"Alright Dewott, we accept your challenge." Ash said, as Servine stood back tall.
"Go on pick up your scalchops, wouldn't be a fair fight without them." Hugh said as Pignite readied themselves. "So winner gets to catch Dewott right?"
"Yeah I could use a water type." Ash said.
"Dew!" Dewott said, rolling and grabbing both schalchops before tossing one at Pignite.
"Okay we're starting. Pignite use Flame Charge and dodge it!" Hugh exclaimed.
"What move was that?" Rosa asked.
"The Oshawott lines signature move, Razor Shell, but I've never seen it used like that." Elliot said, as the shell came back to Dewott as they sliced at Servine.
"I know that move, that's Fury Cutter! Servine knock him back with an Energy Ball!"
Servine sent out an Energy Ball that Dewott sliced right through, leaping behind Servine and striking them as Pignite rushed into the grass type on accident.
"Servine use Leaf Tornado!"
"Pignite use Arm Thrust!"
Servine whipped up a storm of leaves, lifting himself and Dewott into the air, while Pignite took a few hits trying to find either of them.
"Dew! Wott!" Dewott exclaimed, throwing both shells out of the leaf tornado, both striking Pignite before knocking into Servine from behind, breaking the grass types concentration as they both fell, with Servine landing in a pile with Pignite.
"Come on Pignite get up!" Hugh called out.
"You've got this Servine!" Ash exclaimed.
"Dewwwww." Dewott said, getting angry.
"Oh no." Rosa said.
"WOTT!" Dewott exclaimed, slamming both of their scalchops into the other starter Pokemon, both collapsing with a resounding thud.
"Servine!"
"Pignite!"
"Dew." Dewott said, putting their scalchops back before leaping off.
"That was weird right?" Rosa asked.
"Let's get them to the Pokemon Center." Ash said, picking up Servine.
"Good idea." Hugh said, returning Pignite.
At the Driftveil City Pokemon Center
"Hello and welcome to the Pokemon Center, how can I assist you today?" Nurse Joy asked.
"We'd like our Pokemon looked at." Ash said. "Especially these two, they got into a tough fight in the park near the bridge."
"Oh, you must have ran into the Dewott there." The Nurse Joy said.
"You know about it, anything you can tell us? Do they have a trainer?" Hugh asked.
"Well they showed up around a month ago near the Cold Storage." Nurse Joy thought back. "Our local gym leader Clay actually brought Oshawott here after he found it injured near the construction site of a new arena."
"So it's the gym leaders Pokemon?" Ash asked.
"No, during the night Oshawott escaped and ran off and I figured just like any other spirited wild Pokemon that was the last we'd see of him." Nurse Joy said. "Then a few days later, trainers started coming in, saying they were ruthlessly attacked in the middle of battles by an outside force. We started seeing connections and realized it was that Oshawott."
"But then it evolved?" Hugh asked.
"Considering how it fights, it's not surprising. Probably won enough matches to get the needed strength." Ash said. "I should have tried harder."
"Ash, no one blames you for what happened that day, you did everything you could and rescued Snivy." Rosa reminded.
"Yeah, but Oshawott was lost and now I'm just worried about them, even now that we've found them." Ash said. "I mean Pignite and Servine fight, but they're still friends out of battle, but Dewott, he attacked them without even a second thought."
"Servine and Pignite will make a full recovery in no time." Nurse Joy assured as two Audino pushed the starters on gurneys into a side room. "We're used to these injuries by this point."
"Okay, thank you Nurse Joy." Ash said, as he took his other Pokemon back.
"Ash, where are you going?" Rosa asked.
"Cold Storage, for some answers." Ash said.
"No." Rosa said, getting in his way.
"Rosa!" Ash said.
"Servine needs you here when he wakes up. You can go once he's better from the fight. Rushing in now won't make him better!" Rosa argued.
"Okay, you're right." Ash sighed. "I just, I can't sit by idly knowing this was partially my fault."
"We'll do what we can Ash, but you can't blame yourself about that forever, I'm just as to blame as you are." Rosa said, as the two sat, to keep an eye on Servine.
Elsewhere in the Pokemon Center
"You hear that, a powerful Dewott." Jessie said in disguise.
"Not just powerful, strong enough to defeat one of the twerps and twerp reserves Pokemon at once." James said also in disguise.
"So here's the plan to get a pack of primo Pokemon. I'll go and recruit this Dewott to our greater cause whilst you two study and prepare a trap for all the twerp trios Pokemon." Meowth said.
"Ingenious old chum!" James said with a clap.
"Don't mess this up, with a Pokemon that strong, Team Rocket could get a certain foothold in the Unova Region to take it over." Jessie said commandingly.
"Right then, it's off to the park I go!" Meowth cheered.
"Hi ho!" Jessie and James said in agreement as they began their part of the plan.

Yes we finally know what happened to the Oshawott, well not really an Oshawott anymore I suppose. Also Dewitt's Razor Shell is a reference to a spinoff. PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond, in it the playable Oshawott has the move Razor Shell and in it he can toss it in a ring around him, and his moves are upgraded by a Dewott, so it stands to reason a Dewott could in theory have even more range with their scalchops. Also because I rewatched the video rather than pulling out my Wii U and PokePark2 disc to make sure I wasn't imagining it, here is the official Oshawott song for the game.
