviary grunted, finally waking up.
"Alright Braviary use Hone Claws!"
"Leavanny use Razor Leaf!"
Leavanny sent out a flurry of leaves as Braviary extended his talons.
"Braviary use Wing Attack!"
"Leavanny use Grass Whistle!"
Braviary dove as Leavanny, striking them once more and knocking the bug type onto their back.
"One more time use Wing Attack!" Ash called out.
"Bra!" Braviary declared, diving down on Leavanny for the finishing blow.
"Very impressive Ash, while I'm not sure just what kind of training you've done but it has paid off." Burgh said. "As recognition of your victory, I present you with this, the Insect Badge."
"Thank you Burgh." Ash said. "Braviary, you just won us the Insect Badge!" Ash said excitedly.
"Pika!" Pikachu cheered.
"Bra!" Braviary chirped in agreement.
"So where to next for us?" Elliot asked.
"Nimbasa City to the North." Ash said. "The next Riolu Kid film is there along with my next gym battle."
"Plenty to do in Nimbasa as well, I'm sure there's no limit on what you can do there." Burgh said.
