"Here we are guys, the Don George tournament." Ash said, looking at the stadium.
"I thought you said it was the Don Gero tournament." Rosa commented.
"I must've been mistaken or whoever made the fliers thought they had the right name and got it wrong with confidence." Ash said.
"So I wore this shirt for nothing?" Elliot asked, showing a shirt with the words 'Frog King of Termina' on it.
"Wha, I never mind it's the Don George tournament and what's the harm in a little indulgence in some fun battling while we're here." Ash said.
"All we've done in Nimbasa is have you battle." Rosa reminded.
"Not true, we did the movie." Ash countered.
"Where you battled as Riolu Kid." Elliot pointed out.
"We did the trains!" Ash argued.
"Where you still ended up battling Team Plasma with Elliot, Ingo and Emmet." Rosa reminded.
"Well this is all single battles and you two get to compete too." Ash said.
"We get to, or we're going to?" Rosa asked.
"Ehh, potato tomato." Ash said nonchalantly.
"Oh wait, look at that, it says only 16 trainers are in here." Rosa pointed out.
"Not to worry, I entered all three of us the other day on my way back from picking up the satchel." Ash said, referencing his trip to pick up a way to carry the egg.
"So I guess you ended up making it after all." Jeb said, walking over to the trio. "And I see our mysterious egg has yet to hatch."
"Yeah, it hasn't even shown the usual signs of when they start to hatch, not getting warmer or showing and movements." Ash admitted.
"Well that's four, but it still leaves 12 others." Elliot pointed out. "Let's head inside and see who else will be entering."
Inside the arena
"Welcome gathered trainers, glad to see this turn out." A man said. "For those of you who don't know my name is Don George and I run this Battle Club."
"Rosa what are you doing here?" Hugh asked.
"It's a long story, as usual." Rosa sighed.
"Now up on this screen you will see the tournament bracket for the first round of matches." Don George said. "Every battle will be a one on one match, however outside of that, there are no limits on who you use. And the winner will walk away with a fabulous prize!"
"Looks like we're up first Jeb." Ash said, seeing their faces together.
"I suppose we are, it will be good to see just how well of a battler you are." Jeb said.
Round 1 Match 1
"Alright, I know you have Patrat, so I'll chose Riolu!" Ash called out.
"Smart, not smart enough. Archen let' go!"
"Riolu use Force Palm!"
"Archen dodge it and use Pluck!"
Archen fluttered off the ground for a moment before diving below Riolu's attack, striking the fighting type hard.
"Flying type too, we can work with that. Riolu use Rock Slide!" Ash called out.
"Archen use Ancient Power!"
Riolu focused, summoning a storm of boulders that flew at Archen, the small bird's own attack not being enough to counter.
"Now use Zen Headbutt!"
"Archen use Pluck!"
Riolu launched forward, slamming his skull into Archen, knocking the flying type onto it's back.
"Riolu use Rock Slide one more time!"
"Archen get up!"
A series of rocks landed down on Archen, pinning them and knocking them out.
"Good match Ash, I'll be rooting for you going forward." Jeb said.
Round 1 Match 2
"So who's the opponents this time?" Ash asked, sitting down with Rosa and Elliot.
"No clue, didn't catch their names." Rosa admitted.
"I think that boys name is Steppen." Elliot commented.
"It's Stephan!" The boy argued. "Now come on out Sawk!"
"Now that looks tough." Ash said with a smirk.
"Petilil come out." The girl said.
"Sawk use Low Sweep!"
"Petilil use Absorb!"
The tall blue Pokemon ran forward, striking Petilil with his leg, knocking the grass type upwards into the air.
"Now use Karate Chop!"
The blue Pokemon leapt at Petilil, slamming their hand down right on them, knocking out for a clean victory.
"For such a bulky Pokemon, Sawk sure is agile." Elliot remarked.
"All the better for an opponent for me next round." Ash said with vigor.
"Don't get overconfident." Rosa reminded.
"Aren't you up next?" Elliot asked.
"Yeah, don't remind me." Rosa sighed, heading into the main part of the arena.
Round 1 Match 4
"Alright Hugh, can we just consider this a victory for you?" Rosa asked.
"Come on at least try." Hugh said. "Go Tepig!"
"Lillipup good luck."
"Tepig use Flame Charge!"
"Lillipup use Work Up!"
Lillipup hopped and barked before being hit by Tepig, knocking them back.
"Lillipup use Return!"
"Tepig use Flame Charge!"
The two Pokemon collided, sending Tepig flying backwards from the impact.
"That is frighteningly powerful." Elliot commented.
"Maybe, but Tepig isn't out by the looks of it." Ash remarked.
"Tepig use Rollout!"
Tepig curled into a ball, rolling out at Lillipup, slamming into the normal type.
"Lillipup use Return!"
Lillipup got himself ready to go, only to be struck once more by Tepig's attack, sending the normal type crashing back to the ground in defeat.
"Lillipup are you okay?" Rosa asked, picking up the Puppy Pokemon.
Lillipup gave a soft bark, licking Rosa's face, happy to be held once more.
Round 1 Match 6
"Looks like I'm up." Elliot said. "Wish me luck."
"Good luck." Ash said.
"So you're my opponent?" Elliot asked.
"Yes, but we won't go down easily. Come on out Yamask!"
"Porygon2 come out!"
"Yamask use Shadow Ball!"
A shadowy blob came from the mask like Pokemon only for it to phase right through Porygon2.
"Now Porygon2 use Ice Beam!"
Porygon2 fired a freezing beam at Yamask for serious damage, causing the ghost Pokemon to double back.
"You just got lucky we won't miss again, Yamask use another Shadow Ball!" The girl exclaimed.
"You, you didn't miss the first time, Porygon2 is a normal type, shadow ball won't hit it without a move like Odor Sleuth first." Elliot said. "Porygon2 use another Ice Beam!"
Porygon2 sent out another freezing beam, striking the Yamask and knocking it out.
"Okay, anyone else feel a bit creeped out by that guy up next?" Rosa asked.
"From what I heard his name is Dino." Hugh commented. "Other than that I don't know much of anything.
"Deerling come out!" The trainer said.
"It's pink." Elliot said.
"So is Porygon2." Ash reminded.
"Just an observation." Elliot countered.
"Come on out Sandile!" Their opponent exclaimed.
"Deerling use Energy Ball!" Dino called out.
"Sandile dodge it with Dig!"
Sandile dove under the arena, easily dodging the energy ball attack, as Deerling waited for it to come back up.
"Now!"
Sandile re emerged, biting down on Deerling's leg causing the Pokemon to flinch.
"Deerling use HIgh Jump Kick!"
Deerling leapt into the air with Sandile still holding on, with the two crashing down, with Sandile defeated.
"That was scary powerful." Rosa commented.
"And risky, if Deerling didn't make sure Sandile made contact first, it could have hurt bad." Ash said.
"This guy isn't here to mess around." Jeb commented.
"No, no he isn't." Hugh remarked as Dino left the arena for the eighth match.

Obviously Stephan most who watched the Best Wishes anime know, however you might not remember Dino, he did first appear in the Club Battle Tournament and was a reoccurring background character to the point he came in second in the Unova League
